Today, at Lenovo Innovation Technology conference in China, Lenovo launched the foldable Yoga 7 Pro notebook with Intel i7 8th generation processor equipped with 8GB/16GB of RAM. It brings Dolby Vision + Dolby panoramic sound system with the 4K resolution support. There’s also an official 4096-pressure sensitive stylus which you can use while creating presentations and making notes.

Lenovo Foldable Yoga 7 Pro series is available in six different variants having different specs and configuration.

Lenovo Yoga 7 with i7/12 GB RAM specs

The Lenovo Foldable Yoga 7 Pro’s high-end version carries 12 GB of RAM with 4K display supporting Dolby Vision and 1 TB SSD onbaord. It carries Intel i7 8550U processor with Windows 10 Home and is available Micah Gold and Dark Grey colors. You can buy it at the price of 16888 Yuan (~$2457) in China.

Lenovo Yoga 7 with i7/8 GB RAM specs

There’s another 8GB RAM variant with IPS display supporting Dolby vision at the price of 13999 Yuan (~$2037) in China. It carries the same Intel i7 -8550U processor with 512 GB SSD on board. It is also available in two different color variants i.e. Dark Grey and Micah Gold.

Lenovo Yoga 7 with i5/8 GB RAM specs

Most of the models are running on the Intel i7 8th generation CPU, but here’s a low-end model in the series which packs an i5 8th generation processor with 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD on board. It carries IPS full HD display and is available in two different colors such as Micah Gold and Blood Red. It is available for the price 11888 Yuan (~$1728) at Lenovo China store.

Lenovo today held its 2018 Tech World Conference in China and a number of innovative products were unveiled. The company unveiled a spaceship-shaped Titanium enterprise server and also announced the 5G-ready Moto Z3 which had earlier been launched in the U.S. Yet another innovative and futuristic product is the OLA smart headset. The Lenovo OLA Smart Headset comes with the capability to make calls and play music even when a smartphone isn’t paired with it.

The OLA Smart Headset comes with a design that is hardly different from the ordinary Bluetooth headset that is in the market especially Meizu’s EP Bluetooth headset. It has a highly compact size but it still gets to house so much juice. The main feature is the smart IoT sensor inside and also a headphone smart cloud platform is also inside. This gives the headset the capability to make calls, listen to music, monitor heart rate and several other features without a paired mobile phone.

Speaking during the unveiling, Lenovo’s CEO Yang Yuanqing noted that this is the fourth year the company is hosting the Tech World event. He went on to state that it was a pleasure to see the products and technologies that have been demonstrated over the years getting transformed into products that facilitate a better life and work. According to the CEO, the OLA-smart headphone can realize the function of the mobile phone without using a mobile phone. It can also act as a sports tracker measuring distance covered and allowing you to listen to music as well as answer a call while running. Most importantly, there is hardly the risk of it falling from your neck, unlike a bulky smartphone that can fall off. The headset can be connected to a smartphone but can also work independently. It equally comes with several sensors like Pedometer, heart rate sensor etc to keep track of users’ biometrics while on the run.

Unfortunately, this is a product for the future as there is no stipulated time for its launch and commercialisation yet. We expect it to get launched in no distant time.

OPPO Find X to get 10GB RAM version, spotted at TENAA

There have been rumors of a 10GB RAM smartphone in development for a while now. Vivo‘s yet unreleased Xplay7 was rumored to come with 10GB RAM and the ASUS ROG Phone was also supposed to come with 10GB of RAM. It appears OPPO will be the first to launch a 10GB RAM phone judging by an updated TENAA listing of the Find X.

The Find X originally comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage but Chinese leaker @UniverseIce shared a photo of an updated listing that shows the Find X will get a new 10GB RAM + 256GB ROM model.

We were able to confirm that the leak is genuine as the full TENAA specs listing for the Find X (PAFM00 model) now has a 10GB RAM variant. The update to the listing was made yesterday. The rest of the specs will remain the same as the other variant.

