Chinese innovative startup Smartisan stunned the smartphone world yesterday with the launch of the flagship Smartisan R1 packing 1TB of UFS 2.1 flash memory. This is the world’s first smartphone with such an expansive storage option. There may be another stunner from China soon anyway. That is if the latest disclosure by Lenovo‘s VP Chang Cheng is anything to go by.
Mr Cheng has been the source of all we know so far about the Lenovo Z5, including the name. He has now revealed that the flagship model will come with a mammoth 4TB of storage. 4TB of flash memory looks like an overkill as it is more than enough storage for most users. In the end, a large chunk of the storage space may end up being unused. But for stats, the VP disclosed 4TB of storage can store up to 1 million photos, 2000 HD movies, and 150,000 lossless music. The Lenovo VP also disclosed in the post that the device is expected to be launched in June.
Apart from the massive storage space, the Lenovo Z5 is expected to come with a high screen ratio of up to 95% as well as a metal mid-frame. The back of the device will be made of glass. Other specs may include a MediaTek Helio P60 chip considering the VP’s praise of the premium MediaTek chip a while back. However, the best bet would be a flagship processor like Snapdragon 845. We expect more details to unravel as time goes on.

HMD Global has sent out media invites for an upcoming launch event that will be held at 7 PM on May 29 in Russia. However, the information on the venue of the event has been blurred out in the invitation image. The invitation reveals that it is a global launch event through which the Finnish firm will be announcing new Nokia phones.
As it can be seen below, the invitation for May 29 event is in Russian language. The translated text on the invitation reads “Dear Friends. We invite you to worldwide premiere new Nokia phones.” What’s intriguing about the invitation is the inclusion of the words “the worldwide premiere” which suggests that the company could be gearing up to launch new phones that haven’t been unveiled yet this year.
The invitation states that May 29 launch event will be attended by the entire top management of the company including CEO, CMO and CPU. Hence, there is a possibility that the company may unveil brand new Nokia phones later this month.
HMD Global CMO Pekka Rentala has already said that the company will be launching 2018 editions of Nokia 2, 3 and Nokia 5. In the recent past, three unidentified Nokia phones with model numbers such as TA-1075, TA-1105 and TA-1116 have received certification in Russia. Also, a user agent profile has recently confirmed that the Nokia 3.1 (aka Nokia 3 2018) smartphone truly exists. As of this writing, there are no details available on the specs of rumored 2018 versions of Nokia 2, 3 and 5.
Do you think that HMD Global will unveil Nokia 2 (2018), Nokia 3 (2018) and Nokia 5 (2018) at the upcoming unveil event? Share us your thoughts by posting your comments below.

Recently, we saw what could be regarded as a massive leak from Amazon Germany which reveals a whole lot of details about the OnePlus 6 flagship which is expected to launch May 17. This time around, the accessories that would tag along with the OnePlus 6 have just been unveiled in a leak. The leak surfaced via a Twitter account but the user hinted that he had to expunged the documents because OnePlus India asked him to do that “as it did hurt the launch”. However, we already have the pictures.
Had to delete the OnePlus 6 accessories leak as OnePlus India asked me to. I hope you people understand as it did hurt the launch and I agreed to it without a second thought! 😀
The accessories are allegedly all the official OnePlus 6 accessories to be available at launch. The accessories include the regular hard protective cases with a few additional variants such as Sandstone Black, Karbon, Ebony Wood, Nylon Black, Protective Red and the Black Flip Cover. In addition, the OnePlus 6 is also expected to have a tempered glass screen protector as an accessory which would be available off the shelf. The screen protector is designed with a notch and tiny black bezels on the entire screen.
Apart from listing the accessories, the details also include the prices of the different accessories both in Indian Rupees, U.S Dollars and British Pound Sterling. The prices are consistent with those of previous years but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow when the device goes official to know the actual details.
