Motorola releases list of phones getting Android 9.0 Pie

Following the official release of Android 9.0 Pie, manufacturers have been announcing devices that are eligible for the latest version of Android. Today, Motorola released a list of its phones that will get the update.

Motorola says the update will begin rolling out this fall but don’t be surprised if some phones don’t get it until next year. The eligible devices are listed below:

Apart from the Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z2, and Moto X4, no other Motorola phone released in 2017 will get updated to Android 9.0 Pie which is sad. However, we are not surprised.

Motorola has a bad track record when it comes to software support. The V was only updated to Android 8.1 Oreo back in June and the Android 8.1 Oreo soak test for the Moto G5 Plus began at the end of July. The Moto E5 series isn’t getting the update too. We are also not surprised as we already knew this right from when they were announced.

Android 9.0 Pie brings a new navigation system, adaptive brightness, adaptive battery and a number of UI changes.

Moto Z2 Force Real-Life Images Leaked as Launch Date Draws Closer

The Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force are slated to get unveiled on July 25. The press render of the Moto Z2 Force has already appeared. Now, several leaked photos of a real Z2 Force smartphone have appeared.

The Moto Z2 and Z2 Force will be the first dual camera smartphones from Motorola. The leaked images of the Z2 Force show the dual rear cameras placed in a horizontal manner inside a circular camera housing that also features a dual-LED flash. The bottom portion of the rear panel of the phone also shows the 16-pin slot for attaching Moto Mods accessories.

The frontside of the Moto Z2 Force resembles with the Moto Z2 Play that was unveiled in the previous month. The top bezel seems to feature a LED flash for the front-facing camera. Below the display is a capacitive Home button. The third image shows one of the sides of the phone and gives us an idea on how slim the phone would be.

A recent report has revealed that Motorola will be providing a 2,730mAh battery with the Moto Z2 Force. The original Moto Z Force came with a 3,500mAh battery. The reduction in the battery size would also decrease the thickness of the Z2 Force by 1mm. The Moto Z Fore has a thickness of 7mm and the smaller battery on the Moto Z2 Force could mean that it would be featuring a 6mm chassis.

Leaked information has revealed that the Moto Z2 Force would be coming with a 5.5-inch QHD display. It would be equipped with a ShatterShield screen. It would be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset. The U.S. will receive 4 GB RAM + 64 GB of storage version of the Moto Z2 Force. Other regions are pegged to get a variant featuring 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The Z2 Force would be available with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage in China. All the models will feature a microSD card slot. It will come loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is expected to get upgraded to Android O very soon.

All four US carriers will indeed offer the Moto Z2 Force.

According to the above tweet from well-known tipster, Evan Blass, the Moto Z2 Force would be available through all the four major carriers in the U.S. such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint. Last year, the Z Force was available through Verizon in the U.S. The Lunar Grey variant is likely to be exclusive to T-Mobile whereas other carriers are expected to receive Super Black and Fine Gold editions.

AT&T Motorola Moto Z2 Force Press Render Leaked; Reveals its Design from Angles

Motorola was expected to unveil the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force on June 30, but there was no announcement on these flagship phones. However, the arrival of these phones appears to be close at hand. Evan Blass who has revealed fresh information on Moto X4 specifications has also leaked a press render of the AT&T Motorola Moto Z2 Force to reveal its design.

Last year, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force were exclusively available through Verizon in the U.S. Although the unlocked version of Moto Z was also available for purchase in the U.S., the Moto Z Force could be only purchased through Verizon. However, going by the tweet from reliable leakster, Evan Blass, it can be said that Moto Z2 Force will be available through multiple carriers in the U.S. this year.

As it can be seen in the above image, there is a AT&T logo present just above the Moto Mods accessories connector. Hence, this black colored handset is a AT&T edition of Moto Z2 Force. Previous rumors have revealed that the shatterproof screen totting phone would be also available through Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. This indicates that all the major carriers of the U.S. will be selling the Moto Z2 Force.

