Yesterday, we reported that Oppo is currently working on a 10GB RAM variant of its flagship smartphone Find X. We even confirmed the development with the TENAA specifications listing showing the 10GB RAM model with 256GB of internal storage.

Now, AnTuTu benchmark score of the Oppo Find X 10GB RAM model has surfaced online. However, the device scores just 271,362, which isn’t as high as one would expect. But given that the benchmark score is from an engineering unit, we expect to see improved score in the final retail unit.

Currently, the smartphone comes with 8GB of RAM and two options for internal storage — 128GB and 256GB. We are not expecting to see a drastic difference in terms of performance in the 10GB RAM variant compared to the original 8GB RAM model.

Apart from the upgrade of 10GB RAM, rest of the specifications of the upcoming Oppo Find X model remains the same. It features a 6.42-inch AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

The highlight of the phone is that it comes with a motorised slider which houses the 25-megapixel front-facing camera as well as 3D face sensing sensors, which the company prefers to call ‘O-Face Recognition’. Even after a year of taking pre-orders, RED is unable to deliver the Hydrogen One titanium version. Talking about the delay in a forum post, Red Digital Cinema founder and chief executive officer Jim Jannard admits that “the first run of Ti [was] a disaster.” On the other hand, Hydrogen One Aluminum version will start shipping by the end of October. RED is facing some production hurdles which has led to some delays in the shipping date.

Unlike the Aluminium version, RED Hydrogen One Ti has not received any launch timeline, despite ordering it 14 months ago. RED is usually known for its cinematic-quality cameras. Many popular titles were shot using the RED cameras. Red Hydrogen One is the company’s first approach to enter into the smartphone market.

In order to settle down the customers for some time, RED has decided to offer an aluminum version free of cost to the Ti variant buyers. Talking about it, Jim Jannard CEO of Red Digital Cinema, added that later they would ship the Titanium version also without any additional cost.

According to the company’s CEO, Jim Jannard, suppliers assured the RED that they would provide enough material to fulfill preorders of the Ti model. It was revealed earlier this month that Huawei has got a new smartwatch in the works when the watch was certified in Europe. The smartwatch adopts the moniker Huawei Watch GT but details of the wearable device were not revealed. The Watch GT has now reportedly been certified by the FCC. This time around some details of the device also tags along on the certification page.

The Huawei Watch GT is revealed to pack a 410mAh battery which is slightly smaller than the battery capacity of the Watch 2 with a 420mAh battery. However, the battery size is pretty impressive. Moreso, it is bigger than the 291.8mAh cell onboard the latest Apple Watch 4. Despite the big battery, the Watch GT will also support 5W charging using a charging pad. The charging pad utilises a USB Tye-C port.

Other features revealed to be on the Watch GT includes a GPS and as such will come with several fitness-focused features. The smartwatch is also expected to come with NFC support. Renders show the Google Pixel 3 XL in Black, Mint, and White

This year, the Pixel 3 XL is expected to launch in three colors, unlike its predecessor that is available in only two. In addition to white and black (no Panda this year), the Pixel 3 XL will also come in Mint (Green). Waqar Khan has made renders of all three color variants based on latest leaks and rumors.

The Pixel 3 XL will maintain the two-tone finish as previous gen models. However, as we have seen in HD unboxing videos of the phone, the two-tone finish of the white variant isn’t as distinct as the one in these renders. Also, the power button is mint green and not orange.

The black variant of the render matches that of the Pixel 2 XL but we doubt Google will stick to the exact same design this year. We absolutely dig the Mint Green version. The color is sort of retro like the refrigerators of old. Is it me or does this variant of the Pixel 3 XL match with the Elvis Presley Atomic Player?

The Pixel 3 XL will come with a single rear camera like its predecessors. However, the entire back of the phone is made of glass and not part metal and part glass. At Xiaomi Smart Living product launch event in Bengaluru, India, along with the Mi Band 3, the China-based company also launched a few other products, including the Mi Air Purifier 2S, Mi Home Security Camera 360, and Mi Luggage.

The Mi Air Purifier 2S comes with a compact and minimalist design that elegantly blends into the household environment. It features an OLED display which displays the precisely determined PM2.5 levels in real-time, along with the humidity and temperature.

It comes with a built-in ambient light sensor which automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness. With its 360-degrees cylindrical filer structure, the company says that the air purifier can suck in air from every direction and deliver at a high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of up to 310m^3/h, meaning it can circulate clean air entirely for a 21m2 room in just 10 minutes.

The Mi Air Purifier 2S can be remotely controlled using the Mi Home App, Google Assistant as well as Amazon’s Alexa. It will be available for purchase in India from 28th September for a price of Rs. 8,999 ($124) through Mi Online Store, Flipkart, and Amazon India.

The Xiaomi Mi Home Security Camera 360 can provide 24×7 home protection with 360-degree coverage of the entire house. It comes equipped with night vision, intelligent motion detection, and real-time two-way talk. It also supports 1080p Full HD video capture and playback at any moment.

It offers two types of storage options — microSD cards of up to 64GB and NAS devices. Mi Home Security Camera 360° 1080p will be available for purchase via Mi.com, Flipkart and Amazon from 10th October for Rs. 2,699 ($37).

The Xiaomi Mi Luggage, the company’s new product in the travel category, comes with a sleek and durable design. It is made from Makrolon, a polycarbonate material, and comes with a specially-designed TSA-approved combination lock to ensure the security of all your valuables and documents.