Samsung, the South Korean based electronics giant, is currently in talks with several smartphone manufacturers, including China-based ZTE, to supply mobile processor chips. This was confirmed by a senior executive of Samsung.
With this move of supplying its mobile processors to other smartphone manufacturers, Samsung is now getting closer to direct competition with Qualcomm, which is currently dominating the mobile chipset segment.
In a statement, Samsung has mentioned that there is no certainty that deal with ZTE Corp will be reached and that it treats all of its vendors equally. According to Counterpoint, Samsung’s System LSI business saw a 27 percent rise in shipments last year.
Samsung generates a significant amount of profit from memory chips and the South Korean company has been beefing up development of logic chips, including mobile processors, images sensors as well as automotive chips in order to diversify its business.
The company has been using in-house developed Exynos mobile chipsets for its own flagship smartphones under its Galaxy lineup. However, as for the external customers of its mobile chipsets, it has only one client — Meizu, which is a China-based smartphone manufacturer.
Inyup Kang, who is the head of Samsung System LSI — a logic chip development unit, told in an interview that the company is talking with all original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and is expecting to announce its new clients in the first half of 2019.
This move could give a sigh of relief to China-based ZTE Corp, which has been banned by the United States of America for seven years. As a part of the ban, none of the US-based companies can provide software or hardware components to ZTE Corp.
Recently, Taiwanese government also announced that Taiwan-based companies will have to take permission before supplying components to ZTE Corp. MediaTek, a mobile chipset manufacturer, complied with the new rules and has been granted permission to supply its chipsets to ZTE.
Apart from Samsung, Qualcomm is also facing tough competition from China-based Huawei, which also develops in-house mobile processors under HiSilicon branding for its own and its subsidiary Honor‘s smartphones.
At the beginning of this month, Lenovo rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the users of Lenovo K8 Note. However, the update has brought along plenty of issues to the device. Apparently, K8 Note users who have encountered multiple problems after installing the update have flooded the official forum site with numerous new topics and most of them have been created without checking whether the topics already exists or not. In a bid to control the situation, the company has decided to temporarily disallow users from creating new threads.
One of the forum site administrators named Andy_Lenovo has created a new topic that reads “Why Can’t I Create a New Topic?” (as shown below in the image). The post states that majority of threads that have been created in the last few days are duplicates since members have added new topics without checking whether the same topic exists on the forum or not.
Since the forum got flooded with duplicate topics, the option to create new topics on the forum site has been disabled. The administrator added that the existing duplicates are required to be merged with base threads or locked which is a time-consuming process. Also, he has requested users to even stop searching for topics before adding a new post because administrators and moderators require more time to deal with the existing threads. As expected, Andy_Lenovo’s post has also met with fresh set of complaints.
Many smartphone OEMs have encountered problems while pushing Android Oreo update to their devices. Almost every smartphone OEM had to stop the rollout of the Android Oreo update due to unexpected bugs. As far as Lenovo K8 Note is concerned, some users have complained that they are facing camera lag after installing the firmware update while others have claimed that the notification LED has stopped functioning.
Some are experiencing lag while accessing the systems apps such as call history in the phone app or the Settings app. Apart from system apps, those apps that have been installed through the Play Store are also working sluggishly even after reinstalling them. Some users have said that the device is heating up after the update and it is taking more time than usual to charge the phone. Some settings like the Dolby Atmos quick action has disappeared from the quick settings.
As of this writing, there is no confirmation from Lenovo on when it will be rolling out a stable Oreo update for K8 Note.

After launching Honor 10 in China last month, Huawei‘s sub-brand Honor has now launched its flagship smartphone in the Indian market. The launch for the Indian market was announced at an event held in London, where the phone was also launched globally.
In India, the Honor 10 has been priced at Rs. 32,999, which roughly converts to $485. The phone will be available for purchase through homegrown online marketplace Flipkart. It’ll also be available to buy via Hi Honor online store in India.
