In the past few weeks, Xiaomi has been busy rolling out both beta and stable builds of MIUI 11 to its devices. Today, the company has rolled out another beta MIUI 11 update for the Mi Mix 2S, but this time, it’s based on the new Android 10 OS. Also, the MIUI 11 9.10.25 beta build brings the latest October security patch to the device. 

Given that this is a beta build, Xiaomi recommends backing up your data before upgrading the Mi Mix 2S to the new version. Note that this particular beta version ( MIUI 11 9.10.25 ) could be buggy since it updates the device from Android 9 Pie to the latest Android 10 OS. The update log also mentions that there could be third-party compatibility issues. So, some apps may not function properly in this beta build. 

Also, note that the Mi Mix 2S received a stable release (MIUI 11.0.2.0) of MIUI 11 earlier this month, but it was based on Android 9. So Android 10 is available only in the beta release right now.

On Sept. 3, Google had rolled out the Android 10 update to its Pixel devices and some third-party phones including the Chinese edition of the Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro. Numerous Indian users of the Redmi K20 Pro are now claiming on a discussion thread on Mi Forums that they are now receiving the stable edition of the MIUI 10 based Android 10 upgrade.

The Android 10 update for Xiaomi Redmi K20 Pro in India brings along MIUI v10.4.8 QFKINXM. The size of the update is 2.2 GB. The changelog of the update states that it carries optimizations for 32-bit apps that reduces the rate of force close and a fix for random reboot on the handset.

The Redmi K20 Pro Android 10 update comes with dark theme, gesture-based navigation and ability to prioritize notifications according to the preferences of the user. Some of the other features that are included in the update are improved permission manager, digital wellbeing, front camera effects and more ambient display preset. Few of the naïve features like Smart Reply that are found on the stock edition of Android 10 are not available in the update.

Redmi K20 Pro Specifications and Features

The Redmi K20 Pro variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage are respectively priced at Rs. 27,999 and Rs. 30,999. The handset comes in Carbon Black, Glacier Blue, Flame Red and Pearl White color variants.

Google released the Android 10 stable update a few hours ago and while the Pixel phones are already receiving the update, they won’t be the only ones getting it today. Redmi is also rolling out the Android 10 stable update to the Redmi K20 Pro flagship.

Yes, the Redmi K20 Pro users are already receiving the Android 10 stable update in China (and also in India). The update is still based on MIUI 10 since MIUI 11 is yet to be announced but it is exciting news nonetheless. We are still surprised as Xiaomi just began recruiting testers for Android 10 only about a month ago.

The release date for MIUI 11 is still unknown but the day might be closer than we think. Today, the official MIUI account announced that the last MIUI 10 developer update will be released on August 30.

The official announcement revealed that there have been a total of 428 weekly updates since the first beta release back on August 16, 2010. The weekly updates bring new features and optimizations to each phone that is still supported.

According to the post, the last MIUI 10 developer update will arrive as version 9.8.29 and will be released on August 30.

MIUI 10 has brought a number of very useful features to Xiaomi phones and most of them have been based on AI. From Xiaomi’s Little Ants voice assistant to its AI bokeh effect that allowed phones with a single camera to take portrait photos to auto-detection of smart home appliances.

MIUI 11 is expected to bring more AI-based features. One of them leaked earlier this week, loosely translated to “Inter-finger call”, this feature allows the AI assistant to answer calls on behalf of the user. The conversation is transcribed for the user and suggested replies are presented. The user just has to select one of the replies and the assistant relays it to the caller by voice. The feature can be called Xiaomi’s take on Google Duplex. Unfortunately, this feature will most only be available in China.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro might as well be one of the least popular devices in the Redmi series. While it launched with a new design (notched display) and upgraded cameras (an extra selfie camera, larger apertures), the fact that it retained the processor of its predecessor – the Redmi Note 5 Pro, made it uninteresting to a lot of fans of the series. A new update is rolling out to the phone now and it brings Android Pie.

The phone, which launched in November 2018, ran Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with a planned upgrade to Android Pie in the future. The new MIUI 10.3.2 update rolling out brings the latest version of Android to the phone.