There is no information available on when the Moto Z2 Force will be officially launched. In 2016, the original Moto Z was introduced in June but it was made available for purchase by September. The recent leaks on Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force suggest that they should get unveiled soon.

Rumors have revealed that the Moto Z2 Force would be coming with a ShatterShield display of 5.5 inches and it will be supporting a quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. The flagship phone would be fueled by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The rear of the phone will be flanked with dual cameras that will be coupled with dual-LED flash. Last year, the 3.5mm audio jack feature was axed from the Moto Z.

Leaked information has revealed that the company would be bringing back the feature on Moto Z2 and Z2 Force. Both the smartphones are rumored to come with similar specs, but one of the major differences between the two would be that the Moto Z2 will not be featuring a ShatterShield screen.

Motorola Moto Z2 Reveals its Flagship Specs on GFXBench Before Launch

The Moto Z2 is the 2017 flagship phone from the Motorola. It will be coming out as a successor for the original Moto Z that was launched last year. Rumors have it that the Moto Z2’s launch is close at hand. This has become all the more evident as the Moto Z2 has appeared on GFXBench benchmarking platform to reveal its flagship specs.

According to Moto Z2 GFXBench listing, it features a 5.5-inch screen that produces a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It is powered with Snapadragon 835 chipset that includes a 2.45 GHz octa-core processor and Adreno 540 graphics. The SoC is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. The native storage of the phone is 64 GB. It is likely to feature a microSD card like the original model.

Like the first generation Moto Z, its successor is also rumored to come with a pair of camera sensors on its rear panel. However, the GFXBench listing only reveals that it features a single camera of 12-megapixel which is capable of shooting 4K resolution videos. Its front-facing camera is of 5-megapixel. It is running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

Also, like the original Moto Z, the Moto Z2 is expected to carry support for Moto Mods accessories. Motorola had axed the 3.5mm audio jack on the Moto Z. However, it is expected to bring back the feature on the Moto Z2. Rumors have it that the Moto Z2 Force may also get unveiled alongside the Moto Z2. The Z2 Force is expected to come with similar specs like the Moto Z2. However, the Moto Z2 Force will be featuring a Shatterproof screen.

Motorola was expected to announce the Moto Z2 on June 27. However, it did not happen. Now, the Moto Z2 is expected to get unveiled on June 30 as the company is holding a launch event on that day.

A leakster had predicted that the Moto X4 would be launching on June 30. However, he later updated his fans that the launch of Moto X4 may have delayed because of production issues with Snapdragon 660 chipset. Apart from the aforementioned phones, Motorola is also expected to unveil the Moto G5S and Moto G5S+ smartphones in the near future.

Moto X4 Not Launching on June 30; Moto Z2 May Get Unveiled This Month

Previous rumors have revealed that the Motorola may launch the Moto X4 smartphone on June 30. However, Andri Yatim, a leakster who has been consistently revealing information on upcoming Motorola devices claim that the Moto X4’s arrival has been delayed. He also states that Motorola may mention the Moto Z2 on June 30.

It is likely that the delayed arrival of Moto X4 is because Qualcomm is struggling to fulfil the demand of Snapdragon 660 that is expected to power a couple of mid-range phones including the Moto X4. There is no confirmation on which device the company would be unveiling on June 30. On the same date, Motorola is expected to release the Moto E4 Plus in the U.S. The Moto X4 comes with 5.2-inch FHD, Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB / 64 GB storage versions, dual rear cameras, IP68 certified body with 3D glass finish, and 3,800mAh battery. The Moto G5S and Moto G5S+ are said to arrive as improved versions of the Moto G5 and G5 Plus.

However, speculations have been hinting that the Moto Z2 will be coming with a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Moto Z2 is expected to feature a 5.5-inch QHD display that will be covered with 2.5D glass. It will be arriving with a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. Like most flagship, the phone will come loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The Moto Z2 Force that is expected to come with an unbreakable screen dubbed as ShatterShield is also expected to launch alongside the Moto Z2. Moto Z2 Surfaces on AnTuTu: Packs Snapdragon 835, QHD Display & 4GB RAM

The Moto Z2 is expected to launch on June 27 judging from the teaser poster released recently. We believe it is the Z2 because that’s the phone the lady is holding in the poster.

