Pictures of Lenovo Moto Z Play Surfaces

Lenovo launched the Moto Z and Moto Z Force in June and mentioned that a lower version, tagged the Moto Z Play is in the works.

A Google+ page by the name HelloMotoHK, which is known for leaking Motorola products has posted real images of the Moto Z Play. There is an image showing the phone running Lenovo’s One UI which is used for their products in China, hinting at a possible China launch.

Moto Z Play

The Moto X Play which is a lower version of the Moto X Style (Moto X Pure Edition) launched in India last year. Apart from the possible Asia launch they will have in common, the Moto Z Play is expected to have a larger battery than its siblings just like the X Play.

moto-z-play-vector-3

The design of the Moto Z Play doesn’t look much different from the other Moto Z phones, and we can see it also sports a connector and pins which means it should work with Moto Mods out of the box. Not looking different means it will retain the disadvantages such as the large camera hump and the fingerprint magnet.

Two of the pictures also show the phone with the tag ”Vector” which was one of the code names used for one of the Motorola devices ahead of the Moto Z launch.

It is currently unknown when this phone will launch and if it will be available outside of China. While it does feature nice specs and cool features, the price will determine if folks will choose it over the Moto G4 Plus, considering that the Moto Mods are expensive as well.

Is Meizu’s New Phone A New Line Entirely or The Pro 6 With an Exynos 8890?

Meizu’s next event is on the 10th of August and while the company has indeed confirmed that the event will be for the launch of a new phone, leaked pictures of a Meizu phone are pointing in another direction.

The leaked pictures shows a phone that closely resembles the Meizu Pro 6 and MX6 (more like the latter IMO). The only visible difference is the antenna line at the bottom which doesn’t curve upwards on this new phone. The camera and the LED flash are both positioned in the same spots and it also features a physical home button/fingerprint scanner.

The E Means Exynos

So what does this imply? We have translated this to mean that the E on the invite doesn’t stand for a new E-series but for Exynos and in this case the Samsung Exynos 8890.

Rumor also has it that the new device will have 4GB of RAM like the MX6, 64GB of ROM, and support fast charging. The picture already shows a USB Type-C port positioned in between the speaker grille and 3.5mm audio jack.

Heero Review: Device Controls Remotely Electronics and Let’s You Say Hi to Your Pet!

GizmoChina spoke today with Tim Mobbs, CEO of Guzu Inventions, a full-service marketing and design agency located in Brisbane Australia, about its latest invention, Heero.  Heero is a wide angle camera set on a body with an integrated microphone that remotely monitors and controls your electronic devices, including 3D printers. It turns out that its secondary functions have greatly appealed to its Kickstarter fans: its ability to control and interact with your baby to your pet!

prototypersatGuzuInventions

“At Guzu Inventions, we create, design and build prototypes on 3D printers on a daily basis. As great as the technology of 3D printing is, it isn’t fast yet. Prints can last up to six hours and the team often manage the job while they’re out of the office. Unfortunately, due to the unpredictability of 3D printing, we experienced a considerable amount of from wasted material, unusable prints. Then there’s the possibility a fire. Too many factors come into play to leave it to up chances,’ Tim Mobbs said.’ With our app, you can monitor and control the printer. You can keep watch by being on the lookout for sounds or errors and if needed, run the app to cut the power off, if anything isn’t right.’

heerodog
But then something unexpected happened with the launch of the Kickstarter. Mobbs said, “When we started to promote our campaign and showing Heero to designers and prototypers who work with 3D printers, we had a response which took us by surprise, “Not only can I monitor my print jobs but can’t I also  watch my baby or my dog or anything else that I place the camera at,  as well?” and of course, they can. We just didn’t know that it there would be such an interest in the voice alert function.”  One explanation for this interest may be the design of the device, per its namesake, it looks like a superhero. It stands on “two legs” and even comes with a cape to finish off the super look. This design appeals to parents who want to place in their kids’ room and makes for a conversation piece.

