Moto E4, Moto E4 Plus to Feature Removable Battery with Full Metallic Chassis?

In the past week, the rumor mill had spilled a lot of information on the leaked specifications and images of Lenovo Moto E4 and E4 Plus smartphones. The rumor mill has consistently stated that the upcoming Motorola Moto E4 smartphones would be arriving with metal unibody chassis. Fresh photos suggest that the Moto E4 phones may come with replaceable batteries despite featuring full metallic chassis.

Moto E4 Plus

The below image seem to reveal the actual Moto E4 Plus as previous photos have seemed to carried images of its prototype or press renders. The top bezel of the phone has a selfie camera, an earpiece and a LED flash for the front shooter. A Moto logo is also present on the top bezel. The physical Home button on the chin device probably houses the fingerprint sensor.

The next shot shows the back panel of the phone. As previous leaked shots have revealed, the Moto E4 Plus in the new image also features a circular-shaped camera housing. Below it is the Moto batwing logo. The antenna lines at the top and bottom part of the rear panel are clearly visible. The lower part of the back panel has an external speaker grill. The topside of the phone seems to feature a 3.5mm audio jack.

The last photo shows that the rear panel of the phone is removable. Also, the battery is not present inside the battery compartment which clearly shows that its battery is removable. If the Moto E4 Plus will come with a replaceable battery, it is likely that the Moto E4 too will come with a removable battery. Rumors have it that the Moto E4 Plus will be packed with a mammoth 5,000mAh battery. There is a speculation that since the Moto E4 Plus has a removable back panel, it may not feature a full metallic chassis. It may have a polycarbonate body with metal-like appearance.

The SIM card tray and microSD card slot are also visible and they are not placed underneath the battery. The placement of the SIM card slot suggests that users will have to remove the battery in order to replace the SIM. At the bottom left, the external speaker can be seen.

The Moto E4 Plus is speculated to arrive with a 5.5-inch HD display and it will be driven by MediaTek MT6737M chipset. Other specs include 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front-camera, fingerprint reader, and Android 7.1 Nougat.

Nubia Z17 With Snapdragon 835 chip, 4GB RAM Appears on Geekbench

A new Nubia smartphone suspected to be the Nubia Z17 has appeared on. the pages of benchmarking website, GeekBench. The device came with the model number NX563J  and is surprisingly packing Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset inside it.

nubia z17

The listed device may not have been categorically named as Nubia Z17 but since Nubia just released the Z17 Mini, the next model that is expected is the Z17. Besides, the Z17 Mini did appear on TENAA with a similar NX569J model number. As you would have known by now, the MSM8998 is the Snapdragon 835 which is with an Octa-core CPU clocked at 1.90GHz in this case.

The processor is backed by 4GB of RAM which could possibly be the base variant considering the Z17 Mini had a higher variant with 6GB of RAM. The Nuba NX563J is also listed as running Android 7 Nougat out of the box. On the benchmark score, the device’s score is consistent with that of the Galaxy S8+ benchmark score. On the single core test, it had a score of 1853 points, while it scores 6379 points on the multi-core test.

Quite curiously, Nubia had teased the Nubia Z17 sometime back with a massive 5,000mAh battery, and a somewhat unlikely Helio P10 chip. The processor looks unlikely now that the Z17 Mini came out with a Snapdragon 652 and SD 653 chips. The Z17 can not feature a chip inferior to that of the Z17 Mini.

Huawei’s Official Response on P10, P10 Memory Issue Creates Uproar; Company Acknowledges Arrogant Response

The Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus memory issue refuses to die. The official statement that Huawei had released in the previous week did confirm that it had intentionally used memory chips of different types that produced different read and write speeds on these phones despite the fact that they were advertised to feature UFS 2.1 storage. Now, Richard Yu, the mobile chief of the company has posted on Weibo, China’s popular social site, that the official response on the issue was arrogant.

As mentioned above, the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus were advertised to feature UFS 2.1 storage. It has been found that only some variants of the P10 duo feature LPDDR4 RAM and UFS 2.1 storage that deliver optimal performance. The company is speculated to use even slower performing LPRDDR3 RAM and storage types like eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.0 on the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus smartphones.

