A Geekbench listing of Sony H8526 has been spotted by a Reddit user. The screenshot of the listing is now available on a Japanese tech site. What’s interesting about the listing is that the Sony H8526 has been spotted with the unannounced Snapdragon 855 SoC.
The Geekbench listing of H8526 has revealed that the handset has scored 3,033 points in the single-core test. Also, it has recorded an extraordinary score of 10,992 in the multi-core test. The H8526 has achieved such marvelous scores thanks to Snapdragon 855 and 8 GB of RAM. In fact, Sony H8526 seems to be the first phone from the company to feature 8 GB of RAM. The handset is preloaded with Android 9.0 P.
The Sony Xperia XZ2 series have model numbers from H81XX to H83XX. The recent leaks have revealed that the upcoming Xperia XZ3 has a model number of H84XX. The Sony H8256 handset features all the specs that are suitable for a 2019 Sony flagship. On the contrary, the presence of “H” at its beginning suggests that it could be a 2018 smartphone. Also, the Geekbench listing is not available on the benchmarking site. Hence, it seems that the listing could be fake. So, readers are advised to digest this report with a grain of salt.
Recent reports have revealed that Sony may debut the Xperia XZ3 smartphone at the upcoming IFA 2018. The handset is expected to borrow dual cameras and front camera from the Xperia XZ2 Premium that was made available in April. There is a possibility that the Xperia XZ3 Compact also arrive with the XZ3. It is also speculated that another premium smartphone named as Xperia XZ3 Pro or XZ3 Premium may debut before the end of this year.
This is the Elephone A4. It costs just about $110 but it has a full-screen display with the notch, nice design, and great build quality but… it doesn’t mean it’s a perfect phone. As always, stay tuned to the full Elephone A4 review to find out all the pros and cons.
The phone ships with all the usual stuff and some extras include a soft TPU case.
DESIGN
Design-wise, we are looking at a very nice and well-built phone. I like a shiny Stainless steel frame that just feels sturdy and the overall build quality is very good. A glass backplate and Stainless steel make the phone look more expensive than it is.
The display is pretty good for the price of the phone. It’s sharp and vibrant and outdoor visibility is decent. We have just a single camera system that I will talk a bit later. A side-mounted fingerprint reader is very accurate and fast, and it’s easy to reach. A face unlock feature kind of works but it’s unreliable, that;’s why I use the fingerprint reader.
Other features: the Elephone A4 has a 5MP selfie shooter and a hybrid sim card slot. However, there is no notification LED light, no headset jack, the device uses a micro USB port, instead of USB C. Finally, the loudspeaker quality is quite bad and the sound gets distorted at the highest volume settings. Here is an audio sample.
HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE
In terms of hardware, it may seem that the phone has pretty good specs for the price but it actually uses an underpowered Mediatek chipset. Also, I wish the phone had at least 32GB of internal storage.
I am disappointed with the overall gaming performance. There are quite a few skipped frames and stutter even while playing a 4-year-old Asphalt 8 on the highest graphics. You will also see quite a few skipped frames in other games like Asphalt extreme or shadow fight 3. In addition, the phone gets hot quickly, just after 5 mins of gaming.
USER INTERFACE
The phone runs on Android 8.1 out of the box but we have a custom Elephone skin built on top of it. That means that we have customized icons and a few added features. You can change the layout of navigation buttons and adjust other settings but in general, you get a pretty much stock android experie3nce.
The overall performance is underwhelming. There is quite a lot of stutter, many skipped frames and even lag while using the phone on the daily basis with many apps installed.
IMAGE QUALITY
The overall image quality is just terrible. The phone uses an 8MP shooter that is interpolated to 13MP. The pictures simply look bad even though I took them on a nice and sunny day. The situation becomes much worse in low light.
Selfies look bad too.
Video quality does not impress either but that’s the case with most of the budget phones.
As for connectivity, I found the call quality to be decent and signal reception is good. The GPS is quite accurate too. However, the phone does not have a gyroscope, meaning that it does not support 360 content.
BATTERY
In terms of battery life, you should be able to get about 5 hours of screen-on time on the daily basis which is a pretty standard result.
What is really frustrating is that you need to use a micro USB cable with a longer than usual connector for charging.
CONCLUSIONS
The Elephone A4 is a very nice-looking phone that has a good display but the looks sometimes can be deceiving.
I’m mostly disappointed with the bad overall performance. The phone just feels slow and laggy most of the time. In addition, gaming performance is below average, the phone gets hot quickly. Further, there is no notification LED light, you need to use a cable with a longer than usual micro USB connector and there is only 16GB of storage. Finally, cameras are just terrible.
Overall, I cannot recommend Elephone A4 even though it looks nice. There are plenty of other budget phones that are much better than this. For just a little bit more, you can get the Xiaomi Redmi 5. If you are on a tight budget, even the older generation phones like the Xiaomi Redmi 4 or Redmi 4a are better options than the Elephone A4.