Heero’s triangular head has magnets positioned on the back. Its head can be placed on the tripod of your choice, or even your desktop/laptop cover. It can be mounted on the stand that works best for the location and is effortlessly moved around. The action is conveniently captured via live stream in real time on your smartphone. If while monitoring, you see that something is going wrong or need your intervention, you control the on and off switch using the app on your smartphone, or you place a voice command or soothe your baby by talking to your child. Imagine catching Rex climbing the kitchen counter to grab some food, and you can command him to get off it.

About Guzu Inventions:

A small team of 5 designers from the Australian-based company, Guzu Inventions, created their own solution to monitor their 3D prints remotely.

The product’s crowdfunding campaign has already raised more than $ $21,172 of their $73,000 goal. If you want to back the campaign or find out more about the product and its app, you can go here.

Real Life Images of Lenovo Vibe P2 Surfaces

Real images of the Lenovo Vibe P2 which were taken during a demo at a trade event in China have surfaced online. It is the successor to last year’s Vibe P1 and is expected to retain the same 5.5” size. However, it will be an AMOLED display and not an IPS screen.

Chinese companies are starting to move away from IPS displays as OLED/AMOLED screens can now be gotten locally.

Lenovo has made a couple of other changes to the Vibe P2 such as the use of on-screen buttons instead of capacitive buttons. This means the physical button might only serve as a fingerprint scanner since there’s already a home button on-screen.

The Vibe P2 will also feature 4GB of RAM, a Snapdragon 625 processor clocked at 2.02 GHz, an Adreno 506 GPU, and will ship with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The all-metal phone is expected to still have a 5000mAh battery but will have a thinner body at 8.5mm.

No NFC?

If you look closely, there’s no NFC symbol in this picture of the P2. The Vibe P1 and P1 Turbo both featured NFC with the symbol positioned just below the LED flash.

Meizu’s New E Series to Use Samsung’s Exynos 8890 Processor

Meizu has confirmed that the invite for the event on the 10th of August is for a new line of high end smart phones with the first one expected to launch with a Samsung Exynos 8890 processor. The new E Series is going to be entirely different from all the other lines and is expected to be aimed at the high-end.

Meizu E

The use of an Exynos processor shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the fact that Meizu and Qualcomm are currently not best of friends at the moment. Qualcomm filed a lawsuit against Meizu about a month ago with the former demanding for 520 million Yuan in damages for the infringement.

Exynos 8890

The Exynos 8890 SoC is a 64-bit ARMv8 octa-core processor based on the big.LITTLE architecture. It uses a custom Samsung CPU (Exynos M1 ”Mongoose”) clocked at 2.3GHZ  in combination with 4 cortex A-53 cores at 1.56GHz for low power consumption. The chip is built using the 2nd generation 14nm FinFET process, offering an increase in performance and better power efficiency.

Exynos 8890 specs

The SoC also uses a Category 12/13 modem that supports downlink speeds of up to 600Mbps and uplink speeds of up to 150Mbps and FDD-TDD joint carrier aggregation for more flexible network usage.

Exynos 8890 vs Snapdragon 820

A CPU comparison of the Samsung Exynos 8890 and Snapdragon 820 processor shows the SD 820 scoring 2320 for the single-core test against the Exynos 8890’s 2200. For the multi-core test, Samsung’s chip scores over 6500 against the SD 820’s 5369 indicating that the Exynos processor has enhanced multi-tasking and better utilization of the 8 cores.

Are you excited about the other features Meizu’s new E Series is going to bring? We are too, so make sure you check back for more info.

