ZTE Axon 7 turned out to be a really good premium affordable offering from the Chinese company and was well-received by the users globally. Now, the company is all set to launch its successor as it has managed to get the ban lifted which barred it from doing business with US-based companies.

Earlier, the company had sent out media invites for the IFA 2018 in Berlin from August 31 to 5th September. Now, the company has sent out official invites for the Axon 9 launch event on August 30 and has also shared the invite of the launch through Weibo. The invite has a big ‘9’ written on it, clearly hinting at the Axon 9.

The image also mentions 5G, hinting that the phone could be a 5G-enabled device. The phone is also expected to come with the trendy full-screen display having 18:9 aspect ratio. There’s also dual-camera setup on the back, for improved imaging capabilities.

Based on the previous reports, the Axon 9 is expected to come with a 6-inch QHD+ display and will be powered by Qualcomm‘s flagship Snapdragon 845 processor. It could come in two variants, one with 4GB RAM and another with 6GB RAM.

As for the internal storage, it’ll start with 64GB onboard storage and will max out at 256GB. The device, which is expected to be 5G-enabled, will be running Android Oreo operating system out-of-the-box. Currently, no more details are available regarding the phone.

Apart from the Axon 9, the company is also expected to launch a new Blade series smartphone at the IFA 2018. To know more about the devices getting launched by ZTE at IFA, we’ll have to wait for the official announcement.

Meizu 16 sold out within seconds in its first sale in China, bookings still open

Today, Meizu‘s flagship smartphone of the year — Meizu 16 went on sale in China. However, within seconds, all the units of the smartphone went out of stock.

Now, the company has announced that it’ll keep the bookings open for the smartphone and expects to ship them in 4-8 weeks. On its forum, the company also said that it’s actively working to prepare stock for the Meizu 16.

The phone was also available for purchase in offline stores where users lined-up to purchase this flagship device from Meizu. Interestingly, just after the phone went out of stock, Xiaomi announced a price cut of 100 Yuan on its Mi 8 6GB + 64GB model, making it the cheaper than the Meizu 16.

The Meizu 16 comes with a 6-inch Full HD+ display with an impressive 91.18 percent screen-to-body ratio, 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. For the first time in its flagship devices lineup, the company has opted to use Qualcomm‘s chipset.

Xiaomi is prepping up to launch Poco F1 tomorrow. The handset will be arriving as the first phone in the newly announced Pocophone series. Reports have claimed that India will be receiving the Poco F1 smartphone instead of the Xiaomi Mi 8 that was made official in China at the end of May. However, according to a latest report by 91 Mobiles, India will be also receiving Mi 8 soon after the launch of Poco F1. The publication has also claimed the Indian arrival of the Mi 8 has been confirmed by three separate retailers in India.

The publication has further stated that the Indian launch date of Mi 8 is not known yet. It is likely to be priced under Rs. 30,000. In China, Xiaomi had launched the Mi 8 with in multiple variants featuring up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of native storage. There is no confirmation on whether all the variants of the Mi 8 will be arriving in India.

Recent rumors have claimed that the 128 GB variant of the Poco F1 could be priced at Rs. 25,000. There is a possibility that the Mi 8 could be aimed towards the offline markets whereas the upcoming Poco F1 could be only available online.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 and Poco F1 have similar specs and design. The Poco F1 has a dual camera unit followed by a fingerprint on the top-half of its rear shell. Since it is arriving as an affordable flagship, it features a polycarbonate rear. On the other side, the Mi 8 is blessed with a premium appeal as it features a glass rear with an iPhone X-like vertical dual camera on its top left. Nokia 6.1 Plus could be Flipkart exclusive in India, launching tomorrow

HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia smartphones, has scheduled a launch event in India tomorrow where it is expected to launch the Nokia 6.1 Plus, which is the global variant of the Nokia X6 launched in China.

Now, ahead of the launch event, the company has confirmed that the smartphone will be exclusively available through online marketplace Flipkart. The teaser video also features musician trio Shankar, Ehsaan, and Loy.

