Alldocube has announced the Mini 2 Android tablet. The new Alldocube Android tablet is equipped with an 8.4-inch screen and comes with a full-featured configuration. The tablet runs on Android 14 operating system and uses UFS storage.

The Alldocube Cube Mini 2 has a 5MP front camera and a 13MP rear camera. The screen resolution of the tablet is 1200 x 1920 pixels and it’s running on Android `14 out of the box is a major advantage of the model. As per the specs also available for the Cube Mini 2, it will be equipped with the RK3588 chip. It is noted that the RK3588 chip does not support UFS storage, hence it is logically projected that the product itself may be available in two versions.

The RK3588 chip was released by Rockchip in 2022 and integrates the Mali-G610 MC4. The chip is based on the 8nm process and has a quad-core Cortex A76 + quad-core Cortex-A55 architecture. It also offers a rich display interface and multi-screen display. It has a maximum main frequency of 2.4GHz and supports HDMI and DP connections, as well as other rich high-speed interfaces. The RK335888 chip is compatible with both Android and Linux OS.

The UFS storage has a sequential read speed of 1450MB/s, a write speed of 928.7MB/s, and random read and write speeds of 452MB/s and 347MB/s respectively. The screen of the model is improved compared to its previous iteration. The OUKITEL OT5S, as it is called, is a basic tablet that comes with the Widevine L1 certification and support for mobile communications. The new OUKITEL Android tablet is designed for users who are interested in browsing or viewing media and not for intensive tasks.

Features

The OUKITEL OT5S Android tablet has a 12-inch display with a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels. It can be used for streaming content from platforms like Disney+ and Prime Video, thanks to its Widevine L1 certification. The output from such streaming services will be high quality, according to the specification. The tablet is protected from scratches and damage by its Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The OT5S tablet is powered by the Unisoc Tiger T606 processor with a RAM capacity of 8GB and 256GB of storage. The RAM is expandable via a swap file and it runs on Android 14. The tablet is open to the latest updates on the operating system although its quality may be under par when compared with flagship offerings in the segment. The Oukitel OT5S tablet has four built-in speakers that can provide good audio playback. The main camera has a resolution of 16MP which is okay for basic images and videos.

The Android tablet weighs 560g and is about 7.5mm thick. It has an 8,250mAh battery that can last up to 10 hours when playing media. Otherwise, the battery can carry the tablet for up to 24 hours on a single charge. It is possible to use the tablet with a keyboard and it also supports a pen input. The pressure level specification for the pen input is however not provided. The tablet also supports 4G mobile network connectivity to two mobile networks.

The price of the OT5S Android tablet is $220 although the model is not available to buy currently, according to the company.

Doogee has unveiled a new tablet with the model name T30S and packing some decent features. The T30S comes in a compact design and supports high-resolution playback of media from streaming platforms. The new T30S is yet another Android tablet added to the fast-expanding collection of tablets from Doogee. It is a trimmed-down version of the T30 Ultra. The company is already accepting pre-orders for the slate.

The new Doogee T30S has an 11-inch display with 2.4K resolution. Its high-resolution display comes in handy when playing copyrighted content from streaming platforms. The T30S has the Widevine L1 certification and is capable of playing full-quality videos from Amazon Prime, Netflix, and other streaming providers. The tablet is powered by a Spreadtrum T606 chipset with eight computing cores and speeds up to 1.6GHz. While the physical RAM of the T30S is 6GB Doogee advertises that this is expandable virtually to 16GB. The tablet has an internal storage capacity of 256GB which is also expandable via a memory card.

Doogee is known for its array of durable smartphones and the T30S shares in that tradition. It has a 13MP main camera and an 8MP front camera. There tablet is equipped with four speakers and a headset can also be connected via the audio jack on the tablet. The T30S runs on Android 13 out of the box but it is unclear the number of OS upgrades available for the tablet. The T30S is 7.6 mm thick.