OnePlus Series Mega UNBRICK Guide + TWRP Flashing

OnePlus  Series Mega UNBRICK Guide + TWRP Flashing

Let’s rescue/unbrick our OnePlus One, 2 and 3 series, including OnePlus X, from any brick you may think of. Not very long, about 1.5 years ago, everyone was afraid of Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008 brick situations like death, because many didnt knew what that was, as a port. This is Qualcomm’s so called “service” port that we use to fix our phones with a proper ROM. This port can be manualy opened, or if you do something wrong like deleting your phone’s boot partitions accidently, sbl1.mbn for example, that port opens itself and waits you to flash with right Qualcomm flasher software, in the right way, with the right kind of ROM.

As someone who has been working on these “brick” cases since the past 2 years, I sometimes willingly brick a phone to death first, then unbrick it again, this takes less time in many brands, like today’s example, OnePlus series.

OnePlus is a “developer” phone in the first place. What does that mean ? This means your bootloader can be unlocked with a simple fastboot command and you are ready to “develop” ROMs or apps. This means OnePlus won’t be out of warrantee if you “root” it, as rooting and unlocking the bootloader freely are a part of being a developer phone. Thanks to OPPO, yes you read right– OnePlus One was an identical twin of the Oppo Find 7 series from inside, we are able to find “unbrick” roms of these developers phones since a while. Oppo Find 5 was the first model as an example of this story. Actually I am the first one in the world who has unbricked OnePlus One from a death brick ( i like to call this a coma brick ), from Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9006. My two articles “Snapdragon’s are UNBRICKABLE”  has been read by 450,000 readers around the world in a year. It’s time to share my experiences with our readers at gizmochina.com.

Rescue Files :

OnePlus 3

OnePlus 2

OnePlus X

OnePlus One

Qualcomm Driver :

Qualcomm QdLoader driver

STEP 1:

Before we start, we need to put our Windows operating system into “Test Mode”, so we dont have to deal with any driver install issues in between our work.

To do this just :

Press Start->Search->cmd then right-click on it and click Run as administrator. In the CMD window type or copy this “Bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON” and press enter.

Restart PC.

After your work with unbricking is done, if you want to get out of this test mode, detailed instructions are here : Windows Test Mode .

This is pure unbricking method with its own flasher inside the rescue folders so we dont need any adb or fastboot command to get in EDL (Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008) mode like we did in our Xiaomi guide before. We will use a simple key combination like I described in our Lenovo/ZUK guide. Special thanks to OnePlus for not hiding it from us, like Xiaomi did.

OnePlus’s own flashers : MsmDownloadTool V3.0 is for OnePlus 3, MSM8994DownloadTool is for OnePlus 2, MsmDownloadTool V2.0 is for OnePlus X and Msm8974DownloadTool is for the OnePlus One. These tools will be in every rescue package that you will download from links above. I will be working on OnePlus One today. This model has Color OS 2.0 as rescue ROM, so after you flashed this rom your OPO will boot with Color OS (Chinese-English version), BUT whats important for us is to get back our “fastboot mode” back, its a developer phone remember?

After we have fastboot mode back we will be able to flash TWRP recovery to our phones and flash any rom that we want, including stock ROMs. Rescue packages for other models than the OnePlus One contain only rescue partitions in it, so no “system.img” and “userdata.img’s”. They  will give you stock recovery and bootloader (fastboot). There are also complete  rescue ROM files but because they are big packages, hard to upload them all to our servers, i will give those “androidfilehost” links under the article too. But if you are a “custom rom” guy like me, you wont need those stock ROMs, flashing TWRP will be more then enough to go to second step after rescue (flashing a custom ROM).

