MediaTek’s Helio G is a smartphone chipset series that powers many budget Android phones. And recently, we got a new entrant in the lineup, the Helio G200.

As you’d naturally expect, the new chip should be noticeably more advanced than its predecessor. Unfortunately, the changes in this generation are hardly worth noting. In fact, the differences across the last three generations of G-series chips—Helio G99, G100, and G200—have been… restrained.

At a glance, all three chips share a nearly identical spec sheet: 4G-only modems, octa-core CPUs, Mali-G57 GPUs, and support for high refresh rate 120Hz displays. And since the core architecture remains the same, there’s no significant performance leap from one generation to the next. Let’s break it down in detail below.

Helio G99

When MediaTek introduced the Helio G99, it framed the chip as a meaningful upgrade for 4G devices. That was in a market already leaning heavily into 5G, but MediaTek still saw an opportunity. 

The G99 brought some useful improvements over its predecessor, like support for 108MP cameras, high refresh rate displays up to 120Hz, and what MediaTek calls “Intelligent Display Sync” to dynamically control refresh rates for power efficiency.

Its CPU design was also practical for the time: two Arm Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. Paired with LPDDR4X RAM support and UFS 2.2 storage, the G99 performed well for its class. It also shipped with MediaTek’s HyperEngine 2.0 Lite, which optimized CPU, GPU, and memory usage in gaming scenarios. But this was more an act of rebranding existing efficiencies than a leap forward in gaming tech.

Networking was also stuck in 4G territory, with dual 4G VoLTE and Cat-13 LTE. While decent for regions with limited 5G rollout, it didn’t feel future-proof. Still, G99 was stable, efficient, and affordable, the sort of chip that made sense in a $150 to $200 phone.

Helio G100

With the G100, MediaTek stuck to the same architecture. Identical CPU configuration, same Mali-G57 GPU, same memory and storage support. In fact, most of the internal specs are a copy-paste from the G99. 

The biggest change, at least on paper, came from a switch to TSMC’s 6nm process. That move alone gave MediaTek a talking point in the form of better power efficiency. And it surely makes a difference. 

Elsewhere, the G100’s main upgrade came via the camera pipeline. The maximum sensor resolution jumped to 200MP, though manufacturers hardly took advantage of it. The chip retained a 3X ISP and support for ZSL (Zero Shutter Lag) dual-camera setups, plus the same bokeh, EIS, and AI processing features as the G99.

It also has HyperEngine gaming support, which is again a continuation of the same features. Dynamic antenna switching, call/data concurrency, and CPU-GPU-memory balancing were also carried forward. In essence, the G100 was a G99 on a more efficient process node, with better camera support baked in.

Helio G200

That brings us to the latest member of the lineup: Helio G200. At first glance, nothing really jumps out. The CPU layout is still two Cortex-A76 and six Cortex-A55, and the clock speed remains identical at 2.2GHz and 2.0GHz, respectively.

There’s no change in terms of RAM and storage as well. And even the 2520×1080 resolution cap and 120Hz display support stay exactly where they were.

MediaTek is making a talking point through incremental tuning and GPU overclocking. The Mali-G57 GPU here now runs up to 1.1GHz, and the company is quoting 75% faster GPU performance over some “competitor platforms” and a 50% increase in app launch speed for social apps. 

There’s also a new 12-bit DCG (dual conversion gain) pipeline for better HDR video capture, and continued 200MP camera support.

Moreover, MediaTek claims up to 30% better power efficiency in gaming, thanks to HyperEngine refinements and continued use of the 6nm process. One of the few new additions is 4G DC SAR technology that should improve connectivity in fringe areas and reduce latency during social and messaging app usage.

But these changes don’t fundamentally alter the nature of the chip. At its core, the G200 remains a 4G-only chipset with largely unchanged hardware. It’s a third iteration on the same idea, just a little more refined. 

Three Generations, One Blueprint

Stacked side-by-side, the Helio G99, G100, and G200 could easily be mistaken for the same chip. All share the same CPU architecture, same memory and storage capabilities, same networking features, and nearly identical display and camera pipelines. The differences mostly lie in secondary optimizations:

So what exactly is evolving? Technically, the GPU has been tuned, the camera ISP supports higher bit depth, and the networking stack is a bit more intelligent in fringe coverage areas. But the performance ceiling is still largely dictated by the same aging CPU layout. The Cortex-A76, first launched in 2018, is nearing seven years of service. It was a solid core in its day, but in 2025, it’s mostly cruising on nostalgia.

What’s missing?

One conspicuous omission across all three chips is 5G, and it’s a major one. It was understandable for the Helio G99 to support only 4G. But now that 5G has gained significant traction in countries like India, where the Helio G-series powers many phones, MediaTek really should have upgraded the network support in this generation.

The company could also have refreshed its core architecture by adopting a more recent ARM design like the Cortex-A78. It would offer better performance, which aligns better with current user demands and the increasingly power-hungry nature of apps in 2025. But the improvements we’re seeing in the Helio G series seem more about keeping pace than setting it.

Teclast has announced a new 11-inch tablet powered by the MediaTek Hello G99 processor. Teclast offered a sneak peek of the new tablet via a teaser. The model has 8GB of RAM which is expandable to 20GB and 256GB of optional storage.

The MediaTek Helio G99 chipset has an 8-core architecture with an ultimate frequency of 2.2GHz. it features the Cortex-A76 and Cortex -A55 delivering top notch performance. Additionally, the processor is manufactured through the 6nm process and achieves efficient heat reduction. Additionally, the Helio G99 scored above 400,000 on the Antutu benchmark. Earlier in April, Teclast had unveiled the T65 Max tablet running on the Helio G99 SoC.

The new tablet has an 11-inch screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The adaptive refresh rate of the screen allows the tablet to adapt to different output scenarios. Furthermore, the tablet supports T-Colour 4.0 color optimization technology. The tablet delivers a richer and more vivid color experience while watching videos. The tablet has a maximum brightness of 400 nits and the device comes with TUV Rheinland Blue Light Certification.

The tablet supports AI noise reduction and AI intelligent assistant. It uses dual microphones for physical noise reduction. It offers improvements to the sound quality and enhanced clarity during voice calls. The name, appearance design, and full specs sheet of the 11-inch tablet are not yet known. The outstanding optics of the new Teclast tablet will be revealed subsequently.

