OnePlus took to Twitter yesterday and posted a bunch of photos. The photos are of the same location but were taken by the OnePlus 6, iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9, and the Google Pixel 2. However, OnePlus didn’t specify which device took which image, therefore leaving us to our guesses. Can you tell which one was taken by the OnePlus 6?
The OnePlus 6 will come with dual rear cameras just like the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. One is a 20MP sensor and the other is a 16MP sensor. It will also have a 16MP front-facing camera.
The above pictures are not the only ones from what OnePlus has tagged the Blind Test. There are others that pit the phones against each other in portrait, low-light, and low light portrait tests.
Nubia released the mid-range V18 over two months ago. The phone was announced in Stone Black, Space Gold, and Nebula Red but only the first two color variants have been available for purchase. If you like red phones, you can now pre-order the Nebula Red Nubia V18.
The new color variant has been released ahead of Mother’s Day (tomorrow). It will actually go on sale on Tuesday, 15th of May for ¥1299 (~$205). However, those who pre-order and pay the sum of ¥99 (~$16) upfront will get a free pair of wired earphones worth ¥99 along with their order.
The Nubia V18 has a 6.01” FHD+ screen, a Snapdragon 625 processor, and 4GB of RAM. Built-in storage is 64GB and can be expanded via a MicroSD card slot (128GB max).
It has a single 13MP f/2.2 sensor on the rear and an 8MP f/2.0 wide-angle front-facing camera. There are a bunch of AI-based camera features for amazing selfies and some other fun camera modes.
Haier isn’t a popular name in the smartphone market, but the company does release a couple of handset every once in a while. After a long silence in this department, the company has just announced a brand new model in China, the Haier L8. As expected, the phone isn’t meant to be a powerhouse but it features a large battery to ensure that the phone lasts for a couple of days easily.
The Haier L8 embraces the 18:9 design trend, featuring a large 5.99-inch screen with FHD+ resolution and 2.5D glass. The phone features an anodised aluminium body with U shaped antenna bands. The back features a vertically arranged dual cameras placed at the center, with the flash and fingerprint reader below it.

As for the hardware, the Haier L8 comes with the low-end Snapdragon 450 clocked up to 1.8GHz. Efficiency is the biggest asset of this chip and hence the 4000mAh battery inside will ensure that the phone will last a couple of days easily. Further, there’s 18W fast charging technology to ensure super quick charging. For memory, you have 4GB RAM and 64GB of ROM. There are dual SIM card slots and a memory card slot too (kind of like what we see on Redmi S2). The rear camera setup consists of a 12MP 1.25um sensor paired with a 2MP secondary sensor for depth of field. On the front, there’s an 8MP camera, which is likely interpolated.
All this for 1399 Yuan ($221), which to be honest, doesn’t look too promising. Xiaomi’s budget phones like the Redmi S2, Redmi 5 Plus, and the Redmi Note 5 are all priced at very similar figures. So, it’s likely that the Haier L8 will be one of those releases that will be forgotten very soon.
Still, if interested, you can get the phone on May 14 in China.
A new LG model has been spotted on Geekbench with the dressings of a mid-range model. The device is believed to be the LG Q7 which LG trademarked the moniker in March with the Korean Intellectual Property Office.
The Geekbench listing seems to have confirmed that the device will arrive with a MediaTek Helio P10 chipset. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM while it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. On the test score, the Q7 got a single core score of 630 points and 2322 points on the multi-core test.
BlackBerry Mobile has announced via its Twitter account that the BlackBerry KEY² will launch next month.
The tweet not only confirms the launch date as 7th of June but also confirms the name of the phone is KEY² and not KEYone (2018) or KEYtwo or any other name you may have conjured up. The launch event will take place in New York at 10 AM local time.
A few weeks ago, photos of the phone which is codenamed Athena were seen on TENAA. They revealed the phone has a slightly redesigned keyboard, a somewhat taller display, and dual rear cameras. It also has its power and volume buttons along with the convenience key on the right.

Right after the announcement of Android P, Qualcomm announced that it is working with Google in order to release a new SoC for smartwatches with Wear OS (in case you do not know, Google has recently decided to rebrand Android Wear and now it is called Wear OS). It will be the successor of Snapdragon Wear 2100, but, unlike this SoC which was just a modified Snapdragon 400, it will be a brand new processor made from scratch and specifically based on Wear OS.
