New Motorola Phone with 8GB ROM Seen at FCC: Might Be A New Moto E

The Moto E is the low-end line from Motorola with very budget specs and intended for emerging markets. 2016 saw us getting two models of the phone: the Moto E3 and Moto E3 Power. Both devices were released in September and less than 6 months later, it seems we might be getting a new model.

A tweet by leakster Roland Quandt (@rquandt) mentions details of a Motorola phone seen on the FCC’s website. The phone’s model number is listed as Moto XT1750 and is codenamed “Watson”. It has 8GB of internal memory, dual SIM support, and a 2350mAh battery.

Moto E 4th Gen 2

The internal memory hints at it being a Moto E since that’s like the signature storage of the series (save for the E3 Power). The battery capacity is what’s confusing though. Last year’s model has a 2800mAh battery but comes with a 5-inch 720p screen. Both features are upgrades from the 2015 model which has a 4.5-inch (540 x 960) display and a 2390mAh battery. There is no mention of the screen size of this new device, but it will be unwise to bundle it with a smaller battery if they are retaining the 5-inch display.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Configuration Details Leak: 2K Display, Mi Note 2 Camera

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is not launching anytime soon. Xiaomi is not even attending MWC 2017. So if you have been unaware of that detail and been looking forward to the Mi 6 making an appearance, we are sorry to burst your bubble.

However the configuration details for Xiaomi’s next flagship were leaked on Weibo by a user called @Reviewer_Well. His post says the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be available in two variants: a 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant which will have a 1080p display and a 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant with a WQHD display.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Specs

He goes on to mention the camera details. The front facing camera is the Sony IMX268 8MP autofocus sensor which is the same one in the Xiaomi Mi Note 2. Sadly we won’t be getting the Mi Note 2’s 22.5MP rear sensor, instead the Mi 6 will have a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor.

Real Images of LG G6 Leaked: Shows Always on Display and Thin Bezels

Just a week before the LG G6 launches, real images of the device have surfaced online. These are not the first set of images showing the LG G6 but these are the first that shows the Always-on display.

This is a silver variant of the LG G6. Starting from the rear, we can see the dual cameras and the fingerprint scanner now have a new design. They flush with the rest of the body and are not raised like in the G5. The back plate is also reflective as the fluorescent tubes in the room are visible on it.

LG G6 real image

Up front is where the action is. LG is not aiming for symmetry with the G6 and its evident in how the top and bottom bezels are of varying sizes. The side bezels are pretty thin though and the way the screen curves at the corners look nice. The top bezel houses the front camera, sensors and earpiece while the lower bezel is were LG’s branding sits. The Always-on display shows the time, date, and battery level, so by simply whipping out your phone from your pocket you should know how much battery you have left.

LeEco / LeTV IMEI Repair – Qualcomm Models

leeco-le-max2-desc2

LeEco is the new player in the game but the company is satisfying its customers in many ways since it came to market. First of all, build quality of course, then price, these two are good enough to sell. Another important point is, that they don’t have any locked bootloader that requires a special way to unlock like in the Xiaomi models lately, a fastboot command is more than enough to unlock it and start to develop. The last attractive point, that many users are not aware of is how easy to repair the IMEI on Qualcomm models, because LeEco has chosen not to protect it like many other phone makers did. This comes very handy if you somehow lost your imei number and want to fix it.

*#*#76937#*#* , this code will open the necessary “Diag port” that we will work with.

le3_diag_port_logo

Select “Enable AT Port” from this service menu, plug your USB cable and your PC will find a new device. Install this “Qualcomm Diag” drivers please. After successful install your diag port will look like this under device manager: “Qualcomm HS-USB Android DIAG”.

LeEco_diag_port

Now, before we begin, backup is very important, please refer to this guide how to backup your LeEco’s necessary data and keep it in a safe place, that QCN backup is all you need to restore your modem and IMEI back if anything goes wrong during a ROM flash.

Qualcomm Snapdragon imei Repair, download this tool and run it ( no setup needed ). As you may guess rest is very easy. Just put your factory IMEI numbers in both boxes “IMEI_1” and “IMEI_2“, click start, reboot your phone manually and witness the magic.

Video Guide:

You can use this method on non-IMEI protected phones like Xiaomi Redmi 3 and Redmi Note 3 series without root, but for high end models you need root and another method that you can read in the “backup guide” that I gave.

