OPPO Find X Moniker Trademarked; Could be an Ultimate Flagship Phone

A new 360 Mobiles device with the model number 1807-A01 and believed to the soon-to-be-launched 360 N7 has received certification by China’s 3C. Apart from the certification, a photo of the 360 N7 battery has also leaked online and it is a 4,280mAh cell.

360 Mobiles has a reputation for stuffing big battery on its models so we are not surprised. The 360 N6 Pro packs a 4,050mAh battery and so, this one is slightly bigger.The battery will sure offer enough juice for more than a day’s use. We can’t say for sure if this is indeed the N7’s battery.

The 360 N7 is well positioned as a premium midranger, considering the features that are already out in the open. The N7 is is expected to feature a 5.99-inch full-view display and would be powered by a MediaTek Helio P60 chipset. Just recently, the AnTuTu score of the N7 appeard online showing a score in the realm of Snadragon 660 chipset. A leaked render was also spotted onlne suggesting the device will pack a triple camera setup at the rear but that isn’t likely going to happen. The device is also expected to come with MediaTek’s latest PumpExpress fast charging technology with an 18W charging power. The 3C certification seems to confirm that.

The devicie will be unveiled on May 8 at a ceremony holding in Beijing, China.

Honor 8 Pro Receives New Update That Brings Face Unlock

The Honor 10 may be getting a global launch soon but that doesn’t mean past Honor flagships have been forgotten. The Honor 8 Pro (Honor V9) and Honor 9 were both upgraded to Oreo back in February. The former has also received a new update.

The February update was supposed to bring Face Unlock to the phone but it didn’t. The new update addresses that and also brings some new features.

Apart from the new unlocking mode, there is also a privacy feature for hiding notifications on the lock-screen and March’s security patch included in the update.

The update is about 500MB in size and is said to be rolling out in batches according to the Honor India Twitter page.

Xiaomi Officially Enters UK Market, Partners With Three

While its Chinese counterparts are having issues in North America, Xiaomi has focused on Europe and that seems to have paid off. The manufacturer has officially entered the UK and has partnered with one of the biggest network providers there.

Xiaomi signed a deal with CK Hutchinson Holdings who own Three, the British telecoms and internet service provider. This means those who live in the UK can purchase their Xiaomi devices from the carrier network. Their phones will also be available in other countries like Austria, Sweden, Denmark, Ireland, Italy where the network operator is present.

In an official statement from the provider’s chief digital officer Tom Malleschitz to Engadget, he said “We have been watching Xiaomi’s success from afar and are impressed with the huge range of connected devices that they currently offer. This partnership provides us with another leading brand in our smartphone range and also opens the door for innovative new connected products that we can provide to Three customers in the future. So watch this space!”.

There is no info yet on the phones that will be sold in Europe, but it is reported that other Xiaomi devices will also be sold in A.S. Watson’s retail locations around Europe.

Nokia X Hands-On Video Reveals its Design from All Angles

Nokia X is launching on May 16 and it will be arriving as the first smartphone from HMD Global to feature a notched display. The Finnish firm had recently showcased the Nokia X phone through a 4-day event that ended on May 2 in Beijing, China. However, the company is yet to confirm on its specification and pricing. Several photos of the Nokia X phone had surfaced through the recently held event in China. A hands-on video of the Nokia X that was shot at the event are also available on YouTube.

The hands-on videos do not reveal anything on the specifications of the phone. However, they do confirm the May 16 launch date and Nokia X moniker. The screen of the phone features a small-sized notch like other notch enabled Android phones that have launched so far. The side bezels are slim, and the slightly thick bottom bezel features the Nokia logo.

The rear side of the Nokia X seems to be made out of the glass. The vertical dual camera setup featuring ZEISS optics and LED flash is placed at the center of the top half of the Nokia X. Below the camera module is the fingerprint scanner.

Rumors have revealed that the Nokia X will be arriving with a 5.8-inch display that offers an aspect ratio of 19:9. The base model that is expected to be priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$251) may include HelioP60 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The higher variant that is rumored to feature Snapdragon 636 SoC and 6 GB of RAM may arrive in China with a price tag of 1,799 Yuan (~$283).