The update for the Redmi Note 6 Pro is 1.7GB in size. The changelog doesn’t actually say it brings Android Pie but the Android version changes after the update. Xiaomi launched its Poco F1 smartphone last year, running Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box and a new MIUI for Poco custom interface. In November 2018, the smartphone received the all-new MIUI 10 update which was also based on Android Oreo.

However, a couple of months ago, in December, the Poco F1 received a new update with Android 9 Pie operating system. Now, the device has received yet another update — MIUI 10.2.3.0, which brings February 2019 security patch and more.

Users of Poco Forum are reported that the device has started receiving MIUI 10.2.3.0.PEJMIXM update which is around 560MB in size. The update is based on Android Pie and also brings February security patch to the device but doesn’t bring Widevine L1 support to the device that was recently enabled in MIUI Global Beta ROM. The support for 4K 60fps video recording is also missing, which was enabled in a recent MIUI Global Beta ROM.

However, C Manmohan, Global Head for Poco, the smartphone will be receiving another MIUI Global Stable update in March to enable 4K 60fps support on the device. The new update for Poco F1 is being rolled out in phases and it will take a few days to roll out for everyone, but you can download the incremental zip and manually flash it.

To remind you of the phone’s specifications, the Poco F1 features a 6.18-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display which is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 processor and comes with LiquidCool technology.

It has a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor, coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor on the back panel. On the front side, there’s a 20-megapixel selfie camera powered with AI for capturing enhanced selfie shots.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 series began receiving the Android Pie update back in December. It already arrived on the Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition and now it is rolling out to the Mi 8 SE.

The Mi 8 SE is an upper mid-range phone powered by a Snapdragon 710 processor. Unfortunately, Xiaomi didn’t release it outside China. The update is rolling out as MIUI 10.2.2 and you can download it from the source link if you don’t want to wait for the OTA. You wouldn’t notice any visual changes since the device already runs MIUI 10 which is heavily customized.

Xiaomi has also slashed the selling price of the Mi 8 SE. The 6GB RAM + 64GB variant is now priced at ¥1599 (~$236) instead of ¥1699 (~$250). You can grab it at this new price on JD.com or on Xiaomi’s online store. The 128G version is sold at ¥1699 (~$250). The new price applies to all color variants.

The Mi 8 SE has a 5.88” FHD+ Super AMOLED display and covered with Gorilla Glass 5 on both sides. There is a Snapdragon 710 processor under the glass back and a 3,120mAh battery. It has a 20MP selfie camera and a 12MP + 5MP dual camera combo on its rear. It also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and support for face unlock, though it will do you good to know the latter isn’t secure.

A long-awaited update is finally rolling out on the Xiaomi Pocophone F1. After getting TWRP support, the affordable flagship from the first Xiaomi’s sub-brand is receiving a new MIUI 10 stable update which brings the number of version to v10.2.2.0. This update was long-awaited because it brings two important improvements to the camera. The first is the support to 960 fps super slow motion video recording which joins the 120 and 240 fps modes that were already available, while the second is a new night mode.

While the first feature will improve slow motion videos, the second will reduce the amount of digital noise in the dark and it will also improve the exposition by stitching 8 photos with different exposure levels. It is a completely new feature that was never tested on the Xiaomi Pocophone F1, so it will be interesting to discover how well it works.

The update includes the security patch for the month of December, not the last one but still a great thing for an affordable device. Previously, Xiaomi also hinted that the phone would get the support to 4K video recording at 60 fps, but the mode did not arrive with this update, so users will be forced to wait for the next one that should start rolling out in February. Xiaomi has today started releasing the MIUI 10 stable version update based on Android 9 Pie operating system for its Mi 8 series smartphones. Currently, the update is being rolled out to Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition while the users of Mi 8 UD will have to wait a bit longer.

As per the reports, with this update, the company is also introducing new features for improved camera experience, including Night Mode and 960fps slow-motion video recording. The short videos creating using 960fps slow-mo can be shared directly with friends and family via WeChat.

The Night Mode feature allows users to shoot clear images with as little noise as possible at night or in low-light areas. When you capture a photo in a low-light situation, it first detects the light and jitters through AI Smart Metering and automatically determines the exposure area. In each frame, it smartly selects 100 key feature points and fixes the color at the same time.

