Xiaomi Laptop Coming Early Next Year, Will Compete With Apple Macbooks

We have seen the startup smartphone maker Xiaomi grow into one of the top manufacturers in the world. The company has aggressively expanded its product lineup in the past couple of years, with new launches like smart shoes, smart air conditioners and even a water purifier. Now, the company is reportedly taking things to the next level, by launching a new Xiaomi laptop by next year. The report comes from Bloomberg sources from Korea, who states that the matter is still private.

xiaomi-notebook-pc-leak

The Xiaomi laptop is supposed to compete directly with the premium laptop lineups like Apple Macbook and Lenovo Thinkpads. Both these lineups are known for their premium quality built and high-end specs, so we hope to see a similar combination on the new laptop.

However, there could be one major difference in the Xiaomi made laptop. The company is known to make cost effective products, much cheaper than the competitors in the market. So, the laptop that launches next year could also continue with this tradition. This could further intensify the price competition in the premium market.

The report states that the new Xiaomi Laptop could launch early next year. Unfortunately, the report did not shed light on the possible specifications of the device. Also, we don’t know what operating system it will use in the new laptop. But given that its Android OS based MIUI is heavily customized, we can expect some customization in the laptop OS.

Xiaomi is reportedly in talks with Samsung for supplying memory chips for its upcoming laptop. This deal could further extend to displays, but we are not sure of that at the moment.

Pricing and other details are not available right now but if a Xiaomi laptop is really under development, we don’t have to wait too long to get more details about the device.

Stay tuned for more details!

Meizu ME5 Flagship Metal Chassis Leaked, Sports Headphone Jack At The Bottom

Meizu’s upcoming flagship code named ME5 has been making rounds on the internet for the past couple of weeks. We have seen benchmarks, leaks as well as a lot more other information about the new device. The most recent one was the leak wherein a Meizu model code named NIUX, probably same as the ME5 scored about 69,000 points on AnTuTu benchmark thanks to the Exynos 7420 chip inside.

wpid-wp-1441173424994.jpeg

Now a new leak via Weibo gives us a look at the Meizu ME5 flagship’s metal chassis. This does reveal some interesting aspects of the device like the placement of the headphone jack. Usually, manufacturers place the 3.5mm jack on top of the phone, which I consider is ideal. However, the leak reveals that the jack on the Meizu ME5 flagship will be located at the bottom, alongside the charging port. Given the high end status, the ME5 will most likely feature the USB-Type C instead of the traditional MicroUSB. Also, the port is said to support fast charge, most likely Meizu’s branded mCharge. We saw that mCharge could get MX5’s juice up to 25% in just 10 minutes. So, we can expect the same tech to end up in its high-end models.

wpid-wp-1441173437957.jpeg

The chassis isn’t too big, which probably means that the display is around 5.5-inch only. According to the previous leak, there were two different versions of the Meizu ME5, one powered by the Exynos 7420 while the other powered by the Helio X20 (MT6797). The latter is expected to be the high-end version. Other specs include 3GB / 4GB RAM, Mali-T760 GPU, 21MP Sony Exmor RS Sensor, 5MP front camera and 3500mAh battery. The ME5 is expected to run on Android 5.1.1 with Flyme 5.0 UI on top.

Overall, it looks like Meizu is targeting the premium high-end segment with its ME5 flagship. Of course, this also means a premium price tag, somewhere up of 3000 Yuan ($500). If these specs turn out to be true, we will have to wait and watch whether Meizu prices its flagship too high.

All Metal Lenovo Vibe P1 To Come In Two Colors: Gold & Silver

Last week, we had seen the all metal Lenovo Vibe P1 in its full glory. The company is expected to release the handset at IFA Berlin this month. However, even before that, upleaks leaked another picture of the Lenovo P1 flagship revealing that the phone will come in at least two color options, gold and silver.