The chipset from the St. Diego-based company will several improvements compared with its predecessor. Chinese phone maker Vivo has officially revealed that it would be launching the Vivo X21 UD version in India on May 29. The company sent out invitations which point to a launch of the X21 UD on the date even though it isn’t exactly stated in the invite. However, the letter X inscribed boldly on the invitation speaks volume.
The Vivo X21 UD was first launched in China in March. Earlier this month, Vivo had introduced the X21 UD in several international markets with it’s biggest highlight being its under display fingerprint scanner similar to what obtains on the Vivo X20 Plus UD version. In terms of pricing, the Vivo X21 UD was priced at 3,598 yuan (~Rs. 37,100) in China. At its Singapore launch, the smartphone was priced at SGD 799 (~Rs. 39,900).
As a reminder, the Vivo X21 UD smartphone comes with a 6.28-inch Full-HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a screen resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. Xiaomi has officially revealed a move which would see it increase the number of its products that are available in the U.S. The company recently launched the Mi Electric Scooter and Mi Powerbank Pro on Amazon U.S, both joining several other of its products presently available in the U.S market via Amazon. Now, the innovative Chinese company has announced the launch of its smart home products for the U.S market.
Xiaomi has a comprehensive suite of products most of which are manufactured by companies under the Mi ecosystem chain. The products are centred on its smartphones and include mobile peripherals, smart hardware and lifestyle products ranging from rice cookers to fitness trackers. The products which would be among the first set of Mi-branded smart home products that will be available in the U.S starting from this May include the Mi Bedside Lamp, Mi LED Smart Bulb and Mi Smart Plug. The interesting part of the announcement is that the Mi smart home products will come with support from Google Assistant meaning they can be controlled by voice command. This is in line with Xiaomi’s announcement at Google I/O 2018 that its smart home products will now work with the Google Assistant, allowing users to control products through a smart speaker, like the Google Home, or with the Google Assistant app.

Mi LED Smart Bulb will add color to any room, supporting up to 16 million colors. With support for the Google Assistant, users no longer have to get out of bed to turn off the lights and can also control brightness and color temperature verbally.
Mi Smart Plug
The Mi Smart Plug is a smart Wi-Fi plug that allows users to turn power on and off using an app. Now users can turn the power on and off by simply asking the Google Assistant. The smart plug also enables consumers to issue a voice command to their favorite “non-smart” gadgets.
According to Xiaomi, the smart home products will be available in the U.S. shortly and the Mi Bedside Lamp will be the first to be available this May. It will likely be sold via Amazon where Xiaomi already sells the smart Yeelight LED bulb. We’ll keep you posted when it goes on sale.
Xiaomi went official with the Redmi S2 in China recently with the device clutching a decent specs lineup inside a solid body. Xiaomi Redmi S2 is a low-end midrange smartphone which Xiaomi says is targeted as selfie lovers. The device comes with several features to back that up including a large 16MP selfie camera with AI features. We bring you unboxing pictures of the device spotted on Chinese blog MyDrivers.
On the design aspect, Xiaomi Redmi S2 utilizes a 5.99-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device looks very much similar to the Mi 6X which was also launched recently but in this case, the display has an HD+ resolution of 1440 x 720p. Also, it features a different-looking 2 string U-shaped antenna design. The Redmi S2 also packs a metal back on which a fingerprint sensor is mounted. The device is also equipped with dual cameras at the rear comprising a 12MP + 5MP sensors with configurations such as a f/2.2 lens, PDAF, LED flash, facial recognition, AI portrait mode, and HDR. In addition, the chin features a MicroUSB port and speakers, while the top has a headphone jack and infrared blaster.
Just to remind us of the internal specs, the Redmi S2 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. There are two storage variants available: 3+32GB and 4+64GB. One interesting thing about the S2 is that it comes with dual SIM slots and a third microSD slot which allows for expansion of the storage up to 256GB. This is similar to what we saw on the Redmi Note 5A, so you won’t have to sacrifice a SIM slot for the microSD card like what is obtainable on the Redmi 4-series.

