The Huawei Mate 20 series will go official tomorrow. Multiple reports have revealed the entire specifications and appearance of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro smartphones that are slated to go official tomorrow. A poster that confirms the key features of the Huawei Mate 20 series is doing rounds on Weibo.

According to the image, the main selling features of the Mate 20 series are 7nm flagship chipset i.e. Kirin 980, super wide-angle lens, support for super macro shooting and 40W superfast charging. The image also showcases the rear view of the Mate 20 Pro and front appearance of the Mate 20.

The Mate 20 is equipped with a waterdrop notch display with a regular rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Previous leaks have revealed that that the Mate 20 Pro will be equipped with a wider notch and it does not feature a fingerprint scanner on its rear since it is embedded under the display. The wider notch of the Mate 20 Pro will be housing 3D structurer light module for 3D face unlock.

The backside of the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are equipped with Leica engineered triple camera system and an LED flash arranged in a square-shaped module. The Mate 20 is rumored to house a 4,000mAh battery whereas the Mate 20 Pro is likely to arrive with a larger battery of 4,200mAh capacity. With 40W SuperCharge fast charging technology onboard, the Mate 20 Pro will be to reach 70 percent from scratch in just 30 minutes.

China Smartphone market registers record decline in Q3 2018

As predicted by the Analysts, the Chinese smartphone market is on the decline this year. After a continuous decline in the last quarter, Chinese smartphone makers witnessed another record decline in the Q3 2018. As per the recent report from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the domestic mobile phone market is down by 11.7% in comparison to the same time last year. Further, the market witnessed a decline of 19.7% on a quarter-on-quarter basis.

In Septemeber, around 95 devices were launched which is about 26% less than the same period last year and 65.5% on a quarter-on-quarter basis. Most of the smartphones that have launched are 4G based and caters around 70% of the devices manufactured. Approximately, 18 3G mobile devices were launched in the same span of time.

Similarly, 4G smartphones garnered 94.8% sales accounting for 37.012 million units. While 2G and 3G sales remained at 10000 units and 0.8 million units respectively. The decline can also be seen on the 2G and 3G smartphone sales as they have slumped 22.6% and 529.9% respectively. In the same period, 2G sales remained 49,000 units, down 90% in comparison to the past year.

In total, 635 new phones were launched since the start of this year. Out of these, 144 models were 2G compatible, and 488 models were out there with 4G support. This year, only a single 3G compatible device launched in China.

Overall, since the starting of this year, the domestic smartphone shipments reached 305 million which is down 17% year-on-year basis. Out of the total 305 million sales, over 276 million units were of local brands while international brands, majorly Apple generated remaining sales.

Most of the sales are garnered by the top 10 manufacturers in China which includes, Xiaomi, Huawei, Apple and Samsung. Over 92% of sales were constituted by these manufacturers, which is an 8% increase in comparison with the same period last year.

Last month, along with the iPhone XR, XS and XS Max, Apple also announced its new-generation smartwatch — Apple Watch Series 4. Now, it is available for pre-order in India through online marketplace Flipkart as well as Apple Authorised Retailers.

It comes with a speaker that is 50 percent louder and has been optimised for phone calls, Siri, and Walkie-Talkie. The microphone on the smartwatch has been relocated in order to reduce echo for better sound quality. As per the company, all health and fitness data is encrypted on-device and in the cloud. It seems Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 launch date is nearing as the company president, Lin Bin has announced about it on Weibo. He says that it is incomparable with a whole new concept and will release in October. He added a photo of the sliding phone with a dual camera and 100% display, which is reported to be the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. Further, Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun also responded to speed up the mass production and conveyed a message to production teams to get ready for huge sales by October.

Asus has received position response in the Indian market for its Zenfone 5Z flagship smartphone and Zenfone Max Pro M1 mid-range phone. Now, after the success of both those devices, the Taiwan-based company is now all set to launch new devices in the Indian market.