The Find X has a 6.42-inch AMOLED screen with a 2340 x 1080 resolution. The phone has a bezel-less design and hides the front-facing camera and 3D face scanning sensors for unlocking the device “behind the screen”. A motorized slider reveals the sensors including the dual rear cameras when needed.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 processor, has a 25MP front-facing camera and a 16MP + 20MP dual rear camera combo. The Find X runs Android 8.1 Oreo and packs a 3730mAh battery with support for fast charging.

In a recent talk with the co-founder of the WhatsApp, Brian Acton, it was revealed that he feels like he sold users’ privacy with the Facebook acquisition. In the year 2014, Facebook bought the WhatsApp for an eye-popping deal of $22 billion. After the deal, he was unsettled with the working of Whatsapp as it was under the Facebook’s influence.

Brian told Forbes that he and the Facebook leadership were in a significant divide over monetizing the app. Both Koum and Acton were opposing the decision of adopting Facebook’s target advertising model. The Facebook advertising model allows marketers to use personal data to target ads for the specific audience. The dissent between the WhatsApp leadership and Facebook led to tensions. Ultimately, Acton left Whatsapp in 2017, later its CEO Jan Koum also followed with a resignation last year.

In response to this, Facebook didn’t comment at the time of publishing this article. But a senior Facebook executive, David Marcus posted that, “WhatsApp founders had been given a different office layout, and more personal space than anyone else.” He also defended the Mark Zuckerberg by quoting Whatsapp’s end-to-end encryption feature which makes it impossible to decrypt the message content. In defense, Marcus added, “I find attacking the people and company that made you a billionaire, and went to an unprecedented extent to shield and accommodate you for years, low-class.”

The allegations became serious when a co-founder of Whatsapp quoted, “I sold my users’ privacy to a larger benefit,” I made a choice and a compromise. And I live with that every day.”

It will be running on Android 8.1 Oreo-based ColorOS ROM. In-camera department, there will be a dual rear camera and a single front camera packed in the beautiful waterdrop notch. On Oct. 16, Huawei will be announcing the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro flagship phones. Well ahead of the arrival of Mate 20 series, an Israeli publication has shared the promotional materials of these smartphones.

The Mate 20 Pro (codenamed as Laya) will be arriving with a 4,200mAh battery. The massive battery will be coupled with next-generation Super Charge 2.0 that will allow the phone to gain 70 percent of battery life by charging it for only 30 minutes. The Mate 20 (codenamed as Hima) will be packed with a 4,000mAh battery that will offer 21 percent better battery life than the predecessor Mate 10 smartphone from last year. The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be the first Huawei phones to carry support for 15W wireless charging.

The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will both feature 24-megapixel selfie camera. The Mate 20 duo will also feature triple camera setup. However, instead of the telephoto lens available in the triple camera module of the Huawei P20 Pro, the Mate 20 duo will an ultra wide-angle lens. the AI Smart Zoom feature on the upcoming Huawei flagship phones can detect moving object and automatically focus on it.

The HiVision feature arriving on Mate 20 and 20 Pro will work like Google Lens for searching text, goods, scenic spots and so on by pointing the camera on any object.

The wider notch on the Mate 20 Pro will also accommodate necessary sensors for 3D facial recognition like Face ID available on the new iPhones. Huawei’s 3D Face Unlock feature offers unlock speed of 500ms and has a failure rate of 1:1000000. On the other side, the Mate 20 will support 2D facial recognition. The Mate 20 Pro will be also equipped with in-display fingerprint scanner whereas the Mate 20 will feature a regular rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The other unlocking feature arriving on Mate 20 and 20 Pro is called Bone Voice ID that can instantly unlock the smartphone by detect the users voice. It can work accurately even in noisy surroundings.

The heart of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will be the Kirin which is the world’s first 7nm chipset. The base model of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will respectively feature 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. Both the models will come with inbuilt storage of 128 GB. Unlike the recent flagship phones, the upcoming Mate 20 duo will support expandable storage. However, these phones will not support microSD card. The promotional materials reveal that these smartphones will support a new type of nanoSD memory card (looks like a nano SIM card) up to 256 GB. The upcoming flagship phones from Huawei will also support easy wireless projection for desktop PC experience.

