Meizu Pro 7 Real Back Shell Leaks: Similar To Recent Renders

More evidence keeps coming out to confirm Meizu is indeed serious now about the flagship Pro 7 that has been on the front burner of leaks for the past year or so. Not too long ago, Meizu’s new senior VP sort of confirmed the existence of the Pro 7 with a new design and very recently, a couple of renders of the Meizu Pro 7 leaked showing it will have a secondary display at the rear. Turns out the renders may just be the real Pro 7 as a couple of leaked fuselage of the Pro 7 have appeared which look similar to the renders. meizu pro 7

The metal fuselage which appears in red and black colors are said to be those of the Pro 7. The Meizu logo is also written at the back. Of particular importance is the rear shell which shows that the design comes with provision for a secondary display which would be domiciled at the rear. There is also a wide opening at the top which is just wide enough for a dual camera setup and way to wide to house one camera. That is also an indication that the Pro 7 will likely come with a dual camera setup as already rumoured.

The Pro 7 may also have received 3C certification in China with two new Meizu models M792C and M792Q spotted to have received 3C certification. Speculation that these models may be the Pro 7 models were fuelled by the 24W fast charging capacity their chargers feature which was also featured by the flagship Pro 6 Plus’ charger.meizu pro 7

The Meizu Pro 7 is expected to utilize MeidaTek’s latest Helio X30 flagship chip and a USB type-C interface among other new features but the 3.5mmm audio jack is still retained. The device is also expected with the U-shaped antenna band design which has been a regular on Meizu models lately. Earlier rumours tip the Pro 7 as launching on July 10 but we are not so sure about that.

Leaked Oppo Find 9 Renders: Slim Bezels with a Physical Home Button

OPPO’s Find family has always been the ever loved lineup from the Chinese brand, but it has not been updated since the past couple of years. While it is safe to assume that the lineup is officially dead, rumors about a new Find series phone always seem to crop up every once in a while.

Two new renders have been leaked yesterday, showing what is believed to be Oppo’s Find 9. Previous leaks depicting the Oppo Find 9 also show thin accents to the top and bottom of the smartphone and extremely thin side bezels. The renders show uncertainty whether the display will be a curved panel or be housed with curved glass sides. The likelihood of this happening will be narrow, whilst an edge to edge screen is more probable to end up in the final product’s design.

Renders Showing The Find 9.

In comparison to previous leaks reported, these newly surfaced renders show a slim front-facing home button at the bottom of the Oppo Find 9. If these renders proved to be more accurate than previous leaks, we would have expect the button to operate with a conventional fingerprint scanner.

The issue that is design shows is the awkwardly positioned home button placement on a small narrow bezel. This could have potentially effect everyday usage negative, depending on the phone’s user.

OPPO Find 9

Earlier Render Of The Find 9.

In terms of the internals, we would have expected the flagship device to be powered by a Snapdragon 835 paired with a minimum 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and accompanied with expandable external storage via MicroSD card. For photography and video, we would have seen the Oppo Find 9 housing a 21-megapixel rear shooter and a 16-megapixel front-facing selfie shooter. The battery could have been sized at 4,100mAh and with a lack of removability.

Keeping to previous rumors, the Oppo Find 9 may also have had a more affordable, lower powered twin, in the works with a Snapdragon 653 chipset paired with 4GB RAM.

Considering the last model, the Find 7, was released a good three years ago; and confirmation that the Find line has been discontinued, we would be taking a large pinch of salt if the Find 9 would ever resurface again.

Do you think the Find 9 would resemble closely to these renders in consideration the previous Find 7?

Microsoft’s Foldable Tablet Design Revealed in Patent Images

A lot of expectations are set on Microsoft to reveal its next Windows 10 Mobile powered smartphone. However, there is no still concrete evidence available that shows that Microsoft’s new flagship is arriving soon. In the recent past, the Redmond giant has consistently filed patents for various kinds of handheld devices with foldable design. Yet again, new images of what appears to be a foldable tablet has been revealed through patent filing.

The patent filings and the images indicates that even though it is a foldable tablet, its size is similar to a smartphone than a tablet. The images show that the tablet features a series of hinges which makes it possible to fold it at various degrees.  At 0 degrees, the device appears closed whereas at 180 degrees, it looks open in a flat manner and it is completely open at 360 degrees.

At 180 degrees, the inner screens of the device offer a single user interface. In other layouts, it can provide users with separate interfaces on each display. The magnets and hinges come in to play to hold the device in different types of configurations. In 180-degre design, the magnet enables the screen to have a seamless appearance.