The Doogee T30S Android tablet is priced at $299.99 and can be purchased directly from Doogee. The new Doogee tablet is expected to be subsequently available from e-commerce platforms like Amazon. There are variations in shipping costs and delivery times for the model depending on the region.

Google Warns Users About Apps That Don’t Work Well on Large Screens

Even though Android smartphone users don’t generally face significant issues running applications despite the diversity of models and manufacturers, things change when it comes to tablets and new technologies like foldable phones. Many apps weren’t designed to work well on large screens, leading to a subpar user experience. For instance, an app might fail to utilize the extra screen space or the controls might be too small to use comfortably. This could make it hard for people to use the app, or even stop them from using it at all. Thankfully, all these issues are becoming less of a problem.

In simple terms, Google is saying, “If you make your app great for big screens, we’ll make it easier for people to find your app in our Play Store.” Apps that follow Google’s guidelines for big screens will now show up higher in search results. Starting in August, apps that can adjust their size, fill the whole screen, and work well in both upright and sideways views will be more visible.

Google is also planning to show pictures of what the app looks like on different devices. This way, if you’re considering downloading an app, you’ll know what it’s going to look like on your tablet or foldable phone. The Play Store will also warn you if an app doesn’t work well on big screens. At first, it will warn about apps that crash or don’t run well. But the company is also looking at other ways to let users know if an app isn’t designed well for big screens.

This is great news for people who use devices like the Pixel Fold or recently introduced Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. By making these changes, Google is showing that they care about making sure all apps work well on all devices and that they support new technologies.

According to a recent rumor, Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy S23 FE in August this year, alongside some of the company’s top-of-the-line foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5.

This new information comes after Samsung’s decision to skip over the Galaxy S22 FE, which has left many fans eagerly awaiting the Galaxy S23 FE’s release. The upcoming “cheap” premium phone is expected to be a hit with budget-conscious consumers, offering high-end features at an affordable price.

But that’s not all that Samsung has in store for its fans this year. Leaked information suggests that the Galaxy Tab S8 FE may also be making an appearance at the August event.

The highly anticipated Galaxy Tab S9 series is also rumored to be launched at the same Unpacked event. While it’s unusual for Samsung to debut two major tablet releases at the same event, it seems plausible that the Tab S8 FE could be launched alongside the Galaxy S23 FE and foldable devices.

Previously a Korean report also claimed that Galaxy Tab S8 FE could be launched in August or September. If the rumors are true, the Galaxy Tab S8 FE could be a successor to the Tab S7 FE, which was released in May 2021. The tablet is said to have a MediaTek chipset, an LCD display, and Stylus support and its model number is rumored to be “SM-X506B.” While some may be skeptical about the veracity of these leaks, Samsung has a history of surprising its fans with unexpected announcements at its Unpacked events.

During the Google I/O conference, the company had announced a number of new products, which included a new smartphone, a smartwatch, and even teased future gadgets as well. But along with hardware release, the brand also officially unveiled Android 13 OS for tablets.

In the event, the Search engine giant showcased the latest operating system that it claimed will arrive with improved multitasking features and some overhauls to the UI. One of the most notable change in the latest software, is the addition of a Taskbar in the UI. Android 13 on tablets will now have a taskbar and an update notification share that will make use of a tablet’s larger screen real estate. Apart from this, Google has also placed a focus on improving the multitasking experience as a whole.

With mobile devices becoming increasingly more powerful each year, it arrives as no surprise that the line between a tablet and a notebook is quickly blurring. With the addition of a taskbar, the device itself resembles Chrome OS in a manner, and helps users quick launch apps that they require on a daily basis. Furthermore, Android 13 will also feature the iPad like drag and drop feature, which lets users take an image from their gallery and simply drag and drop it on a messaging app when used in a split screen mode.

This split screen interface is even reflected in the notification tray that now drops down to two halves. One contains all the necessary quick action settings while the other houses all of the notifications. Another interesting feature showcased was the “swipe up to overview,” which allows you to quickly check the apps that are running on the background. Notably, Google also announced that it will be optimizing and updating more than 20 of its apps to better work with Android 13 powered tablets.

