Meizu M2 Note Review: One of the Best Budget Smartphones Today [VIDEO REVIEW ADDED]

Everyone knows Meizu, a Chinese manufacturer, which makes affordable, yet great smartphones but it does not have a huge market share like Xiaomi or Huawei neither in its homeland nor internationally. Still, this smartphone maker produces some really great phones and this time around we are looking at the Meizu M2 Note.

We wanted to say thank you for Giztop.com for providing Meizu M2 Note for a review.

Meizu M2 Note Review: UNBOXING

a nice packaging with all the contents packed neatly

The box is quite a nice looking and all the items are packed neatly. The contents include the instruction manuals, charging plug (2A), USB cable and a fancy SIM ejector pin with Flyme logo on it.

Meizu M2 Note Review: DESIGN and DISPLAY

a good display. great build quality and design. If you do not care that it looks like a bigger iphone 5c

IMG_0810

This time I want to talk about design starting from the back side of the device. The reason may be clear for the majority of users but if you still don’t know why, the Meizu M2 Note has a very similar design to the iPhone 5C.

Other than that the back is made out of glossy unibody plastic material and it naturally attracts fingerprints and smudges. However, since my review unit is in white colour, they are not that visible.

On the back side you can find 13MP camera with dual tone dual LED flash and the Meizu logo on the bottom side.

IMG_0812

On the front side you can find a 5.5″ 1080p display, which has 403PPI.

The display is pleasing to the eye. It is sharp, vivid and the colours look natural but just a tad on the colder side, which I actually prefer. Anyway, you can easily adjust the colour temperature in the settings menu to suit your personal taste. In addition, the panel is bright enough to be visible outdoors under direct sunlight. Also, it has great viewing angles, which is typical to the majority of LCD panels. Overall, you would not think that you are looking at the display of a budget device from China.

IMG_0793

On the front top there is a non-customizable notification LED, earpiece and 5MP front facing camera.

IMG_0791

On the bottom side there is only a physical home button, which is very clicky and responsive. Also, if you just tap the key, it serves as a back button. I got used to it immediately and I can say it is very convenient and you can basically do a lot of thing with just one finger.

IMG_0801

IMG_0802

The glossy plastic continues to each side of the device and on the left you can find a volume rocker along with the power button. Honestly, I prefer at least a power key on the right side. Anyway, there is a double tap to wake gesture, which works fine, so you may not even need to use this button a lot.

IMG_0805

On the right there is tray, which can be removed with the included PIN ejector. The tray takes a nano SIM card and the microSD card slot up to 128GB for storage expansion. Finally, a Meizu device with the ability to expand storage on the cheap!

IMG_0806

On the top left corner you can find a headset jack along with the noise cancelling mic.

IMG_0803

Finally, on the bottom side there is a main microphone, micro USB charging port and a single speaker grill.

IMG_0795

To sum up, the device is very well built, feels great in the hand despite its 5.5″ display. Honestly, the overall construction, look and feel may be even better than some devices that cost over $300.  The only complaints I have is that the power key is on the left side and the fact that the device is made out of glossy plastic (some people like it though), which attracts fingerprints and smudges. I suggest you getting a white or any other light colour since all the dirt is not that visible.

Meizu M2 Note Review: UI

a nice looking, sleek and fast ui with lots of unique gestures that work great

As usual to the Chinese smartphones, there is no app drawer, so all the apps sit on the home screens.

The Meizu M2 Note runs the FlymeOS 4.5.1 on top of Android 5.0 Lolipop. It is a highly customised ROM and it is pretty hard to tell that it is Android. It has a lot of inspiration from iOS but I guess that’s ok.

Still, you can easily download a third party launched like Nova if you don’t like the Flyme OS UI. However, I could not make Google Launcher work on this device. It may be possible to do it after rooting it but this is what you have to deal without rooting.

I love the gesture controls on this device. You have to swipe from the bottom to access your recent apps. You can choose to either open it up or swipe up to close. However, you cannot just clean all the running apps.

Swiping down anywhere on the screen brings a quick access menu along with the notifications window. I found it very convenient to use.

There are tons of different apps and customisation options like themes and wallpapers. In addition, all the apps are running smoothly and have a nice flat design. However, the Chinese version of the ROM has some Chinese apps, so you may want to remove it.