Nokia Officially Announces Nokia 6.1 In The US With Android One Inside

The Nokia 6.1 is official in the US and will go on sale from Sunday. Despite the new name, the Nokia 6.1 is basically the Nokia 6 (2018) model that was announced back in January in China. The new model features important upgrades especially in the processor department as compared to the 2017 version, making it a capable mid-ranger under $300.

One of the biggest highlights of the Nokia 6.1 is in the software department. The phone will be running Android One, so the phone won’t ship with any bloatware. As for the design, there are only a few gentle updates. So the fingerprint sensor goes to the back, the size is slimmed down by a few millimetres, and the phone gets orange accents to add a splash of color to its all black design. In the hardware department, the biggest change is in the processor. Nokia has updated the lineup with Snapdragon 630 instead of the low-end SD430 found on the 2017 model. Further, there’s 4GB of RAM and a USB Type-C port. These improvements does increase the price tag of the handset. The new Nokia 6.1 will cost you $269 instead of the $229 launch price of its predecessor. You can purchase the phone from Amazon or Best Buy from Sunday. Xiaomi Redmi S2 to Debut New Redmi S Series on May 10; Could it be the New Selfie Series?

Xiaomi has recently confirmed that it will be holding a launch event on May 10 to announce a new produce. Today, the Chinese firm has officially revealed through its Redmi Mobile Weibo account that it will be launching Redmi S2 phone on May 10. Also, the company has stated the Redmi S2 will be introducing the all new Redmi S series.

OPPO and Vivo have launched numerous selfie-centric smartphones in China in the recent years. There is a possibility that the new Redmi S lineup may include budget-friendly selfie-focused smartphones. The Redmi S2 the first phone to debut under the new Redmi Selfie (Redmi S) series is rumored to feature 16-megapixel LED enabled front-facing camera. It is likely that the phone may include AI capabilities for capturing beautified selfie shots.

The poster shown below shows Chinese actor Liu Haoran holding the forthcoming Redmi S2 phone. The rear design of the phone matches with its photos that had surfaced through its TENAA listing. The handset seems to be featuring a metal unibody chassis. The u-shaped antenna bands can be seen at the top and bottom edges of the back panel. The rear shell features 12-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual cameras at the top-left corner.

There are some conflicting rumors on the configuration front and rear cameras of the Redmi S2. The exact details on the cameras of the phone will be confirmed next week through its launch. The fingerprint scanner is also available on the rear shell of the phone.

The Redmi S2 will be sporting a full screen design as it expected to arrive with an 18:9 aspect ratio supporting screen of 5.99 inches. The LCD display is expected to produce HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The Snapdragon 625 SoC will be powering the 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB models of the Redmi S2. These variants are speculated to respectively feature 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. The handset is expected to receive power from 3,080mAh battery. It will come loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo and the most recent edition of MIUI 9.

The specs of the Redmi S2 suggest that it will be available arriving with an affordable pricing. A recent leak has revealed that the S2 will be available for around $175 in Vietnam. Some rumors claim that this phone could be launched as an Android One device in India.

LG V35 ThinQ’s Design Revealed Through Leaked Renders

It was revealed in the previous month by Android Headlines that apart from the LG G7 ThinQ and the rumored LG V40 smartphones, LG is also working on a phone called LG V35 ThinQ which is codenamed as Emma. Today, the same publication has shared leaked renders of the LG V35 smartphone to reveal its design.

The LG V35 ThinQ renders reveal that it features a tall display that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is speculated that the V35 features a FullVision OLED display of 6 inches. However, it is unlikely to feature P-OLED display that were made available on the LG G6 and LG V30 smartphones in 2017. The Quad HD+ resolution supporting display of V35 ThinQ is expected to offer a screen-to-body ratio of 80 percent.

The rear side of the LG V35 ThinQ features a horizontally arrange dual camera setup. It is expected to feature the same pair of 16-megapixel camera sensors that is available on the LG G7 ThinQ. The V35 ThinQ is rumored to be packed with various AI capabilities for camera.

The V35 ThinQ may also feature 32-bit ESS Sabre 9228 quad DAC and far-field voice recognition like the G7 ThinQ. The backside of the V35 also features a fingerprint reader. The handset will be available in Black and Grey color variants.

