The premium flagship will be on sale as from 10 AM on May 23, which is tomorrow. The Mi 6 Ceramic edition will be sold exclusively on Xiaomi Mall, unlike the standard version which sold simultaneously on Jingdong, Lynx, Tesco and others as well. This is obviously due to the limited quantity that is available.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 Ceramic version is the top-most model in the Mi 6 range. Apart from coming with a ceramic glass body, it is available in 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version only. The device also has an 18K gold-plated camera ring which adds to the already beautiful design. Do we need to remind you that the Mi 6 features a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor as well as a dual-lens camera at the rear?

Despite the premium build and well-studded hardware, the Mi 6 ceramic version is priced at 2999 Yuan (~$435). If you compare it with the price of the standard versions of the Mi 6 which are priced at 2499 Yuan and 2899 Yuan for the 64GB and 128GB variants respectively, you’ll agree the Mi 6 still remains a cheap flagship. Of course, you’ll definitely not get it at that amount outside China as third-party retailers will likely sell it for up to $100 more and even higher. That is if it becomes available in reasonable quantity to enable it to ship outside China. We expect the Ceramic version to be instantly sold out tomorrow.

In Xiaomi’s official website, the Snapdragon 835 chip onboard the Mi 6 was listed to feature an Adreno 540 GPU with a clock frequency of 653MHz. Whereas, the official Qualcomm listing for the SD 835 pegged the GPU frequency at 710MHz. This, thus, fuel speculations that the Mi 6 comes with a Snapdragon 835 chip with reduced frequency.

This question has remained unanswered since then but a Weibo user has shared a GFXBench result that shows that the Xiaomi Mi 6 was able to attain a GPU frequency of 710MHz and was even able to surpass that up to 800MHz. One wonders what sort of lapse could have caused this reduced GPU listed. Is Xiaomi trying to play safe? Perhaps, an official statement might emerge soon. We’ll keep you posted as usual here on Gizmochina if that happens.

As a recap, the Xiaomi Mi 6 features a 5.15-inch 1080p display and is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset backed by just 6GB of RAM on all versions. There is 64GB storage version, as well as a higher 128GB version. Both versions are expandable. The device uses a curved glass body with a metal fuselage and also comes with an anti-splash body.

The Mi 6 also comes with a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a 12MP main sensor and 12MP telephoto sensor. It runs MIUI 8 based on Android 7.0 Nougat and has a 3350mAh battery under its hood. The device is available in Blue, Black, White, Silver and Ceramic options. As far as the prices go, the Mi 6 will start at ¥2499 ($363) for the 64GB model and ¥2899 ($421) for the 128GB version. The special edition with a ceramic body and 128GB of storage will be sold for ¥2299 ($435).

In case you don’t know what an Oleophobic coating is, it is an anti-fingerprint (anti-smudge) coating on glass and ceramic surfaces which create an oil resistant surface that keeps dirt, dust, oils, and water. It doesn’t make it fingerprint proof, though, but keeps the grease at bay, not allowing it to adhere to the glass.

The coating is the reason why a simple wipe with a soft cloth will often leave the smartphone looking brand new, without the use of any extra cleaning solutions. Usually, if any normal glass has fingerprints on it, trying to wipe it with nothing but a cloth will only make the grease to spread across the surface without coming off completely. In that case, you may require some kind of cleaning solution to completely clean off the greasy screen surface. But the presence of an Oleophobic screen takes that away. Also, note that devices with Corning Gorilla Glass protection have their own coating.

The Mi 6 comes with an Oleophobic coating over its curved screen surface and that surface is put to test in this short video. One sure way to know if the display is still oleophobic is to sprinkle tiny water droplets on the display and if the coating is there, the water gathers into balls and rolls off the screen entirely. That is exactly what is done in this test and the result proves the Mi 6 has a functional oleophobic coating. The Oleophobic coating isn’t a permanent thing, though, as it wears off over time and the duration depends on the manner of usage. The good thing is that it can be recoated and it is something you can do yourself at home. We bring you hands-on photos of the elegant flagship device, so you’ll have a peek of the available colour options before they officially go up for sale.