How about MediaTek series of LeEco, how will you restore your imei if you lost it somehow? Here is the video guide:

ZTE Nubia New Smartphone Launching on February 26

ZTE‘s subsidiary Nubia has teased that it would be launching a new smartphone on February 26 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. The teaser was shared on Nubia’s Weibo official page and has as its caption “To Meet New Possibilities”

nubia-launch

The launch will take place before the MWC which runs from February 27 to March 2 in Barcelona. The teaser, however, did not state the smartphone that would be unveiled on that day but it is possible it is the Nubia smartphone that appeared on leaked renders weeks back, looking very much like a modified Nubia Z2.

The smartphone (pictured above) adopts the same design as the Nubia Z2, save for the fact that it doesn’t have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. That props up the possibility that the smartphone would feature a front fingerprint sensor which would make it Nubia’s first smartphone with such feature. Also, the camera and flash sit on the same plane with the antenna band line on the top. MWC is just at the corner, so we’ll wait to see what Nubia has in store for us.

Probable Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X Top-End Version Spotted, Features A Better Processor

Xiaomi recently released the Redmi Note 4X this month with the highly efficient Snapdragon 625 chipset, making the device a fan-favorite. Added to that, the device came in five cool colors including a Hatsune Miku special edition which came in green color. The Redmi Note 4X was only made available in 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. Well, it seems that isn’t the only memory version the device will come in.

Xiaomi did include on its website, the existence of a 4GB + 64GB version which hasn’t been made available till date. However, the high-end version of the Redmi Note 4X has appeared on TENAA. The images accompanying the TENAA listing leaves no room for doubt as to whether this is indeed the Redmi Note 4X even though it was only identified by the model name MBE6A5.

According to the TENAA listing, the Redmi Note 4X (MBE6A5) sports the same 5.5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1980 x 1080 pixels like the current versions on sale. The device is listed with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and on the processor end, it packs a deca-core 2.0GHz processor. Now the memory and processor might be an error.  It could actually be an octa-core 2.0GHz SoC which points to a Snapdragon 653 processor. The RAM size should, in reality, be a 4GB RAM.

Other listed specs include a 4000mAh battery, a dimension of 151 x 76 x 8.35mm with a weight of 170g and a host of network bands which includes 4G LTE. If this turns out to indeed be a higher version of the Redmi Note 4x, then it would come with a higher price tag. Also, the wide range of network bands it comes with could indicate it would be sold outside China. We’ll be on the look out for more information on this.

OPPO sold 3 million OPPO R9S Units In January 2017

OPPO continues to soar higher and higher, achieving monstrous sales figures catapulted by the huge success of the R9 series. The company achieved record-breaking success with the R9 and it is likely the R9S will continue this feat as it has been revealed that the company has sold over 3 million units of the R9S.

oppo r9s

The OPPO R9S was released late last year and the company then added a sleek variant with a red paint job in December.  The R9S came with a design which looks like the R9 but with a more refined design and some top notch specs. The company retained the VOOC fast charge technology that helped market the R9. These perhaps might have helped it achieve a sales figure of 3 million in January alone, as reported by research firm CINNOResearch.

For a smartphone that is barely four months old, 3 million units in sales in just one month is a record figure and is perhaps an indication that the smartphone will go on to have a great run in the market. At 2799 Yuan ($416), the OPPO R9S isn’t a very cheap smartphone but its great design and rich specs lineup make it a hot selling piece. As a reminder, the R9S comes with a 16MP Sony IMX398 sensor at the rear, which is said to be jointly developed by OPPO and Sony. The sensor is reportedly fast and comparable to SLR camera speeds and there is also dual-core focus as well as dual LED flash onboard. The R9S comes with a Snapdragon 625 chipset backed by a 4GB RAM and there is 64GB of storage.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X coming to Taiwan?

Xiaomi has released a poster that teases a launch event which is scheduled to take place in Taiwan on February 21. This is perhaps a realization of the tech giant’s bid to take its products outside China in order to help rejig its finances and position in the market.

Xiaomi has been experiencing some decline in sales and revenue figures of late, losing out on the top three spots in smartphone shipments in the last few quarters. The company has indicated it would ship more units outside China and even open more physical stores, shifting from the usual online sales model.

