The One UI 8.5 beta program was limited to the Galaxy S25 series for months, and just when users were expecting the stable rollout to begin, Samsung started expanding the beta program to more Galaxy devices.

In early March 2026, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 joined the One UI 8.5 beta program, and later that month, the beta expanded to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy S25 FE, Galaxy S24 FE, Galaxy Tab S11 series, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6. The list may still be incomplete as more Galaxy devices could get the One UI 8.5 beta in the coming weeks.

Earlier this week, the first One UI 8.5 beta build for these Galaxy smartphones was spotted (1, 2) on Samsung’s servers, suggesting that the brand could open the One UI 8.5 beta program for them soon.

While opening the beta program would allow more Samsung users to gain early access to the upcoming features and upgrades, it could also result in some delay to the stable rollout.

One UI 8.5 is still based on Android 16, but it uses a newer QPR2 build that brings extra features and enhancements from Google. Plus, the update includes a host of new features and changes from the One UI team, including a fully customizable Quick Settings, allowing you to resize, rearrange, and organize toggles and sliders.

The update also includes updated app icons, featuring a bit of 3D effect, for the first-party apps at least. Further, the lock screen has been updated to automatically adjust the clock and date. It can now show weather visuals based on the current conditions.

A key upgrade in One UI 8.5 is the adoption of a modern floating tab bar UI, a pill-shaped UI element with a frosted color scheme, replacing the traditional plain tab bar at the bottom. The new software introduces “Now Nudge” to proactively suggest actions and information based on the content on the screen. It also introduces some important features, including Partial screen recording, Audio broadcast, Storage share, Failed authentication lock, and Theft protection. Natural language-based search for Settings

Ever been in a situation where you needed to change a particular setting but didn’t exactly know where it exists inside settings? Well, it’s no more a problem. With the new intelligent search feature integrated into the Settings app, you can just describe what you want, and your phone leads to that specific toggle. One example the company showcased is “My eyes are feeling tired,” which automatically brings you the toggle to enable the “Eye Comfort Shield” or lets you adjust the brightness.

And even if know where to find out the option you’re looking for, something you have to click and scroll multiple times before you get to the target page. It just makes the features more accessible and easy to use.

Unfortunately, this intuitive feature isn’t going to be a part of the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5.

Audio Eraser

In a world where a significant portion of the human population creates content, this feature to remove unwanted sound or noise with just a few clicks could be a lifesaver. Unfortunately, this feature remains exclusive to the more recent flagships and won’t be a part of the above-mentioned foldables.

For those considering the Galaxy S25 series or an upcoming flagship, this feature will let you reduce or remove up to six types of background noise from your videos. That said, it seems like Samsung wants you to upgrade to the newer models and One UI 7 is there to motivate you to do so.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 offers a smartphone as well as a tablet experience, but the additional hardware adds to the overall weight, which is 253 grams. So, it’s a heavyweight smartphone, which many could struggle with when holding for a longer period.

Overall, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is a solid deal, but you’ll have to pay a premium price. However, cheaper alternatives exist, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Motorola Razr+ (2024).

3. Samsung Galaxy A55

It’s a surprisingly good mid-range phone that offers an excellent blend of hardware, software, and affordability. Its 6.6-inch vibrant AMOLED screen feels smooth and easy on the eyes, and the large touchscreen and well-organized interface make navigating smooth and effortless.

4. Samsung Galaxy A25

The Galaxy A25 5G is pretty impressive, considering its ultra-affordable price tag. While the plastic frame and back panel will not impress you, it excels in many aspects, making it a viable option under $200.

The large 6.5-inch AMOLED screen refreshes at 120Hz. Overall, it’s a nice display, but the visibility could be better outdoors. It’s an excellent display, otherwise.

The Galaxy A25 is driven by the Exynos 1280 chip. Honestly, it’s not a high-performance chip, but good enough to smoothly handle social media, basic apps, and internet browsing. However, there may be occasional lags.

The camera performs well in good lighting conditions, but low-light performance isn’t impressive. But for the price, it’s a good camera setup. Another plus point of Galaxy A25 is the battery backup. With 5,000mAh capacity and 25W fast charging, it matches some flagship models like the Galaxy S24, easily lasting for a full day.

If you are looking for a more cheaper option, Galaxy A15 5G is there, featuring the same 6.5-inch AMOLED screen. It also has 50MP triple rear cameras (lacks OIS) and an impressive battery backup. The chipset is Dimensity 6100+, which handles basic tasks without any lag.

