Samsung Galaxy J6, which received a price cut in August this year, has now received yet another price cut, making the smartphone even cheaper.

With the new price cut, the 3GB RAM model is now available for Rs. 12,490 (approximately $171) while the 4GB RAM model costs Rs. 13,990 (approx. $192). The price drop comes less than a month after the company launched the Galaxy J6 Plus in India.

The Samsung Galaxy J6 was first launched in India in July earlier this year. The 3GB RAM variant was launched in India for Rs. 13,990 (~$192) while the 4GB RAM model was introduced for Rs. 16,490 (~$226). However, as said, model models received a price cut in August.

The phone features a 5.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED display with thin bezels and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by the Samsung’s Exynos 7870 octa-core processor, along with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage.

The phone comes with a 13MP rear-facing camera and an 8MP front-facing camera for taking selfies and video calling. There’s also a fingerprint sensor placed on the back side for added security. Connectivity options on the device include Dual SIM card slots, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

In the software department, the handset runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system with Samsung Experience UI on top. The device is powered by a 3,000mAh battery that lacks fast charging support.

HMD Global sends out media invites for a launch event in India on October 11

HMD Global, the Finnish company behind the Nokia branded smartphones, has sent out media invites for a launch event scheduled to take place on 11th October in India.

While the company has not mentioned which device is plans to launch, it’s believed that HMD Global is planning to launch the Nokia 7.1 and the Nokia 7.1 Plus (aka Nokia X7) in the Indian market. It’s noteworthy that both the smartphones are expected to launch globally on 4th October.

The Nokia 7.1 Plus is rumoured to feature a notched display, just like the Nokia 5.1 Plus and the Nokia 6.1 Plus. On the other hand, the Nokia 7.1 is expected to come with a normal display, without any kind of notch.

The Nokia 7.1 could feature a 6-inch screen that will carry support for an aspect ratio of 18:9. It is rumoured to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 processor along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

It’s bigger variant, the Nokia 7.1 Plus, is also speculated to be driven by Snapdragon 710 12nm chipset, coupled with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. We are also expecting a bigger display and higher capacity battery for the Plus variant.

Both the smartphones will be a part of Google‘s Android One programme, and thus, there’s a possibility that the phones could be running the latest Android 9.0 Pie operating system out-of-the-box.

We’ll get more information about both the devices once they get launched on 4th October. For information related to the devices in the Indian market, we’ll have to wait till 11th October.

Huawei has officially announced its latest smartphone in its home market — Huawei Y9 2019. As the name itself suggests, the smartphone is the successor of the Huawei Y9 (2018) that was announced early this year.

The Huawei Y9 2019 will be available in three color options — Midnight Black, Blue Swarovski, and Aurora Purple. While the phone is expected to go on sale in China later this month, the company has not yet announced the pricing information.

LG V40 ThinQ render leak showcases the phone’s five camera setup

It’s already known that LG is all set to launch the LG V40 ThinQ smartphone, featuring a five camera setup. Now, ahead of the phone’s official launch, Evan Blass has shared LG V40 ThinQ’s renders through Twitter, which showcases the phone’s design and the placements of its five camera sensors.

On the back side, the phone features tripe-camera setup, which appears to have been placed horizontally along with an LED flash. Previously leaked renders have revealed that there’ll be a fingerprint sensor placed just below the camera sensors. Earlier leak suggests that the camera could comprise a 16MP primary sensor, a 12MP super wide-angle lens and an 8MP telephoto zoom lens.

Coming to the front side, there will be two camera sensors, possibly with a combination of an 8-megapixel sensor and a 5-megapixel sensor. Both the camera sensors will be housed inside a notch on top of the display. Among the two camera sensors, one is a standard lens while the other one is a wide-angle lens.

According to the reports, the LG V40 ThinQ will arrive with a 6.4-inch OLED screen offering a Quad HD+ screen resolution of 3120 x 1440 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device will be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor.

The base variant of the phone could come with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage while the top-end model could pack 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. The phone is also expected to pack 3,300mAh battery that will include support for rapid charging and wireless charging.

The LG V40 ThinQ is expected to launch in a few days, on 4th October, and could go on sale by the end of this month. Along with this phone, the company is also expected to launch LG Watch W7 in Aurora Black and Cloud Silver colors for around $250.

Lenovo’s foldable smartphone could debut in October

Leading smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung and Huawei are currently working on a foldable smartphone and it was a battle between the two of them for being the first to launch such a device. However, it seems that Lenovo could be the first company to launch a foldable smartphone.

The China-based company’s foldable smartphone, which made its first appearance as a concept at Lenovo Tech World Conference 2016, has been teased by the company. Lenovo shared a 10-second video of the foldable phone’s prototype version with a caption that reads – “We are just so terribly good. It’s time to show off. We’ll see you in October.”

The video teaser, which was posted on Lenovo’s official Weibo account, shows a working phone that has a foldable design. We can see that the device continues to recognise and allow touch input when it gets folded at around 80-degree angle. However, there are a couple of dark spots on the right edge of the display, probably due to wear and tear.

The post suggests that the company is all set to launch the foldable smartphone later this month. However, there is no further information available regarding this, apart from the Weibo post by the company.

If we are to believe reports related to Lenovo’s flexible smartphone concept from last year, then the phone will come with a 4.35-inch AMOLED display that can automatically change the smartphone mode or watch mode based on the usage. The phone also reportedly supports eSIM card, enabling free and easy switch to different network.

It’s not clear if the company is actually planning to launch the device later this month or just showcase it. Also, Lenovo hasn’t officially confirmed an event for October 2018 through any of its other social media channels.

Samsung‘s foldable smartphone, which is reportedly a part of the new Galaxy F-series, won’t feature Gorilla Glass “due to the its rigid nature.” The phone’s launch has been postponed from November this year but the exact launch date is still not known but it is being speculated that the phone could launch by the end of this year or at CES 2019.

Taiwanese electronics company Asus has denied any layoff reports that were circulated on some media channels few days ago. As per the rumored report, it was said that Asus is planning to axe half of its gaming department employees in China and Taiwan. Asus has responded to the rumors and clarified that they are not laying off the employees, instead, they are planning to reorganize the staff from the last month.

Asus has termed it as “erroneous reports” which claims that Asus is going for a layoff. They are planning to restructure the handset department, but the whole thing is still in talks, and nothing has happened on the ground. Further, they added that if anything like this happens, Asus will make a public announcement.

However, a few days ago there was a report from Apple daily which reported that two consecutive layoffs had taken place in Asus. It was said that 100 employees had been laid off and smartphones, laptops, and PCs departments have also been restructured. The layoffs are also done in the factories located in Shanghai and Chengdu, China.