Design-wise, the phone comes with a new kind of design, which is a departure from what we have seen from the company in the past. The smartphone features an aluminum frame with glass back that shifts color depending on how you hold it and how the light hits the surface.
The Honor 10 features a 5.84-inch Full-HD+ FullView Display with 2280 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. There’s a notch on top of the display, which the company says it has been planning since past four years.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the company’s own octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset, which consists of four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.36GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz, and a dedicated neural processing unit.
The chipset is coupled with 6GB of RAM and the phone packs 128GB internal storage. There’s also another variant of the device which packs 6GB RAM and 64GB onboard storage, however, the company has decided not to launch that model in the Indian market.
As of the photography, the Honor 10 comes with a dual camera setup at the back, featuring a 16-megapixel sensor with f/1.8 aperture and phase detection autofocus. The secondary sensor is a 24-megapixel monochrome sensor, which can be proved helpful in low-light conditions. On the front side, there’s a 24-megapixel camera with AI features.
Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Buyers on Flipkart will get a 10 percent instant discount with Axis Bank and debit cards, as well as Rs. 1,200 cashback offer on Jio along with 100GB additional data, and Rs. 3,300 worth of partner vouchers.
Finally, after months of leaks and teasers, OnePlus 6 will see the light of day. On May 16, the former Chinese startup owned by BBK Electronics will showcase its 2018 flagship in a dedicated event. It is going to be a stunning smartphone, but it will also be cheaper than the most top-end flagship. Despite the lower price, it will be as powerful as the Samsung Galaxy S9 and iPhone X.
Here, you can find 5 features of the upcoming handset which may get attract your attention.
OnePlus 6 will have a premium design
Aesthetically, OnePlus 6 will be much more attractive than all of its predecessor. For the first time ever, there will be a rear side made of glass which will make the phone have a premium look. Further, OnePlus 6 will have an iPhone X-like notched display, and this means that the screen-to-body ratio will be very high. There will still be a chin, but its thickness will be low and the display will cover almost the whole front panel. Thanks to the tri-bezel-less design, the handset will remain as compact as its predecessor even though the display will be very wide (19:9 aspect ratio). Unfortunately, the fingerprint reader will remain on the back, but there will be an advanced facial recognition technology to unlock the phone.
OnePlus 6 will boast amazing performance
Devices by OnePlus have always been among the most powerful flagships in terms of performance. OnePlus 5 and 5T were the best phones on benchmarks for a lot of time. They are incredibly fast and smooth in every scenario, and this is one of the main reasons why people choose OnePlus devices. The new OnePlus 6 will probably provide an even better performance as its hardware side will be more advanced. The handset will sport an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset running at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz which is much more impressive than its predecessor SD835 found on the 5T. Further, it will have up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of UFS internal storage.
OnePlus 6 is waterproof
For the first time ever, a OnePlus device has got the waterproof treatment. A recent teaser has confirmed that OnePlus 6 will be water-resistant and it will be possible to use it under the rain with no damages. Unfortunately, the former Chinese startup did not disclose the IP rating of the device, but given that it has been officially teased we expect OnePlus 6 to have either the IP67 or IP68 certification. In the first case, it would be dustproof and waterproof up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes at max, while the IP68 rating would make it waterproof up to 1.5 meters deep. According to the company, the older OnePlus 5 and 5T are splash resistant but no IP rating has been included in their specs sheet.
OnePlus 6 will sport improved cameras with AI
OnePlus 6 will come with a dual camera setup on its back with 20 + 16 MP dual lenses. This camera will be significantly improved if we compare it with the cameras of OP5 and 5T. The CEO Pete Lau has already published some camera samples which revealed a stunning photo quality with an incredibly high detail and a low amount of noise even in low light conditions. Further, the company has revealed through a teaser that the camera will support AI, probably for scene recognition, selfie beautification and more. The camera is expected to come with optical stabilization unlike the previous models, and it should have a bright f/1.7 aperture. There is still no confirmation regarding the front camera, but we believe it will come with a high amount of Megapixels. You can click here to see a camera comparison between OnePlus 6 and some of the best camera phones actually available.