Earlier, the company had sent out media invites for the “next big unveil”. While the company did not name the Nokia 6.1 Plus as the device of interest, it’s likely to be the Nokia 6.1 Plus given that the company has already started the global rollout of the phone.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 5.8-inch Full-HD+ display with 2280 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 19:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, paired along with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

There’s a microSD card slot which enables users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity. Coming to the photography department, the device sports a dual camera setup, consisting of a 16-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel secondary camera sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Alleged Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 photos reveal design changes

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 is rumored to go official in September. To be more precise, a recent leak had claimed that the phone may get announced on Sept. 15. The Mi MIX series phones that have launched so far have featured similar design. However, rumors surrounding the Mi MIX 3 claim that it may arrive with an enhanced design. Fresh photos of the alleged Mi MIX 3 smartphone have surfaced on Weibo today. The new images also suggest that the Mi MIX 3 will be sporting a better design and higher screen space than its predecessor models.

The above shown images of the back panel of the alleged Mi MIX 3 indicate that it could be equipped with glass or ceramic rear. Hence, the handset is pegged to carry support for wireless charging.

The dual camera module is placed in the upper half of the rear shell and it does not feature a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. This seems to be a clear proof that the Mi MIX 3 will be equipped with an under-display fingerprint reader.

The other photo that is shown below reveals that its bottom edge is equipped with features like an external speaker grille, a USB-C port and a microphone. The bottom bezel of the alleged Mi MIX 3 appears thinner than that of the predecessor Mi MIX series phones. This means that the bottom bezel will not be housing the selfie camera. It indicates that it could be equipped with a pop-up selfie camera.

Rumors have it that the pop-up selfie camera module may also feature an LED flash. The reduction of the bottom bezel indicates that the Mi MIX 3 may offer higher screen-to-body ratio than Mi MIX 2S. The Mi MIX 3 is unlikely to feature 3.5mm audio jack like the Mi MIX 2S.

Last year, Xiaomi had confirmed the launch date of the Mi MIX 2 phone on Aug. 30 and it was made official on Sept. 11. It had arrived a day before Apple had announced the iPhone X. If the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 goes official by mid-September, there is a possibility that the company may confirm on its launch date by the end of this month. A recent leak had revealed that the Mi MIX 3 could be coming with S-AMOLED screen with 2K resolution, Snapdragon 845, 20-megapixel selfie camera, in-display fingerprint scanner and Qi wireless charging. The leak had also revealed that it could be priced at ~$569.

A few months ago, Xiaomi launched Mi 8, its flagship smartphone, for a starting price of 2,699 Yuan (approximately $393). Now, the company has announced a price cut of 100 Yuan on the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of the Mi 8, making it the cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone in China.

With the discounted price of the Mi 8, the Meizu 16 now faces a tough competition. Further, the price cut comes at a time when the Meizu 16 is out-of-stock. The Meizu 16, the company’s flagship phone of the year, starts at 2,698, which roughly converts to $392.

The R15 featured 6.28-inch OLED screen, MediaTek Helio P60, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera, 20-megapixel front camera and 3,450mAh battery. On the other side, the R15 Pro came with 6.28-inch OLED screen, Snapdragon 660, 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel, 20-megapixel selfie camera and 3,430mAh battery.

The new OPPO R17 carries a costlier price tag of 3,499 Yuan (~$509) which is equal to the launch price of the Ceramic Black edition of the R15 Pro. Apart from Opposhop.cn, the R17 is also listed on JD.com, Lynx and Suning. The handset can be availed in color choices such as Streamer Blue and Neon Purple. The R17 is currently listed for reservations on all the aforementioned retailer sites. These retailers will bring the pre-sales of the R17 on Aug. 23 followed by its market release on Aug. 30.

As far as specs are concerned, the OPPO R17 features 6.4-inch AMOLED display with waterdrop notch design. It supports FHD+ resolution and produces a screen-to-body ratio of 91.5 percent. Made out of glass on front and rear, the R17 measures 157.5 x 74.9 x 7.5mm and weighs 182 grams.

