There are a number of dual screen phones in the market all with varying designs. There is the ZTE‘s Axon M, there is Samsung‘s W series, the YotaPhone series, and there is the MeizuPro 7 and Pro 7 Plus. Nubia might be joining this list based on these photos that just leaked.
Photos of a phone with a display on each side have been seen on Weibo. They were uploaded on Weibo by Chinese leaker “@Kumamoto Technology” and he said they are of a Nubia phone.

On one side of the phone is a large display with thin bezels all around which is definitely the main screen. On the back is a smaller display with an 18:9 aspect ratio too but with thick bezels on all sides. The bezel above the second display is home to dual rear cameras a LED flash and some sensors.
The Motorola One and Motorola One Power got a low profile launch at IFA a few weeks ago but it appears that is because Motorola is planning a big launch for individual markets. If you reside in India, you should know that the Motorola One Power is coming very soon.
Just a short while ago, the official Motorola India Twitter account tweeted that the Motorola One Power will be unveiled in India on September 24. The tweet even adds that it is a product co-developed with Google.
The Motorola One Power has a 6.2-inch Full HD+ Max Vision display. It has a notch at the top which is home to a 12MP front-facing camera. It is powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
We have been hearing about the Nokia 9 flagship since late 2017, after the launch of Nokia 8. But HMD Global still haven’t showcased it, and it looks like it will not happen anytime soon. It was initially rumored to be launched at the beginning of 2018, but instead of this device, HMD Global decided to unveil the Nokia 8 Sirocco with Snapdragon 835 from 2017. Sirocco should have been released at the end of 2017, but it was delayed. Now, according to new reports, the announcement for the last quarter of this year has been canceled as well, so the handset will be launched in February 2019 rather than in Fall 2018.
According to the most reliable hypotheses, Nokia 9 will be showcased at MWC 2019 just like its predecessor. Sadly, there is no official confirmation about the launch date, so these remain only speculations. At this point, we just hope that it will not come with the Snapdragon 845 chipset as in February there will already be some 2019 flagships with the most recent Snapdragon 855 SoC which will be announced by Qualcomm soon. Nokia 8 Sirocco did not have a huge success, and we believe that most of the fault has to be attributed to Snapdragon 835 chipset which powered 2017 flagships. According to recently leaked schematics and real photos, this flagship will be the first phone in the world to sport a Penta camera setup with five sensors on the back side.
With five cameras on the rear side, Nokia 9 may integrate each type of camera sensor ever seen on a phone: monochromatic sensor, wide-angle lens, telephoto lens and so on. And obviously, the sensors will be co-engineered with Carl Zeiss. The photo shows the Penta camera setup together with the LED flash in a revolver-like configuration with a sensor in the middle.
Do you think Nokia will once again become the company launching the best camera-phone like the good old times?
Samsung is preparing to announce a couple of mid-range phones soon. Among them is the Galaxy J6 Prime (or J6+) and photos of a dummy model along with specs have shown up online.
The Galaxy J6 Prime isn’t a flagship but it will be one Samsung phone to remember thanks to its design, or to be more specific – the position of its fingerprint scanner. Samsung devices have their fingerprint scanners on the front or rear of the phone but the Galaxy J6 Prime will be the first to have the scanner on the side just like some of Sony’s own phones or Meizu’s M6s.
[envira-gallery id=”212183″]
The photos show the scanner is on the right side of the phone where you will normally find the power button or volume rocker of a lot of phones. The power button is still on the right but is now closer to the top. The volume controls sit on the left.
Samsung Mobile India has confirmed that there is indeed a Galaxy J series phone with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner but the tweet doesn’t specify the model. It also confirms the phone will come with an Infinity Display. If you head to the link in the tweet, you will see the upcoming J series phones listed there are the Galaxy J6+/J6 Prime and Galaxy J4+. The website also teases some other features of the devices such as dual rear cameras, AR photos, and “vibrant bold colors”.
The rest of the dummy photos show the Galaxy J6 will have its dual cameras in the middle and vertically arranged. It will also have a 3.5mm audio jack and a MicroUSB port at the bottom.