Some think its the Moto X4 because it has dual cameras too and the lady does a good job covering the place where the Moto Mod pins are. However, if you zoom in closer, you will see the LED flash is below the sensors. For the Moto X4, the led flash is above its dual sensors and the video below is proof.

The Moto Z2 has been spotted on AnTuTu ahead of its launch and the benchmarking site has revealed some of its features.

The Moto Z2 is running Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835. The GPU is the Adreno 540 and the screen resolution is put at 1440 × 2560 (Quad HD).

AnTutu has revealed the camera specifications too. There is a 5MP up in front and one of the rear cameras is a 12MP sensor. RAM remains 4GB like last year’s model and built-in storage is 64GB.

AnTuTu says the Moto Z2’s score reaches 170,000, making it on par with that of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Xiaomi Mi 6.

The Moto Z2 will launch on June 27 at 19:00.

Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force Likely to be Unveiled Through Motorola’s June 27 Launch Event

The Moto Z line of smartphones were introduced last year. The original Moto Z phones as well as other Moto branded were sold as Lenovo devices in 2016. The Chinese firm is undergoing restructuring process and one of the things it is doing is bringing back the Motorola brand. This is proved through a new media invitation that has been released by the company for an upcoming launch event on June 27. Speculations are rife that Motorola may launch the Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force smartphones on June 27.

A leaked image that was allegedly shot at a recent Lenovo/Motorola event around a month ago revealed that several Moto phones are going to be released this year. By now the company has managed to launch couple of smartphones. In the previous month, the Moto C and Moto C Plus were launched. At the start of this month, Motorola introduced the Moto Z2 Play smartphone. In the previous week, it introduced the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus smartphones.

The other 2017 Moto phones that have not released yet include Moto G5S, Moto G5S+, Moto X4, Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force. Except for the Moto G5S, rumors have revealed all the other smartphones will be coming with dual rear camera feature. The above image of the launch invitation shows a girl holding a mysterious Moto phone that has dual rear cameras. This indicates that Motorola may unveil any of the aforementioned dual cam smartphones Since the invitation reads “Motorola is back,” it is likely that brand will return with a bang with the launch of Moto Z2 phones. However, there is no confirmation on it.

The above image shows that Motorola is also holding a launch event in Brazil on June 21. Recently, an unidentified Moto branded phone featuring a 5.5-inch screen and Snapdragon 430 chipset and 3,000mAh battery had received FCC certification. This phone could be the Moto G5S, an improved version of the Moto G5 that is powered by the same Snapdragon 430 SoC. Hence, it is likely that the Moto G5S and Moto G5S+ may get unveiled on June 21.

As far as Moto X4’s arrival is concerned, recent information has revealed that the Moto X4 may get announced at the end of this month on June 30. It is speculated to be an upper-midrange and first smartphone from the company to be powered by Snapdragon 660. Motorola has been releasing Moto X series flagship phones since 2013. However, in 2016, the Moto X was replaced by Moto Z phone. There is possibility that Motorola brand is coming back on June 27 with the launch of Moto X.

Motorola is expected to launch several new phones this year. So far, it has launched the Moto C and Moto C Plus as well as the Moto Z2 Play. It has handful of devices such as Moto Z2, Moto Z2 Force, Moto G5S+, Moto G5S, Moto X4, Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus phones waiting to get unleashed. The more time the company is taking to introduce them, the tipsters working harder to get spread leaked information. A Twitter user @HeyAndri has revealed the pricing of the Moto G5S+, Moto X4 and Moto Z2 Force.

According to Yatim, the Moto G5S+ will be coming with a price tag of Rs. 17,999 (~$279) and the Moto X4 will be priced at Rs. 20,999 (~$326). As far the pricing of the Moto Z2 Force flagship phone is concerned, it will be costing Rs. 38,999 (~$607).

