Nokia X6 Hands On Pictures: Nokia Hits With Its First Phone With A Notch

Nokia finally took the wraps off the Nokia X6 smartphone in a ceremony held in Beijing China. The X6 is coming as Nokia’s first smartphone with a notch on its display and we must admit the device lived up to expectation, that is if you have no problem with smartphones having a display notch.

Indeed, the Nokia X6 comes with a cut-out on its display which is a compromise on the symmetry so as to create a near bezel-less display design. That is obvious at the top edge and the sides but the chin still has a noticeable bezel. The front design really isn’t very much different from other notch-packing smartphones around except that the cut-out is just moderate in size, a little bigger than the Essential Phone’s and smaller than iPhone X’s. The display size is 5.88 inches with the 19:9 aspect ratio and an FHD+ resolution of 2280 × 1080 pixels. The display gets further protection from a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 panel.Nokia X6

The back of the Nokia X6 is just as premium as the front aspect. While the mid-frame is made of aluminium alloy, the rear panel is wrapped with Corning Gorilla Glass just like the display, giving the device a glass body. The premium look will be available in Black, White and Dark Blue colours. The volume rockers and power buttons lie at the right side of the display while the SIM tray is at the left side.Nokia X6

The device further packs a dual camera setup at the rear which is aligned in a vertical plane at the middle. The rear camera is a 16MP+5MP combo with a 16MP sensor at the front for selfies. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor just under the cameras but there is equally Face Unlock feature onboard. Other top-notch features include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C. The device gets its juice from a 3,060mAh which from experience, isn’t the best they could have done but there is QC 3.0 fast charging technology onboard. nokia x6

Blackview P10000 Pro Review – A 11000mAh Battery Monster!

This is the Blackview P10000 Pro – a phone with a ridiculously huge 11000mAh battery and pretty good specs. The official claims are that this phone can achieve a whopping 50 days of standby time, which is just insane. At the moment, the phone costs about $200. Stay tuned for a full Blackview P10000 Pro review to learn all the pros and cons of this device.

VIDEO REVIEW

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZvGfZn4HxY[/embedyt]

UNBOXING

The phone ships with all the usual stuff and many extra cables, adapters, a screen protector and last but not least, a soft TPU case to protect the phone.

DESIGN, DISPLAY, BATTERY LIFE

First of all, let’s talk about the design. The phone is huge, thick and heavy and it seems it could crush any other phone on the market. That means it’s not always comfortable to hold the phone or put it in your pocket. This is the tradeoff you need to accept if you want to have a huge battery that literally lasts forever. The device uses a metal frame on the sides, rubberized plastic on the top and bottom and glass on the back.

I didn’t test the exact standby time as I would need almost 2 months to do that. What I did test was the real-life usage of the phone. I could use the P10000 Pro for almost a week or even more. My record screen-on time was over 30 hours and my usage included gaming, taking a lot of pictures and so on. If you use the phone just for the basic stuff, you can expect to achieve even 40 hours of SOT. This phone is just a battery beast.

In case you need to recharge the phone, you can do that in just about 5 hours with the supplied charger.

I found the display to be very good both indoors and outdoors. The phone has an LED notification light, LED flash for selfies and a dual camera setup on the front.

On the back, there is another dual-camera system that I will talk about in detail a bit later in this review.

The phone does not have the headset jack but you get an adapter in the retail box and the sound quality using it is pretty good. The fingerprint scanner is implemented on the side. Even though it is not my favorite position, the reader works fine and it is fairly accurate. The face unlock feature is here and it works well in good lighting but it’s not reliable in the lower-lit environment, that’s why I prefer using the fingerprint reader.

Finally, the loudspeaker get can really loud and the overall quality is quite good for a budget phone.

HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE

In terms of hardware, the phone ships with pretty good specs for the price. The P10000 has a Helio P23 chip, 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM + SD card slot.

