Xiaomi Mi Band 1S Official With Heart Rate Sensor for $15
Late yesterday, Xiaomi had hinted that it could unveil the Xiaomi Mi Band 1S today. And now, the company has promptly made the wearable official. This is the new generation version of the company’s popular Mi Band which sold in millions in the past few months.

The Mi Band 1S does not come with a display, hence you will have to rely on your smartphone to check out all the data. But you can connect it to any iOS or Android smartphone.

The new Mi Band adds a heart rate sensor which means you can keep a check on your heart. Other functions are similar to its previous generation. So, you can track calories, count the number of steps taken, or even check out the amount of calories that you have managed to burn. Like the earlier model, it can also measure the quality of sleep. Further, the new band can unlock your Xiaomi device as well vibrate when your phones receives a new notification. Finally, its IP67 certified which means it will survive under water up to 3 feet for as much as 30 minutes.
With the new Mi Band in the market, the old one can be yours for just $11. However, we will have to wait and see if its available in plenty. The band will go on sale on November 11 for just $15.

Elephone P8000 vs P9000
Elephone P8000 vs P9000
With just a short while left until the long awaited Elephone P9000 goes on sale, I figured its worth pitting the old against the new in a show down.
Elephone’s previous phone the P8000 surprised many people with its large 4000mAh battery and bright screen, whilst leaving some disappointed with slow software updates and several bugs.
In the Elephone P8000 vs P9000 head to head we will see if the company has learned from past mistakes and is able to present a better more rounded phone.
Elephone P8000 vs P9000 Design
The Elephone P8000 design was more of an evolution of the P7000 than a design revolution, the rear cover featured a nice faux carbon fibre texture and the phones metal frame gave a fairly sophisticated look whilst also ensuring the phone would not bend under normal usage.
Something that many people found disappointing when the phone was released, was the larger than necessary black borders that surrounded the screen, these had been disguised very well in the original renders and came as a real disappointment.
Apart from the 5.5″ screen with its black borders the front was also home to 3 capacitive buttons, the home button also works as a halo style LED notification light.
The P8000 was not a small phone by any means weighing in at a substantial 205 grams and also fairly chunky at thick at 10 mm, most of the extra weight and width was due to the inclusion of a 4000mAh battery.
For the P9000 Elephone have managed to slim the phone down to a much more acceptable 8mm and managed a 55 gram weight reduction bringing the P9000 in at just 150 grams.
The Elephone P9000’s design really stands out over the P8000’s due to the striking appearance of the virtually absent screen bezels, the 2.5D display curvature of the screen works to further increase the look making it appear that no bezels are present, the P9000 also features a stylish flat rear design.
On the P8000 he fingerprint sensor that was integrated in to the home key, for the P9000 this has now been given its own designated side button.
From a design standpoint it would appear that Elephone have certainly seemed to listen to the criticisms levelled at the P8000 by its users.
Elephone P8000 vs P9000 Performance
The elephone P8000 featured an8-core MediaTek MT6753 processor running at 1.3 GHz with a Mali T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
For everyday tasks this proved to be adequate enough to perform well and gave a smooth user experience, for less GPU intensive games performance was ok, but more intensive games suffered some frame rate drops and lag.
It looks like Elephone wants to really push the P9000’s hardware capabilities, they have chosen to include a Helio P10 processor and 4GB of RAM .
When the phone is released it will be amongst the most powerful phones on the market and be expected to easily handle anything you can currently throw at it.
Elephone P8000 vs P9000 Display
The 5.5 inch IPS LCD full HD resolution found on the P8000 was quite good, providing good colour reproduction, good viewing angles and was brightness levels that meant it was able to be used outdoors.
Elephone have decided to follow the same path as the P8000 for the P9000 and are again using a 5.5 inch IPS LCD with 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, hopefully colour reproduction, viewing angles and brightness, will to be at least as good as those found on the P8000 if not better.
Elephone P8000 vs P9000 Battery
A definate highlight of the Elephone P8000 was its 4000mAh capacity battery, easily able to hold over a days worth of charge, some people even managed to eek out two days of light to moderate usage.
A downside to the 4000mAh battery found in the P8000 was the 4 hours taken to recharge it from flat, it was a real shame that Elephone did not put fast charging on the phone.
Elephone have taken the decision to reduce the P9000’s battery capacity down to just 3100mAh, this will help to thin the phone a bit and also keep the weight down, however some P8000 users that upgrade may be a little little disappointed having to recharge more often.