The eMMC 5,1 storage produces a slow speed of less than 300 Mbps and even the highest configuration model of Huawei P10 Plus featuring 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage has been found to be equipped with eMMC 5.1. Here is an excerpt from its official statement:

“To meet global demand of millions of units, Huawei has employed the standard industry practice of sourcing solutions from multiple trusted suppliers to ensure a balance between user experience, quality and sustainable supply. Relying on a single component supply can lead to a shortage, meaning delays for consumers who wish to buy our new products. In the case of flash memory, in this instance, Huawei has chosen multiple simultaneous mainstream solution suppliers.”

”Among all Huawei P10 marketing collateral, there has been no commitment to the use of only one specific flash memory,” the company said. It disagreed on making any “discrimination or intention to defraud consumers.”

The company’s response did appear arrogant as it was met with annoyed replies by P10 users. Customers have accused the company for selling substandard P10 and P10 phones at a flagship price. One of the users posted on Weibo.” How dare you cut corners on such an expensive flagship! Conceal the differences at first and then say the differences don’t matter once busted.”

Yu has sent out a letter to his staff. In the reply, he states that the P10’s ongoing controversy is a “wake-up call” and he also acknowledged that he reacted on the issue in an arrogant manner. He added that different opinions on the issue should be heard carefully and dealt with humility.

Richard Yu

To resolve the problem, Yu has formed “Customer Listening Taskforce” He wants the Huawei’s staff to visit its thousands of retail and service centers to meet the customers and spend time with them. To have a closer communication with the consumers, Yu will be leading the Consumer Business Group of the company. Even though he said that we would repay the trust of its worldwide customers through its actions, he did not share any specific information on compensations to P10 and P10 users.

OnePlus 5 Rumors: Leaked Shots Taken By its Dual Rear Cameras Surface

Several photos that were allegedly snapped through the upcoming OnePlus 5 flagship phone have surfaced. The EXIF data reveal that the photos were snapped through a OnePlus device that carries a model number of A5000 which probably belongs to OnePlus 5. The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones from the previous year have respective model numbers of A3000 and A3010.

One of our reports from the previous month state that the forthcoming OnePlus flagship will not launch as OnePlus 4 as the number 4 is considered as a bad omen in the China. Hence, the appearance of the A5000 model number suggest that the next the 2017 OnePlus will probably launch as OnePlus 5.

Coming back to the photos that were allegedly shot through OnePlus 5, the second image has a blurry effect which hints that the flagship phone may feature a dual rear camera.

According to the source, a person who has good knowledge about photography has claimed that the amount of depth in the image suggests that the OnePlus 5 may come packed with dual rear cameras. He even states that the OnePlus 5 may feature a pair of 16-megapixel camera sensors. One of the sensors will be able to shoot wide angle photos for adding depth to the images.

Even a leaked photo of the rear side of the phone revealed that the OnePlus 5 would be coming with a vertically arranged dual rear camera. Since the image does not contain a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner which indicates that it may embedded at the frontside.

OnePlus-5

The OnePlus 5 is rumored to house a 5.5-inch AMOLED screen that produces a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The Snapdragon 835 is expected to power the phone with 8 GB of RAM.  It is expected to come in native storage versions of 64 GB and 128 GB and it would be running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat overlaid with OxygenOS. The phone is expected to include a 4,000 mAh battery. It is likely to be unveiled in June.

Even though the report sounds to be true, we advise our readers to take with a grain of salt as EXIF information can be faked. There is no real way to confirm from which devices these photos were shot.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus Postponed And You Can Blame It On The Galaxy S8 Says Analyst

Before the Xiaomi Mi 6 was officially launched, there were rumors of it coming in two variants. One would have a 5.1-inch display and the other which was called the Mi 6 Plus would have a larger 5.7-inch screen. To our amazement, the latter wasn’t released at the launch event.

xiaomi mi 6 plus

Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus

There have been conflicting reports explaining why Xiaomi didn’t release the Mi 6 Plus. Analyst, Pan Jiutang in a new post via Weibo says Samsung’s Galaxy S8 is responsible for the Mi 6 Plus getting postponed. He said the response to Samsung’s new flagship is better than expected, hence the need for more supply of the Snapdragon 835 chip. Since there are not enough chips to go round, Xiaomi has to reschedule the release of the Mi 6 Plus.

Mr. Jiutang’s take on the matter is quite different from what circulated on the micro-blogging platform a few days ago. The news peddled around was that Xiaomi had cancelled the Mi 6 Plus and will instead release the Mi Note 3 in Q3 2017.