OnePlus 6 price will remain affordable
Even though OnePlus 6 will cost slightly more than its older sibling 5T, its price will remain affordable compared with the most important flagships in the market. In Europe, it’s expected to come with a price tag of €519 for the version with 64 GB of storage and €569 for the 128 GB version. The 5T started from €499 for the base variant, but it’s also worth mentioning that Samsung, as well as Apple and Huawei, have raised the prices of their most powerful flagships which are actually way more expensive than OnePlus 6.

A new Xiaomi phone labelled as “Xiaomi StRaKz” has appeared on Geekbench benchmarking platform. The specs of the phone that have surfaced through the Geekbench listing suggests it could be yet another budget phone from the company.
The Geekbench listing of the Xiaomi Strakz has revealed that it is yet another phone from the company that is driven by the Snapdragon 625 SoC. Xiaomi has used the same chipset to power smartphones like Redmi S2, Redmi Note 5, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi 4 Prime, Mi Max 2, Mi A1 and Mi 5X.
The SD625 SoC on the Xiaomi Strakz phone is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM. It is preinstalled with Android 8.1.0 Oreo. In single-core test, the Strakz phone has scored 902 points and in multi-core test, it has recorded a score of 1536 points. Even though 4 GB RAM is seen assisting the SoC, the benchmark scores are quite low. Also, the base frequency of the Snapdragon 625 is mentioned 0 MHz for Strakz phone. This could be because of the system software bug.
The SD625 is a power-efficient SoC and it has been recently used to power budget-friendly smartphones. There is a possibility that the Strakz phone could be the Redmi 6 phone or it could be some other phone from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi has set a target of achieving shipments of 100 million units this year. In India, it has already dethroned Samsung by capturing the market for mid-range phones. This year too, Xiaomi’s mid-range phones are expected to significantly the company to meet its shipments target.

In the previous month, Android Headlines had revealed some of the key features of the forthcoming LG V35 ThinQ smartphone. However, the specs of the phone have remained under the wraps. A leaked specs sheet of the LG V35 ThinQ has surfaced online. It reveals that the V35 ThinQ will be the second smartphone from the South Korean company to feature the Snapdragon 845 SoC.
At the beginning of this month, LG had launched the G7 ThinQ as its first flagship phone for 2018. Now that the rumor mill has revealed the specs sheet of the V35 ThinQ, it appears that its launch could be drawing near. The leaked specs sheet has revealed that it features a 6-inch FullVision OLED display that will deliver FHD+ resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels.
The Snapdragon 845 SoC of the LG V35 is accompanied by 6 GB of RAM. It is speculated to arrive with an internal storage of 128 GB. Like the G7 ThinQ, the V35 ThinQ is speculated to arrive with Android 8.1 Oreo preinstalled. The handset will receive power from a 3,000mAh battery. Its battery is 300mAh smaller than G7 ThinQ.
For photography, it will feature a pair of 16-megapixel snappers. It has been already revealed through a previous report that the handset will be featuring the same dual rear cameras that are available on the LG G7 ThinQ. Also, it will be featuring the same 8-megapixel front-facing camera found on the G7 ThinQ.
The recently leaked renders of the LG V35 ThinQ shows that its design will be similar to the V30S ThinQ phone as it won’t be featuring a notched display like the G7 ThinQ. The leaked renders of the phone have also revealed that it will be available exclusively through AT&T in the U.S.
The V35 ThinQ has been certified by the Federal Communications Commission and it also approval by an equivalent body in Russia. As of this writing, there is no information available on the launch date of the LG V35 ThinQ. Since it borrows features like chipset, dual rear cameras and front camera from the recently launched G7 ThinQ, it seems that the South Korean company may launch it in early third quarter of the year. Some reports have claimed that it may get official in the month of August. The firm is also rumored to be working on V40 (codenamed as Storm) flagship phone. It is rumored to debut by fall this year.
