Leaked hands-on of the gold and black variants of the Meizu E3 have appeared on Weibo. These images show the entire front and rear design of the Meizu E3. Also, a leaked photo showing the pre-sale price of the phone has also appeared on the Chinese microblogging site. It reveals that the E3 may be coming with a costlier pricing compared to the predecessor Meizu E2 phone.

As it can be seen in the below images, the Meizu E3 seems to be wearing a metal unibody design with matte finish. The vertically arranged dual rear cameras are placed on the top-left corner of the rear panel. The “mblu by Meizu” branding that was seen in previously leaked photos are not present on the new images. The upper and lower edges of the phone feature the antenna bands.

The right edge of the phone features a Power key at the top followed by a depression for the side-mounted fingerprint reader. The volume rocker is placed on the left edge of the phone. The frontside of the Meizu E3 is mostly occupied by the 18:9 aspect ratio display. The upper bezel of the phone houses a selfie camera, an earpiece and some other sensors.

A recent report had claimed that the 32 GB and 128 GB storage models of the Meizu E3 would be respectively priced at 1,499 Yuan and 1,799 Yuan. However, a leaked photo showing the pre-sale price of the phone reveals that the Meizu E3 will be costing 2,299 Yuan (~$363). Interestingly, early rumors had claimed that the handset will be available with the same pricing. It appears quite expensive compared to the 1,299 Yuan (~$205) pricing of Meizu E2.

The Meizu E3 is expected to arrive with Snapdragon 636 chipset and 6 GB of RAM like China’s Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. The Note 5 highest configuration model featuring 6 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage carries a pricing of 1,699 Yuan (~$268) which is quite low than the Meizu E3’s 2,299 Yuan (~$363).

The E3 is pegged to feature a 5.99-inch display that will produce FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels along with an aspect ratio of 18:9. It may arrive with 20-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual rear cameras that may include the Sony IMX363 sensor. Its 32 GB model and 128 GB storage models may respectively feature 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM. It may house a selfie camera of 8-megapixel. A 3,300mAh battery coupled with 20W fast charging may power the phone. Several new images of what appears to be the real Meizu E3 have surfaced to reveal its design and features.

The frontside of the phone is mainly occupied by the display. Above the screen is the selfie camera, an earpiece and a sensor. The second snap shows that the depression present on the right edge of the Meizu E3 could be the side-mounted fingerprint scanner. The antenna bands are placed on the upper and lower edges of the back panel.

The third image does not seem to match with one of the leaked photos that had revealed the rear design of Meizu E3. The previously leaked photo had shown that the vertically arranged dual camera setup along with ring-LED flash is placed towards the center of the back panel. However, the new photo of the rear side of the E3 shows that the vertically stacked dual camera lenses are placed on the top-left corner like the iPhone X. If the new image is true, the other image showing the back panel could actually belong to Meizu 15.

The other set of leaked photos shows the Meizu E3 sitting placed inside a protective case. The bottom edge of the phone seems to feature an external speaker, a USB-C port, a microphone and a 3.5mm audio jack. The older Meizu E2 has a microUSB port on its bottom bezel.

The left side of the phone has the SIM card tray slot that may also house a microSD card. Below it is the buttons for volume up and down. The right edge of the phone features a fingerprint sensor and a power button.

Meizu E series that was introduced in 2016 are better specced phones than the Meizu M series. Hence, the Meizu E3 is likely to arrive with better specifications than the recently unveiled Meizu M6S. Rumors are rife that it may be driven by MediaTek Helio P70 chipset. Latest information suggests that the handset will be carrying a price tag of 2,000 Yuan (~$318). The leaked shots of the real Meizu E3 shows that it has a very sleek appeal and like the predecessor models, it could be also aimed towards young business people.

The Meizu E3 is expected to succeed the Meizu E2 in April last year. Hence, the probable reason why the rumor mill is now consistently releasing leaked photo of the E3 is that its launch could be drawing closer. It may launch in March or April this year.

It is expected to succeed Meizu E2 from last year. A leaked image showing the back panel of the Meizu E3 had revealed that the smartphone would be arriving with a different design compared to its predecessor. Today, a new image of the smartphone has appeared to reveal its front view.

