1byone Bluetooth Keyboard Review: UNBOXING

IMG_5346 IMG_5351
The device comes in a simple packaging and all you are getting is the keyboard itself,  some documentation and a charging cable.

1byone Bluetooth Keyboard Review: DESIGN and FEATURES

IMG_5353 IMG_5355
When it comes to the design, the exterior of the 1byone Bluetooth keyboard is made of metal and it is very well constructed.
The key feature is that the keyboard is very compact and that’s because it easily unfolds into a laptop sized keyboard. As far as the unfolding mechanism, it doesn’t seem to break any time soon.
IMG_5359
As far as the actual keyboard buttons, they have a good tactile feedback and the keys don’t feel cheap. However, the spaces between they keys are narrower than on the typical laptop keyboard but once you get used to them, they work great.
IMG_5377
They keyboard works with lots of devices that have Bluetooth connectivity.  I had no issues pairing it up and using with the iPad or Android smartphones.
One of the key features is the battery life, which is said to last up to 114 days on standby or 64 hours of continuous use. Well, I couldn’t test that but the keyboard didn’t die during my testing period.

1byone Bluetooth Keyboard Review: CONCLUSIONS

IMG_5382
All in all, the 1byone Bluetooth keyboard looks good, works great and it is very compact when folded but it serves as a normal keyboard when unfolded.
The only shortcoming is that the keyboard didn’t re-connect to the iPad automatically a few times.
IMG_5384
The price of $37 doesn’t make this device cheap but this solution is definitely worth checking out if you are in the market of compact Bluetooth keyboards.

Will Huawei Work On The Nexus 7 2016 Project?

For the first time in years, a Chinese smartphone maker, Huawei manufactured a Nexus smartphone in 2015.

Now, according to insider sources, Huawei is keen to start working on the Nexus 7 device. If Google chooses Huawei once again, then it will be the second consecutive time the company will make a Nexus device.

huawei nexus 7 2016

The source reveals that the 2016 Nexus 7 project has already begun. Although Huawei still wants to continue as the Nexus maker for the second consecutive year, it is said that Google is yet to confirm it. Also, we still don’t know whether this is the new Nexus 7 tablet or is it the Nexus 7 smartphone.

nexus 7 tabl

Since the Nexus 7 name has been used exclusively for the tablet lineup till now, the source could be hinting at a new tablet from the company. However, we are not quite sure of that at the moment, so its best to wait for some more concrete details in the coming months.

The company’s current Nexus model, the Huawei 6P, isn’t without complaints, but it’s still a great flagship Android phone. The company has designed the phone pretty well and has provided enough firepower under the hood to tackle all tasks. So, if Google continues with Huawei for another year, it won’t be surprising.

So, what do you think? Should Huawei continue as the Nexus maker for the second year? Or do you think any other company will be able to make better Nexus phones that Huawei?

Huawei’s All Metal Enjoy 5S Releases On Dec 3, Will Take On the Redmi Note 3

A week back, we reported that Huawei was preparing a new all metal smartphone to take on the newly launched Redmi Note 3. The phone was expected to be called as the Honor 5X Plus, but now, the company has confirmed via its official Weibo page that the phone will be called as the Huawei Enjoy 5S. It will reportedly be a better variant of the Enjoy 5 phone that was launched back in October in China.

Huawei Enjoy 5S

One of the biggest highlights of the phone will be it’s all metal body. Since most customers identify metal body as a sign of premium design, we are seeing many budget smartphones with a metal design. The company has also confirmed that the phone will come with dual SIM card slots and MicroSD card slot.

Huawei 5X Enjoy

As for the specs, it’s going to be much better than its lower-end sibling, the Enjoy 5. According to a leaked benchmark listing on GFXBench, the Enjoy 5S with the model name Huawei ABC-UL00 will feature a 5.2-inch FHD 1080p display and Kirin 935 octa-core chip under the hood. Now that Kirin 950 is taking over the flagship segment, 935 will be a pretty good chip for mid-range devices. So, it looks like Huawei will start using Kirin 935 like Mediatek did with its Helio X10.

Other specs include a 3GB RAM, 64GB storage, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front shooter and Android 5.1.1 with Huawei’s Emotion UI on top. Although the listing said nothing about the battery, you can expect it to be around 4000mAh. Such a large battery makes sense since Enjoy 5 had one and the new Redmi Note 3 also features a 4000mah battery.