Lenovo Vibe P1 colors

The phone’s design looks solid with a three step design and a body thickness of just 9.9mm. We call it just 9.9mm because the phone is said to feature a gigantic 5000mAh battery under the hood. That’s enough juice to last you a couple of days even with heavy usage. As for the weight, its a bit heavy but 189 grams is quite acceptable given the battery size.

Other specs are also quite good. The phone features a FHD 5.5-inch 1080p display with Snapdragon 615 processor under the hood clocked at 1.5GHz. This was according to a previous leak, but now it is being said that the phone may feature Snapdragon 616 instead of 615 when it releases in the coming weeks. In case you missed, there’s not much difference between Snapdragon 615 and 616, just the modem. Snapdragon 616 comes with the X5 LTE model which provides additional connectivity: LTE FDD, LTE TDD, WCDMA (3C-HSDPA, DC-HSUPA), CDMA1x, EV-DO, TD-SCDMA and GSM/EDGE.

The Lenovo Vibe P1 will feature 3GB RAM with 16GB of expandable internal storage. At the back, there will be a 13MP camera with dual LED flash. Up front, the phone will have a 5MP shooter. The phone supports dual card dual standby with the above mentioned connectivity options. There’s also a fingerprint scanner on board, but it will most likely be integrated into the phone’s home button.

As for the pricing, a retailer listing priced the Lenovo Vibe P1 at around $300. Lets wait for the official announcement from the company for more information.

Cubot H1($139) Will Feature A Gigantic 5200mAh battery which can Charge Other Gadgets

cubot h1

We have seen plenty of smartphones from Cubot in the past few couple of months. The company has drastically changed its design in the recent models, with the ones like the Cubot X11 and the Cubot X15 featuring stellar built quality and design. Now, Cubot is back in the market with a brand new smartphone called as the Cubot H1.

cubot h1

The highlight of the Cubot H1 will be its monstrous 5200mAh battery. We still don’t have many smartphones which can boast of such a large battery. And with this much juice under the hood, you no longer have to worry about charging your phone for days. In fact, Cubot H1 can be used as a power bank as well. Yes, you can use the 5200mAh battery on board to charge other devices using a OTG cable, a nifty feature to keep all your gadgets running throughout the day.

cubot h1

What’s even more interesting is that the phone supports fast charge. This means that you can get up to 2 hours of talktime with just 10 minutes of charging the device. Using a 5V / 2A charger you can reportedly charge the device in about half an hour to 100%. With the full 5200mAh charged, you can watch a video for 1.5 hours, watch online content for about 1.5 hours, browse for 25 minutes, attend calls for 20 mins and make about 1 hour of online calls. That’s a whole lot of usage that you can do in just a single charge.

cubot h1

Cubot H1 manages to fit in its large battery inside a pretty slim 9.2mm thin body. That’s less than a centimeter which is quite impressive. The overall body looks quite good, with a special texture at the back which shines subtly and gives you a good grip at the same time. Up front, the phone features 2.5D curved glass, which has become somewhat a standard among premium devices.

Specs wise, apart from the battery, the Cubot H1 is a mid-ranger. The phone features a 5.5-inch HD 720p IPS OGS display with 84% NTSC Color Gamut. Under the hood, there’s the MT6735P 64-bit chip clocked at 1GHz and 2GB of RAM. For storage, you have 16GB inside with the option of further expanding using a MicroSD card.

To sum up, the Cubot H1 is an ideal smartphone for those who would like a mid-range smartphone with a gigantic battery. The phone is expected to retail for around $160.

