Xiaomi has officially announced the arrival of a new walkie-talkie device under the MIJIA brand. The Xiaomi MIJIA Walkie Talkie 1S, as it is called, takes over from the Mijia Walkie-Talkie that was launched in March last year. The first-gen MIJIA Walkie-Talkie was well received when it went on sale and even cornered the Good Design Award for 2017 for its sleek quality build. The device was available in white and blue and boasts of up to 8 days standby time.

The new MIJIA Walkie-Talkie 1S comes with a lighter and thinner design and the performance is more powerful. It is also portable and now comes with a clip at the back. It also comes with a 3W transmission power which means the range is extended. This model offers up to 5 days long standby time. Just like the first-gen walkie-talkie, it also comes with FM Radio so apart from communication, you also get entertained. It supports azimuth sharing.

The MIJIA Walkie-Talkie will go on sale on October 16 simultaneous on Mi Mall, Mi Home, Jingdong (JD.com), Tmall, Suning and other channels. It is also available in White and Blue colours.

Just as we reported, HMD Global didn’t announce the Nokia 7.1 Plus yesterday, instead, we got the Nokia 3.1 Plus. However, there is one more Nokia event holding in China on October 16 and there is a high chance the Nokia X7 (Nokia 7.1 Plus) will be announced there.

HMD Global has sent out a series of invites that reveal details such as the venue and time of the launch. They have also released a bunch of posters that tease some features of the phone.

The invite says the event is for a new Nokia phone among their 2018 Autumn release. It will hold at the popular jazz club, Blue Note, which is located at No. 23, East Qianmen Street, Beijing. The event will begin at 1600hrs local time.

The teaser poster, on the other hand, confirm the phone will have a Snapdragon processor, an AI camera features with automatic scene detection, stereo speakers at the bottom, and a USB Type-C port. Don’t be bothered about the lack of an audio jack at the bottom of the phone, it is most likely at the top of the phone just like the Nokia 7 Plus.

ZTE has finally revealed the pricing and release date for the Axon 9 Pro for the Chinese market. The device will be on sale at 10 AM on October 16 and will have a price of 3,999 yuan ($578). Interestingly, the price tag is for the topmost 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.

The AXON 9 Pro features a 6.21-inch notch screen design with a resolution of 2248×1080pixels with a screen aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The premium design includes a glass back panel. The device is equipped with a vertical dual rear camera setup as well as a rear fingerprint sensor. The device packs a Snapdragon 845 chipset and is available in 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant.

As stated earlier, there is equally an 8GB + 256GB storage variant which is on reservation on ZTE Mall. The 3999 yuan ($578) price tag is dope for an 8GB RAM device teaming up with 256GB of storage. This is even cheaper than the price of the 6GB+128GB variant which comes with a price tag of 649 euros (~$757, 5201 yuan) in Europe. Unfortunately, this super price tag will only be available in China. Hopefully, the device will also hit India with a competitive price tag.

POCO F1 coming to Offline Mi Home Stores from October 13, Will be Slightly Costlier

POCO F1 is one of the cheapest Snapdragon 845 smartphone that you can find in the market right now and starting tomorrow, the phone will be a lot easier to purchase for customers. POCO India has just announced that their flagship will be available to purchase across Mi Home stores in India starting tomorrow. Apart from the Mi Home stores, the POCO F1 is also going to be available via Xiaomi’s offline partner stores starting Wednesday, October 17.

This move was expected since the POCO F1 recently went on open sale via Mi.com as well as Flipkart.com. As the POCO F1 stocks have become relatively stable, it makes sense for the company to make the phone available to offline customers too, which still account for a major chunk of the Indian smartphone market.

Note that POCO F1 will be slightly costlier in offline stores. We don’t have an official figure yet but the slight increase in price is to offset the additional operational costs incurred in retail stores. The company has also not revealed whether all the variants and colors will be up for sale via its Mi Store. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow for more details.