Samsung SDI is the battery manufacturing arm of the electronics giant. It makes batteries for a wide range of products including phones, electric cars and bikes, vacuum cleaners, and power banks.
Samsung SDI has been working on foldable (or bendable) batteries for years now. About four years ago, a prototype flexible battery it made only had a capacity of 210mAh, which is way too small for a phone.
It appears they have been able to make larger foldable batteries. Industry insiders say the company will start mass production of the larger batteries this year. The new batteries are said to have capacities between 3,000mAh to 6,000mAh.
Recently, Vivo launched its Vivo NEX smartphones which come with a pop-up front-facing camera, which eliminates the need of a notch on the display to accommodate front-facing camera sensor. The front-facing camera module in the Vivo NEX series smartphones is designed in such as way that the camera pops-up or elevates whenever the user opens the camera app.
However, according to the reports, a bud related to the phone’s camera makes the front-facing camera of the Vivo NEX pop-up even when the user takes no such action. According to the report, this happens while opening a chat window on Telegram. Other users are also complaining about the same bug while using Tencent’s QQ browser and the Ctrip app.
A video of this bug has been posted by a user on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo, which shows that the front camera pops-up without any action from the user while using messaging app Telegram. When the user opens Telegram app and goes to New Message, and clicks on a contact to open up a new chat, the camera appears. It goes back into concealment once the user exits the application.
In a statement, Tencent says that while the QQ browser does prompt the selfie camera, it does not record anything. Tencent is blaming the Android’s camera APIs for this issue. It claims that the API is triggered because of the QR code scanning nature of the mobile browser. On the other hand, Vivo spokesperson says that the company has made its technical team aware of the issue and will soon follow up with an update.
The Vivo NEX series, which includes NEX S and NEX A, were recently launched in China in two color options — Diamond Black and Ruby Red. The high-end model with 8GB RAM is priced at 4,998 Yuan, which roughly converts to $780 while the mid-range device costs 4,498 Yuan (approximately $702). On the other hand, the cheapest variant with SD710 costs 3,898 Yuan which roughly converts to $609.
The smartphone is also set to launch in India on July 19th and Vivo has already sent out media invites for the same. However, it is not yet known if the company plans to launch all the variants of the Vivo NEX in India.
After LG and Huawei launched their first smartphones with dual cameras (Huawei P9 and LG G5),two camera setups became one of the main trends of the mobile devices sector. Back in March, Huawei unveiled the first smartphone with a triple camera setup and DxOMark said that smartphones with four cameras will soon become very common. Now, according to the latest news from Washington Post, Light is developing a smartphone with 9 cameras. In case you never head about Light: it is the brand which released the first computational camera with 16 sensors, called L16.

This camera is composed of sensors with different focal apertures which can be combined to shoot photos with resolutions up to 52 Megapixels. According to the manufacturer, its technology can make cameras shoot photos with resolutions of up to 64 MP. The multi-lens system is able to achieve good performance even with low-light conditions and it can apply depth effects thanks to several different sensors included. And these features are what we expect to see in the upcoming smartphone with 9 cameras. Light is currently developing the phone and it has also created a prototype with 5 to 9 lens with incredible zoom capabilities.
Given its high number of sensors, this phone may feature the strongest optical zoom ever seen in the mobile phones market. The phone is supposed to arrive within the end of this year with Android, but it is unlikely that it will have an affordable price tag. The computational camera Light L16 is actually available with a price tag of $1950. Unfortunately, we do not know anything about the hardware side of the upcoming device, but we know that making 9 cameras work together would require a lot of processing power. So, it is likely that this device will be either a flagship phone or an upper-midrange handset.

After teasing the Moto E5 Plus smartphone for about a week, Lenovo-owned Motorola has now confirmed that the Moto E5 Plus will be launched in India this month, i.e. July 2018. The Moto E5 series was originally unveiled in April this year, along with the sixth-generation Moto G-series smartphones.
Recently, the company had launched a couple of Moto G6-series smartphones in the Indian market, and now the Moto E5 Plus is the next smartphone from Motorola to debut in India. However, there is no sign of the Moto E5, which is speculated to launch at a later date.
The Moto E5 Plus features a 6-inch HD+ full-screen display with screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor along with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage.