The Mate 20 Pro will probably feature a 6.9-inch curved OLED screen that will be support Quad HD+ resolution. The Mate 20 may feature a waterdrop notch IPS LCD display of 6.53 inches with FHD+ resolution. Both phones will be equipped with stereo speakers and 3.5mm audio jack. The Mate 20 Pro will be an IP67 certified device whereas the Mate 20 will be an IP53 rated phone. Both phones are expected to arrive with EMUI 9.0 based Android 9 Pie OS.

Render of PixelStand Wireless Charger for the Pixel 3 leaks

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will come with support for wireless charging. Google is expected to announce a wireless charger for both phones too. The wireless charger is called the PixelStand and a render leaked yesterday.

The render shows the PixelStand will come in white with an orange base. That base is most likely silicone and should provide a form of resistance to prevent it from slipping when placed on a flat surface. There is a circular cut-out at the base where the USB-C port plugs into the input port.

The way the charger is designed, the phone will have to be in a standing position when docked. This makes sense since a code found in a Google APK revealed that the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be able to work as a smart display when placed on the wireless charger.

The phone will have a different UI when in this mode with larger buttons, shortcuts for launching the music and phone apps, and a quick way to access Google Assistant. The charger is also said to support fast charging.

The Huawei Mate 20 series has been in the news a lot lately and that is expected to continue for the next few weeks preceding its announcement. The Mate 20 series will come with some interesting features such as triple rear cameras and 40W fast charging but none of the aforementioned features are actually new. The Huawei P20 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2018) have triple cameras and the OPPO Find X Lamborghini Edition supports 40W fast charging.

A new leak has revealed that the Mate 20 series will have a technology never been used before in a smartphone. According to the leaked photos which were posted on Weibo last week and seem to have been taken during a private presentation, the Huawei Mate 20 is expected to come with graphene-related cooling.

A number of manufacturers have incorporated some sort of cooling in their devices this year. The POCOPHONE F1, for example, has liquid cooling. It actually uses water flowing through a copper pipe to keep it cool. The Galaxy Note9 also uses a Water Carbon Cooling system which has the liquid flowing through a carbon-fiber + copper thermal pipe for heat dissipation. However, no manufacturer has used graphene for cooling.

Graphene is much better than other materials currently in use when designing a cooling pipe as it has an ultra-high thermal conductivity and is a better conductor of electricity than copper because of its honeycomb structure. It is also thinner and much stronger. Research has been going on to find ways of using graphene in active and passive cooling and the results show it is better at heat dissipation.

It appears Huawei has found a way to use the material for cooling at a commercial level and will use it in its Mate 20 devices. This is most likely the same graphene-based technology the Honor Magic 2 will feature.

Oculus Quest 6DOF All-in-One VR headset announced, launches 2019 for $399

Oculus announced a new VR headset today to complete its first generation of VR headsets. The new Oculus Quest VR headset combines the best features of the entry-level standalone Oculus Go and the PC-tethered Oculus Rift.

The Oculus Quest is a standalone headset like the Oculus Go but offers a similar experience to what you’ll get on the PC-tethered Oculus Rift. It comes with touch controllers similar to that of the Rift and provides six degrees of freedom.

Oculus also announced a new technology called Oculus Insight. This uses a combination of four ultra-wide-angle cameras in the headset and computer vision algorithms for tracking the user’s exact position in real time without the need for external sensors.

Since the Oculus Quest has six degrees of freedom, users can walk and duck and this is replicated in the game. Hugo Barra who is the CEO of Oculus says the device provides “arena-scale” tracking for at least 400 square feet of space. Oculus has also brought the Guardian System from the Rift for displaying wall and floor markers so you don’t hurt yourself while moving around.

Just like the Oculus Go, the Quest has a display resolution of 1600 x 1440 per eye. It also has built-in speakers but with deeper bass than that of the Go. The Oculus Quest will be available in Spring 2019 for $399 for the 64GB version with Touch controllers.
