Redmi X leaked poster hints February 15 launch

The Redmi Note 7 is the first smartphone to go official after the Redmi brand was established as a separated brand. In the coming month, the Chinese manufacturer will be announcing the Redmi Note 7 Pro smartphone. A leaked poster of the Redmi X smartphone has surfaced on Weibo. The poster only reveals two things about the smartphone. First, it will come equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner and the second is that it will be announced on Feb. 15.

The Chinese text below the large-sized Redmi X translates to “national screen fingerprint scanner mobile phone.” There is no information available on the specifications of the smartphone. Redmi is reportedly working on a Snapdragon 855 mobile platform powered smartphone.

Could it be the Redmi X phone? There is no direct evidence to prove it. Since the leaked poster only highlights the in-screen fingerprint scanner feature than the performance prowess of the Redmi X, it does not seem to be a SD855 powered flagship phone. However, it could be a better phone than the Redmi Note 7 or Note 7 Pro that feature rear-mounted fingerprint scanners. The Snapdragon 660 chipset powers the Note 7 whereas the Note 7 Pro could be fueled by Snapdragon 710 chipset. Probably, the Snapdragon 710 could be the chipset that will power the Redmi X phone.

Redmi is yet to confirm on the existence of Redmi X phone. Hence, it is recommended to wait for newer reports to confirm whether such a really exists. Also, Redmi is yet to confirm a launch date for the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The smartphone will come equipped with 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor instead of the 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor found on the Note 7.

The Redmi Note 7 has a notched display of 6.3 inches. The Snapdragon 660 powers the phone with up to 6 GB of RAM. It comes with an internal storage of up to 64 GB. The MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie is available preinstalled on the device. The rear side of the phone features 48-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup. For shooting selfies, it has a selfie camera of 13-megapixel. It is packed with a 4,000mAh battery that is enabled with support for rapid charging through USB-C. Redmi is expected to debut the new 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage edition of the Note 7 with a price tag of 1,399 Yuan (~$203) later this week.

OnePlus 6T users complaining of sudden battery drain

It seems, nowadays OnePlus devices are running from some bad days. Recently, OnePlus 5/5T devices got bootloop issues after updating to Android 9.0 Pie. Now, OnePlus 6T users are complaining about a sudden battery drain inside their handsets. There are many different complaints that users have posted on the Reddit.

Some users have complained that they are having this issue for a couple of days. Their device’s battery has been cut off in half over the past few days. Users even troubleshooted their device using appropriate steps and guides, but nothing availed to respite. Mainly, users tried to enable background restrictions, clearing cache, updating phone to the latest build and a few other things.

While other user revealed that his total screen-on time has tremendously decreased from 6-7 hours to about 4 hours. Another user said that his OnePlus 6T is also suffering from heating problem along with sudden battery drain. Although in the end, some users managed to solve the issue by factory resetting their phone.

Overall, many users are reeling from similar kind of problems on OnePlus 6T. Despite the fact that it carries the largest battery of 3700 mAh capacity on any OnePlus device, the overall standby time has reduced significantly.

The reason is still unknown, but the users are continuously sharing their problems on Reddit. There might be some underlying issue that is causing such a battery discharge. We expect OnePlus to roll out an update fixing this battery bug. Xiaomi users want battery life to be a priority in the next MIUI 11 iteration

Xiaomi has once again revealed that MIUI research and development has commenced and was seeking the opinion of fans on what they expect from the new system. One of the respondents mentioned battery life and power saving as the two most important features he expects the new MIUI version to come with. That comment turned out to be a very popular one as it has generated over 11000 likes.

The popularity of the comment isn’t really much of a surprise as those are some of the most important considerations for most phone users. Most times, a new operating system version usually brings new features, some of which lead to quicker battery drain as a result of new tasks for the phone to handle. Other respondents mention features such as night mode, smarter OS, and features similar to iOS shortcuts among others.

Xiaomi had earlier hinted last year that its focus will be on real needs of users in the development of MIUI 11. The company further stated that the focus on MIUI 11 will not be on making a big difference in the user interface between MIUI 10 and MIUI 11. Instead, the design will be focused on the real needs of consumers. The rollout is still months away but we believe the next-gen custom ROM will bring impressive features.

