Do you like the Lava Red OnePlus 5T and have been praying for a red OnePlus 6? The today or Monday, July 2, depending on how you look at it, is your lucky day as OnePlus will announce a red version of its latest device.
The OnePlus 6 already comes in three color variants – Midnight Black, Mirror Black, and Silk White. But according to a new teaser from OnePlus, the phone will get a red variant which will be announced on July 2.
It is easy to see OnePlus is teasing a red variant of the OnePlus 6 in the above clip but if you want more proof, you should check out the tweet below by popular YouTuber @MKBHD, or even live photos of the upcoming color variant.
The red OnePlus 6 also has a glass back like its other siblings. While the pictures below don’t show the front, we want to believe the bezels are black.
We can’t tell yet if the red variant will be limited to certain regions or will be available for all. We also have no idea what configuration it will come in. However, one thing we can tell you is that it is going to fly off the “shelves” very fast and will be available in limited quantity.
When it comes to purchasing a printer, most people look towards brands like Canon, Epson, HP, Xerox, or Lexmark. That may be changing soon as news has it that Xiaomi and Huawei will be entering the printer market this summer.
The news comes from @MochaRQ, an insider in the Chinese tech industry. In a Weibo post, he revealed that both Chinese manufacturers will launch home printers during the summer holidays.
He adds that, for both brands to grab a share of the printer market, their printers must be feature packed and priced aggressively. The latter condition isn’t an issue for Xiaomi. A large number of its products sell for less than that of rivals while offering the same or even more features.
Apart from products for use by adults, Xiaomi also collaborates with its partners to launch products for kids. One of such products is this new Inline roller skate which is under crowdfunding at Xiaomi Youpin. The product is manufactured by Xiaomi’s ecological chain company Xiaoshun Technology that focuses on the kiddies market. The company’s range of products includes children’s watches, toys, computers and other products. They have now added a smart roller skate to their catalogue of products. As usual, the roller skates is a quality product that is affordable- just 199 yuan ($30). The smart roller skates also come bundled with a set of protective gears including a helmet, all priced at 89 yuan ($13). We should also add that the roller skate was developed with input from the owner of Interskate roller rink in the U.S, Luther Bernstein.
The smart roller skate comes with an inline design, having four wheels arranged vertically. The knife holder and the shoe body are in close contact with each other to avoid the phenomenon of partial edge. The body of the shoe is made of a PP-resistant material, and the 3D shoe is reinforced and impact-resistant and fits the ankle. The roller skate and its accessories are available in three size categories – S code (size 26-29), M code (30-34), L code (35-39).
In addition, the wheels are wear-resistant and have shock-absorbing polyurethane pulleys, silent bearings, and non-slip grip. The right foot is equipped with a brake to increase the safety factor at high-speed skating. As a smart skate, the new gadget comes with a smart module built into the shoes to monitor the user’s movement data. The data can be accessed via an app in order to view the duration of each skating exercise, the number of steps, the average speed, and the calories burned.
The accessories include a knee pad, elbow pad and a helmet. They are all available on crowdfunding via the Youpin website as a set or users may choose to buy by them separately. It is available in Grey/Yellow and Grey/Pink colour combos.
Xiaomi‘s journey with the highly successful Mi Mix series started with the Mi Mix which was released in 2016. The company later launched a second-generation model dubbed Mi Mix 2 in September last year. This was followed by the Mi Mix 2s which is an upgraded version of the Mix 2 and that was released in March this year. The release of the Mi Mix 2s created some sort of confusion as to whether the company will still launch a third-gen model. A couple of images purported to be those of the Mi Mix 3 has emerged on Weibo that indicates that Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is in the works.
These images are perhaps the first live images of the third-generation Mix 3 and noticeably, the device comes with a streamlined design. Notably, the Mix 3 comes with ultra-thin bezls on all sides. The previous-gen models, including the Mix 2s has bezels at the top and bottom whose sizes are disproportionate. The top and bottom bezels are are bigger than the side bezels. But in this case all sides are thin.
