Lenovo Z90-7 (Vibe Shot) hits TENAA, supports full network connectivity!

Lenovo unveiled a surprise product at MWC 2015, the all new camera centric Lenovo Vibe Shot. Now, it looks like the Chinese variant of the device, the Lenovo Z90-7 has just hit TENAA revealing pictures, specs and connectivity details.

lenovo z90-7

TENAA reveals that the specs of the Chinese Vibe Shot will be a bit different than the international version. For example, the 5-inch display on the front features just HD 720p resolution in the Lenovo Z90-7 model, however the international model boasted of a full HD 1080p resolution. The phone will be powered by a 1.7GHz eight core processor, which could be the Snapdragon 615. However, considering the full network connectivity support, we suspect, it could be the new Mediatek MT6753 octa-core SoC based on Cortex A53 cores. This Mediatek processor supports full network connectivity, which means support for GSM, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, CDMA, TD-LTE and FDD-LTE networks. You also get Dual SIM dual standby on the device.

lenovo z90-7 2

Other tech specs are also pretty high end. So, the Lenovo Z90-7 comes with 3GB RAM  and 32GB of expandable ROM. Since this is a camera centric phone, you get a powerful 16MP rear camera sensor with triple LED dual tone flash. At the front, you get an 8MP shooter ideal for selfies. The phone runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Lenovo Vibe 2.5 UI on top. There will be a built-in 2900 mAh battery on board to power all these specs.

3lenovo z90-7 2

The Lenovo Z90-7 i.e. the Vibe Shot looks like a solid offering from the company. The phone is extremely well built, featuring a 7.8mm thin body and weighing just about 148 grams. The back of the device especially looks good with the metal strip highlighting the powerful sensor and the triple LED flash.

The international variant of the Lenovo Vibe shot was priced at $349, which comes to around 2163 Yuan. So, we can expect the Lenovo Z90-7 too to be priced around this figure in China.

So what do think about the Lenovo Vibe Shot? Priced appropriately?

htc one m9 plus 15

The latest leak reveals the full promotional images of the HTC One M9 Plus phablet. You can clearly see the writings in Chinese which explain the intricate details of the upcoming device. The company particularly highlights the design and workman ship of its new device. For example, one of the picture says “the quality of the metal is as good as silk”, while another says “the phone reveals elegant shine”. So, it looks like the company has put in a lot of efforts to design the new product.

htc one m9 plus 7

Another important fact revealed by these images is the physical home button. Yes, like we saw in earlier renders, these images too confirm that the HTC One M9 Plus will have a physical home button in between its boom sound speakers. What’s more it is rumored that the button could feature a fingerprint sensor.

According to earlier rumors, the HTC One M9 Plus will feature Snapdragon 810 processor in one version and MT6795octa-core processor in another. New Images of the Huawei P8 Flagship emerge!

We have been eagerly waiting to see the Huawei P8 flagship for some time now. Recently, the company confirmed that the device will launch on April 15, which is now only a few days away. But before the launch, we have come across plenty of leaks to give us some idea about the upcoming device. Even today, we have three alleged pictures of the said Huawei P8.

huawei p8 1

These images show off the smooth metal frame around the body. In one picture, you can even see the camera sensor with dual LED (dual tone) flash. The power button seems to be different, placed a bit inside into the body. This could be because it is said that the Huawei P8 will incorporate a fingerprint sensor in the power button. While we are still not 100% convinced that this will be the case in the new flagship device, still it would be interesting to see such a placement. Overall, from what we can see, the device looks premium and well built.

Coming to the specs, the phone is rumored to come in two versions, one aluminum alloy version and the other made out of zirconia ceramic. However, both the versions are expected to feature a unibody design. As for the tech specs, the phone will reportedly run on Huawei’s Kirin 930 processor with 3GB RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. There will be a 5.2-inch display with full HD 1080p resolution. For camera, there will be a 13MP shooter at the back and a 5MP shooter up front. Finally, a 3000 mAh battery will power all these tech specs.

The Huawei P8 will be announced on April 15 at the company’s official event. The phone will be released around April 22 in the Chinese market for an estimated price tag of 2999 Yuan.

We expect more details real soon.