The smartphone has tons of gesture controls and they work like a charm. These features are one of the best implementations I’ve seen on any smartphone (including high-end flagships). E.g. Double-tap to wake or swipe up to unlock the display are the features that  I use most and they are faster that on majority of smartphones.

In addition, the SmarTouch feature provides you with even more gesture controls. It takes time to remember all the gestures but once you do it, it is a great way to control your device.

IMG_0809

Overall, I really enjoy the Flyme OS and how fast and fluid it is almost all the time. In addition, I love the design and overall look and feel of it. The variety of features, settings, tons of gesture controls and customisation options makes this device stand out from the crowd of budget devices. Finally, if you don’t like the Flyme OS you can just simply install a third party launcher.

Meizu M2 Note Review: PERFORMANCE

not a bencmarks champion but performs good in reality

Meizu M2 Note does not impress on benchmarks but it is not the worst either.

Graphically intensive tasks like 3D gaming work fine but there are some skipped frames and graphics don’t look that stunning like on the flagship devices. Still, there are no hiccups or lags and you can still enjoy gaming without paying for the top of the line flagship smartphone.

However, you have to make sure you go to settings and switch from a balanced to a performance mode to avoid a bit laggy experience.

As far as heat dispersion goes, I have no complaints. Just a normal rise of a temperature, nothing out of ordinary or uncomfortable.

Meizu M2 Note Review: MULTIMEDIA

a great device for multimedia consumption. Stock video and music player apps are a pleasure to use

All the multimedia options like 1080p video playback, music player etc. work fine. In addition, I love the design and feel of both music and video players.

Moreover, the loudspeaker quality is actually pretty good for a budget device. It lacks a bit of depth to the sound but it can play music quite loud.

Meizu M2 Note Review: CAMERA

A great and responsive camera app that has taken a bit of inspiration from ios

The camera app is a bit iOS inspired as you have to swipe to choose from different a shooting modes like auto, manual, beauty, panorama, slow-mo, scan and so on. In addition, there are some settings to play with.

The shutter speed is fast and overall using this camera app is just a blast.

Meizu M2 Note Review: IMAGE QUALITY

awesome camera for a budget smartphone

Meizu M2 Note has a 13MP camera, which is capable of producing some awesome looking images in the daylight. There is plenty of detail, colours look natural (although sometimes they may look a bit colder). In addition, even the dynamic range was quite good most of the times.

Once you take camera indoors it can still produce some good looking images. When there is no enough light, a bit more noise kicks in. Still, these are good looking images. In addition, the shutter speed remains fast indoors.

These are the night pictures but the objects I took pictures of were well lit. Naturally, the low light shots have much more noise and the level of details goes down. Still, these are great results for the budget device.

The 5MP front facing snapper is also a decent performer both indoors and outdoors. However, the colour reproduction is not consistent or it’s just my skin looking different inside and outside the house.

Meizu M2 Note Review: VIDEO QUALITY

Just average video quality

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGeAx4ewsao

The video quality is just average. The level of details could be definitely better and the whole footage could look sharper. On the other hand, colours look natural and auto-exposure seems to be working okay. However, there is no continuous auto-focus on board. Anyway, I haven’t seen anything better in this price range of smartphones.

Meizu M2 Note Review: CONNECTIVITY

connectivity options work fine but wifi range could be better

Call quality is good and GPS lock speed is very fast. Also, Wifi connectivity is great but it could have a bit better range. Nothing major but it is just simply not on par with top of the line devices I have reviewed.

Meizu M2 Note Review: BATTERY LIFE

good but not great

S50718-092544

The battery life is great. It will get you through the day if you are a heavy user but won’t play 3d games all the time. If you are an average user, the device will last you a few days.

However, the standby time is for some reason poor. There were 10% less juice in 8 hours of standby time and there was no Wifi or any other battery consuming apps left in the background. Something is squeezing out the battery and it may be due to software.

On the other hand, I ran a Geekbench 3 battery test and it was impressive. I got over 10 hours of screen-on time with auto brightness and dim screen featured turned off in the test. However, the test results did not save and therefore I could not provide a screenshot but I will update this section soon (do I really need to run the test again to prove it?).

UPDATE 07.20:

As promised, I ran Geekbench 3 test again and this time I could save the results as usual. However, I made it a bit more tricky for the battery but closer to the real life: I left the Wifi on, left a phone where signal reception was not the best (3 out of 4 signal bars), apps, which are always syncing like Gmail and Facebook. Also, the the brightness was set to auto and dim screen feature was set to off on the test. Finally, the Meizu M2 Note still managed to get almost 8 hours of screen on time, which is really impressing for a budget device!