The MIUI 10 comes with several new features such as improved recent apps menu which is designed to better utilize the full-screen design on newer Xiaomi devices. Instead of arranging recent apps like a stack of cards, the app cards appear side by side on the screen, enabling you to see as much as six recent apps on the screen at one time.

Xiaomi says that the new MIUI makes use of artificial intelligence technology for “up to zero” loading times by studying your app usage behavior and anticipating actions. It also brings a new driving mode which relies on voice commands to avoid distractions.

OnePlus has always received excellent third-party development due to immense popularity and some OnePlus policies. This time also, OnePlus’s latest flagship devices are getting a lot of developer’s love in the development arena. Recently, Xiaomi’s MIUI 10 has been ported for OnePlus 6 and 6T devices. It’s seen rarely when an OEM ROM is ported to other devices. It’s quite impressive that OnePlus support in the development arena is extending across AOSP ROM to some third party OEM’s ROMs.

A senior XDA member, ProtoDeVNan0 has created a port of MIUI 10 for OnePlus latest offerings. The MIUI 10 port is based on Xiaomi’s 8.11.23 build of Android Pie. In order to install it on the OnePlus 6 or 6T, you should have OB8 or newer version. Currently, it is in earlier stages and we expect some more work to be done before it gets more stable.

Until now, few features are not working and it contains some bugs also. NFC is not working, and even the flashlight toggle is out of work. Though, users can use the third-party flashlight apps. Further, MIUI 10 stock camera app is out of work and users have to rely on the third party camera apps such as Google camera and OxygenOS camera. There are some bugs in the Alert Slide and Auto rotation feature. The Auto rotation toggle freezes your settings once touched.

Users won’t be able to use apps such as Netflix and Google Pay due to security concerns over unlocked bootloader.

The Mi 5s Plus was released back in 2016 as one of Xiaomi’s second slate of flagships for the year. It was also the first phone in the Mi-series to have dual rear cameras. A few months ago, Xiaomi began rolling out Android Oreo to the Chinese variant of the phone. The update should hit the global version too but right now, Xiaomi is rolling out MIUI 10 first.

The MIUI 10 global stable update is said to be about 1.4GB in size and brings a completely new look, Xiaomi’s natural sound system, portrait mode for the front camera, and a couple of revamped apps.

The Mi 5s Plus has a 5.7-inch FHD screen, a Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. Its dual rear cameras are a 13MP f/2.0 RGB sensor and a 13MP f/2.0 monochrome sensor while a 4MP sensor sits in front for selfies. The rest of its specs include a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a 3.5mm audio jack, a Type-C port, and a 3,800mAh battery.

Xiaomi has been pretty consistent in pushing the latest MIUI updates to older models. The Mi 5S which as released in 2016 is one of such models. The company has revealed via the MIUI Weibo account that the Mi 5S is receiving MIUI 10 stable updates.

The Mi 5S comes with its own unique features such as brushed metal back panel, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and others. So, the custom ROM will be specially developed to take into consideration the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Since September, Xiaomi has been releasing MIUI 10 Global Stable update for is smartphones. The POCO F1 was recently treated with MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM at the beginning of this month. Now the same update has been made available to Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X and Redmi Note 6 Pro smartphones.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro has released in few markets such as Thailand and Indonesia. Xiaomi users can now install the latest Google Camera app on their Xiaomi phones. The Chinese smartphone maker is rolling out a new update to its customized Android version, MIUI. Currently, the update MIUI 10 v8.11.8 beta is limited to China-based ROM, but we expect the support to soon rollout on Global ROMs also. Xiaomi has not given any timeline for global rollout featuring the support for new APIs. Particularly, Xiaomi has added a couple of new APIs and modules such as HAL3/Camera2API in the new MIUI build which allows the use of third-party camera apps such as GCam.

The MIUI 10 update has extended support for HAL3/Camera2API which is required by Google Camera app to run on any Android device. It seems due to increased demand for third-party camera apps, the Chinese smartphone maker has added support in their forked version of Android. Increasing features in the Google Camera app can be regarded as another reason behind the adoption by Xiaomi in the latest beta build of MIUI.

Google has tweaked the Google camera a lot and has made it unmatchable with lots of features. It can create a bokeh effect without the need of dual camera on your smartphone. Google has also refined post-processing of photos in the app. Google Pixel’s mind-blowing cameras also run on the Google Camera app.

