Samsung switching to Mediatek?

With the Release of Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, Samsung breaks the long partnership with Qualcomm processor, This is going to make a loss of 48 million orders. Some say because of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 compared to Exynos 7420, this is a reasonable decision as Exynos 7420 is much more powerful than the Snapdragon 810. However, Foreign media broke the news that, Samsung is working with MTK (MediaTek) and negotiations are going on. It will be replacing Qualcomm, If Mediatek comes to Samsung, then it means that Samsung will likely become less high-end product company. This deal will defiantly be a good step by them as it will increase price to performance ration but then you will not get features like Fast Charging and Kernel Sources. If Samsung takes this step, then we can see high end phones at a much lesser price. Samsung has made a brand value and if they start selling phones at a much lesser price, they will defiantly have a good come-back.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge priced in China

On March 1st, Samsung announced its flagship smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge with much fan fare at MWC 2015. The company had later announced that both the devices will be available globally. Now, it looks like, we have just spotted the pricing of the two handsets, which should be released in China soon.

galaxy s6 china price

The device was just listed on JingDong (JD.com). The Samsung Galaxy S6 was priced at 5288 Yuan while the S6 Edge was much more costlier being priced at 5888 Yuan. Both the models have 32GB internal storage and support dual 4G networks.

Both the models are powered by the super fast yet power efficient Exynos 7420 processor. The processor is built on a 14nm process which makes it more advanced than any other mobile SoC currently available in the market. Even Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 810 processor is built using a 20nm process. Other features are also top of the line. Both the models feature a 5.1-inch display with QHD resolution, however the Galaxy S6 edge has a special dual edge curved display which makes it a very unique offering. This is main reason why the phone is priced so much higher than the regular Galaxy S6.

The retail price is slightly on the higher side as compared to other international markets, so it will be interesting to see how these two Samsung flagships compete with popular phones in China like the Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Huawei 13000mAh power bank spotted [Pictures]

Since the arrival of the Xiaomi power bank, things have changed a lot in the accessories industry. Companies have realized that accessories also form an important part of their product ecosystem, which is why we are seeing many new companies focusing on accessories for their famous products.

huawei powerbank

Today, we came across the upcoming Huawei powerbank (AP007). From the appearance point of view, the leaked powerbank looks almost the same as the Xiaomi power bank. This particular mobile power comes with a 13,000mAh capacity battery which can input and output 5V 2A, which is quite the standard for Huawei products.

The new Huawei 13000mAh power bank comes with two USB ports, which has the same power output. Besides the two ports lies the MicroUSB, which is used for recharging the power bank. On the right lies four indicators which show the amount of charge left in the battery pack. Finally, at the extreme right, there’s the power button.

huawei powerbank 3

The best thing about this powerbank is its price tag. It is said that the device will be available for sale for a retail price of 168 Yuan which comes to $26.5. That’s an amazing price for a large 13,000mAh power bank.

Unfortunately, the source didn’t reveal the thickness or internal battery specs of the device, but if Huawei is indeed planning to launch a new powerbank, it could be around the same time as the company unveils it new flagship device, the Huawei P8.

Huawei or Meizu, who will snipe the rocketing Xiaomi Smartphone Trend in 2015?

3

It is an undoubted fact that China smartphone market expanded rapidly and dramatically in recent years. China smartphone brands like Xiaomi, Huawei and Lenovo competed in the international market with their superior cost performance, and also become more and more popular globally. According to Moore’s law, the fierce competition among the China smartphone brands will be much tougher as the time goes by, which resembles the PC competition a few years ago.

In January, 2015, Yu Chendong (CEO of Huawei) and Lei Jun(CEO of Xiaomi) expressed their prediction on the China smartphone market in 2015, they believe that the competition among China smartphone market will be the most fierce one in all ages. As the pioneers in the industry, Yu and Lei show their intention in making industry reshuffle in this year. The strong will be much stronger while the weak will die out, this kind of extreme situation will be the view picture for the following 3 year of China smartphone market.