In the above image, the Meizu E3 seems to feature a full screen design. This suggests that the handset will be supporting an aspect ratio of 18:9. The corners of the Meizu M6S are more rounded than the device shown in the above image. Hence, the above image does not seem to belong to the Meizu M6S.

The bottom portion of the handset has an on-screen Super mBack button that was first introduced on the Meizu M6S phone. The image also shows a portion of the back panel. The placement of the rear camera cannot be seen in the new image.

The image that had surfaced in the last week had shown the Meizu E3 would be blessed with vertically arranged dual rear cameras. Below the camera module it features the ring-LED flash. This suggests that it won’t be featuring horizontally arranged quad-LED flash unit that was introduced on the Meizu E2. Like the Meizu M6S and the rumored Meizu 15 Plus, the upcoming Meizu E3’s fingerprint sensor will be integrated under the Power button.

As of this writing, the specifications of the Meizu E3 are under the wraps. Even though rumors have claimed that the Meizu has ditched MediaTek, it has been recently confirmed by the Chinese smartphone manufacturer that it will continue to use MediaTek SoCs Some sources have claimed may be powered by the upcoming MediaTek Helio P70 or Helio P40 chipset. It is speculated that the Chinese manufacturer will launch the Meizu E3 in March this year with a pricing of around 1,299 Yuan (~$206).

It was launched with a distinguishing design as it came with quad LED flash arranged horizontally on the upper antenna band. A leaked image of the Meizu E3 has surfaced today. It reveals that the smartphone will be not only sporting a dual camera setup but also a different design compared to its predecessor.

The rear view of the alleged Meizu E3 shows the presence of a vertically arranged dual camera setup and below it is a ring LED flash. The rumored E3 appears to be wearing a full metallic body. The antenna bands can be seen on the top and bottom edges of the phone

It is speculated that the E3 may sport a full screen design. This suggests that it could be yet another phone from the company after Meizu M6S and the upcoming Meizu 15 Plus to feature side-mounted fingerprint reader.

It is also expected to feature the pressure-sensitive Super mBack button that was introduced on the Meizu M6S. The handset seen in the leaked image could be a prototype of Meizu E3 as it does not feature the branding of the company. As of this writing, there is no information available on the other specs of the phone. MediaTek is expected to debut the Helio P70 and Helio P40 chipset at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018. Hence, there is a possibility that the E3 may include Helio P70 or P40 chipset.

It is speculated that the Meizu E3 may debut in March this year. The E2 smartphone had arrived with a pricing of 1,299 Yuan. Hence, it is speculated to arrive with a similar pricing.

This is the first time the M6 Note’s real photos are making the rounds and quite aptly, it doesn’t look too spectacular but there are some interesting features coming on the mid-range smartphone.

One major thing we can take out of the leaked photos is the dual camera setup at the rear which makes the M6 Note only the second Meizu device to have such after the Pro 7. We have already seen the sample photo shot by the Note 6’s rear cameras and it shows potentials of a setup with a fast focus. Another unique design is the LED flash at the rear which is a similar quad-LED flash as used on the Meizu E2. The LED flash is located directly on top the antenna band line. This sort of confirms an earlier leak that the device would feature the same flash as the E2.

Read More: Meizu EP52 Wireless Headphone Launching Alongside The M6 Note

The leaked photos only capture the rear view of the device but we have already seen the front view of the device in an earlier leak and it looks very much like the M5 Note and previous Meizu model. Another thing we can take out of the leaked shots is the presence of the 3.5mm audio jack, a non-removable back cover and the USB port which isn’t a USB-C port.

The M6 Note is expected to feature a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with Full HD resolution and will be powered by MediaTek’s latest mid-range Helio P25 chip with the Mali-T880 GPU firing up the graphics. The processor will be backed by 3GB of RAM on some models while others will have 4GB of RAM coupled with either be a 32GB and 64GB storage variant respectively. A device purported to be the M6 Note was spotted on Geekbench recently with a Snapdragon 625 processor. We can’t say for sure if the device is real or not but if that is launched, it would be an interesting addition.