MIUI 10 version 10.8.11.8 carries HAL3 which seems to be activated by default. So, now you only need to install a third party camera app, and it will be ready for use.

Until now, Xiaomi users have to use the GCam app partially with errors or either need to root their devices. Now, with the inception of the HAL3 support, you need not to root your Xiaomi device. You can directly use it by sideloading the Google camera app without following any long procedures.

As mentioned above, the MIUI 10 stable version is now available for second batch of phones in China only. To install, users can wait for the official OTA update to show up and install accordingly. Recently, Xiaomi’s senior official confirmed that the POCO F1 will receive the Android Pie as well the upcoming Android Q update. Within hours of that, the company has started rolling out the new MIUI 10 stable update for the POCO F1.

The MIUI 10 for POCO F1 is still based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system but it does come with the latest October security patch. However, do note that the update is being rolled out in phases, so it may take some time for the update to be available on your device.

Along with the latest Android security patch, the MIUI V10.0.4.0.OEJMIFH update, which is around 592MB is size, comes with all-new full-screen gestures and a new UI that’s tailored for the devices will full-screen display.

It also comes with new natural system sound which the company claims can help you relax and focus on what’s important. There’s also AI-based pre-loading which offers higher swipe response and an overall smoother experience for using MIUI.

To remind you of the phone’s specifications, the POCO F1 comes with a 6.18-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display which is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. The phone is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 processor and comes with LiquidCool technology.

It has a 12-megapixel Sony IMX363 primary sensor, coupled with a 5-megapixel secondary sensor on the back panel. On the front side, there’s a 20-megapixel selfie camera powered with AI for capturing enhanced selfie shots.

The phone comes with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage, depending on the variant. It runs on the company’s MIUI based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging.

Xiaomi’s new strategy of launching a budget-friendly flagship phone under the new Pocophone brand name has worked in favor of the company since the Poco F1 has received stupendous market reception in India. The handset was launched with MIUI 9.6 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo OS. It will be one of the first Xiaomi phones to be treated Android 9 Pie update along with MIUI 10. Folks at XDA Developers has come across the first MIUI 10 Global beta build with Android 9 Pie OS for the Poco F1 smartphone. Xiaomi is yet to confirm on the arrival of this beta build.

The publication has shared the following link to download the Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 beta build. As it can be seen in the below image, the Xiaomi Poco F1 running on Android 9 and MIUI 10 Global 8.10.30 beta. It also includes Android security patch for the month of October.

The new ROM can be installed by flashing it through the MIUI Updater app. To do so, one needs to download the ROM from the above link and then create a new folder with download_rom folder on Poco F1. Transfer the downloaded ROM to the created folder and then perform a data backup of the important files and folders on the device.

To install the Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 beta build, Poco F1 users are required to navigate to Settings > About phone > System update > Choose update package and then navigate to the folder where the MIUI 10 update file is present and then select it. The MIUI 10 update process will continue on its own and may take a maximum time of around 30 minutes to install it.

The publication has further stated that migrating from MIUI 9 Global Stable to the new beta build will result in loss of data. Hence, it is advisable to perform a data backup before installing the new software.

The Chinese manufacturer has promised that the Poco F1 will be blessed with Android Q update in 2019. Also, the handset is expected to soon receive an update that will bring support for Widevine L1 for HD streaming content from Netflix and Amazon Prime videos.

The Xiaomi Poco F1 has a notched IPS LCD screen of 6.26 inches that supports 18.7:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is at the helm of the device.

The notch of the smartphone is equipped with a 20-megapixel front-facing camera and an IR sensor for face unlock. The back panel of the phone is equipped with 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. It is packed with a 4,000mAh battery and carries support for 18W charging through USB-C. After rolling out the new MIUI 10 update for the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the China-based Xiaomi has now started rolling out the same update for the Redmi Note 5 as well.

The new update is MIUI 10.0.1.0.OEIMIFH and is around 455MB in size. It brings the latest September security patch for Android as well as several major features such as full-screen gestures, redesigned notification panel, improved multitasking management, among others.

The change-log related to the update reveals that the company has simplified system sounds and has also applied smart filters. It also brings AI-based Portrait mode to single camera devices which can blur the background.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 was launched earlier this year running MIUI 9.2, based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. A few months ago, the phone received an update of MIUI 9.5, which was also based on Android Nougat. Last month, the company released another update, which brought Android Oreo to the smartphone.

