In the previous month, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had introduced Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max smartphones. Both phones have been rebranded and launched as Huawei Enjoy 9 Plus and Huawei Enjoy Max in China. Compared to the Honor 8X phones, the newly unveiled Huawei Enjoy phones are equipped with some modified specs.

Huawei Enjoy 9 Plus specifications, features and pricing

The Huawei Enjoy 9 Plus is fitted with a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen. It measures 162.4 x 77.1 x 8.05mm. The notched display of the smartphone produces 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. The TUV Rheinland certified display filters the harmful blue rays emitted by the screen. The Kirin 710 chipset is present under the hood of the device. There are two model of the smartphone. The base model has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage whereas the higher variant is equipped with 4 GB of RAM and an inbuilt storage of 128 GB. The Honor 8X has a single selfie snapper of 16-megapixel. The Enjoy 9 Plus is equipped with Histen 5.0 audio technology by Huawei. A fingerprint scanner is available on the backside of the phone. It comes with connectivity features like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB and GPS.

The Enjoy 9 Plus models 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage + 4 GB RAM are respectively priced at 1,499 Yuan (~$217) and 1,699 Yuan (~$245). The pre-sales of the smartphone have already started from today. The 64 GB Enjoy 9 Plus will be available for buying from Oct. 20 whereas the sales of the 128 GB edition will begin from Oct. 25. The color variants of the smartphone include Sakura Pink, Sapphire Blue, Magic Night Black and color gradient Aurora Purple.

Huawei Enjoy Max specifications, features and pricing

The Huawei Enjoy Max smartphone is fitted with a behemoth IPS LCD display of 7.12 inches. The waterdrop notch on the display allows it to produce Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2244 pixels. The display of the Enjoy Max is also approved by TUV Rheinland. The handset measures 177.57 x 86.24 x 8.48mm and weighs 210 grams.

The Enjoy Max is fueled by Snapdragon 660 chipset. Like the Enjoy 9 Plus, the Enjoy Max also comes in 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage + 4 GB RAM flavors. The phone is loaded with EMUI 8.2 based Android 8.1 Oreo OS and it features a microSD card slot for more storage. It is packed with a massive battery of 5,000mAh capacity.

The rear panel that houses a fingerprint scanner also features 16-megapixel f/2.0 aperture + 2-megapixel f/2.4 aperture dual camera setup. The waterdrop notch is the home for 8-megapixel f/2.0 aperture front-facing camera. The other features of the phone include Dolby Atmos support, Histen 5.0, dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2, microUSB, 3.5mm audio jack and GPS.

The pre-sales of the smartphone have started in China. The 64 GB Enjoy Max will be available for purchase from Oct. 20 whereas the 128 GB variant will go on sale from Nov. 1.

Nokia X7 front and rear design revealed ahead of launch

HMD Global has recently launched the Nokia 7.1 smartphone and it has a scheduled another launch event on Oct. 16. Recent reports have revealed that the Finnish firm will be launching the Nokia X7 with notched display design through the upcoming unveil event. Previous teasers had only revealed the appearance of the vertical dual camera setup. Following are some of the new teasers of the upcoming Nokia phone that reveals its front as well as rear designs.

The new teasers of the alleged Nokia X7 reveal that it features a screen with a wider notch. The notch houses a front-facing camera and an earpiece. The bottom bezel of the phone is slightly thick, and it carries the brand name of the company.

The handset’s appearance on Geekbench benchmarking platform has revealed that it is powered by Snapdragon 710 chipset. The Huawei Mate 20 series will go official tomorrow. Multiple reports have revealed the entire specifications and appearance of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones that are slated to go official tomorrow. A poster that confirms the key features of the Huawei Mate 20 series is doing rounds on Weibo.

China Smartphone market registers record decline in Q3 2018

As predicted by the Analysts, the Chinese smartphone market is on the decline this year. After a continuous decline in the last quarter, Chinese smartphone makers witnessed another record decline in the Q3 2018. As per the recent report from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the domestic mobile phone market is down by 11.7% in comparison to the same time last year. Further, the market witnessed a decline of 19.7% on a quarter-on-quarter basis.

In Septemeber, around 95 devices were launched which is about 26% less than the same period last year and 65.5% on a quarter-on-quarter basis. Most of the smartphones that have launched are 4G based and caters around 70% of the devices manufactured. Approximately, 18 3G mobile devices were launched in the same span of time.

Similarly, 4G smartphones garnered 94.8% sales accounting for 37.012 million units. While 2G and 3G sales remained at 10000 units and 0.8 million units respectively. The decline can also be seen on the 2G and 3G smartphone sales as they have slumped 22.6% and 529.9% respectively. In the same period, 2G sales remained 49,000 units, down 90% in comparison to the past year.