While the specs aren’t out of the ordinary, the E2 takes a different path in terms of design. The main change is the rear quad LED flash which lies on the top antenna line. A leaked image shows that the Meizu M6 Note set for an August 23 launch will also have quad LED flash.

[envira-gallery id=”144795″]

The photograph shows the back cover removed so we can’t tell if it will sit on the antenna line too. One info it does reveal is that the dual cameras will be stacked on top of one another. Another image shows the front of the phone and it is not different from most Meizu phones.

Early leaks have revealed that the Meizu M6 Note will have a 5.5-inch FHD display and will be available in 3GB and 4GB RAM models. The processor of choice is Mediatek’s Helio P25, further confirming the notion that Meizu is Mediatek’s favorite buddy. Storage will be 32GB on the lower model and 64GB on the 4GB RAM variant. Battery capacity for the Meizu M6 Note is put at 4000mAh.

The phone will have Meizu’s mBack button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner and may also feature the new mCharge standard we saw in the Meizu Pro7. It should also launch with Android Nougat out of the box.

Pricing for the Meizu E2 starts at ¥1299 ($189) but new report says buyers may end up paying more.

The info comes from a Weibo account who shared a screenshot from a dealer stating that the Meizu E2 will go on sale on Monday for ¥1499 ($218). That is ¥200 ($29) more than the original price.

There is no explanation for the increase but some are speculating that the recent restructuring at Meizu may be responsible. The official site still has the price as ¥1299 for the 3GB + 32GB version and ¥1599 ($232) for the 4GB + 64GB version.

There is also report of a new color option called Panda which has a black front and a white rear. The new version will be priced at ¥1499 ($218) for the 32GB variant. It is possible that this is the version that is generating the rumor of a price increase.

The Meizu E2 features a 5.5-inch FHD display, a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with a four-LED flash, and an 8MP front facing camera. There is a 3400mAh battery under the hood that supports 18W fast charging and a fingerprint scanner that also doubles as a home button.

We had predicted that the design may soon get copied by other smartphone brands but what we didn’t bargain for was that it would be so soon. A new Nubia smartphone with a similar flash design has been spotted on Weibo. This time around the device sports a dual camera setup along with the strip flash.

While we are not sure of the authenticity of the leaked image, it looks very much like the Nubia Z17 Mini which was launched recently, except for the flash design. The leaked image shows the strip LED flash is sill located on top of the antenna line but this time around it is at the left side of the cameras unlike the Meizu E2 which was located on the right.

Meizu and Nubia once shared something in common and that is the small circle which is used to identify the location of the virtual home button. But Nubia later applied for a patent for the design and so Meizu had to change to its latest mBack button. There is no way to tell if we are looking at a similar scenario here but whatever be the case, the Meizu’s latest smartphone was the first device that we first saw the strip LED flash design on. Nubia’s co-founder Ni Fei has even denied the existence of such a design, though, but the company is confirmed as launching a new smartphone, the Nubia Z17 which is tipped as packing a Snapdragon 835 chip soon. We’ll have to wait and see if this design will feature on the upcoming device.

The Meizu E2 comes with a design that is honestly innovative that you’d wonder why the company didn’t reserve it for a flagship model. But then, that is perhaps a sign of more innovative design concepts to come because Meizu is yet to release its 2017 flagship. Meizu still didn’t announce the elusive Pro 7 which is expected as its next flagship.

No doubt, the biggest highlight on the E2 is the strip LED flash it uses which is located right on top of the fused antenna line. The unique flash has four LED lights inside which should increase illumination but we are yet to see the camera samples to know how it performs.

The rear camera is also located on top of the antenna band. The E2 uses an all-metal body design manufactured using the nano-injection moulding process. The body is coated using the sandblasting process in order to give it a fine look. The edges are trimmed off using the CNC diamond cutting process. The E2 also feature very narrow bezels at the sides which are just 0.025mm thick. The device also has a slim body which is 7.5mm thick and weighs 155g.