Two Vivo V5 Phones Reported to Have Exploded While Charging

The Vivo V5 was released last November as a seflie-focused phone. The phone has a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor for its front facing camera, so you see why it is aimed at selfie lovers. Sadly, the Vivo V5 is not in the news for its camera but for its recent explosions.

Vivo v5

In the past few weeks, there have been two reports from India of the Vivo V5 exploding while charging. The first happened in a local store where the phone was left to charge. An image of the accident shows a large part of the plastic back plate got melted off.

[envira-gallery id=”128942″]

A week later, another incident of the Vivo V5 exploding while charging was reported in Karnal, a city in the Indian state of Haryana. The second incident has lead people to believe that it is no longer an isolated incident.

Two units exploding within the span of a week is bad for the company’s image.Although Vivo has not made any comments about the issue and we are not aware of an on-going investigation. However, we can be sure there is no recall happening yet.

Following the launch of the original Vivo V5, the  manufacturer has released the Vivo V5 Plus with dual front cameras, the Vivo V5 Lite and the Vivo V5s.

Fitbit Explosion: Investigations Reveal Flex 2 Didn’t Explode on Its Own

Last week, a Fitbit Flex 2 owner, Dina Mitchell said her fitness tracker suddenly caught fire and caused injuries to her arm. Ms. Mitchell who was reading a book at the time had to hurriedly pull off the device from her wrist but still ended up with second-degree burns.

The Flex 2 uses a lithium polymer battery which is usually the cause in cases of exploding devices (remember the Galaxy Note 7?). Fitbit decided to investigate the matter and the result says the battery wasn’t responsible.

Fitbite Flex 2

Fitbits’s spokesperson is quoted as saying “Based on our initial investigation, including testing of her device by a leading third-party failure analysis firm, we have concluded that Ms. Mitchell’s Fitbit Flex 2 did not malfunction. The testing shows that external forces caused the damage to the device.”

The spokesperson however failed to mention the “external forces” responsible for the incident. Fitbit says there have been no new reports of Flex 2 units catching fire, therefore owners can continue wearing the smartband without fear.

Fitbit said the health and safety of their customers is top priority, hence their products are not only designed to meet the standards set but are also put through rigorous external and internal testing.

Dual Camera Shootout: The Xiaomi Mi 6 and Huawei P9 Play A Game of I Spy

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is the phone getting all the attention at the moment. Xiaomi’s latest smartphone sports dual rear cameras and just like you, we want to know how it performs against other phones in the market. Yesterday, we compared it against the OnePlus 3T, a phone with a single rear camera. Today, the fight is a lot fairer as the Mi 6 is paired against the Huawei P9.

Xiaomi Mi 6 vs Huawei P9

The Huawei P9 was one of the best camera phones released last year. Its dual camera sensors are a result of the combined efforts of Huawei and German optics expert, Leica. The cameras on the Huawei P9 work in the RGB + Monochrome format unlike those of the Mi 6 that are configured as one 12MP wide-angle lens and one 12MP telephoto lens.

The advantage the Huawei P9 has with this configuration is that it captures more light and therefore performs well under low-light conditions. The monochrome sensor in the Huawei P9 also allows you to shoot pure monochrome images unlike other cameras that just desaturate the colors in the image.

No Full Screen, Bezel-less Phone Coming From Meizu This Year, VP Hints

A couple of months back, a new set of renders of an alleged Meizu device popped up on the internet, revealing a brand new device with a true bezel-less front. The concept render doesn’t in any way mean Meizu was working on a bezel-less phone but then, that’s how it starts.Besides, Xiaomi did the unthinkable with the Mi Mix, so anything was possible.

Meizu Bezel-Less Phone

Not too long ago, Meizu chairman, Jack Wong, also known as Huáng Zhāng hinted that company would be celebrating its 15 years anniversary next year and as a result, they would be releasing a smartphone with cutting-edge design. Jack Wong, who returned to the company in 2014, stated that he was going to build his dream machine for the 15th anniversary of Meizu.

