Samsung’s market share in China and India is steadily declining. Xiaomi has dethroned Samsung to capture the numero uno position in India and in China, the South Korean company has a dismal market share of less than 1 percent. The firm is well aware of it and it seems to have some strategy to regain its popularity in China. Fresh information reveals that Samsung is planning to launch Galaxy S8 Lite and Galaxy A8 Star smartphones to target the Chinese audience.

In the previous month, a mysterious Samsung phone with model number of SM-G8750 was spotted at Geekbench. Earlier in this month, another unidentified Samsung phone with model number SM-G8850 was certified by TENAA and the same phone was earlier spotted at AnTuTu benchmarking platform. Initial rumors had claimed that these phones could two variants of the rumored Galaxy S9 Mini. New information shared a popular leakster from China reveals that the SM-G8750 and SM-G8850 will be respectively launching as Galaxy S8 Lite and Galaxy A8 Star. Both the smartphones are expected to arrive Infinity Display design.

Recent reports have revealed that the Galaxy S8 Lite and Galaxy A8 Star are both fueled by Snapdragon 660 SoC. The Geekbench listing of the SM-G8750 Galaxy S8 Lite had revealed that it has 4 GB of RAM and it is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo.

The TENAA listing of the SM-G8850 Galaxy A8 Star has revealed that it has 6.28-inch Super AMOLED display that supports Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels. The SoC of the phone is supported by 4 GB of RAM. It has a 3,700mAh battery. The rear side of the phone features a vertical dual camera setup that includes a 16-megapixel sensor and a 24-megapixel sensor. It has a selfie snapper of 24-megapixel.

The LG G7 ThinQ variant that is heading to South Korea has a model number of LGE GM-710. The same LG device has appeared on Geekbench to some of the key specs of the smartphone

As it can be seen below, the Snapdragon 845 powers the G7 ThinQ. The SoC is supported by 4 GB of RAM and it is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo. In single-core and multi-core tests, the G7 ThinQ has respectively scored 2312 and 8979. These scores are decent, but the matter of concern is that it features only 4 GB of RAM.

The recently released Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S flagship phone has 8 GB of RAM. The upcoming OnePlus 6 also features 8 GB of RAM. Some of the mid-range phones like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M1 are packed with 6 GB of RAM. The Snapdragon 835 powered LG V30s ThinQ and V30s+ ThinQ respectively feature 128 GB and 256 GB of internal storage. Both the models feature 6 GB of RAM. The upcoming LG G7 ThinQ has a more powerful chipset onboard. It would better if the phone features 6 GB of RAM for the base variant.

Samsung is still milking the Galaxy S9 and S9+ which were launched not too long ago. So, we don’t expect the tech giant to launch the next-gen model likely called Galaxy S10 until next year. But already, some fans are starting to come out with concepts of what the Galaxy S10 would look like. This is the subject of a new YouTube video created by Concept Creator.

The Concept video isn’t of the actual device but the imagination of the creator but it’s always interesting to see these concept designs, as they do look really nice in most cases. In this case, the Galaxy S10 is crafted out of metal and glass, while it sports a vertically-aligned dual camera setup on the back. The device equally has a USB Type-C port at the bottom of the phone, alongside the device’s loudspeaker, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.On the right-hand side of the display is the power button while the volume rockers and Bixby buttons are located on the left side. The Bixby button has a textured finish so that it can be distinguished from the volume buttons.

The most interesting aspect of the Galaxy S10 renders is the thin bezels on the edge of the display. The side bezels are almost non-existent while the ones at the top and bottom edges are very thin, thinner than those of the Galaxy S9. The device also comes with a curved edge design which looks quite attractive. The Xiaomi Mi 6X has been unveiled as a successor for the Mi 5X phone from last year. Compared to the predecessor phone, the Mi 6X comes with some improvements like trendy full screen design and dual rear cameras. Also, the Mi 6X is the cheapest smartphone with Snapdragon 660 chipset.

Design and Display

The metal-bodied Xiaomi Mi 6X has a curved rear panel. It has been carved using CNC technology. In order to make it available in a ultra-thin body that has a thickness of 7.3mm, Xiaomi had to axe the 3.5mm audio jack feature. The handset can be availed in multiple colors like Cherry Pink, Red Flame, Glacier Blue, Quicksand Gold, and Black Stone.