The rest of the E2 specs include a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a MediaTek Helio P20 chip, 3GB RAM + 32GB storage one version and another with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. The storage is the low eMMC 5.1 version o all models. The Meizu E2 also packs a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP sensor up front. Keeping the lights on is a 3400mAh battery. Yes, it is called the E2. The new smartphone is the first to deviate from the old and already boring design used by Meizu.

Meizu E2 Design

The major design change in the Meizu E2 is in the LED flash. It is the first of its kind and Meizu deserves some praise for it. Though it is sad that it might not get the recognition it deserves until one of the major manufacturers outside China copies it. *Help, I’m choking on this Apple*.

The Meizu E2 sports 4 LEDs for its rear flash which are embedded in the antenna line. The result is beautiful but we are curious to know how the increase in the number of LEDs affects the outcome of pictures.

The rest of the design remains more or less the same as previous models. The back is made out of metal with Meizu’s name sitting in the middle. The corners are rounded and the buttons do look like they are made out of metal too. The overall design is nice and the phone doesn’t appear thick.

Meizu E2 Specs

The Meizu E2 has a 5.5-inch FHD display and is available in two variants. There is a version with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and another with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. Both are powered by the Helio P20 processor.

The rear camera on the Meizu E2 is a 13MP f/2.0 sensor with PDAF and four LED flash. And for selfies and video calls, you get an 8MP shooter. The E2 has a 3400mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, dual SIM support, and full network support. There is also a fingerprint scanner positioned below the display under the home button.

Meizu E2 Hi Case

Meizu also announced a bunch of colorful cases it is calling Hi Case. The case is reminds us of the Nexus 6P with its raised rear camera design. It also has a slide that covers the LED flash and protects it when not in use. The Meizu E2 Hi Case comes in black, red, blue, and green.

The Meizu E2’s design has been sort of confirmed when the images and specs of the device appeared on TENAA. The E2 design seems to also have featured in a leaked Powerpoint screenshot which seems to be out of the launch venue. The PPT document shows the Meizu E2 would come in different colour variants.

While the Meizu E2 is likely the device that would be launched tomorrow, there are speculations that Meizu may also unveil a flagship series smartphone, the Pro 7 tomorrow. Fans of the Meizu brand have been waiting for the Pro 7 for a while now, with no end in sight to the wait. But some analysts are of the opinion that the Pro 7 might be launched along with the E2 just the same way its predecessor, the Pro 6 Plus was announced along with the M3X in November last year. We can’t say for sure but it is a possibility since there is a precedent.

A Weibo user, Monday leaked the likely specifications of the Pro 7 and there is really not much difference from earlier leaks. The Pro 7 will have a 5.2-inch 2K display with its highest version equipped with 6GB of RAM. No mention was made of the processor but the device is said to pack a 12MP rear camera, a 3500mAh battery and run Android 7.0 Nougat-based Flyme OS. The Meizu Pro 7 is also said to come with a comprehensive screen design and Meizu’s mCharge fast charge technology.

The Pro 7 is said to start at 2699 Yuan which is the price the Pro 6S launched with. But recently, the Meizu Pro 6S which is the latest in the lineup got a 200 Yuan price cut. This could be a way to offload the remaining stock before the launch of a new flagship. We can’t be so sure, so we’ll wait and see what the event plays out.

The event should include at least a launch of one smartphone and that is the Meizu E2. The official Weibo account has been littered with teaser posters these past few days. There have also been lots of leaks about the device. After filtering the distractions this is what we think of the Meizu E2 and what we expect tomorrow.

What Will It Be called? Meizu E2, Meizu M4E or Meizu M3E Pro?

Flashback to Q3 2016. Meizu was preparing to launch a new device. The name Meizu E was being thrown around. Initially we thought it was for a smartwatch, then new leaks said it was going to be a new line powered by the Exynos processor since Exynos starts with an “E”. To cut the long story short, we finally got to know the name was not Meizu M1E or Meizu E but Meizu M3E.

The same scenario is playing out again and we don’t want to be caught off guard. Since the last time Meizu fooled us with the E tag was for the launch of the M3E, we guess this new phone is a direct successor to it. So we presume tomorrow’s device is either going to be called the Meizu M4E or the Meizu M3E Pro (Plus).