An image of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 that surfaced in the previous week was found to be fake. The Mi MIX 3 is expected to debut in September this year as the Mi MIX 2 had arrived in the same month last year. Early rumors have suggested that the Mi MIX 3 may offer higher screen-to-body ratio than the predecessor and Mi MIX 2S by sporting slimmer bezels. Fresh renders of the alleged handset that have surfaced today reveals its expected design. The new renders reveal that the Mi MIX 3 may sport a pop-up front camera like the Vivo NEX.
In 2015, Xiaomi had filed for a patent for the front-facing camera. The patent revealed that Xiaomi may introduce a pop-up selfie camera technology that may rise and retract from the top edge of the phone when required. Xiaomi’s pop-up selfie camera technology also includes a LED-flash unit. The alleged Mi MIX 3 renders that have surfaced today includes the LED flash enabled pop-up camera.
The fresh renders also reveal that the screen of the phone is surrounded by ultra-thin bezels. Even the bottom bezel seems to be as thin as other bezels. The Mi MIX 2 has a selfie camera placed in the bottom bezel. If Xiaomi wants to offer more screen space on the Mi MIX 3, it may reduce the bottom bezel by removing the selfie camera. Hence, it may adopt the pop-up selfie camera technology that it filed in 2015.
The renders also reveal that the fingerprint scanner is not present on the rear panel that houses a vertical dual camera setup. There is a possibility that Xiaomi may also introduce its under-display fingerprint scanner technology on the Mi MIX 3.
There is no information available on the specifications of the upcoming Mi MIX 3. However, since the handset is pegged to arrive with flagship specifications, it could feature the Snapdragon 845 SoC.
What do you think about the above fan-created renders of the Mi MIX 3? Do you think that the real Mi MIX 3 may arrive with pop-up selfie snapper and under-display fingerprint sensor? Share us your views by posting your comments below.

The Huawei GPU Turbo technology is a hardware-software integrated graphics processing acceleration technology that can enhance the overall efficiency of graphics on a smartphone. It can bring significant improvements to the image processing performance on low-end and mid-range smartphones.
Since the failure of Windows-powered phones, several patents and leaks hinted at the existence of a Microsoft Surface Phone. Even the Redmond giant implicitly confirmed its intention to come back in the mobile devices market multiple times. Now, new references to the upcoming phone appeared in a leaked email, a tweet by Panos Panay and even some APIs in the latest Windows 10 preview. Starting from the APIs: they refer to applications which can adapt their user interface and features depending on the position of the hinge. According to the code found, there will be five modes: closed, concave, convex, flat and full.
This confirms the existence of a foldable device, and according to the latest patents and leaks, Microsoft Surface Phone will probably be a foldable device. The mail confirms that it will be a pocketable device, so there are no doubts it will be a phone-sized device. It will belong to a brand new category of devices fostering innovation, coming under the Andromeda project. A new revolution may be incoming, just as the first Surface convertible tablets. Note that Surface tablets have successfully created a new category of devices which many people are using instead of classic laptops because of their versatility.
Even Apple has copied Microsoft with its iPad Pro line-up supporting detachable keyboards and a stylus. Microsoft Surface Phone is also expected to come with stylus support: it would make it the only non-Samsung Galaxy Note device to support a pen for handwriting and drawing. Further, Panos Panay has published a tweet two days ago which implicitly hints at LG supplying the displays of the new foldable Microsoft Surface Phone. The post contains a caricature of Panos Panay made by LG and a hinged photo frame. Make your own conclusions.

Cubot has made quite a few phones over the time and the Cubot Power is one of the latest offerings. In fact, this is one of the most powerful budget phones the company has ever made. The key specs include 128GB of storage, 6GB of RAM and a massive 6000mAh battery and the phone costs just under $220. Learn more in the full Cubot Power Review.
The phone ships with some paperwork, USB cable, a power brick and a soft TPU case.
DESIGN
Cubot Power is a nice looking phone, the device feels nice in the hand and the overall build quality is pretty good. However, I wish it was made of more premium materials. For example, the frame feels quite solid but I think it is made of plastic, just like the glossy and cheap-looking backplate. The buttons are okay but they feel a bit cheap as they are made of plastic too.
The phone is a bit thick and heavy since it has a massive 6000mAh battery that lasts for a long time. The best result I could achieve was 13 hours of screen-on time and that involved taking a lot of pictures, using the maximum screen brightness setting a lot and so on. It takes about 1 h 40 mins to fully charge the battery with the supplied fast charger.
I found the display to be pretty nice overall and sunlight legibility is above average.
There is just a single camera system on the back but the phone uses a high-quality Samsung sensor. The fingerprint reader is quite accurate but as usual, there is a slight delay between unlocking and the time the display lights up.
Now a few features in a nutshell: the phone has a 13MP selfie shooter, LEd notification light, a headset jack, and a hybrid dual sim card slot. The loudspeaker quality is not really good. The sound is tinny and flat.
HARDWARE
A huge selling point of the Cubot Power is an impressive sheet of specifications.
In terms of gaming performance, it’s the usual case with the Helio p23 processors. It’s possible to play most of the 3D games but you should expect to see some skipped frames and a bit of stutter here and there. That’s the case with games like Asphalt extreme or Shadow Fight 3. If you play Pubg on medium graphics, you should expect to have quite a bit of lag and stutter.
USER INTERFACE
One of my favorite features of the Cubot Power is stock Android 8.1 user interface. There is no bloatware, no gimmicky features and most importantly, the overall performance is just great. The phone feels nice and smooth all the time even after installing quite a few apps. I’m really happy with a clean and fast user interface.
CAMERAS
I didn’t expect that but I am happy to say that the image quality is pretty good overall. I believe this is the best camera phone Cubot has ever made as the pictures usually come out nice and detailed and even dynamic range is handled well. Obviously, there is a bit too much visible noise in some of the shots etc but that’s nitpicking.
Low-light image quality is not the best but again, it’s surprisingly decent for a sub 200 dollar phone.
Selfies could look a bit sharper but they will do the trick for social media.