Ulefone Be Pro users need to be patient says company, Android 5.0 is coming soon

Ulefone had claimed that they would release Android 5.0 at the end of February. However, the company reportedly faced some issues in development and it was not as smooth as expected. Hence, Ulefone had to delay the launch of the new Android Lollipop update.

ulefone Ube Pro Android 5.0

At present, we have come across some videos which show that selected users are testing out the Android 5.0 update for Ulefone Be Pro. So, we could see the Lollipop update pretty soon.

Even Ulefone’s official mutual help group has confirmed this news. In fact, it is said that Ulefone is now busy fixing BUGS in the update.

ulefone be pro 2

So, those who are worried about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update on their Ulefone Be Pros, we guess you need to be a little more patient. The company has said that a beta version of the Android 5.0 update for the device will be released as soon as next week. So, the final launch should be close by.

Ulefone Be Pro was one of the popular Chinese handsets in the past few months. The device sports a design like the OnePlus One and even features great specs for its sub $170 price tag. In fact, one of the highlights of the Ulefone Be Pro was its Android 5.0 Lollipop. The Be Pro was one of the first Chinese handsets to promise Lollipop to users and it looks like they will get the update pretty soon.

We don’t think this is a big delay since there are many big manufacturers who have not yet released Android 5.0 updates for their flagship products. But its good to see that the Ulefone is ready to provide an update of how things are going at their end.

And after this official news, we feel that you could get the Android 5.0 update on your Ulefone Be Pro real soon.

Redmi 2A Unboxing and Comparison with the Regular Redmi 2

redmi 2a unbox 9

Xiaomi unveiled the all new Redmi 2A, which is now the cheapest smartphone in the market from the company. However, there isn’t much price difference between the regular Redmi 2 and the Redmi 2A. The latter just costs 100 Yuan less than the Redmi 2, which is still a great achievement since the entry level model was super cheap to begin with.

So, today, we take a look at what you may have to sacrifice in the Redmi 2A as compared to the Redmi 2 which is 100 Yuan costlier. If you read our earlier post, you would know that Xiaomi is offering the 2A at just 499 Yuan on April 8th which is the day of the Xiaomi Rice festival.

Anyways, in this unboxing we take a look at what the Redmi 2A offers for its cheap price.

First of all, the box is exactly the same as the Redmi 2. So, you will find it extremely hard to distinguish between the two without taking at look at the model number information given at the back.

Redmi 2A and Redmi 2

Once inside, you will realize that its again the same as Redmi. Even the charger is of 5V/ 1A. So, no major differences there.

Coming to the looks, the Redmi 2A and the Redmi 2 looks identical. You won’t be able to guess which one is which just by looking at them. So, it looks like despite the price difference, both the models use the same design, body and material.

redmi 2a unbox 5redmi 2a unbox 6

redmi 2a unbox 7

redmi 2a unbox 8redmi 2a unbox 10

So, in reality, both the models are very similar to each other. There are only a couple of major differences like the processor under the hood and the network connectivity features which justify the 100 Yuan that you have to shell out for the Redmi 2.

But even the Leadcore L180C quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz is quite capable as shown by the AnTuTu Benchmark test. Other specs are the same as the Redmi 2, so you get a 720p 5-inch display, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front shooter and 2200mAh battery. However, the 2A supports just three mode baseband instead of the five-mode on Redmi 2.

Meizu M1 and M1 Note getting Lollipop in June, even MX3 and MX2 will get the update!

We know everyone is excitedly waiting for lollipop update on their Android smartphones, and today, we have some information about the Meizu’s release schedules for existing devices.

meizu android lollipop

The company has decided to roll out Android 5.0 to the earlier devices first. So, Meizu MX4 Pro’s Android 5.0 update based on Flyme 4.5 has already entered beta testing. The final version will be available to download by the end of April around 28th.

Even Android 5.0 for Meizu MX4 has a similar testing and launch schedule. So, the ROM has already entered beta and will be available to download from April 28.

Interestingly, the recently announced Meizu M1 and M1 Note devices will receive Android 5.0 with Flyme 4.5 update only by the end of June. The ROM will enter beta testing at the start of the month.

meizu android lollipop update

Finally, its good to see that Meizu has not forgotten its old devices. Both Meizu MX3 and MX2 are confirmed to receive Android 5.0 update. Their ROMs will enter beta by the end of April, so you can expect the latest Android version on these devices by the end of May.

Its really refreshing to see that Meizu has not abandoned its old devices. These phones are more than 2-3 years old, and most manufacturers would have simply terminated updates for them. But Meizu has decided to gift its loyal users with Android 5.0, which we feel is a great move by the company.

