Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone to launch in India next month for under Rs. 30,000 ($409)

While there are rumours related to the ZTE‘s Nubia brand gearing up to launch the Nubia Red Magic 2 gaming smartphone, the company is reportedly all set to launch the Red Magic smartphone in India next month, after Diwali.

The report also reveals that the smartphone will be priced under Rs. 30,000 (approximately $409). With such pricing, it’ll compete against the flagship phones from the likes of OnePlus and Honor which are in the same price segment. This is line with our previous reported related to the Nubia Red Magic’s launch in India.

The Nubia Red Magic is made out of aluminum and is ergonomically designed for extended gameplay. It uses advanced thermal modeling techniques and is claimed to be the first smartphone to use an all-new air convection cooling system which is designed to dissipate heat effectively across its diamond-cut design without compromising on performance.

To make it stand out from the competition, the phone is branded with a distinctive RGB LED strip. The smartphone features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an edge-to-edge 2.5D NEG T2X-1 screen, 18:9 aspect ratio and 1500:1 contrast ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 835 processor.

The processor is coupled Adreno 540 GPU, along with 8GB of RAM and 128GB dual-channel flash memory. The Nubia Red Magic comes with a GameBoost mode, which frees up memory-intensive resources and delivers higher frame rates.

For photography, there’s a 24-megapixel Samsung 5K2X7SX rear camera sensor with 0.9μm pixel size, f/1.7 aperture and supports 4K video recording at 30fps and slow-motion 720p video recording at 120fps. On the front side, there’s an 8-megapixel SK Hynix HI-846 sensor with 1.12μm pixel size and f/2.0 aperture.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, MIMO 2×2, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, GPS and GLONASS. It comes with DTS Technology and Smart Amplifier system for an immersive sound experience. The smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box and is powered by a 3,800mAh battery which can provide up to 7 hours of gameplay on a single charge.

The Nubia Red Magic 2 is coming and apart from having a more powerful processor, it will pack some other interesting features. While we wait for Nubia to announce a release date, a live photo of the phone has surfaced on the web, giving us our first look at the gaming phone.

The Nubia Red Magic 2 in the image is the red variant. We expect it to come in other colors like the original. Although the image shows just the right side of the phone, there are enough details to make out of it.

The Red Magic 2 has antenna lines like the original and it is the same U-design. The right side is still home to the volume rocker and power button but also houses two shoulder buttons. They don’t appear to be clickable – so they are likely pressure-sensitive. Since the right side of the phone now houses the shoulder buttons, the textured GameBoost button is no longer there. Our guess is that it has been moved to the left.

Samsung Galaxy S10+ tipped to offer 93.4% screen, bigger battery

The rumor mill is now actively spilling information on the Samsung Galaxy S10 series that is expected to go official in the first quarter of 2019. Fresh information reveals that the screen-to-body ratio of the Galaxy S10+ will be very close to the OPPO Find X and Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 and it will be packed with a large-sized battery.

According to All About Samsung, the South Korean company is working in three variants of the Galaxy S10. Two of the them will be premium models featuring dual edge curved displays whereas the third model will be equipped with a flat screen.

It is speculated that the one of the premium S10 models will carry S10+ moniker. This phone is expected to deliver a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4 percent which is quite close to 93.8 percent screen space offered by OPPO Find X. At the launch event of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3, the company claimed that it offers a screen-to-body ratio of 93.4 percent. Recent leaks have suggested that both the premium versions of the Galaxy S10 would be equipped with an ultrasonic under display fingerprint reader.

Based on the release regions, the Galaxy S10 series could be powered by Snapdragon 8150 or Exynos 9820 chipset. The Galaxy S10+ is expected to arrive with a larger battery of 4,000mAh capacity.

It is speculated that the Galaxy S10 series may not feature 3.5mm audio jack. A recent leak has revealed that the Galaxy S10 trio will be arriving in six color options such as black, grey, blue, red, green and yellow. The Samsung Galaxy S10 series is speculated to go official at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in February in the coming year. The South Korean tech giant is also expected to release a 5G version of the Galaxy S10+ smartphone. It could be one of the first phones to feature 12 GB of RAM.