The thin bezels will, no doubt, nudge the screen ratio higher but this design makes it difficult to cram the selfie camera under the bezels at the chin. Since none is spotted, we suspect the company may adopt the mechanical sliding shutter design as seen on the Vivo Nex and Oppo Find X.
Unfortunately, the leaked photos did not include the back panel but the design may not be very different from the Mi Mix 2s. That is, the device will come with a ceramic body and a vertically aligned dual camera setup in the top corner that may boast two 12-megapixel sensors and a dual-tone LED flash. Xiaomi may likely retain the rear fingerprint scanner.
We don’t expect the device to launch any time soon but since the Mix 2 was launched in September, a similar schedule may be adopted. Let’s not also rule out the possibility that the leaked image isn’t that of the Mix 3.
At the Oppo Find X launch event in China, the company also launched Oppo O-Free Wireless Bluetooth Headset. The ultra light-weight headset, which is designed for lower power consumption, uses Qualcomm’s chipset.
It comes with a built-in smart chip that synchronizes the left and right ear sounds with the phone without any delay. For this, it uses Oppo’s TrueWireless Stereo technology. The headset also allows users to easily adjust volume, music playback as well as changing tracks with simple operation.
Oppo has revealed that it is powered by Qualcomm QCC3026 chipset that was introduced today. It is a flash-programmable Bluetooth Audio System-on-Chip (SoC) that was purpose-built to take fully wireless headphones to the next level. The chipset can offer up to 50 percent reduced power consumption, increased functionality, and faster performance.
Along with music playback and answering calls, the headset also comes with support for translation as well as Oppo‘s smart voice assistant. Just like other wireless headsets, the Oppo O-Free Wireless Bluetooth Headset also comes with a built-in battery that is claimed to deliver four hours of continuous playback. The playback can be expanded with the charging case that adds another 12 hours of juice.
The Oppo O-Free Wireless Bluetooth Headset is priced at 699 Yuan, which roughly converts to $106 and will be available for purchase in China from August, around the time when SuperVOOC version and the Lamborghini Edition of the Oppo Find X will go on sale in China.
Currently, there is no information about the availability of this headset in regions other than China. However, Oppo has scheduled a launch event in India on July 12 where the company is expected to launch its flagship smartphone — Find X. There’s a possibility that the Oppo O-Free could also get launched in India at the same event.
A new edition of the Amazon Fire HD 10 tablet has been unveiled and it is tailored specifically for kids. The Fire HD 10 Kids Edition isn’t a toy but a full-fledged tablet with a kid-proof casing to go with it. The device comes with the same internals as the Fire HD 10 tablet which was launched last year. However, the device is crammed with some added kid-friendly features.
The tablet features a 10.1-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. It also comes with 32GB of expandable internal storage which can be increased up to 256GB via microSD. Since the product is designed for kids, there is a colourful kid-proof rubber case which is available in Blue, Purple and Yellow colours. The device is also bundled with 1 year of FreeTime Unlimited access to special apps, games, videos and books. After the first year FreeTime Unlimited will cost $36 a year. The device also comes with 2 years of warranty and additional parental controls which allow parents to limit what content their child can see and how much screen time it gets.
The Fire HD 10 tablet is presently on pre-order for $199 on Amazon. The price is $50 more than the regular Fire HD 10 which is as a result of the added features and accessories. The device will start shipping on July 11.
Apart from the Fire HD 10 tablet Kids edition, Amazon also took the wraps off the Show Mode Charging Dock. The dock is available in two sizes, one for the Fire HD 8 tablet another one for the Fire HD 10 and transforms those devices into a full-screen Alexa experience. Once the tablet is kept sitting on the dock, it displays an Alexa home screen which listens to any voice commands and can play videos, TV shows, show books and play games.
As for the price, the Show Mode Dock is available for $35 for the 8-inch version and $50 for the 10-inch dock. The device is on preorder presently and will ship on July 12. The price tags will pitch at $40 and $55 respectively at the end of pre-orders.
Xiaomi Mi 6X Hatsune Miku Special Edition is with us. The device was unveiled yesterday in China just as we reported. The major highlight of the new edition is the beautiful artwork and Hatsune Miku theme as well as customized accessories which it features. What better way to savour the beauty than from these crisp, clear unboxing pictures of the device.