ZTE delivers Android Oreo update for Axon 7 with issues

ZTE Axon 7 is the company’s most popular device launched in May 2016. It has received proper updates and security patches since the past couple of years. Recently, ZTE started pushing the Android Oreo-based update for Axon 7, but it carried some issues. As per some users, these are the same issues that have been found in the beta version which was rolled with July Security patch a few months ago.

It seems ZTE didn’t rectify few issues in the beta build and rolled out the stable build to all the ZTE Axon 7 devices. It resulted in app crashes, overheating problems and users are having difficulty with connectivity. It also lacks support for the Daydream VR in the latest so-called “stable build”.

Recently, ZTE faced sanctions from the US government which restricted the company to operate in the mainstream market. As now the sanctions are lifted, ZTE has launched the Axon 9 Pro and has started testing the software builds in open beta.

The stable build is not available for download via OTA, and you need to sideload it via SD card. Surprisingly, you have to wipe your data and install the update on ZTE Axon 7. Well, it is quite strange that ZTE is rolling the stable update without an OTA support. Some users are reporting that the update brings an encryption issue which doesn’t decrypt the data on device’s partition irrespective of what pin was entered.

Nokia 3.1 Plus TENAA listing appears, China launch could be very near

In the previous week, HMD Global had launched the Nokia 3.1 Plus smartphone in India. Soon after its Indian launch, the smartphone that bears a model number of TA-1117 was spotted on the website of China’s TENAA telecom authority. The specifications of the smartphone is yet to appear on the TENAA listing, but it does include its images.

The Nokia 3.1 Plus TENAA images show that the handset is equipped with a tall aspect ratio display at the front. The back panel of the phone features a vertical dual camera setup followed by an LED flash and a fingerprint reader.

As far as the specifications of the Nokia 3.1 Plus, they have been already through its Indian launch. It is a slightly advanced version of the Nokia 3.1 phone that was announced in May.

The Nokia 3.1 Plus is fitted with a 6-inch IPS LCD display that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9 and HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It measures 159 x 76.4 x 8.2mm and weighs 180 grams. Meizu cites display production issues as reason for X8 delay

The Meizu X8 is supposed to go on sale tomorrow but Meizu announced that it has been pushed forward to October 25. When it released the official statement announcing the postponement, it didn’t provide a specific reason. Now, more info has surfaced about the delay.

According to Meizu’s CEO, Jack Wong, the display panel supplier for the Meizu X8 is Chinese display maker BOE and they are experiencing production issues with the display. The X8 sports an LCD panel but the display uses COF (Chip-on-Film) packaging process a first for a Meizu full-screen phone and one that is custom-made and a bit difficult to make.

The problem is already being dealt with but it has affected the delivery of the panels hence the reason for pushing the sale date forward.

The Meizu X8 has a 6.2-inch 1080 x 2220 screen with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio and a notch at the top. It is powered by the 10nm Snapdragon 710 processor with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage.

Since the Redmi Note 5 Pro was met with overwhelming response in India, it is speculated that the Redmi Note 6 Pro will be met with good reception. According to reliable tipster from India, Xiaomi is planning to launch the Redmi Note 6 Pro smartphone in India. He has claimed that the phone may go official during the Diwali festival season at the end of the first week of the coming month. Apart from sharing the launch plans of the Note 6 Pro for India, the tipster has also shared key details on its storage and color variants that will be landing in India.

The tipster has revealed that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro will be coming to India in colors like Rose Gold, Black, Blue and Red. Like the Redmi Note 5 Pro, its successor is expected to release in India in variants like 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 6 GB RAM.

Compared to the predecessor model, the Redmi Note 6 Pro does not seem to offer many new features. The Note 6 Pro is fitted with a 6.26-inch notched IPS LCD screen that produces Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The handset is fueled by Snapdragon 636 chipset and 4,000mAh battery.

It is fitted with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. There is no information available on the pricing of the Redmi Note 6 Pro for India.