Redmi Note 5 comes with a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display having a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 625 14nm processor.

It comes with AI Dual Camera that features a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary sensor of 5-megapixel that captures depth. It comes equipped with features like dual autofocus, EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), HDR, Burst Mode and Panorama. It can capture amazing AI driven portrait shots by naturally blurring the background.

On the front side, there’s a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture along with a selfie flash to enhance low light snaps. It also features Beautify 3.0, selfie timer, and face recognition.

Just over four months after the MIUI 10 Custom ROM was announced in China, Xiaomi has commenced the roll out of MIUI 10 Stable ROM on the Mi 6 and Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is India’s own version of the Redmi Note 5 that was announced earlier this year. The disclosure of commencement of MIUI 10 Global stable on the Redmi Note 5 Pro was made by Xiaomi India’s head, Manu Jain via Twitter. While that of XIaomi’s 2017 flagship Mi 6 was announced on the MIUI forum.

Although Google has announced Android Pie, MIUI 10 is based on Android 8.0 Oreo. It has as its biggest upgrade the AI technology. But now, the latest reports suggest that even this device will soon be updated to the new Public Beta version of Xiaomi’s latest user interface based on Android Pie. However, the update is only applicable to the China Developer ROM and not the global one.

In this regard, Xiaomi will suspend the development of Android O based internal and public beta releases for the Explorer Edition. Expect the Android Pie based MIUI 10 update sometime late September.

If you adhered to the beta testing phase and installed the China Developer ROM, you will get the update through an OTA notification directly on your device, so you will be able to install it with one tap. Like many other smartphone manufacturers, Xiaomi‘s devices come with the company’s own custom UI which is based on the Android operating system. Having a custom user interface enables companies to offer features that are missing in the stock version of Android.

Xiaomi’s custom user interface, MIUI, comes with several features that are not found in the stock Android and now a new one has been introduced in the MIUI 10. The company has introduced a feature named WhatsApp Cleaner in the MIUI 10 Security App.

As the name itself suggests, the feature allows you to wipe WhatsApp-related files, including images, video clips, voice notes, documents, and GIFs, to free up storage on the phone. To use the feature, you’ll have to navigate to the Settings App > WhatsApp Cleaner.

Xiaomi is rolling out the new MIUI 10 Stable ROM update to the devices such as Xiaomi 8 SE, Xiaomi Mi MIX2, Xiaomi Mi MIX, Xiaomi Mi 6, Xiaomi Mi 6X, Xiaomi Note 2 and 6 other devices. MIUI 10 is based on Android Oreo 8.1.

Devices getting MIUI 10 Stable update

The update is rolling out to the 12 Xiaomi devices – Xiaomi 8SE, Xiaomi MIX 2, Xiaomi MIX, Xiaomi 6, Xiaomi 6X, Xiaomi Note 2, Xiaomi 5, Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A, Redmi Note 5 and Redmi S2. The testing for other devices like Mi 8, MiX 2S is not yet over as the soak tests are pending for them.

MIUI 10 Stable update is now rolling out via OTA (Over-the-Air) method to the devices. Users can directly go to the settings menu, then to system upgrades to manually check for the updates by clicking the “Upgrade Now” button. Users, who have installed the MIUI development version on their devices can also upgrade to MIUI 10 by following proper upgrade guide.

It is already available for Redmi Note 5, Mi Note 3, Mi 8 SE and Mix 2.

Xiaomi MIUI 10 Stable features

There are many changes that can be seen in the MIUI 10. It includes features such as a new UI with more vibrant and crisp colors, support for AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Internet of Things, new ringtones with more natural and pleasant sounds. The new UI is specially designed for the devices which comes with the full view display having display notch. There are some new swipe gestures for home, back and recent apps. As like vanilla Android 9.0, it also carries vertical volume slider rather than the traditional horizontal ones.

There are some performance improvements than the MIUI 9 version in the latest build.

The Android Oreo update for MIUI is now rolling out to the compatible devices. The update will gradually arrive on all the listed devices but will take some time to reach every unit.