Which devices received the One UI 6.1.1 update?

The South Korean tech giant has released the One UI 6.1.1 update for last year’s Galaxy S23 series (Via AndroidAuthority). In other words, the older flagship Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23+, and Galaxy S23 Ultra are now receiving this update. Apart from these three models, Samsung has also rolled out the update for the previous gen Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Availability & Download Size

Unfortunately, this update is currently only available in South Korea. So we can expect a wider release soon in regions like US, UK, Asia, and Europe. The One UI 6.1.1 update is over 2GB in size, so make sure you have enough space before downloading and installing the software upgrade.

The Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra are getting the S918NKSU4CXH7/S918NOKR4CXH7/S918NKSU4CXH7 firmware versions respectively. Even the Galaxy S23 FE is receiving the S711NKSU3BXH7 build number. Samsung has been busy rolling out the One UI 6.1 update to Galaxy phones in the first half of 2024. Now that most of the compatible models have received the update, the company is shifting its focus to One UI 6.1.1, another major software update that will exclusively target Galaxy Fold and Flip phones and S-series tablets.

New details from tipster Tarun Vats suggest that Samsung has already started internal testing of One UI 6.1.1 for both the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5. 

The tipster spotted two new firmware versions of One UI 6.1.1 on Samsung’s servers: F946BXXU2DXF1 and F731BXXU2DXF1 which reportedly correspond to the Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 respectively. It’s important to note that these are internal builds, and Samsung may test several iterations of One UI 6.1.1 before a public beta is available.

Considering this internal testing phase, users will likely have to wait for several weeks to get their hands on the beta version of One UI 6.1.1.

The official release of a stable One UI 6.1.1 update is expected to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Flip 6, which is rumored to take place at Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024.

Although the specific features of One UI 6.1.1 are still unknown, more information about the OS is likely to emerge closer to its release. The update could introduce functionalities that specifically cater to the unique form factors of Samsung’s foldable smartphones.

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 launched last year as a premium foldable smartphone. While Samsung was known for dominating the segment in the past, Chinese brands have managed to catch up. So now, here are a couple of reasons why the Huawei Mate X5 foldable model is better than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Huawei Mate X5 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5: Thinner & Lighter

Flip phones are usually more compact and easier to carry, but the notebook folding flagship device have been infamous for their bulk and heft. Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 is one such example, measuring a chunky 13.4mm (6.1mm when unfolded) in thickness and weighing 253 grams.

On the other hand, the Huawei Mate X5 comes in at just 11.1mm thick (5.3mm when unfolded) and weighs around 243 grams. While this might not seem like much, the difference can be felt when holding the two devices. Regardless, both models are quite heavy when compared to regular smartphones. So any trim on the side is appreciated.

Higher resolution display

It is hard to get into a full-on display comparison between the two models since they both offer a top-notch panel. However, an area where the Mate X5 edges ahead is the resolution. On its primary 7.85-inch panel, it offers 2224 x 2496 resolution which means you get a 426ppi density.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 has a slightly smaller 7.6-inch screen but with a lower 1812 x 2176 resolution and 373ppi density. Since it is such a large display (on a phone at least), the higher PPI does help in offering a better viewing experience.

Bigger Battery & Faster Charging

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is powered by a 4,400mAh battery pack that supports 25W wired fast charging, 15W wireless fast charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. This is decent as battery and charging specs go but it isn’t exactly a great deal considering the price you pay for the Z Fold 5.

Outshining Samsung’s flagship, the Mate X5 offers a more respectable 5,060mAh battery pack. You also get 66W wired, 50W wireless, and 7.5W wireless fast charging. So in a situation where you need to charge your device on the go, the Huawei flagship is a lot more convenient.

Camera Setup

Huawei and Samsung have offered a capable camera system on their respective foldable phones. Both feature a triple camera setup at the back with a 50-megapixel primary sensor. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 pairs the main camera with a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter and a 13-megapixel ultra wide angle lens. For selfies and video calls, the cover panel has a 10-megapixel camera and the main display has a 4-megapixel under-display shooter.

This setup is mirrored on the Mate X5, but the telephoto shooter has a higher resolution 12-megapixel sensor as well as a 13-megapixel ultra wide angle lens. It even offers a higher 5x optical zoom from the telephoto shooter compared to the 3x optical zoom on the Z Fold 5. You also get an 8-megapixel camera on both the primary and secondary screen.

