With the Meizu E3 out of the way, the focus is now on the Meizu 15. The anniversary edition flagship is expected to come in three variants which have been spotted on TENAA.
The three devices are listed as the Meizu M891Q, Meizu M881M, and the Meizu M871Q which we believe are the Meizu 15 Plus, Meizu 15, and Meizu 15 Lite respectively.
Meizu 15 Plus (M891Q)
The Meizu 15 Plus has a 5.95” display. It packs a 3430mAh battery and measures 153.8 × 78.25 × 7.25 mm. It runs an undisclosed version of Android and has dual SIM support.
[envira-gallery id=”181386″]
Images provided show the phone has dual rear cameras. The cameras are stacked vertically and sit in the middle of the phone. There is also a ring flash below the setup. Power button is on the right and volume control buttons sit on the left.
Up in front, the phone has slightly smaller bezels. The front facing camera sits at the center of the top bezel and the bottom is home to a circular home button. This likely doubles as a fingerprint scanner.
Meizu 15 (M881M)
The Meizu 15 packs a smaller 5.46” display along with a smaller 2940mAh battery. The dimensions are also smaller at 143 × 72 × 7.25 mm.
[envira-gallery id=”181383″]
The design is identical to that of the Meizu 15 Plus with the only difference being the gold brushed metal back instead of black. However, the front of the phone is black too with the same circular home button.
Meizu 15 Lite (M871Q)
The Meizu 15 Lite has the same 5.46” screen as the Meizu 15 but it is possible the resolution is lower. It has a slightly bigger battery too (3000mAh/3050mAh) and measures 143.62 × 72.38 × 7.5 mm.
The significant difference is in the design and camera. The rear is home to a single camera but it has the same ring LED flash. The back is metal with a matte gold finish and visible U-antenna lines at the top and bottom.
[envira-gallery id=”181382″]
The front of the Meizu 15 Lite is white but it shares the same design as the other two. The white bezels lets us see that there is an earpiece at the top of the camera. It is a very thin slit positioned at the edge of the frame which explains why we didn’t see it on the other two.
The SIM tray and power button are on the right and the volume control buttons are on the left.
Black Shark Technology Incorporated, a newly formed smartphone manufacturing company, which is backed by Xiaomi, is gearing up to launch its first gaming smartphone. The upcoming smartphone, which is expected to be named Black Shark, has already been leaked online.
While the previous leaks surrounding the Black Shark gaming smartphone had suggested that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, the company has now officially confirmed this.
The company has released a poster of the upcoming smartphone which mentions that the Black Shark gaming smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm‘s flagship Snapdragon 845 SoC to provide a smoother gaming experience. This is the same chipset that is powering almost all of the flagship smartphones launched this year.
In addition to this, last week, the company had revealed that the phone will come with “Shark Space” — a feature that is similar to the Game Center feature.
Recently, Black Shark’s chief executive officer announced a lucky draw contest on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. As a part of the contest, the company will select 3 lucky winners on 30th March who will then receive Black Shark gaming smartphone.
The previously leaked specs suggest that the phone will feature a Full HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. It will pack 8GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage but we expected the device to have a microSD card slot, allowing users to further expand the storage capacity on the phone. We are also expecting either 64GB storage model or 128GB internal storage variant as well.
The device is expected to be running on Android 8.0 (Oreo) operating system out-of-the-box. While there is no more information available at this time regarding the phone’s display, the phone might come with a 120Hz display in order to compete with the Razer Phone that was released last year.
The company recently signed a cooperation agreement with JD.com for sales and promotions. With the company revealing the phone’s specifications, organizing contests, and forming partnerships for the phone, it seems that the official launch date of the Black Shark gaming smartphone is not far away.

Sharp has confirmed that it will be launching the Sharp Aquos S3 smartphone on March 28 through an unveil event in Vietnam. Today, several images of the Aquos S3 have surfaced on official Facebook Sharp Mobile Vietnam page and some of the Vietnamese publication before its official announcement to reveal its entire design.
The company has claimed that the Aquos S3 will be the world’s first 6-inch smartphone to feature a display with the highest screen-to-body ratio of 91 percent. As it can be seen in the images, the handset features a notch that houses a selfie camera, an earpiece and couple of sensors. The sides bezels are quite narrow, and the company’s branding can be seen on the slightly thicker bottom bezel.