Last week, Tecno unveiled the Pova 5 and Pova 5 Pro in India. The Pova 5 Pro is Tecno’s first phone with a rear-facing Arc interface. It consists of three LED light strips that converge on each other to form a triangle. The Arc interface can glow for notifications, charging, gaming, and more. Here is a look at the price and specifications of both smartphones.

Tecno Pova 5, Pova 5 Pro price in India

The Pova 5, which comes with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, is priced at Rs 11,999 (~$145). On the other hand, the Pova 5 Pro comes in two options, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. These are priced at Rs 14,999 (~$180) and Rs 15,999 (~$193), respectively.

Both phones will be available for purchase through Amazon starting Aug. 22. The Pova 5 comes in three shades: Mecha Black, Amber Gold, and Hurricane Blue. On the other hand, the Pova 5 Pro can be bought in colors like Dark Illusion and Fantasy Silver. 

Tecno Pova 5, Pova 5 Pro specifications and features

The Pova 5 has a 6.78-inch IPS LCD Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is a 4G LTE phone that comes equipped with a Helio G99 chipset and has a 6,000mAh battery with 45W fast charging. The Pova 5 Pro has the same display, but it is a 5G-ready phone that is powered by the Dimensity 6080 chipset and has a 6,000mAh battery with 68W fast charging.

Both phones have 8GB of RAM, 8GB of virtual RAM, and 128GB or 256GB of storage. They also have a microSD card slot for expandable storage.

On the back, the Pova 5 has a dual-camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera and an AI lens, with dual-LED flash. The Pova 5 Pro has a triple-camera system consisting of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel camera, and an AI lens, with dual-LED flash. For selfies, the Pova 5 has an 8-megapixel snapper, while the Pro version is equipped with a 13-megapixel front camera.

The Pova 5 and Pova 5 Pro are equipped with a VC liquid cooling system for heat dissipation. Other common features of the Pova 5 series include a side-facing fingerprint scanner, face unlock, dual SIM, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a z-axis linear motor. While Pova 5 Pro features the Arc interface, it is unavailable on the Pova 5.

Two years after debuting its first tablet called the Realme Pad, the brand is gearing up to launch a sequel, dubbed the Realme Pad 2. The tablet has already emerged on the FCC database and has also cleared BIS certification. Now, a new report has emerged leaking renders and specifications of the Realme Pad 2.

According to a now-deleted report from Detectors, the design of the upcoming Realme Pad 2 has been revealed. The tablet seems to feature a two-tone metallic back design, similar to its predecessor. The circular camera island holds two cutouts, of which one is the camera and the other is the flash module. The sides of the tablet have a flat profile and the top and bottom sections house speaker grilles. The power button is reportedly located on the top, while the USB-C port is positioned at the bottom. On the front, the Realme Pad 2 boasts slim bezels and places the front camera in the center at the top when held in landscape orientation.

Coming to the specifications, the report mentions that the tablet features an 11″ display with FHD+ resolution and a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC. As mentioned in the FCC document, the tablet will have an 8360mAh battery, accompanied by 33W fast charging tech. It looks like the brand will be offering the tablet with up to 8GR RAM and 128GB storage configuration and an Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0 operating system.

The Infinix Note 30 is expected to launch soon. The reason behind it is that it has appeared in the database of the Google Play Console. As usual, the listing has revealed the key specifications and an image of the device. Here is all that it is known about the device.

The Google Play Console listing reveals that the Infinix Note 30’s display will support a resolution of 1080 x 2460 pixels with a 20.5:9 aspect ratio. The image of the phone available in the listing suggests that it has a punch-hole display.

It further reveals that the device is equipped with the Helio G99 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. It will come preinstalled with the Android 13 OS, which will be overlaid with the company’s XOS UI. The other details of the smartphone are yet to be revealed.

The Infinix Note 30, which has the model number X6833B, will replace the Infinix Note 12 (2023), which debuted in October. It came with a 6.71-inch AMOLED display that offered Full HD+ resolution and was powered by the Helio G99 chipset. The device offered 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of storage. It came preloaded with Android 12 OS and XOS 10.6.

The Note 12 featured a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. Its back panel featured a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and an LED flash. It housed a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. For security, it featured a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

The Infinix Note 30 lineup is likely to feature multiple models. One of them will be the Infinix Note 30 VIP (model number X6710), which was spotted at the Bluetooth SIG last month. So far, reports have revealed that the VIP device will come with Bluetooth 5.3, a 5,000mAh battery, and 68W fast charging support.

Vivo will announce the Vivo V27e, Vivo V27, and Vivo V27 Pro on March 1 for the global market. The entire specification of the V27e appeared yesterday, which revealed that it will be a solid mid-range phone. Now, Pricebaba has published a couple of images of the V27e in a new report.

In the hands-on image below, the Vivo V27e can be seen in the attractive Lavender Purple color. While it does not appear to have a color-shfiting back panel like the Vivo V27 and V27 Pro, the feathery design that exhibits shades of blue, purple, and white makes it appear all the more irresistible.

The Glory Black is the other color variant of the V27e, which can be seen in the press renders below. The handset is already up for pre-order in Malaysia through offline channels. Vivo V27e specifications

Reports have revealed that the Vivo V27e will measure 162.51 x 75.81 x 7.7 / 7.8mm and weigh 185 / 186 grams. It will feature a 6.62-inch E4 AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display and run on FunTouch OS 13-based on Android 13 OS. The screen will be integrated with a fingerprint sensor.

The V27e will have a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. The back panel of the device will feature a 64-megapixel main camera with OIS support. It will be paired with a 2-megapixel depth camera, a 2-megapixel macro snapper, and a triple LED flash. It will pack a 4,600mAh battery with 66W fast charging support.

The V27e will be powered by the Helio G99 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. It also has a water-resistant body with an IP54 rating, a hybrid microSD card slot, 8 GB of RAM, and up to 8 GB of additional RAM. At present, there is no word on the price of the device.

Oppo‘s upcoming Reno 8T 4G smartphone has been leaked quite extensively, with both images, and specs surfacing online in recent reports. The official launch date is yet to be unveiled by the company, however, rumors suggest that it could be available from February 6th in India.