Honor WaterPlay 8 Tablet with dual cameras & water-resistance will launch on October 31

Honor has an event scheduled for October 31 where it will announce its latest flagship phone – the Magic 2. In the last week or thereabouts, it has become public knowledge that the Chinese smartphone maker will be launching other products alongside the phone. Up until yesterday, we knew it would launch the Honor Watch and the Honor FlyPods wireless earbuds. Today, it announced we would also get a new tablet – the Honor WaterPlay 8.

The Honor WaterPlay 8 is a smaller version of the Honor WaterPlay tablet announced last year at the Honor 7X launch. Unlike last year’s model that has a 10-inch screen, the new version will have an 8-inch display. However, that isn’t the only difference.

The poster for the launch reveals the Honor WaterPlay 8 will also have dual rear cameras – a feature we don’t see that often on tablets. It will also be waterproof like the 10-inch version. Sadly, we don’t know what the internal specs are but expect it to have a smaller battery.

Honor Magic 2 AnTuTu listing reveal unimpressive benchmarking score and key specs

The Honor Magic 2 has been recently spotted on Geekbench benchmarking platform and now it has also appeared on AnTuTu. The AnTuTu listing of the Magic 2 has revealed its key specs. However, what’s surprising about the listing is that even though it shares the same specs as the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, it has recorded a lower benchmarking score on AnTuTu.

An Honor phone with model number TNY-AL00 has appeared on AnTuTu. The appearance of the same model number on TENAA has revealed that it is the Honor Magic 2 smartphone that is slated to go official on Oct. 31. The Huawei TNY-AL00 model has been also benchmarked by Geekbench.

The Honor Magic 2 AnTuTu listing reveals that it features Full HD+ resolution supporting display and it is fueled by Kirin 980 chipset and 8 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 128 GB and it is loaded with Android 9 Pie OS. The handset has recorded an average benchmarking score 248,368 on AnTuTu. In comparison, the Mate 20 Pro that includes the same specs and QHD+ resolution display salvaged a marvelous score of 307k on the benchmarking platform. The Magic 2’s AnTuTu score is also lower than the recent Snapdragon 845 driven smartphones that have made it to the top 10 listing of best performance Android phones in September 2018.

Multiple listings of Honor Magic 2 have been spotted on Geekbench. One of the listing shows the smartphone scoring more than 10,000 points in the multi-core test. Then, what could be the reason behind Magic 2 fetching lower AnTuTu scores than the Huawei Mate 20 Pro that is packed with similar specs? The Mate 20 Pro AnTuTu listing was shared after its launch which suggests that its 307k benchmarking score could belong to its final production unit. The Magic 2 is slated to go official on Oct. 31. This indicates that the Magic 2 handset that has been benchmarked on AnTuTu could be its unoptimized pre-production unit.

AnTuTu’s Weibo account also states that the Honor Magic 2 could be available in variants like 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. Through TENAA it has been revealed the phone’s highest configuration variant will feature 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. Other features of the smartphone include in-display fingerprint scanner, a pair of TOF sensors 3D facial scanning, 16-megapixel front camera, 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel + 16-meagpixel triple rear cameras, superfast charging and 3,400mAh battery. The Honor Magic 2 will be sporting a manual slider design and it is expected to arrive in Black, Silver, Blue and Red color variants.

Samsung is regaining lost ground in China with new market strategy

Samsung has recently lost its number uno position to Xiaomi in India. However, recent reports have revealed that the South Korean tech giant is working on a strategy to dethrone Xiaomi in the country. In China too, Samsung is now aggressively employing its new strategy of targeting the mid-range smartphone market to regain its lost glory. In Q4 2017, it was ousted to 12^th position in terms of smartphone market share in China. However, a fresh report reveals that its new strategy has allowed the company to reenter the top 10 list.

One of the reasons why the company lost its market share was that it continued to sell high-end phones with hefty price tags whereas Chinese counterparts started selling flagship phones with cheaper pricing. The Galaxy Note 9 that arrived in China with a starting price of 6,999 Yuan (~$1,006) was met with lukewarm response soon after its launch. Also, Chinese smartphone OEMs also began offering flagship features on mid-range smartphones.