The backside of the phone features u-shaped antenna lines on the top and bottom edges like the predecessor Xiaomi Mi 5X. The dual camera setup present on the back panel of the Mi 6X includes an f/1.75 aperture Sony IMX486 sensor with a pixel size of 1.25μm and a secondary 20-megapixel front-facing camera that features an f/1.75 aperture Sony IMX376 sensor with a pixel size of 2μm. The secondary sensor is a telephoto lens that offers 2x loseless zoom.

The dual cameras have been optimized to enhance the sharpness of the portrait shots by automatically switching to 12-megapixel camera as the main sensor during the day time and at night, it makes use of the 20-megapixel camera as the main sensor to capture images with more light. With AI onboard, the dual rear cameras can recognize up to 206 kinds of scenes with different optimizations to snap richer photos. Also, it can perform real-time translations for English, French, German Japanese, Korean, and Indian languages.

For shooting selfies, it features Sony IMX376 20-megapixel front camera. It is equipped with a soft-light LED flash. The pre-AI allows the front-facing camera to shoot best quality selfie shots as it can recognize 12 kinds of self-portrait scenes. Other features of the front camera of Mi 6X include AI Beauty and AI night self-timer. Lastly, the front camera can be also used for unlocking the phone through face scanning.

Performance

The Snapdragon 660 that features an Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE) powers the Xiaomi Mi 6X. On AnTuTu, the Mi 6X has scored 139,697 points and it delivers 79 percent better performance than the Mi 5X that is fueled by Snapdragon 625. There is a 64 GB Mi 6X model with 4 GB of RAM and 6 GB of RAM. Its 128 GB model has 6 GB of RAM. The Mi 6X is packed with 3,010 battery that includes support Quick Charge 3.0 18W fast charging. By charging it for only 30 minutes, the phone can gain 50 percent power. It is also equipped with AI smart powering function.

The Android 8.1 Oreo OS is preinstalled on the phone and it is overlaid with MIUI 9.5 which brings support for full screen gestures. Also, it comes with Xiao AI voice assistant that was introduced with Mi MIX 2S in the previous month.

Pricing and Availability

Most of the Snapdragon 660 smartphones available in the market are priced around 3,000 Yuan (~$475) but the highest configuration 128 GB Xiaomi Mi 6X variant that has 6 GB of RAM carries a price tag of 1,999 Yuan (~$316) only. The 64 GB Mi 6X models with 4 GB of RAM and 6 GB of RAM are respectively priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$253) and 1,799 Yuan (~$285).

Recently, China-based Xiaomi launched its first ever gaming laptop and then launched its first gaming smartphone — Black Shark. Now, according to the latest report, the company is all set to start selling its gaming headsets — Xiaomi Gaming Headset on 27th April.

The Xiaomi Gaming Headset will be available for purchase in China on 27th April for a price of 349 Yuan, which roughly converts to $55. Twitter user Ishan Agarwal has shared the promotional images of the gaming headsets, which reveals its design and features.

In terms of design, the company has opted for a minimalist design, without any ‘Xiaomi’ or ‘Mi‘ branding. There’s an LED strip on both sides, and the user also has the ability to configure the color of the LED strip as well as the lighting effects through a software.

The leaked images reveal that the Xiaomi Gaming Headset will come with 7.1 Virtual Surround Stereo Engine, 40mm Graphene Composite Diaphragm, and Dual Microphone ENC Ambient Noise Reduction Technology.

Fresh information that surfaced yesterday had revealed that the Nokia X6 could be the new phone that HMD Global may launch on the coming Friday. The handset is expected to arrive with a 5.8-inch display that will offer an aspect ratio of 19:9. Since phones like ASUS ZenFone 5Z, OPPO F7, OPPO R15, OPPO R15 Dream Mirror, Vivo V9, and Vivo X21 that offer 19:9 aspect ratio feature a notched screen like the Apple iPhone X, it is speculated that Nokia X6 could be the first Nokia branded phone with notched screen. Fresh renders of the alleged Nokia X6 sporting a notch have cropped up today to reveal what sort of design it will be arriving with.

The above image shows that the Nokia 6X with notched screen could be the first Nokia phone to offer highest screen-to-body ratio. The notch of the phone seems to be housing a selfie camera, an earpiece and some sensors. The side bezels of the phone appear quite narrow. Confirmed: OnePlus 6 Will Launch On May 17 In China (UPDATE: International Launch)

UPDATE: Company has further confirmed that the OnePlus 6 Will Launch on May 16 in London and on May 17 in China and Mumbai.

There have been several rumours about OnePlus 6‘s launch date, with the most recent one claiming it to be on May 21. It turns out, this date wasn’t far off, as the Chinese company has just confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will meet us officially on May 17 in China. This finally puts a rest to the conflicting release dates suggested by different rumours in the past couple of weeks.