Ahead of the launch, popular tipster Paras Guglani has shared new live images in a report revealing the front panel of the device, while also confirming some specifications.

Starting with the design, we can see that the Reno 8T 4G will come with symmetrical bezels on three sides, while the chin will be a bit thicker. The front camera will be placed in the top left corner in a punch-hole style.

The image also displays the specifications of the device confirming that it will indeed come with a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC for the global market. The operating system will be Android 13-based ColorOS 13. The physical RAM present in the device is 8GB with an option of virtually extending by another 4GB. As for storage, the device has 256GB ROM.

The screen of the smartphone measures 6.43 inches, which we can assume is an FHD+ AMOLED panel. Going by previous leaks, it should have 90Hz refresh rate, a 120Hz touch sampling rate, 600nits peak brightness, and a 409 PPI pixel density. There will also be an in-display fingerprint sensor onboard.

The image also confirms the presence of a 108MP primary camera, aided by a couple of 2MP units. The front on the other hand will feature a 32MP selfie snapper. Last but not the least, all the hardware will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery unit, rumored to support up to 33W of fast charging.

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy A23 5G in August last year for the global market. It was made official in the previous market. A couple of reports have revealed that the company is already working on the Galaxy A24 series. In a new report, TheTechOutlook has leaked the renders of the device.

Shown below is the black variant of the Galaxy A24 5G. The front side of the device features a waterdrop notch display, which seems to be integrated with a fingerprint scanner. A SIM slot is seen on its left side, whereas its right has a volume rocker and a power key.

The back panel of the device has three protruding camera rings with an LED flash. Apart from black, it will also arrive in other shades, such as dark red, light green, and silver. Users can visit the source link for the 360-degree renders of the Galaxy A24.

Like the Galaxy A23 series, the Galaxy A24 may arrive in 4G and 5G editions. The leaked renders seem to belong to the 4G version of the device. It may arrive with a 6.4-inch AMOLED FHD+ display, a Helio G99 chipset, and 4 GB of RAM. The handset will come preinstalled with the Android 13 OS with One UI on top.

The Galaxy A24 may feature a 50-megapixel (main) + 5-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit, and an 8-megapixel or a 13-megapixel selfie camera. It may pack a 5,000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. There is no word on the launch date of the A24. Hopefully, the upcoming reports will reveal more details about the device.

Oppo has started teasing the arrival of the Oppo Reno 8T 4G and Reno 8T 5G in the Indonesia market. The landing pages for both phones can be found on multiple online retailer sites in Indonesia. As per a tweet by well-known tipster Mukul Sharma, the Reno 8T series will also release in India. 

Sharma did not specifically mention whether the Reno 8T 4G and Reno 8T will both debut in India. The tipster revealed that the Reno 8T series for India will have key features, such as 3D curved design, 108-megapixel main camera, a micro lens, 67W fast changing, 8 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. 

It appears that the tipster has mentioned the key specs of both smartphones. Hence, it appears that both phones may arrive in the Indian market. He added that series will be priced between Rs 27,000 and Rs 29,000. 

The Reno 8T 4G reports have revealed that it may arrive with a 6.43-inch AMOLED that offers an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it may feature the Helio G99 chipset and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. For photography, it will a 32-megapixel front camera, and a 108-megapixel (main) + 2-megapixel (micro lens) + 2-megapixel triple camera unit and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Reno 8T 5G could be a tweaked version of the Oppo A1 Pro 5G available in the Chinese market. Hence it may feature a 6.7-inch curved-edge AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz screen. The Snapdragon 695 chip may power the device with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 67W fast charging. It may feature a 16-megapixel selfie camera and a 108-megapixel (main) = 2-megapixel (depth) dual-camera system.

Both phones may feature an under-display fingerprint scanner and run on ColorOS 13-based Android 13 OS.

Oppo is expected to launch the Reno 8T 4G and Reno 8T 5G in the global market later this month. Reports have revealed that the 5G variant could be a rebranded version of the OPPO A1 Pro 5G, which is exclusively available in China. Several tipsters have shared the renders of the Reno 8T 4G, which show the device sporting a punch-hole display and a leather back. Tipster Snoopy Techhas shared the specs sheet of the Reno 8T 4G. The leaked specs suggest that it may get rebadged as the OPPO F23 series phone in India.

OPPO Reno 8T specifications (rumored)

The Reno 8T will arrive with a 6.43-inch AMOLED panel with a corner punch-hole. It will offer an FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, an under-screen fingerprint reader, and a visual protection feature.

Coming to the cameras, the Reno 8T will have a 32-megapixel snapper for shooting selfies and video calls. One of the USPs of the device is that it has a 100-megapixel camera. It is assisted by a 2-megapixel micro lens, which was seen on devices like the Find X3 Pro and the OPPO F21 series. Lastly, a 2-megapixel black/white mono lens will round out the triple camera setup of the 8T.

As per the Geekbench listing of the Reno 8T, the device will arrive with an Helio G99 chipset by MediaTek and 8 GB of RAM. The device may offer 128 GB of internal storage and run on Android 13 OS with ColorOS 13 on top. The 5,000mAh battery of the device will support 33W charging. A 33W SuperVOOC charger will be included in its retail package. As can be seen in the image above, the Reno 8T will arrive in black and orange shades.

Shown above is a Reno 8T launch invitation poster shared by tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, which indicates it won’t take too long for it to break cover. Features like a leather back, a corner punch-hole display, and a micro lens are also available on the F21 Pro. Hence, it is likely that the device may release as the Oppo F23 or F23 Pro in the Indian market. Rumors have it that the F23 series will break cover in March.

Reports have revealed that Oppo is working on the Reno 8T 4G and Reno 8T 5G. Reliable tipster Evan Blass has shared the leaked renders of what appears to be the 4G version of the Reno 8T. Here is the first look at the phone’s design.

The Reno 8T renders show that its display has a corner punch-hole and a large bottom bezel. The rear shell of the device seems to have a leather finish. The first camera ring on the back houses the primary camera. The second one has two auxiliary cameras and an LED flash. The imprinted text that can be seen below the camera module reads “AI Portrait Camera, Ultra Clear Lens.”