STEP 2:

Let’s put our OnePlus’s into the Qualcomm HS-USB Qdloader 9008 /EDL mode. To do this, we will use the default key combination of Qualcomm for this : Phone is completely off> Press Volume “+” button> Plus the USB cable in (without pressing power button), thats all. Before that I presume that you have installed “Qualcomm QdLoader driver” on your system, if yes, your new device will be like in the picture, if not, please do it in this step and get ready for the next step.

opo_9008_logo

Our flasher will be “Msm8974DownloadTool.exe”, but I pictured here all the ROM folders, because I want you see some other files too and understand what we are doing here. “rawprogram0.xml”, “patch0.xml”, “prog_emmc_firehose_8974.mbn” and “MPRG8974.mbn”, these files are Qualcomm’s engineer files and cant be found in any rom than these kind of “service” roms. All the xml files can be regenerated but those mbn files not. They include vendor (maker) related model specific sign codes in it and cant be used on cross models. What I’m trying to explain here is — You have seen those files in your Xiaomi’s fastboot roms too, like in your Lenovo and ZUK’s Qfil ROMs, but like I said, you cant use Xiaomi Mi4’s “MPRG8974.mbn” to rescue an OnePlus One for example. They share same chipsets, Snapdragon 801’s but because of the different “signs” in them they just wont work, so dont loose time on this field. I know some users are..

opo_folder_logo

STEP 3:

Right click “Msm8974DownloadTool.exe” and run it as “administrator”, this flasher is in Chinese but does not matter we will only use 2 buttons on it. “Enum” to identfy our EDL ports and then “Start” to start the flashing. Here my port is on Com 28, dont get confused Windows’s com port number and this tool’s numbers — same port, different numbers.

Msm8974 Download Tool_enum_logo
Msm8974DownloadTool for OnePlus One

After you click on Start,  “8974_msimage.mbn” will be send to your phone and you will hear an usb unplug and plug sound from your cumputers. If this is your first time you will see this :

error_logo

An error on the Msm8974DownloadTool with red color (it says cant find the necessary port) and a new device under your device manager as “QHUSB_BULK”. Windows will automaticaly install drivers, just wait for a minute till you see your new port “Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 9006”. This port will be used to flash the rest of the files, its so called “EMMC” mode of the Qualcomm device.

9006_logo

STEP 4:

Lets close Msm8974DownloadTool first. Then press “power button” of the phone long enough while your are pressing Volume “+” button same time — this will reset Qualcomm 9006 port to 9008 again. Then, run Msm8974DownloadTool as administrator  and click “Start” again. Because our 9006 driver is now installed and you will see this :

download_start_logo

The tool will start to send rescue files to our bricked OnePlus’s. In this example, the whole Color OS 2.0 files including systemimg and userdata.img’s.

download_ok_logo

download_finish

After it finishes youll see our port line will become green saying its done.

STEP 5:

Our last step will be to press our phone’s power button long enough till it vibrates and wakes up back to life again. Remember, just put your phones in “fastboot” mode pressing Volume “+” button while powering on. Then download our “OnePLus Latest TWRP Recovery Package for all Models”.

Copy your OnePlus model’s TWRP.img to your “fastboot.exe” working folder and type:

“fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplus1.img” for OnePlus One

“fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-2-oneplus2.img” for OnePlus 2

“fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplus3.img” for OnePlus 3 and

“fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplusX.img” for OnePlus X of yours.

To boot into TWRP right away type :

“fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplus1.img” for OnePlus One

“fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-2-oneplus2.img” for OnePlus 2

“fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplus3.img” for OnePlus 3 and

“fastboot boot twrp-3.0.2-0-oneplusX.img” for OnePlus X

Your OnePlus will boot to TWRP recovery, just copy your desired stock or custom ROM from your PC to your phone and flash it. That’s all folks 🙂

ZUK Z2 Rio Edition (3GB+32GB): The Cheapest Snapdragon 820 Phone

zuk_z2_rio_4

If you are fan of 5″ smartphones, you already know about the ZUK Z2. With its powerfull specs and elegant design, Z2 already became very popular among users and has many fan sites in a short time after it was released 2 months ago. With its $299 price tag it was already the cheapest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 powered device and was strongest contender of Xiaomi Mi5 and LeEco Le Max 2 in this price range. Then we saw price cut of Le Max 2, being sold under $300, and now ZUK Z2 took this place, again, with the brand new Rio edition.