The backside of the phone is equipped with dual rear cameras and the top-left corner. Below the dual camera is its dual-tone LED flash. Sharp’s logo is also present on the bottom side of the phone. The rear panel of the Aquos S3 is also equipped with a fingerprint scanner. The bottom edge of the phone features a USB-C port and an external speaker grille. The left edge of the phone features a SIM card slot while the right side is fitted with a volume rocker and a Power key.
Sharp claims that the Face ID of the Aquos S3 is very reliable as it can scan 1,024 facial features of the phone to unlock the device. The rear shell of the phone features four-sided 3D curved glass coupled with a metallic frame gives a premium appeal to it.
The TENAA listing of the Aquos S3 has already revealed its entire specs. It is equipped with a 5.99-inch display and it could be powered by the Snapdragon 660 or Snapdragon 630 chipset. The S3 may arrive in 64 GB and 128 GB storage options that are likely to feature 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. The 13-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual camera with f/1.75 aperture and 2x optical zoom is present on the backside of the phone. The front panel of the phone is pegged to feature AI driven 16-megapixel that will be able to impressive portrait shots. It is expected to arrive with a 3,100mAh battery.
We can say hello to Nubia V18 and Lenovo S5, the nth midrange smartphones focused on the quality-price ratio with a Snapdragon 625 SoC. Even though both of them have been released with a processor launched in 2016, their inexpensive price tag may make them two of the most interesting mid-range devices of 2018.
In this Nubia V18 vs Lenovo S5 comparison you will discover which is better among these new-entries and which one should you buy.
Even though Nubia V18 and Lenovo S5 boast very similar dimensions (with the former being just some millimeters taller and larger), the V18 has a way bigger display thanks to its narrower bezels (6.01 vs 5.7 inches). But the two displays should be very similar in terms of quality. Even the performances should not change so much as they both have a Snapdrgon 625 SoC paired with 4 GB of RAM (there is a 3 GB RAM variant for the Lenovo S5 which will cost less than the 4 GB version). We expect to see better photos shot on the Lenovo S5 as its dual 13 MP camera and its dual-LED dual-tone flash should adapt better to every condition. Even the front camera will be way better on the Lenovo S5 with its 16 MP resolution for highly detailed selfies.
On the other hand, Nubia V18 will offer longer battery life thanks to a much bigger battery (4000 mAh vs 3000 mAh). Due to their very similar specs, it is very hard to choose one instead of another… But wait: there is its price.
In China, Nubia V18 will sell for about $205/€166, while Lenovo S5 will start from just $157/€127 (3/32 GB variant). With these prices, Lenovo S5 has a way higher value for money! Also consider that Lenovo S5 comes with Android Oreo out of the box (customized with ZUI 3.7, an user interface which comes from ZUK devices), while Nubia V18 still has Android Nougat (customized with nubia UI 5.1) and we do not know if and when it will update to the new version. But if you do not care about camera, Nubia V18 could be a better device for you thanks to its big battery.
Huawei is gearing up to launch its flagship smartphones — Huawei P20 and P20 Pro on 27th March, i.e. tomorrow at a launch event in Paris, France.
The company will be providing a live steam of the launch event for everyone to watch. The event is scheduled to start at 9 PM EDT or 6 PM PDT and will be live streamed on YouTube (link). Users can also set a reminder for an alert when the live stream starts.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmyVH15r1lA
While the smartphones are launching tomorrow, their specifications were leaked weeks ago. The Huawei P20 is said to come with a 5.8-inch LCD display with a 2240 x 1080 resolution. It will also have a notch in the upper part of the display just like the Apple‘s iPhone X. On the other hand, the P20 Pro will come with a 6.1inch OLED display with a 2240 x 1080 resolution and a 19:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood, the smartphone will be powered by the company’s own Kirin 970 processor. This is the same processor that will power the Pro variant as well. While the P20 will have 4GB RAM, the P20 Pro will come with 6GB RAM. The P20 will pack 128GB onboard storage but unlike the Pro model, it won’t have an option for storage expansion.
The rear cameras are the main distinguishing factors between the P20 and P20 Pro. Not only does the P20 come with just two sensors but they are different too. The main camera is expected to be 12MP RGB sensor paired with a 20MP f/1.6 monochrome sensor. Huawei partnered with Leica on this too and there’s LEICA and SUMMILUX branding on the back.
The P20 Pro will have triple-camera configuration at the back. The Leica co-developed sensors are arranged vertically, consisting of 40MP + 8MP dual sensors in the same housing and a third “standalone” 20MP camera.