Tipster Snoopy Tech shared a few more renders of the Reno 8T 4G to additional details about it. Its top edge has a microphone, whereas its bottom edge has a 3.5mm audio jack, another microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille. The earpiece available on the top bezel of the device may function as a speaker for stereo output.

A SIM slot and volume buttons can be seen on the left side of the device. The power button located on the right edge does not seem to be integrated with a fingerprint scanner. This indicates that the device could feature an OLED panel with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. While the tipster revealed that the Reno 8T is heading towards the European market, he did not share any information on its specs.

So far, reports have revealed that the Oppo Reno 8T 4G will feature an Helio G99 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. It will run on Android 12 OS and support 33W fast charging. The handset is expected to debut by the last week of this month. The Reno 8T 5G, which is said to be a rebranded version of the China-exclusive Oppo A1 Pro 5G, is also expected to debut soon.

Infinix Zero Ultra, Zero 20 price in India

The Infinix Zero Ultra 5G is priced at Rs 29,999 (~$363). It comes in a sole 8 GB + 256 GB storage. It is available in colors like Coslight Silver and Genesis Noir.

The Zero 20 is priced at Rs 15,999 (~$194). The 4G LTE phone comes in single edition that offers 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It can be bought in Space Gray, Glitter Gold, and Green Fantasy.

Infinix Zero Ultra, Zero 20 specifications and features

The Infinix Zero Ultra has a 6.8-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display with curved edges. The Dimensity 920-powered comes with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It has a 4,500mAh battery with 180W charging support. It is fitted with a 32-megapixel front camera and a 200-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 13-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel triple camera unit. For security, it has an under-display fingerprint scanner.

The Infinix Zero 20 has a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ 90Hz display. The Helio 99 chip powers the phone with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It has a 4,500mAh battery with 45W charging support. For selfies, it has an autofocus-enabled 60-megapixel front camera with OIS support. A 108-megapixel (main) + 13-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel triple camera system is located on its back. It has a side-facing fingerprint scanner. Both phones come preinstalled with Android 12 OS, which is overlaid with Infinix’s XOS UI.

We have already reviewed the Tecno Pova 4 Pro, and we liked it! Now, it’s time we review the Tecno Pova 4, which went official recently in India. It is an attractive phone with a unique rear design that provides superior performance at a low price of Rs 11,999(~$145). Like its predecessors, it packs a big display and a large battery. To top it off, the Pova 4 features a 50-megapixel dual-camera system. Here is our review of the Pova 4.

Design and Display

Tecno sent us the Cryolite Blue edition of the Pova 4 for review. The polycarbonate back of the device has a matte yet glittery finish, which appears black and blue depending on the reflection of light. But the top left corner of the back of the phone, where the dual-camera system and dual-LED flash are, has a glossy finish that easily attracts fingerprint marks. Overall, the device looks sleek and feels good enough for its cost.

The topside of the Pova 4 is barren, which means there is no secondary microphone onboard, while the opposite side has a 3.5mm headphone jack, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille. The other speaker is lodged in the earpiece on the top bezel of the device. The left spine of the phone has a SIM card tray, which offers a dedicated slot for a microSD card. The device comes equipped with an IPX2-rated chassis, which provides protection against water splashes.

The Pova 4 features a massive 6.82-inch LCD display. The screen is bright and offers a tall aspect ratio of 20.5:9, but there should have been support for Full HD+ resolution on the device. The chin is not too thick and does not feel obtrusive. The centred punch-hole display design allows the phone to support a high screen-to-body ratio.

The support for 90Hz refresh makes the overall experience smooth on the Pova 4. Since it supports Widevine L1, users can stream OTT content in HD. However, there is no support for HDR on YouTube. The color reproduction is good, but there is no option to change the color profile in Settings.

Performance and Battery Life

The 6nm Helio G99, which is the most powerful Helio-branded chipset available on the market, powers the Tecno Pova 4. Since it is not a Dimensity chip, there is no support for 5G connectivity on the device. The gaming-friendly chip is accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and a massive UFS 2.2 storage capacity of 128 GB. In addition, the phone supports up to 5 GB of virtual RAM.

The Tecno Pova 4 and Infinix Hot 12 Pro (debuted in August 2022) are the only phones under the Rs 12,000 (~$145) price segment to offer 8 GB of RAM, but the Infinix phone has an inferior Unisoc chip and a smaller battery onboard. Coming back to the Pova 4, it offers unmatched performance in its price segment.

The Pova 4 has a 6,000mAh battery with 18W charging via the USB-C port. It took around 2:15 minutes to fully charge the device. To recall, the Pova 3 had a bigger 7,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. However, despite packing a better charger, it took longer to achieve a full charge on the Pova 3. The Pova 4 is capable of lasting up to 3 days with normal usage. In addition, it can be used as a powerbank to charge accessories like earbuds through its 10W reverse charging feature.

I tried Garena Free Fire Max on the Pova 4 in Smooth+Ultra graphics setting. I also played Shadow Fight 4 on the device. With a big battery and a good chipset onboard, the Pova 4 impresses in the gaming department. It is equipped with a heat dissipation unit with a surface area of 10718 mm2. The device became moderately warm after playing for over an hour. Here is how it performs on benchmark apps.

The Pova 4 comes preinstalled with Android 12 OS and HiOS 12.0. There are several preloaded apps on the phone that you may want to uninstall or disable. Otherwise, the HiOS 12 is filled with handy features like call recording without letting the recipient know, dual apps, multi-window support, WhatsApp call recording, and more.

Photography and Other Features

The Tecno Pova 4 has a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 primary camera with an f/1.6 aperture and PDAF. It has an AI lens and a dual-LED flash. The default camera app shoots using the AI Cam feature, which manages to recognize scenes correctly. Because of the 4-in-1 pixel binning technology, the Pova 4 captures images in 12.5-megapixel resolution by default. There is a dedicated 50MP mode for shooting 50-megapixel resolution photos.

As expected, the Pova 4 manages to capture decent daylight photos. Colors appear rich, and noise is well-controlled. The results are softened when images are shot indoors. In low-light conditions, users can rely on the Super Night Mode, to add some level of detail to images. However, sometimes users may have to capture multiple shots to get the right one.