Over the last couple of days, Xiaomi has been rolling out a stable version of MIUI 10 to its phones. It started with the Mi 6 and has hit the Mi 8 SE, the Mi MIX 2, Redmi Note 5, Mi Note 3, and Mi 5. If you are an owner of the Mi 8 Explorer Edition, then you will be happy to know it is the turn of your device.

The MIUI 10 update has started rolling out to the Mi 8 Explorer Edition. The update is 644MB in size and brings a number of new features such as a new navigation system for phones with a full-screen display, a new multitasking menu, a driving mode, and more. The update comes as version MIUI 10.0.4.0.OEHCNFH.

The Mi 8 Explorer Edition has a 6.21-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 2248 resolution and a notch at the top. It is powered by a Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

There are dual 12MP sensors on the back of the device and a 20MP front-facing camera. Unlike the regular Mi 8, the Explorer Edition has an under-display fingerprint scanner. It also has an IR face recognition scanner, dual-band GPS, and NFC. The Mi 8 Explorer Edition has a 3,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charger 4.0+ support.

Xiaomi is adding a new SOS feature to closed beta version of the MIUI 10 developer ROM. This feature allows users to contact a pre-defined number in case of emergency. The feature is currently available to five Xiaomi devices. In the near future, the feature will be also brought to other devices.

The SOS feature that has been added to developer ROM can be accessed by pressing the power button 5 times and then it will send the help information to the emergency contact number. As it can be seen in the image below, users can activate the feature by going to Settings > SOS > Emergency Help. As of this writing, the feature is available to devices such as Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi MIX 2, Mi 6, Mi 5 and Redmi Note 4X

By releasing the SOS feature through closed beta Xiaomi could be testing the feature on the first five devices in China. It will be soon adding the function to the developer ROM for all the Chinese models by the end of September.

In related news, Xiaomi is now busy with rollout process of stable edition of MIUI 10 to its various devices. After releasing the MIUI 10 stable edition for Xiaomi Mi 6, Mi MIX 2S, Mi 8 SE, Redmi Note 5 (Pro) and Mi Note 3, Xiaomi has now released the stable version of the MIUI 10 update for Xiaomi Mi 5. The version of the MIUI update that is now available for Xiaomi Mi 5 users is MIUI V10.0.1.0.OAACNFH. It weighs 634 MB.

The upgrade brings a new system UI designed for compressive full screen smartphones with notched screens and 18:9 aspect ratio displays. The MIUI 10 also includes visual upgrades for non-full screen smartphones.

Xiaomi had introduced the MIUI 10 during the company’s 8^th anniversary event that was held at the end of May. Apart from the new system UI, the MIUI includes natural and pleasant sound system instead of boring and monotonous ringtones. The new ROM is integrated with AI at the core level. The MIUI 10 also includes an improved Recent Apps menu and it includes Smart Home Manger to easily control smart home devices.

Now that the rollout of the stable version of the MIUI 10 has begun, many other Xiaomi phones are expected to get upgraded to it in September. Xiaomi first announced the new MIUI 10 Custom ROM during the Mi 8 launch conference held on May 31. In essence, the new ROM comes pre-installed on the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE and Mi 8 Explorer edition. Since then, the new Custom ROM has been rolled out to a number of eligible Xiaomi models but the ROM in question is the beta ROM. The first batch of beta ROM was released on June 19 and since then three batches have been released covering a total of 37 Xiaomi models. The Global beta was also made available recently for up to twenty different models.

Xiaomi has now started the rollout of the MIUI 10 China stable ROM and the 2017 flagship Mi 6 is the first to receive the OTA upgrade. The new upgrade includes Google August 1 security patch and the entire update package is about 589MB. Users of the Xiaomi Mi 6 in China may not be able to access the update just yet as it is a Stable beta ROM. Thus, the OTA update is being pushed randomly to select Mi 6 users. We expect the full rollout to happen in a short while.

 As would be recalled, MIUI 10 is based on Android 8.0 Oreo and it has as its biggest upgrade the AI technology. The AI technology on MIUI 10 brings deep learning and thus reduces the loading time of apps by studying your app usage behaviour and anticipating actions. Another advantage is that MIUI 10 brings single camera bokeh mode to old Xiaomi smartphones including Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi Note 2. The custom ROM also comes with a new driving mode, smart home gadgets manager and other features in addition to the existing features of MIUI 9. Xiaomi did schedule to release a new MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM for eligible devices today. Indeed, MIUI 10 Global Beta ROM version 8.7.19 has been released for up to 20 different models. The latest ROM brings fixes for several issues that were spotted in the previous releases. This is the second update the Chinese OEM is releasing in the space of a few weeks, having released MIUI 10 Global Beta 8.7.5 recently.

