Samsung could soon launch Galaxy Note 9 in Pure White color variant

After launching the Cloud Silver color variant for the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung is all set to launch yet another color variant for its flagship smartphone — Pure White.

Evan Blass, a trusted leakster has shared a render of the upcoming all-new Pure White color variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. While he is usually accurate when it comes to his leaks, this time he mentions that he is not completely sure about the render’s legitimacy.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Pure White

If the Pure White Galaxy Note 9 really becomes a reality, it’ll be the first Galaxy Note-series smartphone to be offered in White color after the Galaxy Note 5 which was launched in 2015. Later, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge were also launched in White colors.

Currently, not much is known about the Pure White color variant for the Galaxy Note 9. So, we are not sure if it’ll be available globally or will be introduced in select markets only, if it ever gets announced. So far, the Cloud Silver color variant is limited to the US market only.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is currently offered in four colors — Metallic Copper, Lavender Purple, Ocean Blue, and Midnight Black, and Cloud Silver, depending on the region.

To remind you of the phone’s specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 features 6.4-inch S-AMOLED screen with Infinity Display design, which carries support for Quad HD+ resolution that’s protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor is powering the device in some markets while in other markets, it is powered by the company’s own Exynos 9810 chipset.

The phone comes in two models — one with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage while another packs 8GB RAM and 512GB internal storage. Coming to the camera, the device features a dual camera setup consisting of two 12-megapixel snappers. There’s an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

Race Between Smartphones and Computers – Will the Former Replace the Latter?

Are smartphones like computers? Will they be able to replace computers? Well, it won’t be wrong to say that smartphones and computers are running a close race. Smartphones are really close to beating computers and it is, indeed, a tough competition between the two.

If you are wondering whether your next technological purchase should be a smartphone or a computer, then buy smartphones today. You will not regret the decision.

How Are Smartphones Better than Computers

Smartphones are a lot like computers in numerous ways. They are taking over the market and are getting more popular than computers — all for good reasons. The very first advantage smartphones have over computers are they are extremely easy to carry. You can take them with you anywhere and enjoy almost every feature that is offered by a computer — and then some more.

 samsung fodlable phone

Every smartphone can be connected to the Internet via 3G/4G or Wi-Fi and it supports incredible speeds. Due to the fast internet access, you can perform a number of online activities, regardless of where you are. Social media, office work, online gaming, online shopping, music, movies, etc., are just some of the activities that you can enjoy on your smartphone.

Smartphones prove to be a great companion of workaholics too. There is no need to worry about missing important emails when you are away from the office. You can even make and send presentations and excels on smartphones. It is literally like carrying a computer in your pocket!

Despite being small in size and weighing less, a smartphone is comparable to a computer in terms of RAM, processors and storage.

3 Reasons Why Smartphones are winning

  1. Foldable Smartphones

Technological advancements have taken place in displays, allowing them to be flexible.A foldable smartphone looks like a wallet which folds into half, with an image on the outside that you can interact with and you can fold it open for a larger image.

  1. 7nm Processor

Companies are rolling out a 7nm processor that delivers faster performance, savesmore power and sports a higher resolution screen and camera. What’s more? It will also support phones with 5G connectivity.

  1. Snapdragon 850

The Snapdragon 850 presents insanely speedy performance that gamers and on-the-go binge watchers can spoil themselves with. You can also benefit from features like LTE-connectivity and extended battery life.

Computers Over Smartphones

There are numerous areas where smartphones can beat a computer but it is impossible to deny the computer its rightful spot in certain areas. For example, computers are a common sight in every single office, all over the world. You cannot expect people to work using their smartphones in offices. It is true that people can make excels and presentations on the phones and even send emails, but computers offer a better platform to maintain excels, powerpoint, word doc, etc., as compared to the smartphones.

 lenovo yoga 7 pro

Additionally, many people prefer typing on a full keyboard that a computer can offer rather than typing on type pads that are only a few inches big. So, when it comes to work, computers are next to irreplaceable. Moreover, the size of the display is perhaps the only one area where a computer will always beat the smartphone.

In Conclusion

The line between a smartphone and computer is getting blurred with each passing day. Several smartphones can perform the tasks of computers such as emailing, writing blog posts, and store information, while computers are able to perform phone-like functions like making a call, sending a text, or finding a phone number.

While it may be impossible to think of smartphones completely replacing the computer in the next few years, there is a high possibility that bridge between the two will keep getting smaller.

China smartphone shipments expected to drop by over 10% in Q4 2018

Chinese smartphone market has been grappling with the challenge of a saturated market occasioned by the rapid influx of new models into the market. This has led to a drop in the total number of shipments in recent times. Research firm Digitimes predicts that shipments of smartphones in China will continue its downward spiral by over 10%. This will signify a continuation of poor shipments from the third quarter which dropped by 6.9% Year on Year in the third quarter of 2018.