Xiaomi first launched a Hatsune Miku Special Edition for the Redmi Note 4X last year. The edition turned out to be very popular in Japan from where the VOLACOID character Hatsune Miku originated. That success may have precipitated the release of this new version
The Xiaomi Mi 6X Hatsune Miku Edition adopts a green paint job and that includes the fused antenna band, rear dual cameras ring and fingerprint sensor. The design also includes a drawing of the Hatsune Miku character on the back panel of the phone. The phone is encased in a special gift box that also houses a metal nameplate, custom-made transparent TPU casing for the Mi 6X and a customized 10000mAh Mi power bank. Each Mi 6X Hatsune Special Edition smartphone has a unique global number that is written below the rear image. There are only 5000 units available so we presume the numbers will be from 01 – 5000. The unit featured in this gallery is numbered 73.
Xiaomi Mi 6X Hatsune Miku Edition is available in 6GB RAM + 64GB storage formation. Furthermore, the device will be priced at 2099 yuan (~$317) which is 300 yuan higher than the regular Mi 6X 6GB+64GB variant. The phone will go on sale on July 3 in China via Mi Mall but the reservation is now live. Find more pictures of the Mi 6X Hatsune Miku edition from the gallery below.
A report from the last month had revealed that Huawei had order massive Super AMOLED panels of 6.9 inches from Samsung Display. Since the report had also claimed that the South Korean company would be supplying the OLED screens by the end of Q3, it was speculated that the Mate 20 Pro arriving in October could be featuring the huge 6.9-inch display. A leaked photo of a consignment that has surfaced today reveals that the behemoth display will be used on an upcoming Honor phone that is codenamed as Ravel.
After launching the Honor 8 in June 2016 with 5.2-inch IPS LCD display, the company had released Honor Note 8 with 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display. In 2017, Honor had launched the Honor 9 smartphone that featured a 5.15-inch IPS LCD screen. However, there was no follow up “Note” for the Honor 9. There is a possibility that the 6.9-inch phone could belong to a mysterious Honor Note series smartphone. Hence, it is likely that this phone may get official Honor Note 10. Some Chinese tech sites are also referring it to as Honor Note 9.
Last week, George Zhao, Honor’s President had said on Weibo that he has been using the Honor 10 as well as another Honor phone with large-sized display. It is now being speculated that the latter could be the mysterious Honor with 6.9-inch S-AMOLED screen.
There is no information available on the specs of the upcoming Honor Note phone. Since it is expected to arrive as a flagship smartphone, it is likely to feature the Kirin 970. Huawei has recent recently launched the Honor Play and Honor 9i smartphones with GPU Turbo technology. Hence, it is likely that the forthcoming Honor Note phone may also feature it.
Last week, at an event in Paris, Oppo introduced its flagship smartphone Oppo Find X. Now, as promised, the company has launched the Oppo Find X smartphone in China.
In China, the device comes in three different variants. The 128GB storage model has standard VOOC flash charge, while the 256GB storage version comes with SuperVOOC charging. The third is variant is the premium Lamborghini Edition.
The standard variant with 128GB storage is priced at 4,999 Yuan (approx. $756), while the 256GB model is priced at 5,999 Yuan (approx. $907). On the other hand, the Lamborghini Variant has been priced at 9,999 Yuan which roughly converts to $1,511.
The Oppo Find X comes with a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display dominates the front side of the phone and it is touted as the world’s first smartphone to come with a screen-to-body-ratio of 93.8 percent. While the bezels are completely gone from three sides, there’s still a small chin at the base of the screen.
Unlike the Vivo NEX that has a pop-out front-facing camera, the Find X comes with a large automatic sliding mechanism the width of the phone. When this part of the phone slides out, it not only reveals the front camera and 3D face scanning sensors for unlocking the phone, it also reveals the dual rear cameras and LED flash. OPPO has termed it “Stealth 3D cameras”. According to the company, the slide-out mechanism pops out in just 0.5 seconds.