Glass or Leather: Huawei offers both

Having more options is always better and Huawei let’s you choose between what your device is built with. You can either opt for a glass rear panel or go for the eco leather back. Both options are premium and are surrounded by an aluminum frame. Samsung comes with this metallic frame as well, but doesn’t offer the vegan leather option. So there is only a glass variant. For protection, the duo comes with the IPX8 rating for water resistance.

The South Korean tech giant’s latest update is upgrading the security patch level on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 to March 2024. It is worth noting that this update is currently rolling out in India and only helps keep the device updated for better security. In other words, the foldable phone won’t see any major improvements in aspects like performance or photography. You can head to Settings and then go to Software Update. If you have received the update, then simply tap on “Download and Install”. The software update package is around 400MB in size.

To recall, the brand released the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 globally back in July 2023. This model arrives with an improved hinge design compared to its predecessor along with top notch specs and features. The primary screen is a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel that offers 2K+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the cover display is a 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x screen that also offers a 120Hz refresh rate and 904 x 2316 resolution.

Along with the fifth-generation foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 5, S23 FE, and the Galaxy A54 are also among the devices receiving the latest stable software update. The rollout that is underway is a good news for owners of Samsung phones. The OneUI 6 was announced last month and it comes with a host of new features and changes. 

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 gets stable Android 14 update

The One UI 6-based Android 14 update is rolling out to Galaxy Z Fold 5 users on the Verizon carrier. The update notification is appearing for users in a phased manner and it should be available for everybody across the carrier’s network soon. If you own a Verizon-activated Fold 5 in the US, you can check it by heading to Settings > System Update > Download and Install. If there is no prompt to update, users can find out if an update is available by tapping on Check for Updates. 

The OneUI 6-based Android 14 update for Galaxy Z Fold 5 in the US has the version number F946USQU1BWK9. Alongside the various new software changes and features, the update also brings the November 2023 security patch. It’s expected that the latest update will make its way to all carriers and unlocked units in all countries very soon. 

The latest update for Verizon also details the changelog for the Z Fold 5. The OneUI 6 is said to be the biggest software update from Samsung. Earlier, we reported that Samsung has started rolling out One UI 6.0 beta 4 for the Galaxy S23 series. This Android 14-based OS included various UI improvements and fixes. But what really caught our attention was that beta 4 arrived with the October security patch. Now, according to a recent report that has surfaced online, Samsung has started releasing the October security update 2023. Read on to learn more about the update.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Galaxy Z Fold 5 have started receiving the October security patch. The update arrives with the build versions F731USQS1AWI3 and F946USQS1AWI3 for Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Fold 5, respectively. It is worth noting that these security updates are majorly focused on security that helps keep the device stable and safe. In terms of the security update, the latest patch fixes over two critical vulnerabilities, a dozen high-risk faults, and 12 SVE (Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures).

Furthermore, the patch is currently available in the US for the carrier-locked versions of these smartphones. However, we expect the company to release the patch globally in the future. Those who are eligible for the update can head over to Settings > Software update > Download and Install to upgrade the device to the latest version.

The new variant features a sleek black pebble leather exterior that includes red, white, and blue stripes along with fabric texture, a gold hinge, and golden rings around the cameras, which adds to its premium aesthetic.

Furthermore, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 Thom Browne Edition also arrives with two special leather pouch cases and a special S Pen version as well. While speaking at the IFA 2023 went in Berlin, Benjamin Braun, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Europe, said, “Our latest foldable phones are selling super-fast. In fact, the annual sales of our foldable devices have exceeded the Note series in Europe.” The company didn’t mention any exact figures and details about other markets. But mentioned the sales ratio of 7:3 between the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. The buyers opted for Graphite and Mint colors while grabbing Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the Icy Blue and Phantom Black Galaxy Z Fold 5.

It is a great achievement for the Samsung Mobile team, as alongside the sales, the Average Selling Price – ASP has increased considerably over time. The expectations of Samsung seem to have aligned well with the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 sales.

Recent reports also confirmed better sales of the new Galaxy Foldables in other markets. In India, Samsung registered a 70% increase in pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5. On the global stage, the sales have already surpassed 10 million units.

In a new teaser, Samsung Mobile posted, “A unique vision of innovation, at its most elegant – the new @ThomBrowne Edition will be as striking as it is inviting. Save the date for September 7th. #GalaxyxThomBrowne”

The new special edition Galaxy Z Fold 5 would feature themed accessories and may ship in a bundle. However, the device specifications would be the same, but we expect unique design changes, a new Thom Browne theme along a set of new wallpapers. Detail about the RAM and storage is not yet available, but we expect it before the official launch.