With respect to its specs, the Galaxy J6 Prime will have a 6-inch HD+ display. The folks at SamMobile said it may be an LCD and not AMOLED panel. Powering the device is a 1.6GHz quad-core processor paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of storage.
Just about two months back, the media was buzzing with news that Chinese smartphone giant Huawei had beat Apple to claim the number two spot in terms of market share in China. That, no doubt, was a feat worth celebrating from the standpoint of Huawei. But right now, it is time to separate the wheat from the shaft. Counterpoint has now released its latest research finding on the Global handset profit share for Q2 2018.
The report covers handset profit for the various brands for the month of April to June. Global handset profit is shown to have grown 4% annually in Q2 2018and this is mainly due to Chinese brands, which were aggressive with their flagship offerings. The combined profits from the various Chinese brands crossed US$ 2 billion for the first time, contributing to almost a fifth of the total handset profits.
Apple emerged as the most profitable brand in Q2 2018 with 62% market share. This is more than the cumulative profitability of all the other brands combined, including Samsung. Apple is closely followed by Samsung with a 17% profit share of the market. This is despite Samsung’s position as the number one smartphone vendors in terms of the number of units sold. Samsung’s profit share actually declined by 21% when compared to the same period last year. This is attributed to a weaker than expected sales of the Galaxy S9 series. The rest of the pack is occupied by Chinese brands. Huawei is at the number three spot with 8% market shares, OPPO at number four with a 5% market share. Fellow BBK brand Vivo occupies the fifth spot with a 4% market share. Finally, Xiaomi is in the sixth spot with a 3% share of the market.
Counterpoint estimated that the remaining 1% of the total industry profit was distributed among more than 600+ handset brands. Some of these brands may close shop as the research firm predicted that the smartphone volumes are likely to be flat as consumers are now keeping smartphones for longer. This will have implications for OEMs’ revenue as OEMs are looking to maximize their profits by increasing their average selling price and entering new price tiers.
OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei has recently confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 6T won’t be featuring a 3.5mm audio jack. This seems to be reason why the company will be announcing Type C Bullets earphones alongside the OnePlus 6T smartphone. Fresh images of OnePlus 6T transparent TPU case also hint that the handset will not be featuring 3.5mm audio jack.
The OnePlus 6 that was unveiled earlier this year features a 3.5mm audio jack on its bottom edge. In the previous week, GizmoChina had shared exclusive images of OnePlus 6T case which had revealed that it won’t be featuring a traditional headphone jack. The fresh photos of the transparent TPU case also show that the bottom side of the phone lacks an audio jack. The bottom edge of the OnePlus 6T seems to feature dual speakers with a USB-C slot in between.
The backside does not feature a cutout for fingerprint reader. The reason behind it is that the OnePlus 6T will be the first OnePlus to arrive with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The cutout for the camera suggests that it will be sporting a vertical dual camera setup like the predecessor phone. Below the camera cutout is a pill-shaped gap for the LED flash.
The right edge of the OnePlus 6T transparent TPU cases has cutouts for Alert Slider and power key. The volume buttons are on the left side of the phone.
Recent leaks have suggested that the OnePlus 6T will be equipped with a waterdrop notch screen like the OPPO R17. No information on the specs of the phone have surfaced so far. The major changes arriving on the phone could be inclusion of the smaller notch screen and in-screen fingerprint scanner along with removal of the 3.5mm audio jack. There is a possibility that the OnePlus 6T may carry similar specs as the OP6 phone. Hence, the OP6T is expected to arrive with AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 845, 8 GB of RAM and inbuilt storage of 256 GB. Rumors have it that the OnePlus 6T may go official on Oct. 16.
The Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max are the latest phones from Huawei’s sub-brand to sport a notch albeit with different sizes. However, a new TENAA listing has revealed that the manufacturer has yet another phone with a notch launching soon.
The phone was seen on TENAA with model number BKK-TL00 and was certified earlier this month. Sadly, no images were provided.