Now that the launch date is confirmed, we can finally focus on the other aspects of the device. The OnePlus 6 is confirmed to feature a glass body with round corners, different from the all metal design adorned by the previous flagships. This should also pave way for Wireless Charging support, a first for a OnePlus flagship device. The glass body has been reportedly selected among 70 different prototypes and the final product will feature 5 layers of nanotech coating to give a better feel of depth on the rear glass as compared to competitors.

Coming to the specs, the OnePlus 6 is almost confirmed to feature a notch up front on its 6-inch AMOLED display. Other rumored specs of the device include Snapdragon 845, 3450mAh battery, 8GB RAM, 128GB / 256GB ROM options, and a 16+20MP rear dual cameras.

The OnePlus 6 release date in India was said to be May 18 according to a recent report from Money Control. With the official launch in China set for May 17, this date doesn’t seem to be far off. So, we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation from the company for the India launch date of the OnePlus 6.

Xiaomi MiTu Quadcopter Drone Launched For 399 Yuan ($63)

Xiaomi has launched a radio-controlled unmanned aerial vehicle also called a drone under its MiTU sub-brand focused on the manufacture of toys. The drone is a quadcopter with four rotors. It also comes with a remote control which helps in controlling the drone from the ground. The device also offers First person view (FPV).

In terms of appearance, the MiTU drone looks just like any other portable quadcopter out there. It has a compact size and uses a unique one-piece frame structure design. The quadcopter also comes with four wheelbases and each is 11cm long. The entire drone weighs just 88g which is ideal for better flights. The body is made of modified PP plastic with low density and high toughness making it more resistant to falling. The propeller blades are made of glass fibre.

The device also comes with a front-mounted camera which can shoot 720p videos and can capture still image aerial photography at 1600 x 1200p resolution. Further, the MiTU RC Quadcopter comes equipped with a quad-core 1.2GHz SoC which is paired with 4GB of RAM. There are several sensors onboard, including ultrasonics, barometers, and optical flow sensors. The drone also comes with precision hovers which enables the drone to fly steadily and smoothly in the indoor environment. In addition, it also has a headless mode, gravity sensing, palm take off, four-way rolling and other advanced modes along with a large bandwidth, low delay, anti-interference ability 5.8GHz high-frequency signal Wi-Fi. Surprisingly, the MiTu drone can hit a maximum height of 25 metres which the remote control can be used up to a distance of 50 metres. Keeping the drone fired up is a built-in 920mAh battery that can maintain 10 minutes of battery life.

Xiaomi Maintains Market Lead in India in Q1 2018, Huawei Joins Top Five Vendors

Xiaomi‘s exploit in India last year is still very fresh in our memories. The company dethroned Samsung in the fourth quarter of the year to emerge as the market leader in India. The Chinese tech giant seems to have consolidated on its lead in the first quarter of 2018. A recent report by Counterpoint Research has shown that Xiaomi secured a 31.1% share of the smartphone market in India in terms of shipment.

This is a leap from the 25% market share which the company achieved in Q4 2017. The report attributed Xiaomi’s success to a rise in the offline market as well as consolidating on its online channel. The company was able to record a 57% share in the online segment. Out of the Mi products, the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro were the most popular models. That isn’t a surprise due to the fact that both models.

Xiaomi is followed by Samsung in India with its market share growing from 23% in Q4 2017 to 26.2% in Q1 2018 but that still wasn’t enough to match Xiaomi’s performance. Samsung released two of its flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and S9+, in Q1 2018, but its growth was largely driven by launches in the budget segment which includes the Galaxy J7 NXT and J2 (2017).

The top 5 OEMs in the Indian market got a refreshing outlook, with Huawei replacing Lenovo in the top 5 smartphone vendors list. Huawei which recently commenced a major push for the market recorded a 3.4% share volume. The growth is attributed to the positive response which the Honor 9 Lite and Honor 7x received. Other brands on the top 5 list include Vivo and OPPO which occupied the third and fourth spots. This is despite a slump in the market share of both BBK subsidiaries in India. Vivo’s market share was 5.8%, down from 6% in Q4 2017 while Oppo’s market share also fell from 6% in Q4 2017 to 5.6% in the latest quarter.

