<p>GPU Turbo technology was unveiled on the day when Huawei had announced Honor Play and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-9i">Honor 9i</a> smartphones in June. It is a hardware-software technology for accelerating the performance of the GPU of a smartphone. Huawei claims that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/honor-announces-gpu-turbo-a-turbocharger-for-your-smartphone-graphics/">GPU Turbo technology</a> can enhance the performance of GPU by 60 percent and at the same time it reduces its power consumption by 30 percent. It can also improve the performance AR, VR and EMUI user experience. A recent report has revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mediapad-m5">Huawei MediaPad M5</a> is the first tablet from the company to receive GPU Turbo technology. The tablet is expected to receive the vital update in this month.</p>
<p>The above list does not include <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a> phones. However, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/29/huawei-confirms-gpu-turbo-technology-rollout-schedule-eligible-huawei-honor-devices/">recent report</a> had revealed that some of the Honor branded smartphones will be also updated with GPU Turbo. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-10">Honor 10</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-9-lite">Honor 9 Lite</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-v10">Honor V10</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-7x">Honor 7X</a> users located in Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, India and Middle East will be treated with GPU Turbo update.</p>
<p>Some of the recently unveiled Honor phones that come with GPU Turbo technology are <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-play/">Honor Play</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-10-gt/">Honor 10 GT</a>. Huawei also plans to launch a GPU Turbo optimized gaming smartphone <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/30/huawei-to-unveil-a-gaming-phone-with-gpu-turbo-in-h2-2018/">later this year</a>.</p>

Apart from these new additions, the latest update also comes with bug fixes, including the issue of delayed reception of WeChat messages.</p>

<p>About six months ago, Huawei rolled out the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/12/05/emui-8-0-stable-update-for-mate-9-brings-android-8-0-oreo/">EMUI 8.0 update for the Mate 9 series</a> smartphones, bringing the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-oreo/">Android Oreo</a> operating system to the company&#8217;s previous year&#8217;s flagship devices. The update introduced several new features, including AI experience, smart split screen, among others.</p>
<p>The Huawei Mate 9 features a 5.9-inch Full-HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top while the Mate 9 Pro comes with a 5.5-inch display having a screen resolution of 1440 x 1080 pixels and Gorilla Glass 3 on top for protection from minor scratches.</p>
<p>Under the hood, both the smartphones run on company&#8217;s own HiSilicon <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2016/10/18/huawei-kirin-960-processor-unveiled-cpu-gpu-upgrade/">Kirin 960</a> octa-core processor. While the Mate 9 packs 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, the Pro edition comes with 4GB/6GB RAM with 64GB and 128GB storage option.</p>

Last year, the Chinese firm had launched the Mate 9 series included four smartphones such as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Huawei Mate 9</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9-porsche-design/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mate 9 Porsche Design</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mate 9 Pro</a> and Mate 9 Lite. Hence, the company is also expected to release couple of smartphones as the Mate 10 series.</p>
<p>By citing an unnamed Weibo user, a Chinese site has revealed that Huawei will be releasing its upcoming flagship smartphone in two models, the Huawei Mate 10 and the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. The former is expected to come with a regular screen, but the latter is rumored to pegged to sport a bezel-less design.</p>
<p>It also states that the regular Huawei Mate 10 would be featuring a front-mounted fingerprint reader and the Mate 10 Pro model will be having a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Mate 10 Pro could be coming with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner because there won’t be enough space for it on the front side as the smartphone is rumored to sport minimal bezels.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-145298 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Huawei-Mate-10-render-leaked-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 10 render leaked 1" width="600" height="382" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Huawei-Mate-10-render-leaked-1.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Huawei-Mate-10-render-leaked-1-300x191.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>

<p>Earlier in this month, Huawei had allegedly trademarked “<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/15/huawei-mate-10-render-video-leaks-adorning-entireview-display/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EntireView Display</a>” moniker. This could be the name of the bezel-less screen that would be arriving on the Mate 10 Pro.</p>
<p>A previous report had claimed that there would be two Mate 10 models. One of them would be featuring a 6.1-inch display that may launch as Huawei Mate 10 and the other would becoming with a 5.8-inch display that may debut as Huawei Mate 10 Lite. There is a possibility that the Chinese firm would be having Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10 Lite in the upcoming Mate 10 series phones. There is no confirmation on whether the company would be releasing Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design phone.</p>
<p>Huawei will be holding <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/16/huawei-mate-10-may-get-unveiled-october-16/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a launch event in Munich, Germany on Oct. 16 to announce the Mate 10 series</a>. The upcoming Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are heavily tipped to feature the Kirin 970 chipset. An official teaser from the company has confirmed that the company will be launching it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/22/huawei-mobile-ai-processor-launching-september-2/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mobile AI processor</a> will be showcased on Sept. 2 during the IFA 2017 event in Berlin, Germany. The AI chip is speculated to be integrated with the Kirin 970. Like the Mate 10 and 10 Pro are also expected to feature <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/22/huawei-mate-10s-first-official-video-teaser-shows-off-leica-branded-dual-cameras/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Leica branded dual rear module</a> featuring a 12-megapixel RGB sensor and a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor.</p>