The Rocketing Trend of Xiaomi

Xiaomi becomes the highest valued entrepreneurial style company in the world by its extremely peerless performance and word-of-mouth marketing strategy, it also takes more than half of the market share in China smartphone industry undoubtedly. Its pricing strategy is the key to make the whole business growing rapidly and defeat the traditional. As for traditional brands, they set a relatively high price at first, and the price will goes down as the time goes. Xiaomi is quite different from that, it sets the price which will make ends meet half a year later, as long as the sales could be controlled. Of course, this kind of Futures-Pricing pattern is the only part what will be denounced. If consumers want to buy Xiaomi, they have to either buy them from Secondary Market with a higher price, or rush to get the F code from the official website.

In the past year, the value of Xiaomi surges to 45 billion US dollars form 10 billion, the speed is quite astonishing. Lei made it through, and all he has done is captured by the media. From Functional Age to Smart Age, there are only three brands shining through, they are Apple, Samsung and Xiaomi.

The difference lies in that Apple use its iOS to attract a number of App developers to make money, while MIUI do it by providing integrated services.

As Xiaomi has the double advantages —— huge sales volume and favorable supply chain—— the two incomparable conditions endow Xiaomi potential to be the tycoon in China Smartphone market.

In 2014, the sales volume of Xiaomi is 61.12 million, increasing 227% than that of 2013, which did better than Huawei, Lenovo and LG in the Q3 of 2014, ranks the third on the global smart phone list, just following Apple and Samsung.

As the surging trend will slow down in 2015 for smartphone industry, if Xiaomi intend to maintain its performance in 2014, it will, on one hand grab the market share in low-and-middle-end market, on the other hand spare no effort to competing with international brands like Samsung, Sony, HTC and LG to get more market share in high-end market. The launch of Xiaomi Note will be the start to maintain the high-end market. It is likely that common version and flagship version will be launched into market at the same time with different prices to maintain the market shares in different levels.

Revolutionary price battle which is around the corner will make the industry reshuffle completely in 2015.

How wolf-spirit-style Huawei can snipe Xiaomi?

Frankly speaking, Huawei is the only competitor of Xiaomi in China smartphone market, no matter its brand fame and the sales volume. This year, the biggest revolution for Huawei is that HONOR (the former sub-brand) will be merged into it. And HONOR is the one Huawei builds up with the utmost attention to compete with Xiaomi, the one which is neglected in the past.

HONOR is a brand penetrated with the wolf spirit of Huawei, keep on to Xiaomi in every aspect like price and marketing etc. As HONOR process too slow to affect Xiaomi, Huawei decided to merge it, focus on it, and take it as the trump card to defeat Xiaomi.

In terms of hardware, Huawei has the ability to compete with Xiaomi. As it has a greater ability on Independent R&D, Huawei’s Hisilicon Chip has its advantage in low-and-middle-end market for its performance, however, the chip is also a disadvantage as it is mono-used by Huiwei, and less competitive than MTK chip in cost and performance in China smartphone market.

As for software, Huiwei lags behind Xiaomi much more. Xiaomi’s MIUI ecosphere is much more sustainable Huawei’s EMUI ecosphere. Last year, the user number of MIUI is beyond 100 million. Lei uses MIUI to make money by investment and shares while providing service, which is a new pattern that attracts more users to get involved.

How the old enemy Meizu make the counter attack to Xiaomi?

Meizu made a remarkable progress in 2014 in terms of its sales volume. Though its Flyme is as user-friendly as MIUI of Xiaomi, the user number is always not enough, and this situation will dramatically affect its market position.

Alibaba joined hands with Meizu, investing into Flyme system months ago. It will help Meizu build the content of the system, but for the user numbers, Meizu should rely on itself.

In Strategic plan, Meizu should develop more versions like MX4 to boost the user number of Flyme system, only in this way will it compete with Xiaomi in sales volume in 2015. However, the time is limited as the slowing-down trend of phone market appears.

Huawei has a great amount of sales volume but without a preferable system, while Meizu has a vital system but without enough user number. Maybe Huawei combines with Meizu can make a complete new Xiaomi.

Next generation Redmi model to have ultra-slim bezels

Lei Jun recently posted on Weibo some information about the next generation redmi model. According to him, the new Redmi model will feature the same display size as the current version but will have very slim bezels. This will make sure that the device is smaller than the current generation and even easier to operate.

