If you follow Gizmochina, you may know that the company has released quite a few affordable yet feature-packed watches. The Microwear L3 is the latest model that costs just about $57 but it offers quite a few features.

In addition to this, the watch has a 1.2″ color display which is said to have a good outdoor visibility.
Just like many smartwatches, the Microwear L3 has a lot of sports modes that include walking, running, mountaineering, riding, badminton, table tennis or basketball.
Furthermore, the Microwear L3 has other features like the ability to answer the calls, receive text messages or notifications, music player, and even a heart rate monitor.
Before launching the Nokia 7 Plus, HMD Global unveiled the original Nokia 7 back in late 2017, a mid-ranger which has been launched as a China-exclusive phone. The handset has just started updating to Android 8.1 Oreo, the latest stable version of Google’s operating system available. With Android P right around the corner, the device has received a big update weighing 698 MB which brings the firmware number of version to 224B.B01. The update is arriving via OTA alongside a complete changelog of all the improvements implemented into it, and it requires at least 1402 MB of free space in order to be installed correctly.
Besides the main improvements brought by Android 8.1 Oreo on every handset, Nokia 7 has just gained the support to dual VoLTE. This means that the phone now supports VoLTE technology on both its SIM card slots. Now, the phone can also show the battery status of devices connected via Bluetooth. Face Unlock has been added as well: the front camera will allow you to unlock your phone through 2D facial recognition. With this update, HMD Global has also added a Do Not Disturb mode for gaming and a Camera Pro mode which should allow experts to improve the quality of their photos through manual commands.
Now, the system theme can automatically adapt to the wallpaper color in order to provide a more beautiful and homogeneous user interface. The power management has been enhanced, so the battery should be able to last more. And the camera user interface has been enhanced as well, alongside the compatibility of 3.5 mm audio jack. At last, the new update heading on the Nokia 7 contains the latest security patch released by Google for the month of May.
If you live in China, you own a Nokia 7 but you still haven’t received the update, you can head to Settings and choose the software update tab to force its arrival.
In March, OPPO had launched the OPPO F7 smartphone with a notched display. The Chinese manufacturer is known for launching “Youth” edition as lighter version for its F-series smartphones. Now that the company has already unveiled the F7 smartphone, it is speculated to be working on OPPO F7 Youth. Myanmar is one country that is yet to receive the OPPO F7 smartphone. A promotional video that has surfaced on OPPO’s Myanmar Facebook account shows that the country will be soon receiving OPPO F7 and OPPO F7 Youth smartphones.
Through the promo video, it can be known that the OPPO F7 Youth features a display that supports an aspect ratio of 19:9. It appears that the major selling point of the F7 Youth would be its 25-megapixel selfie camera that is equipped with Ai Beauty 2.0.
Unlike the red-colored OPPO F7, the Black colored F7 Youth does not feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The back panel of the F7 Youth is fitted with a single camera that is accompanied by its LED flash.
As far as the appearance of the F7 Youth is concerned, it looks quite similar to the OPPO A3 that features a rear panel with diamond-cut design that is devoid of fingerprint scanner. This suggests that the F7 Youth will be only equipped with facial recognition feature for unlocking it.
There is no information available on the other specifications of the OPPO F7 Youth. However, since it is expected to arrive as a lighter edition of the OPPO F7, it is likely to feature 4 GB of RAM or 3 GB of RAM. It may arrive in 32 GB and 64 GB storage models.
The OPPO F7 Youth will be preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo and the last Color OS skin. It may include the same 3,400mAh battery that powers the regular OPPO F7. The cost of the F7 Youth is under the wraps, but the pricing pattern of the predecessor models suggests that it could be priced around $260.
Xiaomi‘s expansion seems to be unstoppable. The Chinese company is registering record-breaking sales all around the world and it is slowly becoming a real menace to the veteran Samsung and Apple. After reaching the 4th place in the ranking of best smartphones brand in the world, Xiaomi has just become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in Indonesia.
