Samsung Galaxy A50 leak reveals triple cameras and in-display fingerprint scanner

Samsung has plenty of Galaxy A-series phones right from Galaxy A10 to Galaxy A90 coming up this year. The Galaxy A10 is expected to be packed with the weakest specs while the A90 is believed to arrive with topnotch specs. Freshly leaked photos of the frame of the upcoming Galaxy A50 have been leaked by an Indian publication.

The first image shows that there is a longer vertical cutout on the Galaxy A50’s frame. This indicates that the Galaxy A50 will be equipped with triple rear cameras. The below image shows that the Galaxy A50 will be equipped with a waterdrop-style notched display. It means that the smartphone will be sporting Infinity-V that was first seen on the Galaxy M10 and M20 smartphones.

The bottom side of the frame has cutouts for a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB-C port. It does not feature cutout for speaker grille. The phone’s frame lacks a cutout for the fingerprint scanner. This indicates that the phone may feature an optical in-display fingerprint reader.

The release date of the Galaxy A50 could be approaching fast since it has been already approved by Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi Alliance bodies. The Geekbench listing of the smartphone has revealed that it is fueled by the Exynos 9610 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The handset may hit the market in 64 GB and 128 GB storage versions. There is a possibility that both the models may come equipped with 4 GB of RAM.

At the front, the Samsung Galaxy A50 may sport a 24-megapixel selfie camera. The main sensor among the three rear-mounted lenses could be also of 24-megapixel. ZTE Blade V10 full specifications, images leaked through TENAA listing

Last year, ZTE had announced the Blade V9 and Blade V9 Vita smartphones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Hence, there is a possibility that the Blade V10 will go official at MWC 2019 in the coming month. A new smartphone with model number ZTE V1000 that is believed to be the Blade V10 smartphone has appeared with entire specifications and images on TENAA.

The ZTE V1000 smartphone images that have appeared on TENAA suggests it is equipped with a glass rear. The frontside of the phone seems to feature a waterdrop-style notched screen. Its rear side is fitted with a vertical dual camera setup at the top-left corner. A fingerprint scanner and ZTE logo are placed on the top-half of the rear shell of the device.

ZTE Blade V10 Specifications

The Blade V10 measures 158 x 75.8 x 7.5mm and weighs 154 grams. It is fitted with a 6.3-inch IPS LCD display that produces full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The handset draws power from a 3,100mAh battery.

Last month, Asus launched its latest mid-range smartphone — Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 in India, which is the successor of the company’s popular and successful Zenfone Max Pro M1. When launched in India last month, the device was made available in Blue color.

Now, the company has launched the ‘Titanium Edition’ of Zenfone Max Pro M2 in India which will be exclusively available for purchase through Flipkart, just like the other models. It will be available in three configurations — 3GG RAM, 4GB RAM, and 6GB RAM.

Alleged OPPO R19/F11 live shots reveal pop-up selfie camera and notch-less screen

Couple of leaked shot of an upcoming OPPO smartphone have surfaced online. The smartphone is equipped with a pop-up selfie camera and a notch-less display. There is no confirmation yet on whether it belongs to the forthcoming OPPO F11 or OPPO R19 smartphone.

The OPPO F9 and OPPO R17 phones from last year were equipped with waterdrop notch enabled displays. As it can be seen in the below images, the mysterious OPPO smartphone features a notch-less screen. Hence, the smartphone is expected to deliver a marvelous viewing experience thanks to its high screen-to-body ratio.

The mysterious phone features a vertically arranged triple camera setup with a fingerprint scanner placed below it. The rear shell of the phone seems to be made out of glass.

The OPPO F-series phones have always featured horizontally aligned dual camera setup on the rear. Even the OPPO R-series until the R15 lineup from last year were launched with horizontal dual camera setup but the R17 and R17 Pro were fitted with vertical dual cameras. Also, both the R17 phones were equipped with in-display fingerprint scanner, while the F9 came with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Hence, it is difficult to determine whether the newly spotted handset is OPPO F11 or OPPO R19.

Another interesting feature on the mysterious OPPO is the presence of a pop-up selfie camera. A recent leak had revealed that the OPPO R19 would be featuring a center-positioned selfie camera and its rear cameras would be also placed on the center area on the top half of the back panel. Also, the case images of the OPPO R19 that had surfaced in the previous month not only had cutouts for these cameras, but also it featured a cutout for a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Hence, there is a possibility that the above photos may belong to the OPPO R19 handset. As of this writing, there are no leaks that have revealed the presence of pop-up selfie camera on the OPPO F11.