It seems that the company is working on the launch of the Mate 10 as it expected to debut in October. The Huawei Mate 9 from last year is now selling with discounted pricing which seems to be another indication that the Mate 10’s arrival is fast approaching.</p>
<p>The Huawei Mate 9 Pro with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage-e was previously selling for 4,699 Yuan (~$704) on Dangdang.com in China. However, now its price has been reduced to 3,780 Yuan (~$565). The Huawei Mate 9 with 4 GB of RAM + 32 GB of storage is now selling at a low pricing of 3,099 Yuan (~$465). This recent price cuts on the Huawei Mate 9 is probably an indication that the Chinese firm is finishing the remaining stock of the Mate 9 available with its retailing partners in preparation for the launch of Mate 10.</p>

<p>Brue Lee, the Vice President of Handset Business at Huawei Consumer Business Group has recently confirmed that the company <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/15/bruce-lee-confirms-kirin-970-powers-mate-10/">Huawei Mate 10 will be a power efficient phablet</a> that will deliver topnotch performance. The Mate 10 will come with an improved system software and it will be offer optimized 4G performance and will carry the ability to support 5G. Lastly, it will offer improved camera performance.</p>
<p>Even though Huawei has not made an official announcement on the launch date of Mate 10, a real-looking launch invitation has revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/08/16/huawei-mate-10-may-get-unveiled-october-16/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">flagship phablet will be debuting on Oct. 16 in Munich, Germany</a>. Speculations are rife that that it will be arriving in two flavors such as Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro. Rumors also hint that there will be a lower-end model called Huawei Mate 10 Lite.</p>
<p>The Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro are rumored to come with differing aspect ratio. This suggests that the Mate 10 Pro could be sporting a bezel-less display whereas the Mate 10 may come with a regular display. Also, the Mate 10 may feature a front-mounted fingerprint reader whereas its Pro edition may arrive with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Both the models are rumored to be powered by the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/07/31/teaser-huawei-ai-voice-assistant/">AI driven Kirin 970 chipset.</a></p>

The Mate 9 has been on sales since then, recording catastrophic sales figures. On the other hand, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro and Porsche design which both have curved displays are yet to it store shelves nationwide. Well, that is about to change as the sleek Huawei Mate 9 has been revealed by the Chinese company to enter sales on December 15 by 10.08am.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-pro2-5/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-111046" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/huawei-mate-9-pro2.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9 pro" width="690" height="975" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/huawei-mate-9-pro2.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/huawei-mate-9-pro2-212x300.jpg 212w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a>According to a source on Weibo, the Huawei Mate 9 Pro would only see 6,000 units up for grab on that day while 10,000 units of the Mate 9 Porsche Design would be on sales on December 15. The Mate 9 which itself has a beautiful design sold over one million units since inception and considering the sleek and sturdy design of the Mate 9 Pro and Porsche Design, records are expected to be broken, expectations exceeded when the sales commence. Predictably, the Mate 9 Pro would likely be sold out in just few seconds. Even the high price tag on the Porsche Design may not be enough to prevent it from being sold out in seconds.</p>

<p>In a related news, the Mate 9 has been revealed to enter the US market soon. According to tipster @evleaks, the Huawei flagship would be available in the US market on January 6 next year. The Mate 9 is already on sale in Europe, Malaysia, Thailand, UAE and several other countries where sales is reported to have been successful. This may finally be Huawei&#8217;s year of capturing and stamping its foot on the highly lucrative US market. Samsung and Apple may just need to keep watching their back.</p>