In total, 635 new phones were launched since the start of this year. Out of these, 144 models were 2G compatible, and 488 models were out there with 4G support. This year, only a single 3G compatible device launched in China.

Overall, since the starting of this year, the domestic smartphone shipments reached 305 million which is down 17% year-on-year basis. Out of the total 305 million sales, over 276 million units were of local brands while international brands, majorly Apple generated remaining sales.

Most of the sales are garnered by the top 10 manufacturers in China which includes, Xiaomi, Huawei, Apple and Samsung. Over 92% of sales were constituted by these manufacturers, which is an 8% increase in comparison with the same period last year.

Last month, along with the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max, Apple also announced its new-generation smartwatch — Apple Watch Series 4. Now, it is available for pre-order in India through online marketplace Flipkart as well as Apple Authorised Retailers.

The 40mm GPS model is priced at Rs. 40,900 (approximately $553) while the 44mm GPS model costs Rs. 43,900 (approx. $594). The GPS + Cellular model is priced at Rs. 52,900, which roughly converts to $715. The company will start shipping them from 19th October.

For health-related features, along with a new accelerometer and gyroscope, which detects hard falls, there’s also an electrical heart rate sensor that can take an electrocardiogram (ECG)using the new ECG app. The ECG app takes advantage of the electrodes built into the Digital Crown and new electrical heart rate sensor in the back crystal.

It comes with a speaker that is 50 percent louder and has been optimised for phone calls, Siri, and Walkie-Talkie. The microphone on the smartwatch has been relocated in order to reduce echo for better sound quality. As per the company, all health and fitness data is encrypted on-device and in the cloud. It seems Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 launch date is nearing as the company president, Lin Bin has announced about it on Weibo. He says that it is incomparable with a whole new concept and will release in October. Asus has received position response in the Indian market for its Zenfone 5Z flagship smartphone and Zenfone Max Pro M1 mid-range phone. Now, after the success of both those devices, the Taiwan-based company is now all set to launch new devices in the Indian market.

ZTE delivers Android Oreo update for Axon 7 with issues

ZTE Axon 7 is the company’s most popular device launched in May 2016. It has received proper updates and security patches since the past couple of years. Recently, ZTE started pushing the Android Oreo-based update for Axon 7, but it carried some issues. As per some users, these are the same issues that have been found in the beta version which was rolled with July Security patch a few months ago.

It seems ZTE didn’t rectify few issues in the beta build and rolled out the stable build to all the ZTE Axon 7 devices. It resulted in app crashes, overheating problems and users are having difficulty with connectivity. It also lacks support for the Daydream VR in the latest so-called “stable build”.

Recently, ZTE faced sanctions from the US government which restricted the company to operate in the mainstream market. As now the sanctions are lifted, ZTE has launched the Axon 9 Pro and has started testing the software builds in open beta.

The stable build is not available for download via OTA, and you need to sideload it via SD card. Surprisingly, you have to wipe your data and install the update on ZTE Axon 7. Well, it is quite strange that ZTE is rolling the stable update without an OTA support. Some users are reporting that the update brings an encryption issue which doesn’t decrypt the data on device’s partition irrespective of what pin was entered.

After launching the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite smartphone in the previous month in China, the Chinese manufacturer had hinted the global release of the smartphone. Recent reports claim that the company is prepping up to launch the Mi 8 Lite phone in Taiwan. It is likely to hit the country during the Single’s Day 11.11 (Nov. 11) sales period.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite also known as Mi 8 Youth Edition is one of the first Xiaomi phones to sport gradient colors such as Twilight Gold and Dream Blue. It is also available in Deep Space Gray color in the home market.

Nokia 3.1 Plus TENAA listing appears, China launch could be very near

In the previous week, HMD Global had launched the Nokia 3.1 Plus smartphone in India. Soon after its Indian launch, the smartphone that bears a model number of TA-1117 was spotted on the website of China’s TENAA telecom authority. The specifications of the smartphone is yet to appear on the TENAA listing, but it does include its images.

The Nokia 3.1 Plus TENAA images show that the handset is equipped with a tall aspect ratio display at the front. The back panel of the phone features a vertical dual camera setup followed by an LED flash and a fingerprint reader.

As far as the specifications of the Nokia 3.1 Plus, they have been already through its Indian launch. It is a slightly advanced version of the Nokia 3.1 phone that was announced in May.

The Nokia 3.1 Plus is fitted with a 6-inch IPS LCD display that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9 and HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It measures 159 x 76.4 x 8.2mm and weighs 180 grams.