Meizu’s New Flagship Scores 69,000 Points On AnTuTu With Exynos 7420 Inside

Ever since Meizu VP Li Nan confirmed that the company was working on a high-end flagship device, we have been seeing leaks about such a device. Earlier today, we came across yet another leak, this time with the code name NIUX. The device was spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark with high-end specs.

wpid-wp-1441105230781.jpeg

According to the AnTuTu listing, the NIUX model will come with Samsung’s Exynos 7420 chipset clocked at 2.1GHz. This isn’t surprising given that Pan Jiutang, a known analyst from IHS had earlier hinted that the new Meizu flagship will use this Samsung chip. To support this chip, the phone will come with 3GB of RAM and Mali-T760 GPU. There will be 32Gb of internal storage with no mention of a memory card slot. At the back, there will be a 21MP camera while up front, the phone will feature a 5MP shooter. As for software, the phone is said to run on Android 5.1. The screen size is known but it comes with FHD 1080p resolution.

wpid-wp-1441105527150.png

Interestingly, this NIUX model is said to be the lower end version. So, there’s a higher end version as well, but we don’t know the specifications of that device. Possible upgrades include 4GB of RAM, larger storage (64GB?) and a higher resolution display, possibly 2K.

The leaked NIUX Meizu model managed to score 69,000 points on AnTuTu with 3D graphics score of 21158. That’s comparable to the existing Galaxy S6 flagship. Also, given that this is the lower end version, we can expect even better scores on the higher-end model.

So what do you think about this particular NIUX Meizu model? Would you be willing to spend about 3000 Yuan for a device with such specs?

Android Wear Smartwatches Now Compatible With iOS Devices

Up till now, Google’s Android Wear powered smartwatches were restricted to Android devices only. Not surprising since Apple Watch is only compatible with iOS ecosystem. But it looks like Google is taking the high road by finally unveiling the Android Wear app for iOS devices as well. This brings a lot of new compatible devices to the Android Wear powered smartwatches, opening a majority of iOS devices to the platform.

AndroidWearforiOS

Google has stressed that the iOS experience will be “similar” to what the Android users get. However, since Google doesn’t have control over the iOS ecosystem like it does with Android, you can expect a few differences. But majority of the features like Google Now cards, rich notifications and voice commands will be available to iOS users connected to the Android Wear powered smartwatch.

Although officially, Google has said that LG Watch Urbane and all future Android Wear powered smartwatches will be compatible with iOS devices, users have reported that many old Android Wear smartwatches like LG G Watch, G Watch R and Moto 360 too are compatible with the app.

The supported iOS devices include iPhone 5, 5S, 5C, 6 and 6 Plus, provided they are running iOS 8.2 version or higher. These devices can download the app from the App Store and easily connect their Android Powered watches to their devices.

However, as mentioned above, the additional four colors will only be available for the China Mobile edition. The other version starting at 899 Yuan will only have one color, white.

xiaomi redmi note 2 flash sale

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 with all these color options does turn out to be a great budget option. But despite its budget price tag, the specs are of a powerful mid-ranger. The Redmi Note 2 comes with a 5.5-inch FHD 1080p display with MT6795 octa-core processor under the hood. There will be 2GB of RAM on board along with 16GB / 32GB storage options. Mysterious Pink Colored LeTV Smartphone Leaked

A few hours ago, LeTV’s CEO Jia Yueting announced that the company will keep a conference on September 7 to add some new colors for you to see. Judging from the statement, we can assume that the company will most likely unveil a special limited edition version of its devices at the event. And now, we might have our first look at the Pink Colored LeTV phone edition.

wpid-wp-1441083692186.jpeg

The new leak, which comes via Weibo shows a pink colored LeTV smartphone. From the image, it looks like the LeTV Max smartphone that was announced in April. So, the coming Monday, i.e. September 7, we might see the Pink colored version of the LeTV Max. This edition would be ideal for women who would like a premium phablet experience in a pretty color like pink. It is said that the phone will support all the three major carries in China.

Apart from the pink colored version, we might see a number of other editions too targeted at different users, because it doesn’t make sense to keep a special conference just to unveil one particular limited edition model. Some say that we may also see a special announcement, which could be for a new phone. Remember, a few weeks back, LeTV Hong Kong Facebook Page released a teaser about an upcoming Snapdragon 820 powered LeTV smartphone? Well, we could possibly hear more about this phone at the event. But for now, the company has been quite about its new device. So, lets wait for the official announcement before getting too excited.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 May Feature Dual OS: Windows 10 + MIUI 7?