Xiaomi President Lin Bin and CEO Lei Jun have constantly teasing the number “9120” on Weibo. The Weibo post by Xiaomi’s Product Director Tang Weng Thomas that reads “the year of 9102 will be Mi 9 (translated text)” has sparked to rumors that the Mi smartphone will be debuting on Feb. 19.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has been releasing hits new Weibo posts through an unknown Mi device which suggests that the company could be gearing up to introduce the Mi 9. Rumors have it that compared to previous years, the Mi 9 will be debuting earlier this year. At the same time, leaked Mi 9 teasers are now doing rounds on Weibo. The teasers do not neither reveal the exact launch date nor the February arrival of the Xiaomi Mi 9. However, the leaked posters do reveal the key features of the Xiaomi Mi 9.

The below posters show that the Xiaomi Mi 9 will be arriving with triple rear cameras. Also, it will be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint sensor. Earlier this month, Lei Jun had teased that the Mi 9 would be equipped with faster charging technology.

Previous leaks have revealed that the Xiaomi Mi 9 with 6.4-inch AMOLED display. The Snapdragon 855 will power the phone with up to 6 GB of RAM. It may include 3,500mAh battery. It may feature Sony IMX586 48-megapixel + 12-megapixel + 3D ToF lens equipped with triple camera setup and 24-megapixel frontal shooter.

The Feb. 19 date is just ahead of Samsung’s Feb. 20 unveil event that it will be using to announce the Galaxy S10 series. Some rumors claim that the South Korean company will also unleash its first foldable phone to the world. Samsung’s foldable phone may look like a conventional smartphone, but when opened like a book, its 7.3-inch inner display. There is a possibility that Xiaomi will debut its foldable phone on Feb. 19 before Samsung reveals its foldable device. Xiaomi’s foldable device has a unique dual-folding design which makes it possible to fold it from left and right sides. There is no confirmation on whether Xiaomi’s foldable device will be called Xiaomi Mi Dual Flex or Xioami Mi MIX Flex or will have some other name.

It remains to be seen whether Xiaomi introduces Mi 9 or its foldable phone on Feb. 19. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further teasers from the company to know more on Feb. 19 launch.

LG Mobile rumored to cease operations in the Philippines

LG has not confirmed anything but a company’s executive has dropped some beans on the latest developments. As per executive, LG will soon officially make an announcement regarding the current situation. If LG goes away officially, then the Filipino fans won’t be able to enjoy the latest phones from the company. They have to get it from a third party seller which will be a costly affair.

From past some months, LG’s mobile division has been struggling to churn out some profits. It is the only division of LG which is running negative. Now, these developments have cleared the surface from LG Mobile’s deteriorating financial condition.

Realme C1 2019 with 32GB internal storage launched in India, price starts at Rs. 7,499 ($105)

Realme teased its new smartphone launch a few days back and today, the company has finally launched the smartphone. Realme has launched a new variant of its entry-level Realme C1 smartphone, which now comes with larger internal storage capacity.

While the standard variant of the Realme C1 comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage, the 2019 edition comes with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The company has also announced another variant which packs 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

The phone has touted by the company as ‘Entertainment Ka Boss’ and will first go on sale in India through online marketplace Flipkart on 5th February. While the 2GB RAM variant is priced at Rs. 7,499 (~$105), the 3GB RAM model is priced at Rs. 8,499 (~$119). It will soon be available for purchase through offline channels as well.

Except for the internal storage, most of the phone’s specifications remains the same as the standard model. It features a 6.2-inch IPS LCD notched display that carries support for HD+ resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and offers 19:9 aspect ratio.

Under the hood, the device is powered by the modest Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset. The 2019 edition models come with either 2GB/3GB RAM and pack 32GB of internal storage. The phone is also equipped with a dedicated microSD card slot for expanding the storage capacity.

Coming to the camera department, the horizontally arranged dual rear camera on the backside of the Realme C1 features a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The notch of the smartphone houses a 5-megapixel AI driven selfie camera that also doubles up for AI facial recognition.

The usual connectivity features like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and micro-USB port are available on the smartphone. The phone runs ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system and is powered by a 4,230mAh battery.