The expected drop in shipments is not only hinged on a saturated market alone but it is also related to a reduction in subsidies for the purchase of 4G phones by local telecom operators. It is also related to a lengthening of the device replacement cycle by users who tend to use phones for longer periods now. There is a link between this reason and the rate of product releases as users have apparently become fed up with seeing a new, slightly upgraded model of their new phone just a couple of months after the release.

However, the Double Eleven (11.11) shopping festival is likely to drive total smartphone shipment in the fourth quarter but Digitimes projects that won’t be enough to guarantee a sequential gain in Q4. Digitimes projects a drop over 10% when compared to last year’s figures. The research firm also hinted that Apple is expected to make a big climb in the Chinese market in the fourth quarter and could outpace OPPO and Vivo to clinch the third spot in terms of smartphone shipments with the availability of the iPhone XR and the older-generation iPhone devices at lower prices. This underscores the popularity of the Apple brand in China.

iPhone Sales to decline in India for Q4 2018, to witness first fall in last 4 years

It’s not only around the world, but the global decline in the smartphone shipments is also taking place in India as Apple is bracing itself for its first fall in the fourth quarter this year in India. If we calculate on a year-on-year basis, then the Cupertino giant will decline for the first time in the last four years. As according to a new reasearch report from Counterpoint, Apple is struggling to make pace despite the ongoing festive season in India.

As per Counterpoint’s research director Neil Shah, the sales are expected to remain between 700000 to 800000 units in comparison to a million last year at the same time.

Apple Logo

“Sales are set to drop for the first time in four years,” Shah said. “If you look at Q3 – it was 900k last year and this (year) is almost 450k.” He further added, “iPhones have gone costlier and the features and specs aren’t that compelling. The install base of Android has grown vastly; the new customer base (for Apple) is not coming.”

Apple even blamed the disappointing global sales by pointing towards poor sales this year in the emerging markets. Well, the blame game has started, and the companies are terming the global slowdown for the decline in performance this year. Tim Cook pulled some wraps off the problems that company is facing by terming them as  “speed bumps along a very long journey.”

While other analysts are talking about Apple’s lost glory as the Cupertino giant is unable to offer compelling features at a high price. People are leaning towards more costlier Android phones which have gone to different levels.

Overall, the current scenario is not too bad for Apple, and it seems the company needs to reinvent ways to lure customers. Besides, old iPhone sales remained high means Indian revenue will be flat or will gain a little more than the last year but will end in red (loss).

Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth hints at price hike post Diwali season

Oppo‘s sub-brand Realme which made its mark in India’s budget smartphone segment with aggressive pricing could soon increase the pricing of its products in the Indian market.

Realme India CEO Madhav Seth said through Twitter that the brand has been on a backfoot because of the declining margins mainly due to the falling of Rupee. He further hinted that the company could hike prices post-Diwali to make up for the margins.

The Indian Rupee has been tumbling since the beginning of the year and has now touched a record low of Rs. 72.84 against USD. This increases the company’s cost for importing which in turn hits the company’s margin which probably is pretty low in such a competitive market. Also, most components are bought in US dollars from other countries, such as China and Japan, among others.

Realme Logo

While the post from Realme India CEO does not currently say whether the price hike will be for all products or a particular offering, it seems pretty certain that the company will increase the pricing after the Diwali festival.

In the twitter post, Madhav Sheth, CEO of Realme India said:

The rupee rates are falling and as a brand, we actually work on low margins. It indicates that we might have to upgrade the pricing, just to make sure that we continue to give you the best technology in our upcoming offerings. We are trying to figure out a solution post-Diwali.

This is the second smartphone manufacturer who has hinted about the price increase post-Diwali in India. Recently, during the Redmi 6 line-up launch in India in September, Xiaomi hinted towards price hike and said that it’ll wait for a few months to see how INR performs against USD before taking such a move. Given that the Rupee is still falling, it seems that Xiaomi will increase the price of its products after Diwali.

Realme started off as an online-only sub-brand of China-based Oppo but later split from its parent company to work as an independent brand. Apart from selling its phones through its official website and other online marketplaces such as Amazon and Flipkart, it also partnered with Reliance Digital for selling its phones through offline stores.

So far, the company has launched four smartphones — Realme 1, Realme 2, Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1. The company has posted pretty impressive numbers, highlighting the newly-formed company’s popularity in the budget smartphone segment. The company claims to have sold more than 2 million phones during the Big Billion Days and Festive Dhamaka Sale on Flipkart.