Specs are the same with ZUK Z2, except for RAM and ROM configuration which has been reduced to 3GB and 32GB. The original ZUK Z2 has 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. Even the clock speed of the Snapdragon 820 stayed the same, 2.15GHz, not an underclocked version like we saw in Xiaomi Mi5’s 3GB/32GB version as 1.8GHz  ($329).

zuk_z2_rio_5

ZUK Z2 Rio Edition specifications

  • 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD LTPS 2.5D curved glass display
  • 2.15GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 820 processor with Adreno 530 GPU
  • 3GB RAM with 32GB internal storage
  • Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) with ZUI 2.0
  • 13MP rear camera with LED Flash, f/ 2.2, 5P lens, ISOCELL sensor, PDAF, CAF dual-mode focus, EIS
  • 8MP front-facing camera with 1.4μm pixel size, f/2.0 aperture, 78.9-degree wide viewing angle
  • Dual (nano) SIMs
  • Fingerprint scanner
  • Dimensions: 141.65×68.88×8.45mm; Weight: 149g
  • 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (2.4/5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, USB 2.0 Type-C
  • 3500mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0

Oh yes the price, only 1599 Yuan, $240 for this power house ! However if Chinese customers choose to order through selected online stores they will receive a 100 Yuan price cut making the phone just 1499 Yuan ($224) starting August 2.

That’s insane price for a Snapdragon 820 flagship!

POLL: What do you think of Xiaomi’s NO LOGO design on the Mi Notebook Air?

Xiaomi recently announced two new laptops in the Mi Notebook Air lineup. Both are super thin laptops, weighs just over 1 kg and comes with Windows 10 OS on board. This is the company’s first laptop series in the market and while Xiaomi has made sure that the two models looks elegant and compact, it decided that the front of the laptop should be logo-less. The only major area where we see Xiaomi’s branding on this laptop is just below the screen, where there is the “Mi” logo.

Xiaomi Notebook Real Images (1)

This is a bold move by the company, since most laptop companies like to leave their branding on their laptops, especially on top, to distinguish it from competitors. Mibook Air 12.5-inch

Well, you can customize the looks of the laptop however you want, and the logo less design on the front actually makes things easier to redesign. But I was wondering what you feel about this logo less design?

Naturally, being the first Xiaomi laptop in the market, everybody is interested to see the new device in real life. While we have not yet received a model for review, here are a few images of the Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inch in action.

To recap, the Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inch comes in an all metal design with silver and gold color options, no logo on top and a lightweight 1.28 kg body. Specs wise, the laptop comes with a 13.3 inches 1080p display with anti-glare coating, Intel Core i5 6200U processor, NVIDIA GeForce 940MX 1GB DDR5, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 265GB SSD ( which is further expandable), dual speakers from AKG,  and Windows 10 home edition. Further, the screen covers 80.1% of the front, which makes it look amazing.

As for the pricing, this particular version costs 4999 Yuan in China, which comes to around $750.

So, here are some real life images of the Mi Notebook Air 13.3-inch. Enjoy!

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 & Mi Smartwatch still launching August, reaffirms Analyst

Aside from releasing the Redmi Pro and Mi Notebook laptop in July, Xiaomi was rumored to be working towards the release of another flagship under the Mi series, believed to be Mi Note 2. The Mi Note 2 flagship was rumored to launch in August and the specs the Mi flagship will feature had also been leaked previously.

Apart from the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, a new smartwatch is expected to be released by the Chinese company whuch is in line with statements credited to Xiaomi co-founder Liwan Jiang who hinted that Xiaomi is planning to release two high-end products in August. Industry analyst Pan Jiutang had previously hinted that a Xiaomi conference will be held in August where the Mi Note 2 is expected to be released.