The Honor BKK-TL00 has a 6.26-inch display which is even smaller than that of the Honor 8X (6.5-inches). It also has a lower resolution – 720 x 1520. This is the same resolution of the Nokia X5 so we can tell it has a notch.
The phone is powered by a 1.8GHz processor octa-core processor we are guessing is the Snapdragon 450 mobile platform. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage but thanks to a MicroSD card slot, you can add up to an additional 256GB of storage.
TENAA says there is a 13MP + 2MP dual camera combo on the back of the phone while an 8MP camera sits within the notch. It also has a fingerprint scanner and packs a 3,900mAh battery.

Huami has got a towering reputation for releasing smartwatches and fitness tracking bands that are not only affordably priced but are durable and efficient in performing the functions they serve to perform. The Chinese company that shot to limelight with the manufacture of Xiaomi Mi Band series, today held its 2018 product launch conference and the main highlight was the Amazfit Verge smartwatch. That wasn’t the only product the company released as the Amazfit Health Band 1S also made its grand entrance during the launch.
The Amazfit Health Band 1S is a successor to the Amazfit Health Band which was launched in April last year. The new model comes with exactly the same design as its predecessor but the features are upgraded with the addition of a couple of new ones. Despite the improved features, the Amazfit Health Band 1S packs the same 699 yuan ($101) price tag.
The wearable gadget uses a black wristband with a pure black screen to maintain a well-integrated design. The display is a 0.42-inch OLED screen. The design of the wristband includes an anti-lost buckle. The straps is made from skin-friendly, thermoplastic elastomer material.
One of the major features of the first-gen Amazfit Health Band is the built-in ECG sensor which can track data and display it on its own display or on a connected smartphone. Huami disclosed that after the launch of the first-generation health band, the company’s cloud platform collected more than 5 million ECG data, and the symptoms of atrial fibrillation confirmed by doctors exceeded 14,000. On the basis of retaining the classic ECG chip, the Amazfit Band 1S joins Huami’s new generation of high-precision optical sensors, and the accuracy is increased to 98%. At the same time, Huami also upgraded the Band to include the new AI neural network which ensures the band delivers continuous active monitoring rather than a passive one.
Other features on the Huami Health Band 1S includes a PPG photoelectric sensor that monitors the heart rate and sleep pattern. The health band detects variation in heart rate and notifies the wearer promptly. It also features a low energy-Bluetooth 4.0 through which it is paired with a smartphone via an app and the fitness data can then be accessed on the phone. Furthermore, it features an IP67 dust and waterproof certification and is kept on by a 95mAH battery. The battery can be charged from zero to 100% in just 2.5 hours and can last up to 7 days on a full charge. The fitness band is ultra-light, weighing just 10g
The Huami smart band is available from today (September 17) on the three major e-commerce platforms of Jingdong, Tmall and Fighting.
Today, at a launch event, along with Amazfit Verge Smartwatch and Amazfit Health Band 1S, Xiaomi-backed Huami also launched Huangshan No. 1 — the world’s first artificial intelligence powered wearable chipset.
The Huangshan No. 1 (MHS001) is the world’s first wearable processor that comes integrated with AI neural network. It features four core artificial intelligence engines — cardiac biometrics engine, ECG, ECG Pro, and Hearth Rhythm Abnormality Monitoring Engine.
It is also claimed to the world’s first RISC-V open source instruction set wearable processor. The company says that the chipset has three characteristics — it’s AI drive, provides lightning performance, and has minimal power consumption.
Huami adds that it also has Always-On functionality and the chipset AI is better than the traditional artificial intelligence. The company also claims that the Huangshan No. 1 is 38 percent more efficient than the Arm Cortex-M4 architecture processor.
It supports real-time movement tracking, real-time biometric identification, real-time warning, among a huge array of functions. The company says that with this AI-powered wearable chipset, the deep learning technology has landed on a smart wearable device for the first time.
While Huami has announced the Huangshan No. 1 Smart Wearable chipset, the wearable devices powered by this chipset will be launched in the first half of 2019.