The aforementioned Moto smartphones are slated to get announced this summer. These devices are also expected to release in the U.S., but there is no information on the exact prices of these phones for the U.S. In India, the newly launched Moto Z2 Play is selling for Rs. 27,999 (~$435).

The live images of Moto G5S+ had appeared two weeks ago. The smartphone will be coming with a 5.5-inch full HD screen and it will be featuring a full metallic chassis. The Moto G5S+ will be driven by Snapdragon 625 chipset and will deliver Android 7.1.1 Nougat experience out-of-the-box. It will be arriving in color options like Gold, Grey, Silver/White and Gold/White. It will be sporting dual rear cameras coupled with dual-LED flash.

The Moto X4 is expected to come with glass and metal combination chassis. It will be featuring 5.5-inch screen with 3D glass and it will be fueled by Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of native storage and a 3,800mAh battery. It will be also featuring dual-LED flash enabled dual rear camera module.

The Moto Z2 Force is the flagship phone from Motorola that will be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. Like the predecessor model, it is expected to come with a ShatterShield display. The Z2 Force will be also equipped with a dual camera setup on its rear side. Unlike the predecessor model, the new Z2 Force will feature a 3.5mm audio jack. Also, it will carry support for MotoMods accessories.

The Moto Z2 Leaks In New Set of Images, Audio Jack Still MIA

News has it that Motorola will unveil its new Moto Z2 family line in June. The line includes the Moto Z2 Play, the Z2 Force and the Moto Z2 itself. Images of the Moto Z2 have surfaced online. Although it is wrapped in a case, the images reveal an important info about the phone.

The Moto Z Force and Moto Z were the first Motorola phones to ditch the audio jack. However, recent reports say the 3.55mm port will make a comeback on the Z2 Force. While there was no mention of the Moto Z2 getting the same treatment, these new images confirm the fate of the audio jack. It will not return in the Moto Z2!!!

The images show the phone from three different angles, two of which cover the top and bottom where the audio jack should be. None of these shots show an audio jack.

The Moto Z2 in the images is gold. It has its SIM tray at the top and there is an antenna line positioned in the middle. The bottom is bare save for the USB Type-C port. We can’t see the rear since its covered with a case up front, there is a selfie flash with a new design and at the bottom is the new pill-shaped fingerprint scanner.

Suspected Moto Z2 Appears on GeekBench, Snapdragon 835 Chip in Tow

Lenovo did reveal that it would be killing its ZUK and Lenovo mobile phone brands and would instead focus on the Moto brand. Despite struggling to regain its past glory, the Moto Z -series remains one of the best in Motorola’s line-up presently and it is no wonder the Moto Z flagship is being touted as having a successor in the works. The Moto Z2 which will take over from last year’s Moto Z is said to have appeared on GeekBench database posting a stunning result.

The device appears as Motorola XT1650 and in reality, there are lots of benchmark test for the Moto XT1650 listed on Geekbench’s database uploaded as far back as August last year. Almost all of the test show there is a Quad-core MSM 8996 motherboard, which is the Snapdragon 821 chip. But in a spectacular manner, the details contained in this listing include the MSM 8998 which is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chip. Secondly, this benchmark result is shown to have been uploaded on January 21, 2017. That again places some doubt over the benchmark result. However, the GeekBench database further shows that the Z2 features 4GB of RAM, Android 7.1 Nougat. The listing also shows the Z2 pulled 1930 points on the single core test and 6207 points on the multi-core test.

In addition to this latest benchmark appearance, images of the Moto Z2 had earlier popped up online, showing the design and features the Z2 may likely come with. The render shows the Z2 may likely feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor just as found on the Xiaomi Mi 6. The front view also shows the selfie camera lying at the right side of the earpiece while there is a front flash at the right side. The display also comes with very slim bezels at the sides.

The Moto Z2 is also expected with a metal body and some great improvement at the rear camera. The rear camera is a dual setup and it comes with a two-color warm flash. The Z2 is also shown to come with support for wireless charging.