NWSD Technologies has launched its wearable device — OJOY A1 4G VoLTE Kids Smartphone — in the Indian market. The smartwatch is claimed by the company to be India’s first 4G VoLTE smartwatch phone for the kids.

Prior to launching this smartwatch in India, the company has already launched this device in Singapore, Malaysia, and the USA. By the end of March this year, the company is planning to expand it to the Philippines, Australia, and the Middle East.

Oppo K1 could launch in India in the first week of February for under Rs. 20,000 ($282)

A couple of days ago, we reported that Oppo is gearing up to launch a new smartphone with in-display fingerprint sensor in the Indian market. While the company didn’t reveal the name of the device in the tease, it looked like the Oppo K1.

Now, according to a new report from 91Mobiles, the Chinese company is planning to launch the smartphone in the first week of February and will be sold exclusively through Flipkart. As for the pricing, the report adds that the device will be priced under Rs. 20,000, which roughly converts to $282.

The Oppo K1 was first launched in China in September last year. When launched in India, this will be the first device in the K-series from Oppo to make its way to the Indian market. So far, the company has concentrated on the R-Series, F-Series and A-Series phones in India.

Coming to the specifications, the Oppo K1 features a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 91 percent screen-to-body ratio. The display is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass on top.

Under the hood, Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor is powering the device, along with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. Both models come with 64GB of internal storage and also comes with a microSD card slot that enables you to further expand the phone’s storage capacity.

As for the camera department, there’s a dual-camera setup on the back, where the camera sensors are stacked horizontally in the top-left corner alongside an LED flash. It features a 16-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor with AI-based features for enhancing the camera performance.

Coming to the front-facing camera, the handset comes equipped with a 25-megapixel shooter for taking selfies and video calling. The company has tried to include all the trendy features in the phone and thus, along with the smaller waterdrop notch, there’s also an inclusion of an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with the company’s own ColorOS 5.2 on top. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi i 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and GLONASS. It is powered by a 3,500mAh battery that supports Super VOOC fast charging technology.

Apple’s next-generation iPhone models are still a long time away. OnePlus trolls Apple as it celebrates latest ranking as India’s premium smartphone brand

It is not uncommon to see phone manufacturers troll their main rivals as they all struggle to grab a chunk of the market share. In recent times, Apple has been the main recipient of such trolling from fierce rivals Huawei and Samsung at different times. Who would have expected OnePlus would join the gang so soon. But then, guess they’ll all go to any length to break the brand loyalty Apple enjoys globally.

Counterpoint recently released its smartphone market data for the Indian market and OnePlus was ranked as the No. 1 (fastest growing) premium smartphone brand in India. Overwhelmed with the feat, OnePlus took to Twitter and Apple was the recipient of the trolling. The company’s tweet announcing the achievement didn’t directly call out Apple but it made reference to Apple’s voice assistant Siri. The tweet also employed Apple’s style of capitalization in writing the words “iDare you”

There is no doubt OnePlus’ tweet is a publicity stunt but an impressive one that didn’t require throwing any shade. OnePlus have enjoyed a great deal of success as a result of its innovative features and affordable pricing, which will appeal to the buyers in India. Whereas Apple’s latest iPhone comes with way expensive pricing but similar features with Android flagships. Apple recently threw its own trolling at CES 2019 with a billboard with the teaser; ‘What happens on your iPhone stays on your iPhone’. Apparently, this is an indirect criticism of security vulnerability on Android OS.

Meizu Zero now available on Indiegogo crowdfunding for $1299

Apparently, Meizu didn’t design the flagship Meizu Zero to end up as just a concept phone. The Chinese company has plans to commercialise the smartphone and that has just commenced. The Meizu Zero crowdfunding campaign has now been launched on Indiegogo with the order expected to start shipping in April.

We didn’t expect the Meizu Zero to come cheap but nothing prepared us for the $1299 price tag which is slammed on the device. But then, the sleek mobile phone looks to be worth that much with the innovative features crammed inside. The crowdfunding is looking for just 100 backers for the version which has the 1299 price tag. This model is dubbed “Exclusive Engineer Unit” and is said to be handmade by Meizu’s engineers. That puts a question mark on the ability of the company to mass-produce the model. There is another version tagged “Exclusive Pioneering Unit” and with a $2999 price tag but that version is sold out. Don’t be surprised about that, there was just a single unit available.