The COVID-19 global pandemic brought back the Android tablets from the dead. But it is only China where the market for tablets is still growing, while the demand in other regions has started slowing down. A new report by IDC sheds more information on this matter.

According to a report by IDC, the China Tablet PC Market shipped around 7.65 million units. The market registered a 10.6% YoY growth. In fact, the country witnessed the highest number of shipments in a single quarter in the last 7 years. It was also the only country in the world to maintain double-digit YoY growth in Q3 2021.

Approximately 6.32 million units of shipments came from the consumer market as opposed to only 1.31 million units from the commercial market. The former saw a 19.7% YoY increase in shipments, whereas the latter declined by 19.1% YoY.

Unlike other regions, China still has a strong demand for tablets. That’s because this product category has become a key requirement for education users in the country for self-learning, following the government’s new “double reduction” policy.

Therefore, the shipments of consumer tablets in the August-September school season were even more than in 618 sales earlier this year. On the other hand, the commercial tablet shipments declined as the government procured units in large-scale for census projects in the same period last year.

Additionally, with the entrance/comeback of local Android tablet players, the competition has become intense. The market share of Android tablets increased from 59.4% to 62.3% in a year. Consumers also have a wide range of options in the ¥2000-¥3000 price segment.

But unfortunately, due to supply shortages and high demand, the price of tablets has increased in China. However, during the ‘Double Eleven’ sales, promotions brought down the average price of tablets to ¥2,580 from ¥3,082 last year.

IDC says that China Tablet PC Market shipments in 2021 will reach a new high since 2014. The firm also predicts further growth in the future.

Early last month, an HTC tablet was spotted on the Google Play Console. The device has now been officially unveiled in Russia as the HTC A100 and it packs mid-range specs at a price that falls under $300.

The HTC A100 has a 10.1-inch IPS LCD display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. The screen is housed in an aluminum chassis with rounded corners. There are bezels around the display, and while they are not humongous, they are not the slimmest. However, they do have the same thickness on all sides.

For its first tablet in years, HTC has gone with the UNISOC Tiger T618, the same chipset we have seen in phones such as ZTE’s Axon 20 4G and Blade V30 smartphones and the Alldocube iPlay 40 tablet. The 12nm processor has an 8-core CPU made up of two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 2.0GHz. It also has a Mali G52 MP2 GPU.

The processor is paired with 8GB DDR3 RAM and 128GB of storage. There is a MicroSD card slot that allows the user to add up to an extra 256GB of storage. The tablet also has support for dual SIMs via its hybrid SIM slot.

On the back of the HTC A100 are two cameras – a 13MP main camera and a 2MP secondary camera. It also has a 5MP front-facing camera for video calls. There are two speaker grilles at the bottom, and on the same side as the SIM tray and USB-C port lies an audio jack. The tablet packs a 7000mAh battery capacity, ships with a power brick in the box, and runs Android 11.

The HTC A100 is already available for purchase in Russia at a price of ₽19,990 which converts to about $273. At the moment, we do not know if the tablet will be announced in other regions.

The tablet market has picked up after a few years of declining sales, and now almost every manufacturer wants a piece of the pie including those that  never cared for the tablet space before.  UMIDIGI is one of such new players and it has teased the arrival of its very first tablet.

The Chinese manufacturer has announced that its first Android tablet is coming soon and it will launch as the UMIDIGI A11 Tab. The teasers give us an early look at the design and also provide some details of the device.

As seen in the image above, the UMIDIGI A11 Tab will have a pretty large display. While the size is unknown, our guess is that it is about 11-inches in size. What we do know is that the screen has a 2K resolution. It also has curved corners and is surrounded by moderately sized bezels of equal thickness. The tablet is shown to have its front-facing camera on the left side bezel if you were to hold the device in portrait mode.

