Today, Nokia took to Weibo to officially announce the Nokia X7 update equipped with the November Security patch and some other fixes in China. The same update was halted a few days ago when some users reported bricking of devices after updating to the November security patch. It seems now the bugs have been stabilized, and Nokia has again started to roll out the update to Nokia X7 aka Nokia 7.1 Plus in China.

As per the official changelog, the new update carries camera optimizations which will improve the image quality. As like of the Huawei and Pixel, Nokia is also implementing its function to make night shots more attractive. There is some change in the AI experience of the device by improving the camera scene recognition feature. There are many fixes and stable patches which will improve the overall fluency and stability of the device. It will also enhance its capability to handle the applications.

Nokia also said that the same update would be rolled out to other models shortly. Users who faced problem while installing the same update can now install it without any hitch. The HMD Global has stabilized it by fixing the bugs in the update.

Nokia X7 aka Nokia 7.1 Plus carries a 6.18 inch LCD having a resolution of 2246×1080 pixels. Its display supports intelligent AI features, with 86.5% of screen-to-body ratio and supports DCI-P3 color gamut display. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC coupled with a 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128 GB internal storage. Users can even expand its storage by means of microSD card of 128 GB. It supports 18W fast charging which takes around half an hour to fill its 3500 mAh battery. The phone retains a 3.5 mm audio jack and supports dual 4G VoLTE with Type-C USB.

It hosts Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), AI features, dual-core focus, dynamic photos, etc. On the front, Nokia has added a 20 megapixel shooter for selfeis equipped with AI beautify.

Meitu phones are not known much outside of China since it exclusively sells its devices in the home country. Xiaomi has reportedly negotiated with Meito for a new business deal. The two parties have allegedly met not to discuss merger or acquisition, but they may have entered a strategic cooperation related to using Meitu’s advanced image algorithms and patents.

Meitu’s revenue is divided into three parts such as internet business, online advertising business and smart hardware business. Although the company is known for its Xiu Xiu image editing software, Yen Camera selfie beautifying app and Meipai short video community, it generates 70 percent of its total revenue from smart hardware business which includes cameras and smartphones.

The Chinese smartphone market has been declining steadily. Industry experts are of the view that the China smartphone shipments may drop by over 10 percent in Q4 2018. In August, the revenue of Meitu’s smart hardware business was 1.48 billion yuan. It was a 23.4 percent year-over-year decline. Meitu smartphones are mainly targeted toward female users. Nokia 7.1 launched in Hong Kong and Macau for HK$2,588 ($330)

HMD Global recently launched its Nokia 7.1 smartphone in select countries in the European market. Now, expanding the phone’s availability market, the company has launched the Nokia 7.1 in Hong Kong and Macau.

The phone will be available for purchase through authorized retailers, including 1O1O, Telecom Digital Mobile, Broadway, Fortress, Weixun, Suning, among others. The Nokia 7.1 is priced at 2,588 Hong Kong Dollars, which roughly converts to $330.

The Nokia 7.1 features a 5.84-inch Full HD+ “PureDisplay” with 19:9 screen aspect ratio with a notch on top. The company claims that the PureDisplay’s internal HDR can convert the SDR content into the HDR in real-time.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s mid-range Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor, which is claimed to deliver 40 percent improved performance over its predecessor Snapdragon 630. It is coupled with Adreno 509 GPU and comes in two models — 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM.

The 3GB RAM model packs 32GB of internal storage while the 4GB RAM model comes with 64GB of onboard storage. Both the models feature a microSD card slot, enabling you to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 400GB.

For photography, the phone comes with a new Zeiss imaging solution. The Nokia 7.1 has a dual camera setup on the back, with sensors stacked vertically in the top-center position. It comes with a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor for depth sensing.

The camera comes with features like True Life HDR, Bokeh mode, Pro Camera mode, Livestream functionality, and Bothie. On the front side, it comes equipped with an AI-backed 8-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

Samsung is gearing up to launch its next batch of flagship smartphones — Samsung Galaxy S10 series. Ahead of the launch of Galaxy S10 early next year, we have started getting information related to the phone, including specs and features.

At this point in time, the confirmed design for the Galaxy S10 is not yet, but we now know what to expect from Samsung going forward.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is expected to come in three variants, carrying model numbers SM-G970F, SM-G973F & SM-G975F. Two of them will feature a 5.8-inch display while the third one will be the successor of the Galaxy S9 Plus.

The Galaxy S10 will have three cameras on the rear just like the Galaxy A7 (2018) however, the sensors will be different. The S10 will have a standard + wide + telephoto setup, the same arrangement that Huawei adopted for the P20 Pro.

The Galaxy S10 Lite, on the other hand, is expected to come with flat display and side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The S10 lineup will adopt the newly introduced Samsung One UI based on Android 9 Pie operating system.

While the launch date is not yet confirmed, reports indicate that Samsung could launch the Galaxy S10 series in February during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, with sales starting from early March.

OnePlus’ first gradient colour variant, the OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple now on open sale

OnePlus released a Thunder Purple gradient variant of the OnePlus 6T during the flagship phone’s China launch. The new variant comes as a surprise addition to the Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants that were announced in New York earlier on. It also happens to be the first gradient hue that the company would be releasing. The BBK holding company has now announced via a tweet that the OP6T Thunder Purple is now on open sales in China. The tweet contains a link that redirects users to the product page on OnePlus’ website.

The OnePlus 6T Thunder Purple comes with a frosted glass back with deeper colours on the upper part around the camera while the lower part comes in purple. The darker colour and purple combination is a reflection of a dark sky briefly illuminated by lightning which gives it a purple appearance. The front also has black bezels just like the other variants. Aside from the frosted glass Thunder Purple gradient back, the device shares the same specs as the Midnight Black and Mirror Black variants. It is available only in 8GB RAM and 128GB storage coming with a price tag of $579.

OnePlus 6 was never released in any gradient colour despite the growing popularity of that styling since the Huawei P20 Pro was released with such design. The OP6 only had a Flame Red and Silk White colour variant, aside from the Midnight and Magic Black. The company has perhaps realised that a shift to gradient hues on flagship models among its competitors is fast gathering momentum. We’re sure more of such would follow, if not on the OP6T but on its successor.

It has been rumoured from sometime that the PlayStation support was coming in September, but nevermind if it is coming late by a couple months.