The Mi 6 comes with a sleek design which is attractive, regardless of the colour it comes with. But we all have our personal likeness for certain colours and Xiaomi took that into consideration in making the Mi 6 available in other colour options other than the Rose gold, Gold, Matte Black options we are accustomed to.

As you would have noticed, the Xiaomi Mi 6 comes with a glass body but it still has a metal fuselage manufactured from stainless steel. It has a body curved on all sides both at the front and back, thus eliminating much of the bezels at the side of the displays leaving an ultra-thin bezel at the sides. There is a large bezel at the top and bottom edges of the device. The bottom bezel houses the underglass ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which first made its debut on the Xiaomi Mi 5S. The fingerprint sensor also doubles as the home button. The edges are also well chamfered and this along with the curvature at the back makes for an easy grip.

The Mi 6 comes with a splash proof body and does not have a port for the 3.5mm audio jack. Xiaomi took that off and instead included a USB Type-C port which would also be used for earphones in addition to charging and data transfer. One unique feature on the Mi 6 is the dual 12MP main + 12MP telephoto camera setup that the smartphone features at the rear. The camera samples shot by the dual cameras are just amazing.

There is doubtfully anything that isn’t amazing on the Mi 6 bearing in mind that it is powered by a ferocious Snapdragon 835 chip backed by a massive 6GB of RAM. For storages, you get a 64GB variant and a higher one with 128GB space. This post isn’t really about the specifications but the design so, here are more stunning hands-on images of the flagship down below.

The video teasers would likely be four episodes in total and the first which was released yesterday was the dual camera setup expected on the Mi 6. Now, the second video teases the Mi 6 as coming with a body design curved at four sides.

Xiaomi’s Mi 6 is expected to come with a curved design both at the front and the back. The curvature is likely going to be at the two sides on the front, and also at the two sides at the back making a total of four curves. From leaked images of the rear view of the Xiaomi flagship, we had seen the curved body on the back but we are yet to see a real image that goes beyond this and show the front view with its curvature. Earlier rumours had tipped the Mi 6 as coming with a flat screen but here is a new twist.

Not too log after we spotted the front panel of the Mi 6 in several leaks, more images of the Xiaomi Mi 6 front panel have appeared online. The latest leaked images are perfectly similar to the previous ones we have seen and they look very real.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is not only expected to pack a Snapdragon 835 chipset, it is also said to come without the 3.5mm audio jack and with a waterproof body. The Mi 6 is also said to feature an iris recognition and an opening for that is present in this recent leak. Another feature to note on the front panel is that the Mi 6 would have a display covering the entire screen and there is an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor which is on the oval-shaped home button. The leaked front panel images again show that the Mi 6 front display will have black and white bezels around the display, obviously on different versions but the bezels are ultra-thin.

Perhaps, the GFXBench listing for Xaiomi Sagit suspected to be the Mi 6 is the source for a more authentic specs sheet for the Mi 6. The Mi 6 is listed with a 5.15-inch display with a Full HD resolution. There are likely two CPU variants, both octa-core chips clocked at 2.2GHz and 2.4GHz respectively. There is no doubt this is the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 since the device is listed with an Adreno 540 GPU. The memory variants are likely a 4GB + 64GB combo as well as a 6GB + 128GB version.

A fresh set of Xiaomi Mi 6 renders have leaked online, this in High Definition (HD) images. The new set of renders shows both the front and the rear of the expected Xiaomi flagship. They are coming not too long after the Mi 6 appeared on GFXBench codenamed “Xiaomi Sagit”.

The new renders are consistent with the previously leaked renders of the Mi 6 even though it may not be a true representation of the final design of the Mi 6. First, the renders show the Mi 6 features a curved edge design at the rear. Where things get a little bit confusing is the actual location of the LED flash at the rear. While most of the renders place it at the left side of the camera, a supposedly leaked photo of the Mi 6 shows the LED sitting at the right side of the dual cameras.