As far as the size of the device is concerned, the scale of the camera port indicates that it would be a smartphone-sized device instead of a regular-sized tablet. It could be an ARM-based Windows 10 tablet that offers its users with topnotch productivity on the go.

It is interesting to note that in 2009, Microsoft had released a video of a similar device that shows the future of productivity. Even though it appears to be an interesting device, there is no confirmation this patent design may end up as a real device.

Chinese Celebrity Gossip Clampdown In Social Media

Gossip blogging accounts, including ones from Chinese social networks Baidu and Tencent, will be ushered away from mainstream social media.

harpers bazaar ban china

Chinese social network magnets have closed 60 accounts dedicated to celebrity gossip after authorities have imposed tighter regulations aimed to suppress the amount of rumors

As reported by Reuters, the Beijing Cyberspace Administration’s social media account unveiled a meeting between the social media giants and said that it expects websites in the country to “adopt effective measures to keep in check the problems of the embellishment of private sex scandals of celebrities, the hyping of ostentatious celebrity spending and entertainment and catering to the poor taste of the public.”

Furthermore, social media must also “actively propagate core socialist values, and create an ever-more healthy environment for the mainstream public opinion”, states Reuters.

Chinese gossip websites have been known to be persistent when it comes to investigative activities. This case shows that the Chinese authorities have recently been more active when surveilling independent media. Some early responses have been negative; however, these internet spaces were not the most approachable or friendly.

What we understand is that even Chinese social media magnets like Baidu and Tencent must respect the regulation passed by their governmental authorities, in line with counterparts such as Twitter and Facebook.

What are your thoughts about the restriction to celebrity gossip in China?

Oukitel K6000 Plus Review – Everlasting 6080mAh Battery!

Oukitel is known for producing phones with huge batteries and the K6000 Plus is one of the best examples. The device has a beefy 6080mAh battery and pretty good specs for the price of about $170. Learn more in the full Oukitel K6000 Plus review.

UNBOXING

The phone ships with all the usual stuff and some extras include a USB OTG cable, a screen protector, a soft TPU case and last but not least, a fast charger.

DESIGN and DISPLAY

The Oukitel K6000 Plus’s main selling point is a huge battery and that’s why the phone weighs about 200g. The build quality is pretty good and the phone is made mostly of metal. However, I found that the power button rattles just a bit.

The 5.5” 1080p display is pretty sharp for everyday use. It is also great that we have a notification LED light, 8MP selfie shooter and nicely backlit capacitive keys.

The fingerprint scanner is accurate, fast and it can unlock the phone from the standby mode. I like that the home button has integrated touch panel. My favorite features include tap to go back or tap and hold it to open up recent apps.

As far as optics go, we have 16MP camera coupled with LED flash.

The loudspeaker quality does not really impress like on most of the budget phones.

HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE

The Oukitel K6000 Plus ships with an octa-core MTK6750T CPU, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

When it comes to gaming, the phone can handle some 3D titles like Asphalt 8 on medium graphics very well. However, the phone starts lagging quite a lot if you switch graphics to the max.

BENCHMARKS

USER INTERFACE

The phone ships with Android 7 out of the box with the Oukitel’s skin on top of it that preserves most of the looks of stock Android but there are some added features. Just to name a few, there is a floating window feature, quite a few gesture and motion controls that work quite well but some of them are quite slow to respond.

Also, the one-handed mode can be triggered by swiping from left to right. As far as the UI performance, it is actually pretty good. Even after installing quite a few apps, I didn’t have any stutter or lag, thanks to 4GB of RAM.

IMAGE QUALITY

The image quality is one of the weakest points of this phone. Sure, you can get some decent daylight photos out of it but more often than not, the images will have washed out colors, poor dynamic range and quite a low amount of detail.

The situation becomes even worse in low-light situations.

As for selfies, they are from the best but you will be able to get some usable pictures for social media.

The 1080p video looks kind of mediocre like on most of the cheap phones.

CONNECTIVITY

When it comes to connectivity, the K6000 Plus performs well and I had no issues with Wifi, Bluetooth or call quality. Even the GPS is pretty accurate.

BATTERY LIFE

6080mAh battery performs extremely well. I could literally use the phone for almost 4 days and that translates to about 9 or even 10 hours of screen-on time, depending on the usage.

The fast charger can fully charge the phone in about 1:40 h.