New Design

Meizu’s VP, Li Nan had stated in a Weibo post that the company had a phone scheduled to launch later this month with a new design. It turns out the new design is not a complete overhaul of the phone but limited to the LED flash on the back.

Meizu has positioned the rear camera and LED flash on the antenna line. But what is special about the design is that unlike the Honor V9 (or Honor 8 Pro) that employs the same layout, the Meizu’s E2 LED flash is laid out like a car’s LED headlight and that is because there are more than two LEDs. There are actually four LEDs for the flash.

Honor V9

Meizu E2

The rest of the design remains the same like previous Meizu phones. The Meizu name sits in the middle of the metal back and there is the mBack button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor up front.

Meizu E2 Specifications

When news of the Meizu E2 started floating around, it was from a sighting on the Chinese communications website. The listing showed two variants, M741Y and M741A with support for 18W fast charging. Those two variants were also listed on TENAA’s website today and the explanation is that one will run YunOS while the other will run Android. That explains the Y and A ending their model numbers. Apart from that, there isn’t any difference between the two devices.

The E2 will have a 5.5-inch 1080p display, a 2.35GHz processor (probably the Helio P20/P25) and be available in 2GB, 3GB, and 4GB variants. Storage will also vary depending on the RAM. So you get 16GB, 32GB and 64GB in the same order as the RAM above.

The main camera on the Meizu E2 is a 13MP shooter while the one up front is an 8MP sensor. Battery capacity is 3300mAh and there is an option for storage expansion.

Meizu E2 Price

The price for the E2 leaked last week and we were outraged that a 3GB phone would cost ¥1699 (roughly $250). Since the TENAA listing revealed a 4GB variant as well as a 2GB variant, we want to believe the price is for the 4GB model. We predict the 2GB model will be around ¥1000 ($150) while the 3GB model will sell for around ¥1299 (∼$189). Still a bit on the high side but that should be expected since Meizu said phones will generally cost more this year.

We are less than 24 hours from the launch of the Meizu E2 and we hope our predictions turn out right.

The highlight of the Meizu E2 is its unique LED flash which is integrated on the antenna line. The pictures provided so far show that the LEDs are more than two, but the exact number is not known. We counted four but some say there are 8 LEDs for the flash.

There are two models of the Meizu E2 ; one has model number M741A while the other’ model number is M741Y. We want to believe the “A” and “Y” stands for Android and YunOS respectively even though the TENAA listing shows YunOS for both models.

There is a 5.5-inch FHD display on the E2, a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP for selfies. The phone will be available in three memory variants, so buyers are spoilt for choice here. There ia 2GB+16GB version, a 3GB+32GB model, and a 4GB+64GB version. All three will be powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 2.35GHz. We still don’t know what chip it is but we presume it might be the Helio P20 or Helio P25 chipset. The three versions also support storage expansion via the MicroSD card slot (max. 128GB).

Under the metal back plate of the Meizu E2 is a 3300mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The dimensions are 153.7×75.7×7.5(mm) and weight is 165g. It will be available in black, silver and gold and will be priced at ¥1699 (¬$247). Initial response to the $250 price when it leaked wasn’t positive but now that we know there is a 4GB RAM version, we want to believe that it is the one with that price tag.

That’s just two days away. In the past week we have seen multiple images said to be of the device. And every single one of them sports a different camera and LED flash design.

First, there was the leaked image that showed the Meizu E2 would have a ring camera flash like that of the Nexus 6. It was followed by another image that had the camera sitting on the top left corner with the LED flash missing. Twenty-four hours later, a new image surfaced. This one had a design similar to a dual camera setup but is actually a single camera positioned beneath the antenna line. Fast forward to Friday and a fresh image with a new camera and LED flash design was released again.

We want to believe the last leaked image is the one Meizu is sticking to for the E2 as a leaked press image on Weibo by @Old Technology has the same design. In the new image, the camera sits on the same line as the antenna line.

The interesting part of the design is the LED flash which is integrated on the antenna band like jewels lining a cloth. It is a new take on the way the LED flash is designed but it looks really good. Zoom in on the image and you can see there are about four LEDs, all a mixture of white and amber. That’s a lot of light for a camera. The rest of the design is typical Meizu.