According to Lei Jun, many persons loath the rear fingerprint sensor and even the CEO doesn’t like it as well. Thus, the design of the Redmi Note7’s protective case adopts a design with several holes on the body in addition to the camera and fingerprint sensor opening. The design is meant to mask the fingerprint sensor. What they probably did not plan for is the beautiful design that it ended up with.

The protective case has an ultra-thin body that is just 0.8mm thick and made from PC material. It utilizes a unique mesh design which brings anti-slip and anti-skid features.

Nokia 6.1, 5.1 and 3.1 prices slashed in India

HMD Global had introduced the 2018 editions of the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 3.1 smartphones in India in the second quarter of 2018. The Nokia 6.1 (2018) was launched with a price tag of Rs. 16,999 for its 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM edition. Its higher model with 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM was launched for Rs. 18,999. The Nokia 5.1 was made available with a price tag of Rs. 12,999 while the entry-level Nokia 2.1 costed Rs. 9,999 at launch. These phones are now available with reduced prices on Amazon India.

There is no official confirmation yet on the new price cuts on the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 3.1 phones. On Amazon India, the 32 GB and 64 GB editions of the Nokia 6.1 are respectively priced at Rs. 13,989 (~$196) and Rs. 11,879 (~$165). Redmi could launch 128GB storage variant of Redmi Note 7 this week in China

Earlier this month, Redmi Note 7 smartphone was launched in China — the first device from Redmi after it split from the parent company Xiaomi to work independently. The phone comes with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage but it seems that 128GB storage variant is launching soon.

Recently, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun started a survey to know which is the most popular Redmi Note 7 variant. The poll also includes two unreleased models with 128GB internal storage — 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM. While the 4GB + 128GB model has been approved by TENAA, the 6GB + 128GB model emerged as a fan favorite.

Now, it seems that the company is all set to launch the 128GB storage model of Redmi Note 7 in China this week. It could launch either of the two — 4GB RAM + 128GB storage or 6GB RAM + 128GB storage. Previous reports indicate that the phones will be priced at 1,399 Yuan (~$206) and 1,599 Yuan (~$235) respectively.

Redmi Note 7 comes with a premium glass body and a massive screen-to-body ratio thanks to the waterdrop notch display. Huawei P30, P30 Pro and P30 Lite codenames could be Elle, Vogue and Marie Claire

Three new Huawei devices with model numbers such as VOG-L29, ELE-L29 and MAR-LX1M have been certified by the Eurasian Economic Commission in Russia. In the past, EEC listings for Huawei phones had always carried their product names. However, the names of the aforementioned Huawei models haven’t appeared on EEC. A Russian tech publication claims that these could be the codenames of the upcoming Huawei P30 and these names could be based on fashion magazines. Hence, it is speculated that the P30, P30 Pro and P30 Lite could be codenamed as Elle, Vogue and Marie Claire.

In December, an Israeli tech journalist had claimed had shared the render of the Huawei P30 with triple rear cameras. He had claimed that the handset measures 148.7 x 70.6mm and he had also revealed that the P30 is codenamed as Elle. Hence, it appears that the Chinese manufacture could be using fashion magazine names as codenames for the Huawei P30, P30 Pro and P30 Pro Lite. An anonymous commenter on GSMArena had revealed Vogue as the codename for the upcoming flagship phone. Probably, the P30 Pro could be codenamed as Vogue. The MAR could be based on the Marie Claire fashion magazine, claims the Russian publication.

The above codenames have been deduced through unverified sources. Hence, it is advisable to take this report with a pinch of salt and wait for further reports for confirmed information.

The MAR-AL00/TL00 has already received certification from 3C body in China earlier this month. Apart from the fact that handset may carry support for 18W charging, there is no other information available on the device. If it is the P30 Lite smartphone, it could be fueled by the Kirin 710 chipset.

The P30 and P30 Pro are rumored to powered by Kirin 980 chipsets. They are expected to feature waterdrop OLED panels to carry support for in-display fingerprint scanner. Oppo to soon launch Oppo F11, F11 Pro and Oppo R17 Neo in India

Oppo’s upcoming mid-range smartphones — F11 Pro, which carries the model number CPH1969 was recently certified in Thailand by NBTC. The same device has also been certified by Indonesia’s TKDN along with another phone carrying model number CPH1909.

