While the design is one of the biggest highlights of the device, the company wants us to know that they have put a lot of efforts in its camera department as well. This is why even before the Mix 3 launch event was officially over, DXOMark outed the official score for its camera and it’s really impressive. The independent benchmark platform gave it a high score of 103, making it the best Xiaomi smartphone camera in the market today.

Xiaomi’s recent efforts in improving its camera quality has paid off. First, it was the Mi Mix 2S that came close to the iPhone X and the Mate 10 Pro when it came to camera performance. In fact, the phone’s 12+12MP rear cameras got a score of 108 in photo surpassing even the Note 9.

With a magnetic sliding full-screen design, powerful cameras, top of the line hardware and a competitive price tag (<$500), the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is really turning out to be a must buy in the affordable flagship segment.

Oct 25, 2018

Xiaomi had launched the Mi A2 Android phone smartphone in India in August. During the launch, the company had announced that the smartphone would be available in two variants such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The company has been only selling the 4 GB RAM edition of the phone in the country. The Chinese manufacturer has now listed the 6 GB RAM edition of the Mi A2 in India on its official website and Mi Store app.

Even though the Xiaomi Mi A2 is now listed on its official online store, the sales of Android One phone have not started yet. The handset is priced at Rs. 19,999 and it will be available in four color like Black, Blue, Gold and Red.

The launch offers that are available for the 4 GB RAM edition of the Mi A2 are also available for its 6 GB RAM variant. Hence, buyers of the new variant of the phone can take advantage of offers like Rs. 2,200 instant cash back from Reliance Jio, Rs. 3,500 worth Ixigo coupons and 3-month free subscription from Hungama Music.

Since the Diwali festive season is around the corner in India, Xiaomi may launch it with a discounted price tag. The other reason why the Mi A2 6 GB + 128 GB edition may arrive with a reduced price tag is that its regular pricing of Rs. 19,999 (~$273) does not seem enticing enough when the base model of the Poco F1 flagship phone which also features 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage costs Rs. 20,999 (~$287).

The Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD screen that supports 18:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution. The Snapdragon 660 chipset powers the smartphone. It features 12-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera setup on its rear and a frontal shooter of 20-megapixel. The handset is backed by a 3,000mAh battery.

Xiaomi expected to break 100 million shipments in 2018, two months ahead of schedule

Oct 25, 2018

Xiaomi is breaking records with a huge number of sales and new device launches. The Chinese electronics maker had set a target to ship 100 million smartphones in the year 2018. Maintaining a high growth rate, Xiaomi has crossed 100 million shipments target, two months ahead of its schedule. Last year, Xiaomi touched 90 Million sales, but growth was sluggish in comparison to this year.

It is for the second time that Xiaomi has proposed the 100 million shipments after the year 2015. Xiaomi’s focus on mid-budget and high-end devices has allowed the company to gain these many sales. The significant aspect behind the high number of sales is its pricing which is always considerably less than the other devices in the market.

If we go with the Q2 financial report, then it is clear that Xiaomi has performed consistently throughout the year. In the Q2, 2018, Xiaomi witnessed the sale of 32 million units with 43.9% year-on-year increase. It is the highest growth rate that any company around the globe has gained recently.

Xiaomi is not only doing well in its home market, but it is also performing considerably better in the overseas market, such as India. In India, Xiaomi registered 27% of total smartphone market share in the third quarter of 2018. It has become India’s largest smartphone seller.

There are a number of reasons behind Xiaomi’s growth in the past few years. Xiaomi has started researching and developing new technologies, they have improved its MIUI OS, and most importantly their less than 5% profit margin in the purchase of raw equipment has catered to its fast growth.

Today, Xiaomi is launching Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 smartphone which is another technologically advanced smartphone. It is the first commercial smartphone to carry 5G network support, and it is also one of the first Android smartphones to host 10 GB of RAM. Xiaomi is set to announce it at an event in Forbidden City Beijing at 14:00 Beijing time. You can watch its live stream over here.