READ MORE: Meizu Pro 7 Coming This Month to Take On The Xiaomi Mi 6, Hints Meizu VP

The Meizu E2 is expected to launch with a 64-bit octa-core SoC, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 13MP rear camera. All these features come with a ¥1699 (~$247) price tag. It seems Meizu is charging for those extra LED lights.

The newly leaked image of the E2 is totally different in looks from the one that we had seen from a leaked video recently. Although we only have the rear view of the device on display, the difference is still obvious.

Recall that the camera on the previously leaked device alleged to be the Meizu E2 comes with a re-designed rear camera as well. The camera and flash were seen to be arranged in a horizontal plane and in a rectangular shaped housing located close to the top left edge of the device. This new one comes with a different camera design which is also tilted to the left corner of the phone. The camera is round and doesn’t have a ring flash, neither is there the regular rectangular-shaped flash. The device instead is shown with a flash that looks like a LED strip with about four LED lights.

Apart from the rear camera, nothing else is seen because of the protective casing in which the device is encased but there won’t be a rear fingerprint sensor as only the opening for the camera and flash are on the pouch. A recent leak gave the E2 as coming with a 5.5-inch display with 2.5D glass and will be powered by an unspecified 64-bit processor. It will also have mCharge fast charge and an mTouch fingerprint scanner. The device is also revealed to come with a price tag of 1,699 Yuan (~$247). We can’t verify the authenticity of this leaked image, so we’ll advise you take it with a pinch of salt.

An image showing part of the specs of the Meizu E2 and its price leaked yesterday. The phone will feature a 5.5-inch display wit 2.5D glass and will be powered by an unspecified 64-bit processor. It will also have mCharge fast charge and a mTouch fingerprint scanner. The rumor is that the Meizu E2 will be powered by the Helio P10 processor but since VP Li Nan already said the upcoming Meizu phone won’t be released with the old chip, we will take his word for it.

The big reveal is the Meizu E2’ price which is ¥1699 (~$247). While the rest of the specifications such as the RAM, ROM, battery capacity, and cameras are still unknown, some folks are saying the price is a bit high. April 26 is just five days from now, we have no choice but to wait and see if the rest of the specs justifies what Meizu is asking for.

This time around, the images are those of the device capturing the front view as well as the rear view. This is coming just a day after we saw what should be the first real live image of the device’s rear and its camera sample.

The images seem to have been grabbed from a leaked video and as noted on the first leaked image, the device comes with a re-designed rear camera. The camera and flash are arranged in a horizontal plane and in a rectangular shaped housing located close to the top left edge of the device. There is also a fused antenna band design located at the top and bottom end of the phone. The use of a fused antenna design hints at the device coming with a metal fuselage.

The front view shows the E2 will have a physical home button at the front but the button looks smaller than the ones on previous Meizu smartphones and would likely house the fingerprint sensor. It still comes with the same oblong shape, though, but has a unique looking design. The display comes with bezels on all sides and there is really nothing spectacular to note from the image.

The specifications of the Meizu E2 is still a mystery but we hope to see those as the launch date draws closer.

Although only the rear view of the device is revealed, we are not entirely sure about this being the Meizu E2 for a few reasons. First, the smartphone comes without a camera flash on the main camera, something which is rather weird. Earlier rumours had hinted that the Meizu E2 would use a ring flash that would be integrated with the camera but there is no sign of that on this leaked image. The rear camera lies on the split antenna band at the rear and talking about that, the device looks very much like the OPPO R9S design. Well, except that this one has the camera on the same plane with the antenna band while the R9S camera at the top of the antenna band. It could be that this is a re-designed OPPO R9s which someone wants us to believe is a Meizu brand by including a Meizu logo at the back

Also Read: Meizu E2 Coming With a New Camera / Ring Flash Design?

The design doesn’t in anyway look like that of Meizu and the only thing we could hold on to that this is a Meizu smartphone is the Meizu logo inscribed at the back. The device will be launched on April 26 and then we’ll know if this is the real deal. We think it is fake, though.