Hopefully Elephones decision to opt for the Helio P10 will have a positive affect on battery life, power usage on the Helio P10 is still pretty much an unknown quantity but hopefully its ability to switching the number of cores in use up or down to suit the tasks thrown at the P9000 may help to reduce overall battery use and go some way towards mitigating the reduction in battery capacity, hopefully the P9000 should still see at least a day of usage between charging, although most users charge their phones nightly so this hopefully won’t be a major problem.
Elephone P8000 vs P9000 Camera
The P8000’s 13mp sensor was often a bain of contention for its users, whilst it was capable of producing some great images, focus tended to be a bit hit and miss as did low light photography and white balance, this did improve with firmware updates but was sadly an issue that got a fair amount of attention.
Elephone will hopefully have imaging sorted this time around on the P9000, the choice to fit a 20MP rear camera with dedicated autofocus should help to provide stunning images, with incredible definition and sharpness, the thing that Elephone need to do is dedicate the necessary time to ensure that the software is able to process and render the images properly, the phone will have an 8mp camera up front, which should allow some half decent selfies.
And the winner of the Elephone P8000 vs P9000…
Is the P9000 by a fairly long shot
From the information currently available about the P9000, it appears that Elephone have made some pretty significant improvements over the P8000, the Mediatek MK6797 and the screen with virtually no bezels and 20.mp camera will go along way to wards silencing some of Elephones critics and the slimmer lighter body will also ensure that the phone feel better in the hand, even if it comes at the expense of battery life.
If Elephone can bring the phone out with decent software and the promised specifications, whilst also ensuring the phone looks as good as it does in the renders, Elephone could be well on their way rebuilding their brand and securing lots of sales and .
Let me know what you think in the comments below.
Kind regards Shanos
The P9000 is currently available on pre sale for $299.99 (£196) its worth considering the P8000 as it can now be purchasedfor just $169 (£111) which is a bit of a bargain.
Huawei Confirms Mate 8 Will Feature Kirin 950, More Specs Leaked!
Yesterday, Huawei officially unveiled the Kirin 950 chipset with quad Cortex A72 cores clocked at 2.53GHz and quad Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. Later in the evening, the company confirmed that the upcoming Huawei flagship, the Huawei Mate 8 will feature this chip.
The Kirin 950 seems to be a great chip on paper and we would really like to see its performance in real life. With Huawei Mate 8’s launch just a couple of weeks away, we will soon be able to judge the real life performance of the chip. In fact, in the initial test rig set out by Huawei at yesterday’s event, the Kirin 950 powered smartphone managed to score a whopping 83000 points on AnTuTu which is better than any other chip we have seen lately.
Moreover, with Mate 8’s high-end specs and 1080p display (since Huawei doesn’t believe 2K is required on smartphones), the performance should be pretty good. According to a recent listing on GFXBench, we came to know some of the possible specifications of the Mate 8 handset. The flagship will be powered by Kirin 950 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. There will be a 1080p 6-inch display up front. As for the camera, you can expect to see a 16MP shooter at the back along with an 8MP front facing one. The specs are definitely going to be high-end, so the overall performance should be better than most other phones we have seen recently.
With the efficient yet powerful Kirin 950, the phone should definitely attract the interests of power users. Stay tuned to the site for more updates on the Mate 8 flagship.

Xiaomi’s 20,000mAh Mi PowerBank Spotted, Supports QC 2.0
Its been about six months since Xiaomi unveiled the lighter and slimmer 10,000mAh powerbank. Now, the company is reportedly set to unveil an even larger version, a 20,000mAh powerbank. The product was first spotted on a retailer website and its expected to go on sale on November 11.
According to the supply chain sources, the 20,000mAh powerbank will be comprised of 6 x 3350mAh high capacity batteries from Panasonic/ LG. It will support Quick Charge 2.0 which means you can charge at 5V 2A、9V 2A、12V 1.5A for a maximum wattage of 18W. Like the rest of the Mi Powerbank family, this particular device is also expected to be compact and portable. Also, despite its large size, the powerbank is said to take only about 5 hours to charge completely.
As for the pricing, Xiaomi has always surprised us with its product pricing in the past, and its not unlikely that the 20,000mAh Mi Powerbank could be priced at just 129 Yuan i.e. $21 which will be an excellent price for such a large battery.
So, what do you think about a 20,000mAh Mi powerbank? Any takers if its priced under $25?