Samsung has not partnered for the first time, we have already seen the Thom Browne Edition of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphones.

After a leak yesterday, Samsung has officially teased the new edition of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5.

The collaboration with the fashion house Thom Browne seems to be official now as Samsung teased it via the official handle on the X platform (formerly Twitter). The video teaser with the caption “take a seat at the Thom Browne table for a celebration of a new experience in design and innovation” is now live.

The video teaser shows Thom Brown stripes in a cardboard cutout in the shape of the Galaxy Z Fold. It is not the first time, Thom Browne has partnered with Samsung for a special edition. We have seen the Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne Special edition, and even the Galaxy Z Fold 3.

Apart from the design teaser, there are no other details about the device specifications and availability yet.

However, it is highly likely that the smartphone would feature the same specifications as the Standard Galaxy Z Fold 5. It features a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC coupled with 12GB RAM and 256/512/1TB storage. It houses a 50MP + 12MP ultrawide sensor on the rear side a 10MP under-display camera on the front and 4MP on the cover. It features a 4400mAh battery with 25W wired and 15W wireless charging support.

Foldables can feel a bit heavy, but that’s a compromise for the expansive screens they offer. Here, the Mix Fold 3’s slim and elegant design clearly positions it as the superior choice in aesthetics when compared to the Galaxy Z Fold 5.

Display

When making a side-by-side comparison, the sizes of both the inner and cover displays are important. The Mix Fold 3 boasts a large 8.01-inch inner AMOLED display, enhancing multimedia and multitasking experiences. Its cover display measures 6.52 inches, making it suitable for quick tasks and notifications without unfolding.

Conversely, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 offers a 7.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X inner display, promising vibrant visuals, while its 6.7-inch cover display provides a more conventional smartphone feel when folded.

So, the Mix Fold 3 has a slight edge over the Z Fold 5 in terms of day-to-day usage, mainly due to its larger inner display. Since foldable phones are often chosen for their expansive screens, the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is definitely a better option.

Durability

Another talking point is durability. Foldables are still relatively new, and one of the significant concerns is how often you can fold and unfold these devices before they give in. Xiaomi promises a whopping 500,000 folds for the Mix Fold 3. That’s more than double what Samsung and Google are putting on the table.

By 2025, Samsung plans for half of its smartphone sales to come from foldable models. This means foldable phones will be as significant to the company as its Galaxy S series. The company already holds a leading position in the foldable phone market. In 2022, Samsung had a whopping 77% of the global foldable phone market share. Before launch, reliable tipster Ishan Agarwal revealed storage variants, color options, and sale date timeframe of the next-generation foldables for the Indian market.

According to the tipster, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will arrive in three shades, such as Phantom Black, Cream, and Icy Blue. It will be available in three storage options: 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB.

On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will come in color options, such as Graphite, Cream, Lavender, and Mint. It will come in storage variants, such as 128 GB and 256 GB.

The upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event from Samsung will take place on 26th July at 07:00 AM ET. The poster shared by the company also teases the next-generation foldable smartphone from the brand.

The Galaxy Unpacked launch event will be live-streamed on Samsung’s official website as well as on its YouTube channel. Apart from the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 smartphones, the company is also expected to launch a few other devices at the event, including the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series, tablets, and earphones.

As for the phones, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be an incremental update with a slightly smaller and lighter design, a more durable hinge, and an improved user experience. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is expected to come with a larger front-facing display and a more powerful processor.

The South Korean tech giant is also offering pre-order reservations for the foldable smartphones, offering a $50 credit when the customer places a pre-order. The reservation window will be open starting tonight through the 25th of July.

Ahead of the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event, hands-on images of the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 have surfaced online. The leaked images, shared by tipster Ahmed Qwaider, provide a glimpse into the phone’s redesigned hinge and rear camera layout.

One notable improvement apparent from the leaked images is the absence of any noticeable gap between the two folding halves of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. This represents a significant advancement compared to previous iterations of the Galaxy Z Fold series. Samsung appears to have adopted a new waterdrop-shaped hinge, similar to those seen in other foldable phones, which eliminates the gap and minimizes creasing on the internal screen.

A series of new leaks have recently surfaced online, revealing the full specifications of the next gen flagship foldable smartphones from Samsung and even their design via leaked renders and live images. So here’s a breakdown of all the information on the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

The South Korean tech giant’s Galaxy Z Fold 5 model is the top-end device in the upcoming 5th Gen Z series. Now, a new leak from SnoopyTech has revealed the design renders of the upcoming foldable phone as well as its full specs. Looking at the design first, we can tell that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 retains the design of its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Fold 4, with a notebook-like horizontal folding primary display, a tall external screen, and a vertically stacked triple camera setup.