Both the front and rear cameras can capture up to 2K videos at 30fps. The Ultra Steady feature reduces jerks when shooting 30fps FHD videos. It also supports 240fps slow-motion video shooting. For shooting videos with the front and rear cameras, there are bokeh and beauty modes. In both modes, the front and rear cameras shoot 720p videos at 30fps.

Some of the photography modes on the Pova 4 are Google Lens, Short Video, Video, Beauty, Portrait, Super Night, Pro mode, Panorama, AR Shot, Documents Scanner, Timelapse Video (30 fps in 2K), and Slow Motion Videos (up to 240 fps). Apart from these, it offers other features like HDR mode, 50MP mode, and filters. On the front, the Pova 4 has an 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash for bright shots / videos in low light. Selfies taken in normal or portrait mode are good. The level of edge detection in portrait shots is also passable. The overall performance of the Pova’s 4 rear cameras is quite good.

The dual speakers work fine and are loud enough. A surprise inclusion on the device is support for NFC connectivity for contactless payments, which is rarely found on such a reasonably priced phone.

Verdict

The Xiaomi Redmi 11 Prime 4G and POCO M5, which pack almost identical specs, are the two major competitors for the Pova 4. While the competitors offer Full HD+ resolution on a smaller 6.58-inch display, the Pova 4 packs a larger 6.82-inch screen with HD+ resolution. All three phones are available at the same price and feature the same Helio G99 chip, but the rivalling phones have less RAM, storage, and battery when compared to the Pova 4. Hence, investing in Pova 4 is not at all a bad decision. I can say that the Pova 4 can live up to the expectations set by its predecessor.

The Pova 4 has a 6.82-inch IPS LCD screen with a punch-hole design. It offers an HD+ resolution, a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, and a 90Hz refresh rate. The device runs on Android 12 OS, which is overlaid with HiOS 12.0. It can run HD content over OTT platforms since it comes with Widevine L1 support.

The Helio G99 is powered by the Tecno Pova 4 chipset. The device offers 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It has a microSD card slot for additional storage. The 6,000mAh battery of the device supports 18W charging and 10W reverse wireless charging.

On the front, it has an 8-megapixel selfie camera with an LED flash. On the back, it has a 50-megapixel primary camera, an AI lens, and a dual-LED flash. It offers other features like a side-facing fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm audio jack, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, and dual 4G VoLTE.

Many OEMs have been launching new handheld gaming consoles in the market. These include Windows devices like OneXPlayer Mini Pro along with Android-based machines such as the Retroid Pocket 3+ and the Anbernic RG505. The KT Pocket’s KT R1 is a new device that fits in the latter classification as it comes with an Android-based operating system.

The brand has finally made the console available for purchase. The KT-R1 is orderable from KT Pocket’s website with a starting price of US$169 for the 4GB of RAM and 64GB configuration. This version has a plastic shell. The more expensive 8GB RAM and 256GB storage version has a US$279 price tag and comes with a metal shell. It is worth noting that both models offer support for expandable storage.

The KT-R1 console is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99, which is a 6 nm chipset with two ARM Cortex-A76 CPU cores, six Cortex-A55 CPU cores, and a Mali-G57 MP2 GPU. The SoC should be powerful enough to emulate PlayStation 2 games in theory, though the KT-3:2 R1’s display is better suited for Game Boy Advance titles.

The KT-R1 also has a 5,000 mAh battery that, according to KT Pocket, should last 6-10 hours between charges, depending on the games played on its 4.5-inch, 1,620 x 1,080-pixel display. In October, Tecno unveiled the Pova 4 and the Pova 4 Pro in Bangladesh. Today, the company unveiled the Pova 4 in India. Like its predecessors, the new Pova smartphone features a massive LCD panel, a big battery, and 50-megapixel dual cameras.

Tecno Pova 4 specifications and features

The Tecno Pova 4 houses a 6.82-inch IPS LCD panel with a centrally positioned punch-hole. The screen offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels, a 20.5:9 aspect ratio, a 180Hz touch sampling rate, a 90 percent screen-to-body ratio, and Widevine L1 support.  On the front, it has an 8-megapixel selfie camera, which is assisted by an LED flash.

The rear camera setup of the Tecno Pova 4 has a 50-megapixel primary camera, an AI lens, and a dual-LED flash unit. The device boots to HiOS 12.0 based on Android 12 OS. For security, it has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Pova 4 is powered by the Helio G99 chipset. It offers 8 GB of RAM, 5 GB of virtual RAM, and 128GB of uMCP internal storage. For additional storage, it has a dedicated microSD card slot.

The Pova 4 draws power from a 6,000mAh battery that supports 18W charging via USB-C. It also supports 10W reverse wireless charging. Realme 10 launch seems imminent. Several reports have claimed that it will be arriving to the global market by early November. As per a tweet by tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Realme 10 series will debut on Nov. 9 in the global market. He added that the first sale will be held on Nov. 11. Ahead of the expected launch, a couple of live shots of the Realme 10 4G have started doing the rounds on social media platforms. Here is a look at what appears to be the actual Realme 10 4G.

The images give a good look at the front and rear design of the Realme 10 4G. It has a display with a punch-hole in the upper left corner on the front. The live shots reveal that the Realme 10 is equipped with the Helio G99 chipset and runs on Realme UI 3.0. The handset can be seen in white and black colors, which are likely to be marketed as the Clash White and Rush Black.

The variant that can be seen in the live shot has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.  The device measures 159.9 x 73.3 x 7.95mm and weighs around 178 grams. The RMX3630 model number, which was seen on certification platforms, can also be seen in the new images. Other reports have claimed that the device has a 6.4-inch FHD+ display, a 16-megapixel front camera, and a 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual-camera setup on the back.

Realme 10 Pro+ 5G and Realme 10 are expected to launch soon in India. A recent leak revealed the configurations and color variants of both smartphones for the Indian market. In a recent tweet, tipster Paras Guglani gave away the most important details about the phone.

Citing Russian retailer listings as the source, the tipster claimed that the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G will come equipped with an AMOLED panel that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. It will be powered by the Dimensity 1080 chipset and 8 GB / 12 GB of RAM.

The device will come equipped with an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel main camera. It will carry support for 67W fast charging. For heat dissipation, it will come equipped with a liquid cooling system.

