Xiaomi Mi Pay is coming soon to India

India has many mobile payment solutions such as Paytm, Google Pay (previous known as Tez), Amazon Pay and so on. Xiaomi, the current leader of the smartphone market in India is also planning to introduce its UPI (Universal Payments Interface) based Xiaomi Mi Pay service to India. The Chinese manufacturer has readied its payment service for India and it is now awaiting approval from Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to take it available commercially.

Xiaomi had introduced Mi Pay in China in 2016. India will be receiving the toned version of the payment solution. In the home country, the Mi Pay supports NFC-based contactless payments. However, since Mi Pay for India is based on UPI, any Mi phone will support the service regardless of the fact it features NFC or not.

Samsung offers two kinds of payment solutions in India. The Samsung Pay service is aimed towards its NFC enabled high-end phones for contactless payments. For non-NFC low-end phones, the South Korean company provides a service named Samsung Pay Mini. Since Xiaomi does not have many high-end phones with NFC support in India, it will be offering only UPI-based Mi Pay in the country.

In May, Xiaomi had introduced a money lending service called Mi Credit service in India. By partnering with loan provider named KreditBee, the Mi Credit service provides MIUI users with loans between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 1 lakh in less than 10 minutes. The Mi Pay service is also expected to be available on devices running on MIUI. To use the service, MIUI users only need to fill a simple KYC form.

It is too early to speculate on the arrival of Xiaomi Mi Pay in India as it all depends on RBI approval.

Meizu 16X TENAA listing leaks its front and rear design

A new Meizu phone with a model number of M872Q has appeared on TENAA. Since model numbers M882Q and M892Q respectively belong to the Meizu 16th and Meizu 16th Plus, it is very likely that the newly spotted M872Q could be the Meizu 16X that is slated to go official in September.

Jack Wong, the CEO of Meizu has already confirmed that the Meizu 16X will be powered by Snapdragon 710 and it will be also equipped with in-display fingerprint scanner. The M872Q handset has appeared with its front and rear images on TENAA. The listing is expected to be updated with its specifications very soon.

As it can be seen in the below image, the Meizu 16X features a dual camera setup on its rear with a ring flash below. Wong has already confirmed that the handset will be featuring the same 12-megapixel Sony IMX380 + 20-megapixel Sony IMX350 dual camera setup that is available on the Meizu 16th.

The Meizu 16X will be featuring a notch-less Super AMOLED screen of around 6 inches. It will carry support for Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Mi Note 3 receives MIUI 10 stable edition

Earlier this week, Xiaomi had rolled stable version of MIUI 10 to the users of Xiaomi Mi 6, Xiaomi MI MIX 2 and Xiaomi Mi 8 SE. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has released the MIUI 10 stable update to two more devices such as Redmi Note 5 (Pro) and Mi Note 3.

The new update brings all the goodies that are included in the MIUI 10 such as gesture-based navigation, pleasant sound system such as nature, forest, ocean, rain and so on, improved voice assistant, upgraded game acceleration and more. Redmi Note 5 and Mi Note 3 users can install the latest MUI 10 through an OTA update. It appears that the update has arrived first to the users of Note 5 and Mi Note 3 in China. Soon users in other markets will be also treated with the MIUI 10 update.

At the IFA 2018 in Berlin, Casio has announced the Casio Pro Trek Smart WSD-F30 smartwatch as the successor of the WSD-F20 watch that was unveiled in 2017. The WSD-F30 is a rugged smartwatch like its predecessor and it offers an impressive battery life of lasting for up to 30 days on a single charge.

The Casio Pro Trek Smart WSD-F30 is MIL-STD-810 rated smartwatch that offers up to 50 meters of water-resistance. The smartwatch is equipped with a 1.2-inch OLED display that supports 390 x 390 pixels resolution. Over it is a monochrome LCD panel that shows information like time, atmosphere pressure / altitude and compass bearing. The case of the smartwatch measures 60.5 x 53.8 x 14.9mm and it is 3.9nm narrower and 0.4mm slimmer than the predecessor model.

The WSD-F30 runs on the Android Wear OS and it offers users with exclusive apps for activity tracking, swimming, fitness, horse riding, snowboarding, golfing, skiing and fishing. It is fitted with numerous sensors such as GPS, barometer, accelerometer, compass and gyroscope.

There is a mode called Multi Timepiece Mods that allows the LCD panel to display time while the color display is turned off to save battery power. This allows the phone to last for up to 30 days. In normal use, the WSD-F30 can last for up to 1.5 days on a single charge. The Extend Mode turns on the standby mode to save battery consumption. It allows the smartwatch to run for up to three days by showing offline color maps and GPS when its LCD panel is used for showing time and measurement data. It is equipped with connectivity features such as Bluetooth 4.1 LE and Wi-Fi. The device also carries support for wireless charging.