Moto Z2 Finally Appears to Reveal Its Front Design

The Z line of Moto branded smartphones by Lenovo that were introduced last year include Moto Z, Moto Z Play and Moto Z Force. This year Lenovo is expected to launch the successor models of these smartphones. The leaked renders of Motorola Moto Z2 Play and Moto Z2 Force have already appeared in the recent past. However, it is only now that a leaked render of the Moto Z2 smartphone has appeared.

in April, the well-known leakster, Evan Blass had revealed that the Moto Z’s successor would be arriving with Moto Z2 moniker. The new image has been leaked a reliable source that is familiar with the plans of the company. The leaked photo only reveals the frontside of the phone. It can be said that the Moto Z2 flagship resembles a lot with the Moto Z2 Play smartphone.

The top bezel of the phone features an LED flash for the selfie camera along with some sensors and earpiece. It appears that the Moto Z2 will come with front-mounted fingerprint scanner. The images of Moto branded smartphones usually feature a clock along with the date on the home screen.

It is likely that the photo may have been photoshopped to remove the home screen and clock so that viewers may not see the date on the phone. However, the date present on the home screen of Moto Z2 Play indicates that it would be launching on June 8. Hence, it is likely that Lenovo may launch the Moto Z2 alongside the Moto Z2 Play.

Last year, the Moto Z and Moto Z2 Force came with similar specs, but the latter arrive with a ShatterShield screen. Speculations have it that the upcoming Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force would be running on Snapdragon 835 chipset. The Moto Z2 Force is also expected to feature ShatterShield display.

Last year’s Moto Z2 and Z2 Force did not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. However, this year’s Z2 Force will bring back the 3.5mm jack. There is no confirmation on whether the Moto Z2 will be coming with or without the standard audio port.

Entire Moto Z, X, G, E, C Next-Generation Phones Revealed in a Leaked Shot

A leaked video that was reportedly shot at a recent Lenovo event revealed that the rumored Moto X (2017) would be launching as “Moto X4.” The video was leaked by well-known and reliable leakster, Evan Blass. Today, he has tweeted a leaked image that seems to be shot at the same presentation. The new image shows the entire line of next generation Moto devices.

Before getting acquired by Lenovo, Motorola had released three series of Moto devices since couple of years. The Moto X line constituted of flagship phones and the Moto G series were midrange phones. The Moto E budget-friendly phones came with modest specs.

After getting acquired by Lenovo, the Chinese firm released the new Moto Z series with support for modular accessories in the previous year and there were no Moto X smartphones in 2016. It made the smartphone enthusiasts feel that the Moto Z line was introduced to replace the Moto X series. In 2016, Lenovo had also released Moto G4 and Moto E3 series phones. However, rumors started swirling in the last quarter of 2016 that Lenovo may launch the Moto X this year.= with midrange specs.

The following leaked shot shows the entire list of next-generation Moto series smartphones that are going to launch in future.

The 2017 Moto Z series includes Moto Z Play and Moto Z Force. The Moto Z Play will possess a 5.5-inch full HD display and support for Moto Mods accessories. The Moto Z Force will feature ShatterShield display, Moto Mods accessories support and 1 GB LTE speed.

The 2017 Moto X series would be arriving with a 5.2-inch FHD display with 3D glass and SmartCam feature that probably refers to dual rear camera.

The Moto G lineup include Moto gS and Moto gS+. The Moto gS will be featuring a 5.2-inch with FHD screen and full metallic chassis. The Moto gS+ would be coming with a 5.5-inch FHD screen and dual rear cameras. Since Lenovo has already released 2017 Moto G series phones, the Moto G5 and G5 Plus, the Moto gS and Moto gS+ seems to be 2018 models.

The 2017 Moto E series would be consisting of Moto E and Moto E Plus. The Moto E will have a 5-inch screen overlaid with 2.5D and will also include a fingerprint scanner. The Moto E Plus with 5.5-inch HD screen will be packed with a mammoth 5,000mAh battery.