The front view renders also highlight some key features, like the iris scanner that is rumoured to come with the flagship. The underglass ultrasonic fingerprint sensor is another feature highlighted but this one is a going to be a bit bigger than the Mi 5S’ and is said to be like the one the Huawei P10 features. The display will likely have a 2.5D curved glass above it and indeed, the Mi 6 will not have a curved screen but an entirely flat one.

Related: First Xiaomi Mi 6 Camera Sample Spotted

Recall that the Mi 6 is expected to come with a waterproof body with the 3.5mm audio jack removed. We can’t be so sure about all these renders. The Mi 6 may turn out looking a bit different in design but then, we’ll find out about that soon because the device will launch this month.

Since then, we have been inundated with rumours and leaks about the upcoming flagship. The latest leak is said to be sample image of the Mi 6 camera.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to come with a dual camera setup at the rear with the main shooter being a SONY IMX400 sensor, thus giving the prospect of a great camera. Even though we cannot verify the authenticity of the leaked image, it is still worth giving a shot. The image clearly indicates that it was shot on the Mi 6 with 5X optical zoom which shows the camera might have watermark effect. As for the picture quality, it comes out clear with a great attention to details even at 5X zoom.

Apart from a powerful camera sensor, the Mi 6 is expected with an equally powerful Snapdragon 835 processor backed by 6GB of RAM which would also assist the camera. The sample image might just be an attestation to the power of the camera which we dare not say is of DSLR quality until we see more official images. By the way, the Baidu post where the sample image was leaked is said to have been pulled off.

CEO Lei Jun’s words are the only confirmation that we have so far gotten about an April launch but that would be just enough to keep us in high spirit. The rate at which the leaks come out is another reason to believe a launch is nearby and now, there is yet another leak.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 front glass panel is the latest to leak and it comes in both white and black colours. The front panel reveals a number of details about the display size and possible type. From the images, we can gather that we won’t be seeing a Mi Mix-looking display panel on the Mi 6. The screen-to-body ratio isn’t looking very high but the display will likely have ultra-narrow bezels at the sides.

In addition, the opening at the top bezel area seems to confirm the likelihood of an iris recognition technology similar to the one Samsung featured on the Galaxy S8 and earlier models. There is the usual front camera opening and that of the OIS and then, a third opening that is likely the iris scanner.

Also of interest is the opening for the front home button which has an oval shape and looks unusually large. The Mi 6 is said to feature the underglass ultrasonic fingerprint scanner used on the Mi 5S but with a fast sensor and better user experience. The size of the fingerprint scanner is also bigger than that of the Mi 5S.

Related: New Xiaomi Mi 6 Images Crop Up With A Beautiful Front, Vertical Dual Camera Setup

The Mi 6 doesn’t disappoint at the rear either, as it packs a dual camera setup and a curved design. Don’t also forget that the Mi 6 is rumoured to come with a waterproof built and won’t feature the 3.5mm audio jack. It is almost certain that the device will come in black and white colours as we had first seen a leak of the box casing for the device which is presented in black and white, and now the front panels. We also expect other cool colours on the final product when launched.

Indeed, the Mi 6 holds lots of expectations from Xiaomi fans since it is the company’s first flagship for the year and there seem to be surprises aplenty.

Just yesterday, we got a leaked image said to be the Mi 6’s SIM card tray which reveals a stunning detail about the Xiaomi flagship. The SIM tray showed us that the Mi 6 would likely be water resistant and in effect be without the 3.5mm audio jack. While we are yet to digest that, a new rumour has emerged on Weibo hinting at the presence of an iris recognition technology among other features on the Mi 6. To buttress this, a set of leaked photo of the Mi 6 display glass panel and tempered glass protective cover were shown, revealing openings for the iris scanner at the front.

Also, the Xiaomi flagship is said to use a ceramic body which is similar to what the Mi Mix and a version of the Mi 5 featured. Although Ceramic glass will give the Mi 6 a more premium, sleeker look, it is slow to produce, so fans may experience scarcity of the device. We hope it gets featured on perhaps the topmost model only while we get a metal clad variant which is likely the case since the flagship is also rumoured to come with a colourful body.