Chinese iPhone users’ Apple IDs compromised in a game scam

Apple iPhones are considered as the most secure and safest smartphones, but still, some loopholes can trick users into a scam. Similarly, in a recent event that has happened with the iPhone users in China, hackers compromised their Apple IDs. Some iPhone users are complaining about unauthorized purchases of thousand dollars being made on the Apple App Store.

These unauthorized purchases are generated from game apps in China. From past one month, many users have complained regarding these kinds of thefts. A man in the southeast China got hit with the bill of 3000 Yuan (~$432) after his Apple ID was used to buy several games. Even, a college-going student Li got duped of 648 Yuan (~$93) with her new Apple ID. Here’s the response she received from support, “Apple’s customer service said they can do nothing about it.” Surprisingly, Apple authorities denied any refund for some users.

Currently, there’s no concrete information about how the whole scam is working, but it’s expected to be originated from easy pay code scans. In an official statement, Apple said that affected accounts might have exposed when they scanned scam Quick Response (QR) Codes.

Apple has conveyed a message to users to shut the function as soon as possible and use passcodes to authenticate payments.

Overall, around 700 people have been affected and only a few have received the refunds. Others are still waiting or got denied for any reimbursements.

Apple ID is an important part of the iOS ecosystem, it is used to authenticate a person’s identity and is used while purchasing apps, and for using various iPhone services.

We think Apple should alleviate these frauds by adding some more authentication steps. Even users should be aware of these kinds of scams and use precautionary methods while performing any payment request.

Samsung W2019 images appear on TENAA to reveal design

Samsung had launched W2018 Android flip phone with flagship specs last year in December. Recent reports have revealed that the South Korean company is prepping up to launch W2019 flip phone by the end of this year. The W2019 that has a model number of SM-W2019 was recently spotted on the website of WFA Alliance. Today, the images of the phone have appeared on TENAA which indicates that its arrival is getting closer.

The TENAA images showcases the flip phone design of the Samsung W2019. The above image shows the front and rear sides of the smartphone. The front side of the W2019 features its main display. The back panel of the phone is equipped with a horizontal dual camera setup along with its LED flash. The W2018 smartphone features a single camera on its rear.

Flip opening the smartphone reveals its second display. Above the internal screen is an earpiece and a selfie camera. The other half features a directional pad and a numeric keypad. The overall design of the phone is not very different from its predecessor.

Previous reports have claimed that the Samsung SM-W2019 is codenamed as Lykan. The W2019 flip phone has bagged couple of certifications in the past few days. It has been certified by MIIT (first spotted by MySmartPrice) in China and its images have also surfaced on TENAA. According to another website, the handset has also bagged Bluetooth SIG approval. The Bluetooth approval of W2019 has revealed that it is equipped with Bluetooth 4.2.

The Samsung W2018 from last year is powered by Snapdragon 835 and 6 GB of RAM. Rumors surrounding the Samsung W2019 claim that it could be equipped with Snapdragon 845. Now that the South Korean company has launched two smartphones such as the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy A9 (2018) with 8 GB of RAM, it is likely that the upcoming Samsung W2019 may also arrive in 8 GB RAM edition.

Meizu to launch five new products including Meizu 16th and Meizu C9 in Indonesia

Meizu makes really great phones but one of the biggest complaints people have is how a lot of their products are not officially released outside China unlike its competitors Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo etc. This wasn’t always the case but it appears it is planning on making its way back to one of its old markets – Indonesia.

Meizu’s digital marketing manager Pipit Sri Puspita, said they will be launching five new products next week. These new products include three phones and two earphones. The phones are the flagship Meizu 16th which will be priced above Rp. 6 million, the Meizu M6T expected to sell for under Rp. 2 million, and a new entry-level phone called the Meizu C9. The Meizu C9 is expected to be priced under Rp. 1.5 million.

For the earphones, Meizu will launch the EP52 Lite. It was first announced alongside the Meizu X8, Meizu V8 duo, and Meizu 16X last month. It will also launch the Meizu POP wireless earbuds. There is no info on the expected retail price tags for both earphones yet.