The Senior Vice President Wang Xiang has just published a report by Canalys which highlight the second position of its company in the ranking with 18.3 percent of share in Q1 2018 (from January to March). In the last period, Samsung is the only company which has shipped more smartphones than the Chinese hi-tech giant in Indonesia, with a share of 25.5 percent. Samsung has shipped a total of 2.3 million units, while Xiaomi had 1.7 million units shipped.
The company has registered a 1455% year over year growth and as compared to the same period last year, Xiaomi had shipped only 107,000 smartphones in Indonesia. This is definitely one of the most incredible growths ever registered in the smartphones market. At the 3rd place of the ranking, there is OPPO with 1.5 million units shipped (same as Q1 2017) and a share of 16.8%, while at the 4th spot we can find Vivo with a share of 6.5% and 600,000 units shipped.
After confirming that OnePlus 6 will be available on launch day in several (temporary) pop-up stores all around the world, the former Chinese startup owned by BBK Electronics has partnered with a Dutch retailer called Belsimpel to help fans purchase its new flagship and accessories on launch day in the Netherlands. The Dutch retailer Belsimpel has just published a video teasing the launch of OnePlus 6 in its store: you can see it below and you can get more info in the original announcement article which you can find in the video description.
In case you don’t know, OnePlus 6 will be made official on May 16 at 18:00 CEST. Well, according to Belsimpel, it will also be the day in which the handset will be up for pre-orders. The pre-orders will begin just an hour after the official announcement, so at 19:00 CEST. Through this agreement, OnePlus officially enters the Dutch market. By purchasing the new flagship on Belsimpel, you will also get the official warranty. If you live in the Netherlands, you will be allowed to pay the original price or choose installment options. In case you missed it, OnePlus 6 has just been spotted on Amazon Germany which has revealed its design as well as its price.
According to Amazon Germany, OnePlus has not stopped increasing the price of its flagships. OnePlus 6 will cost even more than the 5T, with a price tag of €519 for the version with 64 GB of internal storage and €569 for the 128 GB variant. Despite the disappointment showed by a lot of fans, the device will rock a notched design in order to minimize the bezels’ thickness. The phone will sport a glass back and a vertical dual camera placed centrally, with a fingerprint reader under it.
Ahead of the May 17 launch of the OnePlus 6 in London, the flagship model has repeatedly featured on several leaks including its price tag which popped up on Amazon Germany recently. Apart from leaks, OnePlus had also shared a couple of teasers which project the features the OP6 would come clutching. Now, OnePlus CEO Lui Zuohu (Pete Lau) has shared a couple of OnePlus 6 camera samples which he specifically indicated were shot using the upcoming flagship’s camera.
The camera samples could be regarded as the first official samples from OnePlus. That is because even though the CEO had shared a few pictures suspected to be OnePlus 6 camera samples, it wasn’t expressly specified to be the OnePlus 6’s samples. But in this case, the CEO was specific about that.
The camera samples are evidence of the ability of the OP6 to capture amazing shots with vivid clarity. The pictures shots during the day and even the shots captured at night show a great attention to details, impressive clarity and a near absence of photographic noise. There have been rumours that the device will feature a powerful camera consisting of a 20MP + 16MP camera combination just like what was found on the OnePlus 5T from last year. However, the camera is expected to feature some enhanced features compared to OnePlus 5T. A recent teaser suggested the presence of AI features on the OnePlus 6 camera. We don’t have details of how that would pan out but it may likely bring features such as scene detection, face recognition and others to the camera.
Xiaomi launched the MiTu Quadcopter drone a couple of weeks back as a cheap and durable RC toy for kids and adults who might fancy the device. The Xiaomi MiTu Drone went on sale towards the end of April in China and the response has been pretty impressive. Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun is now trying to rack up more support for the product by recommending it to fans on Weibo.
Lei Jun over a 3-day stretch recommended the product severally on his Weibo page. The several teaser posts by the CEO projects the several features of the MiTU drone including ease of operation, portability, HD camera as well as several demo photos of the device. On one instance, the CEO highly recommended the quadcopter drone to fans.