This has made some to speculate that a full-screen, bezel-less design would feature on the said phone which may also pack a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip and other top-end specs. However, Meizu VP Li Nan has stated that the company will not launch a full-screen phone this year. Li Nan agrees full-screen phones are the trendy guys this year but he still has some query about their overall design and fingerprint sensor location. That doesn’t in any way rule out the possibility of a full-screen phone from Meizu next year. That is, Jack Wang’s “Dream machine”. The fact that Li Nan is evaluating the design style may be an indication that the company is working on a full-screen phone.

What Happens When You Drop The Super Costly Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design? Hint: It’s Ugly!

Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design is a limited edition model from Huawei which was announced last year alongside the Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro. The Huawei Mate 9 Porsche Design comes as a ready answer to fans who have been waiting for a Huawei phone with a curved display. This one isn’t just for any category of fans, though, as it carries an 8999 Yuan ($1300) price tag. The Mate 9 Porsche Design is customised, crafted by the popular Porsche Design studio with an AMOLED display panel.

huawei mate 9 porsche design broken screen

Thus, it was mortifying and even horrifying to see how the device looked when it took a tumble off its owner’s hands and boom! the screen got shattered. More horrifying is the cost the owner will likely incur on the $1300 phone if he decides to get the screen changed.

Read AlsoHuawei Mate 9 Porsche Design Vs Gionee M2017: Which Luxury Phone is Worth Your Money?

The Mate 9 Porsche Design screen alone costs around 4688 (around $679) and this is apart from the cost of the labour by the repairer. So, the owner may likely be looking at an $800 repair bill. That is enough to get you an iPhone by the way. I’m sure you’ll agree now that the Mate 9 Porsche isn’t for everyone. Apart from being very expensive, it is also costly to maintain. The Mate 9 Porsche Design and the Mate 9 Pro, both have the same curved design except that the Porsche Design has the Porsche logo at its front and back, and also comes only in 6GB + 256GB memory variant.

Images of LG G6 Mini With Smaller 5.4-inch 18:9 Display Surface, Launching Soon?

The LG G6 was announced at MWC 2017, sporting a unique 5.7-inch Full Vision display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Even though LG’s latest flagship isn’t powered by the new Snapdragon 835 processor, its reviews have been mainly positive. News has it that the Korean electronics giant is working on a smaller version called the G6 Mini.

LG G6 Mini

The LG G6 Mini is rumored to launch with a 5.4-inch display that will have the same aspect ratio has its bigger sibling. Its screen-to-body ratio will be under 80%. Other specification details are currently unknown though we can be sure it won’t be getting the Snapdragon 835 chipset.

Images of the device have also leaked online and they look identical to the original. There are dual rear cameras on the back, positioned above the fingerprint scanner; and the name “G6” written at the base. There is an audio jack sitting at the top and a USB Type-C port and speaker grille lining the bottom.

Blackview BV7000 Pro Review – The Best-looking Budget Rugged IP68 Smartphone Yet

Good rugged phones are usually expensive and they don’t have the best specifications out there. I just came across the Blackview BV7000 Pro, which is probably the best designed rugged smartphone I’ve ever tested. Learn more in our full review.

UNBOXING

The phone ships with all the usual stuff and some extras include the USB OTG cable, a pair of earphones and a screen protector.

DESIGN and DISPLAY

It is obvious that the BV7000 Pro is a rugged phone since it is thick and heavy but I have to say this is one of the best-designed rugged smartphones I’ve tested so far. It comes in different colors but I prefer the gold one.

The phone has the IP-68 rating meaning that it is water and dust resistant. Also, the rugged body assures that the phone will survive a few accidental drops.

Naturally, all the ports are covered with flaps to avoid any water damage. The flaps open and close easily.

We have a 5” 1080p display, which is sharp and vibrant and it is bright enough for outdoor use. Also, it is covered with the Gorilla Glass 3.

Just above the display, we have an 8MP shooter. It is great that we have the LED notification light and nicely backlit capacitive keys.

I really love that industrial look of the metal-made sides of the phone, where you can also find nice and tactile buttons. There is another programmable button. I have to say that this has become one of my favorite features of the phone as you can customize the button in a lot of different ways.

The backplate has a rubberized finish with some really nice-looking metal accents. When it comes to optics, we have a 13MP camera and a single LED flash.

Most of the rugged phones don’t have fingerprint scanners but the BV7000 Pro has this feature. The scanner is fast and accurate, and it unlocks the phone straight from the standby mode. The loudspeaker quality is above average I would say.