Although the poster didn’t specify which smartphone(s) the company would unveil on that day, it is believed that Xiaomi will be bringing the international version of the Redmi Note 4X in Taiwan, as well as the Mi Note 2. Two marvelous smartphones which would no doubt be fast sell outs but we are not entirely sure about that. The Redmi Note 4X was unveiled in china a few days ago with a premium design and well-packed specs lineup for a budget smartphone. Hopefully, we’ll get to see the International version of this great smartphone on February 21 in Taiwan. Watch out!

Xiaomi Phone with 5-inch Display Appears on TENAA, Redmi 5?

A new Xiaomi smartphone with a 5-inch display has been certified by China’s telecoms regulatory body TENAA. The phone was spotted on TENAA yesterday accompanied by a set of cool renders of the device.

xiaomi phone

The Xiaomi smartphone is identified with the model number MAE136 and strangely packs just a few specs, unlike the usual TENAA listings. Xiaomi is becoming synonymous with large capacity batteries and the new device is listed as having a large 4000mAh battery under its hood. It also has a dimension of 139.24 x 69.94 x 8.65 mm.

xiaomi-phone-tenaa-2

Speculations are rife that this could be the Redmi 5, but it only bears a very slight resemblance to the Redmi 4. The device lacks a physical home button under the display and at the rear, there is a fingerprint sensor at the middle while the rear camera is tilted to the top left corner of the phone. The edges of the phone are more rounded than that of the Redmi 4 and there is a unique antenna band design at the back. There is a SIM tray slot at the side of the phone, indicating that it would be a dual SIM phone.

The ASUS ZenFone 3 Go features a metallic chassis that is flanked with a 2.5D glass on the front. It is also accompanied with an LED flash for better shooting selfies in low-light conditions. The device lacks a fingerprint scanner.

It is pegged to run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS that will be customized with Zen UI 3.0. Since it is a selfie-centric phone, it comes with beautification mode for adding videos on Facebook and YouTube.

Like the ZenFone Go 5.0 LTE, the ZenFone 3 Go is expected to come with dual microphones and five-magnet speakers with smart amp for impressive audio experience. The ZenFone Go is rumored to include a 2,600 mAh battery. Speculations also indicate that it may feature a USB Type-C port.

Honor V9 May Be Launched Internationally as Honor 8 Pro

It is not unusual for Chinese manufacturers to launch a phone with one name in their home country and another name for the international variant. An example is OPPO’s R9 whose international variant is called the OPPO F1 Plus. News as it that Huawei plans to do the same with the soon-to-be released Honor V9.

The Honor V9 is a dual-camera phone scheduled to launch on February 21. It will be available in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants and will have a 5.7-inch 2K display.Honor V9/Honor 8 Pro

Rumor: iPhone 8 to Feature Virtual Buttons Like Android

The iPhone 8 is the name given to the special edition iPhone we are getting this year to mark the 10 year anniversary of the phone. There have been rumors going round that the phone will be the first to sport an OLED display. However, things just got more exciting bout the display.

According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 8’s 5.8-inch display which is said to take up most of the front of the device will have the lower part reserved for a “function area”. This function area is presumed to house unknown virtual keys.

iPhone 8 Function Area

Android devices usually have on-screen navigation buttons or capacitive keys. Some even have both and might even have a physical home button too. Apple is said to be ditching the home button this year which also doubles as the Touch ID scanner.

The rumor is that the function area will be similar to the touch bar in the new MacBook Pro with one of the virtual buttons serving as a home button and the others possibly changing according to the app in use or being preset by the user.

So what happens to Touch ID? Previous leaks had said Apple will use an under-glass fingerprint scanner but Kuo believes that it will be replaced by another form of biometric security system such as an iris scanner.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro Review – Still the Beast in 2017!

Xiaomi has released a lot of phones in 2016 and it seems that they are planning to do the same this year. Even though the Redmi Note 4 was launched quite a while back, the Redmi Note 3 Pro is still one a very solid offering. Learn more in our full review.

Thanks to Banggood.com for sending the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (International model) for a review

UNBOXING

P1080026JPG P1080031JPG

In the box, you get all the usual items, no extras included.

DESIGN and DISPLAY

P1070753JPG

I have the international version of the phone that has 32GB of storage and it costs just over $180. You can also opt it for a much cheaper yet less powerful model that costs $140. All the links will be down below in the video description.

P1070716JPG

The Redmi Note 3 Pro follows a familiar design language of the Note series. It sports a metal design (except for the top and bottom parts on the back for antennas), rounded edges and tactile metal buttons.