Till date, the Realme 2 has been the brand’s bestselling phone, having sold more than 1 million devices in just 40 days of the launch. It also claims to have sold over 110,000 units of Realme C1 entry-level phone in just one second during Flipkart’s sale.

iPhone with 5G support could come with Intel modem in 2020

It’s been a year since companies have started marketing their efforts and approach for 5G technology. Every major manufacturer and service provider is advertising their works and trials for 5G network compatibility. Still, there’s a lot more gap between these products and the actual 5G network standards. It might take another one year to bridge this gap. As in the US, major carriers have started investing heavily in the new technology, and Apple has also started thinking about it.

iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

So, in order to get the most out of 5G network in the US, the Cupertino giant is partnering with different companies. As per the new report by Fast Company, it is believed that Apple will introduce 5G compatible iPhone in 2020 and will use the Intel’s 10-nanometer 8161 modem. It is coming from a source who has proper knowledge of Apple’s plans.

Well, this means Apple will cut ties with Qualcomm? As from past couple of years, Apple is utilizing the modems from both Qualcomm and Intel but, from next year it might cut ties with the Qualcomm.

Additionally, Intel is testing 5G support with its current 8060 modem chip, but results are not satisfactory, it is getting overheated. In order to make it compatible with the millimeter wave, an electromagnetic radiation spectrum for 5G between 30 -300 GHz, Intel needs to invent something else.

Although, Intel is confident to solve the issue and will cater a new 5G modem with advanced capabilities to support 5G. On the hand, Qualcomm is already in works with the X50 5G modem which will take place on various Android devices like Samsung, Xiaomi and Huawei.

Many Android Manufacturers might come with 5G support in 2019, but Apple’s decision to postpone it to 2020 is not good news for some. Even, Xiaomi has launched Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 with 5G support, but we are unable to utilize it as the network carriers do not offer support for it.

Overall, all the things should work parallelly, the 5G network should be available first from the carriers, as then only a user can test it. Even, the services and other products should be mature enough to bring the 5G services to users.

We suggest taking this information as a pinch of salt in the ocean as nothing is confirmed. Even, we can’t compare whether it is a good or a bad decision from Apple. We have to wait and watch for at least the next year before we start guessing anything.

Honor V20 and mysterious Huawei VCE-AL00/TL00 phone spotted on CMIIT and 3C

A new Huawei phone with variants VCE-AL00 and VCE-TL00 have been spotted on the website of CMIIT and 3C authorities in China. The exact identity of the Huawei VCE-AL00/TL00 smartphone is not known yet. Since it carries support for 18W charging, it could be one of the upcoming high-end phones from the Chinese manufacturer.

The CMIIT listings of Huawei VCE-AL00 and VCE-TL00 does not carry any information on their specifications. Their 3C listings suggest that the device includes support for 9V/2A (18W fast charging). Last year, Honor had launched the Honor V10 as its first Kirin 970 powered smartphone by the end of November. Hence, it is being speculate that the Huawei VCE-AL00/TL00 could be the Honor V20 phone.

In the previous week, Honor had launched the Honor Magic 2 as its Kirin 980 SoC driven smartphone. The handset carries support for 40W fast charging. Since, Honor has included support faster rapid charging technology on Magic 2, it seems that the company may offer faster charging than 40W on Honor V20. Hence, there is no concrete evidence to prove the newly spotted device is Honor V20.

In October, Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) had approved the PCT-L29 phone as Honor View 20. In China, the smartphone may debut Honor V20 moniker. The PCT-AL10 and PCT-TL10 models which could be the Honor V20 has been already approved by CMIIT agency in China. The PCT-AL10/TL10 model have not appeared on 3C and TENAA yet.

Huawei Finland to exchange faulty Mate 20 Pro units having green tint display bleed issue

Huawei recently launched Mate 20 Pro, but it seems, in a hurry the Chinese manufacturer forget to test the display on some Mate 20 Pro units. From past few days, users are complaining about the greenish tint issue on its display in some countries. Though as an instant remedy, Huawei UK community manager made a semi-official statement. Today, Huawei Finland issued a statement and announced to exchange the faulty Mate 20 Pro devices for free.

In another statement from Huawei UK community manager, it is believed that after proper investigation they will replace the faulty display without any additional question being asked. He requested users not to get it fixed from local repair station as it may void the warranty and may lead to a decline in the demand for replacement. So guys, if you are having an issue than just hit to the official Huawei repair stores and request for replacement.

In a statement, Huawei UK community manager responded saying, “The Mate 20 Pro uses an industry-leading flexible OLED screen featuring special design curved edges for an enhanced visual experience and holding comfort. This may lead to slight discoloration when viewed from different angles. In extremely dim lighting conditions, when the screen brightness is too low, or when using dark wallpapers, these differences can be exaggerated. If the color cast affects your normal use, take your phone to an authorized Customer Service Center for assistance.”

Ultimately, Huawei has started addressing the Huawei Mate 20 Pro problems after a major defect in its displays were found a few days ago. Also, ask Huawei Service centers to entirely replace the Huawei Mate 20 Pro unit instead of a partial repairing the display.