The gaming performance is quite good too. You should expect some skipped frames here and there in some games but in general, I don’t have major complaints since this is the budget phone after all.

USER INTERFACE

The device runs on Android 7.1 out of the box and we have a typical Blackview’s interface. That means that the UI is a mixture of stock Android and some added features and customization options. You can customize the navigation bar, LED notification light, quickly open up the camera or use other gesture controls. In general, I found the performance to be pretty good, I have no complaints.

IMAGE QUALITY

The overall image quality is just average. You can take some decent daylight images but that’s about it. Also, pictures taken with the bokeh effect look kind of artificial. Night image quality is quite bad, like on most of the budget phones.

On the other hand, selfies look nice and sharp but if you want to use bokeh mode, expect to see artificial-looking pictures.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah81eHBUQsg[/embedyt] [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v25wRZQKmVc[/embedyt]

Video quality using both main and front-facing cameras is quite average. Again, this is the case with most of the budget phones.

CONNECTIVITY

In terms of connectivity, the phone performs great. Call quality and signal reception are great and even GPS is very accurate. In addition, there are quite a few sensors on board, including gyroscope.

CONCLUSIONS

The Blackview P10000 Pro is a battery monster that comes with both pros and cons.

As expected, camera performance could be better but other than that, the P10000 Pro shapes up to a pretty good offering for the price of about $200 considering the fact that you get an insanely good battery, pretty good display, and decent overall performance.

Obviously, this phone is definitely not for everyone due to its sheer size and weight but if you need a budget phone with an insane battery life, we think that the P10000 Pro is a decent budget option worth checking out.

OnePlus Bullets Wireless Headphones Unveiled With Fast Charging, Google Assistant Support

OnePlus 6 is the leading star of today’s event, but it wasn’t the only device launched by the former Chinese startup owned by BBK Electronics. Alongside the new amazing flagship, the company has just announced a new pair of Bullets headphones. It is the first pair of wireless headphones by OnePlus and it obviously works through the Bluetooth connectivity. The new headphones come with an around-neck design (a perfect solution for fitness and sport) and weather resistance, as well as some innovative features.

The company has also equipped the OnePlus Bullet Wireless headphones with fast charging technology. OnePlus 6 Is Here To Slay The Expensive Flagships Armed With A Notch & An Affordable Price Tag

Ever since the first OnePlus One made it to the market, the company has made its name for releasing flagship killers.

But is the OnePlus 6 worthy of this tagline? Let’s find out!

It’s become a tradition for OnePlus flagships to be revealed in detail much before its official launch. The same was applicable for the OnePlus 6 and everything we knew about the phone before launch has come out to be true. So, there are no surprises in this article.

OnePlus 6 01

OnePlus 6 Design

The OnePlus 6 has joined the numerous flagships of 2018 that feature a glass body. Some might argue that metal is better than glass, but OnePlus defends this move by saying that the glass body is more malleable than a metal one and its lighter too. Plus, with Gorilla Glass 5 protection at the back (as well as front), the phone is set to take a few hits without breaking down. In fact, OnePlus claims that the OnePlus 6 is as durable as its predecessors with a metal body. Personally, I can vouch for OnePlus’ sturdy built quality as my old OnePlus 3T has slipped off my hands numerous times. The phone does features a few dents here and there, but apart from that, the device still performs flawlessly. So it’s good to hear that the GG5 back is as good as the previous OnePlus flagships.

The back features a vertically arranged dual camera setup, with a dual LED flash, pill shaped fingerprint sensor, and the OnePlus logo just below it. The company has ensured that the design is symmetrical and looks good. There’s a metal frame that goes around the glass body. The alert slider is now located on the right, above the power button. The volume buttons stay on the left like the previous OnePlus phones. The bottom features the USB Type-C port, speakers, and a headphone jack.