The CQC certification of the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G revealed that it will arrive with a 5,000mAh battery. It is speculated to arrive in three configurations, such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage.  It will come in shades like Hyperspace, Dark Matter, and Nebula Blue.

Shown above is a poster (via) that is now doing the rounds on social media platforms. While it showcases the design of the Realme 10 and the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G, its authenticity could not be confirmed. The poster also mentions the key specifications of both smartphones.

Guglani claimed that the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G would debut globally by early November. It will arrive in India by mid or late November. The Realme 10 is expected to launch simultaneously in global markets and in India. It is expected to arrive with key specifications, such as a 120Hz LCD display, Helio G99, 64-megapixel triple rear cameras, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. It will be available in two configurations: 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It is likely to arrive in Clash White and Rush Black hues.

The device comes with a 50MP rear camera, which is assisted by an AI sensor and dual-LED flash. On the front, it sports an 8MP shooter and a single-LED flash.

On the connectivity front, the handset provides support for dual SIM, 4G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth, GNSS, NFC, and USB Type-C. It also arrives with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a z-axis linear vibration motor, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and Hi-Res Audio-certified dual stereo speakers with DTS Sound support.

The smartphone draws its power from a 6,000mAh battery. It carries support for 45W wired fast charging and 10W reverse wired charging.

Last but not least, the Tecno Pova 4 Pro is offered in two colors (blue and grey) and it measures 164.79 x 77 x 9.19mm in dimensions.

The Tecno Pova 4 Pro is priced at BDT 26,990 ($259) in Bangladesh. It is being only sold in blue color option in the country.

The Pova 4 is expected to house a massive 6.82-inch LCD panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It will have an 8-megapixel camera with an LED flash. The rear-facing dual-camera setup has a 50-megapixel primary camera.

The Helio G99 chipset will be present under the hood of the Pova 4. It will arrive with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB / 256 GB of internal storage. The handset will pack a 6,000mAh battery, which will be a downgrade considering the Pova 3 housed a 7,000mAh battery. The Pova 4 will support 18W charging.

Tecno Pova 4 Pro specifications (rumored)

According to Guglani, the Pova 4 Pro will have a 6.6-inch AMOLED FHD+ 90Hz display and carry support for 45W fast charging. It appears that the rest of the specs of the Pro model will be identical to the vanilla variant.

The Pova 4 series is expected to launch by late October in India. The predecessor, Pova 3, was priced at Rs 11,499 (~$141) at launch in India. Hence, it is likely that the Pova 4 may carry a similar price. The Pova 4 series is scheduled to launch on Oct. 6 in Bangladesh.

Last week, the Tecno Pova Neo 2 5G made its global debut with a Russian launch. Now, new reports have surfaced indicating that the Tecno Pova 4 could launch soon in India.

A NewzOnly report citing tipster Paras Guglani has revealed some key aspects of the upcoming device, including its design, color options, and specifications. So, let’s take a look.

Design-wise, the Pova 4 shares many similarities with the Pova Neo 2. It has the same camera island design and dual camera placement as the aforementioned device. It also features flat edges rounded around the rear to make holding the phone more comfortable. According to the poster, the Pova 4 will debut in the colors Blue, and Grey. The latter has top orange accents for a dual-tone appearance.

Coming to the specifications part, the device will reportedly feature a 6.82-inch HD+ display on the front with a 90Hz refresh rate and a centered punch-hole. The chipset will likely be the MediaTek Helio G99, paired with up to 8GB of RAM (additional 5GB virtual RAM option) and 256GB storage. On the software front, the device will come with Android 12-based HiOS 8.6 and will include Panther Engine 2.0, with Game Space 2.0 for the gaming performance boost.

For optics, the phone will feature a 50MP primary camera accompanied by a 2MP depth/macro sensor. Front camera details are not available yet. The phone will offer a large battery with a 6000mAh capacity and support 18W fast charging.

The tipster has claimed that the device will debut in India around Diwali. So, we can expect it to launch sometime in the month of October.

Motorola is all set to announce the Moto G72 in India on Oct. 3. Once announced, it will be available for purchase through Flipkart. Some of the key features of the G72 include a 120Hz AMOLED display, 108-megapixel triple rear cameras, and the latest Helio G-series chipset.  In a new leak, 91mobiles and the well-known tipster Evan Blass worked together to reveal the Moto G72’s full specs and new renders before its official announcement.

The G72 will also offer other features such as Dolby Atmos and an IP52-rated water-repellent chassis.

The unannounced G72 was recently spotted on a Polish retailer site with a PLN 1,499 (~$302; ~Rs 24,713) price. It appears that the phone will be available in at least white and black color options.

The Redmi Pad will arrive with a 10.61-inch LCD panel that produces a resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz. The screen supports up to 400 nits of brightness, a contrast ratio of 1500:1, and 10-bit colors.

Under the hood, the Redmi Pad will be equipped with the Helio G99 chipset. The SoC will be paired with 3 GB / 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB / 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It will house an 8,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support.

The Redmi Pad will feature an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus support. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel camera with a 105-degree FOV. It will be equipped with the FocusFrame feature, which offers a wider field of view to accommodate more people in a single frame.

The tablet will offer other features such as Android 12 OS with MIUI’s tablet version and Dolby Atmos certified quad speakers. It will have a thickness of 7 mm and weigh around 445 grams.

After teasing for days, Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi 11 Prime and Redmi 11 Prime 5G in India. The two smartphones were announced alongside the Redmi A1. These three handsets are part of Xiaomi’s Special Diwali With Mi Launches. Let’s take a look at the former two phones in this article. Redmi 11 Prime Series Specifications

The Redmi 11 Prime series consists of two models, namely Redmi 11 Prime and Redmi 11 Prime 5G. As the names suggest, the first one is limited to 4G, whereas the second one offers support for 5G.

The Redmi 11 Prime is the same as the recently launched Poco M5 with a different rear design. On the other hand, the Redmi 11 Prime 5G is a rebranded Redmi Note 11E from China, which also goes by Redmi 10 5G in Southeast Asia.

Talking about specifications, both smartphones flaunt a 6.58-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2408 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), a 90Hz refresh rate, and a dewdrop notch.  They also boot the same MIUI 13 software based on Android 12.

Further, they sport a 50MP main camera, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 5MP selfie camera. The 4G model has an additional 2MP macro snapper.