Soon to be listed on Hong Kong stock exchange, Xiaomi has become one of the most important hi-tech companies in the world. That is why we always expect very innovative technological products by this Chinese giant and this week wasn’t any different as the company has just announced a new watch, but it is not an innovative smartwatch with tons of features like the wonderful Amazfit series, neither an advanced fitness tracker like the Xiaomi Mi Band 3.
This time, Xiaomi has announced a simple I8 quartz watch which is focused on style and elegance, and it does not boast any smart features. Xiaomi’s I8 quartz watch has a minimalist design and a 6.2-mm thin body with a circular case. The straps are made of steel and, to be accurate, they have been forged from high-tech Vintage Milanese steel. This will make the Xiaomi I8 quartz watch tearproof. The watch also boasts a sapphire glass mirror which is scratch-resistant and scratch-proof.
The watch has a 2.28 mm Citizen Citroën quartz movement; you can even put it underwater as it is waterproof up to 50 m depth. Unlike smartwatches, it does not feature a rechargeable battery but a normal circular battery which can last up to 5 years. It has been launched in China in two versions (41 and 36 mm) with a price tag of 399 Yuan which roughly translates into $63.
With its TVs, Xiaomi seems to be following the same strategy it follows in the smartphones market: in the past few years, the company has managed to release a TV aimed at different price segments in order to ensure there’s a choice for every consumer. After launching Mi TV 4, 4A and 4C, the Chinese firm has just released a brand new variant of Xiaomi Mi TV 4S. It has been launched in the Chinese market with a price tag of 2399 Yuan, which roughly translates into $500. This model is an outstanding TV, but it is not the most expensive from the series as the prices go from 999 to 9999 Yuan.
Xiaomi Mi TV 4S comes with a wide 50-inch LCD display which has a 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels and HDR technology. This is not the first TV from the 4S series which also includes a more affordable 32-inch model with a price of 1199 Yuan (about $400) and a more expensive 55-inch variant which costs 2999 Yuan (about $500). Mi TV 4S is also a smart TV and it is powered by a quad-core Cortex A53 running at a frequency of 1.5 GHz (including a Mali 450 GPU), 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage.
Talking about connectivity, there is support for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, three HDMI ports, two USB ports and even one Ethernet port. It also supports PatchWall AI system. The TV frame is made of aviation grade aluminum. With its price tag, Xiaomi Mi TV 4S is the perfect TV in terms of quality and price ratio as it offers high-end features and video quality at a mid-range price. The TV will be up for pre-orders starting from today, while it will be officially available to purchase starting from May 13 for 2399 Yuan. Smartphone gaming market has really boomed in the past couple of years. We are seeing new and powerful games on smartphones like PUGB and Fortnite that have driven the growth of dedicated gaming smartphones. After the great success of Razer Phone, other brands have started working on such gaming devices.
Xiaomi launched the Black Shark and right after, Nubia came with its Red Magic. We knew from a report weeks ago that even Asus, which is one of the most important manufacturers in the gaming PCs sector, is working on a gaming phone. The device is tipped to be from the ROG series (Republic of Gamers), that is the same brand under which most of the gaming hardware by ASUS gets released.
According to Taiwan Insiders, the first gaming phone by ASUS is going to be unveiled in June at Computex 2018. Unfortunately, we are not talking about official info, and neither the specs of the handset have been revealed. But given that it is a gaming smartphone, we expect to see it with an octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset by Qualcomm under the hood, paired with up to 8 GB of RAM. Spanish electronics manufacturer BQ is well known for its Android One-totting smartphones. The company has now launched two new Android One phones that adopt the moniker BQ Aquaris X2 and Aquaris X2 Pro. Both models are upper mid-rangers even though they sure come with a premium design.
BQ Aquaris X2 Specs
As for the specifications, the Aquaris X2 is equipped with a 5.65-inch FHD+ display with rather slim small bezels on the top and bottom. A 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protects the display. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage for the base model and 4GB + 64GB for the more premium one. The body is made of aluminium frame combined with a plastic back. The device also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
The X2 packs a dual camera setup at the back which includes a 12MP (f/1.8) + 5MP sensors with extra emphasis on portrait mode. The selfie shooter also comes with some cool features such as the SoftNeuro patented technology that produces a bokeh effect by detecting your face and blurring the background. In addition, the Aquaris X2 is fired up by a 3,100 mAh battery supporting Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+.