The Xiaomi MiTU drone has a compact size and uses a unique one-piece frame structure design with a plastic body. The plastic has a low density and high toughness making it more resistant to falls. The propeller blades are made of glass fibre. The quadcopter also comes with four wheelbases, each 11cm long. The entire drone weighs just 88g which is ideal for better flights. The body is made of modified PP plastic with low density and high toughness making it more resistant to falling. The propeller blades are made of glass fibre.
Despite being designated a toy, the drone comes with a front-mounted camera which can shoot 720p videos and can capture still image aerial photography at 1600 x 1200p resolution. The MiTU RC Quadcopter also comes equipped with a quad-core 1.2GHz SoC and 4GB of storage. There are several sensors onboard, including ultrasonics, barometers, and optical flow sensors. The drone also comes with precision hovers which enables the drone to fly steadily and smoothly in the indoor environment.
In addition, it also has a headless mode, gravity sensing, palm take off, four-way rolling and other advanced modes along with a large bandwidth, low delay, anti-interference ability 5.8GHz high-frequency signal Wi-Fi. Surprisingly, the MiTu drone can hit a maximum height of 25 metres while the remote control can be used up to a distance of 50 metres. Keeping the drone fired up is a built-in 920mAh battery that can maintain 10 minutes of playtime. All this comes in at just 399 Yuan ($63). It is likely that Xiaomi would launch the drone for the global market someday but at the moment, online retailers GearBest, Geekbuying and Banggood ships the MiTu drone for $79 which is a pretty fair price.
Off all the phones released last year by HMD Global, only the Nokia 2 has not been updated to Android Oreo. It will still get updated but to Android 8.1 instead. The Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 already began getting the Android 8.1 Oreo update a few months ago but only in select regions.
If you own the Nokia 6 (China version) and you are still on Android 8.0 Oreo, you may want to check for an update as HMD Global has begun rolling out Android 8.1 to the device.
The update which is 980MB in size also brings along May’s security patch, Bluetooth device battery percentage indicator, a new theme setting that adapts to your wallpaper, and an improved power management system and camera experience.
Smartisan has a new smartphone launching tomorrow. New reports have revealed that the smartphone called the Smartisan R1 will come with the same camera sensor as the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s.
Sample photos of the Smartisan R1 were posted online along with the EXIF data and some users guessed the phone uses a Sony IMX363 processor. Smartisan’s product manager later confirmed that the phone indeed features the Sony IMX363 sensor with a f/1.8 aperture.
There is also a picture taken with the front camera which is said to be a 16MP sensor. The exact sensor type wasn’t revealed.
On Wednesday, HMD Global will be launching a new Nokia phone with notched display. Rumors surrounding the smartphone have claimed that the handset would be launching as Nokia X. However, other reports have claimed that it could be called Nokia X6. Today, the smartphone has been found listed on Suning.com with “Nokia X6” moniker along with its pricing and some of its key specifications.
According to the below image, the Nokia X6 that has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage is priced at 1,499 Yuan (~$237). The Nokia X6 is the first Nokia branded phone that features a 19:9 aspect ratio supporting notched display. The retailer will begin the reservations on May 15 starting at 15:30 PM (local time) in China. The official sales of the Nokia X6 is slated to begin on May 21. The listing reveals that the handset will be available in Black color. There is no information on the other color variants of the Nokia X6 in this new leak.
With such a pricing, it seems that the Nokia X6 will sit between the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 Plus in China. The 32 GB and 64 GB variants of the Snapdragon 630 powered Nokia 6 (2018) are respectively priced at 1,299 Yuan (~$205) and 1,399 Yuan (~$220). The Nokia 7 that is also driven by Snapdragon 630 has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of RAM. It is available with 1,699 Yuan (~$268) pricing whereas the advanced Nokia 7 Plus that is packed with Snapdragon 660 chipset, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage costs 2,299 Yuan (~$362) in China.
The Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 are both driven by the same chipset whereas the Nokia X6 is speculated to be fueled by the Snapdragon 636 mobile platform. Hence, the it appears that the Finnish firm may discontinue the Nokia 7 since it was launched in October 2017 or make it available with lower pricing than the Nokia X6. There is a possibility that the Nokia X6 may replace the Nokia 7 phone.
According to the TENAA listing of the Nokia X6, it features a 5.8-inch display that supports FHD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. TENAA listing has also revealed that the Nokia X6 may arrive in other RAM variants like 3 GB and 4 GB. It may also come in another internal storage version of 32 GB. It features 16-megapixel dual rear cameras and a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel. The X6 is packed with a 3,000mAh battery.

Meizu released a new trio of smartphones to celebrate its 15th anniversary: a mid-ranger, an upper-midrange, and a flagship. With the Meizu 15 line-up, the Chinese company is embracing the most important price ranges in the market and it is offering premium phones at very competitive prices. Another premium device which is very convenient to buy is definitely the Honor 10. It looks like Huawei decided to release a P20 trio composed of two flagships and a mid-ranger, while the upper-midrange segment (well, it is more a flagship than a simple upper-midrange) has been left to its sub-brand Honor.
Given that Meizu 15 and Honor 10 are two important smartphones of 2018 in the same price range, we decided to compare Meizu 15 vs Honor 10 to help potential buyers with their choice.
Meizu 15 vs Huawei Honor 10

In a few words, we think Meizu 15 will be a more premium device when it comes to multimedia, while its opponent has a more attractive design (at least according to my taste) and better performance. Meizu 15 has a more interesting display thanks to the Super AMOLED technology which is able to provide richer colors and deep blacks. Further, it has stereo speakers which offer a more powerful audio experience. The camera should also be better on the Meizu 15: as you can see from our first camera samples, the photo quality is impressive, even in low light conditions.
On the other side, Honor 10 has a more powerful SoC, so it will surely have better performance. It also has a bigger battery but given the low consumption of Meizu 15’s AMOLED display and the efficient Snapdragon 660, it is yet to see if Honor 10 will provide a longer battery life.
Meizu 15 is priced at about $395/€323 in China for its base variant, while Honor 10 starts from $414/€338. So, which one should you buy? Well, it depends on your needs. If you care about performance, camera, and want to impress yourself and your friends with the aesthetics of your device, then choose the Honor 10. Simply put, the Honor 10 looks more impressive among the two.
But if you want excellent camera performance and the best multimedia experience, go for the Meizu 15 because of its display and stereo speakers. Note that Meizu is still using a 16:9 display without a notch. It could be a big differentiator for some potential customers.
The Redmi S2 was announced last week and the new smartphone is being touted as a selfie king. For those who live in India and are wondering when it will arrive, it may be launching sooner than expected.
Xiaomi’s Global VP and MD of Xiaomi India – Manu Kumar Jain, has revealed in a tweet that the Redmi S2 is coming to India. Although he doesn’t explicitly mention the Redmi S2, he refers to it as the “BEST selfie phone”. Seeing as Xiaomi is marketing its new phone using the same words, it’s just a matter of putting 2 and 2 together.
He also mentions Xiaomi is the top smartphone brand (in India) for the 3rd quarter running according to IDC and reveals the company has moved to a new office.
Every step in your life is defined by a selfie. Find yourself, #FindYourSelfie
The Xiaomi Redmi S2 is a 5.99” phone with an HD+ resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of storage. It also has a dedicated SIM slot.
It appears we have more smartwatches coming soon. LG already has one in the pipeline and Google is said to be working on three Pixel watches. Another smartwatch launching this year is the Huawei Watch 2 (2018) and its specs and images have just leaked online.
The leak which was posted by @evleaks shows the big difference between the 2018 model and last year’s Huawei Watch 2 is the addition of eSIM support. The rest of the specs are pretty much the same.