Xiaomi‘s popularity in India continues to soar and that is evident in the ongoing Big Billion Days promo on Flipkart, Amazon’s Great India sales and mi.com’s Mi Super Sale. Well-known industry expert Roland Quandt has shared plenty of details of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro that is scheduled to go official in the coming week. The handset will be arriving with several exciting features such as high-resolution OLED display, under-display fingerprint scanner, powerful chipset and triple rear cameras.

Huawei Mate 20 Pro Specifications and Features

The Mate 20 Pro will be arriving with an OLED display of 6.39 inches. The notched will carry support for Quad HD+ resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels. The display will be slightly rounded at the sides. As mentioned, the display of the Mate 20 Pro will be embedded with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The Mate 20 Pro will be equipped with a memory card slot. However, it won’t support microSD card. The handset will carry support for the all new and smaller nanoSD cards of up to 256 GB. Xiaomi Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone’s leaked video shows RGB lighting effects

Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched Black Shark gaming phone as an affordable alternative to the Razer Phone. After Razer announced its second-generation gaming smartphone — Razer Phone 2, Xiaomi is now working on its second-generation gaming phone, dubbed as Black Shark 2.

A couple of the weeks ago, the phone appeared on TENAA, revealing key specifications. Now, a video of the phone has leaked online, which reveals the phone’s design and shows off the cool lighting effects on the device.

The video shows that the phone will come with two light-up bars on each side of the frame, left and right, just below the power button and volume rocker. The leaked video shows breathing lighting effect on the bars, which synchronises with the Black Shark branding on the back.

It also shows that the phone will come with a dual-camera setup on the back and will be placed in the top-center position, same as the original Black Shark phone. Unlike its predecessor, the Black Shark 2 will come with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The TENAA listing of the the upcoming Black Shark 2 reveals that the phone carries model number AWM-A0. It will feature a 5.99-inch 18:9 display with 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution,DCI-P3 and colour gamut of up to 97 percent. It seems unlikely that the company will offer 120Hz refresh rate similar to what Razer offers on its new gaming phone.

Motorola releases Android 8.1 Oreo kernel source for Moto G5

Motorola always remained a little late in providing the kernel source code for their devices. After, Moto G5 Plus, now Moto G5 kernel source code of Android 8.1 Oreo build is available. So, if you’re the developer of custom ROMs and recoveries, then you can start cooking tweaks for Moto G5. Developers can get the Android 8.1 Oreo-based kernel source code from GitHub for Moto G5 codenamed ‘Cedric.’

Last month, Motorola released Android 8.1 Oreo source code for Moto G5 Plus. Now, the users of Moto G5 series can expect support for TWRP recovery, custom ROMs, custom ROMs, and custom Kernels. Vivo Z3 October 17 launch confirmed; Arriving with Snapdragon 710, Dual Turbo Technology

Vivo has released a new launch poster on its Weibo account to confirm that it will be launching the Vivo Z3 smartphone in China on Oct. 17. The handset is already up for reservations on TMall. The Vivo Z3 reservations page on TMall only confirms the name of the smartphone but does not contain any information on its specs.

The launch poster that confirms the October 17 arrival date for the Vivo Z3 reveals that it will be fueled by Snapdragon 710 chipset. The handset will be also equipped with Dual Turbo technology that was first introduced on the Vivo X23 phone few months ago. The Dual Turbo technology comprises of two things, namely System Turbo and Game Turbo. The former enhances the system performance to load apps faster whereas the latter is responsible for assigning more resources for stutter-free gaming experience.

As far as other specs of the Vivo Z3 are concerned, it is expected to feature a waterdrop notch display of 6.3 inches that may carry support for Full HD+ pixels resolution. The Snapdragon 710 SoC of the phone could be coupled with 4 GB of RAM. It may feature an internal storage of 64 GB. The handset may include a 3,240mAh battery.

Microsoft foldable Surface phone patent hints at single flexible screen rather than different panels

In a recent patent published by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), we got a look at Surface phone’s design aspects. Initially, Microsoft applied for the patent in July 2017, and a few days back it has been approved for use. The new patent entitled “Hinged Device” puts some light on the design of the upcoming foldable Surface phone. As per the patent, it is confirmed that the Surface phone won’t feature different screens. Instead, it will be followed by a single flexible display.