CONCLUSIONS

The Oukitel K6000 Plus is for those who look for a metal-made budget device with outstanding battery life, good day-to-day performance and some nice extra features, a ton of storage and 4GB of RAM.

At the end of the day, Oukitel K6000 Plus is a decent offering for the price but you have to consider if you take a lot of pictures with your phone or not, because this phone has just a mediocre camera, which makes it the main shortcoming.

It Is A non-Sticky Situation For The Screen of The BlackBerry KEYOne

The BlackBerry KEYOne is now available for purchase in different markets. The TCL made phone has gotten mixed reviews but most people are pleased with the physical keyboard. However, there seems to be an issue with the build quality of the phone.

BlackBerry KEYOne

YouTuber, JerryRigEverything found out in his durability test that the screen of the KEYOne comes off easily. Turns out that the only thing holding the screen in place is the cable from the motherboard. No adhesive, no glue, no sticky tape.

A search on Google later revealed complaints from different owners. Small drops to the floor and the screen pops off. One user even says he woke to see his screen and come off on its own.

Moto X4 Details Leaked: Snapdragon 660, IP68 Rating, Dual Cameras & Possible June 30 Launch

The Moto X series used to be the flagship line for Motorola, but last year Lenovo replaced it with the Moto Z. Since there was no new Moto X phone launched in 2016, that led to speculations that the line was killed off. Turns out that it wasn’t as we will be getting a new Moto X phone this year. However, the Moto X4 will now be a upper-mid range phone.

Moto-X4 Press Render

We first saw leaked press renders of the device two months ago when it was still referred to as the Moto X (2017). It had a design similar to the Moto Z but lacked the moto mod connector pins. It also had dual rear cameras and a glass body. A leaked image showing Motorola’s lineup for the rest of the year later revealed its name to be Moto X4.

Specification details of the Moto X4 were leaked on Twitter by Andri Yatim (@HeyAndri). His post was retweeted by @Rquandt, a popular leakster, lending some sort of credence to the post.

According to him, the Moto X4 will supposedly launch on June 30th. It will have an IP68 rating (waterproof up to 1.5m for 30 minutes), dual rear cameras, and a glass body. He also adds that the Snapdragon 660 will power the phone and it will have a 3800mAh battery with fast charging.

We already know the display is 5.2-inches with a 1080p resolution, and RAM will possibly not be less than 4GB.

The Moto X4 does look like a winner already. The only thing they need to get right is the pricing. Will it sell for the same price as the Moto Z2 Play because it lacks support for Moto Mods but throws in some tricks of its own or will it sell for less or even higher?

Moto Brazil Event

The device scheduled to launch is unknown. Some say it is the Moto E4 and E4 Plus, others say it might be the Moto Z2. Brazil is an important market for Motorola, so it doesn’t matter if it is the Moto E4, E4 Plus or Moto Z2.

Moto E4 Plus Render

The E series used to be the cheapest Motorola phones until this year when Lenovo added the Moto C and Moto C Plus.

The Moto E4 will have a 5-inch Gorilla Glass 3 protected display, 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. It will have a Mediatek MT6737M SoC, a 2800mAh removable battery and run Android 7.1.1 out of the box. Some markets will even get models with NFC.

The VKWorld Z3310 is A Lookalike of The Nokia 3310 (2017)

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The VKworld Z3310 is an imitation of the Nokia 3310 (2017). Save for the VKworld branding on the chin of the display, the Z3310 can pass for the revived legend.

VKworld Z3310

The VKworld Z3310 is expected to be released at the end of June and will sell for about half the price of the Nokia 3310 (2017). The Nokia 3310 is priced at €49 (~$55), which is high for a feature phone. The Z3310 will not only sell for less but is said to even feature better specs.

The new Nokia 3310 has a 2.4” display, 16MB of built-in memory and a microSD card slot (32GB max.) It also features a 2MP rear camera with flash and a 1200mAh battery. If VKWorld is offering something better, then we should expect a larger built-in memory, a higher resolution camera and a slightly bigger battery.

New OnePlus 5 Video Teaser Gives Us a Glimpse of Its Curves

OnePlus has released its first OnePlus 5 teaser video showing off glimpses of features of the smartphone scheduled to be officially launched on the 20th June.

OnePlus 5 confirmed

The 10-second short video reveals the feature already leaked and officially tweeted of the dual camera set-up on the rear of the phone with the camera flash off center to the left of the device. From the official tweet from OnePlus, we can confirm that the OnePlus will remain constructed with a metal, most likely aluminum unibody.