Meizu M2 Note Review: CONCLUSIONS

A GREAT SMARTPHONE THAT IS DEFINITELY WORTH EVERY PENNY

IMG_0808

So there you have it, Meizu M2 Note. It is an outstanding budget device overall. I really admired the design (once you forget about the looks of the iPhone 5C) and the built quality. Also, it feels great in the hand despite the fact that it has a 5.5″ display. Speaking of which, it is a brilliant panel to look at.

The smartphone carries a really great specs sheet, which delivers in reality. Well, it is not a benchmarks champion but you are not going to be using the device for benchmarks on daily basis either.

IMG_0796

One of the key features is the camera, which I believe is one of the best in class. You can definitely take it for your holiday trip to shoot stunning daylight images and even good looking photos indoors. The low-light shots are still possible if you don’t mind extra noise and a reduced amount of details.

Overall, Meizu M2 Note is a great choice if you are looking for a budget device, which is built well, has a great design and awesome camera but you don’t want to spend a pretty penny.

We wanted to thank Giztop for sending Meizu M2 Note for a review.

Zopo ZP330 Color C Unboxing and First Impressions

Zopo seems to be renewing its smartphones portfolio lately. They have just announced their new flagship smartphones – the Speed 7 and the Speed 7 Plus along with a smartwatch. Still, the manufacturer did not forget about its budget line of smartphones and this time around we are looking at a very affordable Zopo ZP330 Color C. Let’s see what we’ve got.

Zopo ZP330 Color C Unboxing

IMG_0959

The device comes in a very compact box, where you can find all the items squeezed in tightly.

IMG_0970

The device comes with a usual set of accessories, which include a power plug, USB cable, instruction manuals. In addition, you are getting a pair of cheap headphones.

Zopo ZP330 Color C Unboxing: DESIGN

IMG_0976

The device has a very compact 4.5 inch IPS Screen, which makes the whole device a very tiny smartphone.

IMG_0977

The device is made completely out of plastic but the build quality is actually good. All the parts like a back cover, a plastic frame etc. sit tight and do not make any wobbling noises.

I have this device for a fews weeks actually but I did not have time to review it. Still, I played with it for some time it seems that the overall UI performance is good (although I did not install a usual bunch of apps I usually do).

As far as overall look and feel of the device, well, it sells for more than $100, so I would love to see a metal frame instead of plastic. In addition, the power key does not have a great tactile response  and it feels mushy.

On the other hand, I’m keeping a final judgment on this device for a full review treatment.

In any case, you may want to check out the product page if this smartphone got your interest already.

Ausdom M06 review

For $50, Ausdom’s M-06 Bluetooth headphones could be one of the cheapest wireless headset at it’s level.

ausdom-m06-side-v2-640x427-c

The obvious assumption for everyone would be that a lot of money is needed to afford high quality wireless headphones given the average market price today. In fact, most of these valuable gadgets go for $150. When Audsom M06 was first mentioned, many would not have expected a lot from it, given that the brand is relatively new. No so today because recent tests on these Bluetooth headphones have revealed otherwise. Not only do they meet expectations in regard to sound quality and price balance, but also do they feel comfortable to use for long periods. Having fulfilled minimum expectations on sound quality, we give it a pass as an acceptable low-cost option for those looking for Bluetooth headphones.

Out of the Box

The device is light in weight and comes with only a fewer accessories: a 3.5mm cable for connection and a micro USB charging cable. You get relieved from having to carry a case, adapter and carry sack. The M06 is certainly worth the price given that the sound quality is acceptably reasonable and the rigid plastic frame lasts for longer.

While many companies are trying to impress on appearance and fashion, Audsom doesn’t: so the M06 will not impress those obsessed with fashionable items. Or rather, the company is not trying too hard to. However, those who understand the benefits of not having too much attention such as when commuting, will find the device worthwhile.

Comfort

The M06 feels comfortable over the ear even when used for a long period. You will not experience any fatigue after a long period of listening music. The ear cups, which are almost equal in size to those of Bose QC25, fit on most ears. The device exerts a relatively slight clamping force on ears and you can easily forget that it is even there, thanks to the nicely crafted padding on the ear cups. However, since the slight force means that the headband must cover a wider space in order to clamp on the head; those with narrow heads might experience some soreness after using the device for some time.