The Huawei Enjoy 5S seems to be a great smartphone with such specs. Now, we just have to wait for its official unveiling which will be on December 3 for more details.

Pricing will be a sensitive area as Huawei cannot afford to price it too high since the presence of the Redmi Note 3 will affect its sales. The 3GB RAM version of the Note 3 retails for 1099 Yuan which converts to around $172. So, Huawei will have to price it somewhere around this figure to stay competitive.

What do you think will be the ideal price for the Huawei Enjoy 5S?

OPPO R7S Plus With 4GB RAM & 64GB storage Passes TENAA

After the launch of the OPPO R7S back in October, we have been hearing about an upgraded variant of the device called as the OPPO R7S Plus. This particular device will be a larger sized model featuring better specs.

oppo r7s plus

The phone had already passed TENAA a few weeks back, but now the listing has been updated which reveals a few more details about the device. The OPPO R7S Plus will now reportedly come with 4GB of RAM and 32GB and 64GB of internal storage variants. There will be a large 6-inch display up front with 2.5D glass and FHD 1920 x 1080p resolution. The processor is said to be the same as the R7S, i.e. Snapdragon 615 octa-core chip. Recent reports have also hinted of MT6795 Helio X10 powered variant.

oppo r7s plus 03

At the back, you can expect to find the same 13MP camera as its smaller sibling. Even the front 8MP shooter is said to be the same. However, the battery will reportedly be larger, measuring 4100mAh. With VOOC fast charging tech, you won’t have to worry about charging the device in between the day.

oppo r7s plus 02

Pricing is not expected to be cheap. The 4GB variant with Snapdragon 615 on board is expected to cost as much as 3299 Yuan which comes to around $517.

Is The Xiaomi Mi 5 Flagship In Its Final Stages?

Back on November 24, in an interview after the conference, Lei Jun had said that he was currently using the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship and was impressed with it. This proved that the Mi 5 prototype was all ready and working.

weibopost lei jun 02

However, yesterday, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun made a few Weibo posts on the social micro-blogging website. While they were just general posts, saying nothing about the phone in use, at the bottom of the post, we could see that it was posted by an unknown Xiaomi phone. In case you have ever seen Weibo, usually when posting from a phone, the model name of the phone is always displayed at the bottom of the post. So, given that Weibo couldn’t identify the model name of the new Xiaomi device, many believe that this could be the Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship.

weibo post leijun

So, if Lei Jun has started using the new Xiaomi Mi 5 for activities like posting on Weibo, could it mean that the phone is in its final stages? If that’s the case, then we should see the phone release soon, something in January-February period.

Earlier leaked Mi5 render
Earlier leaked Mi5 render

Specs wise, the Mi 5 is expected to feature high-end features. It should come with the new Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4GB RAM and 16GB of storage. A recent comment from Pan Jiutang revealed that the phone could come with a 5.2-inch display with 2K or 4K resolution. These are going to be AMOLED panels, a deviation from IPS LCD panels used by the company in most phones of its phones these days. Battery should be large, and the other specs are expected to be pretty good as well.

Since the launch shouldn’t be far off, we can expect to see a lot more information about the device in the next few weeks. So, stay tuned!

Cubot X17 comes with the instruction manuals, screen protector, USB cable, charging brick, SIM ejector pin and a hard plastic case.

Cubot X17: DESIGN

img_5433 img_5434

The very first impressions are that the phone is very well made and it is very thin at just 6.1mm. Also, the materials used in the construction mainly involve metal and it adds that premium look and feel.

img_5438

The Cubot X17 has a 5″ display and thus it is a compact phone, so you can manage it with one hand.

img_5442

Although the design looks nice, I immediately recognised that it looks like the vivo X5 Max or Oppo R5. It is not necessarily a bad thing and we’ve seen this done before by other Chinese manufacturers.

Cubot X17: INITIAL IMPRESSIONS

To be honest, I’ve been playing around with the Cubot X17 for a few days already and the thing I like most is the design and build. Also, the phone is really compact and it doesn’t bother me when I am going out as I usually wear skinny jeans.

The phone runs on Android 5.1 out of the box. I’ve installed the usual apps and a few games, and some other apps that I use to test the phones out during the reviews. So far, everything’s running smoothly but I still need a few more days to tell a final opinion.

The full Cubot X17 review is coming out later this week. Stay tuned to Gizmochina.