Xiaomi Mi5 Coming On December 3 With Snapdragon 820?
Its been a rather long wait for the rumored Xiaomi Mi5 flagship. We have been hearing about this phone since last year and it was even said that the phone will launch by mid-2015. But that clearly didn’t happen which set the launch to the end of 2015. Now, the latest rumor suggests that the Xiaomi Mi5 will launch on December 3rd, which isn’t that far off. That’s less than a month away!

This is in line with the recent rumors we have been hearing about the Mi5 flagship. First of all, the rumor states that the Mi5 will come with Snapdragon 820, which should also see an official release sometime before December 3rd. It is said that the chip will be announced on a Tuesday, but which Tuesday we are not sure. Its probably the one before the launch, so we expect the Snapdragon 820 launch on December 1st.
We have heard from multiple sources that Mi5 could be the first 820 powered smartphone. Also, since Qualcomm officials had said a few weeks earlier that the Snapdragon 820 phones will only be available by early next year, December could be the ideal time to launch the Mi5 flagship. It may not be available immediately and the phone could start shipping from January next year.
Although many of the leaked information from Leaksfly have turned out to be true, lets wait for some official details from the company before getting too excited. Neither Qualcomm or Xiaomi has revealed any new details about its products, but if its in the coming few weeks, we may see some teasers and event invites real soon.
Vivo confirms 4GB RAM on the X6 Flagship!
After so many months, Vivo is all set to release a new flagship smartphone, the Vivo X6 in the coming days. From the recent teasers and rumors, the phone is going to be a super high-end flagship. And today, Vivo confirmed via its official Weibo page that the Vivo X6 will feature 4GB of RAM.
The gif image shows that with 4G of RAM you can do much more than with just 3GB. In the earlier teasers, the company had said that the phone was going to be extremely fast and this could be one of the reasons. However, according to a recent leak, the X6 flagship is going to come with 1GB of dedicated graphic memory, a first for a smartphone! If this is indeed the case, then the phone will have 5GB of RAM on board, which will make it really fast.
Since this is a very big feature, if its real, then expect to hear more about it real soon. As for the other specs, we are not quite sure of that at the moment. Rumors have said that the phone will feature a super slim 4mm body with a 6-inch 2K display among other high-end specs. But they are yet to be officially confirmed.
Meanwhile, you can check out a video leaked earlier comparing the Vivo X6 with the iPhone 6S. With 4GB of RAM, the new device was faster than the iPhone.

Elephone M1 Review: UNBOXING
The phone comes with a charging brick, USB cable, screen protector and some documentation.
Elephone M1 Review: DESIGN
Let’s take a look at the design first and what we have here is an all-metal phone except for the top and bottom parts for a better signal reception. Also, it is not the smallest device out there due to its 5.5” display.