A few weeks back, a leading IHS analyst, Pan Juitang had said that the new generation Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will most likely run on Windows 10 OS and will release sometime in the third quarter of 2015.

xiaomi-mi-tablet-windows-10

Since then, we have heard a couple of times about the new generation model supporting both Windows 10 and Android Operating systems. So, in such a scenario, users can use both Windows 10 as well as MIUI 7 on a single device.

xiaomi mipad 2

Now, Xiaomi has officially released a new teaser on Weibo, with the words, Xiaomi Mi Pad x 2 = ????. Considering this teaser, it looks like Xiaomi will announce the new Mi Pad 2 tomorrow. Although the “x 2” in the teaser could mean second generation, but given the way its presented, it may also hint at the possibility of dual OS support.

We have seen small time manufacturers like Teclast, Vido and Ramos highlight dual OS support for their tablets, but major manufacturers still are reluctant to include two different OSes in a machine. So, it would really be exciting to see if Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 provides dual boot support.

However, we may not see the new Mi Pad 2 as early as tomorrow. If we consider the tradition, often the first teasers from Xiaomi are for the date of the launch event. So, tomorrow we may just see an announcement from the company about a new product launch event.

Anyways, this does confirm the existence of a new Mi Pad version. So, lets patiently wait for more information later tomorrow.

Second Gen Moto 360 To Come In Two Sizes, May Feature Snapdragon 410

We all loved the first generation Moto 360 smartwatch, particularly because it was one of the first round smartwatches in the market. But ever since the companies understood that a round watch is much more popular than a square one, we have seen a shift in the market. Even startup Chinese companies like No.1, have released round smartwatches.

Moto 360 versions

Now, the second generation Moto 360 launch is around the corner and we have more details about the device. According to the latest information, the new round Moto 360 smartwatch will come in two sizes. Motorola is also expected to reveal different colored version of the watch. Apart from the new color and size options, there’s hardly any drastic design changes. The only major one was shifting the physical button to the 2 o’clock position.

kmkdV6P

As for the other specs, the new Moto 360 watch is said to feature Snapdragon 410/ 412 processor with 512MB RAM and 4Gb of internal storage.

The second gen Moto 360 smartwatch is expected to be showcased at IFA Berlin next month. So, lets wait till then for more details on the new watch from Motorola.

Xiaomi Mi4c Retail Box Leaked, Reveals Snapdragon 808 & USB Type-C

Back when Xiaomi announced the Xiaomi Mi4i, we were all surprised to see that there was no domestic version of the device. Later, TENAA listing and leaks confirmed that a special version of the Mi4i, domestically called as the Xiaomi Mi4c will come to China in the coming weeks.

xiaomi mi4c leaked box

Now, we have more information about the device, thanks to a new leak which shows off the retail box of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi4c. The leak reveals most of the specifications of the device. Thanks to TENAA, we already knew that the Mi4c will feature a more powerful Snapdragon 808 hexa-core chip clocked at 1.8GHz. Other specs were expected to be similar to the Mi4i. However, today this leak reveals yet another surprise. The box states that the Xiaomi Mi4c will come with the new USB Type-C port instead of the traditional one that was used in the Mi4i.

xiaomi mi4c specs

It looks like the Chinese version of the Xiaomi Mi4i will be much more powerful and feature rich than the international model. Other specs are more or less the same. So, the Xiaomi Mi4c is expected to come with a 5-inch IPS display with full HD 1080p resolution. There will be 2GB of RAM on board along with 16GB of ROM, 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing one. Under the hood, expect a 3000mAh battery. The phone will come with Android 5.1.1 with MIUI 7 OS on top. The dimension are expected to be exactly the same as the Mi4i, 138.1 x 69.6 x 7.8 mm. Also, it should weigh just about 130 grams.