The OnePlus 6 is water resistant too, but the company hasn’t revealed an official IP certification. There are three color options, Mirror Black (high gloss), Midnight Black (Matte finish), and Silk White. The White color model is unfortunately a limited edition variant and will be available for sale later in June.

OnePlus 6 Hardware

You get the best hardware of 2018 inside the OnePlus 6. So love it or hate it, but the notch is here to stay. The phone features a 6.28-inch 2280 x 1080 tall 19:9 AMOLED display, with a notch on top. Of course, there’s an option to get rid of the notch inside the software, but that simply means you’ll be putting a black bar on the sides of the notch, technically wasting the available screen space.

Snapdragon 845 is inside with 6GB / 8GB RAM and 64GB/ 128GB/ 256GB ROM options. There’s dual SIM card slots and support for 40 bands across Europe and Americas. The battery size is nothing extraordinary, but with the 10nm SD845 and software optimisations, the 3300mAh battery should last an entire day.

As for the camera department, the OnePlus 6 comes with a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture, 1.22um pixels and OIS. The larger pixel size of the main camera is said to improve the low light performance. There’s a 20MP secondary camera for depth information. The phone supports 4K videos at 60 fps which puts it in the same ranks as Galaxy S9 and iPX. Slo-mo videos can be shot at 480 fps @ 720p for up to a minute. You get a new video editor too with features such as adding filters, and music.

Unfortunately, there was no mention of wireless charging on the device.

OnePlus 6 Software

You get a familiar Oxygen OS on the OnePlus 6 with Android 8.1. Of course, you can test out the latest Android P beta on the phone too. What’s new in the OS is the gesture support. For example, swiping left or right takes you a step back or forward. Similarly swiping up from the home screen goes back home. This gives you the opportunity to free up the space taken by on screen buttons. There are the other standard features such as reading mode, gaming mode etc.

OnePlus 6 Pricing

In this age of premium smartphones costing nearly thousands of dollars, OnePlus is still fairly affordable. As expected, the company did increase the pricing of its new flagship, but as Carl Pei mentioned in the launch event, the company has always focused on fair pricing. And with the OnePlus 6, the pricing is quite fair indeed.

The OnePlus 6 starts at $529, which is a $30 increase as compared to the starting price of the OnePlus 5T.

Here are the official OnePlus 6 prices of all the variants:

6GB+64GB Mirror Black – $529

8GB+128GB Mirror Black – $579

8GB+128GB Midnight Black – $579

8GB+256GB Midnight Black – $629

8GB+128GB Silk White – $579

So the pricing starts from $529 and goes up to $629. That’s pretty aggressive for a 2018 flagship smartphone!

The only issue here is that the Silk White variant is a limited edition, so we don’t know how many units will be up for grabs. Also, the 256GB version is only available in the Midnight Black edition.

Overall, I’d say well done OnePlus!

What are your thoughts?

Early OnePlus 6 Hands On Images Reveals Everything About The Phone’s Design Before Launch

We are just a three hours away from the official launch of the OnePlus 6, but looks like the leaks will continue to come in. This time, we have got some pretty high quality hands on images of the handset, well before its showcased officially. The pictures practically confirm at least three color options for the device: White, Mirror Black, and another Black version (Matte?).

[envira-gallery id=”191213″]

The OnePlus 6 hands on images that were leaked today practically confirm the entire design of the handset. So you get a notch up front along with a thin chin at the bottom. The back features the dual camera setup in a vertical arrangement, flash, and a fingerprint sensor below it. Below the setup lies the OnePlus logo. The alert slider is shifted to the right above the power button while the volume buttons stay on the left as its predecessor.

The White OnePlus 6 clearly stands out from the crowd. We are big fans of white smartphones if they are made well, and the company isn’t new to making high quality, good looking white models. The OnePlus 6 was also released in Sandstone White and it was definitely a beautiful phone. We are not quite sure whether this is the Sandstone White OnePlus 6 version, but it surely doesn’t look too glossy. There are two more color options available, the high gloss Mirror Black OnePlus 6 and the Matte like Black OnePlus 6.