The back of the tab appears to be made of metal and the antenna lines add a bit of detail to the overall appearance of the device. The corners are curved which should make it comfortable to hold for a long while. There is a single camera on the back and it sits in a small housing along with an LED flash. In landscape mode, the power button is on your right while the volume control buttons are at the top. While there are four grilles – two on each side – we can’t confirm the UMIDIGI A11 Tab has four speakers.

UMIDIGI is running a giveaway for the yet-to-be-announced tablet and the promotional poster reveals that the A11 Tab will have a detachable keyboard case. The keyboard is shown to have a touchpad unlike that of Xiaomi’s Mi Pad 5 series.

UMIDIGI is yet to announce a release date for the tablet. Once it does, we will be sure to inform you, but before then keep your eyes peeled for more details about the device.

Samsung has officially announced that it will launch the world’s first 5G tablet, the Galaxy Tab S6 in South Korea tomorrow. The company is marketing the tablet as an entertainment hub with support for the new-age 5G network and features such as AKG audio and Dolby Atmos quad-speakers.

The Galaxy Tab S6 5G will come with similar specs as the LTE version which includes a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display, and a 5.7mm thick body weighing 420 grams. The 5G tablet will be available in at least one Mountain Gray color along with an S-Pen. What’s interesting is that the official press renders of the Galaxy Tab S6 5G reveal a slightly different bottom design as compared to the LTE version. While the USB-C port is common, the speaker grill design is different on the 5G version. Check out the image down below to see the difference.

The Galaxy Tab S6 5G will be available in just one 128GB ROM variant in mountain gray color at launch. It will be priced at 999,000 won ($848).

When it comes to the display, we have a 10.1” 1080p LCD panel. It is a pretty good and sharp display with a bit colder looking colors. It is a good panel if you use the tablet in low light environment or indoors.

However, the screen is very reflective and it acts as a mirror almost all the time in better-lit environments (e.g. bright rooms). In addition, it has a poor sunlight legibility if you use it outdoors.

Keep in mind that removing the pre-installed screen protector may reduce the reflection but the display does not have any protective materials like Gorilla Glass.

Chuwi HiBook Review: DESIGN and FEATURES

The main selling point of this tablet is that it runs both Android 5.1 and full version of Windows 10 out of the box. Also, the tablet can be attached to the keyboard to increase productivity.

The HiBook sports an all-metal design, good build quality and it weighs 550g.

We have just 2MP selfie camera on the front, which is quite terrible as the images simply look bad.

Also, we have the LED light, which starts flashing when the device is charging.

We have only a home button, which works just fine in both Android and Windows.

On the top, there are the usual buttons, which are made out of metal and have a good tactile feedback.

On the left side, we have a bunch of ports that include a headset jack, a micro HDMI, micro USB, USB C port and the microSD card slot.

Also, we have stereo speakers on the left and right side of the tablet. The sound quality is kind of mediocre, however.

On the back side, there is a 5MP camera, which is pretty horrible as the front facing camera. Well, I hope you are not that guy who takes pictures with a tablet, anyway.

Overall, the tablet is well built and you simply can’t ask more. However, display is very reflective and the cameras are poor.

Chuwi HiBook Review: KEYBOARD

I am very impressed with the design and the overall quality of a keyboard. It uses metal casing on the top and plastic on the bottom, and it feels quite premium.

The buttons are easy to press and comfortable to type on. Also, they have a good travel and feedback. It took me just a few hours to get used to it to start typing normally.

It has a trackpad, which is good but not great. It is fairly responsive but it does not recognize the input if you e.g. scroll the web page very fast.

You have to know that the keyboard does not have an embedded battery and it uses the power of the attached tablet.

There are 2 USB 2.0 ports, which are great for connecting peripherals and USB sticks but keep in mind that they would not recognize devices like external disk drives.

Attaching a tablet to the keyboard is very simple but removing the tablet requires a little bit of extra effort. I am absolutely okay with that as I prefer the tablet to stay firmly. The latching mechanism works fine and it holds the tablet in one position firmly. However, it could move a bit more gracefully. See a video review to see how the latching mechanism works.