BQ Aquaris X2 Pro Specs
The BQ Aquaris X2 Pro as the name implies is an improved model when compared to the Aquaris X2. It packs a similar 5.65-inch FHD+ display with a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass on top. It is powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset While its memory starts at 4GB + 64GB configuration and goes up to 6GB + 128GB. The chassis is also a bit better as it features 3D glass instead of plastic while retaining the aluminium frame.
The rest of the specs and features are the same for both devices and they are both powered by Android One for a vanilla Android experience.
As far as the prices go, the Aquaris X2 starting at €309.90 and the X2 Pro priced at €389,90. The Aquaris X2 is available in Carbon Black/Sand Gold while the X2 Pro comes in Midnight Black/Glaze White and Deep Silver. Both models will be available to buy soon.
Finally, the Nuts series by Smartisan is going to embrace a flagship after several mid-rangers. It has been confirmed by the company’s VP Wu Dezhou: the man has published a very long post on the microblogging platform Weibo hinting at flagship-level specs. The handset will be called Smartisan Nuts R1 and, with its post, Dezhou has confirmed that it will sport the best Qualcomm SoC of 2018. We are referring to the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 running at a frequency of 2.8 GHz.
No other details of the specs sheet have been revealed, but the post reveals many important features of the device. Smartisan Nuts R1 will boast interesting input-related innovations: according to reports, we will see a brand new gesture control. The device will have high screen-to-body ratio, which makes the presence of the gesture control a more reliable hypothesis. According to the post, it will also have an improved camera, and it would not be the first time that Smartisan releases an outstanding device in terms of photo quality, even in low light conditions. Artificial intelligence will also play an important role and it was expected as the device boasts a Snapdragon 845 SoC which has a dedicated module for AI.
Smartisan Nut Pro 2
We still do not know whether AI will only be focused to improve camera performance or even the user experience. At last, it has been confirmed that the device will support a wireless and fast charging technology. This means that Smartisan Nuts R1 will not have a full aluminum unibody design as it is currently impossible for full metal devices to support wireless charging. Given that it will be a flagship, it will have either a glass or a ceramic back. Further, expect a singular and original design (and user interface) just like every other device released by Smartisan. The device will be officially announced at the Beijing National Stadium on May 15.
Meizu is one innovative Chinese phone maker that we believe isn’t where it is supposed to be up at the top. The company is climbing up gradually and targeting the international market is the sure way to go. That is what the company seems to be cooking up going by a recent FCC listing for two new Meizu models. The models come with the model numbers Meizu M809L and M810L was certified by the U.S regulatory agency recently which is a signal that the models may soon go official.
The names of the models are not yet officially revealed but a reliable source hinted that the M809H/L will be christened Meizu M8c and the M810H/L known as M8c Lite. They are likely successors of the Meizu M6, M6 Note and M6s which went official in September last year. Meizu seems to have skipped the number 7 in the naming of the next M-series models.

The FCC listing gave a glimpse of the specifications of both models and from the look of things, they are entry-level phones. The M8c is expected to feature a single 13MPrear camera as well as an 8MP selfie camera. The device also comes with a 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. The M8c also run on Android-based Flyme OS. The M8c Lite, on the other hand, looks more interesting as it is an Android Go smartphone which means we get stock Android. The rest of its specs are pretty low-end and it includes a single 8MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, 1GB RAM, and 8GB internal storage.
Both models are dual-SIM phones and come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support. There are also a host of supported bands including Band 20 which position them to be sold globally.
A well-known tipster from China with @UniverseIce Twitter account has shared a leaked render of the upcoming Galaxy Note 9. The render reveals that the upcoming Samsung’s Note series phablet will not be arriving with any major change in design as compared to the predecessor Galaxy Note8.
The leaked render shows only the front view of the Galaxy Note 9 with the S Pen stylus standing next to it. The appearance of the Note 9 is almost identical to the Galaxy Note 8 from last year. This suggests that the Galaxy Note 9 may feature a 6.4-inch QHD+ resolution supporting S-AMOLED Infinity Display that delivers an aspect ratio of 18.5:9.
If the Note 9 render is not fake, it seems that Samsung has no plans to bring any design changes on it. According to the leakster, the Note 9 is 2mm shorter than the predecessor model.