There will be a single flexible screen that will hook in the panel that folds inward with a “deployable bridge support.” It would result in various benefits for the end users as it will bring non-distorted experience to users. There will be no line that will separate the display and make it difficult for users to write on with a stylus. It brings some more additional benefits such as better viewing angle, read, write and edit text without any distraction of a physical dividing line.

OPPO R15X full specs and pricing leaked through China Telecom website listing

TENAA had recently certified three OPPO phones with model numbers PBCT10, PBCM10 and PBCM30. The TENAA listings of these phones had revealed that they were equipped with in-display fingerprint scanner and carried similar specs. The PBCM30 model number belongs to the newly unveiled OPPO K1 smartphone. A new smartphone named OPPO R15X has been listed along with its specifications and pricing on the website of China Telecom. The listing confirms that the OPPO R15X has a model number of PBCM10.

The China Telecom website listing states that the OPPO R15X exists in two variants. The base model that is priced at 2,499 Yuan (~$362) features 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It comes in two colors such as Nebula Gradient and Ice Silver. The higher model carries a pricing of 2,599 Yuan (~$376) and it includes 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. The 6 GB RAM variant of the OPPO R15X comes in a single color edition of Ice Silver.

The specs sheet of the OPPO R15X reveals that it measures 158.3 x 75.5 x 7.4mm and weighs 156 grams. The handset features a waterdrop notch enabled AMOLED screen of 6.4 inches and it carries support for Full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The handset is packed with a 3,500mAh battery and it is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS. For additional storage, the handset features a microSD card slot.

Razer Phone 2 getting transparent color option soon

Yesterday, Razer announced its second edition of the gaming smartphone, Razer Phone 2. It packs some good upgrades over its predecessor with similar pricing. Razer has made it available with the “Razer Chroma RGB logo” for customisable RGB lighting. It’s available only in a couple of colour options. In order to give users more options to choose, Razer will be introducing a clear glass back variant of the device very soon.

Razer’s design will beautifully fit into the transparent module showing its rugged and functional design. It’s not a new thing, Xiaomi (Mi 8 EE) and HTC (HTC U12+) already have devices featuring a transparent back. In the year 2015, famous YouTuber JerryRig peeled off colour from glass-backed phones gathering a good reception. Later, with popularity, OEMs started producing devices with transparent designs.

The transparent Razer Phone 2 will give users an extraordinary look of internals with the RGB Led lighting. We hope it will make a special place among the fans of the Razer gaming smartphones.

Meizu X8 to release in market on October 15

Last month, Meizu had introduced smartphones like Meizu 16X, Meizu X8, Meizu V8 and Meizu V8 Pro smartphones in China. Except for the Meizu X8, the other smartphones are available for purchase in the home country. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that the Meizu X8 will be available for buying starting from Oct. 15.

From 10:00 AM on Oct. 15, the Meizu X8 will be available for purchase through Meizu’s official website and Meizu’s official online store. And from Nov. 1, other Chinese retailers like Tmall, JD, Suning Tesco and so on will begin the sales of the Meizu X8.

The starting variant of the Meizu X8 that costs 1,598 Yuan (~$232) features 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of inbuilt storage. The model that is priced at 1,798 Yuan (~$260) has 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage. The highest configuration edition of the Meizu X8 includes 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It carries a pricing of 1,998 Yuan (~$290).

What’s interesting about the Meizu X8 smartphone is that it is the first phone from Meizu with notched display. It is fitted with a 6.2-inch IPS LCD panel that produces Full HD+ resolution. Like the Meizu 16X, the Meizu X8 is also fueled by Snapdragon 710 chipset.

The rear side of the Meizu X8 features 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup followed by a fingerprint reader. The notch of the smartphone houses 20-megapixel selfie camera. It is packed with a 3,210mAh battery that is enabled with support for rapid charging.

The Meizu X8 seems to be a worthy competitor for the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE which also features Snapdragon 710 chipset and a notched screen.