In the U.S., AT&T won’t be releasing the new LG G7 ThinQ. The publication claims that the LG V35 ThinQ will be exclusively available through AT&T in the country. AT&T is also mentioned at top-left corner in the display of the LG V35 ThinQ in the first render.

There is no information available on the launch date of the LG V35 ThinQ. However, the handset is supposed to break cover after the recently unveiled LG G7 ThinQ. The LG V35 ThinQ may debut on August 10 as the date is mentioned on its display in the first render. As far as the LG V40 (codenamed as Storm) is concerned, the flagship phone may debut in fall this year. Unlike the AT&T exclusive LG V35 ThinQ, the LG V40 phone is expected to be available through all the carriers in the U.S.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 Variants Also Approved by TENAA

In the previous week, Xiaomi phones with model numbers M1803E6E, M1803E6T and M1803E6C were approval by China’s 3C authority. It is speculated that these could be the network variants of the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi S2 for China. The M1803E6E Redmi S2 was spotted first at TENAA through which its entire specifications were revealed. In the recent past, the M1803E6T and M1803E6C variants of the smartphone have also received certification from TENAA.

Since M1803E6E, M1803E6T and M1803E6C are the variants of the same Redmi S2 phones, they are packed with the same specifications. It measures 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm and weighs 170 grams. The smartphone features a 5.99-inch display that supports HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels.

The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is driven by a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor. Recent reports have revealed that the Snapdragon 625 will be powering the 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB storage editions of the S2. The storage models respectively feature 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. The handset features a microSD card slot for more storage. The S2 is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo. It is likely to feature the latest MIUI 9 skin. For photography, it houses a dual camera setup that includes a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapxiel secondary sensor. A 16-megapixel camera is present at the front for shooting selfies.

Even before its official announcement, the Redmi S2 has been spotted in Mi Store at Prague and one of the tech blogs from Czech Republic had already received a review unit earlier in this week. It is speculated that the Redmi S2 could be arriving as an Android One phone outside of China. Its pricing for Vietnam was also leaked in this week. The Redmi S2 is expected to arrive with VND 3,999,000 (~$175) pricing in Vietnam.

Xiaomi and Suning have confirmed that it will be announcing a new product on May 10. It is speculated that the Chinese manufacturer will be launching the Redmi S2 in the coming week.

The RED Hydrogen One Smartphone Gets Delayed As The Company Plans Improvements

RED, the company known for making top-shelf and expensive camera equipment, has been working on its first smartphone — RED Hydrogen One. The launch of the device has now been delayed and the company announced that they need more time before the smartphone can be launched in the market.

The smartphone was slated to get launched in the first quarter of this year. However, the company is now planning a few improvements for the smartphone, and thus, it needs more time. The company believes that it will be able to start selling the device by August.

As for the improvements, instead of the single camera module, the phone will now come with dual cameras and on the back as well as the front. The camera will also be improved to capture 3D video. The smartphone will also be able to capture 4-View video, enabling users to look around and behind objects that have shot with the camera.

RED has also confirmed that it is preparing to launch the smartphone with the support of multiple network carriers. So, while the company has pushed back the launch date to August, the final release date will be determined by the network carriers.

The company has now stopped taking pre-orders for the RED Hydrogen One smartphone. As of the pricing, the smartphone costs $1,295 for the Aluminum variant, while the Titanium variant is priced at $1,595. However, RED has said that the pre-ordered devices will ship well before launch.

The smartphone is expected to come with a 5.7-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixels screen resolution. Under the hood, it is said to have been powered by the previous-generation Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 835 processor. The device will feature stereo speakers and a dual hybrid SIM slot. It will have the regular 3.5mm audio port as well as the USB Type-C port. The smartphone is expected to be powered by a 4,500mAh battery.

OnePlus 6 TENAA Listing Reveals Full Specifications

OnePlus has already confirmed that it will be debuting the OnePlus 6 smartphone in China on May 17. Smartphones that are launched in China are required to receive from TENAA regulatory body. The “OnePlus A6000” is the model number of the upcoming OnePlus 6 phone. The appearance of OnePlus A6000 at TENAA has revealed its entire specifications.