Both the smartphone models will come with a 24MP selfie camera with “Light Fusion” technology that brightens images using artificial intelligence. There is a 3,400mAh battery supplying power to P20 while the P20 Pro will drive power from a 4,000mAh battery. Both will come with support for Huawei’s SuperCharge fast charge technology (5V/4.5A).
Based on the previous reports, the Huawei P20 will sell for €649, and the P20 Pro and P20 Lite are priced at €899 and €369 respectively. There will also be a Huawei P20 Porsche Edition which will have 256GB of storage and cost more.
While Huawei’s flagship smartphones will be launched tomorrow, the company will struggle to make an impact in the US market. In a major blow to the company’s aspirations to sell its smartphones in the United States, Best Buy said that it will no longer sell Huawei’s phones and other devices.
This development comes after US-based network carrier providers, including AT&T, backed out of a deal to sell Huawei’s smartphones in the country, reportedly due to the US government concerns over Huawei’s links to the Chinese government.
Xiaomi will be announcing the Mi MIX 2S flagship smartphone through a launch event tomorrow at 2 PM in Shanghai, China. It is a known fact that it will be the first flagship phone from Xiaomi for this year and it is also the first smartphone from China to feature the Snapdragon 845 chipset. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has revealed some information on the key specs of the highest configuration model of the Mi MIX 2S today. Moreover, he has also hinted that it will be arriving with an expensive price tag.
According to Jun, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 chipset is very good, but it has one major drawback that’s not related any of its features or performance. He claims that the cost of the Snapdragon 845 along with 17 percent VAT (standard VAT value exceeds 500 Yuan (~$80). A report had surfaced in the recent past that revealed that the pricing each of the components present inside the Galaxy S9. It stated that the SD845 chipset that powers it is priced at $68. So, adding a VAT of 17 percent takes the cost of the chipset to up to $80.
He added that the pricing of the SD845 is about three times more than the Snapdragon 660 that is used for powering upper mid-range phones. Currently, the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage is selling with a price tag of 2,099 Yuan ($332). Adding the cost of SD845 to it takes the price to $2,599 Yuan (~$411). The Mi MIX 2S is expected to arrive with full screen design, dual rear cameras and UFS 2.1 storage. These specs could increase the price of the Mi MIX 2S to 3,000 Yuan ($490) for the lowest configuration variant featuring 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.
At present, 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 is selling for 3,099 Yuan (~$490). Hence, it is speculated that the base model of the Mi MIX 2S will be selling at a slightly higher price tag of 3,299 Yuan (~$522).
Jun has also revealed that highest configuration variant of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S will be packed with SD845 chipset, 8 GB of RAM and a native storage of 256 GB. As far as the design of the phone is concerned, it will be arriving with a four-sided curved ceramic body. It has been revealed that one of the major highlights of the Mi MIX 2S will be its AI driven dual rear cameras that includes support for scene detection, Full HD quality slow motion video shooting and more. It is also expected to arrive as the first Xiaomi phone that will be arriving with support for wireless charging.
Xiaomi is all set to officially announce its new flagship smartphone — Mi MIX 2S at a launch event that is scheduled to take place tomorrow in Shanghai, China.
Now, the company officials have confirmed that along with the Mi MIX 2S smartphone, Xiaomi will also be launching two other products. However, the company has not yet revealed anything related to those two products.
Based on the previous reports, we expect one of those two devices to be the Mi AI Speaker’s Mini edition, which is expected to be named Little Love Student Mini Edition. The live photos of the speaker have leaked online a few days ago, giving us the look at its design.
The speaker looks like a miniature version of the Xiaomi Smart Rice Cooker. On the top side, there’s an interaction pad with four buttons placed on four sides. It could be the hub for all of Xiaomi’s smart home products, just like the Mi AI Speaker.
This will be the second smart speaker from Xiaomi after the company launched its Mi AI Speaker in July 2016, which comes with a six-microphone array. This upcoming mini smart speaker is expected to cost around 199 Yuan, which roughly converts to $32.
While we are assuming that one of the two products to launch alongside Mi MIX 2S is this Little Love Student Mini Edition, the other product still remains mysterious. It seems that we’ll have to wait for the launch event to know what the other product is.
The showstopper for the launch event tomorrow is the Mi MIX 2S, whose specifications have already been leaked ahead of its launch. It is expected to come with a 6.01-inch FHD+ display panel and will be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 processor.
The top-end variant of the phone will come with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The phone will have two options for RAM — 6GB and 8GB and two more options for internal storage — 64GB and 128GB. The battery is expected to be 3,400mAh capacity, which is not large considering 6-inch display on the phone but it should offer decent battery performance.