Elephone M3 Helio P10 USB Type C for just $99

elephone m3 silver

Having recently released their Elephone M1 and M2 all metal business phones, we have today received details of yet another Elephone series handset soon to join the range.

Elephone have once again chosen to go with an all metal body construction for the Elephone M3.

Other specifications have been improved and should hopefully stand the phone in good stead amongst its budget peers.

The addition of USB Type C connector and Mediatek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor on the Elephone M3, means that we will hopefully start to see other manufacturers also start to include higher specifications on their budget phones.

The renders show a good looking handset with 2.5d glass and nicely chamfered chassis along with a metal back that reflects the curvature of the 2.5d glass edges of the display. Hopefully when it is released the phone will look as good in person as it does in these renders (best not to forget that Elephone are the king of great renders but have not always managed to deliver what has been shown).

Another nice feature of the M3 is that it will ship with Android os6 Marshmallow, I just hope that the screen and cameras on the Elephone M3 will be of decent quality, if they can get those bits right this would be a great second handset.

Sow what do you think looking at the renders and the specs that we know so far and given the target price of $99 (£66) could this be going on your shopping list?

Please feel free to leave comments and questions below, I will keep you informed as and when I receive more information about the Elephone M3

The Elephone Vowney release is getting ever closer and as the release date approaches, more information and news is being made available.

Today we have received screenshots showing the Elephone Vowney Antutu scores.

elephone vowney antutu 1

Given the phones 2k bezel less screen and Mediatek Helio X10 (MT6795) cpu clocked at 1.9Ghz, the scores appear to be pretty good, coming in at 57435 whilst looking at the Antutu numbers it may not be the most powerful of the current handsets, but it does represent good value for money and is currently available to pre order for just $299.99

It would be interesting to see how the Vowney Light at $239.99 with its Full HD screen and 3gb of Ram performs in comparison. will the lower screen resolution make up for the 1gb of Ram deficit? do you need a 2k screen and the extra 1gb of Ram? or will you prefer to save $60.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Teardown: More Stuff Inside A Compact Body

Xiaomi announced the new Redmi Note 3 handset at its November 24 event in Beijing, China. The company managed to impress us all with this new release, given that it offers much more at $140 than the Redmi Note 2 which was already offering great value for money.

redmi note 3 teardown 01

Like always, once a phone hits the market, people are curious about its internal components. Note 3 was no exception as a Chinese website performed a teardown of the device to its little components, revealing whats exactly inside this new smartphone.

redmi note 3 teardown 02

Xiaomi has done a great job designing the device. Despite the new additions inside, the phone measures almost the same as its previous generation Redmi Note 2. The Note 3 measures 152mm in height as compared to 150mm on the Redmi Note 2 model and the width is the same on both the devices. Even in the thickness department, the new model is just 0.4mm thicker but that’s totally acceptable thanks to its huge 4000mAh battery. In short, the company has manged to pack in much more stuff than it could previously.

The tear down also reveals some of the manufacturers of internal components like the fingerprint sensor is from FPC (1022), and camera from Samsung (S5K3M2 ISOCELL Sensor). These components are packed closer together than the Redmi Note 2 and hence, the company has applied thermal paste in some places to prevent overheating.

Overall, it looks like the company has done a good job with the design. Unfortunately, unlike the guys over at iFixit, these guys didn’t mention a repair-ability score. But you can check out the teardown from the pictures down below.

Xiaomi May Stock Up Mi 5 In Plenty, Expected Release In January 2016

Some of the fans were disappointed to see that Xiaomi didn’t update its flagship Mi series with the new Mi 5 model. Instead, at the Nov 24 event we got to meet the new Xiaomi Redmi 3 and the Mi Pad 2. However, at the interview after the event Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun revealed a few details about the device.

800px-Xiaomi_logo

He said that Xiaomi puts in about 12 to 18 months of development time for the Mi series flagship, which is much higher than competitors. As a result, he says that the phone will be perfect as it will come with the best components after careful research and tests. In fact, Lei Jun revealed that he was currently using the flagship Mi 5 and he found it amazing.

xiaomi mi 5 release stock

According to the latest rumors, we will meet the new Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship as soon as January 2016. Now, Pan Jiutang, the analyst from China has revealed some more details about the upcoming device.

He revealed earlier today via a Weibo post that Xiaomi will start selling Mi 5 to the masses after the Spring Festival that happens in February in China. There will be a plenty of stock available for sale, which means the company hopes to sell a lot of units of the upcoming flagship.