The Huawei Watch 2 (2018) will run Wear OS, have a 1.2” AMOLED display with a 390 x 390 resolution, and be powered by a Snapdragon 2100. RAM remains 4GB and built-in storage has also been left at 768MB.
The watch also keeps the 420mAh battery from last year, has Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, a bunch of sensors including a heart rate sensor, and an IP68 rating. Huawei has also redesigned the straps. The eSIM is the major addition. It was exclusive to the Watch 2 Pro last year but will now be available on the base model this year.
Xiaomi has launched a new wristwatch for the kids dubbed Mi Bunny Children phone Watch 2C. The Xiaomi Mi Bunny Children Phone Watch 2C is an upgraded version of the Mimi Children watch and it continues with the stylish and lovely design style of the first-gen model in addition to having an enhanced watch band texture.
The Mi Bunny Childen Phone Watch 2C comes with a low-gloss PMOLED screen. The screen has a circular design while the frame and strap comes in Sky blue and Orange colours. It is lightweight at just 37.8g and comfortable as a result of the food-grade silicone straps it uses. The product is developed by Xiaomi’s eco-chain company Xiao Xun Technology.
The watch also doubles as a phone as it packs a nano-SIM slot. It storage is quite limited but up to 10 phone numbers can be storage in its contact. The watch comes with two buttons while the upper button is to place a call, the lower button hangs up the call. When the child is in distress or danger he can send a distress signal by long-pressing the button. The child’s location and 7 seconds of ambient recording is immediately sent to the parent’s mobile phone. Of course, that means it comes with a built-in GPS. The watch phone also comes with the feature of setting up a white list of calls while other calls are blocked. In this way, there won’t be the fear of the child receiving a call from a stranger.
Other features of the Mi Bunny Children Phone Watch 2C includes Wi-Fi, gravity sensors, EPO. There is also a multi-faceted safety fence, and once the child leaves the area, parents immediately receive a message. The watch uses an AES 256-bit encryption, data transmission encryption, Xiaomi cloud data encryption and a variety of encryption measures to prevent data leakage, to protect the watch’s data security.
As for the price, the Xiaomi Mi Bunny Children Phone Watch 2C is priced at only 199 yuan ($31). The watch will go on sale from May 15 via Xiaomi’s Mi mall, Tmall, Jingdong, and Suning simultaneously.
Lenovo, the China-based technology company which holds a strong presence in the laptop segment, has recently been awarded a new design patent for a hybrid laptop with tri-fold display and a few variations of the same. This was revealed through a bunch of documents published by the World Intellectual Property Organization last month.
The patent, which was initially filed in the year 2016, features a laptop having a flexible display with multiple viewing regions. The display consists of an OLED panel which can be folded both ways — inwards as well as outwards. This allows users to triple the amount of screen real estate compared to what traditional laptops offer.
With the flexible nature of the folding mechanism, it allows the device to be folded in a way that the screens are facing both sides. The company believes that such a mode would be useful for presentations as well as for local multiplayer games.
While the filed patent doesn’t explicitly mention that the display panels of the theoretical design are touch-sensitive, such functionality is implied especially given how some possible setups don’t hide the keyboard of the hybrid device behind one of its screens.
The suggested laptop’s both sides are meant to be equipped with a camera and at least one microphone. The published documents suggest that the engineering principles applied to the newly patented design can allow both for dual- and triple-screen laptops.
The patent filing also mentions that smartphones are another possible use case of a similar tri-fold design, along with tablets and laptops. The company has been working on a device featuring a foldable display since last few years. In fact, Lenovo demonstrated its foldable design tablet at the company’s annual event Lenovo Tech World last year.
Apart from Lenovo, several other smartphone manufacturers are working on a device featuring foldable display, including China-based Huawei and Oppo. South Korean giant Samsung is also working on a foldable display smartphone. Devices with a foldable display from Samsung and Huawei are expected to get launched this year. However, the company has not yet made anything official.