P1070740JPG

I love that the phone feels great in the hand despite it’s 5.5” 1080p display, which is sharp and vibrant but the sunlight legibility could be slightly better. As usual to the Note series, we have a highly customizable LED notification light and nicely backlit capacitive keys.

P1070805JPG

I like the sound quality via the headset jack and same can be said about the loudspeaker. The sound is crisp, balanced and definitely one of the better ones you can find in this price range.

P1070808JPG

The fingerprint scanners on Xiaomi phones have been great and the Redmi Note 3 Pro is no exception. It is fast, reliable and it unlocks the phone straight from the standby mode.

P1070829JPG

Finally, the phone has the IR blaster that allows you to control other devices like TVs.

HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE

P1080027JPG

Hardware department is where the Redmi Note 3 Pro shines. Even though it was released back in February, the Snapdragon 650 chip coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage is a great combination.

Yes, you may see a few skipped frames in some games if you play them on the highest graphics but you can’t really complain about that.

The device gets a little warm when gaming but it does not overheat.

USER INTERFACE

The international version of the Redmi Note 3 Pro comes with the MIUI 8, Google Services pre-installed, all the Chinese bloatware removed and OTA support. Even after installing quite a lot of apps, the phone runs smoothly and I’ve yet to see the Android 6.0-based MIUI 8 lag.

That is even more impressive given a formidable feature set and plenty of customization options. Just to name a few, you can change the looks by using one of the largest theme stores on any phone.

My other favorite features include the ability to customize the capacitive keys, quickly launch the camera or adjust the display settings. The list of features goes on but these are my favourites.

CAMERA

IT IS HIGHLY-RECOMMENDED TO DOWNLOAD FULL RESOLUTION CAMERA SAMPLES TO SEE THE ACTUAL IMAGE QUALITY. THE PICTURES UPLOADED ON THE WEBSITE ARE 50% SMALLER IN RESOLUTION.

P1070808JPG

The Redmi Note 3 Pro has a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and a single LED flash.

The stock camera app allows you to take pictures very fast. Also, you can select from a few shooting modes like a pro mode for photos or slow-motion mode for videos.

The daylight images look great. There is plenty of detail, sharpness and the color reproduction is pretty good. There were a few photos with inaccurate white balance though.

You can also take some good-looking macro and indoor shots if there is enough light.

The low-light camera performance is a lot worse. There is much more noise, the level of detail is lower and sometimes you may a red tint in the outdoor shots.

The 1080p video looks pretty good but it would be great to see a bit more detail. A great thing is that the CAF works quite well.

The front-facing camera uses a 5MP sensor. The selfies look kind of soft and they could definitely have more sharpness. The selfie video is mediocre. The footage not only looks soft but also, the auto-exposure was really struggling on the sunny day when I tested out the camera.

Download full resolution camera samples

CONNECTIVITY

P1080004JPG P1080059JPG

When it comes to connectivity, I have no complaints. The wifi works well, the GPS is really fast and accurate and finally, I didn’t have any issues with neither signal reception nor call quality.

BATTERY LIFE

One of the key selling points of the Redmi Note 3 Pro is a huge 4050 mAh battery that performs great. Depending on your usage habits, you will be able to get about 6 or even 7 hours of screen-on time, which is a great result.

P1070826JPG

Since the Redmi Note 3 Pro was released like a year ago, it uses the standard micro USB charging port. The phone supports the Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3.0 tech but the supplied charger does not support this feature. It takes about 2.5h to fully charge the phone with it.

CONCLUSIONS

P1070792JPG

So, there you have it, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro after 1 year of the official release. I still think it is a very solid offering, especially if you consider that you can get it for as low as $140.

P1070743JPG

The phone has a sturdy metal design, it sits comfortably in the hand and the display is plenty sharp for everyday use.

Also, I love that the Snapdragon 650 chip has enough power for 3D gaming and MIUI 8 is well-optimized for a smooth performance. In addition, the camera is still one of the best in this price range and finally, the battery life is fantastic.

P1070809JPG

However, you have to know that low-light camera performance is kind of mediocre and there is no 4k video recording. Also, if you want to use the Quick Charge 3.0 tech, you would need to buy a fast charger separately.

P1070826JPG

Speaking of charging, the micro USB port is slowly becoming a legacy port and this phone may slow down your transition to the USB-C standard.

At the end of the day, we have to agree that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro has some shortcomings that you have to consider but I can still recommend it as one of the best offerings for the price, even after 1 year of the official launch.

