Rugged smartphone manufacturer AGM has announced its latest smartphone, the AGM X3. Unlike other rugged smartphones, the AGM X3 packs similar specs as other 2018 flagships.

AGM X3 Design
Rugged smartphones are generally not good-looking which shouldn’t be surprising as looks are the last thing on the manufacturer’s mind. The AGM X3 tries to look good while maintaining its strength.
There are two versions of the phone – one with a curved anti-drop back cover and another with crocodile skin. AGM says they have been able to reduce the thickness of the device by 25% and the weight by 13.6% when compared to the previous model to make it more appealing.
AGM claims the X3 is the strongest rugged phone on the planet. It has a floating frame and has a three-proof design (waterproof, dustproof, and drop-proof from a height of 1.5m). It also has a MIL-STD-810G certification and can survive extreme low (-30°C) and high temperatures (60°C).
AGM X3 Specs
The X3 packs a 5.99-inch 18:9 display covered with Gorilla Glass 5. The display is said to have up to 500 nits of brightness. Powering the phone is a Snapdragon 845 processor paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
There are two cameras on the back of the phone- a 12MP sensor paired with a 24MP sensor both with f/1.8 apertures. It also has a 20MP front-facing camera with AI optimization. A fingerprint scanner sits below the dual rear cameras.

The AGM X3 supports Wi-Fi 2×2 MIMO and dual-SIM dual-VoLTE. There is also Bluetooth 5.0 and a USB-C port. The phone has dual SIM support and uses a hybrid SIM tray which lets you use two SIM cards at once or a SIM card and MicroSD card. Under the hood is a 4,100mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging, though it comes bundled with a Quick Charge 3.0 adapter.

The phone has stereo speakers on the back supplied by JBL which are up to 98db loud – twice that of other smartphones. There is also a smart PA audio chip inside the device.
The AGM X3 runs X OS which is based on Android 8.1 Oreo. No information was released about when it would be updated to Android 9 Pie.