Blackview BV7000 Pro design gallery:

HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE

When it comes to hardware, the Blackview BV7000 Pro is one of the most powerful budget rugged phones out there.

The phone ships with an octa-core MTK6750 chip (1.5GHz), 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. You should expect quite a few skipped frames if you want to play games like Asphalt 8 on the highest graphics. On the other hand, playing this game on medium graphics is much better and you may have some enjoyable gaming experience. Finally, the phone does not have overheating issues.

USER INTERFACE

The Blackview BV7000 Pro comes with the Android 6.0 out of the box with the proprietary skin on top of it.The skin removes the app tray and completely redesigns the icons whether you like it or not.

There are some customization options like the ability to change transition effects. Also, there are quite a few motion and gesture controls. As always, I use just a couple of them and they work pretty well. Most importantly, I didn’t have any issues with the phone’s daily performance even after installing quite a few apps and I would say that this Blackview phone is a pretty fast performer.

BENCHMARKS

IMAGE QUALITY

When it comes to the image quality, the Blackview phone can take some decent daylight images but you should not expect any spectacular results. The level of detail could be higher, the dynamic range is usually off and the colour reproduction is not always accurate.

The camera does not really impress in low-light as there is quite a bit of noise and there is a visible red tint in some of the shots.

The selfie camera is not the best but the pictures will do the trick for social media.

When it comes to the 1080p video, it is kind of mediocre as the footage could look sharper. Also, there is no continuous auto-focus on board.

CONNECTIVITY

I didn’t have any connectivity issues with this device and even the GPS lock speeds and accuracy were okay.

BATTERY LIFE

In order to keep the phone relatively slim, Blackview implemented a 3500mAh battery. Still, it performs pretty well as I could constantly get over 6 hours of screen-on time.

CONCLUSIONS

The Blackview BV7000 Pro is a really solid budget IP68-certified and rugged smartphone. Even though there are quite a few budget options out there, this phone is the best-designed, in my opinion.

Also, it has great specs and decent performance but as usual to all budget phones, it has a few shortcomings you have to consider before buying it.

Save the Date: Xiaomi Mi 6 Goes on Sale Again on May 5 at 10 AM

Xiaomi has fixed the second round of sales for the Mi 6 in China for May 5 at 10 AM via Xiaomi mall. Of course, the flagship will still be sold via flash sale and across several platforms too. We expect the next round to pan out just the same way the first round went. That is, the Xiaomi Mi 6 may likely be sold out in seconds as well.

xiaomi mi 6

The company did not disclose if the sales would still be for the Black variant only or if the white and blue and maybe the ceramic version would make their own debut during this next flash sale. It is unlikely, though, that the ceramic version will be available so soon. Even the sleek blue and white versions may not be available in the next round of sales.

OPPO R11 Passes 3C, Release Imminent

OPPO surprised not a few when it emerged as one of the most popular brands in China last year, spurred by the successes of the R9 and R9S models and their siblings. While some are yet to give up on the Find 9, OPPO seems poised to expand the R-series with a new model dubbed R11. The OPPO R11 has just received 3C certification in China which means the device may be launched anytime from now.

oppo r11 3c

According to the 3C certification document, the R11 comes with charger models AK779, AK779GB, AK779JH and AK779JH1. The device is also shown to have OPPO’s legendary VOOC fast charge with  20W (5.0V dc / 4A) support which is capable of delivering 2 hours of charge time in just 5 minutes.

Don’t ask me why OPPO skipped the number 10 to 11, but the OPPO R11 has made some appearance in a couple of leaks and had even been reported to have received radio certificate in China. The alleged photos of the R11 were also spotted recently in an apparent advert featuring Chinese pop singer and Actor, Wang Junkai. OPPO and Wang Junkai have a long standing relationship beginning from the R9 days. The Chinese superstar was one of the celebrities who endorsed the R9.

Xiaomi Mi 6 went on sale for the first time today, in Jet Black color. And guess what! We have got the Xiaomi Mi 6 in our review labs. We are all excited to see how Xiaomi‘s first flagship performs in real life and we can comment on the performance in detail only after a thorough review. Initial impressions have been positive so far but keeping all that aside, we wanted to show you some real life samples of the Xiaomi Mi 6 vs OnePlus 3T. While we know OnePlus 3T isn’t the best camera out there, it’s still a great camera phone, so it will give you a good idea as to how the Mi 6’s dual cameras perform in real life.

xiaomi mi 6 hands on

Like the OnePlus 3T, the Xiaomi Mi 6’s camera is quick to capture images, so no issues here. The quality of the pictures is also excellent. The colors pop out well in the camera samples, giving the images a rich look. Even when the natural lighting was low, the Mi 6 managed to keep the noise to a bare minimum.