Xiaomi’s Upcoming Shenzhen Event Has Multiple Product Launches, Confirms Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun

Yesterday, Xiaomi had confirmed through its official Weibo account that it will be soon holding a launch event in Shenzhen. Early rumors had claimed that Xiaomi would be launching the Xiaomi Mi 7 phone by the first half of 2018. Hence, the Shenzhen event could be used to announce the arrival of the Mi 7 flagship. However, well-known industry expert Kevin Wang claimed on Weibo that Xiaomi will be using the same platform to announce many new products. Interestingly, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has quoted the same Weibo post by Wang to confirm that his company will indeed launch “a variety of new products” through the Shenzhen event.

Xiaomi Shenzhen Event

The press conference that will be held at Shenzhen by the company is dubbed as Xiaomi’s 2018 Annual Product Launch. This seems to be the most important launch event for Xiaomi this year. Hence, apart from Xiaomi Mi 7 that is likely to arrive with under-display fingerprint scanner, the Chinese firm is also rumored to debut the 8th Anniversary Edition phone. The latter is also being referred to as Xiaomi Mi 8.

Xiaomi's Upcoming Launch Event in Shenzhen 1

Xiaomi Mi 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone has been reportedly spotted on the Chinese edition of Mi Store app. The handset is expected to arrive as the world’s first Android phone with 3D facial recognition feature.

The Mi Band 3 fitness tracker is also rumored to get official at the Shenzhen event. The Mi Band 2 was launched in June last year. Hence, the company could be aiming to launch its successor phone exactly after one year. The Mi Band 3 is rumored to feature an OLED display that will be enabled with gestures support. Other rumored features of the Mi Band 3 include IP67 rated body, NFC support and Bluetooth 4.2.

Xiaomi is yet to confirm on the date of the upcoming Shenzhen event.

Xiaomi Mi 8th Anniversary Edition Phone Spotted on Mi Store App; Could be Fake

Xiaomi is speculated to debut Xiaomi Mi 8 as the company’s 8th anniversary smartphone alongside the Mi 7 through a launch event in Shenzhen. There is no information on when it will be holding the unveil event. Hence, these phones are rumored to go official either by the end of this month or in June. Recent reports have revealed that the Chinese manufacturer will be launching a special edition phone to celebrate the 8th anniversary of the company. Rumors are rife that it will be arriving with an iPhone X-like advanced 3D facial recognition feature. Today, a Chinese leakster with Kumamoto Technology Weibo account has shared an image showing the Xiaomi Mi 8th Anniversary Edition smartphone sitting alongside other Mi series phone on the Mi Store app has appeared online. This seems to be yet another proof that the company may debut the 8th anniversary special edition phone soon.

As it can be seen in the above image, the handset is found listed with Xiaomi Mi 8th Anniversary Edition on China’s Mi Store app. Some rumors have claimed that this handset could be called Xiaomi Mi 8. The company is also speculated to launch the Xiaomi Mi 7 phone, but the handset is not listed on the app. The leakster claims that the company will not be launching the Mi 7 phone. As of this writing, there is no information available on the specs of the 8th anniversary Xiaomi phone.

Rumors have it that it will be having a notched display. The notch of the Xiaomi Mi 8 is speculated to wider than the notched Android smartphones that have launched so far. The probable reason behind it is that it is rumored to include structured light 3D module for scanning the face of the user in 3D. The above image is speculated to be 3D face recognition module of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 8.

There is no confirmation on the authenticity of the above image. It’s not very difficult to modify a screenshot of the Mi Store app to add a listing for the rumored Mi 8 Anniversary Edition smartphone. Hence, we advise our readers to digest this report with a grain of salt.