Xiaomi has worked hard on the camera department of this new model and according to the leaked firmware files, the phone with feature 12MP IMX 363 dual camera setup at the back with support for artificial intelligence. It will also come with Multi-frame image processing and FHD 120fps slo-mo and 720p HD 240fps slo-mo video support.
The smartphone will also come with AI Face Unlock but nothing like the Apple Face ID. Another feature that is confirmed for the MIUI 9.5 (based on Android Oreo) powered smartphone is the Wireless Charging.

A new update is hitting European units of Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. According to new reports from Germany, the update is coming via OTA and it brings the security patches for the month of March. The new firmware weighs about 465 MB and it is identified by the build number G955FXXU1CRC7. It is based on Android 8.0 Oreo as these devices have already been updated to the latest Android version.
Besides bringing the security patches for this month, the new update rolling out on Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus is also fixing five vulnerabilities found in Samsung Experience, the customized user interface from the Korean giant. At the moment, there are no other reports regarding this update, so we do not know if it is rolling out in other European countries as well. The update regards the Exynos variant of the handsets as it is the one launched in the European market.
Don’t worry if you own one of these devices and you still haven’t receive the update as it should spread to the whole Continent soon. To force the arrival of the update, you can head to the Settings and tap on Software updates. We suggest you download it through a Wi-Fi connection in order to save your data traffic. You can find the update firmware for Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ below (Odin is needed to install them manually).
It seems that Samsung is planning to launch a brand new mid-range smartphone this year: Samsung Galaxy A6. After two alleged variants of this handset were spotted on Geekbench, the device has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. This official certification confirms its existence and lets us know that it will probably launch soon. Unfortunately, Wi-Fi Alliance did not reveal any of the specs of this upcoming device, so it is still shrouded in the mystery. But the model number and the operating system have been revealed, so we may be able to identify the handset better in the upcoming leaks.
According to Wi-Fi Alliance, Samsung Galaxy A6 has the model number SM-A600FN and Android 8.0 Oreo is installed, so it will come out of the box. No more info has been revealed, but thanks to the previous Geekbench leak we already know a few details about its specs. Even though it will be called A6, according to Geekbench it will have lower-end specs than the Galaxy A5 (2017). Under the hood, the handset sports an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7870 SoC which is also present on the Galaxy A3 (2017) and some devices of the Galaxy J series. Samsung Exynos 7870 is an octa-core chipset composed of eight Cortex-A53 CPUs; it also includes a Mali T830 MP1 GPU.
The SoC will be paired with 2 GB of RAM, while the internal storage is not known yet. On Geekbench, the Samsung Galaxy A6 scored 723 points in single-core performances and 3605 points in multi-core. According to the benchmarking platform, a Plus version of this device will be released as well and it will bring the code name SM-A605G. Unlike the standard version, this one seems better than the Galaxy A5. The A6+ will sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor unlike most of Samsung midranges, and 4 GB of RAM. But the score obtained on Geekbench is weirdly even lower than the one obtained by the A6 (739 in single-core and 3469 in multi-core).
Xiaomi has begun rolling out MIUI 9.5, the latest version of its custom android ROM to eligible devices. Some of the phones that have gotten it include the Mi MIX 2 and the Mi 6. Reports say the update includes serious bugs, with the temporary solution being a disabling Google Mobile Services.
The update to MIUI 9.5 caused a power drain and wasn’t showing notifications for alarms and WeChat messages. MIUI engineers said a temporary fix is to disable Google Framework and Google Mobile Services. If you own the Chinese variant of the affected devices, a complete removal of Google Framework and GMS apps such as Gmail, Google Search, and Play Store is required.
Xiaomi says error logs uploaded on the official forum showed that Google Mobile Services was frequently sending an unusually high number of notifications which caused the power drain and also affected other apps (WeChat, alarm).
We know it must be confusing already but this post should clear things up. The device with model number NEO-AL00 which was initially referred to as the Mate X but was later said to be the MateRS Porsche Design is actually the Porsche Design Mate RS. But that isn’t all.
The Porsche Design Mate RS has a launch date already and it is March 27, same date as the launch of the Huawei P20 series.
You may be wondering if that means we are getting four phones on Tuesday – P20, P20 Pro, Porsche Design P20, and Porsche Design Mate RS. No, they are actually just three. It appears there is no phone called the Porsche Design P20. So that teaser for yesterday is actually for the Huawei Porsche Design Mate RS and not the Huawei Porsche Design P20.