The South Korean company has recently launched the quad camera Galaxy A9s and Galaxy A6s with respective starting price of 3,499 Yuan (~$503) and 1,799 Yuan (~$259). Huawei sold Mate 20 series phones worth 100 million in just 8 seconds

Huawei recently launched its flagship Mate 20 series of smartphones. The series includes Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X, and Mate 20 RS Porsche Design.

The official launch of the Mate 20 series in China was held on 26th October and went on sale on the same day. Now, the company has announced that it managed to sell the Mate 20 series phones worth 100 million in just eight seconds.

In the peak moment of the Mate 20 series sale, the traffic on the Huawei Mall website reached around seven million users in just 10 seconds, a record high for the company. The Chinese company also said in order to manage such high amount of traffic, Huawei Cloud utilised its second-level elastic scalability to expand resources in such a short period of time.

In addition to this, the company also recommended accessories to the users with the help of Huawei EI Smart Recommendation service, which users artificial intelligence and big data technology. This also helped the company increase the conversion rate on its platform.

Besides Huawei Mall, the Mate 20 series devices were also available for purchase through third-party e-commerce platforms. Data provided by Suning Tesco reveals that majority of the purchase for the Mate 20 series were from males, which accounted for 78.8 percent while females accounted for 21.2 percent. 46.7 percent of the buyers were aged between 26-35 years while the buyers aged 36-45 years old accounted for 23.14 percent.

The Huawei Mate 20 costs 3,999 Yuan (approximately $576) for the 6GB + 64GB model while the 6GB + 128GB model is priced at 4,499 Yuan (approximately $648). The Mate 20 Pro costs 5,399 Yuan for the 6GB + 128GB model and goes up to 6,799 Yuan (approximately $979) for the top-end 8GB + 256GB model.

Huawei Honor Magic 2 Geekbench listing appears ahead of launch

On Oct. 31, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor will be taking off covers from the Honor Magic 2 flagship smartphone. Its variants for China with model numbers such as TNY-AL00 and TNY-TL00 were recently approved by TENAA. Today, the model number TNY-AL00 has appeared with key specifications on Geekbench.

According to the Geekbench listing of Honor Magic 2, it features an octa-core processor that has a base frequency of 1.8 GHz. Even though the name of the processor is not clearly mentioned on its TENAA listing, the company has already confirmed that it is fueled by Kirin 980 chipset.

The SoC is coupled with 8 GB of RAM. It will be the first Honor phone to arrive with Android 9 Pie OS preinstalled. In single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, the Honor TNY-AL00 has respectively scored 33160 and 9534. The beasty performance of the Kirin 980 is quite evident through Magic 2’s Geekbench scores.

The TENAA listing of the smartphone has revealed that its 6 GB RAM edition will be equipped with 128 GB of inbuilt storage. On the other side, the 8 GB RAM variant of the phone that has been spotted on Geekbench will be featuring 256 GB of native storage.

The Magic 2 phone will be featuring a 6.39-inch AMOLED display that produces Full HD+ resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels. The handset sports a manual slider design similar to the recently announced Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 smartphone. It measures 157.32 x 75.13 x 8.3mm and weighs 209 grams. It is packed with a 3,400mh battery.

For photography, the Honor Magic 2 includes 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel rear-mounted triple camera unit. A 16-megapixel front-facing coupled with two TOF sensors are available on the slider of the smartphone.

In a new claim, a recent leak suggests that Microsoft was way ahead of other manufacturers as they created a dual display device in 2015. Well, Microsoft has not said anything official, but via a new leak, it appears the Redmond giant has created a dual display device. Both the displays were joined together with a screen cover which acted as a bridge between the displays. Microsoft designed it back in 2015 but could not make it to the public during the launch of Lumia 950Xl.

Though, it appeared entirely different from Andromedia concept with a more significant gap between both the displays. It was created to end the limitations of primitive smartphones and to bring multitasking, more room for entertainment, etc. Microsoft wanted it to be a more productive device for its users. It was a practical solution for the problems that users were facing in those days.

In the official statement, Microsoft research said, “We describe a concept smartphone Display Cover, a secondary screen designed to improve productivity and convenience. Motivated by user research highlighting some of the limitations of current smartphones, the aim of this concept was to explore a practical solution which allows users to be more productive.”

Well, now other manufacturers have started developing flexible displays to brings such devices in the market by next year.