So, what do you think about the Android 5.0 release schedule for Meizu devices? Is it a bit late? Or are you okay with a June Android 5.0 release for Blue Charm devices?

Upcoming Xiaomi smartband will feature one touch mobile payment powered by Alipay!

Huami announced earlier today that it was working with AliPay to develop a next generation Xiaomi smartband that will incorporate one touch mobile payment solution. This is the same company that manufacturers Xiaomi’s Mi Band.

Xiaomi Mi Band
Xiaomi Mi Band

The idea here is simple, the smart band has to be connected to the smartphone. Now, when the user goes near any of Alipay’s clients, the payment will be enabled, without having to enter any password. This Xiaomi smartband will truly change the way users make payments at retail outlets, further increasing the speed at which they pay up for goods and services.

As mentioned above, a connection to the smartphone is required for enabling payments. So, this Xiaomi smartband will act as the channel through which the client confirms the identity of the user. The band will be connected to the phone via Bluetooth and will communicate with it to verify his / her identity. Only then will it be able authorize payments made via the Alipay client.

alipay_logo

These companies further add that the new Xiaomi band will use industry standard encryption methods to secure the payment. Each user will be given a unique identifer which will identify the status of the user who has to make payments.

This is not the first time we are hearing about such a one touch mobile payment solution system. However, most of such products available in the market are not widely used mainly because its not very cheap. But Xiaomi band’s entry into the market with such a payment solution can truly change the way users make payments, at least in China.

Xiaomi products are trusted and used by millions of customers, so naturally, an effective one touch payment enabled Xiaomi smartband will be well received by fans in the country. Of course, we still can’t comment on the effectiveness or security of the device, as for that we will have to try it out ourselves.

But what do you think about this smart band one touch payment solution? Will you trust Xiaomi or any other company with your financial details?

New Oppo R Series Smartphone Makes Appearance

It seems that the 3D technology is coming back at least in a the mobile industry. We are not talking about any 3D video effects or movies. It looks like it has become a trend to implement rounded or curved glass, which is given a high-sounding name – 2.5D or 3D glass. It is nothing new, but given the fact that the newest iPhone with its “seamless” display helped to set the trend.

What is more, all the trend has lead to the fact that this type of glass has become cheaper  to produce. One of the manufacturers, which thinks this is the way to go is OPPO as the new R series smartphone makes the surface.

Screenshot 2015-04-01 16.32.53

As far as design goes, this new R series model is very similar to the previously announced R1C model. The profile is sleek and slim, and it is surrounded by a metal frame. The device features a 5 inch screen with the 1080p resolution panel. The chip inside is the oct-core Snapdragon 615 along with the 2 GB of Ram. There is no info regarding storage, but we presume there should be at least 16 GB with the ability to expand it via Micro SD card slot. What is more, the device will spot a 13mp camera on the back (most likely Sony sensor). In addition, the device will have to SIM card slots, both capable of 4G connectivity.

Screenshot 2015-04-01 16.33.02

Finally, there is no word on the release date, pricing or international availability. Knowing the fact that Oppo is already selling devices in the Western world, we may also expect this or a bit modified version outside Asia.

Dual Screen YotaPhone 2 soon to launch in China – Passes TENAA

YotaPhone 2 is a phone with dual screen. It has a normal display on front and an e-ink display on the back. The phone is made by Yota, a Russian company  and it has been successful in many countries so far. Finally the Yotaphone 2 will be releasing in China, as the phone just passed TENAA.

The Yotaphone 2 is equipped with a Snapdragon 800 processor, with 5 inches 1080p display (back e-ink screen is 4.7 inches), built-in 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space body. It comes with a 2.0 megapixel front camera and a 13MegaPixel rear camera and runs on Android 4.4 system.

Currently we have no idea about its cost but we don’t think Yota will try to compete with the prices of the existing Chinese OEMs like Xiaomi.

This time around IUNI has just officially announced a new “Miss Puff” (if the translation from the Chinese is correct) smartphone, which carries the model name I1. The rumored OnePlus Drone is real and you can buy it for just $19.99

Last week, we came to know that Oneplus was working on a new product for 2015. Later, we were almost convinced that the product was going to be a drone.

oneplus drone1

And today, the company has officially announced its new drone, the OnePlus DR-1. This isn’t a monstrous UAV like the DJI Inspire but its equipped with basic functions to let you have some fun.