Specs wise, nothing is confirmed, but it is said that the phone will feature the new Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset with a 5.2-inch FHD 1080p display and 4GB of RAM. There will be a 3000mAh battery on board. Details about the camera and other specifications is yet to be known.

Overall, it looks like we will have to wait at least a couple of months more for the Xiaomi Mi 5 launch. Since the company is taking so much time to update the lineup, we hope that the phone offers the best specs for a decent price.

Personally, I feel anything under $400 would be a good bargain. What do you think?

UMi Rome Hands On: 3GB RAM Inside A Premium Body

UMi announced the UMi Rome handset last week and the phone managed to get quite the attention because of its impressive specs and more than impressive pricing. The phone came with 3GB of RAM on board but costs just $89.99 which is one of the best specs we have seen in this price range.

umi rome 01

Now, we have the first hands on images of the UMi Rome and the phone is quite impressive to look at as well. Usually, companies either focus on the looks or the specs when it comes to budget devices, however, it looks like with Rome, UMi has done quite a good job.

umi rome 03

The phone comes with a solid metal frame with round corners, which is pretty much what we see in most mid-range phones these days. The chassis is reportedly machined over 100 times to give it a posh look. One of the highlights of the device is the presence of the new USB Type-C port, which is usually only found on mid-range and flagship models. Overall, looks seems to be one area where the company has done its home work.

umi rome 02

As for the specs, the phone comes with MT6753 octa-core chip, 3GB RAM, 13MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. The battery of 2500mAh is decent for lasting a day long.

umi rome 04

You can currently pre-order the device from Banggood for $99.99. After the pre-order period, the price goes up to $119.99.

Huawei Announces Mate 8 Flagship With Kirin 950 & 16MP Sony IMX298 Camera

UPDATE: Company has revealed the pricing for the three variants. The 3GB + 32GB version starts at 2999 Yuan ($469), 4GB + 64GB at 3699 Yuan ($578) and finally 4GB + 128GB at 4399 Yuan ($688).

After so many weeks of teasers and rumors, Huawei has unveiled the brand new Huawei Mate 8 flagship. This is the second device in the Mate family this year, with the Mate S launched just a couple of months back.

Huawei-Mate-8-01

Huawei Mate 8 will stand right on top of the Mate family, featuring top-end specs. The device, as confirmed earlier will feature the company’s brand new TSMC’s 16nm based Kirin 950 chipset. The chip is one of the fastest available SoCs in the market, at least according to the recent benchmark tests. It features quad Cortex A72 cores clocked at 2.3GHz and quad Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz making sure there’s balance between high-performance and efficiency. Huawei revealed at the unveiling that the new CPU provides 100% improvement as compared to previous generation. The GPU is even better with 125% improvement.

There will be three variants of the device, one with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage, another with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage and finally the third one with 4GB RAM and 128GB of storage. We still don’t know whether there will be a MicroSD card slot present.

Huawei-Mate-8-02

As for the display, the phone comes with negative LCD screen with 95 percent color gamut, better than the iPhone 6S Plus, as the company pointed out at the launch today. Its a large 6-inch screen with FHD 1920 x 1080p resolution. There’s a diamond cut 2.5D glass on top to improve the looks. The company has particularly focused on the quality of workmanship. The Mate 8 comes with an all metal body as we saw in the earlier leaked renders. What’s more, the company has kept the bezels to a minimum, measuring just 2.7mm on the sides.

Coming to the camera department, you get the latest Sony IMX298 16MP camera sensor at the back with dual LED flash. This is a larger sensor as compared to the one found on the Mate 7 as well as iPhone 6S. It also features a brand new ISP  and features such as intelligent scene recognition and slo-motion video capture at 120 fps. Up front, you get an 8MP shooter with special beauty algorithms for better selfies.

As for battery, Huawei has smartly incorporated a 4000mAh capacity high-density battery inside, which should be able to power the device for a day long. In fact, according to company’s official figures, the phone should last for about 2.36 days on average usage and 1.6 days of heavy usage.

The phone also features the fast fingerprint sensor at the back like the Mate 7. Other notable specs include VoLTE, dual SIM dual standby with 4G support and NFC.

Finally, for software, you will get the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow version with Huawei’s own Emotion UI on top. There are many software specific features such as Knuckle Touch 2.0, Split Screen multi-tasking, smart SMS etc.