According to GadgetMatch, Huawei representatives said the Mate RS is a different phone from the P20, P20 Pro, and Porsche Design Mate 10. That explains the image of the Huawei phone with three horizontal cameras and not vertically arranged cameras.
Even though the new generations of Samsung and Apple flagships have been launched, OnePlus 5T remains the fastest smartphone in the market, at least according to a speed test. The famous YouTube channel PhoneBuff has published its nth speed test video. This time, the Chinese flagship has been compared with Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and iPhone X, the most powerful flagships from Samsung and Apple, respectively. The speed test consisted of opening several apps, then opening the same apps again to verify if there are reloads or the app has been kept open in the background.
While at the first opening iPhone X was the fastest phone among the three flagships, after the complete test, OnePlus 5T won the challenge. The Chinese flagship has completed the speed test in just one minute and 51 seconds. Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus finished at the second place with one minute and 53 seconds, while iPhone X has completed the test in two minutes and 18 seconds. With its stock user interface, OnePlus 5T has beaten Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and its custom UI, as well as iPhone X and the wonderful iOS optimization.
Given that it took a while for the iPhone X to reload the apps, it seems that the Apple’s flagship has lost the battle because of its limited quantity of RAM (3 GB). The OnePlus 5T used in the video is the configuration with 8 GB of RAM and the octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset. The Samsung Galaxy S9+ used is the American version with Snapdragon 845 and 6 GB of RAM. Both OP5T and S9+ have a UFS 2.1 internal storage, while iPhone X has an NVMe memory. Among these three devices, OnePlus 5T is the cheapest one. It starts from $499/€499, but note that it is already out of stock in the U.S. and it will be not available to purchase in this country anymore.
It never good to take such tests too seriously as in real life usage, you are hardly going to open so many apps at once. But its good to see that a cheaper and older flagship manages to beat the big players.
Compact flagship phones under 5 inches have become incredibly hard to find. The Compact line-up by Sony and iPhone SE are the only notable compact flagships released in the past few years and, with users demanding huge displays everyday, we are not even sure about the arrival of an iPhone SE 2. According to some reports, its launch is imminent, while according to others, it will never see the light of day.
Fresh rumors are suggesting that, if an iPhone SE 2 exists, it will be manufactured exclusively in India.
The report comes from exactly the same source which reported that the handset will have a back cover made of glass in order to make wireless charging possible. The source is Tekz24, who stated that iPhone SE 2 will be manufactured and assembled in India, unlike other Apple devices which have been manufactured in China by Foxconn. The reason could be India having import tariffs on hi-tech products, and this could make Apple competitive with local phone makers.
We are talking about the fact that Apple may decide to make iPhone SE 2 an India-exclusive, after acknowledging the success of its predecessor in the country. If Apple doesn’t have plans to sell the device outside of India, it would make so much sense to manufacture and assemble it in India instead of giving the task to Foxconn and Pegatron — its usual manufacturers. India is the second most populated country in the world and, in India, two out of nine people own a smartphone.
However, we cannot ensure the reliability of the report, so take everything with a pinch of salt.
Do you believe iPhone SE 2 exists? If yes, do you think Apple will launch its next compact device as an India-exclusive?
The last tablet from Sony was released back in 2015. Since then, the Japanese company has continued its adventure in the mobile sector by sticking to smartphones. But in 2018, according to a new report, the company will launch two new tablets under the Sony Xperia XZ2 line-up. A teardown of the camera app by Sony has revealed some references to new upcoming Xperia tablets. You can see the references found in the app code below:
From what the camera app code is showing, Sony will release at least two tablets: one with an 8-inch display and a bigger one with a 10-inch panel, both with Android, obviously. These tablets are expected to come this summer and they may be announced alongside Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro, which is reportedly the most advanced smartphone of 2018 from this company. At the moment, there is no info about the specs sheet of the two tablets. We can only tell you that the Xperia Z4 Tablet, which was the last tablet released by the company, was a flagship device. So, at least one among Sony Xperia XZ2 Tablet 8.0 and 10 may rival the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 and the most powerful iPads.
We expect at least one of them to come with a Snapdragon 8xx SoC and an LTE variant with a SIM Card slot. In a market with smartphones getting even bigger displays, tablets are struggling to find a niche, especially the ones with Android. The number of tablets shipped has decreased a lot in the last years. That is why you can actually see fewer tablets launches by the best brands as compared to some years ago. This means that Sony Xperia XZ2 Tablet should not find a lot of competitors once it gets launched.