The 2017 Moto C lineup would be featuring Moto C and Moto C Plus smartphones. The Moto C will be a 4G phone with 5-inch HD screen that supports 480 x 854 pixels. The Moto C Plus would be arriving with a 5-inch HD display and a 4,000mAH battery.

Moto Style Shells Spotted Ahead of Alleged Launch this Week

The Motorola Moto Z smartphone that was launched in 2016 can not only be customized by attaching various kinds of Moto Mods accessories, but also by adding interchangeable rear covers called Moto Style Shells. Now, Louie Chan HK, a Weibo user has revealed some of the upcoming Moto Style Shells. Unlike previous Moto Style Shells that were made of different materials like Oak and Leather, the newer ones seem to be focused on certain kind of design.

As it can be seen in the above image that was shared on Weibo, the design of the new Style Shells is focused on scenery. One of them shows the beauty of a skyscraper and another one shows an evening shot of a city and the other one displays a view of the sunset between two buildings.

Like the currently available Style Shells, the newer ones appear quite thin. Moto Z phones have a protruding rear camera module. Hence, adding a Moto Style Shell can help the phone to sport a flat rear.

There is no information on the material of these Moto Style Shells. However, they appear to be built from the same material and have a glossy appeal. There is a possibility that these Moto Style Shells could be made of plastic or metal. The different designs that can be seen may not be engraved on the cover but it could be overlaid by using some kind of material such as vinyl or silicon.

All the three Moto Style Shells have a circular cut-out for the round-shaped rear camera of Moto Z. It seems that it can be also used on the upcoming Moto Z2 flagship that also features a circular-shaped camera housing. Below the camera cut-out is the circular Moto batwing logo on each shell.

The existing Moto Style Shells are available for $20 each. There is a possibility that these new shells that sport elaborate designs which may be printed in a manner to last longer might come with a costlier pricing. It is likely that the new rear covers may launch and become available globally for purchase by this week.

The Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Play leaked images and details have already surfaced. Since the predecessor models debuted in June last year, rumors have it that Lenovo will be unleashing the next-generation Moto Z phones in June 2017.

Moto Z (2017) Release Approaching as Moto Z2 Moniker Surface

In the second quarter of 2017, several smartphone OEMs such as HTC, Xiaomi, and OnePlus are expected to launch their Snapdragon 835 chip driven flagship phones. Lenovo-owned Motorola too is expected to launch a successor model for Moto Z flagship from last year. A new tweet from the reputable tipster, Evan Blass has revealed the moniker for the upcoming Motorola flagship.

The Moto Z is one of the best flagship smartphones from 2016. Its support for Moto Mods accessories is the USP of the phone. It allows users to attach various kinds of accessories such as extra battery backup or external speakers to the set of pins available on the rear side of the phone. The idea of letting users attach new Moto Mods has turned out to be so successful for Motorola that it has confirmed that for at least three years it will be retaining the Moto Mods projects.

It means that the Moto Mods made for Moto Z (2016) will also be compatible with Moto Z from this year. Also, the company plans to make the Moto Z phone available on other carriers in the U.S. rather than being exclusive to Verizon. So, what would be the upcoming Moto Z phone called? The new tweet from Blass reveals that the Moto Z (2017) will be arriving with a Moto Z2 moniker. He has not revealed any details on the specs of the rumored Moto Z2.

Around a month ago, the Moto Z2 had allegedly appeared on Geekbench benchmarking platform. It revealed the model number of the phone as XT1650 along with specs like Snapdragon 835, 4 GB RAM and Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. A leaked photo of the purported Moto Z2 was also spotted nearly a month ago to showcase its front design. Speculations have it that it may feature an iris scanner.

The Moto Z was launched in June last year and it was made available for purchase by September. Hence, it is likely that the Moto Z2 may get unveiled in June this year. Motorola is also expected to launch Moto Z2 Play and Moto Z2 Force smartphones alongside the Moto Z2.