In line with this tri-fold laptop patent from Lenovo, Razer, which is known for making gaming devices and peripherals, has already made a prototype of a triple-display laptop, which the company showcased at last year’s CES. However, the design makes trade-offs in terms of user convenience and thus, it was never commercialized.
Razer, the popular gaming peripherals and smartphone manufacturer, has announced that it has an event on May 22. The event will hold in Beijing, China.
The poster doesn’t reveal much about what product will be launched but there are rumors it is the Razer Phone. Don’t be surprised. The Razer Phone may have been released since November 2017 but it didn’t make it to mainland China, although a special Chinese New Year version was sold in Hong Kong.
It appears the recent popularity of gaming smartphones in China has spurred Razer to want to penetrate the market. Though, it remains to be seen if it will succeed.
The Razer Phone will have to go against phones like the Black Shark Gaming Phone and the Nubia Red Devil. ASUS may also join the fight with its rumored ROG (Republic of Gamers) gaming smartphone.
While it definitely isn’t as powerful as the Black Shark which has the newer Snapdragon 845 SoC powering it and also sells for less at ¥3499 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB version, the Razer Phone has a few strengths of its own.
The 7-year ban imposed by the Commerce Department of the U.S. on ZTE prevents it to export components and software form the U.S. If the Chinese firm serves the ban, not only numerous employees will end up losing jobs but also its smartphone division will cease to exist. A recent report had claimed that ZTE has approached to the U.S. Commerce Department to withdraw the ban., However, it did not seem that the U.S. would cancel the ban soon until yesterday when none other than the U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that he and China’s president Xi Jinping are working on cancelling ZTE’s ban.
According to Trump, the Commerce Department has been instructed to assist ZTE to get back into business as many employees have lost jobs in China.
President Xi of China, and I, are working together to give massive Chinese phone company, ZTE, a way to get back into business, fast. Too many jobs in China lost. Commerce Department has been instructed to get it done!
The reason why the U.S. placed an export ban on ZTE was it had violated U.S. sanctions by selling goods and services to Iran and North Korea. The Chinese firm was fined $1.19 billion in March, and it was asked to dismiss four senior employees and dismiss 35 other staff that were involved in the misconduct. However, when it was found that the company did not discipline that the 35 other staff, a 7-year ban was placed on it.
Now the U.S. President has spoken in favor of ZTE, it seems that the Chinese firm will be soon able to continue its business as usual. It is speculated that Trump’s statement could be a well-planned strategy to negotiate a new trade deal with China.
The intelligence agencies of the U.S. are of the view that Chinese companies like ZTE and Huawei are cyber security threat to the U.S. The U.S. intelligence officials have even said that the Chinese government could be spying on the U.S. remotely through Huawei and ZTE phones.
Our intelligence agencies have warned that ZTE technology and phones pose a major cyber security threat. You should care more about our national security than Chinese jobs. https://t.co/7Ygh7805jg
This could be ther reason why U.S. House of Representatives member Adam Schiff who is also a ranking member of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee has criticized Trump’s statement by saying that he concerned more about Chinese jobs instead of national security.

Recently, there were reports suggesting that the China-based smartphone manufacturer will launch a new variant of the Oppo R15 in Blue and Red color. Now, the report has been confirmed and it is believed that the upcoming variant is likely to be called Oppo R15 Barcelona Custom Edition.
Oppo has teased this product launch on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. In the post, the company mentioned the blue and red colors and also suggested that the conference will be presented in a special form. Further, the company said that the device will be launched tomorrow.
Oppo and Barcelona have been partnering up for a special edition smartphone since 2015. The first Barcelona Edition smartphone from Oppo was the R7 Plus in 2015, followed by Oppo R9 in 2016 and Oppo R11 FC Barcelona Edition last year.

Both the smartphones — Oppo R15 and Oppo R15 Dream Mirror Edition went on sale for the first time on April 1 and the official information from the BKK-owned OPPO indicates that the R15 has created a new sales record for the company in China. Opening day sales figures on the Jingdong, Tmall, and Suning showed a record sales exceeding that of the Oppo R11.