Top among the new fixes the update brings are translations in the security settings. There have been some reports of some content in the security settings not getting translated. This new update fixes that. It also fixes the clock error whereby the digits are not shown properly.. Xiaomi had announced a new Anti-Rollback feature that comes through MIUI 10 for the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro earlier this month. The new feature serves to restrict their downgrading. The new update also fixes issues with the Mi 5 which keeps the notification LED on when a new notification comes on the handset, without any of the usual blinkings.

In addition, the official changelog shows that the latest MIUI 10 Global Beta update has fixed the blur effect on the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro that was disappearing for some users after saving photos in the gallery. Also for the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, the update fixes the issue that was pushing the devices to ask users to log in when they enable sync messages from Mi Cloud in the Messaging app. The update also fixes the force close of a “security core component” that surfaces when holding the Menu key in the ‘Dual app’ search bar. However, it is yet to roll out on the Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro as the latest update is said to be currently suspended for both models.

The models that are eligible to get the new upgrade includes the Redmi 4X, Mi 5s, Mi Max 32GB/ 64GB/ 128GB, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi 4A, Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm Edition, Redmi Note 4X, Mi Max 2, Redmi Note 5A/ Redmi Y1 Lite, Redmi Note 5A Prime/ Redmi Y1, Redmi 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Mi 6, Mi Mix 2, Mi Mix 2s, Redmi S2, Mi 5, Mi Note 2, and Mi Mix. The download links for these models are available on MIUI forum.

For those who own compatible models and want to update their phones, it is advised that they backup their data before upgrading to MIUI 10. According to the instruction on MIUI Forum, if you’re already using MIUI 7, MIUI 8, or MIUI 9 stable ROM, you can update your handset to MIUI 10 using the fastboot method. There is a detailed instruction on how to do that on the MIUI forum. But in the case of users with models running MIUI 9 Global Beta ROM, the latest update can be availed by going to “settings” and then check for updates from the “About phone” section. Such users can also update compatible models using the Updater app.

On May 31, Xiaomi had announced the all new MIUI 10 ROM. At the beginning of June, it had rolled out the Developer ROM closed beta in China for first batch of devices and the same devices had received public beta by the end of the month. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has released the developer ROM closed beta to the second batch of devices.

The first batch of devices that were treated with MIUI 10 Developer ROM included Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, Mi 6, Mi MIX 2S, Mi MIX 2, Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Redmi S2 and Redmi Note 5. Since the registrations for the Developer ROM closed beta ended yesterday in China, the company has made it available to the second batch of Xiaomi phones starting from today. After the closed beta testing comes to an end, the public beta is likely to arrive for the same second batch of devices by the end of this month.

The second batch of 17 Xiaomi phones that are now receiving the MIUI 10 Developer ROM closed beta are Xiaomi Mi Note 3, Mi 5S Plus, Mi 5S, Mi 5X, Mi 5C, Mi 4C, Mi 4S, Mi Max, Mi Max Prime, Mi Max 2, Redmi Note 5A, Note 5A Prime, Redmi Note 4X (Snapdragon variant), Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi 5, Redmi 5A and Redmi 4X.

The company has stated that the arrival of the public beta of Mi 5X will be delayed. The specific release time for the smartphone will be announced through its social media channels. By this, Xiaomi is bringing the latest MIUI 10 to a total of 27 smartphones.

The MIUI 10 Developer ROM closed beta can be installed in two ways. Devices on MIUI 6, 7, 8 and 9 developer version can navigate to System Settings > My Device > MIUI version and then access the direct OTA update. It is recommended to back up devices on MIUI 6, 7, 8 and 9 stable versions are recommended ad then install the upgrade via fastboot with unlocked bootloader.

8 Xiaomi phones have started receiving a new important update. We are referring to the Global Beta of the MIUI 10, the latest Android customization by the Chinese company announced on May 31 together with the Xiaomi Mi 8 line-up. The new Global Beta has been launched in India on the Redmi S2 days ago, and now it is finally expanding to several other devices.