Lenovo VP Reveals The Lenovo Z5 Will Come With A Massive 4TB Storage, Launch in June

Chinese innovative startup Smartisan stunned the smartphone world yesterday with the launch of the flagship Smartisan R1 packing 1TB of UFS 2.1 flash memory. This is the world’s first smartphone with such an expansive storage option. There may be another stunner from China soon anyway. That is if the latest disclosure by Lenovo‘s VP Chang Cheng is anything to go by.Lenovo Z5

Mr Cheng has been the source of all we know so far about the Lenovo Z5, including the name. He has now revealed that the flagship model will come with a mammoth 4TB of storage. 4TB of flash memory looks like an overkill as it is more than enough storage for most users. In the end, a large chunk of the storage space may end up being unused. But for stats, the VP disclosed 4TB of storage can store up to 1 million photos, 2000 HD movies, and 150,000 lossless music. The Lenovo VP also disclosed in the post that the device is expected to be launched in June.  Lenovo Z5

Apart from the massive storage space, the Lenovo Z5 is expected to come with a high screen ratio of up to 95% as well as a metal mid-frame. The back of the device will be made of glass. Other specs may include a MediaTek Helio P60 chip considering the VP’s praise of the premium MediaTek chip a while back. However, the best bet would be a flagship processor like Snapdragon 845. We expect more details to unravel as time goes on.

New Nokia Phones Debuting on May 29; Could it be Launching 2018 Editions of Nokia 2, 3 and 5?

HMD Global has sent out media invites for an upcoming launch event that will be held at 7 PM on May 29 in Russia. However, the information on the venue of the event has been blurred out in the invitation image. The invitation reveals that it is a global launch event through which the Finnish firm will be announcing new Nokia phones.

As it can be seen below, the invitation for May 29 event is in Russian language. The translated text on the invitation reads “Dear Friends. We invite you to worldwide premiere new Nokia phones.” What’s intriguing about the invitation is the inclusion of the words “the worldwide premiere” which suggests that the company could be gearing up to launch new phones that haven’t been unveiled yet this year.

HMD Global has so far launched Nokia 8110 4G, Nokia 3310 4G, Nokia 1, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco. Apart from the Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 1, all the other smartphones are available for buying in Russia, reported Nokia Power User.

The invitation states that May 29 launch event will be attended by the entire top management of the company including CEO, CMO and CPU. Hence, there is a possibility that the company may unveil brand new Nokia phones later this month.

HMD Global CMO Pekka Rentala has already said that the company will be launching 2018 editions of Nokia 2, 3 and Nokia 5. In the recent past, three unidentified Nokia phones with model numbers such as TA-1075, TA-1105 and TA-1116 have received certification in Russia. Also, a user agent profile has recently confirmed that the Nokia 3.1 (aka Nokia 3 2018) smartphone truly exists. As of this writing, there are no details available on the specs of rumored 2018 versions of Nokia 2, 3 and 5.

Do you think that HMD Global will unveil Nokia 2 (2018), Nokia 3 (2018) and Nokia 5 (2018) at the upcoming unveil event? Share us your thoughts by posting your comments below.

Samsung Is In Talks With ZTE And Others To Supply Mobile Processors

Samsung, the South Korean based electronics giant, is currently in talks with several smartphone manufacturers, including China-based ZTE, to supply mobile processor chips. This was confirmed by a senior executive of Samsung.

With this move of supplying its mobile processors to other smartphone manufacturers, Samsung is now getting closer to direct competition with Qualcomm, which is currently dominating the mobile chipset segment.

Samsung

In a statement, Samsung has mentioned that there is no certainty that deal with ZTE Corp will be reached and that it treats all of its vendors equally. According to Counterpoint, Samsung’s System LSI business saw a 27 percent rise in shipments last year.

Samsung generates a significant amount of profit from memory chips and the South Korean company has been beefing up development of logic chips, including mobile processors, images sensors as well as automotive chips in order to diversify its business.