The front-facing camera sensor is of 25MP for taking selfies. It comes with multiple 3D portrait lighting features and Omoji, which is OPPO’s own take on the iPhone X’s emojis. For the photography, the smartphone comes equipped with a dual camera setup that consists of a 16MP + 20MP sensors on the back with OIS and AI features.
Under the hood, the Oppo Find X is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage. The smartphone doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, instead, it comes with O-Face (3D face unlock) which OPPO says has a failure rate of 1/1,000,000 compared to that of a fingerprint scanner which is 1/50,000.
It runs on ColorOS 5.1 AI Smart custom UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The company says that the OS will learn usage habits, preload common applications, and make the app start faster. It also features a smartphone voice assistant. The device is backed by a 3730mAh battery, which supports Oppo’s custom super fast VOOC charging technology.
The Oppo Find X comes in two color options — Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue while the Lamborghini Edition comes with carbon fiber back. The Standard Variant will be available for purchase in China from July 13, through online as well as offline stores. The 256GB storage model, as well as Lamborghini Edition, will go on sale in August.
The smartphone is all set to go on sale in Europe from August. Oppo has already scheduled a launch event in India on July 12, where the company is expected to launch Oppo Find X smartphone.
Huawei had announced the GPU Turbo technology earlier this month. This technology which relies on hardware-software optimize can improve the graphics performance of a smartphone by 60 percent, while cutting down on the power consumption by 30 percent. At its launch, Huawei had confirmed that the technology will be made available to multiple Huawei and Honor devices through a software update. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed the roll out schedule for GPU Turbo technology. It has also revealed the list of devices that are eligible to receive it.
GPU Turbo Update Plan for Huawei Phones

Owners of the aforementioned smartphones in regions like Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa will be provided with the update. The Huawei P20 Lite users in all the markets mentioned above excluding Russia will be receiving the GPU Turbo tech update in September.
Also, Huawei will be bringing the update to other Huawei phones such as Huawei P Smart, Nova 2i, Mate 10, Lite and Y9 (2018) in all the markets in September. Owners of Huawei Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, P10 Plus and P10 in all regions will get the update by November 2018.
The Honor 10 users in Europe, Russia, Asia Pacific, India and Middle Ease will be treated with GPU Turbo update in August. The Honor 9 Lite and Honor V10 belonging to aforementioned regions will be receiving the update in September. The Honor 7X available in all regions will be updated to GPU Turbo in September. Also, Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9 owners in all the regions will be receiving the update in November.
The GPU Turbo technology is already available on Honor Play and Honor 9i smartphones. Its beta version is now available to smartphones like Huawei P20, P20 Pro and Honor 10.
Recently, Huawei announced the beta testing program of its EMUI 8.1 update with GPU Turbo for the users of Huawei P20 and P20 Pro. Now, the company has announced that it will soon roll out EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system to its seven smartphones.
The list of older smartphones from the company that will receive the new software update includes Huawei Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus, Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, and Honor Play 6X. The company says that the update rollout will begin from 30th June.
This is interesting given that most smartphone manufacturers drop support for devices older than two years. But Huawei is showing that it supports older devices and is rolling out new software update with an aim to further improve the performance of the older devices.
Among the list of older Huawei smartphones that will get the EMUI 8.0 update, the oldest smartphone is the Huawei Mate 8 which was launched in the year 2015. At the time of the launch, the smartphone was running EMUI 4.0 out of the box.
EMUI 8.0, which is based on Android Oreo operating system, comes with artificial intelligence that makes the software experience smarter and quicker. It packs features like Real-Time Scene and Object Recognition, Smart Tips, and AI-accelerated language translation, among others.
The company had previously stated that users can witness a faster and smarter phone experience, powered by advanced AI technological features. Huawei claims that the update significantly cuts down on the number of steps needed to achieve the desired function through its smart applications like navigation dock and smart screen, and enables the user to reach 90% of the core functions in just a single click.
It also brings some artificial intelligence-based capabilities such as resource allocation, context awareness as well as user behavior prediction. Thanks to Android Oreo, users will also have access to features like split-screen interface, navigation dock, one-hand operation and smart view.
Full specifications and official renders of an upcoming mid-range OPPO device have leaked online. The OPPO A5, based on the renders and specs will also join the notched display train.