It comes with an ergonomic handle and supports 4 different height adjustments for individual comfort. It will be available in two sizes — Mi Luggage 20 and Mi Luggage 24, from 10th October via Amazon, Flipkart, and Mi.com. The Mi Luggage 20, priced at Rs. 2,999 ($41) will come in Red, Grey, and Blue colors while the Mi Luggage 24, costing Rs. 4,299 ($59), will be offered in Grey and Blue colors.

Xiaomi India’s giant light mosaic Mi logo clinches Guinness World Record

Xiaomi India has clinched another award but it is in any way related to smartphones or any other products. The company just got its first Guinness World Record and it is for building the largest light mosaic in the world. The mosaic light used to create in a colourful way, the popular Mi logo.

The mosaic light was formed by assembling 9,690 bulbs basically made up of two colours; white and orange. Arranging almost 10k bulbs is no mean feat especially as there is great attention to details with the orange bulbs perfectly carving out the Mi logo in its correct pattern from the white bulbs.

The Mi logo light mosaic is presently mounted on the terrace of Xiaomi India’s new head office in Bengaluru. It is an initiative of the Brand Marketing team at Mi India and we must add that it is a clever one. It is an embodiment of Xiaomi’s innovativeness not just in smartphones aspect but also in other aspects. Clinching the Guinness World Record is good publicity for Xiaomi. Xiaomi says the light mosaic design symbolizes the collective contribution of its employees and Mi fans, who have all contributed to the overall success of the brand. The project further highlights the brand’s effort towards pursuing unconventional modes of marketing and promotional techniques, which sets it apart from most other smartphone brands. We recall how the Mi Power Bank was exhibited using models at the New York Fashion Show last year.

Vivo Y81 with 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM arrives in India; Official confirmation yet to arrive

In the previous month, Vivo had launched the Vivo Y81 smartphone in India. The handset had arrived with a pricing of Rs. 12,990 (~$179) and it included 32 GB of inbuilt storage and 3 GB of RAM. In the past week, the pricing of the phone was slashed to Rs. 11,990 (~$165). A Mumbai-based retailer has revealed that the Chinese manufacturer has launched a higher variant of the smartphone with a price tag of Rs. 13,490 (~$185).

The new variant of the Vivo Y81 has an inbuilt storage of 64 GB and 4 GB of RAM. Apart from these changes, its other specs are same as the 32 GB model of Y81.

The Vivo Y81 features a 6.22-inch IPS LCD display that produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The notched display supports an aspect ratio of 19:9. The screen is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass. The MediaTek MT6762 chipset clocks at 2.0 GHz. There is a microSD card slot on the phone for additional storage.

The Vivo Y81 has 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual camera setup with LED flash on its back panel. For shooting selfies, the Chinese manufacturer has included a 5-megapixel selfie camera inside its notch. The handset is loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo OS and FunTouch OS 4.0. For connectivity, the handset is equipped with features like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, microUSB and 3.5mm audio jack. The handset also features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The color variants of the Vivo Y81 include gold and black.

The 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM variant of the Vivo Y81 is yet to appear on the online store of Vivo. Probably, the official confirmation on the 64 GB Vivo Y81 will be confirmed by the company in the near future.

LG V40 hits Geekbench, unfortunately it’s running Android 8.1 Oreo

LG released an official teaser for the V40 today ahead of its release next week. The teaser confirms the phone will come with five cameras – triple rear cameras and dual front-facing camera. The teaser leaves nothing hidden about the design of the phone but didn’t say anything about the specs. Now the LG V40 has been seen on Geekbench and we are not so pleased.

The LG V40 will come with the Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform (sdm845) under its hood as shown in the benchmark result below. It will also have 6GB of RAM. However, the phone will come with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box which is disappointing.

By the time the LG V40 launches next week, it will be two months since the launch of Android 9.0 Pie. When it eventually goes on sale it will be almost three months since Android Pie was released.

LG’s track record when it comes to speedy delivery of updates isn’t great even for its flagships. The LG V30 didn’t get updated to Oreo until December, four months after Android Oreo was released and after the phone, itself was announced. The LG G6 didn’t get updated to Oreo until April 2018, eight months after Oreo was announced.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro with 6.26-inch 19:9 display and SD 636 SoC goes official in Thailand

After weeks of leaks, Xiaomi has now officially released the Redmi Note 6 Pro in Thailand. The mid-range smartphone is the successor to the Redmi Note 5 Pro but it’s not a major upgrade.

In Thailand, the phone is priced at 6,990 baht, which roughly converts to 1,499 yuan or $216. It comes in three color options to choose from — Black, Blue, and Rose Gold.

In terms of design, the phone comes with an aluminum unibody design while the upper and lower parts are made of plastic to provide a better antenna signal transmission. The phone still has a 3.5mm headphone jack but the company has opted for a micro USB port instead of USB Type-C port.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro features a 6.26-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, which is slightly bigger than the Redmi Note 5 Pro‘s 5.99-inch display. Unlike its predecessor, the phone comes with a notch on top of the display.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor — the same chipset that powers the Redmi Note 5 Pro. It packs 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, along with a microSD card slot that enables you to further expand the phone’s storage capacity.

Coming to the camera department, it bears a dual-camera setup on the back, with a primary sensor of 12-megapixel with Dual Pixel autofocus and f/1.9 aperture, and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor for depth sensing. Interestingly, on the front side too, the phone has AI Dual Cameras, with a 20-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. There’s also support for Portrait Mode and Face Unlock feature.

The phone runs Android Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MIUI 9 on top. It comes with the usual set of connectivity options and is fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery with fast charging support, which the company says can last for two days on a single charge.