Since flying drones is the new craze, people are often confused as to which one to buy. There are plenty of cheap yet good options available in the market right now, and Oneplus’s entry into this market just makes things more competitive.

And like always, the company offers this OnePlus drone DR-1 for an affordable price tag of $19.99. In this price, you get a four rotor drone weighing about 12.5 +-2.5 grams. There’s a 3.7V 100mAh battery which can charge to full in just 20 minutes and will provide flying times up to 8 minutes. Unfortunately, the lack of a camera is a let down, but at this price you can’t expect much.

You can check out some of the images from down below.

So, what do you think about the new OnePlus Drone? Would you buy this over other cheap drones just because its from OnePlus?

Times Have Changed Apple, Letv is Coming!

We have already heard all the buzz about something spectacular coming from the newcomer to the smartphone’s industry – Letv. One of reasons that keeps us waiting for the April 14th, when company’s event will be held, is that they may announce the mysterious bezel less “super phone”.

It seems that the company is not shy at all to strike directly at Apple as some posts by Chairman and CEO Jia Yueting suggest.

letv teaser from chairman post

letv teaser from chairman

This teaser seems to be a poster of the conference, where company tries to prove that their time has come to replace Apple. The post on Weibo sounds like “the times are changing, the role has changed, the same spirit! From 1984 to 2015 the Letv invites you to break boundaries”. The poster also confirms the launch date, which will be April 14, 14.00.

According to some previous reports, the Letv may even launch two “super phones”, one being a high-end, another being a lower-end version.

The year of 1984, which is mentioned in the poster is the year when Apple introduced the Macintosh, which managed to change the computer industry. As the poster further suggests, Letv is ready to change the smartphone (or maybe even some other?) industry in 2015. Pretty brave move we would say. Well, we just have to wait and see for will happen on April 14th if the products that will be released are worth all the buzz.

Huawei Kirin 930 SoC is built using the 28nm process and not 16nm!

Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin range of processors have come a long way since it first released in the market. Now, manufacturers as well as users are recognizing the potential of this new chipmaker.

Kirin 940/950 Processor Performance Huawei Ascend Mate 8

The company’s latest chipset in the market is the Huawei Kirin 930. Huawei recently revealed in a presentation that the Kirin 930 uses a modified version of low power consuming Cortex A53 chipset to boost performance. So, with the enhanced four Cortex A53e and four regular Cortex A53 cores, the Kirin 930 balances power and performance.

But ever since we came to know about that Huawei Kirin 930 was powered by all Cortex A53 cores, we were wondering whether the chipset was made using the efficient 16nm process.

huawei kirin 930 28nm

Now, Chinese Mobile Phone League Secretary General, Old Yao says that the Huawei Kirin 930 processor uses a 28nm process instead of 16nm TSMC process unlike earlier rumored. It is said that the upcoming Kirin 950 will use the 16nm process from TSMC. But unfortunately, the Huawei P8 which will launch on April 15 will use Kirin 930 chipset, so we may not see mind blowing performance from this smartphone.

So, what do you think about the Kirin 930 after reading this information? Are you disappointed or will you reserve your judgement until you see real life performance?

Redmi 2A benchmarks – Unbelievable results for a 599 yuan phone

Redmi 2A was showcased today in China with a price tag of just 599yuan / 96$. The price is very near to Redmi 1 which makes it a great buy. It has all the features of Redmi 2 but with better performance and built.

Specifically, Xiaomi Redmi 2A follows most design and configuration of Redmi 2, but the processor is changed from Snapdragon 410 to domestic LC1860, while the five-mode baseband is replaced to three-mode baseband.

LC1860 processor has a 4 + 1 core Cortex-A7 architecture, clocked at 1.5GHz, GPU for Mali-T628 MP2, theoretically CPU performance has decreased from Snapdragon 410, but GPU should have won.

When the Redmi 2A ws tested,It ran into 23351 points , and in our previous tests , Redmi 2 hardly crossed 20,000.

Redmi 2A is better than its sequel in every aspect except RAM management.

Of course, one can’t run a benchmark and determine the overall quality of a mobile phone, as Qualcomm’s platform stability, maturity and other aspects of the baseband should be better than the LC1860 platform.

Here are the pictures of the benchmark Results.