The Casio Pro Trek Smart WSD-F30 smartwatch can be bought in colors like orang, blue and black. The company is yet to confirm on the price tag of its new smartwatch. The pricing could be declared later this year as its shipments are slated to begin in January.

Sony has unleashed the Sony Xperia XZ3 as its latest flagship smartphone at the IFA 2018 event in Berlin, Germany. It has arrived as the successor of the Xperia XZ2 that was unveiled earlier this year. The Xperia XZ3 is first flagship phone from the company to feature a 6-inch display. The handset is packed with impressive specs and it is the first phone to come preloaded with Android 9 Pie.

Sony Xperia XZ3 Specifications and Features

The Xperia XZ3 features an elongated body with reduced top and bottom bezels. It is equipped with a 7000-series aluminum frame that increases the durability of the phone. The XZ3 is fitted with a 6-inch OLED HDR+ notch-less screen that is curved towards the edges. It supports an aspect ratio of 18:9 and QHD+ resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. Like the other Xperia flagship phones, the XZ3’s screen is equipped with Sony Bravia TV image processing technology. The front and rear sides of the phone are flanked with Gorilla Glass 5 panels. The handset measures 158 x 73 x 9.9mm and weighs 193 grams.

The Snapdragon 845 SoC and 4 GB of RAM are the driving force of the Xperia XZ3. It has a native UFS 2.1 storage of 64 GB. A 3,300mAh battery that supports fast charging through USB-C will power the smartphone. The handset is also equipped with support for Qi wireless charging and Quick Charge 3.0. The XZ3 runs on the all new Android 9 Pie OS. For one-handed operation, the Japanese manufacturer has include Side Sense that gives access to key apps by double-tapping on the side of XZ3.

Debunking all rumors that claimed that it will be equipped with dual rear cameras, the Sony Xperia XZ3 features a single rear camera of 19-megapixel with f/1.8 aperture. The rear snapper supports 960fps slow-motion video shooting and 4K HDR technology. The handset features a dedicated hardware button to launch the camera. For shooting selfies, it is equipped with 13-megapixel front camera.

The XZ3 offers Hi-Res audio through its S-Force Front Surround Sound speakers. The other features of the smartphone include single / dual SIM versions, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4G VoLTE, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0 and USB-C. It does not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone comes with a USB-C to 3.5mm audio jack adapter.

Vivo X23 live photos compares its design with OPPO R17

OPPO has recently launched the OPPO R17 and R17 Pro smartphones with waterdrop display design. Sibling brand Vivo too will be launching Vivo X23 and Vivo V11 series with very similar design on Sept.6. While the X23 smartphone will be launching in China, the V11 and V11 Pro will be announced in India. Compared to predecessor X21 and V9 smartphones, their upcoming successors will be featuring displays with smaller notch. Fresh photos of the Vivo X23 have surfaced to reveal its front and rear appearance. In one of the photos, the front design of the Vivo X23 is compared with OPPO R17 to show the display notch difference.

Vivo has claimed that the Vivo X23 will be offering 91 percent screen-to-body ratio and this is quite evident in the above photos. The reflective glass rear gives a premium appeal. The company has already confirmed that it will be arriving in color gradient options Magic Night Black, Phantom Purple and Phantom Purple. The handset shown is the black version of the phone.

The above photo that compares the front design of both phones shows that the OPPO R17 placed on the left has a drop-like notch whereas the notch on X23 appears round. The below image shows the differences in the positioning of the rear dual cameras on both phones. The X23 and R17 lack rear mounted fingerprint scanner as these devices are equipped with under-display fingerprint scanner.

Xiaomi sells Poco F1 units worth Rs. 2 billion ($28million) in less than five minutes

The Poco F1 is still trending in India and beyond. That is because the device is proving to be one amazing model, propelled by its premium build, powerful flagship specs lineup and cheap pricing. The Xiaomi sub-brand model went on its first sale on Wednesday in India and as expected, it was a successful outing. The phone was sold on Mi.com and Flipkart.

In a “Thank you” tweet after the flash sale, Poco India disclosed that it sold more than Rs. 200 crore (Rs. 2 billion) worth of Poco F1 which is roughly $28 million USD in just 5 minutes. That is to say, all the units were sold out in just about 5 minutes. The sale is tipped to be Flipkart’s biggest and fastest flagship sale ever. A rough estimate of the number of units sold shows the company may have shipped over 68,985 units. That is if most persons bought the high-end model. Whereas, if most buyers went for the base model, Xiaomi may have sold up to 100,000 units within the five minutes. The exact number of units sold was not revealed, though.