He further said that there are some users who would have liked a smaller sized Redmi device. However, if the device is too small, then it will affect the battery capacity on the phone. As a result, the company is trying to improve the screen to body ratio on the new model to avoid this problem.

So, a 4.7-inch display with ultra-narrow bezels which be a balanced phone. It will be small enough for you to operate with one hand, yet big enough for a decent battery and display. The price is expected to be the same as the current model,  i.e. 699 Yuan.

Unlike usual leaks, the entire phone was not revealed in the pictures, instead a few areas of the device was highlighted. First of all, the phone does have the front facing speakers, above the display. The design is expected to be more or less like HTC One M9, but it is said that like the E8, the company will use a plastic (polycarbonate?) material for its body instead of metal.

16-15030GJ235

The rear camera is said to be a 20MP sensor and the front camera, a 4MP ultrapixel sensor. The camera does not blend well with the design as it protrudes from the back. Also, we can only see a single LED flash at the back.

16-15030GJ235-50

The leakster also says that this will be the only HTC One E9 version that will support TD-LTE networks. Finally, it is said that the phone will retail for an official price tag of 2999 Yuan which comes to around $478.

  • Mi Band
  • Mi Router

  • Redmi 2
  • Mi Note Pro
  • Mi Smart Home

It has a 4.7″ Screen similar to Redmi 1S. If Xiaomi made the Redmi 2 price in the range of Rs. 7000 (120$), then they may have a great come back after Mi4 16GB which couldn’t impress the Indian market. Redmi 2 would be competing with phones like Moto E 2015 and Lenovo A6000. All three phones have almost the same specs with same price. PIPO C2 Is Released – Crazy Cheap ($35) Smartwatch

It seems that more and more manufacturers, including those in China are focused on producing wearable devices. We saw many smartwatches and other wearables by major manufacturers. It seems that those ones, based in China are also stepping up into the game.

1-15030610355KG

The manufacturer, which is not widely known outside of China – PIPO has an incredibly cheap (199 Yuan or around $35) wearable device in its pipeline.

The functions of the PIPO C2 are said to include the unique design, ability to separate the body from the strap and some more features, which are yet to be disclosed.

1-150306103612262

If you take a closer look at the device, it may not differ from a regular watch so much as it spots some classic elements of design.

The smart watch has the volume, functional keys and the Micro USB charging port. Also, the device can be used to call directly to other people as it has an embedded mic. It is not that the smart watch has a SIM card slot, but it uses a Bluetooth connectivity to do that via your phone. Since you can remove the smart watch form the bracelet, you can use it as a mini phone to call other people. That seems to be quite an interesting idea.

What is more, the PIPO C2 has basic features that most of the smart watches have nowadays. That include pedometer, display the time and date. However, the device is not being run by Android OS, so you may not be able to install the apps you may be using every day. Still, we are pretty sure that the PIPO has some replacement apps to use.

1-150306103625c7

The most attractive point of the PIPO C2 smart watch is, of course, the price. For just $35 you can get a great looking device, which also has functions you would expect from the smart band and smart watch.

iPhone 6s will be powered by A9 processor, manufacturing starts in June

Apple released their flagship smartphones just last September and we would need to wait for about half a year to see what new the Cupertino based company has under cover. However, the rumour mill usually starts very early and we have something that tells a bit about the iPhone 6s.

Screenshot 2015-03-06 11.16.15Screenshot 2015-03-06 11.17.05Just recently, we have heard some news that the upcoming flagship device from Apple will be powered by A9 processor and running iOS 9 system. Also, it is said to be supporting “pressure touch” technology, which is not yet detailed.

Also, we have some news about the alleged production. The IHS Technology China research director Wang Kevin expressed his thoughts by saying that iPhone 6S will start mass production in June this year. Moreover, Apple’s shipments will more than 230 million units.

It seems that the production start will be very early as Apple needs to manufacture a lot of units. Making 230 million devices can be a challenge to any manufacturer, so starting the production early to make sure everything is all right is logical.

ZTE Nubia Z9 listed on JD.com?