However, there are times when your large screen smartphone decides to just slip out of your hand and hit the ground. It&#8217;s not something anyone would want for their phones, but it happens sometimes and when your phone is brand new and costs nearly $600, things can&#8217;t get worse.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-broken-02.jpg?x44794'><img width="225" height="300" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-broken-02-225x300.jpg?x44794" class="attachment-medium size-medium" alt="mate 8 broken screen" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-broken-02-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-broken-02.jpg 580w" sizes="(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px" /></a>
<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Mate-9-broken-03.jpg?x44794'><img width="225" height="300" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Mate-9-broken-03-225x300.jpg?x44794" class="attachment-medium size-medium" alt="mate 9 broken screen" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Mate-9-broken-03-225x300.jpg 225w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Mate-9-broken-03.jpg 580w" sizes="(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px" /></a>

<p>Recently, one of the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9/">Huawei Mate 9</a> users in China had such an unfortunate moment. A user recently revealed on social media that his Mate 9&#8217;s screen cracked when it fell on the ground. While this was bad, what was even worse was that he had bought this expensive 4499 Yuan ($655) flagship (6GB + 128GB) just 12 hours before this incident happened.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-screen-insurance.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-107433" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-screen-insurance.png?x44794" alt="mate 9 screen insurance" width="580" height="1031" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-screen-insurance.png 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-screen-insurance-169x300.png 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-screen-insurance-576x1024.png 576w" sizes="(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px" /></a></p>
<p>Now usually, you would have to shell out a few hundred dollars replacing the cracked screen on your brand new smartphone, but Huawei Mate 9 users in China need not fret. Huawei is offering Mate 9 users free screen replacement insurance for three months from the date of purchase. So, if you happen to drop your Mate 9 within three months accidentally, the company will offer you a free screen replacement, which sounds like a great deal.</p>

<p>Considering you are shelling out nearly $600 for a smartphone, it&#8217;s good to see Huawei taking care of its customers after their purchase.</p>

While we had seen the duo of Mate 9 and Mate 9 Porsche Design earlier on when they both went official in Germany, the Mate 9 Pro was a new addition which was outed for the first time. We have got beautiful images of the Mate 9 Ceramic white and Mate 9 Pro Rose gold versions courtesy the guys at<a href="http://mobile.it168.com/tu/3022419_1.shtml#8" target="_blank"> iT168</a>.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106849" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9 pro" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro are not similar in most aspects but the Mate 9 Pro and Mate 9 Porsche Design has a number of similarities.  In simple terms, the Mate 9 Pro is a cheaper version of the Porsche Design, same design but lacking the Porsche branded logo. The Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro comes in different display sizes. While the Mate 9 has a bigger 5.9-inch 1080 pixel flat AMOLED display, the Mate 9 Pro features a 5.5-inch curved AMOLED display with a higher 2K resolution.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-2-4/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106850" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei-mate-9-2" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>However one feature which stands out on both devices are the narrow black borders at the edge of the display. The borders are very much visible on the white ceramic version of the Mate 9 and Rose gold version of the Mate 9 Pro both on display here. That is because both versions come in white colors on the front panel.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-2-2-2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106851" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2-2.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9 pro" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2-2-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>If you think the black borders are a turn-off or deal breaker, then perhaps you should stick with the black variant of either the Mate 9 or Mate 9 Pro. The black borders won&#8217;t be very obvious since the front panel is black as well. That doesn&#8217;t in anyway reduce the beautiful, sleek designs of the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, though.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-2-3-2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106852" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2-3.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9 pro" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2-3.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-2-3-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-pro2-2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106853" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro2-2.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9 pro" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro2-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro2-2-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro4/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106860" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro4.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro4.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-vs-9-pro4-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>