OnePlus 5 leaked sketch dual rear camrea

An earlier leaked source suggests the set-up is expected to house two different camera sensors, one color and one monochrome, providing better low-light performance in evening shots. This builds upon more leaks revealed before that OnePlus has been collaborating with DxO to improve the photograph quality.

What other details do we know?

Although OnePlus hasn’t officially confirmed the specs of the Oneplus 5, we are very certain that the smartphone will house a Snapdragon 835 paired with 8GB RAM. The phone is expected to be running Android 7.1.1 out of the box. We would not be surprised to see more teaser videos posted by OnePlus in the coming weeks before the release date.

New 13.3-inch Mi Notebook Air

Helio X20-Powered Lenovo XT1902-3 Appears on Geekbench, May Be Moto M2

Last year, Lenovo (Motorola) added two new lines to its smartphone catalog: the Moto Z series and the Moto M. While the former was more of a global release, the latter was released in a few Asian countries. The Moto M may be getting a successor soon,  and we think it is the Lenovo XT1902-3 phone that was seen on Geekbench.

Lenovo XT1902-3

The Lenovo XT1902-3 is running Android 7.1.1 and has 4GB of RAM. There is a deca-core MT6797 processor clocked at 1.85GHz. For those who don’t know, that is the Helio X20 chip. The phone scores 1163 points in the single-core test and 4836 in the multi-core test.

Last year’s Moto M was available in two models asides the different memory configurations. One model was powered by a Helio P10 chip while the model released in India had the Helio P15 SoC. Since this is the first sighting of the phone, it is still too early to say if the same will happen this year.

OnePlus’ Product Manager Strongly Defends the Design Of the OnePlus 5

OnePlus is known to hype its products before launch and the company has managed to successfully get the attention of millions of fans worldwide for most of its recent launches. This year, OnePlus decided to show a good glimpse of the OnePlus 5 well before launch. This was actually a surprising move given that most companies try to guard the official design until the release date. But to be honest, the rumors about the OnePlus 5 were flying around like crazy in the past few days and it was probably a good move to put rest to those rumors, especially about the rear camera arrangement, by releasing an official teaser image.

OnePlus 5 confirmed

But apparently it did more harm than good as seeing the dual camera arrangement similar to the iPhone 7 Plus, many fans were not happy and resorted to social media to express their disappointment over the final design. This could be seen on Twitter as well as China’s Weibo.

And when a company’s product is criticized even before it’s officially unveiled, a company like OnePlus won’t just sit back and relax. Recently, OnePlus’ Product Manager responded to a question on Zhihu (which is very similar to Quora) about the OnePlus 5′ final design. He defended the design of the phone with multiple points. Even OnePlus’ CEO Liu Zuohu forwarded the manager’s answer on his official Weibo page earlier today.

RELATED: GFXBench Reveals OnePlus 5 Will Have 16MP Cameras, 5.5-inch FHD Display & 128GB ROM

OnePlus’ manager states that one cannot judge the design and build of a smartphone just on the basis of its images. The flat images don’t do justice to the curves and handling of the phone or even the feel of the built quality. He mentioned OnePlus 3T and the criticism it received initially after images of the phone cropped up via TENAA before launch. Fans were quick to call OP3T’s design as ugly and boring. But once they saw and touched the real smartphone, they were impressed with the design.

OnePlus 3T rear

He states that the images that you see of the OnePlus 5 right now don’t portray the quality of the phone or its workmanship. Only after you touch and play around with the phone can you differentiate the curves and the intricate design attributes from other similar looking phones.

As for the dual camera setup protruding from the overall design, he defended it by stating that it was a choice of whether to cut down the camera components (sacrificing quality) or increasing the thickness of the setup. The company decided to go with the former choice and hence the bulge. He added that initially, people called the bulge on the iPhone 7 Plus as ugly, but once they saw the phone, they started praising it.

End of the day, what he urges fans to do is play around with the OnePlus 5, feel its built quality and only then make a judgment about its design.

Well, he might be right about the built and quality of workmanship of the OnePlus 5. In fact, it may even feel a bit different than phones like OPPO R11 and the iPhone 7 Plus. But it doesn’t change the fact that the basic design (especially the way the dual cameras are arranged) is a copy of the iPhone 7 Plus.

Despite the initial impressions of the design based on the images available right now, it’s probably wise to wait for the phone to launch and see its design in reality before we start criticizing it heavily.

So, what are your thoughts about the points made by him?