Since the Mi 6 would be waterproof, it means the charging port has to be taken care of, literally covered up and Xiaomi will likely do that by making the Mi 6 charge wirelessly. A wireless charging feature is another innovative feature the Mi 6 is rumoured to pack. We don’t know for sure if that means it won’t have a wired charging feature, anyway.

Ahead of that launch, the Xiaomi Mi 6 pricing details have leaked online revealing the likely prices the various versions of the flagship device will sell for. The price list contains not just the Mi 6, but also the Mi 6 Plus which is probably the bigger 5.7-inch variant. Accordingly, the list reveals three memory versions for the Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus. The Mi 6 comes in 4GB + 32GB which is listed to start at 1999 Yuan ($290). There is also a 4GB + 64GB version listed with a 2,299 Yuan ($333) price tag and finally, a 6GB + 128GB version priced at 2,699 Yuan ($391).

On the other hand, the Mi 6 Plus is listed with 4GB + 64GB on its base version which would retail for 2599 Yuan ($377), a 6GB + 128GB version priced at 2,999 Yuan ($435). Finally, the Mi 6 Plus is listed with a top-end version with a fiery 8GB RAM and 256GB storage priced at 3499 Yuan ($507).

We can’t verify these price listing but if true, then the Mi 6 would be the cheapest flagship around considering that it packs a Snapdragon 835 chip, dual cameras and several other top-end features. We don’t know if the base versions will pack Snapdragon 835 chip or a lesser Snapdragon 821. Also, there are rumours of the Xiaomi flagship equally coming with several colour variants including the unconventional colours like red. We have a feeling the long wait for the Galaxy S8 and Mi 6 would be worth the while.

Indeed the Chinese smartphone giant has again come up with another stunning design, this time on the upcoming Mi 6. What is said to be renders of the Xiaomi Mi 6 has appeared online, perhaps giving us our first glimpse of the much-touted Mi 6.

Xiaomi Mi 6

The images seem to be of the ceramic variant as well as a gray-coloured version of the Xiaomi flagship and they are images of the device captured from the front and rear view. On the whole, the images resemble those of the Mi Note 2, bringing to mind earlier rumor that the Mi 6 would get a design similar to the Mi Note 2. Where there is a noticeable difference is that the Mi 6 seems to use a flat screen display as against the curved edge spec the Mi Note 2. Despite not being a curved display, the design is one with an ultra-thin bezel and high screen-to-body ratio.

At the rear, the device packs a dual rear camera setup which is tilted to the left corner of the device. There is a LED flash by the side of the camera but there is visibly no rear fingerprint scanner. Perhaps, the physical home button up front will have the fingerprint scanner.

The Mi 6 is said to come with SD835, 8GB of RAM, likely on the top-end model and three storage versions of 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB. The top end model uses a premium 3D ceramic design. The rear camera is listed as packing a SONY IMX400 sensor with support for 5-axis optical image stabilization. Finally, the likely prices of the different versions were also listed as follows; 1999 yuan ($289) of 64GB version, 2299 yuan ($332) for the 128GB version, while the 256GB version carries a price tag of 2899 yuan ($419).

Aside from the beautiful body design, the Xiaomi Mi 5 came with a well-studded hardware lineup crammed inside it. But one feature which made the Mi 5 stand out is the use of ceramic on one of the variants. The ceramic edition turned out to be very popular, such that Xiaomi now made it a routine in its flagships despite the low yield.

Xiaomi Mi 5

Now, popular analyst Kevin Wang has revealed via a Weibo post that the expected Xiaomi Mi 6 would feature a special edition with a ceramic body. Mr Wang who is the IHS Director of research in China isn’t known for frivolous tips but has some credibility, also revealed that US smartphone maker, Apple is also interested in using Ceramic glass on the iPhone and may do that next year.