Qualcomm’s wired and wireless charging speeds will soon get a boost

By

Oct 25, 2018

Fast charging technology has come a long way and is almost a compulsory add-on for flagship and premium mid-range models. Perhaps, the most widely used in Qualcomm‘s Quick Charge technology with the latest being the QC4+ which can deliver a charge of 50% in just 15 minutes. Interestingly, Huawei’s own SuperCharge 2.0 is touted to deliver 70% of power in 30 minutes, while Oppo’s Super VOOC can charge a battery completely in just 35 minutes. Meaning that Qualcomm’s Quick Charge isn’t the fastest charging technology around but that will soon change as the company has revealed that its Quick Charge technology will be improved significantly next year.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 — Qualcomm chip with logo

Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4+ utilises a feature dubbed Dual Charge that enables power to flow through two paths rather than one. This, in turn, increases the power output of the charger to 18W and also improves heat dissipation. Qualcomm says its next-gen QC version billed to be released next year will come with Triple Charge which will add a third flow of current. This will boost the output to a considerable 32W of power and will also improve heat dissipation.

Further, Qualcomm also indicated that it will boost the speed of its wireless charging. Next year will herald the entry of a new technology which is called True Fast Wireless Charging and makes use of Dual Charge. This will boost the charging current of compatible chargers from 12W to 15W. We don’t know what the new charging standard will be caledd, perhaps Quick Charge 5.0. However, the standard will likely be compatible with the next-generation Snapdragon 855 (or 8150) chip, throwing up the possibility that it will be on next year’s flagships like the HTC U13+, LG G8 ThinQ, and many more could support it.

Xiaomi is set to officially announce the much-touted Mi Mix 3 which has been a favourite in the rumour mill. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 deviates a whole lot from all its predecessors in terms of the design it adopts and even on the hardware aspect. Ahead of its unveiling, a short hands-on video of the Mi Mix 3 has appeared on Chinese microblogging website Weibo.

The hands-on video shows the Mi Mix 3 design in all its glory. Perhaps, most worthy of note is the rear fingerprint sensor which is on the model in the video. The Chinese phone maker had earlier teased the presence of an in-display fingerprint sensor on the device. Thus, it is possible that the Mi Mix 3 will come with both in-display and rear fingerprint sensors. In another light, there could be a model with in-display fingerprint and another with the rear sensor. Guess we won’t wait for too long to find out.

The hands-on video also shows the Mi MIX 3 is expected to arrive with a 6.39-inch S-AMOLED display that will carry support for 2340 x 1080 pixels Full HD+ resolution. The slide of the phone is fitted with LED-enabled 24-megapixel+20-megapixel dual selfie snappers. The backside of the Mi MIX 3 could be equipped with a 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup. Recall that the Mi Mix 3 will also be 5G-enabled and will get a variant that boasts of 10GB of RAM onboard.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES	Dual SIM slot, LED logo and strips	IP67 certification, RGB illuminated logo	Pressure sensitive zones, water resistance

Design

As said above, Xiaomi Black Shark Helo, Asus ROG Phone and Razer Phone 2 all feature a gaming-centric design, so they are not exactly for you if you like elegant phones. The one with the soberest and refined design is Razer Phone 2, which I would pick as I like black and elegant devices. And I also like it because it is water-resistant with the IP67 certification.

Display

Razer Phone 2 would be my choice even when it comes to the display quality. It has the screen with the highest resolution, it has a high brightness and it even has the highest refresh rate which is the most important thing for games. That is why I prefer this display, but note that Asus ROG Phone is able to provide more satisfying colors due to its wide color gamut and the HDR technology.

Specs & Software

While Razer Phone 2 looks more attractive for its display, Asus ROG Phone and Xiaomi Black Shark Helo have a superior hardware. While the first is the only device which has an overclocked Snapdragon 845 chipset, the second is the world’s first smartphone which comes with 10 GB of RAM (in its most expensive version only). Given that we still had no chance to try the new Xiaomi flagship, we still can not tell you which has better performance.

Camera

At least on the paper, the most interesting camera department belongs to Xiaomi Black Shark Helo. It boasts two sensors on the back, both with a bright f/1.8 aperture. Further, the dual camera is able to perform 2x optical zoom. However, I have to try it personally to make a definitive conclusion.

Battery

As they all have the same capacity, there will not be so much difference between the battery life of these devices. So, we suggest you not to choose your gaming phone by basing on the battery life; all of them can last long on a single charge.

Price

Asus ROG Phone is my favorite handset of the trio and it is the winner of this comparison as it boasts amazing performance, a pretty nice display and it supports important gaming accessories thanks to its secondary USB-C port. But Xiaomi Black Shark Helo has the best value for money because the company just launched it in China for just $505, while Asus ROG Phone and Razer Phone 2 cost $969/€850 and $1026/€900, respectively.