The major difference between the two is their chipsets. The 4G variant is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 SoC with Bluetooth 5.3, while the 5G version houses a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chip with Bluetooth 5.1. Either way, they come with LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, and a dedicated MicroSD card slot.

Their remaining features include dual-band WiFi, GNSS, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 5,000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging support (ships with a 22.5W fast charger).

Both of them measure 164 x 76.1 x 8.9 mm in dimensions. However, the 4G model is slightly heavier at 201g compared to the 5G variant’s 200g weight.

Lenovo Tab P11 Pro (2nd Gen) specifications, price

The Lenovo Tab P11 Pro features an 11.2-inch OLED display with a 2.5K resolution of 2560 x 1536 pixels, up to 120Hz refresh rate, a DCI-P3 colour gamut of 100 percent, and a brightness of up to 600 nits. The device supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It comes preinstalled with Android 12 but is promised to get the Android 14 update. It features a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera.

The Tab P11 Pro is powered by the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T chipset. It will be available for purchase in configurations such as 4 GB RAM + 128 GB of storage; 6 GB RAM + 128 GB of storage; and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB of storage. It packs an 8,200 mAh battery. It also has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, a USB-C 3.0 port with DP-out, quad JBL speakers that support Dolby Atmos, two microphones, and a microSD card.

Buyers of the Tab P11 Pro can also add accessories such as a full-sized keyboard with a built-in trackpad, a Lenovo Precision Pen 3, and a folio case. It has a starting price of 499 euros and comes in two colours: Storm Grey and Oat.

The 11.5-inch LCD display on the Lenovo Tab P11 has a 2K resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, a DCI-P3 colour gamut, and a brightness of up to 400 nits. The device boots to Android 12L and is confirmed to get the Android 14 upgrade. On the back of the device is a 13-megapixel camera, while the front has an 8-megapixel camera.

The Tab P11 is the first-ever tablet to feature the MediaTek Helio G99v chipset. It will be available in three variants: 4 GB RAM + 64 GB of storage; 4 GB RAM + 128 GB of storage; and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB of storage. To keep the lights on, it has a 7,700 mAh battery. It also has LTE, up to Wi-Fi 6E, a USB-C port, Dolby Atmos tuned quad speakers, dual microphones, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a microSD card slot.

The Lenovo Tab P11 starts at 299 euros. It can be purchased in Storm Grey and Sage colours. Its optional accessories include the Lenovo Precision Pen 2, a keyboard pack, and a folio case.

The Infinix Note 12 Pro was made official on Aug. 26 in India. It is a 4G variant of the previously announced Infinix Note 12 Pro 5G. The series also includes other devices, such as the Infinix Note 12, Note 12 5G, Note 12 G96, Note 12 VIP, Note 12 Turbo, and Note 12 Pro 5G.

The Note 12 Pro 4G has arrived as India’s first phone powered by the Helio G99 chipset. It offers other exciting features, such as an AMOLED display, 108-megapixel triple rear cameras, and a big battery with fast charging support. The first sale of the device will be carried out at 12 pm (local time) on Flipkart today (Sept. 1).

Infinix Note 12 Pro 4G price, launch offers

The Infinix Note 12 Pro 4G is priced at Rs 16,999 (~$214). At this price, it offers 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage. It comes in Volcanic Grey, Tuscany Blue, and Alphine White colourways. Buyers of the Note 12 Pro 4G will get a free pair of Snokor XE 18 TWS worth Rs 1,099 (~$14) for Re 1.

In addition, buyers can get a Rs 1,500 (~$19) discount using debit and credit cards. There is 5 percent cashback offer available on Flipkart Axis Bank card. Customers can also redeem 500 supercoins while purchasing the Note 12 Pro 4G on Flipkart. Other offers include no-cost EMI on ZestMoney and debit card EMI.

Infinix Note 12 Pro 4G specifications

The Note 12 Pro has a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ display with a teardrop notch. It is powered by the Helio G99 chip, 8 GB of RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging. The device runs on Android 12 OS with XOS 10.6 on top.

The device features a 16-megapixel selfie camera with a dual front-facing flash. Its back panel has a 108-megapixel main camera, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, an AI lens, and a quad-LED flash. It has other features such as a side-facing fingerprint scanner and a microSD card slot.

The POCO M5 and POCO M5s are scheduled to go official at 20:00 PM (GMT+8) in the global market. Reports have claimed that only the M5 will be released in India, and not the M5s. The landing page of the POCO M5 is now available on the Indian retailer site, Flipkart. The listing confirms that the device will be announced in India at the same time globally. The Indian launch event takes place at 5:30 PM (local time) on Sept. 5. In addition, the microsite has revealed the key specifications and design of the M5.

The POCO M5 can be seen sporting a teardrop notch display on the front. Its back panel has a leather-like texture. The camera block houses a dual-camera setup, an LED flash, and a POCO branding. As can be seen in the tweet by POCO India head Himanshu Tandon, the POCO M5 will be available in at least yellow and blue colors.

As far as specifications are concerned, POCO has only confirmed that the POCO M5 will be equipped with the Helio G99, which is a new 6nm MediaTek chip. It is speculated that the POCO M5 will come in three options: 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage.

The global and Indian POCO M5 variants are likely to pack the same specs. However, the global model may carry support for NFC, while the Indian model will lack support for it.

Rumors are rife that the POCO M5 will feature a 6.58-inch LCD panel that offers a Full HD+ resolution. It may house a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. For security, it seems to be equipped with a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

POCO M5 specifications (rumored)

The POCO M5 will feature the Helio G99 chipset and a 6.58-inch LCD panel, which may support an FHD+ resolution. The device is expected to arrive in configurations like 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage.

The POCO M5 may pack a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support. There is no information available on the cameras of the device. For security, it may feature a side-facing fingerprint sensor. It is expected to run on MIUI 13-based Android 12 OS. The back panel of the POCO M5 will sport a leather-like design.

The POCO M5 heading to the global market will have support for NFC connectivity. However, its Indian edition will not support it. The M5 is likely to carry a sub-Rs 15,000 (~$188) price tag in India.

POCO M5s specifications (rumored)

According to Pricebaba, the POCO M5s is expected to arrive in three variants, such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It will be available in white, grey, and blue colors. The other specifications of the device are not known yet.