Unfortunately, the company has not revealed the exact date of availability or even the pricing. For that we will have to wait until next year, as Huawei will showcase it at CES 2016.

So, what do you think about the Huawei Mate 8? Impressed?

Lenovo ZUK Z1 vs OnePlus 2 Camera Comparison

Lenovo’s sub-brand ZUK has a one interesting device – the Z1. It has decent specs and performance for the price but you may be curious about its camera. Thus, I decided to put it against the slightly more expensive OnePlus 2, which is capable of capturing some impressive looking images.

Huawei Mate 8 Summary: Specs, Price, Release & Features

Despite releasing a brand new flagship in the Huawei Mate family this September, namely, the Huawei Mate S, the company is all set to announce another device in the lineup, the much more powerful Huawei Mate 8. We have been hearing rumors about this particular device for the past few months, but finally we will be meeting this beast tomorrow, at the company’s official event in China.

mate 8 invite 02

Since there’s just one day for the official release, we decided to summarize the information about the Mate 8 that we know till now. We don’t expect much to change in a day, so most of the details mentioned here should be confirmed by the company tomorrow.

HUAWEI MATE 8 DESIGN

Huawei Mate 7’s design got a BIG YES from customers for its premium all metal design and refined looks. No wonder the company decided to build upon the same design on the Mate S and also the upcoming Mate 8. In the past few weeks, we have seen plenty of leaked pictures of the device, enough to get us an idea about how the device will look.

s_1d1ecda2c62247648ec26d305aff9f36

The pictures reveal that the Huawei Mate 8 will continue with the all metal build as the Mate S. In fact, the company has decided to stick with the basic design as the Mate S on the new flagship. This includes sleek body, gently curved corners and smooth metal back. However, there are a few differences that we can expected on the Mate 8. First of all, the camera sensor is now round instead of square. The company has also made the fingerprint sensor at the back circular. You also get the Huawei logo at the back near the bottom. The front remains more or less like the Mate S, with the Huawei branding on the bezel below the display.

The most interesting part of the design is going to be its display. From the leaked images that we have seen lately, the bezels are going to be super thin. This along with the sleek metal body makes the phone looks super premium.

Thanks to the Huawei Mate 8 advertisements leaked today, the design of the phone is confirmed.

HUAWEI MATE 8 SPECS

Its confirmed that the Huawei Mate 8 will come with the powerful Kirin 950 chipset. The chip is one of the first commercially available SoCs to use the new ARM Cortex A72 Cores and this will definitely be evident in the phone’s powerful performance.

huawei-mate8-specs-leaked-01

There are expected to be at least two variants of the device, one with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage and the other with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage. According to a clue inside the invite, there probably won’t be a 16GB storage variant. However, there have been rumors about a third variant with an even larger 128GB storage variant.

As for the display, a recent benchmark listing revealed that the phone will continue to use the same 6-inch display as the Mate 7 with FHD 1080p resolution. However, there have been rumors about three different screen sizes, a smaller variant featuring a 5.7-inch screen and a larger variant with 6.2-inch screen and QHD resolution. But we are not quite sure of that at the moment. We still don’t know which all versions will use the company’s Force Touch feature.

As for the camera, expect a 16MP sensor at the back with dual LED flash and a 8MP shooter up front. The battery is expected to be at least 4000mAh to power these high-end specs. Like we saw in the images above, the phone will come with a fingerprint sensor at the back. Mate 7’s fingerprint was considered as the best of its time, so we expect an accurate sensor behind the Mate 8 flagship as well. Finally, for software, you can expect none other than the Android 6.0 Marshmallow based version of Huawei’s new EMUI (Emotion UI) version.

HUAWEI MATE 8 BENCHMARK

Huawei Mate 8 Antutu benchmark specs

Luckily, even before the release, we have some benchmark figures of the device. The Mate 8 was recently spotted on AnTuTu benchmark revealing the true performance of the Kirin 950 under the hood.

Huawei Mate 8 AnTuTu benchmark score

On AnTuTu, the Mate 8 flagship scored an impressive 79,131 points which is even higher than the Exynos 7420 powered Meizu Pro 5. With such specs, we are sure that you won’t be disappointed with its overall performance.