Since HMD Global brought back the Nokia brand, it has been consistently launching newer versions of older phones like Nokia 3310 and Nokia 8810. On April 27, the Finnish firm will be unveiling a revamped version of the Nokia X, the first Android phone that came Nokia branding. Two variants of the upcoming Nokia X have already been certified by 3C authority in China. Fresh information that has surfaced from the same country has revealed that the new Nokia X phone may debut as Nokia X6. Juicy details on the specifications, variants and pricing of the Nokia X6 have also been leaked.

The Nokia X6 is rumored to arrive with a 5.8-inch display that may carry support for an aspect ratio of 19:9. The notched display available on smartphones like ASUS ZenFone 5Z, OPPO F7, OPPO R15, OPPO R15 Dream Mirror, Vivo V9, and Vivo X21 deliver 19:9 aspect ratio. So, there is a possibility that Nokia X6 may feature a notched display. The rear side of the Nokia X6 is likely to feature a vertical dual camera setup that will include Carl Zeiss lenses. The dual camera will professional mode photography feature. There is no information available on the exact configuration of the dual rear cameras of the X6.

The base model of the X6 could be driven by Snapdragon 636 and 4 GB of RAM. The higher variant is speculated to be fueled by MediaTek Helio P60 and 6 GB of RAM. Both variants are rumored to be respectively priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$253) and 1,799 Yuan (~$285). The Nokia X6 is expected to slot itself between the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 Plus smartphones that were unveiled earlier this year.

Samsung Galaxy A6 And A6 Plus Renders Shows Metallic Design And Infinity Display

Samsung is expected to soon launch its two new mid-range smartphones — Samsung Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6 Plus. After the phone’s specifications, the renders of the Galaxy A6 has been leaked online, giving us a glimpse of the phone’s design.

The Samsung Galaxy A6 will feature a full-screen Infinity Display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The leak also reveals that there will be a physical home button below the display, which is also expected to work as a fingerprint sensor.

It seems that the smartphone will come with a dual camera setup the back, along with an LED flash. The device also retains 3.5mm audio jack. While the volume rocker is placed on the left side, the power button is on the right side.

Coming to the specifications, the Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus are expected to feature a 5.6-inch and 6.0-inch Super AMOLED display along with 18:9 aspect ratio and a Full-HD+ screen resolution of 2220 × 1080 pixels.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A6 will be powered by the company’s own Exynos 7870 while the A6 Plus will be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 625 processor. The smartphone is expected to pack 3GB with 32GB internal storage.

On the other hand, the A6 Plus will come with 4GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. Both the smartphone will come with a microSD card slot, enabling users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity. Running on Android Oreo operating system out of the box, the Galaxy A6 will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

The leaked images suggest that the smartphone will be launched in at least two color variants – Gold and Blue. While the company has not yet revealed when it plans to launch the A6 and A6 Plus, the numerous leaks related to the smartphones hints that the launch is imminent.

Recently report suggested that the Galaxy A6-series will be first launched in India. It will be interesting to see how the Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus is able to help the South Korean giant in the budget smartphone segment, which is currently being dominated by Chinese smartphone manufacturers.

OnePlus 6 Is Reportedly Launching On May 21

OnePlus is gearing up to launch its new flagship smartphone — OnePlus 6. While the company has confirmed various features and specifications of the phone, it has not yet revealed the official launch yet.

While the OnePlus 6 has been rumored to get launched by the end of next week or early next month, latest report indicates that the upcoming “flagship killer” from OnePlus will get launched on 21st May.

Apparently, the company has sent an email to those who have been selected to trial the upcoming smartphone from the company ahead of its official launch as a part of its OnePlus 6 Lab Community Review Programme.

In the email, the company has listed out all the terms and conditions of the programme as well as 21st Mat as the launch date of the OnePlus 6 smartphone. If the launch date of 21st May turns out to be true, this will be the first smartphone from the company to get released this early.

The company has already confirmed that the OnePlus 6 will come with a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with Full-HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The company has also confirmed that the smartphone will come with a notch and there’ll be an option to disable it.

It will be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 8GB RAM along with an internal storage of 256GB. Other than the 8GB RAM variant, the phone is also expected to arrive in two other options — 6GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. The rear side of the phone is expected to feature 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup. It is also expected to pack 20-megapixel front-facing snapper.

The device will come loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with the company’s own OxygenOS on top. Under the hood, it is speculated to be powered by a 3,450mAh battery which will also carry support for Dash Charge V2 that may let its users use it for the entire day just by charging it for 20 minutes.

Recently, Amazon India put up a landing page of OnePlus 6 on its website and has started taking registrations for the same. It also revealed that the device will be exclusively available in India through Amazon India.