However, considering that Xiaomi just concluded its July 27 conference, many Weibo users are pessimistic about the possiblity of another news conference holding in August. They are of the opinion that the company may delay the release due to the short time interval.

But industry analyst, Pan Jiutang still thinks the Mi Note 2 would pop in August, in line with production plan. Mr Jiutang also revealed some expected specs of the flagship Mi Note 2, saying the device will be the first from Xiaomi to sport the latest Snapdragon 821 processor, would have more than one version, with perhaps curved and straight display screen versions. Q2 2016 Chinese Smartphone Sales Ranking: Huawei Right On Top, Xiaomi In Fourth

We know Huawei, OPPO and Vivo are all having a good time, selling millions of smartphones in China in 2016. Now, IHS Analyst, Kevin Wang has just revealed the ranking of the top Chinese smartphone manufacturers based on sales in Q2 2016. The list comes with no surprises, as Huawei is still leading the pack of Chinese companies, having sold well over 32 million phones during this period.

smartphone sales ranking q2 2016

In the second place is OPPO, who has managed to surprise us all this year with massive marketing campaigns and selling nearly 22 million phones in the second quarter. Vivo is behind OPPO, filling in the third place selling 16.41 million phones. Xiaomi, who is often reffered to as Apple of China takes the fourth spot selling 15.22 million units in the same period. In the fifth place is ZTE with 13.70 million units, followed by Lenovo at sixth position with 11.12 million units, TCL at seventh place with 7.40 million units and finally, at eight place is LeEco, having sold 5.83 million units during the same period.

redmi pro official

Things could be different in the next couple of quarters of the year, since Xiaomi just released its premium Redmi Pro model this week, and soon we will meet top end phones like the Mi Note 2 and Mi 5S. So, Xiaomi could be aiming to jump a couple of places in the ranking in the coming quarters with its new high-end offerings. Meanwhile, we are still not sure what OPPO and Vivo has in store for the following quarters. OPPO seems to be preparing for the launch of the OPPO F1S in the first week of August, however, details about the phone are scarce at the moment.

As for Huawei, we can expect to meet the Mi Max killer, the Huawei Honor Note 8 phablet on August 1. The new release along with existing models like the Honor 8 should ensure ample sales for the company in the coming quarters as well. Further, the company’s flagship device is said to be launching in India in the third week of August.

Alleged Meizu Smartwatch Images Leaked, could be released August 10

What could likely be photos of Meizu’s first smartwatch product has appeared in photos online, just moments after a box purportedly mean’t for the smartwatch was leaked from an anonymous source. The box, which is likely the retail pack for the smartwatch contained Meizu’s logo stamped on the box.

meizu-smartwatch-524x1024

The leaked photos alleged to be those of Meizu’s smartwatch reveals what looks like a wonderful design from Meizu.  The design adopts a circular pattern, just like the shape of most of the normal wristwatches around but this time around with additional features.

The features the Meizu smartwatch would pack is still unknown but the photos gave us an insight that the smartwatch would likely pop with customised wallpapers, leather straps and there are three controls buttons which would likely be for the features.

Earlier, rumours had it that the Meizu wearable device will come powered by a Rockchip RK6321 SoC with two Cortex A5 cores, which makes it highly probable that the Meizu watch won’t run Android Wear, which strictly employs Qualcomm chips.

Since we can’t verify the authenticity of these pictures, make sure you take it with a pinch of salt. These images could probably be fan made.

Meizu has already sent out invites to a August 10 event, and with the company already out with its Meizu MX6 smartphone recently, we could just get to see the Meizu smartwatch unveiled on that day.

First LeEco & Coolpad Collaboration Smartphone Leaked With Dual Cameras

We recently reported that LeEco has bought a major stake in the Chineses smartphone company, Coolpad. Later, the companies started sending out teasers saying that something cool was coming soon. Naturally, we expected it to be a smartphone, however, up till now, we had very little details about the upcoming phone.