Two months back, we saw some pictures of the upcoming ZTE Nubia Z9 flagship smartphone. Now, the same phone was listed on JingDong.com for a brief period.

zte nubia z9

While the company is yet to officially announce the device, it hints at a possible release pretty soon. As for the tech specs, the phone is expected to feature high end specs. So, it is said that the new Z9 will come with a Snapdragon 810 processor with 4GB RAM. There will be a large camera sensor at the back, which reportedly will be very powerful.

Since, it was listed on JD, we can expect more information about the device in the coming days. Meanwhile, you can check out the earlier leaked image of the ZTE Nubia Z9 from down below.

Blackview shows off its products at MWC 2015

blackview MWC 2015

Blackview is a HongKong based smartphone manufacturer who has released a number of good looking phones in the past few years. The company has slowly expanded into international territories too and is famous for its beautifully designed smartphones.

One of the most popular Blackview products is the Blackview Ultra which takes its design inspiration from Apple’s iPhone 6. In fact, the company was present at MWC 2015 this year to show off its products at the event. Blackview was present at Booth Congress Square #7D81 at MWC in Barcelona, Spain this year. The company had specifically prepared a demonstration center to display its products at the booth.

Meizu MX4 Pro gets an official price cut, listed on Oppomart for just $379

Meizu MX4 Pro was announced back in November last year. It builds upon the positives of the MX4, bringing in a larger display with better resolution and a fingerprint sensor too.

Naturally, with its high end specs, the phone was priced well above $500 officially. However, like we reported recently, at third party retailers, the phone was selling at a much lower price, around $450. Now, it looks like the company has decided to cut down its flagship’s price, officially.

Meizu MX4 Pro will be available to purchase from the company’s official store for 2199 / 2399 and 2799 Yuan for 16GB / 32GB and 64GB respectively. This is a great price for a device with such high end specifications and will definitely boost the sales of the phone to a great extent. The exact reason of the price cut is not yet known, but it could be to directly compete with the 2299 Yuan Xiaomi Mi Note.

Naturally, seeing the price cut, the third party sellers too have decided to bring down the price of the device. According to our research, we have found the Meizu MX4 Pro on Oppomart for just $379.

mx3ED6E

Oppomart usually stocks up high end Chinese products and the 16GB version in three different colors namely, gray, silver and gold are now available for $379 on the retailer’s website. If you are looking for the 32GB variant, you can get that too in the above mentioned three colors for an additional $50.

At present, the Meizu MX4 Pro looks like a great buy. The powerful Exynos 5430 processor, 3GB RAM, 5.5-inch 2K display, 20.7MP Sony rear camera and the fingerprint sensor makes it one of the best value for money devices in the market right now.

So, would you prefer the new MX4 Pro at the discounted price or will you wait for the Xiaomi Mi Note to hit retailers?

Sony may release MT6752 powered smartphones this year

Although Mediatek has been gaining ground recently in the smartphone chip manufacturing industry, well established companies still prefer the chips from Qualcomm for their devices.

Things have changed a bit in the past few months, since a number of new OEMs have decided to go with Mediatek’s low cost yet powerful chips and Sony has been one of them. We recently saw the Sony Xperia E4G, an affordable entry level model running the new Mediatek 64-bit chip. Looks like this will mark a new partnership with Mediatek for its upcoming smartphones.

The first Sony phone to run on a Mediatek SoC was the Xperia C S39h model. However, after that, for some reason, the company decided to stick with Qualcomm for its smartphones. Now, a new report states that after Xperia E4, the Japanese smartphone maker may have many more devices in partnership with Mediatek this year.

The Xperia E4 sports the old MT6582 quad-core SoC. However, in the updated Xperia E4G model, a Mediatek MT6732 64-bit quad-core SoC will be present which clearly shows the company’s willingness to try out other Mediatek chipsets.

Now, Taiwan media reports that the company is in talks to release new smartphone based on Mediatek’s powerful MT6752 octa-core 64-bit chipset. It is said that this powerful chipset will give the company’s products price advantage as compared to other competitors. The same report states that it may even go with the chipmaker’s high-end lineup like MT6795 for its new products.

However, please note that Sony is yet to confirm any additional Mediatek powered phones for 2015 and hence, we cannot be sure of anything unless the company officially confirms the news.