Chuwi HiBook packs some powerful internals for a sub-$200 tablet. It sports a quad-core 64-bit Intel Cherry Trail Z8300 CPU, clocked at 1.44GHz, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage.

Naturally, the storage is divided between the two operating systems. Android has around 9GB and Windows has around 30GB of accessible storage.

Chuwi HiBook Review: USER INTERFACE: Android

You can easily switch between Android and Windows with just a few clicks. Switching from one OS to another takes roughly one minute, which is fair enough.

The HiBook runs on a pretty much barebones Android 5.1. A great thing is that there is no bloatware but it would have been nice to see some customization options.

Overall, the UI has been working fast and fluid during the review. I didn’t have any app compatibility issues. Also, it works with the attached keyboard fine but keep in mind that swiping from one side to another and other gestures will not work as it would work on Windows.

Chuwi HiBook Review: WINDOWS

When it comes to the Windows, we have a fully activated full version of Windows 10 out of the box and I am pretty happy with the overall performance.

I didn’t have any issues doing all the basic stuff with the tablet as I would do with any other laptop. I edited a few Word documents, downloaded and installed a few apps, played 4k video on Youtube and from the microSD card, and did other stuff without any issues.

I love the fact that the trackpad supports Windows 10 gestures. However, the trackpad is a bit small and it takes some time to get used to it, so you should expect some accidental touches.

Overall, I am happy with the Windows performance. Don’t expect this tablet to be able to edit 4k video but it works fine for more basic stuff.

I have to admit that I’m not a huge gamer when it comes to Windows platform but I love playing some games (mainly when I test new devices) on Android. A powerful hardware allows you to play games like Asphalt 8, Nova 3 and NBA2k16 on highest graphics without any issues and the graphics look good. Finally, the device gets quite warm but the heat does not impair a good gaming performance.

Also, the speakers are kind of mediocre and the cameras are terrible (as on the majority of budget tablets).

All in all, Chuwi HiBook is still a good hybrid tablet as it has more pros than cons. For the price of just over $200, it is a good buying option if you don’t mind the above-mentioned shortcomings, which are quite common to most of the tablets in this price range, anyway.

Xiaomi have once again surprised everybody by announcing their foray into the tablet market with the release of the Mi Pad. An impressive device which seems to be able to compete directly with the iPad, rather than just emulate it. The specs are exciting in themselves, with the inclusion of the NVIDIA Tegra K1 quad-core 2.2GHz processor, a Kepler GPU with 192 CUDA cores, 2GB of RAM and a 7.9 inch 2048 x 1536 resolution display. There are two versions available, one with 16 GB internal memory and one with 32GB, and  this space is expandable to up to 128GB with MicroSD card support. The battery is a Li-Po 6700mAh battery with 11 hours of multimedia usage supported. The operating system is the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat. The rear camera is 8MP and the front-facing sensor is 5MP. The tablet itself measures 202 x 135.4 x 8.5mm and weighs 360g. There are numerous colours available; green, blue, pink, yellow, white and grey.

So how much does all this hardware, wrapped up in a beautifully designed shell cost? Intel seems ready to entering tablet business, and they targeting to develop budget Android tablet devices, to achieved their goal, Intel has cooperative with Rockchip, the one of Chinese chipset manufacturer.

Rockchip currently offers ARM-based SoCs, but its work with Intel will produce an x86 chip. The SoC will have quad Atom cores coupled with a 3G modem of Intel’s design. While colaborative with Rockchip, this processor will be named as Intel processor, this processor  will be part of the entry-level SoFIA series that already introduce by Intel on last year.

The colaboration includes the latest Intel Atom quad core processor Sofia, which also comes with a 3G modem. This collaboration with Rockchip will also be expected to strengthen the position of Intel in the tablet business.

Meanwhile Sofia quad core processor LTE version will be available in the first quarter of 2015 and will be launched in first half of 2015.