The only bad side with the M06 is its adjustability and fit. The headband is slightly hard to fit in and initially feels a bit sticky and clunky to move. You will require some additional effort to find the right fit.

Hardware/wireless

Audsom M06 incorporates all the control buttons on the bottom of the two ear cups. You can easily access the power, volume, play/pause, and skip track buttons, but the challenge is it is hard to differentiate them as they feel the same on fingers. It means you might have to remove the headphone to make sure you press the correct button, but that might unplug the music source device. However, one can memorize the location of each button with continued use. The buttons are thus hard to use, and it will be easier to control the music from the source device.

M06 comes with a 400mAh Lithium-ion battery that lasts for 20 hours according to the manufacturer. The battery lifetime, however, goes down to 16 hours when the music volume is higher. The battery status will show on an iPhone 6 thanks to the use of the latest Bluetooth chip iteration.

ausdom-m06-controls-v2-1500x1000

Sound

Although the treble sparkles slightly, it does not make the overall sound quality offensive on ears. Vocals are clear, although the midrange is a bit low. The bass is not deep but can still be heard. The sound quality is just sufficient on the dynamic range.

Some people will raise a concern with the “one-note” quality experience on the upper bass/low midrange, which makes the bass a little bit “punchy” on ears. The experience comes on almost all music genre played, although again, it does not make the overall sound quality offensive on ears. Others will find it fine given the device is only 50 bucks worth!

M06 works pretty fine on albums such as Home by Garrels, and you can hear many plucking of strings.

The device however falls short on noise isolation because the ear cups do not afford a good seal around the ears. Since some sound waves can get in and out through this seal, you can hear people’s voices when using the device in crowded places – the M06 Bluetooth headphone does not do well on sound dampening. However, they are nice to use on quiet environments – the sound is clearly audible.

ausdom-m06-side-angle-full-v2-1500x1000 (1)

Conclusion

The device exceeds expectations in regard to matching quality and sound – you get a good sound quality for as low price as 50 bucks, and getting a light weight wireless gadget at that price is even more of a bonus. Bad noise isolation and poor looks is all you have to bear with when using this device. However, it fits those looking for a low cost wireless headphone that is not offensive on ears and doesn’t attract much attention.

OnePlus Claims OnePlus 2 Is The ‘2016 Flagship Killer’!

We all know for sure that OnePlus will announce its new flagship, the OnePlus 2 on July 27 (July 28 in China). While the phone comes with pretty good specs, enough to compete with any other smartphone in the market right now, the company is apparently marketing the phone as the 2016 Flagship Killer.

oneplus design

Yes, it looks like the company is too enthusiastic about its upcoming flagship, enough to be calling it the flagship killer of 2016. Given that we already know a lot about the new OnePlus 2, thanks to the teasers and confirmations from the company, the specs aren’t good enough to compete with 2016 flagships. In fact, in a few months time, even Snapdragon 810 would be replaced by a much faster and efficient (hopefully) Snapdragon 820.

So, why would the company be calling it a 2016 Flagship killer? Well, either we still don’t know a lot about the OnePlus 2 (a high-end edition?) or its all a hype to get fans excited. But then, the phone is going to cost less than $450, so what all high-end features could they have incorporated in such a limited price tag? I guess, we will have to wait for the official launch day to get these answers.

oneplus partners

What the company did reveal is a bunch of partners who have supplied components for the new flagship. The list of brand names include Texas Instruments, Samsung, Qualcomm, JDI, Toshiba, Mitsumi etc.

Whatever the case maybe, we just have to wait for a couple of weeks more to get official details. Until then, stay tuned for more updates.

Huawei Honor 4A To Be Unveiled On July 21, Could Be A Music-Centric Device

Huawei has been aggressively expanding its affordable Honor lineup this year. Its just been around two weeks since the company unveiled its brand new all metal Honor 7 flagship in China. Now, it looks like there will be yet another launch, this time, the Honor 4A on July 21.

honor 4a teaser

The unveiling will take place at the Beijing Galaxy Soho in China, during the Huawei Summer Whirlwind festival. The Festival starts on 21 and goes on till July 23rd. Apparently, a couple of Chinese artists will also be present at the event. Plus, we can see a some musical instruments too on the Honor 4A teaser, which could mean that the phone may have some music-centric features.