The device has a 6.2-inch 1520 x 720 display. Although there is a notch at the top, the phone still has a bit of bezel at the bottom too. Under its hood is a Snapdragon 450 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
The OPPO A5 has dual rear cameras – a 13MP sensor paired with a 2MP sensor for depth of field. It also has an 8MP sensor nestled within the notch in front.

There is Android 8.1 Oreo on board along with a 4230mAh battery. It doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, so face unlock is probably available. The phone’s dimensions are 156.2 x 75.6 x 8.2mm.
Official renders show the phone has a polygon design on the back and appears to be covered in glass. We have seen this design on some of OPPO’s recent offering including the India-exclusive Realme 1.

Samsung has confirmed that it will be debuting the Galaxy Note 9 on Aug. 9. Well-known tipster Eldar Murtazin who has used the pre-production unit of the Note 9 in order to evaluate its hardware and software has shared some juicy details about the flagship smartphone.
According to Murtazin, there is miniscule difference between the front design of the Galaxy Note 9 and the predecessor Galaxy Note 8. In fact, the only major change in the design is the repositioned fingerprint reader which is now available below the horizontal dual camera.
In the camera department too, Samsung has not brought many major changes as it inherits the dual camera setup with variable aperture from the Galaxy S9+. Murtazin has revealed that with new algorithms onboard and improved optical image stabilization, the dual cameras are able to deliver better photography experience. The South Korean company has also updated the AR Emojis on the Note 9. The pre-production unit was found to be equipped with brighter panel for improved sunlight visibility. It also features updated Always on Display (AOD).
The Galaxy Note 9 is a bit bulky as Murtazin claims that it is packed with a 4,000mAh battery. Such a large battery may allow the phablet to last for two days with single charge. As rumors have revealed, Murtazin has said that the S Pen stylus will be arriving with some major improvements including support for Bluetooth connectivity.
The U.S. and South Korea are expected to receive the Snapdragon 845 edition of the Galaxy Note 9. Rest of the market could be treated with its Exynos 9810 variant. The handset will be arriving with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The company is also expected to unleash an 8 GB RAM edition of the Note 9 that will either include 256 GB or 512 GB of internal storage.
It is likely that the company may advertise the Galaxy Note 9 as a business-centric smartphone when its market release draws near. A recent report has revealed that the company may discontinue the Galaxy Note 8 in order to drive the sales of Note 9. The reason behind it is that the company has halted the shipments of the Note 8 units to its retailing partners. At present, the retailers are said to be clearing up the existing stock of Note 8.

However, the 64GB storage variant is yet to go on sale in India.
The smartphone is available in three color options — Black, Blue, and Gold. On the other hand, its bigger sibling — the Galaxy A6 Plus is still retailing for Rs. 25,990, which roughly converts to $379.
The Samsung Galaxy A6 comes with a 5.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display with screen resolution of 1480 x 720 pixels and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Motorola has announced that it has an event scheduled for August 2. However, it has kept mum on what product(s) it will be announcing. Although it does tease us with the statement “a whole new way to connect, stream, download, video chat, and more”. The Moto Z3 and the Moto One Power are the two major devices that are yet to be announced. There is a chance it can be one or even both of them.
The Moto Z3 is the more likely of the two phones to be announced. Its predecessor – the Moto Z2 Force – was announced in July last year, so an early August launch isn’t far off the mark.
For now, the only confirmed spec of the Moto Z3 is a Snapdragon 845 processor. It will most definitely come with the same sized 18:9 display as the Moto Z3 Play but with a higher resolution. It should also pack dual rear cameras and may be announced along with new Moto Mods.

Huawei is one of the Chinese smartphone OEMs that has been actively working to make 5G technology available to general users. At the ongoing Mobile World Congress Shanghai (MWCS) 2018, Huawei CEO Eric Xu confirmed that the company plans to be ready with its first commercial 5G solutions and smartphone chips by March next year. This will make it possible to debut its first 5G smartphone by June 2019.
Huawei is known for launching P-series of flagship phones by the first quarter of the year whereas the Mate series flagship are made official at the start of the last quarter.