Interestingly, despite the powerful specs, the Xiaomi Mi4c is expected to retail for just 1,299 Yuan. That’s almost the same price as the international variant with the slower Snapdragon 615. It is said that the Mi4c will be announced in the first week of September.

LeTV 13,400mAh Power Bank Supports bi-directional Quick Charge 2.0

Since the launch of the three new models in the LeTV One series, we haven’t heard much from the company. The only exciting thing that happened recently was a teaser which revealed that the next LeTV flagship will come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 chipset. Unlike other Chinese manufacturers who soon jump into the accessories market for their flagships, LeTV is a bit late to the party. However, the company recently listed its 13,400mAh power bank on the famous Chinese retailer JD.com for crowd sourcing.

letv power bank new

The specs of the LeTV Power Bank are quite impressive. It comes with 4 LG/ Panasonic high density 3350mAh capacity batteries that take the total capacity 13,400mAh. There will two USB output ports with a maximum output power up to 20W. The highlight of the LeTV Power Bank is that its supports bi-directional Quick Charge QC 2.0 specification. This means, you can charge the power bank at high speed as well as charge your smartphone at high speed.

let power bank 001

The bi-directional QC2.0 supports fast charge at 9V/ 2A or 12V/ 1.5A. It is said that it takes only about 4.5 hours to completely charge the 13,400mAh power bank to its full capacity, using a QC 2.0 charger. Also, when charging other devices, if it supports QC 2.0, then you can charge about 55% of the phone’s capacity within 30 minutes. In case you are wondering, Nexus 6 and Mi Note support QC 2.0.

The company has even given reference to the capacity of the power bank. You can charge the iPhone 6 4.5 times, the LeTV Max 2.5 times and the iPad Mini 2 times with this 13,400mAh capacity power bank.

The company has not revealed the official price tag of the LeTV Power Bank, but expect it to retail between 100 Yuan and 150 Yuan.

Leeline WT10 is the world’s first ever rugged tablet that can run both Android and Windows

rugged_tablet_windows_8.1

Chinese tech companies are striving to provide consumers globally with products that are not only affordable, but feature a high level of flexibility. Leeline WT10 happens to be such a product that is not only fast, but it also flexible in the sense that it is the world’s first rugged tablet that can either run Windows 8.1, or Android 4.4.4.

While most tablets are sensitive mobile products, Leeline WT10 has been constructed to hold out against the elements by featuring a rugged chassis. In short, the outer casing of the mobile device will protect its internals and screen when it is dropped or scrapped against a rough surface. Leeline WT10 does not disappoint in the hardware specifications department either, since its 10.1 inch screen renders a resolution of 1280 by 800 pixels.

Additionally, the large screen slate is also running Intel’s Baytrail-T Z3735D/F chipset, which is running a quad-core processor at 1.33GHz (the clock speed can go up to 1.86GHz, depending on which chipset model you end up purchasing). Apart from the quad-core processor, 2GB RAM is also running plus 32GB of internal storage. When we said that the tablet is a very flexible option, we meant it.

Not only is Leeline WT10 incorporated with a microUSB port, it also features a completely functional USB 2.0 port and an HDMI port. Perhaps its biggest selling point is the fact that its processor supports both Android and Windows, allowing you to choose which operating system can run before it is shipped out to you. Currently, there is no information on whether or not the Windows 8.1 version will be upgraded to Windows 10, but if it does, it will have another selling point added to the list.

There is also a docking station that can not only charge the tablet, but it also features 3 USB 2.0 ports and an RJ45 Ethernet port for connectivity purposes. As for the battery capacity, there is a 9,000mAh removable cell present at the rear side of the tablet along with a 5/2MP camera sensor combination that will provide a nice solution for video calling purposes.