During the Festival period, the company will be offering a number of discounts on its existing products. Huawei has not revealed exactly what offers and discounts you’ll get, but it might be a good time to buy your favorite Huawei device from China.

As for the Honor 4A, we have no idea about its specs or pricing. But, given the naming scheme, could it be a direct competitor to the Redmi 2A? If that’s the case, expect at least a 5-inch 720p display, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage and an 8MP camera on the device. Pricing should be around 599 Yuan.

Well, since the unveiling is next week, we don’t have to wait too long to get official details. We will keep you guys updated if we come across more info.

Xiaomi Unveils Mi Water Purifier Which Lets Your Smartphone Track Water Purity

For the past few months, we have seen plenty of smart products from Xiaomi. Just a few weeks back, the company unveiled a trio of smart products like a bedside lamp, Wi-Fi Amplifier etc. Now its back expanding the smart products lineup with a brand new Mi Water Purifier.

mi water purifier

While this is a totally different niche for the company as compared to smartphones, tablets and other accessories, it isn’t that surprising. Remember, back in December, the company unveiled the smart Mi Air Purifier? Also, we have heard rumors about a water purifier from the company in the past, so, it was only a matter of time, the product was finally made official.

mi water purifier 04

Coming to the actual Mi Water Purifier, the design language is synonymous with the recent smart home products from the company. Its simple, elegant and looks great in white. Xiaomi has paid special care to reduce its overall size, to make it more compact and user friendly. In fact, its a great device to have even for renters as you don’t have to make any permanent changes in your room for using it. Just connect the pipe to your traditional tap and you are good to go. Moreover, you can track the water quality, directly from the companion smartphone app.

The Mi Water Purifier uses reverse osmosis to clean the tap water. It can reportedly filter sediments, rust and other particles, thanks to the four different filters inside namely PP Cotton filter, 2 x activated coconut carbon filter and a RO membrane. The RO membrane removes metal, bacteria and other organic substances from the water. Finally, in the post filter stage, the activated coconut carbon fiber reportedly improves the taste of water.

The Xiaomi Mi Water Purifier will be available in China from July 28 for 1399 Yuan ($225).

Xiaomi Unveils Mi TV2S With 48-inch 4K Display & 9.9mm Aluminum Frame

Remember the past couple of teasers where Xiaomi said it would unveil something slim? Today, the company has finally unveiled that slim product, the 9.9mm 48-inch Xiaomi Mi TV2S. The 48-inch TV comes with all the latest features to stay ahead of the competition.

电视 净水器发布会716(d).104

The 48-inch display sports a resolution of 4K. The company has particularly paid special attention to the TV’s body. It features a super slim 9.9mm aluminum frame and comes in a number of colors like pink, blue, green and even gold. So, it looks like the company is trying to attract the younger generation with this new TV.

Other features include Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi ac support etc. The TV runs on MIUI TV version based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

OnePlus 2 Will Come With Dual SIM Dual Standby Support

OnePlus One was a well balanced device, but it did have some drawbacks. The flagship killer came with a single SIM card slot, which could have been a deal breaker for many. Given that most smartphones come with at least or sometimes even three SIM card slots, limiting to one SIM slot wasn’t a great idea.

oneplus 2 dual sim

But it looks like the OnePlus 2 will feature dual SIM dual standby. The company CEO, Liu Zuohu confirmed on Weibo that the new flagship will support dual SIM card slots. Unfortunately, we still don’t know whether there will be a microSD card slot too. We will even be happy to see a 3 in 2 Micro SIM + Nano SIM/ MicroSD card slot. But we are not sure of that at the moment.

oneplus 2 dual sim card

Almost all the other specs have been confirmed, except for the display size and resolution. The OnePlus 2 will come with Snapdragon 810 v2.1, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, 13MP rear camera with laser autofocus, USB Type-C port, fingerprint sensor and a new designed body (probably all metal).

The company will unveil the flagship on July 28, but expect a few more info before the launch. Meanwhile, you can check out all the things we know about the OnePlus 2 from this article.

Meizu M2 Launch Invite Comes With Nokia 1110 Inside!