Already 13 persons have backed the model as at the time of reporting. That means there are just 87 units left and the crowdfunding campaign will be open for the next 31 days. It is left to be seen what will happen next after the crowdfunding campaign. Perhaps, more units will be made available but the level of response during the crowdfunding exercise will determine that.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 teardown shows how its magnetic slider works

The Mi MIX 3 has received generally positive reviews. It is one of the best camera phones of 2018 according to DxOMark but what really sets it apart from other phones is its slider design which uses magnets instead of springs or an electric motor.

YouTuber JerryRigEverything has made a teardown video of the Mi MIX 3 and it also shows how the slider works. There are a bunch of magnets in the device and Xiaomi employed the basic rule of magnets – opposite poles attract and like poles repel. It is a simple but very effective solution that ensures the phone stays opened or closed.

The teardown video also revealed the bundled cable with the phone is specially designed to allow you to slide the phone open while charging. A third party cable won’t let you do so.

Design

As mentioned above, Huawei Y6 Pro (2019) has a unique design. Alongside the Huawei Enjoy Max, it is the only last-generation phone from one of the world’s best brands to come with a leather body. It is incredibly elegant and original, and it comes in two color variants. It also has thin bezels and a small dewdrop notch on the display that maximizes the screen-to-body ratio. Right after that, I would pick the Xiaomi Mi Play because of its elegant glass back and its gradient colors, that is not usual to find on a so affordable device. Honor Play 8A has a classic polycarbonate design that is very common on entry-level phones, and it does not have gradient colors, so it would be the last choice.

Display

Xiaomi Mi Play overclasses both its opponents because it comes with a display boasting a higher level of detail. It is the only Full HD+ panel of the trio and it shows sharper and more realistic images. At the same time, it comes with a slightly smaller size which makes it more compact and easier to use with one hand. The displays of Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 and Honor Play 8A are almost the same thing, they are just minimally different in size but the resolution is the same and so is the viewing quality.

Specs & Software

Unfortunately, we still do not know which chipset is on board of the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 as the company decided not to reveal it yet. But it should not be needed in order to establish which device will boast the higher performance. Indeed, Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 comes with max 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, while Xiaomi Mi Play has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of integrated storage. We still do not know the SoC of the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019, but in case it is not the Helio P35 found on the Xiaomi Mi Play, we doubt it will be a better chipset than this one. Honor Play 8A loses the comparison too because it comes with the Helio P35 and max 3 GB RAM. All the phones come with a customized Android version based on Pie.

Camera

While Xiaomi Mi Play comes with a better hardware side, both Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 and Xiaomi Mi Play should have better camera performances. Both their rear and their front sensors come with a brighter focal aperture, and this means better shots in low light conditions. We have no idea about which device between Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 and Honor Play 8A will click better shots as we did not test the former and all will depend on software optimization.

Battery

All the batteries of these devices come with more or less the same capacity, so hardware components and optimization will make the difference. Given that Xiaomi Mi Play has a Full HD+ display, we believe that it will have worse battery life than both Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 and Honor Play 8A. The 8A has a slightly bigger battery and a slightly smaller screen, that is more efficient components. But if Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 has a more efficient SoC than the Helio P35, this may not matter and it may win in all the battery life tests.

Price

Honor Play 8A and Xiaomi Mi Play come with price tags of €100 and €170, respectively, in the Asian market. The price of the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 is not known yet (we believe it will cost more than Honor Play 8A because of its costlier design and because it is a Huawei device). With the actual (incomplete about the Y6 Pro) information available and given the marginal differences between all these handsets, I would personally go for the Huawei Y6 Pro 2019 because of its more original leather design. But once I will know the chipset model and the price, my opinion might change.

Samsung announces 1TB eUFS 2.1 storage ahead of Galaxy S10 launch

While Toshiba has begun testing UFS 3.0 chips, it appears Samsung still plans to use UFS 2.1 for a little more while before making the switch. The Korean-electronics giant announced its largest capacity UFS storage today which has a 1TB capacity.

The announcement comes a few weeks before the launch of the Galaxy S10 series which has been reported to have a variant with 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

The 1TB eUFS 2.1 chip is a single-chip design and boasts an improvement in read and write speeds compared to the 512GB eUFS 2.1. The chip size is the same, measuring 11.5 x 13 mm and has 16 5th-gen 512Gb V-NAND flash memory layers.

The 1TB storage has a sequential read speed of 1000MB/s, a sequential write speed of 260 MB/s, a random read speed of 58,000 IOPS and a random write speed of 50,000 IOPS. These are significant gains in speeds when compared to Samsung’s other versions.