The company has been using in-house developed Exynos mobile chipsets for its own flagship smartphones under its Galaxy lineup. However, as for the external customers of its mobile chipsets, it has only one client — Meizu, which is a China-based smartphone manufacturer.

Inyup Kang, who is the head of Samsung System LSI — a logic chip development unit, told in an interview that the company is talking with all original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and is expecting to announce its new clients in the first half of 2019.

This move could give a sigh of relief to China-based ZTE Corp, which has been banned by the United States of America for seven years. As a part of the ban, none of the US-based companies can provide software or hardware components to ZTE Corp.

Recently, Taiwanese government also announced that Taiwan-based companies will have to take permission before supplying components to ZTE Corp. MediaTek, a mobile chipset manufacturer, complied with the new rules and has been granted permission to supply its chipsets to ZTE.

Apart from Samsung, Qualcomm is also facing tough competition from China-based Huawei, which also develops in-house mobile processors under HiSilicon branding for its own and its subsidiary Honor‘s smartphones.

Lenovo K8 Note Forum Site Temporarily Closed After Facing Criticism Due to Failed Android Oreo Update

At the beginning of this month, Lenovo rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the users of Lenovo K8 Note. However, the update has brought along plenty of issues to the device. Apparently, K8 Note users who have encountered multiple problems after installing the update have flooded the official forum site with numerous new topics and most of them have been created without checking whether the topics already exists or not. In a bid to control the situation, the company has decided to temporarily disallow users from creating new threads.

One of the forum site administrators named Andy_Lenovo has created a new topic that reads “Why Can’t I Create a New Topic?” (as shown below in the image). The post states that majority of threads that have been created in the last few days are duplicates since members have added new topics without checking whether the same topic exists on the forum or not.

Since the forum got flooded with duplicate topics, the option to create new topics on the forum site has been disabled. The administrator added that the existing duplicates are required to be merged with base threads or locked which is a time-consuming process. Also, he has requested users to even stop searching for topics before adding a new post because administrators and moderators require more time to deal with the existing threads. As expected, Andy_Lenovo’s post has also met with fresh set of complaints.

Many smartphone OEMs have encountered problems while pushing Android Oreo update to their devices. Almost every smartphone OEM had to stop the rollout of the Android Oreo update due to unexpected bugs. As far as Lenovo K8 Note is concerned, some users have complained that they are facing camera lag after installing the firmware update while others have claimed that the notification LED has stopped functioning.

Some are experiencing lag while accessing the systems apps such as call history in the phone app or the Settings app. Apart from system apps, those apps that have been installed through the Play Store are also working sluggishly even after reinstalling them. Some users have said that the device is heating up after the update and it is taking more time than usual to charge the phone. Some settings like the Dolby Atmos quick action has disappeared from the quick settings.

As of this writing, there is no confirmation from Lenovo on when it will be rolling out a stable Oreo update for K8 Note.

Honor 10 UK

The Honor 10 can be referred to as a cheaper alternative to the Huawei P20 but without the Leica cameras. The phone comes with the same Kirin 970 found in the P20, P20 Pro, and Porsche Design Mate RS, so performance is practically the same.

So it can recognize if the subject is a pet, building, food, lake, sky, or hill and automatically adjusts the camera to the best settings. Honor says scene recognition for a cloudy day, ancient architecture, bicycles, and pandas will be added later via an update.

Honor 10 Cameras

The front camera is a 24MP sensor with AI features that adjusts lighting condition automatically. It also has a 3D portrait lighting mode for professional portrait images. There is a fingerprint scanner below the display. Honor says it is an ultrasonic sensor that works even with wet hands. It also has face unlock which is said to be super fast.

Honor 10 Scene Recognition

The Honor 10 packs a 3400mAh battery with support for Honor Supercharge 5V/4.5A which lets you charge the phone to 50% in just 25 minutes.

The phone runs EMUI 8.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. It has dual SIM support, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