In the recent past, the tipster had also claimed that the design of the Note 9 could be similar to the Galaxy S9. If the frontside of the Note 9 looks like the Note 8 then the rear design of its back panel could be similar to the S9. Hence, the Note 9 may feature a dual camera setup with a fingerprint placed below it.
Rumors have it that the Galaxy Note 9 could be the first Samsung phone to feature under-display fingerprint scanner. The leakster has also claimed through another Twitter post that it is almost certain that the Note 9 will not be featuring the advanced biometric recognition feature. It seems that the in-screen fingerprint sensor feature may get introduced on the Galaxy S10 smartphone that will launch in the coming year.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is likely to be powered the Snapdragon 845. Its Exynos SoC edition may feature the rumored Exynos 9820 chipset. In the past, the leakster had also claimed that the phablet would be packed with a 3,850mAh or 4,000mAh battery that will be enabled with 9V / 2A charging. The Note 9 may borrow features like variable camera aperture and stereo speakers from the Galaxy S9+.
It is speculated that the South Korean company may debut the Galaxy Note 9 in early August this year. This indicates that the smartphone may hit the market by mid or late August.
Companies have often skipped certain names for their flagships. There can be different reasons for the same, like how OnePlus skipped the OnePlus 4 name because 4 is considered unlucky in the Chinese culture or how Samsung skipped the Galaxy Note 6 name to align with the numbering of its Galaxy S series. It looks like Xiaomi is also going to skip a number for its upcoming Mi series flagship.
Traditionally, after the Mi 6’s launch back in 2017, we should be seeing the Mi 7 flagship in 2018. However, the popular blogger from China, Mocha RQ claims that Xiaomi will skip the Mi 7 name in favour of calling it the Xiaomi Mi 8. He explains that the company wants the name to align with its 8th anniversary. Chinese companies are often obsessed with numbers and it kind of make sense how Xiaomi would want to call its new Mi series flagship as the Xiaomi Mi 8 to celebrate its 8th anniversary in 2018. Further, he adds that the phone will be announced in May but will go on sale in June.
Just a few hours ago, there was another report that claimed the existence of Xiaomi’s 8th anniversary phone. However, the report added that it would be a special edition model that would launch alongside the Mi 7. That kind of contradicts this statement from MochaRQ who claims that there won’t be a Mi 7 at all.
Irrespective of whether it’ll be called as the Mi 7 or the Mi 8, we know that the new model will come with powerful specs. It’s said that the phone will be the first Android flagship to feature 3D facial recognition technology embedded in its notch. Other likely features include Snapdragon 845, 8GB RAM, and maybe even a 256GB ROM option. But these are just speculations at the moment.

OPPO will be launching the Realme sub-brand in India on May 15. The very first phone to get introduced under the new brand is Realme 1. Few hours ago, an Indian publication had had published an unboxing article of the Realme 1 phone before its official announcement. The article is no longer accessible, but the some of hands-on images of the phone are available for viewing on leaks aggregator website, SlashLeaks. Previous reports have revealed that it is the rebranded version of the OPPO A3 phone that was launched in China in the recent past. However, newer reports have suggested that the specs of Realme 1 won’t be exactly same of OPPO A3.
The above image shows that the OPPO Realme 1’s box package includes charger, documentation, SIM ejector, micro USB cable and a plastic case. Amazon India has already teased the rear side of Diamond Black edition of the Realme 1 that features a metallic rear with multiple polygonal designs on it. The bottom edge of the phone features an external speaker, a microUSB 2.0 port and a 3.5mm audio jack.
The OPPO A3 phones features a notched display, but the Realme 1 features a regular 18:9 aspect ratio screen that offers 2160 x 1080 pixels. The MediaTek MT6771 Helio P60 chipset that features a dedicating AI processing unit powers the smartphone along with 6 GB of RAM. The OPPO A3 has 4 GB of RAM.
The Realme 1 has a native storage of 128 GB. For additional storage, it has a microSD card slot. The handset is fueled by a 3,410mAh battery which is negligibly bigger than 3,400mAh battery of OPPO A3. It is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo that is overlaid with Color OS 5.0. It features a 13-megapixel rear camera whereas the OPPO A3 has a 16-megapixel rear-mounted snapper. For shooting selfies, it has a front camera of 8-megapixel. Teasers available on Amazon India have revealed that the Realme 1 will offer couple of AI features such as AI Selfie and AI Battery Management.