Last month, Realme launched its second phone – the Realme 2. The phone got a lot of criticism for being a downgrade from the Realme 1 instead of a more powerful successor. The manufacturer decided to surprise us by teasing a “Pro” version of the phone which will launch later this month. With less than two weeks before the announcement, the Realme 2 Pro has surfaced in an official video ad showing off its design.
The video advert actually is sort of a motivational message tied to the Realme brand but the Realme 2 Pro surfaces more than a few times in the video. First, the phone will be coming with a notch like the Realme 2 but the new water-drop style notch like that of the OPPO A7X.
[envira-gallery id=”212128″]
The Realme 2 Pro will also have dual rear cameras with a bump. There is an LED flash flanking the cameras on the right while a fingerprint scanner sits in the middle. There is also the “realme” branding at the bottom of the phone.
The back of the phone seems to be covered in glass and there is a metal frame around it. We can also make out a 3.5mm audio jack, USB port, and speaker grille at the bottom of the phone. From the video we can tell the phone will come in silver, blue, and black.
It is almost certain that Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 6 Pro soon even though the exact date is yet to be confirmed. We just don’t know how soon but Gizmochina’s online shop Giztop seems to give us a clue that the device will launch pretty soon. That is because the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has gone up for pre-order on the online retail outfit for just $199. The guys at Giztop obviously know so much about the device than we do. That perhaps explains why the pre-order price tag is pegged at $199.
The Giztop listing also confirms some of the key specifications of the Redmi Note 6 Pro as well as the design. The device is confirmed to feature a mammoth 6.26-inch FHD+ display which is a perfect fit for watching videos online. This is in the same category as the Mi Max 3’s display. However, the Redmi Note 6 Pro offers way more firepower, packing a Snapdragon 660 premium chipset. The device will equally be available in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM versions while the storage options include 32GB, 64GB and 128GB respectively.
Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Note 6 Pro has a notch screen
On the camera end, Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro also excels, sporting a dual camera setup at the rear and another dual camera at the front. The rear setup is a 12MP+5MP combo while the selfie shooters is a 20MP+2MP combo. The phone also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and on the software end, it runs MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Keeping the lights on is a 4000mAh battery which comes with Quick Charge support. On the design aspect, the rear design looks like the Redmi Note 5 Pro but the front differentiates both models. The Redmi Note 6 Pro has a notch design which thus means its bezels are thinner and the screen ratio is bigger upon a larger display screen. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is just 5.99 inches.

Apple took the wraps off its latest range of iPhones comprising the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR just last week. The iPhone XR is a trimmed down version of the XS and XS Max and thus has an “affordable” pricing when compared to the two XS models. This article is focused on the iPhone XS whose photography prowess has been demonstrated in a video released by Apple.
Apple iPhones are not popular for their batteries but their photographic capabilities. The YouTube video gives a first look at the stunning video shot on the new iPhone XS. The video is also said to be the highest quality video of any smartphone and we haven’t seen any better. In one of the experiment, water, fire, metal and light were used to create mesmerizing scenes using 4K, Slo-mo, and Time-lapse. Apple used a mixture of soapy water and corn syrup, as well as glass and ink to create some psychedelic images. In addition, Apple also used metal and some chemicals to demonstrate the time-lapse performance of the phone. You can check out the video from below.
As a reminder, the iPhone XS is equipped with a 12-megapixel primary lens with f/1.8 aperture and a 12-megapixel secondary telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture for lossless 2X zoom. The Apple A12 bionic processor which powers the model also stands tall as the most powerful mobile processor available presently. The camera is capable of shooting 4K@60fps.
In the past couple of weeks, a new Redmi phone has been in the news. That phone is the Redmi Note 6 Pro and it will take over from the Redmi Note 5 Pro as the king of the Redmi series.
According to an insider, the Redmi Note 6 Pro has begun shipping to major sellers and stock should be ready by tomorrow. This sort of explains how those images showing the phone’s specs came to be. We want to believe they originated from a seller who already received supply.