HUAWEI MATE 8 PRICE

Huawei has never been the cheap and affordable smartphone maker like Xiaomi or Meizu. Instead, the company has always set its eyes up on top, alongside Samsung and Apple. So, don’t expect the pricing of the Mate 8 to be cheap. In fact, according to a report from China, the manufacturing cost of the device could go well above $266, which is higher than iPhone 6S. So, the final price could be a quite high.

According to the recent rumors, you can expect the pricing above 3500 Yuan. To be precise, expect the 3GB RAM + 32GB storage version to retail at 3499 Yuan (around $550) and the 4GB + 64GB version at 3899 Yuan ($610). If there’s a QHD display + 128GB storage variant, the price would be even higher.

HUAWEI MATE 8 RELEASE

Well, this one we know for sure. The Mate 8 flagship will be announced at the tomorrow’s event. Expect the phone to hit the stores a couple of weeks after that.

Huawei Mate 8 launch

So, this was all we know about the Mate 8. Its turning out to be quite a powerful flagship. Expect more details at tomorrow’s launch event.

Meanwhile, let me know what you feel about the device. Do you think these specs justify a price tag of $550 and above? Would you consider buying one in the coming months?

Xiaomi Working On A Helio X20 Powered Redmi Device?

Its been just a day since Xiaomi announced a brand new Redmi Note 3 smartphone. However, rumors about a new model have already started to come in. Well, we don’t exactly know whether it will be a Redmi device for sure, but according to the latest information, Xiaomi is preparing a Mediatek Helio X20 deca-core chip powered smartphone. Since, its not going to be Xiaomi Mi 5 flagship, we guess it could be a Redmi device.

mediatek-heliox20-01

The source reveals that although Xiaomi is working on a Helio X20 powered device, the pricing is still a big mystery. This is because, the Helio X20 chip alone costs $30 and plus with the memory costing around7 $20, the total goes up to $50 for just these two components. Since, till now, Xiaomi has aggressively price its devices, like the yesterday’s Redmi Note 3 which costs just $140, it would be interesting to see how low the company can go with a this deca-core chip.

It is said that the Helio X20 device won’t be a flagship, which is kind of surprising given that its expected to perform at least at par with other flagship chips. So, we will have to wait and see which phone is upgraded with this new chip for a flagship like performance.

As for the release, expect to see the device only by first quarter of 2016, since Mediatek exec had hinted that the first batch of Helio X20 powered smartphones will debut by that time.

While it seems unlikely that a budget Redmi smartphone could feature such a powerful chip, we have to understand that a few months back, we thought the same with MT6795. But Xiaomi surprised us all with Redmi Note 2 featuring this new chip and yet being priced under $130. So, we can’t really rule out a Helio X20 powered Redmi device next year.

However, this is the first time we are hearing about such a Redmi device. If the phone is real, we are sure to get more details pretty soon. So, stay tuned.

Kinkoo® 40Watt 6-Port High Speed USB Charger Review: UNBOXING

IMG_5122 IMG_5126
The device comes in a rather nice packaging for the USB hub. Everything’s packed neatly and the contents include the USB hub itself, instruction manuals and the power cable.

Kinkoo® 40Watt 6-Port High Speed USB Charger Review: DESIGN and FEATURES

IMG_5131
Basically, what Kinkoo charger offers are 6 USB ports that have the combined power output of 8A or maximum 2.4A of output per port. That means that all your USB powered devices will charge very fast as the HUB is able to detect the max. charging speed of the device.
Each port has a recommended device for the best charging speeds but basically you can use any port for any device. A nice blue LED light indicates when the USB hub is powered on.
IMG_5136
On the back side we have a power input port.
IMG_5134
As far as overall build quality it is made of glossy plastic and it does not scream premium but does not look of feel cheap either.
IMG_5138
My biggest complaint is that there is no silicone pad on the bottom of the charger, which makes it slippery on any surface you put it on.

Kinkoo® 40Watt 6-Port High Speed USB Charger Review: CONCLUSIONS

All in all, the Kinkoo 40 Watt 6-Port high speed USB charger is nothing we haven’t seen before but it serves its purpose very well.
IMG_5140
My test results suggest that each USB port is capable of delivering fast charging speeds and so far I didn’t have any issues with it.
The glossy plastic construction looks okay but it attracts fingerprints and smudges easily. Well, at least it is not that visible on the white surface.
IMG_5128
Another shortcoming is that there is no silicone pad on the bottom and the lack of it makes the USB charger slide on the table, especially with lots of cables attached to it.
All in all, the Kinkoo charger is a great product for $25 price tag, which works great but you have to consider a few flaws.