Despite the fact that it possesses such a high price tag, we believe that Leeline WT10 is honestly the perfect solution that we have seen from a tablet so far. Not only does it support running Android, or Windows, but it is also rugged windows tablet, has a large battery capacity, and a full flesh USB 2.0 port. If you can handle the price, then this tablet should definitely be your next purchase.

Right now OnePlus says it is much more prepared and the company has very ambitious plans in the smartphone business. But is the second generation OnePlus really a 2016 flagship killer? Let’s find out.

We wanted to say thanks to Giztop.com for providing us with the OnePlus 2 review unit.

OnePlus 2 Review: CONCLUSIONS

IMG_2269
So there you have it, the OnePlus 2, the most hyped Chinese smartphone of the year.
We can see a significant improvement in the build quality over its predecessor simply because of the choice of materials and overall the device looks and feels like a premium phone.
Also, the phone brings some welcome additions like a fingerprint scanner, mute switch, OIS, laser auto-focus and so on.
While the OnePlus 2 has a top-notch processor and some other bleeding-edge specs, and it handles the most graphically intensive tasks without a sweat, the day to day usage suggests that UI needs some more polishing.
The device has a great camera for daylight images but it still needs some software optimisations for a faster shutter speed, low-light images and video recording.
So is the OnePlus 2 a 2016 flagship killer? If you don’t care about the price of the device, which starts at just $329, then no. If you consider the overall package and the price ratio, OnePlus 2 can be a tough competitor for each and every big player in the smartphone game. However, it may become so only when quiet a few software related issues are fixed. Knowing the level of dedication OnePlus has and the story of its predecessor, it sounds very realistic.

New LG Nexus 5 2015 Render Confirms Earlier Design

We have been seeing a lot of leaks about the two upcoming Nexus devices this year, one made by LG and the other made by Huawei. Both the handsets are expected to feature unique design with powerful specs at least according to the initial set of renders and leaks that we have heard. Now, we have come across yet another render of the LG Nexus 5 2015, much clearer and better than the pictures leaked before. This particular render comes to us via the known leakster OnLeaks.

lg-nexus-render-640x330

As you can see from the picture above, the design looks similar to the real life pictures of the handset that we saw in the past. There’s the camera hump along with a fingerprint sensor just below it. We can even see dual LED flash and some other sensor (probably Laser Focus) on the side.

LG-Nexus5-2015-4
LG Nexus 5 2015 Case Leaked by OPPOMART

The only major difference between this render and the earlier leak is the lack of the Nexus branding at the back. The real life image of the LG Nexus 5 2015 came with a large Nexus branding on the back shell, which is missing here. However, considering that this is just a render, it possible that the maker didn’t consider it important to include it in the image.

As for the specs, the LG Nexus 5 2015 will reportedly come with a 5.2-inch QHD display, Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor, 3GB RAM, 13MP camera with OIS and Laser Autofocus, 5MP front facing shooter and finally Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box.

A new rumor says that the LG made Nexus will debut on 29th of September, which gives us exactly one month till launch. However, we haven’t heard any official announcement or invitation from the company, so lets wait for something more concrete.

Meizu Router Patent Applicated Leaked, Coming Soon?

We have seen couple of smart routers from Xiaomi, including a 1TB version. Given that most manufacturers tend to follow Xiaomi, it won’t be surprising to see a router from Xiaomi’s closest rival, Meizu. And now, a known leakster from Weibo, KJuma has just released a few set of images which is reportedly of the patent application of the Meizu router.

9846815egw1evi80h4ez2j20lv0k4gmm

The Meizu router is supposed to feature a similar design to Xiaomi’s smart router. However, its more of a cuboid rather than cyclindrical. The sides are not as round as the Xiaomi router, but the company’s design may have been partially inspired from Xiaomi’s device.

9846815egw1evi80huk4ij20rm0kaq3f

It looks like all of the buttons and the ports are at the lower region of the router. The other sides are most likely clean.

Unfortunately, at this juncture, we have no other information about this Meizu router. But given that the company has applied for patents, we can expect to see more information in the coming days