The TENAA listing usually contains the images of the phone. However, the images of OnePlus 6 are yet to appear at the Chinese telecommunications equipment certifications website. The TENAA listing reveals that the OnePlus 6 features a 6.28-inch AMOLE display that produces FHD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. This suggests because of the notch that it is expected to arrive with, the display will offer an aspect ratio of 19:9. The handset measures 155.7 x 75.35 x 7.75mm and it weighs 179 grams.

The OnePlus A6000 is fueled by a 3,300mAh battery. It is powered by a 2.45 GHz octa-core processor. This could probably be the Snapdragon 845 chipset. At present, the TENAA listing only shows presence of 6 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 256 GB. It is likely that the TENAA listing of OnePlus 6 may get updated with 8 GB RAM listing and other storage options like 128 GB and 256 GB. The handset is pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo. For photography, the OnePlus 6 features a dual camera setup that includes a 20-megapixel primary sensor that is assisted by a 16-megapixel secondary sensor. For snapping selfies, it features a 16-megpaixel front-facing camera.

In the previous month, GizmoChina had exclusively revealed the leaked pricing of the 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB storage variants of the OnePlus 6. These models are expected to be respectively priced at 3,299 Yuan (~$519), 3,799 Yuan (~$598) and 4,399 Yuan (~$693).

OnePlus 6 is also launching in India on May 17. The pricing of the smartphone for Indian markets was also leaked at the end of the previous month. The 64 GB and 128 GB OnePlus 6 variants are expected to release in the country with respective pricing of Rs. 36,999 (~$555) and Rs. 39,999 (`$600). India is also rumored to receive the 256 GB variant, but there is no information available on its pricing.

OnePlus has recently confirmed that it will be holding pop-up events around the world on May 21. The special event will let OnePlus fans to purchase the OnePlus 6 along with some freebies before it is officially released in the market.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 6GB+64GB Variant Discounted After Mi 6X Launch!

Xiaomi recently updated its mid-range smartphones and up came the Mi 6X which is expected to hit the international market as Mi A2. Before the Mi 6X, the tech giant launched the Redmi Note 5 in China just a couple of months back. Even though the Redmi Note 5 is considerably cheap, it is interesting to note that the 6GB+64GB storage version has presently taken a cut and is available for 1489 yuan ($233) on Gome.

The Redmi Note 5 (China) was launched in three memory versions; a 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM, 4GB + 64GB version and the 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM version. The 6GB RAM version was priced at 1,699 yuan (~$268) when it was launched but that is what has taken a price cut right now. The price reduction seems to be a limited offer and so it is likely not going to be permanent. In another light, this price cut may be due to the Mi 6X which is also on sale.

However, this is some interesting news as it indicates that we may soon see the Redmi Note 5 being offered for way less. Even the 4GB RAM version had its price slashed slightly and is now up for 1,259 yuan instead of 1,399 yuan. (~221). Already, the price tag for the 4GB RAM version on GearBest is pretty affordable at $229 while the 3GB RAM version is offered for $199. We hope to see the price come down some more as it is too close to the pricing of the Snapdagon 660-powered Mi 6X.

Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun Pens An Expository Open Letter To Mi Fans

A lenghty letter said to have been written by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has been shared on the MIUI Forum. The letter is more of an expositorylecture on the what Xiaomi stands for and what it strives to achieve going forward. It wasn’t a mistake that the CEO started off by stating that Xiaomi was more than a hardware company after thanking fans for their support and interest in the brand.

Lei Jun stated that the Mi brand was an innovation-driven internet company with smartphones and smart hardware connected by an IoT platform at its core. The company’s goal is to build amazing products with honest prices “to let everyone in the world enjoy a better life through innovative technology”.

The letter contains several details about the company, expecially its innovative products that extend from smartphones to IoT gadgets and numerous smart hardware products. Lei Jun revealed some monstrous figures which include that its IoT platform is presently the world’s largest with over 100 million connected devices. He also disclosed that its MIUI Custom OS also has up to 190 million monthly active users who regularly use the company’s innovative internet services. Huawei P20 Lite and Huawei P20 Pro Goes On Sale In India

Huawei launched two of the three new P20 devices in India last week. The two new devices which are Amazon-exclusive cater to two main categories of the smartphone market and are now on sale.