The international variant of the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T already received the Android 8.1 Oreo update last month. Now it is the turn of the Chinese variants.
This shouldn’t be news anymore but for those who don’t know, the OnePlus phones sold in China run a different Android-based OS called HydrogenOS.
The update comes as HydrogenOS 5.1.0 on both devices and comes in at a little over 1.9GB. For the OnePlus 5T, the update brings full-screen gestures. The remaining features such as dynamic clock icon, automatic folder naming, cloud photo backup, game mode optimization etc. are the same on both devices.
LG officially unveiled its latest flagship – the G7 ThinQ in China a fortnight ago. The device is yet to go on sale but pre-orders have gone live in Canada and it is a rather interesting one. LG is offering all those who pre-order the flagship smartphone in Canada a 43-inch LG 4K UHD Smart TV.
The offer is only available to those who buy from any of the participating retailers and carriers. The Korean giant shared the list of participating retailers and carriers and the list is quite robust. The promotional activity surrounds the pre-order will begin on May 18 and will end on May 31. That is a whole lot of time for those living in Canada to get their credit cards ready in order to grab a unit.
The LG G7 ThinQ features a 6.1-inch FullVision QHD+ screen with a notch at the top and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Snapdragon 845 processor found in other flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+ and the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s.
Xiaomi has introduced a new product on its crowdfunding platform. This time around, it is a microwave and as at the time of filing this report, the product is up for support on the Youpin crowdfunding page and the response has been overwhelming so far. The crowdfunding target was 10,000 yuan but that has been surpassed by up to 143%. The OCooker microwave is manufactured by one of Xiaomi’s eco-chain company- Guangdong Kitchen Technology Co., Ltd. The company will also handle after-sale services in China.

Have you gotten over the fact that the Smartisan R1 has 1TB of built-in storage? If you have then you should read on for Smartisan’s second product launched today – the Smartisan TNT Workstation All-in-One PC.
Smartisan TNT Design
The Smartisan TNT Workstation reminds us of the Microsoft Surface Studio. However, unlike the Surface Studio, it doesn’t run Windows and it comes in Dark Gray.
The display is massive at 27-inches and can be adjusted to three different angles. It also has touch controls on the bezels which are sort of like shortcuts to certain apps and features. At the base sits a plethora of ports on both sides.
Smartisan TNT Workstation Specs
The Smartisan TNT Workstation has a 27-inch IPS 10-point multi-touch display with a 3840 x 2160 resolution and a 100% sRGB. The display can be adjusted between 36° and 90°. There are five capacitive buttons on each side of the monitor. The image below shows the function of each key. There are also two physical buttons on the base – one is the power button and the other is to switch between the display source.
It has a 5MP f/2.0 1.4μm camera for video calling and for Face Unlock. For audio, there are two full range speakers and one low-frequency speaker, three smart amplifiers, and a high sensitivity microphone. It also has a gravity sensor, two hall sensors, and a proximity sensor.
For ports, the TNT Workstation has a single display port, 4 x USB 3.0 ports, 2 x USB-C ports, an HDMI-DP port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and another HDMI port.

The TNT workstation doesn’t have its own storage or RAM. So the only way it works is by connecting the display to the Smartisan R1 via a dock or by connecting it to a NUC or PC using any of the other HDMI ports.
The Workstation comes with a dock for connecting the Smartisan R1. When connected, the OS automatically switches to desktop mode.
Smartisan OS 6.66 has been specially made to offer a desktop-like experience. You can decide to use the workstation in touch input mode or by traditional input method (keyboard and mouse). There are custom office programs (TNT Word, TNT PPT, and TNT Excel) with live animation preview, voice input, and command support, text drag and drop, and text style modification.
There is also Bullet SMS for managing communication. Bullet SMS syncs messages from multiple devices including iOS and other versions of Android.
