One of the selling points of the new Nokia smartphones released since HMD Global took control of the brand is the regular updates. The Nokia 7 Plus already got updated to Android Pie and the Nokia 6.1 Plus got a beta update last week. Now info has surfaced regarding the Nokia 5.1 Plus‘ Android Pie update schedule.
HMD Global already confirmed the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 will get updated to Android 9 this month and the Nokia 8 Sirocco and the Nokia 8 will follow in November. However, no info was revealed about the other smartphones.
Someone decided to ask the company’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas if the Nokia 5.1 Plus would get Android Pie before the end of the year and his reply says it all. According to Mr. Sarvikas, he “would be surprised if it does not”.
So if you own the Nokia 5.1 Plus, you should get your slice of Android Pie before the end of the year. As the weeks roll by, more info regarding the update should surface.
The Nokia 5.1 Plus was launched back in July but first as the Nokia X5 in China. It has a notch like the Nokia X6/Nokia 6.1 Plus but a 5.86-inch HD+ display. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P60 processor with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

While OnePlus has not revealed the timeline, we hope the company starts rolling out the device by the end of this year.
The upcoming OnePlus 6T is expected to come with “a whole new UI” with improved gestures and functions. Asus has received position response in the Indian market for its Zenfone 5Z flagship smartphone and Zenfone Max Pro M1 mid-range phone. Now, after the success of both those devices, the Taiwan-based company is now all set to launch new devices in the Indian market.
Recently, we reported that the company has sent out media invites for a launch event on 17th October in India. Now, it’s confirmed that Asus will be announcing two new smartphones at the event. Also, this is the global launch event, meaning that both the devices will first get launched in India. The event will also be live-streamed by the company.
The successor of the Zenfone Max Pro M1, dubbed as Zenfone Max Pro M2, is in the works and was recently certified by EEC in Russia. While the company has not revealed anything related to the phone, there’s a possibility that Asus could announce Zenfone Max Pro M2 at the event.
Like the Zenfone 5Z and Zenfone Max Pro M1, the upcoming phones from the company will also be available for purchase exclusively through online marketplace Flipkart. However, the company has not revealed any details related to the smartphones but it appears that the new devices will be a part of company’s Zenfone lineup.
Asus has adopted the strategy of aggressive pricing in the Indian market, which seems to be working very well for the company. So, we are expecting the upcoming phones to have aggressive pricing. To know for sure what’s up the company sleeves, we’ll have to wait until the company makes the devices official on 17th October.
ZTE Axon 7 is the company’s most popular device launched in May 2016. It has received proper updates and security patches since the past couple of years. Recently, ZTE started pushing the Android Oreo-based update for Axon 7, but it carried some issues. As per some users, these are the same issues that have been found in the beta version which was rolled with July Security patch a few months ago.
It seems ZTE didn’t rectify few issues in the beta build and rolled out the stable build to all the ZTE Axon 7 devices. It resulted in app crashes, overheating problems and users are having difficulty with connectivity. It also lacks support for the Daydream VR in the latest so-called “stable build”.
Recently, ZTE faced sanctions from the US government which restricted the company to operate in the mainstream market. As now the sanctions are lifted, ZTE has launched the Axon 9 Pro and has started testing the software builds in open beta.
The stable build is not available for download via OTA, and you need to sideload it via SD card. Surprisingly, you have to wipe your data and install the update on ZTE Axon 7. Well, it is quite strange that ZTE is rolling the stable update without an OTA support. Some users are reporting that the update brings an encryption issue which doesn’t decrypt the data on device’s partition irrespective of what pin was entered.
Well, whatever the reason is, ZTE should rectify all the bugs that have been reported by the users who have installed this build on their devices. We suggest you keep a hold on the update and wait for another stable update from ZTE. If you have already installed the update, then restart your device to fix data connection and a few other issues.