Yesterday, Meizu sent out a teaser with the words “the long era of 1110”. Given the timing and the way it was written, we thought the company was going to announce some kind of partnership with the Finnish company, Nokia.

meizu m2 invite 02

But it looks like, the company was trying to say something about its new smartphone launch, which will take place at an event on July 29. Earlier today, the company sent out invites for the event and inside each invite was the mighty Nokia 1110 phone.

meizu m2 invite 01

It looks like Meizu is trying to tell its fans that the new Meizu M2 will be a classic device like the 1110. This Nokia phone sold in plenty, thanks to its super cheap pricing and this is probably why it sent out Nokia 1110 inside its invites. Well, we expect the pricing to be cheap, around 599 Yuan, to directly compete with the Redmi 2A. Also, note that on starting up the Nokia 1110, you will see the date 7.29 but you won’t be able to make calls or messages with the device.

meizu m2 invite

As for the specs, Meizu M2 had hit TENAA recently. It came with MT6735 quad-core chip clocked at 1.3GHz, 2GB RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, 5-inch 720p display and a 13MP camera. The phone had a 2450mAh battery on board. As compared to the first generation Meizu M1, the new model would upgrade in areas like RAM, Storage and CPU.

Well, according to the latest teaser, you can expect to see this launch on July 29. Stay tuned for more details.

Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro is Now Available Only for $129 at Gearbest

Xiaomi does not need any introduction whether you live in China or outside of it. The company is one of the best selling smartphone maker in the world and their one of the latest offerings in the budget portfolio may be one of the answers why.

It has become quite usual for the Chinese companies to release a regular model and then make some slight improvements and release a PRO variant. So what kind of specs does it make this device carry the PRO moniker?

1435791616119-P-2793407

The device spots a 4.7″ 720p display. Moreover, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro carries a 64-bit  Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chip, which is clocked at 1.2GHz. In addition to this, it has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage via microSD card slot (manufacturer declares up to 32GB but usually these devices also work with 64GB cards as well).1435791616747-P-2793407

Other specs worth mentioning are 2MP/8MP camera combo on the front and back, respectively. Also, there is a dual SIM card slot and with the 4G network support. Last but not least the device is running Android 4.4 (with the possibility of receiving Android 5.0 Lolipop update soon) and a 2200mAh battery is keeping the lights on.

1435791616004-P-2793407

As far as design goes, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 Pro would not make other people stare at your device and ask what kind of phone it is. However, it was not made with the design in mind but with a focus on specs and very low price tag.

1435791616969-P-2793407

So this is what Xiaomi believes is a PRO model in the budget devices category. Of course, it’s our choice to decide but given the fact that the company has built a great reputation of producing some high quality smartphones for a low price, this model should be no exception.

Finally, considering the specs this device has, the $129.99 price tag sounds like a bargain.

Yesterday, Mr. Brownlee revealed that OnePlus 2 will come a 13MP sensor at the back with Laser Autofocus. If you remember, this tech was first debuted by LG on its G3 flagship and improves focus times to a great extent.

According to the camera review, OnePlus does have a decent rear camera. The 13MP manages to capture clear and sharp pictures with almost accurate color reproduction. The focus times in particular were impressive, thanks to the laser autofocus tech. There are a number of camera options such as Clear-Shot, HDR and Beauty mode. As for the video shooting, the phone is capable of recording videos in up to 4K resolution. You can even take slo-mo videos at 720p.

Overall, it looks like OnePlus 2 will have a capable rear camera. Nothing out of the ordinary, but good enough to satisfy your camera needs.

Meanwhile, you can check out all that we know about the OnePlus 2 from this article.

QQ图片20150714162036 (1)

A new Sub brand has today been seen, the brand is named ‘Trunk’ and for those of you that have not figured it out yet, a closer look at the leaked pictures clearly shows the Elephone logo.

The phone in the pictures is said to come with a 5″ display (resolution not confirmed), a Snapdragon SOC (spec not confirmed), and a Samsung rear camera (resolution not confirmed), the phone will be available in a selection of colours white, black, mint green, baby blue and pink, this should make it a popular choice amongst fashion conscious teens and people that love to co-ordinate.

Out of the box the phones will run Android Lollipop 5.0, as yet we have not been told if this will be a stock version or contain a modified version to set it apart from Elephones main line of phones.

QQ图片20150714162042

Sub brands are becoming popular amongst China phone companies, allowing the to differentiate between their premium based higher end/spec models and those aimed at the lower to mid tear or emerging markets.

Recently we have also seen this happen with Lenovo and their release of the ZUK brand, its a trend that will hopefully make for better choices for mobile users.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the phones and sub brands in general, what are your hopes? affordable phones with lower specs? higher specs but plastic bodies? smaller screened phones say 4.7″ – 5″