Seeing as the Xiaomi has an event on Wednesday, September 19. We believe they will most likely announce the Redmi Note 6 Pro alongside the Mi 8 Youth and Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint edition rather than having a separate launch for it.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro will come with a 6.26-inch screen with a 19:9 aspect ratio which means it has a notch. A leaked spec sheet has revealed the display has a Full HD+ resolution. It will come in two variants (for now) – 3GB RAM + 32GB and 4GB RAM + 64GB. Both variants will be powered by the Snapdragon 636 processor. This may be a letdown for some folks but it makes sense. If the Redmi Note 6 Pro were to come with the same chipset inside the Mi A2/Mi 6X, it will affect sales of the latter seeing as the Redmi Note 6 Pro already trumps it with a bigger battery and a 3.5mm audio jack.

During the weekend, new photos of the Huawei Mate 20 cases had surfaced to reveal its features. It is speculated that the Mate 20 will be equipped waterdrop notch LCD screen that will carry support for Full HD+ resolution. Recent reports have revealed that Huawei Mate 20 Pro that is expected to get unveiled alongside the Mate 20 will be equipped with a wider notch. Popular tipster IceUniverse has shared fresh photos of the tempered protector of the Mate 20 Pro to reveal its front appearance.
The images of the Mate 20 cases have revealed that it will be equipped with a square-shaped camera module that will be housing the LED equipped triple camera setup. The Mate 20 cases have also revealed that its back panel will be featuring a fingerprint reader.
As far as the Mate 20 Pro is concerned, the images of its screen protector have revealed that it will be equipped with a wider notch that may house 3D structured light module to support 3D facial scanner. The presence of a wider notch suggests that the handset will carry support for an aspect ratio of 18.7:9.
The tempered film seems to be curved towards the left and right sides which indicates that the Mate 20 Pro will be coming with a curved screen. Rear renders and leaked photos of the Mate 20 Pro that have surfaced in the recent past have suggested that it won’t be featuring a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Rumors have it that the Mate 20 Pro will be featuring an AMOLED display with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. Keeping in line with its reputation for manufacturing mobile devices capable of sweeping tech buffs off their feet, Asus launched the high-end Zenfone 5Z (ZS620KL) smartphone earlier this year. As expected, the Taiwanese tech giant’s latest phone didn’t disappoint.
Regrettably, the Zenfone 5Z (ZS620KL) smartphone’s steep price tag stops cost-conscious ASUS fans from buying the feature-laden mobile phone.
In a bid to make the well-received smartphone available to those who are on a tight budget, ASUS is currently offering a noteworthy discount on the phone’s original asking price.
While the Zenfone 5Z (ZS620KL) smartphone would normally set you back a pretty penny on online stores, you can now buy it at a dropped price of just $519 on Giztop, the official online store of GizmoChina. Aside from availing the aforesaid discount, you can use coupon code ZF5Z40 to save more money.
By applying the above-mentioned coupon, you can get an additional $40 off. Moreover, this helps you bring your already lowered grand total further down to just $479 at the time of checking out. The Zenfone 5Z(ZS620KL) is quite an irresistible smartphone at this discounted price, given that it sports a big 6.2 inch LCD IPS FHD+ display with a screen resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels at a pixel density of 402PPI (pixels per inch). It features Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top for added protection.
The phone packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Octa Core (4×2.8 GHz Kryo 385) processor and Qualcomm Adreno 630 GPU, under the hood. The above-mentioned discount is valid for the 6GBRAM+64GB ROM version. The onboard storage capacity can be expanded up to 2TB.
On the photography front, the Zenfone 5Z(ZS620KL) smartphone houses a 12.0MP+8.0MP dual camera setup. Up front, there’s an 8.0MP camera for selfies and face-to-face video chatting. There’s a fingerprint sensor placed on the back as well.
It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo OS and is backed by a robust 3300mAh battery. Furthermore, the phone is crammed with a slew of useful sensors including Gravity-Sensor, proximity sensor, light sensor, gyroscope, E-compass, accelerator, RGB sensor, and NFC.