Images of Huawei P10 Leaked: Confirms New Bold Colors

Yesterday, images of the Huawei P10 Plus leaked online. Today they have been followed by that of the Huawei P10, courtesy of Evan Blass.

The Huawei P10 and P10 Plus will both be unveiled next week at Barcelona. The new devices are the successors to last year’s Huawei P9 and P9 Plus and bring along new and improved features.

The main difference between both devices are their displays. Both feature 5.5-inch displays but only the P10 Plus gets the dual-curved treatment. The P10 will instead sport a flat display.

The leaked image confirms that the device will be available in new and attractive colors. The image shows the blue, gold and green variants and we expect there should be more. The P9 is available in eight different colors, so chances are more colors will be announced in future.

Other differences between both devices are the camera setup and fingerprint scanner. Both have dual-cameras and according to leaks are the same sensors. However, the LED flash and laser focus module are positioned differently. The flash and laser focus module are stacked on top of one another in the P10 but are standing vertically in the P10 Plus. For the fingerprint scanner, the P10 Plus has its own on the rear which is a little above where the Huawei logo is on the Huawei P10. The P10 on the other hand settles for a physical home button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

New Leaked Image of the Xiaomi Mi 5C: No Physical Home Button

The Xiaomi Mi 5C is expected to be the first Xiaomi phone released with the Pinecone V670 processor. Rumored to be released in March, a new image of the phone has been leaked online showing it sporting a new design.

When the first set of images of the Mi 5C were leaked online back when it was still called Xiaomi Meri, the device featured a physical home button. However, this new image leaked on Weibo by @strong machine and said to have originated from a Foxconn factory lacks the physical home button. Another difference is the position of the front camera which has been moved from the right to the left.

This new device is better looking and the front bezels are thinner but since there is no picture of the rear we can’t confirm the position of the fingerprint scanner. The front also lacks the groove of the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner in the Mi 5S. So we can’t say if there is one embedded underneath the display.

OnePlus 4 Concept Renders & Likely Specs Leak

OnePlus gave us a touched up version of the OnePlus 3 late last year, christened OnePlus 3T, so we are expecting another OnePlus flagship this year. This perhaps precipitated the design of a purported OnePlus 4 concept whose renders and specs appeared online recently. We would have taken this as a hint that OnePlus is indeed working on a new flagship called OnePlus 4 if not for the fact that the number 4 isn’t a lucky figure in China and manufacturers most times avoid it.

OnePlus 4

Ideally, since the last flagship from the company is the OnePlus 3 or 3T, the next would be the OnePlus 4 so it is still possible the company is actually working on a OnePlus 4  flagship which would hit the stands this year. It is also likely the next-gen OnePlus smartphone may be called OnePlus 5.

OnePlus 4

The renders leaked online recently and are said to be those of the OnePlus 4. The color style takes a deviation from the Gunmetal and Soft gold paint jobs we are accustomed to on the OnePlus 3 and earlier models. Instead, there is a red colored styling as well as a black and a white variant.

OnePlus 4

Another spectacular innovation is the dual-lens rear camera mounted onboard the device, aligned in a vertical direction with the dual-tone LED flash sitting in between the two lenses. The dual cameras are said to have a 16MP main shooter and a 12MP sensor on the secondary camera. Up front, there is an 8MP sensor. The display is a 5.5-inch display with a whopping 2K resolution.

OnePlus 4

The OnePlus flagship is also rumored to come with the Snapdragon 835 chip, supplemented by 6GB of RAM. There is also a 64GB and 128GB storage versions which can be expanded up to 256GB. The OnePlus 4 is listed to feature a 4000mAh battery capacity with support for OnePlus’ DASH fast charge technology.

Huawei’s Voice Assistant for Smartphones to Arrive Soon

Apple has Siri voice assistant on its iPhones. The Google Assistant was introduced on Google Pixel smartphones. Microsoft smartphones have Cortana onboard and Amazon’s voice assistant is called Alexa. Also, Samsung is heavily pegged to launch Bixby voice assistant on Galaxy S8. Fresh information has revealed that Huawei, the third largest smartphone manufacturer in the world is all set to rival the existing AI assistants by introducing its own digital assistants.

According to Bloomberg, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is currently developing its own voice assistant and it has over 100 engineers working on it.  The report states that Huawei’s digital assistant would be aimed towards domestic audience as it will carry support for Chinese languages.