Well, not until the Huawei Mate 9 was unveiled in China today and it came along with an all new Mate 9 Pro variant together with the Mate 9 Porsche Design. The <strong>Huawei Mate 9 Pro</strong> follows suit in having almost similar specs with the Mate 9 Porsche Design and also a sleek beautiful design.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-pro-9/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106726" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 9 Pro" width="600" height="876" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro-205x300.jpg 205w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Here is an array of amazing hands-on images of the Mate 9 Pro, so you&#8217;ll have a close glimpse of the device in these stunning images captured from different angles. You might think this is the Mate 9 Porsche Design we have on display here but it is not. The Huawei Mate 9 Pro looks as beautiful as the Mate 9 Porsche Design but lacks the Porsche branding engraved on the screen of the Mate 9 Porsche Design. The device also comes in four color variants namely amber gold, rose gold, silver and gray.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-pro3/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106728" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro3.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 9 Pro" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro3.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro3-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9-pro/"><strong>Huawei Mate 9 Pro</strong></a> comes with a 5.5-inch curved flexible display with the resolution bumped up to 2K and the fingerprint placed on the front. So here you have it, a Huawei smartphone with front mounted fingerprint sensor.  The device has an all metal body with fine finishing at the front but at the rear the body seems to take some brushed metal look.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-pro2/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106727" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro2.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 9 Pro" width="600" height="398" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro2-300x199.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The Mate 9 Pro retains the dual camera setup at the rear of same 20MP + 12MP sensors combo. But since the fingerprint sensor is at the home button, there is no rear fingerprint sensor. In addition, the Mate 9 Pro also has on the inside a Kirin 960 processor as well as two storage versions of 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB respectively, a 4000mAh battery with fast charge support and lots more offerings.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-pro4/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106729" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro4.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 9 Pro" width="600" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro4.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-pro4-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>As the device is beautiful on the outside, so also is the interface as the Mate 9 Pro runs EMUI 5.0 based on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box.</p>

However apart from releasing the above-mentioned devices, the tech giant also unveiled a China-exclusive model, the<a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei"> Huawei </a>Mate 9 Pro at the event today.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-n-Mate-9-Pro-.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106703" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-n-Mate-9-Pro-.jpg?x44794" alt="Mate 9 " width="610" height="407" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-n-Mate-9-Pro-.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-n-Mate-9-Pro--300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>Since two of the models were already released internationally, you must already be familiar with their design and specs. As for the Mate 9 Pro, take it as a Mate 9 Porsche Design variant, without the Porsche branding to inflate the price.</p>
<p>Here are the key differences between the three models.</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9/"><strong>Huawei Mate 9</strong></a> comes with a 5.9-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080p resolution and a rear placed fingerprint sensor. There are six color options for this standard model including mocha gold, champagne gold, silver moonlight, ceramic white, gray sky and bright black.</p>
<figure id="attachment_106706" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-106706" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Pro-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-106706" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Pro-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 9 Pro" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Pro-1.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Pro-1-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-106706" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei Mate 9 Pro</figcaption></figure>
<p>The <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9-pro/"><strong>Huawei Mate 9 Pro</strong></a> on the other hand, comes with a 5.5-inch curved flexible display with the resolution bumped up to 2K and the fingerprint placed on the front. There are four color options for the Pro variant namely amber gold, rose gold, silver and gray.</p>
<p>Finally, the <strong>Mate 9 Porsche design</strong> version comes with a unique look, as explained in our <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/11/03/huawei-mate-9-porsche-design-comes-crazy-price-tag-features-dual-curved-display/">international launch coverage</a>, featuring a 5.5-inch flexible 2K display, 7.5mm thin body, and front facing fingerprint sensor. This particular limited edition is only available in black color.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/11/09/camera-samples-huawei-mate-9-porsche-design/">Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design Camera Samples</a></strong></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>While there were some differences, the basic hardware seems to be the same on all the three devices. They are powered by Huawei&#8217;s latest chip, the Kirin 960 octa-core processor with Mali-G71 GPU with support for Vulkan graphics standards. These phones support Huawei Pay and also come with chip level built-in security features. There&#8217;s a large 4000mAh battery common to the three models with SuperCharge fast charging that promises quick charging times thanks to 3.5-5V / 5A charging standards. They also support Cat. 12 LTE speeds.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Kirin-960.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106704" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Kirin-960.jpg?x44794" alt="kirin 960" width="610" height="203" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Kirin-960.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Kirin-960-300x100.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>The camera is definitely the highlight of the Mate series, and all three have a 20MP monochrome + 12MP color sensor dual camera module at the back. Other camera features include 2x zoom, Laser Focus, OIS, and dual LED flash. Up front, there&#8217;s an 8MP f/1.9 aperture shooter. Coming to the software, the three models will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box based on EMUI 5.0 interface.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Mate-9-camera.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-106705" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Mate-9-camera.jpg?x44794" alt="mate 9 camera" width="610" height="203" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Mate-9-camera.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Mate-9-camera-300x100.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>As for the pricing, the Huawei Mate 9 4GB + 32GB version is priced at 3399 Yuan ($497), 4GB + 64GB version is priced at 3899 Yuan ($570), and 6GB + 128GB version is priced at 4499 Yuan ($658).</p>