In a rather strange manner, we know little or nothing about the upcoming smartphone said to be the Meizu E2.

While we are yet to piece together the likely specs of the E2, a fresh tip has appeared which suggests that the Meizu E2 may not come with the same hardware features as found on other Meizu smartphones. The E2 is likely a mid-budget smartphone so, we really don’t expect much on the smartphone but seems Meizu has other plans.

The surprise package may likely be on the design features of the Meizu smartphone. According to a Weibo post by Meizu teasing the launch event, the post asked readers which feature they think would not feature on the smartphone. Of course, whatever would be removed would likely be an external feature. It is impossible to remove hardware like the camera. Also, if not that Meizu’ mBack home button is Meizu’s pride, we’d have guessed perhaps the physical home button is giving way to a virtual one. Again, this is a budget smartphone and so such sophistication isn’t expected.

Rumours are rife that the change may likely be on the camera where the flash might not be the usual flash located under the camera. It may also not be the ring flash which Meizu featured on the Pro 6, Pro 6S and Pro 6 Plus recently. Instead, the device is suspected to come with a newly develop camera/flash system where the flash is integrated into the camera unlike that on the Pro 6 where the camera and ring flash are separate. Meizu recently patented that and we saw the sketches from the patent document. Also, a Meizu smartphone with this setup was leaked recently on Weibo but we are not so sure about this.

Aside from this, we can’t say what else Meizu would likely be taking off the E2. We’ll definitely get to find out when the device is launched on April 26.

Barely two days after Meizu VP Li Nan hinted that the company is going to launch a new smartphone this month, the press invite for the launch of the smartphone is out. The invitation shows that the expected smartphone is a relatively unknown Meizu E2.

The press invite which is already displayed on Meizu’s Blue Charm Weibo page, reveals that the launch event would hold on April 26 at the Beijing Performing Arts Centre. The launch event will kick off at 15.00 hrs. Although the invitation did not categorically state that the Meizu E2 is the device launching, the inscription “E2” at the front nd even on the envelope shows the phone is the Meizu E2.

Read Also: New Meizu M612C Phone Shows Up At TENAA

While we don’t know anything about the design of the smartphone, Li Nan had promised us a smartphone with an innovative, attractive design. The invitation also contains the sketches of a phone’s front and rear panels believed to be those of the E2. The design is patently Meizu, as it has no major difference from previous Meizu works. Nothing is known about the specs except that a new Meizu phone with budget specs was recently certified by TENAA and could be this model. But then, it may not be that of the Meizu E2, so we look forward to the launch event.

But that has been shown to be a product that would launch towards the end of the year. Right now, two new Meizu smartphone models have appeared online after receiving 3C certification, showing some details.

The two models include the Meizu M741Y which had earlier appeared online when it received radio transmission approval and the M714A which we are meeting for the first time. As usual, the 3C certification page often reveals very scanty details and in this case, it shows the two Meizu models would come with 18W fast charge. The identity of the two models are still not clear but they are believed to be two versions of a particular model.

Specifically, the smartphones are touted to be versions of the Meizu S which is likely to drop next month. While one of the versions may run on YunOS, the other one may be Android-based. Also, the radio approval showed the model M714Y will have entire network support which is likely applicable to the M714A. Even though we think this may be the Meizu S, there are sources who say that Meizu will launch the Meizu E2 next month with a MediaTek Helio P25 processor onboard. So it’s possible this would be the Meizu E2.

So it’s possible this would be the Meizu E2 equipped with the Helio P25 chip which MediaTek just announced recently. The Helio P25 is an upgrade over the P20 built on a 16nm manufacturing process. The chip is an Octa-core SoC which brings in a substantial increase in data transmission efficiency while also reducing heat and power consumption. We’re not sure how true this is.

Meizu sure seems to have a lot of surprises lined up for release this year and more details or rumours about their products are still coming out. The first Snapdragon-powered Meizu phone is said to likely pack a Snapdragon 625 chip which analyst Pan Jiutang believes is good enough. The analyst also thinks there may be other Snapdragon models but not likely any flagship SoC. The details keep getting more interesting. We’ll certainly serve you more details as they emerge.