I feel the images on the Mi 6 were a tad richer in colors and even sharper. But the OnePlus 3T seems to take brighter images, especially in low-light situations.

Xiaomi Headphones Relaxed Version Review – Amazing Value, Again!

It’s no secret that Xiaomi has been producing all sorts of gadgets and the company is not a newcomer to the headphones market. Their latest model has a great design, intuitive controls, and a lot more other features. Learn more in our review.

UNBOXING

The headphones come in quite a nice box where all the items are packed neatly. A nice touch is that the Xiaomi included a nice carrying pouch to protect your investment.

DESIGN and FEATURES

When it comes to the design, the headphones are made of high-quality plastic and they do not look or feel cheap at all. On the right headphone, we have a play/pause button, which is nice and tactile. However, it would have been nice to have the volume or skip tracks buttons too.

The soft cushion looks and feels great. Also, it does not seem to wear off anytime soon.

We have a microphone for hands-free calling. The call quality is great. The voices are clear and loud on both ends.

After using the headphones for more than a month, I can assure you that they are comfortable to wear even for an extensive period of time. I used them mainly indoors as I don’t like wearing headphones once I’m out and about.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of these headphones is very good. To be honest, this is the best sound quality I’ve heard in any headset in this price range. The sound is balanced and clear.

I can hear the pronounced highs and mids very well. The lows are great too but don’t expect to hear a lot of bass that would punch you to the guts. Finally, I didn’t notice any distortions even at the highest volume setting.

CONCLUSIONS

The Xiaomi headphones deliver once again. They look great, the sound great and they are comfortable to wear. The only shortcoming is that there are no volume controls on the headphones but for the price of just below $40, you simply can’t beat it.

OnePlus 3T Midnight Black Edition Sold Out Except in UK and Hong Kong

About a month ago, OnePlus released the limited edition OnePlus 3T Midnight Black. Just like the name says, it is a black color variant of the flagship device. The OnePlus 3T was originally launched in gunmetal grey and soft gold. However, requests from fans for a black variant led to the release of the Midnight Black Edition.

OnePlus Co-Founder, Carl Pei took to his twitter page today to announce that the limited edition phone will soon be out of stock permanently. At the moment only the UK and Hong Kong store still has it and I bet they won’t be available for long.

The OnePlus 3T Midnight Black comes with 128GB of storage and sells for £439/HK$3,788. Shipping will take place within five days. If you are interested in getting a unit, try to place your order ASAP. Links to both sites will be provided at the bottom of the page.

Xiaomi Quietly Updates Mi 6 Product Page, Now Shows Full Adreno 540 GPU Clock Speed

Xiaomi has this annoying tradition of under-clocking the processors on some variants of its flagships. The Xiaomi Mi 5 and Mi 5s are fresh examples. The base version of the former is clocked at 1.8GHz instead of 2.15GHz and the Mi 5s is clocked at 2.15GHz unlike the Mi 5s Plus that is clocked at 2.35GHz. You should then understand our joy when we learnt no such thing would happen with the Xiaomi Mi 6.

That joy soon turned to disappointment when we saw that the Adreno 540 GPU was listed as under-clocked on the Mi 6 product page. Instead of the standard 710MHz, the GPU speed was written as 653MHz. However, Weibo user @Fertile was able to confirm that the Mi 6 indeed reaches the 710MHz clockspeed even almost 800MHz when he benchmarked it on GFXBench.

For some reasons, Xiaomi announced not too long before the sales date that only the Black variant of the Mi 6 would be available on this first flash sale. True to its word, the device was only available in Black but buyers had the option of choosing between the 6GB + 64B and 6GB + 128GB storage versions which to buy.

We do not know when the Snapdragon 835 powered flagship device would go on its next flash sale but we expect the cycle to keep repeating itself, at least for some time to come until Xiaomi makes enough stock available to meet the demand for the device. However, the Mi 6 can be gotten from third-party resellers who are likely going to offer it at a price that is a little higher than the official price.