The R17 is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo that is customized with a layer of ColorOS 5.2. It is powered by Snapdragon 670 and 8 GB of RAM. It features an internal storage of 128 GB and it also includes a microSD card slot. The handset is packed with a battery of 3,500mAh battery that supports VOOC fast charging through USB-C. For photography, the R17 features 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera and 25-megapixel selfie snapper.

There is no information available on the pricing of the OPPO R17 Pro. Also, the handset that is equipped with triple camera sensors which includes a TOF 3D sensing sensor is yet to be listed on the official site. Its detailed specs and pricing will be confirmed on Aug. 23.

LeEco releases EUI 6.0 for Le Max 2, Le 2 and others, brings face unlock

LeEco (LeTV) hasn’t released a new phone in over a year due to the financial mess that resulted in the company’s mobile arm “packing up business”. However, it appears the mobile phone business hasn’t shut down completely as LeEco has released a new version of its Emotion UI (EUI) for some of its smartphones.

Since the financial brouhaha in 2016, LeEco has not stopped pushing out updates to some of its phones including its 2016 flagship -the Le Max 2 and the mid-range Le 2. The latest update started hitting devices on the 8th of August and comes as EUI 6.0.

The update is available to the aforementioned phones including some other unmentioned models. One of the main features the update brings to these devices is face unlock, a feature that became mainstream starting last year. The update is also said to optimize system performance for an overall smoother experience. Sadly, there is no info as to if the new update also comes with a new version of Android.

The Le Max 2 is a Snapdragon 820-powered smartphone with a 5.7” QHD display. It has up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. It also has a single 21MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. It doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack but there is a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter shipped with the phone. Underneath is its metal body is a 3100mAh battery.

OPPO AX5 seen at Taiwan and Singapore’s network agencies

An upcoming OPPO smartphone has made an appearance at Taiwan’s NCC and Indonesia’s Infocom Media Development Authority. The phone’s model number is CPH1851 but it has been reported it will launch as the OPPO AX5.

Based on the images provided in the NCC document, the OPPO AX5 has dual rear cameras with a LED flash flanking the sensors on the right. There doesn’t seem to be a fingerprint scanner on the back. Up in front, there is a notched display similar to that of the iPhone X and not the new waterdrop design.

The OPPO AX5 also has a USB type-C port at the bottom with a speaker grille on one side and a 3.5mm audio jack on the other. The volume buttons are on the left of the phone while the power button sits on the right.

Honor 8X retail box leaks, could be launching soon

A new Honor smartphone was recently certified by Chinese telecoms regulatory agency TENAA with a valley notch design at the front. The device is believed to be the Honor 8X and indeed proofs have emerged that Huawei has got the Honor 8X in the works. The Honor 8X retail packaging box has leaked online. The pciture which was first shared by PCPOP has “8X” boldly writtenon it with the acronym (AI) circled at the end. That is an indication that the device will have artificial intelligence. Honor is also crested at the bottom showing that the retail box is for the Honor 8X.

The Honor 8X which is believed to be the Honor ARE-AL00 model spotted on TENAA is equipped with a monstrous 7.12-inch display with a screen resolution of 2244 x 1080 pixels. This indicates that it will deliver an aspect ratio of 18.7:9. The device measures 177.57 x 86.24 x 8.13mm and it weighs 210 grams. The Honor ARE-AL00 features an octa-core processor of 1.8 GHz and it receives power from 4,900mAh battery. So we don’t know the processor but it could be the Kirin 710 chipset since the device is a mid-range model and is AI-enabled. The processor is paired with 4 GB of RAM and its internal storage capacity is 64 GB of RAM. There is a microSD card slot onboard for additional storage. The back panel features a primary camera of 16-megapixel that is assisted by a secondary 2-megapixel sensor. It is pre-installed with Android 8.1 Oreo with Huawei’s EMUI 8 custom skin.