While the phone’s specifications and features are not yet known, a new report suggests that the company is gearing up to launch the Oppo F11 Pro as well as the Oppo F11 in the Indian market. Along with the Oppo F11-series phones, the company will also launch Oppo R17 Neo. However, no specific timeframe is known for the launch event.

It’s confirmed that the Oppo F11 and F11 Pro will be released by the end of March. According to the rumors, both the models are expected to feature an impressive 10x optical zoom with a triple-camera setup on the back. The company is expected to showcase its 10x optical zoom camera technology at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona next month.

OPPO’s patent hides the Punch Hole in the Icon; Could it be OPPO R19’s design?

OPPO has been consistently offering higher screen space on its R-series of smartphones. The OPPO R11 that was unveiled in June 2017 came with 16:9 display and its upgraded version R11s was launched with 18:9 screen later in the same year. OPPO switched to notched displays for the R15 series that were unveiled in Q1 last year. The R17 series launched later last year came with waterdrop notched screens. Hence, it is very likely that the upcoming R19 will either feature a punch-hole display like the Samsung Galaxy A8s or Honor View 20. Recently, OPPO had filed for two patents with title “Mobile phone with app icon interface” which is nothing but a punch-hole display with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The display design reveals the presence of a selfie camera on the top-left corner of the display. The camera app overlays the selfie camera and next it is four other apps. Swiping to the right of the camera will reveal those other apps, but the camera icon will always remain at the same place.

The rear design of the phone has antenna bands placed on the top and bottom edges of the back panel. A horizontal dual camera setup with LED flash is placed at the top-left of the rear shell. A fingerprint scanner is also available on the backside of the phone. The bottom edge of the phone has external speaker, a charging port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Will the upcoming OPPO R19 sport the new punch-hole display design? There is no concrete evidence available yet. A recent report had revealed that the company may use a notch-less screen like the OPPO Find X for the OPPO R19. The smartphone is speculated to be equipped with a pop-up selfie camera. Android Pie stable update rolls out to the Huawei Mate 9

Huawei has begun rolling out a stable Android Pie update to the Mate 9. The 2016 flagship was part of the devices confirmed for the beta program a few months ago. Now owners can check for the stable update on their device.

The update comes as EMUI 9.0.1.150 and brings a ton of new features to the phone. Apart from Android Pie’s own unique features, the update brings HiVision which is Huawei’s take on Google Lens which not only identifies objects or famous monuments but can also identify the number of calories in your food. HiVision also brings real-time translation to the phone.

There is also Huawei Share – a one-click wireless printing feature. With just the tap of a button, you can print documents from supported printers without the need of a cable or another device.

MWC 2019: Nokia 9 PureView launches February 24, brings along punch-hole Nokia 6.2/Nokia 8.1 Plus

HMD Global already confirmed it will be attending this year’s edition of Mobile World Congress. One of the phones we expect the Nokia licensee to unveil is the Nokia 9 PureView. Official posters have surfaced and they confirm the arrival of the flagship along with the manufacturer’s first phone with a punch-hole display said to be the Nokia 6.2 or Nokia 8.1 Plus.

MWC 2019 begins officially on the 25th of February and runs until the 28th but manufacturers usually schedule their launches a day or two before the show begins. HMD Global will be doing the same this year as the Nokia 9 PureView will be unveiled on Sunday 24th February based on the details on the poster.

We know it is the Nokia 9 launching on that day because the poster shows the multiple camera sensors of the phone. The Nokia 9 PureView will have five rear cameras though the poster shows just four.

The second poster shows the silhouette of a phone with a punch-hole camera on the left corner of the display. At the moment, there are two Nokia phones said to have this type of display. Popular leaker, OnLeaks shared 3D renders of a phone said to be the Nokia 8.1 Plus a few weeks ago. However, another leaker claims it is not the Nokia 8.1 Plus but the Nokia 6.2 a.k.a. Nokia 6 (2019).

The Nokia 6.2 is said to pack a 6.2-inch display, a Snapdragon 632 processor, 4GB/6GB of RAM, 16MP dual rear cameras with Carl Zeiss lens, and Nokia OZO Audio. The leaker, @Nokia_Leaks also said it will launch end of January or February.