In what can be considered a smart move, the Chinese company has launched only the P20 Lite and the P20 Pro. The main P20 is missing and that is not much of a surprise. Since the Honor 10 will be launching in India later this month, its launch may affect the sales of the Huawei P20 if that were also available.

The Huawei P20 Lite is priced at Rs. 19,999 ($300). For that amount, you get a 5.84” notched-display with a 1080 x 2280 resolution. There is a Kirin 659 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

The P20 Lite also has a 24MP selfie camera, dual 16MP +2Mp rear cameras, a 3,000mAh battery, and runs EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0.

There are a bunch of bunch of offers from discounts to free data when you purchase the device. Amazon says it has limited units available, so each buyer can only purchase one unit.

For the P20 Pro, Huawei has slammed a Rs. 64,999 (~$975) price tag on it. This is for the 6GB RAM + 128GB version. Other specs include a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 080 x2240 resolution, a kirin 970 SoC, triple Leica rear cameras (40+20+8MP), IP67 rating, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Pentagon Bans Sales of Huawei & ZTE Devices on U.S Military Bases

The Pentagon has ordered all retail outfits within the precinct of the United State military bases to stop selling devices manufactured by either Huawei or ZTE. The reason put forward for this is the same old story that using such devices made by either of the two Chinese manufacturers could pose a security risk.

This is obviously a continuation of the now infamous clampdown of two of China major telecommunications equipment suppliers. The statement by a Pentagon representative sent to The Wall Street Journal states that “Huawei and ZTE devices may pose an unacceptable risk to the department’s personnel, information, and mission. In light of this information, it was not prudent for the department’s exchanges to continue selling them.” The ban, however, does not include the use of Huawei and ZTE equipment in the military bases. Although The Pentagon also added that it is contemplating the option of sending out a military-wide advisory about the perceived dangers of Huawei and ZTE hardware. In addition, military personnel can still obtain and keep devices purchased from other OEMs.

Huawei has responded to the ban in a statement issued to The Verge:

“Huawei’s products are sold in 170 countries worldwide and meet the highest standards of security, privacy, and engineering in every country we operate globally, including the US. We remain committed to openness and transparency in everything we do and want to be clear that no government has ever asked us to compromise the security or integrity of any of our networks or devices.”

An unnamed source told The Wall Street Journal that military leaders are worried that China could use Huawei and ZTE devices to locate soldiers in the field. Both Huawei and ZTE state that no such capability exists.We think so too and the ban is turning out to be one huge joke takn too far. For one, there has been no established evidence to back the suspicions.

Before now, the U.S authorities had issued an advice to citizens against buying Huawei or ZTE smartphone. This resulted in AT&T pulling out of a deal with Huawei to sell its smartphones in the U.S. Online retailer, Best Buy also halted sales of Huawei smartphones on its website. Even with these hurdles, Huawei is still dogged about its entry into the U.S even though it seems to have shifted focus from the market. The Chinese manufacturer’s smartphones, including those under the Honor brand are still being sold in the U.S via Amazon. Too bad that the Huawei P20 Pro which is currently one of the best-reviewed Android phones is not available in the U.S.

Unfortunately, ZTE is in a deeper mess which is unconnected to this issue. The U.S authorities slammed a seven years ban on ZTE for its flagrant violations of Iranian trade bans. The ban means American companies are now banned from selling products, including softwares to the Chinese smartphone manufacturer.

The OnePlus 6 will launch in less than two weeks. Apart from the different RAM/storage/color variants, there will also be a special Avengers edition. It appears someone already has a unit as the photo of the retail box has surfaced online.

OnePlus is sticking to a black box for the OnePlus 6 Avengers edition. This is a similar box to that of the OnePlus 5T Star Wars edition with the main differences being the Avengers logo at the top and the OnePlus 6 branding on the sides.

The image was posted on a Facebook group but was taken down. Fortunately, some people already saved the image.

While there is no leaked image of the phone itself, we have a few guesses as to what it will look like. First, there’s definitely an Avengers logo on the back of the device. We can also expect the device to come with custom wallpapers and themes related to the Avengers. There may also be a custom-case included in the box.