The new firmware brings the number of version to 8.7.5 and, given that it is the Global version, it contains Google’s main apps such as the Play Store. The Xiaomi phones updated to the new MIUI 10 Global Beta are Xiaomi Mi6, Mi Mix 2, Redmi S2, Redmi Note 5 Pro (known as Redmi Note 5 in some markets), Mi Mix 2S, Mi 5, Mi Note 2 and Mi Mix.

Soon, the firmware will expand to more devices too. In order to update your handset, you need to adhere to the beta testing phase and you will install a ROM which may be unstable under some aspects. If you are on MIUI 7, 8 or 9 stable version, you need to update via fastboot after unlocking the bootloader, while if you already have the Global Beta ROM based on the MIUI 9 you just need to launch the Updater app.

Xiaomi‘s MIUI 10 update is already being pushed to up to 33 models cutting across the Mi and Redmi models. The MIUI team is said to have written an article today which is sort of a review of the design story behind MIUI 10. Interestingly, the article also dabbled into discussing the next-gen MIUI 11 version.

The article gives us an idea of what Xiaomi will be aiming for with the next-gen custom ROM. The present design of the MIUI ROM was first tailored to fit into the 16:9 aspect ratio models that used to be popular back then. With the advent of full-screen phones, the design has also been tweaked to fit the full-screen design, even in cases where there is a notch.

However, even though the MIUI interface isn’t bad, Xiaomi says it will focus on improving the UI during the development of MIUI 11. The focus on MIUI 11 will not be on making a big difference in the user interface between MIUI 10 and MIUI 11. Instead, the focus will be on a design focused on the real needs of consumers. The rollout is still far away but we believe the development process is already in motion.

After officially announcing the MIUI 10 with all its features and after starting the beta testing phase and the first updates, Xiaomi has revealed the period in which several of its handsets will be updated to the new user interface based on Android. On June 29, the update already hit several devices from the Mi series, including Xiaomi Mi 8, Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, Xiaomi Mi Mix, Xiaomi Mi 6X, Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi Note.

According to the Chinese company, in late July there will be at least 23 phones from the Redmi series which will get the long-awaited MIUI 10 update. We are referring to Xiaomi Redmi S2, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, Xiaomi Redmi 5, Xiaomi Redmi 5A, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi 4, Xiaomi Redmi 4A, Xiaomi Redmi 4X, Xiaomi Redmi 3S, Xiaomi Redmi 3X, Xiaomi Redmi Pro, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and more devices which have not been mentioned.

The company may even decide to update up to 33 devices to MIUI 10 in July. That’s a huge amount, even though not all the most recent devices have been mentioned. But it is very evident that Xiaomi’s software support increases every day more.

Alongside the new flagship Mi 8, Xiaomi has also announced the latest iteration of its Android personalization: MIUI 10. The Chinese version of the new UI is currently in beta testing phase and it is slowly expanding to all eligible Xiaomi phones. Guys from XDA Developers have just discovered that the MIUI 10 Chinese beta allows recording videos in 1080p resolution with 60 fps on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.

The feature is kinda rare on mid-range phones sold under $200 as they can usually record in 1080p at 30 fps at max. Note that after rooting the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro it is even possible to record videos in 4K, but it is not an official features like the one contained in the latest MIUI 10 beta. Given that Xiaomi has added the option to record videos in 1080p at 60 fps in the Chinese Beta ROM, it is likely that we will see it in the global beta and in the final stable update. And there is also a chance that the company may add 4K video recording at 30 fps as well, given that the hardware side of this device would allow doing it.

The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the first handset from the Redmi Note series which features a dual camera setup on its rear side. It is composed of a primary sensor with a resolution of 12 MP and a f/2.2 aperture, and a 5 MP secondary sensor with a f/2.0 aperture. The front camera has a 20 MP resolution, a f/2.2 aperture and it is also equipped with a LED flash. Under the hood, the mid-ranger features an octa-core Snapdragon 636 chipset by Qualcomm running at a max frequency of 1.8 GHz. It is currently available in two configurations with 4 or 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage which you can expand with a micro SD up to 256 GB.