As it stands, the production output for ceramic glass material is low but the post also hints at an increase in investment in ceramics in the industry, precipitated by the supply chain that would arise from the Mi 6 using the premium body material. Apart from the Mi 5, the Xiaomi Mi Mix also uses the ceramic glass body and there is no doubt it gave the device some class and added beauty. There is no doubt, the Mi 6 Ceramic edition would come on top of the pack but it is hoped that production capacity would be able to meet the demand it would generate.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is billed as Xiaomi’s next big thing and is rumored to come with a Snapdragon 835 chip onboard and a 5.2-inch display which isn’t likely a curved display. The display resolution is likely to have a 1080p version and a higher version with 2K resolution. There are also likely more than one storage variants with 4GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB and likely a top-end version with 6GB + 128GB.

Surprisingly, Xiaomi has managed to keep the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship under wraps for quite a long time. If you are familiar with the Chinese market, you would know that before the release of a major flagship device, you get most of the details about the model and even its variants. In fact, traditionally, by now, we should have come across multiple Xiaomi Mi 6 renders and leaks. But as you may have realized, this year, Xiaomi has guarded each and every detail about the Mi 6 pretty successfully. We don’t have a detailed specs list (apart from a few comments from analysts), no Geekbench or AnTuTu benchmarks and not even a basic sketch of the device. This means we could be in for a surprise when Xiaomi Mi 6 launches officially sometime in the next few weeks.

However, this doesn’t mean we don’t know anything about the phone. Considering the details revealed by analysts as well as a few leaks, we can build a basic picture of the Mi 6. So here’s everything we know about the Xiaomi Mi 6.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Design & Renders

Well, this is one area where we literally have no information on the Xiaomi Mi 6. There were a couple of images of a device claiming to be the Mi 6 circulating on Weibo, but it is most likely fake. You can check them below (or all images from here).

What we do know about the Mi 6 is that the phone will likely come in two design variants — one with a regular glass / metal body and another with a ceramic body. This is most likely going to be the case given that Xiaomi has experimented with ceramic body models (for Mi 5 Pro and Mi Mix) in the past and the latest news from China states that ceramic body production (which was a big issue last year) is going to be in good pace this year, thanks to the massive investment recently.

will the Xiaomi Mi 6 feature a Mi Mix like design?

But that’s about it. Whether Xiaomi will continue with a similar design language as the Xiaomi Mi 5S or will it go with something similar to the Xiaomi Mi Mix is something we still don’t know. It would be natural to go with a slimmer bezel design because that’s what everyone is trying to achieve this year.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Specs

Fortunately, there have been a lot of leaks and reports in this regard, many coming from popular analysts in China. First of all, note that unlike very early rumors which said Mi 6 might use SD821, almost all of the recent rumors, including comments from analysts confirm Snapdragon 835 processor on the Xiaomi Mi 6. Now, note that the there were also rumors about an underclocked SD835 ending up in the Mi 6, all thanks to the excessive demand by Galaxy S8 for the powerful version of the chip. But that doesn’t seem to be the case as the flagship is said to feature the powerful version of the chip. Further, it is even said that the Xiaomi Mi 6 will be the first Snapdragon 835 Chinese flagship.

As for the display, the Xiaomi Mi 6 is said to come with a 5.2-inch display with 2.5D glass on top. Don’t expect a curved display variant for the Mi 6, as that seems to be reserved for the Mi Note series, at least for now.

Now there are two versions rumored for the device, one with 1080p resolution and another with 2K display. The 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant should feature 1080p display while the 4GB + 64GB version should come with 2K display. Rumors didn’t shed light on a 6GB RAM version, but it’s very likely that we see a 6GB + 128GB variant of the Xiaomi Mi 6 at launch.

As for the camera, one report has said that the Xiaomi Mi 6 should feature a 12MP Sony IMX386 at the back. Up front, there should be an 8MP Sony IMX268 sensor for selfies. It looks like Xiaomi isn’t a big fan of a dual camera setup, unlike other companies like Huawei, LG, and even Vivo, who seem to be adopting it aggressively.

Mi 5S had an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, but will the Mi 6?

Another piece of information that we have got recently is that the Xiaomi Mi 6 may not feature an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Instead, the company could go for a Chinese partner for its fingerprint requirement. But we are not quite sure whether that’ll be the case.