On the front we have the 2MP selfie snapper, earpiece, front firing LED and a sensor light. On the bottom there are 3 non-backlit capacitive keys.
On the metal back there is a 13MP shooter with a dual LED flash and underneath it there is a fingerprint sensor.
On the right Elephone implemented a volume rocker and the power key and on the left there is a dual micro SIM and microSD card tray.
On the top there is a headset jack and on the bottom you have a charging port, speaker grill and a mic.
Overall, Elephone M1 is well built and metal materials add quite a lot of premium look and feel.
Elephone M1 Review: DISPLAY
When it comes to display, we are looking at a 5.5” 720p panel, which looks sharp, bright and vivid, and it is a good panel overall for a budget phone.
Elephone M1 Review: UI
Elephone M1 comes with the Android 5.1 out of the box and you can choose from either default Elephone’s launcher, which has customized icons and a few other features or a stock looking UI.
If you go with the Elephone’s launcher, you are still getting a pretty much stock build but there is no app tray, so the apps have to be organised in folders.
There is not too much functionality added in the ROM but Elephone has its own online theme store and some other customisation options.
One of the key features of the Elephone M1 is a fingerprint scanner and I have to say it works pretty fast and it is accurate. My only complaint is that it does not work straight from the standby mode.
Other complaints would be that the UI doesn’t show the juice left in the battery in percents. Also, if you select adaptive brightness feature, the display becomes simply too dim, so I had to use manual brightness.
Overall, the UI has a few bugs but it is snappy and I didn’t have a single hiccup during my testing period, which is pretty good.
Elephone M1 Review: BENCHMARKS
Elephone M1 Review: HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE
The phone has a pretty standard hardware package for a budget China phone. It has an MTK6735 chip with the clock speeds of 1.3GHz, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
This hardware allows the Elephone M1 handle the 3D games quite well. As usual, you may get some skipped frames but I didn’t get much stutter that would make gaming experience annoying.
Elephone M1 Review: MULTIMEDIA
When it comes to the multimedia consumption, the loudspeaker is okay but not very impressive. Well, this is what you usually get in this price range anyway.
Elephone M1 Review: CAMERA
The 13MP camera is a hit or miss. Sometimes it is capable of producing some nice looking images with a decent amount of details but other times it struggles with focusing big time.
When it comes to the low-light shots, they are okay as we can’t expect more from a budget phone. The shutter speed is very slow as it seems that the camera software keeps it open for an extensive period of time to capture more light. However, it is annoying. Also, some of the low-light images have a significant red tint.
When it comes to selfies, I was surprised that there was no wide-angle lens. Also, the resolution is low, image quality is poor and the embedded front firing LED is practically useless.
Video quality does not impress either as it is shaky and lacks details.
Elephone M1 Review: CONNECTIVITY
I didn’t have any connectivity issues with the wifi, Bluetooth or GPS. Also, the call quality as well as signal reception are decent.
Elephone M1 Review: BATTERY LIFE
Elephone M1 comes with 2780mAh sealed-in battery unit, which performs okay but there is nothing to be impressed about. I could get around 4 hours of screen-on time when I used my phone with 1 SIM card for social media, emails, a bit of gaming and camera. Anyway, it will definitely get you through the day unless you are a hardcore user.
Elephone M1 Review: CONCLUSIONS
So here it is, a great looking all-metal Elephone M1. For less than $160 you are getting a phone with a great build quality, decent display and fast and fluid UI performance, which has just a few minor bugs.
On the other hand, the camera can be a good performer for a budget phone but it is not reliable as some of the shots are a hit or miss. Also, the selfie shooter is a disappointment.
Other than that, the Elephone M1 is a good phone for the price but you may also want to check out what the competition has to offer in this price category. If you are interested, I will leave a product link below the video for you.
Bluboo Reveals More Details About XTouch’s Slim Body, Teases A New Smartwatch
Bluboo has revealed more details about the Bluboo Xtouch’s body. We already knew that the phone will come with a 3D arc back design with a polygonal mirror texture, which is highlighted in the picture down below.
Now, the company reveals that the frame on the XTouch measures just 3.75mm at the thickest end and 2.23mm at the thinnest end. This is one of the reasons why the overall thickness of the phone is so thin. Moreover, the phone will feature a CNC metal frame just like the Xiaomi Note with CNC polishing for a smooth round finish.
In addition to revealing details about the phone’s body, Bluboo also revealed a new teaser for a new smartwatch. This is either the Bluboo Xwatch that we saw a few days back or its an entirely new round smartwatch from the company. Anyways, we will soon know what it is. So, stay tuned for more details.
Here’s a couple more pictures of the Xtouch’s metal frame.
Huawei’s Kirin 950 Chip Is Official, Features Cortex A72 & i5 co-processor
After months of rumors and speculations, Huawei has officially announced the Kirin 950 chipset in China. The company had a special event for the unveiling in the capital city, Beijing earlier today.
The Kirin 950 chipset will come with four Cortex A72 cores clocked at 2.53GHz and four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The A72 cores will make sure that the phone delivers super fast performance while the A53 cores will maintain efficiency of the chip. Unsurprisingly, the chip will be using the big.LITTLE architecture and will be built on the 16nm FinFET process from TSMC. There will be the Mali-T880MP4 GPU on board which Huawei claims is 100% better than Kirin 930’s GPU. Also, the chip will support Cat. 6 LTE networks ensuring download speeds of up to 300MBps.
Another interesting thing about the new Kirin 950 chip is the i5 co-processor on board. This is an always on processor which can work together with Cortex A72 and A53 cores for the best performance. The best part of the i5 co-processor is that its super efficient, using just 6.5mA, that’s 90% drop from the 90mA as compared to its previous generation i3 processor. This controls the various sensors on board the chip even when the phone is in sleep, which means you can expect tremendous improvement in the battery life, especially in the standby mode.
Also, like the previous Kirin 930 and 920 chipset, the new Kirin 950 comes with VoLTE which should enable better voice calls. Overall, it looks like the Kirin 950 a worthy upgrade to the existing Kirin 930.
In case, you are wondering about the benchmarks, the chip powering a device was kept in the presentation, and the phone scored about 83,000 on the AnTuTu benchmark. That’s better than existing chips like Exynos 7420.
Anyways, we expect the Kirin 950 powered Huawei Mate 8 to be announced on November 26, which is just a couple of weeks away. So, stay tuned for more details.