Last week, the Vivo V25 went official in Thailand, and now the device has gone official in Malaysia as well. The company has also unveiled the V25e alongside it. Even though the V25e is positioned lower than the V25, both phones have identical designs. Here is all the information on the specifications, features, and price of the V25e.

Vivo V25e specifications and features

The Vivo V25e features a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a teardrop notch. It has a Full HD+ resolution of 2404 x 1080 pixels, a DCI-P3 color gamut of 100 percent, a peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The handset weighs 183 grams and has a thickness of 7.99mm.

On the front, the V25e has a 32-megapixel selfie camera. Its back panel has a 64-megapixel main camera coupled with a 2-megapixel bokeh camera and a 2-megapixel macro snapper. The main camera carries support for Optical Image Stabilization (OIS). It offers bokeh flare portrait, night mode, live photo, AR stickers, Vlog movie, dual view, and double exposure as other photography features.

The V25e is equipped with the Helio G99 chipset. The SoC is coupled with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. It is backed by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging. According to Vivo, it takes 38 minutes for the phone to gain 58 percent battery juice. The device boots to the Android 12 OS, which is overlaid with FunTouch OS 12.

Like the V25 and V25 Pro, the V25e also comes with a color-changing glass back. Its other features include stereo speakers, a microSD card slot, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, NFC, and a USB-C port. It lacks a 3.5mm audio jack.

Vivo V25e price and availability

In Malaysia, the Vivo V25e is priced at MYR 1,399 (~$312). It comes in Diamond Black and Sunrise Gold (supports color changing).

Last month, MediaTek announced three new chipsets, namely the Helio G99, the Dimensity 930, and the Dimensity 1050. A tweet from Infinix Mobile confirms that it will be the first brand to launch a phone featuring the Helio G99 chipset.

The company confirmed that an upcoming Infinix Note 12 series phone will feature the Helio G99 chipset. The Note 12 family already includes four members, such as the Infinix Note 12, Note 12 G96 (aka Note 12 Turbo in India), Note 12i, and Note 12 VIP.

The Note 12 and Note 12i are powered by the Helio G88 and G85 chipsets, respectively, whereas the Note 12 G96 and Note 12 VIP are powered by the Helio G96. Hence, it appears that the upcoming Helio G99 powered Note 12 model will be the most powerful device in the series. It remains to be seen whether it will carry the Note 12 Pro moniker or some other name.

Built with TSMC’s 6nm process, the Helio G99 includes 2 x Cortex-A76 CPU cores working at 2.2GHz, 6 x Cortex-A55 cores ticking at 2GHz, and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. It can support up to a 108-megapixel camera. However, it lacks support for 5G connectivity. The Helio G99 powered Note 12 series phone may go official as early as this month.

At present, the Note 12 VIP is the most powerful phone in the family. It has a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display, a 16-megapixel front camera with dual-LED flash, a triple camera unit with 108-megapixel (main) + 13-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (depth) flash, the Helio G96 chipset, up to 8 GB of RAM, up to 256 GB of native storage, a 4,500mAh battery with 120W fast charging, and a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

MediaTek’s processor family has 3 brand new additions today – the Dimensity 1050, Dimensity 930, and Helio G99 SoC. We’ve covered the Dimensity 1050 SoC launch here earlier but do not dismiss the Dimensity 930 and Helio G99 processors as well because MediaTek is promising exceptional power efficiency from both chipsets because the company has chosen to manufacture both SoCs on TSMC’s N6 (6nm class) chip fabrication process. 

MediaTek Dimensity 930 5G

The MediaTek Dimensity 930 SoC is the successor to last year’s Dimensity 920 SoC which was found on devices such as the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ and Realme 9 Pro+. The basics of the Dimensity 930 seem to be essentially the same as last year’s offering as the Dimensity 920 features an octa-core setup with 2x ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores that can be clocked up to 2.2GHz, and 6x Arm Cortex-A55 clocked up to 2GHz. 

But what is surprisingly different here is that the Dimensity 920 last year had the same exact setup but with the Cortex-A78 cores clocked in higher at 2.5GHz. So in short, the Dimensity 930 features downclocked performance over its predecessor which could lead to better battery performance in the newer devices sporting this chipset.

But the most eye-opening highlight here is that Dimensity 930 finally supports high-end UFS 3.1 storage and fast LPDDR5 memory, a feature once only reserved for the flagship market has now come to the mid-rangers!

Connectivity-wise, the MediaTek Dimensity 930 supports True Dual 5G SIM (5G SA + 5G SA) giving users consistent 5G speeds, and the opportunity for VoNR to provide the best quality voice and video call experience from both dual SIM connections. Unfortunately, the Dimensity 930 SoC is still stuck on the older WiFi 5 standard and Bluetooth 5.2 standards, which is a shame considering Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 680 already supports Wi-Fi 6.

MediaTek Helio G99 LTE

The MediaTek Helio G99 is the company’s latest SoC built for affordable 4G gaming smartphones. MediaTek has finally switched over from TSMC’s 12nm node foundry over to the newer 6nm node process for the Helio G99 SoC. In turn, the new Helio G99 SoC is able to deliver 30 per cent better power efficiency and battery life for gaming compared to the older 12nm Helio G96 processor.

The fundamental core setup for the Helio G99 has also changed as well. The Helio G99 SoC is now a new octa-core processor that features 2x ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores that can run up to 2.2GHz and 6x ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores that run up to 2.0GHz. If this sounds familiar, it is because the octa-setup is the same found on the higher end Dimensity 930!

Connectivity-wise, the Helio G99 unfortunately does not support 5G, instead it features an essential dual 4G SIM support that provides a seamless experience with fast data services from both connections, while VoLTE and ViLTE services provide excellent call and live video experiences with faster call setup and noticeably better quality than standard calling.

The Helio G99 comes with an ARM Mali-G57 MC2 GPU with support for LPDDR4X Memory and UFS 2.2 storage. The SoC also features WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.2 and support for FHD+ 120Hz displays. 

MediaTek has collaborated with its Android smartphone partners to bring the Dimensity 930 SoC to market as soon as Q2 2022, and the Helio G99 SoC to market as soon as Q3 2022.