Huawei is calling it a limited edition model and there are some features that really make it stand out from the crowd. This is also the first dual curved smartphone from the company, making it special. But will you be willing to spend 1395 Euros for this beast? Yes, you heard it right! That&#8217;s the official price tag of the Porshe Design, which translates closely to $1547. So, let&#8217;s take a look at what you get at this crazy price.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Porsche-Design.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105788" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Porsche-Design.png?x44794" alt="Mate 9" width="738" height="492" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Porsche-Design.png 738w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Porsche-Design-300x200.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 738px) 100vw, 738px" /></a></p>
<p>First of all, as you may have guessed already, the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design is crafted by the popular Porsche Design studio. You get a dual curved flexible AMOLED display on the front. To make things symmetrical, the back is also curved, taking the minimum thickness of the phone to just 3mm. You get the Porsche Design logo at the back and that&#8217;s probably why the company decided to move the fingerprint sensor to the front.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Porsche-Design-02-.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105783" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Porsche-Design-02-.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei-mate-9-porsche-design-02" width="728" height="485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Porsche-Design-02-.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Huawei-Mate-9-Porsche-Design-02--300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></a></p>
<p>Now, note that this edition comes with a smaller screen of 5.5-inches as compared to the 5.9-inches on the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-9/">Mate 9 </a>regular edition. But the AMOLED display will look amazing thanks to its 2K resolution. The processor is the same as the regular version &#8212; Kirin 960 but the RAM and ROM are upgraded to 6GB and 256GB respectively. The camera is also the same setup as the regular version &#8212; 20MP + 12MP with Leica branding. Also, note that the battery is still 4000mAh despite the reduction in screen size.</p>

Although we are very certain about the Mate 9 launch, what is not certain is the  Mate 9 Pro as it had featured in just a couple of leaks with no real live renders to back up the claim.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/huawei-mate-9-real-3/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105368" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9 " width="690" height="388" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/huawei-mate-9-real-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>However, we have got another one, a fresh leak detailing what is said to be some of the specifications of the Huawei Mate 9 Pro. From the leaked information, the Mate 9 Pro sports a 5.9-inch 2K double-edge curved display, fired up by the Kirin 960 processor with a huge 6GB RAM in tow. The Mate 9 Pro vis also listed as featuring a massive 256GB of internal storage space and would run on Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed from factory.</p>
<p><a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/mate-9-pro/"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-105448" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-pro.jpg?x44794" alt="huawei mate 9 pro" width="600" height="201" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-pro.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/mate-9-pro-300x101.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Apparently, the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro would feature the same dual Leica camera set up with 12MP + 20MP sensors at the rear. Furthermore, the flagship device is said to pack a front fingerprint sensor in addition to the rear mounted one. If true, then it would make the Mate 9 Pro the first Huawei smartphone to have a fingerprint recognition sensor at the front.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong>Read More: <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/10/25/huawei-mate-9-chinese-edition-launch-november-9/">Huawei Mate 9 Chinese Edition Could Launch on November 9</a></strong></p>
<p>We cannot verify the credibility of this information, though. Besides mass producing a device with display as large as 5.9 inches with 2K resolution and double curved edges isn&#8217;t an easy feat.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-104897 size-full" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Mate-9-displays.png?x44794" alt="Mate 9 Display" width="600" height="154" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Mate-9-displays.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Mate-9-displays-300x77.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Sun Changxu says the Huawei Mate 9 will have a 5.88-inch Full HD LCD display supplied by <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/JDI/">JDI</a> and LG. He also mentions that another screen, OLED to be specific, and with a 5.5&#8221; size will be supplied by Samsung. There is no mention of a supplier for a curved display fitting the screen size of the Mate 9 and the 5.5&#8221; <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oled/">OLED</a> display is rumoured to be for the Mate S2 which we have not heard any details about.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-103881" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Mate-9-Pro-1.jpg?x44794" alt="mate-9-pro" width="492" height="691" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Mate-9-Pro-1.jpg 492w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Mate-9-Pro-1-214x300.jpg 214w" sizes="(max-width: 492px) 100vw, 492px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">So where did all the curved-display rumour come from? We&#8217;ll have to wait for the launch event to confirm if it has indeed been cancelled.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">Renders of the curved variant, called the Mate 9 Pro have been ridiculed for looking like a Galaxy Note 7 rip off. But the Galaxy Note 7 is resting in peace now, so if another company decides to make something similar that doesn&#8217;t explode, shouldn&#8217;t we all be happy?</p>