Elephone Ivory coming soon for just $99
If there is one thing that Elephone can’t be accused of, its sitting back and not thinking of what to bring out next, today we have recieved news of another phone nearing release. The Elephone Ivory will be ready by the end of November.
The specs for the Elephone Ivory are not bad at all considering the low price of just $99 the phone will be powered by the popular 8 core Mediatek MT6753 that is more often found in phones in the $150+ price range.
The display is a 5″ 720p HD unit with on-cell display and 2.5D glass
Given the specs and the low price this could be a great option for people wanting a fairly decent spec spare phone or even a phone for their children.
If Elephone can get the software right and include a bright and vivid screen, as well as a half decent camera, the Elephone Ivory could be a real winner and help to rebuild Elephones reputation.
Having got hands on with the Elephone trunk (review to follow shortly)recently, it is definatly possible for Elephone to make a phone with a decent screen at a decent price, lets hope that they get the software and the camera working well.
The fact that Elephone are aiming this phone at the budget end of the market, with a price tag of just $99 (£65) could make this a real bargain stocking filler.
Will this be a phone find its way in to a christmas stocking for you this year?
As always please leave comments and questions below
Kind regards

Elephone 4k action cam coming soon
Yesterdays saw the release of the 4K teaser image from Elephone, we now have 2 new images that confirm what Elephone have been working on, its the Elephone 4k action cam.
The Elephone 4k action cam allows recording of video in the following formats and frames per second, 720 HD video at 120 frames per second,1080p full HD at 60 frames per second and 4K at 15 frames per second.
A 170 degree wide angled lens is mounted up front to capture the video, this wide an angle will get pretty much everything in your field of view (so be carefull what shoes your wearing).
Most sites are stating that the Elephone 4k action cam comes with a 16 mega pixel OV4689 sensor, however the OV4689 is actually a 4 mega pixel sensor rather than the widely stated 16 mega pixel.
This is the sensor used in other action cams such as the Soodoo F60, it does achieve 4K at 15 frames per second on the Soodoo F60, but it would appear that the resolution is probably achieved via interpolation up to 4k rather than being a native sensor resolution.
The Elephone 4k action cam features an Allwinner V3 chipset ARM Cortex A7 processor @ 1.2GHz, this is a chipset that is finding its way in to a fair number of China based action cams.
The Elephone 4k action cam has built in WIFI support and can be connecter too and operated via an Android or IOS devices, as yet control software has not been shown.
A micro SD card is supported, most China based action cams support up to 64gb, support for 128gb would be a nice addition if it can be pulled off by the Elephone 4k action cam.
I hope that Elephone will spend time optimising their hardware to try and get quality on par with the market leaders such as Gopro, but until we get some hands on time with a review unit we will have to wait and see.
As usual any questions or comments can be left below.
Kind regards Shanos