However, today, the new LeEco + Coolpad phone seems to have leaked online revealing the back. So, what can we take from this image? It looks like the new phone will come with dual cameras at the back. Not so surprising since Xiaomi just released the Redmi Pro with dual 13MP + 5MP cameras, and LeEco + Coolpad wouldn’t want to lag behind. Further, the phone will come in an all metal body, with the fingerprint sensor located at the back, just below the camera setup.

The new collaboration seems to focus on the high-end market though, unlike Xiaomi’s Redmi model. It is rumored that the upcoming device will feature a 5.5-inch display with 2K resolution, Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. Apart from the dual cameras at the back that we mentioned above, the phone is said to come with a decent 3500mAh battery as well. And yes, it is said that the phone will come with dual UI options, so you can either run EUI or Cool UI.

While we know that the new phone will meet us soon, we can’t be sure of the authenticity of this leak. So, make sure you take this news with a pinch of salt. We hope that the phone will hit the TENAA certification website sometime soon which will confirm most of the specs on the new model.

Meizu Pro 7 in the Works: Will not use Exynos 8890 chipset Says New Leak

Meizu’s Vice President, Li Nan has reportedly revealed that plans are in top gear to produce what would likely be Meizu’s next generation flagship for 2017. The news is coming just days after the Chinese company released its 2016 Meizu MX6 flagship with amazing features.

Mr. Nan seems to have made the disclosure in a conversation earlier today and also hinted that the Pro 7 will sport a better processor, different from Samsung’s Exynos 8890 featured on earlier Meizu version from the Pro 5 down. The Meizu Pro 6 announced in May this year did not feature the Exynos 8890 chipset but rather came with the high-end MediaTek Helio X25 chip.  The new chipset is reputed to be faster and stronger.

Also, the Vice President further disclosed that the new processor will support all networks, unlike the Exynos 8890 on earlier Meizu phones which only supports some network bands in China.

Since we saw the Pro 6 just a few months back, expect the Pro 7 to be announced only by next year.

Analyst: Xiaomi’s Mi 5s and Mi Note 2 to Cost More

An industry analyst, Pan Jiutang has said the Mi 5s and Mi Note 2 will follow the trend of the newly released Redmi Pro and have higher prices than their predecessors.

Mi5S price analyst

The Redmi series is known for its low price tag but that has changed with the release of the Redmi Pro which has a starting price of 1499 Yuan ($224) and goes up to 1999 Yuan ($299), setting the record for the most expensive Redmi phone. But that shouldn’t come as a surprise since the Redmi Pro is sporting a number of new features the company hasn’t put on a phone before, such as  the use of dual rear cameras and an OLED display.

The Mi 5s is reported to also launch with dual cameras. It will have a glass body, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and an advanced pressure sensitive display. The Mi Note 2 on the other hand will feature a snapdragon 821 SoC and an advanced pressure sensitive 2K display as well but with a curved edge. These new features will definitely see them having higher price tags but which are still competitive enough for them to give the competition a run for their money.

Galaxy Note 7 TV Ad Confirms Features

Samsung Mobile Korea has released the first Galaxy Note 7 TV ad. The advert which is just 30 seconds long confirms a couple of features like multiple phone lock options such as fingerprint and the regular pattern lock. The advert teases other features such as multiple old rotary dial telephones submerged in water which indicates the Note 7 will be waterproof (a first for the Note series), allowing the phone to be immersed in up to 5-feet of water for a duration of 30 minutes.

There is also a lady holding a blurred out phone in one hand (which is probably the Note 7) trying to take a selfie while holding a light bulb to her face with the other hand. This translates into the Note 7 featuring a LED flash in front.

Another teaser is the presence of multiple highlighter pens used on different texts. We interpret this to mean that you will be able to copy multiple texts with the Note’s S-pen and choose which you want to paste when you want. So that eliminates the issue of a new copied text overwriting the previous one.