1080P video quality is quite good. However, there is no CAF and the footage is quite shaky.

1080p selfie video looks pretty good too and the sound recording quality is decent.
CONNECTIVITY
I didn’t have any issues in the connectivity department. The signal remained strong all the time and call quality is decent. Also, GPS is accurate to use. The phone has a gyroscope among other sensors.
CONCLUSIONS
Overall, Cubot Power is a pretty good budget phone. Even though it’ not perfect, it exceeded my expectations.
I like that the phone ships with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. I also enjoy stock Android user interface performance has been good. You also get excellent battery life and surprisingly good cameras for the price of the phone.
Now the shortcomings. The phone feels a bit plasticky even though the build quality is good. Also, the loudspeaker could be better and finally and you may see a few skipped frames and stutter in the latest 3D games.
At the end of the day, none of those budget phones is perfect but Cubot Power is a pretty solid phone as you get a lot of value for the price, despite a few shortcomings.
Given that we can do almost everything we do on a PC on a simple psmarthone, advanced users are always in demand for big displays. The Honor Note series is the line-up containing the biggest phablets of the Chinese company, but last year, there were no devices from this series launched in the market. Now, it looks like the company is planning to switch from the Note 8 to the Honor Note 10 directly as a photo leak has just revealed the existence of a new big Honor phablet.
Recently, we learned that Samsung supplied new panels to Huawei for a phablet. The panels had a size of 6.9 inches and the Super AMOLED technology. After this news, everyone thought the panels belong to the upcoming Huawei Mate 20 which will be probably launched in October. But according to leaks, a Honor device codenamed Ravel is coming with a 6.9-inch display, and that is probably the Honor Note 10. Further, Honor’s president has recently revealed on Weibo that the company is planning to release a bigger version of the Honor 10 that he has been using for a while.
Given that Honor Note 10 will probably be a bigger variant of the H10, we expect it to come with a flagship-level Kirin 970 SoC, an octa-core chipset by Huawei running at a max frequency of 2.4 GHz. It will also come with an 18:9 or 19:9 display. Its predecessor, the Honor Note 8 had a 6.6-inch panel in the classic 16:9 format with a Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Just like the upcoming device, even the Note 8 had a Super AMOLED display, and this makes the hypothesis even more reliable. It came with 4 GB of RAM and 32, 64 or 128 GB of internal storage depending on the chosen configuration, while on the back side it had a single 13 MP camera with a f/2.0 aperture and OIS.
Meizu will launch a new line-up of flagship phones in August: Meizu 16 and 16 Plus; but they will not be alone. Together with them, there will be the Meizu X8, a potential king of quality-price ratio. According to new declarations from the company’s founder and CEO Jack Wong, also known as Huang Zhang, the upcoming upper-midrange device will cost between 1500 and 2000 Yuan.
From what the founder said, the 1500 Yuan price tag is referred to the variant with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage, while the higher 2000 Yuan price tag refers to the version with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB ROM. 1500 Yuan roughly translates into $226/€194, while 2000 Yuan is equivalent to about $300 or €258. It is a killer price if we consider that Meizu X8 will be equipped with the Snapdragon 710 SoC by Qualcomm.
In case you don’t know, Snapdragon 710 is the first chipset from the new 7xx series and it is the most powerful one by Qualcomm if we exclude the 8xx series. So, it is an upper-midrange SoC superior to Snapdragon 660. Note that prices refer to the Chinese market, so expect an increase when Meizu X8 will launch in the global market. Meizu 16 and 16 Plus instead should be equipped with the Snapdragon 845 which is definitely the best Qualcomm processor.