The primary panel is a 7.6 inch Dynamic AMOLED display with a 2,176 x 1,812 pixel resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the cover display is a 6.2 inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2,316 x 904 pixel resolution. Under the hood, the device will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, which will be paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 will be powered by a 4,400mAh battery pack and will run on Android 13 OS based OneUI 5.1.1 out of the box.

The rear will house a 50 megapixel triple camera setup, while the front has a 5 megapixel under display camera on the primary screen and a 10 megapixel shooter on the secondary panel as well. Other notable features include NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, a USB-C 3.2 port, nanoSIM, and eSIM support. Galaxy Z Flip 5

Unlike its more expensive sibling, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 model will be getting a major upgrade in design over its predecessor. Similar to the new Moto Razr 40 Ultra, it sports a taller cover display that has a 3.4 inch size and HD resolution. On the other hand, the primary screen is a 6.7 inch Dynamic AMOLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 powers his device as well, with 8GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage.

Other notable features include Android 13, USB Type-C 3.2, Bluetooth 5.2, and Wi-Fi 6E. The leak from SnoopyTech offers us a look at the design of this device as well, but a separate leak from Revegnus offers us a look at the device in public with a cover. Looking at the live image, we can see the taller cover display offering more functionality with its Always on Display displaying an analog clock.

Revegnus added that the Z Flip 5’s battery life will be similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 from its 3,700mAh battery pack. This model will also launch in multiple colors, which include Lavender, Mint, Cream, and Graphite color variants. Notably, the two foldable phones will be unveiled during the Galaxy Unpacked event next month alongside the new Galaxy Watch 6 series, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and Galaxy Buds 3.

Samsung has a lineup of foldable smartphones and the Galaxy Z Fold series has been one of the most popular foldable smartphones in the market. While foldable smartphones have been getting traction, it still remains out of reach for most users because of the pricing.

Now, as per the latest report, the South Korean technology giant is expected to price the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldable smartphone lower than its predecessor, Galaxy Z Fold 4.

According to the report from Revegnus, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is expected to be priced at $1,699, which is $100 less than the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 when the phone was launched. As of now, this is just a rumor so we advise you to take this information with a pinch of salt.

If the leaks are to be believed, then the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 will feature a 7.6-inch QHD+ AMOLED primary display and a 6.5-inch Full HD+ AMOLED cover display, both screens offering support for a 120Hz refresh rate.

Under the hood, the smartphone will come powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, coupled with 12GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

In the camera department, the phone will have a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide sensor, and a 10MP telephoto lens in the triple-camera setup at the back. On the front side, there will be a 12MP front-facing snapper, and is also rumored to have a 4MP under-display camera.

The foldable smartphone will run the Android 13 operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own One UI custom user interface on top. The device will be powered by a 4,400mAh battery and come with support for 45W fast charging and 15W wireless charging.

Samsung has confirmed that the company will host its next Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, South Korea. While the date has not been announced yet, it is expected to take place towards the end of July, most likely on 27th July. However, prior to this conference, new leaks have revealed the promotional image posters that showcase the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and Galaxy Watch 6 series. So let’s have a look.

Arriving at the last device that was leaked, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic model were spotted in these recent promo images. We can see the base model in multiple color option, namely white, yellow, lavender, mint, and gray as well. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic appears to feature its rotating bezel. This smartwatch might also launch with special band options as well.

Based on what we know so far, the South Korean tech giant is rumored to kick off its Galaxy Unpacked event next month, around the 26th or 27th of July 2023. Samsung is the market leader when it comes to foldable smartphones, and the South Korean giant is now gearing up to launch the fifth generation of Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip smartphones.

While the launch of the upcoming foldable phones from Samsung is still months away, details about the devices keep surfacing online. In the latest development, it is claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 could come with support for dust resistance.

As per the report from Twitter user @chunvn8888, the next-generation foldable smartphones from Samsung will be IP58 rated, meaning water and dust resistance. Based on the ratings, the water resistance will be up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 30 minutes.

The current generation devices have IPX8 ratings, offering only water resistance. With the addition of dust resistance, the phone would be more durable and less likely to get damaged by dirt, sand, or other particles. This is more important because of the device being prone to damage due to dust, especially with additional mechanical parts like hinges.