Elephone Vowney with 2K Display for sale now at just $299.99

The Elephone  Vowney with 2K Display, Mediatek Helio X10 octa-core processor, 4gb Ram and 21MP camera is currently available to purchase as part of the the Elephone MEvent  for just $299.

The Elephone Vowney Lite is also available in the event for just $239.99 the main deifferences in the two varients are the screen and the amount of ram.

The Vowney Lite comes with a FHD Display, Mediatek Helio X10 octa-core processor, 3gb Ram and  21MP camera.

You can currently order the Vowney with 2K Display in gold and the Vowney Lite in grey, the white variants are currently not available to order.

We are yet to receive a firm release date for both handsets, but hopefully both the official shipping dates for the Vowney with 2k display and the Vowney Light will be before Christmas.

We have advised that software for both handsets is still currently under going debugging and testing, hopefully the fact that Elephone appear to be spending additional time on the phones software, should help to ensure that both handsets will come with finalised software, that does not require bug fixes and stress on the part of the purchaser.

It would be great to see these long awaited handsets finally released by Elephone, with great hardware and firmware that together will asserts their position as makers of great Phones that have the software to back up the hardware, if they can get both of these right with the release of the Vowney handsets, it will make them  a real contender in a crowded handset market this December.

You can check out the hands on video, please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and let me know which one you will choose? will it be the 2K, 4gb ram version that floats your boat? or perhaps the FHD 3gb variant, or maybe your waiting on the Elephone P9000?

If you have the Xiaomi YI camera, you know that it is a great cheap action camera but it has a few flaws – a poor battery life, the lack of  display and it ships without any accessories.

Thanks to Gearbest for sending Xiaomi YI camera power user accessories pack for a review.

Xiaomi YI Camera Power User Accessories Pack Review: UNBOXING

This power user accessories pack costs just below $40 and it is a pretty good bang for your buck considering the overall package you are getting.
IMG_5258 IMG_5260
What you are getting in the packaging includes an external display, a generous 2400mAh external battery, a waterproof casing, some mounting brackets and the micro USB cable.

Xiaomi YI Camera Power User Accessories Pack Review:  CONTENTS and FEATURES

IMG_5268 IMG_5283
There are lots of action cameras that do not have a display and thus you cannot properly frame the shot. The external display is here to solve the issue and it is very easy to use. All you have to do is just connect it to the back of the camera but before you do that make sure to upgrade the camera’s firmware to the latest version and select the AV output in the YI Camera app.
IMG_5284
Once you’ve done that, you are good to go and the display works very well and there is no delay whatsover. Also, there is the display power on/off button to save the battery. My only complaint would be that the display could have a bit higher resolution but it is used only to frame a shot anyway.
Another cool accessory is a generous 2400mAh external battery. If you want to use it, you have to remove the original battery first and install the external one with a simple push.
The original power pack has the capacity of just 1010mAh and thus we have more than twice as much juice in this external battery. With the original battery, I was able to achieve around 1:40h of continuous 1080p video shooting and with this one the battery lasted for around 3,5 hours under the exact same conditions. Of course, you will be able to achieve that if you don’t mind the extra bulk this power bank gives.
IMG_5287
Next up is the waterproof case and it easily fits the Xiaomi YI camera. However, if you want to put the camera with either the LCD display or the external battery, you have to replace the door of the waterproof case but the good thing is that it is very easy to do it.
Mounting the camera inside the waterproof case is easy. The case lock is made of plastic but it does look like it’s going to break any time soon.
The last items that are included are a few mounting brackets and they are pretty much self-explanatory.

Xiaomi YI Camera Power User Accessories Pack Review: CONCLUSIONS

IMG_5321
So there you have it, the power user accessories pack for the Xioami YI camera. For under $40 you are getting two essential upgrades – the display and a generous external battery. They are both easy to install and remove it and so far everything works very well.
IMG_5305
Also, there is another essential piece – the waterproof housing, which allows you to use the camera underwater. You can do it either without any accessories attached to the camera or with the LCD display,  or with the external battery. I’ve tested it several times underwater already and I have no complaints about it.
All in all, this accessory pack is an ideal upgrade to your Xiaomi YI camera and since everything has worked fine during my testing time, I believe it is worth the price of $40.