Xiaomi Mi 6 Release & Pricing

The Xiaomi Mi 6 was expected to be released in February. That didn’t happen. Analysts have revealed March 2017 release for the Mi 6, but we are yet to hear anything from the company officially. Finally, the latest report from China reveals that the Xiaomi Mi 6 could be announced on April 16. A bit too late as compared to last year’s Feb launch, but given that the Galaxy S8, which is another device featuring Snapdragon 835 is launching only in April (a bit delayed as compared to last year), it’s very much possible that we may see the Xiaomi Mi 6 only in April 2017.

As for the pricing, almost every analyst has said that the Xiaomi Mi 6 Price will start higher than that of its previous generation. So, we may not see a 1999 Yuan ($290) launch. The starting price of the Mi 6 could be a couple of hundred Yuan higher this year and naturally, the higher-end models will end up with higher price tags as well.

So, this is all we know about the Xiaomi Mi 6. If the release is indeed in March (as some rumors say), then expect the first set of the Mi 6 teasers to crop up in the next couple of weeks.

The leakster has rumored that the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner which Xiaomi first featured on the Mi 5S would be missing on the Mi 6. Instead, Xiaomi would patronize one of the local manufacturers of fingerprint technology. The ultrasonic technology featured on the Mi 5S was manufactured by US company Qualcomm.

The tipster also revealed that the Mi 6 would be available in April. He also assured that the Mi 6 would pack Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chip just as expected. It is very likely then, that the Mi 6 would be released sometime in March if it will actually go on sale in April.

The device is said to be the first Chinese brand that would feature the latest Qualcomm flagship chip. The device is also rumored as launching next month but that has only heightened our confusion as a recent rumor tips that Samsung would reserve the first batch of SD 835 chip for its Galaxy S8 flagship, thus leaving no room for any other brand to use the latest chip early on.

However, a recent rumor hints that the Xiaomi mi 6 may use a clocked down version of the Snapdragon 835 chip in order not to be delayed by Samsung’s use of the full clocked version of the SD 835. Apart from the Xiaomi Mi 6 and Samsung Galaxy S8, the LG G6 is also rumored as coming with a Snapdragon 835 chipset and is already billed for release n February 26. But because of the shortage of the SD 835, the G6 is even now rumored as packing a Snapdragon 821 chip instead.

If infusing a clocked down SD 835 CPU ends up being the case, the Mi 6 would not be the first Xiaomi smartphone with a clocked down flagship chip. The Mi 5 was released with a clocked-down Snapdragon 820 chip and that didn’t in anyway hamper the success of the Mi 5.

The latest is from popular analyst and IHS director Kevin Wang who hinted that the Mi 6 may come with ceramic body.

The Mi 6 had earlier been tipped to launch with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chipset as well as pack an OLED display. A ceramic glass body is the latest high-end feature the device is being tipped to come with. Its predecessor, the Xiaomi Mi 5 had a version with ceramic body but Xiaomi did pull the plug off the production of that version last year because of its low yield and high production cost.

This would probably be on one version, perhaps the high-end version of the flagship in order for the device not to be flagued with issues of slow production. The Mi Mix which is the latest Xiaomi flagship with ceramic body is being bedeviled by low availability due to slow production output. Peradventure the rumored ceramic version of the Mi 6 also comes with an OLED display and the SD 835 onboard, it promises to be nothing short of a sleek beast. Do recall that there is said to be a lower version with 4GB RAM and Helio X30 chip in the works as well.

In a related news, the analyst also hinted that Xiaomi may announce its 2016 sales results this week. There are suggestions that Xiaomi did record up to 50 million units in sales last year which was a decline from the previous year. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun did acknowledge, though, that the worst time has passed and the company holds high expectations for this year 2017.

The latest rumor making the rounds is that the Xiaomi Mi 6 would be released in mid-March. The smartphone is also rumored to enter trial production next month.

Further, earlier rumors from China had suggested that the Mi 6 would have two versions in the aspect of processor. Before now, we had gotten rumors that the device will be the first Snapdragon 835-powered Chinese brand smartphone but now, it is said that there will be a second version with a MediaTek Helio X30 chip crammed inside. This is a rumor that we cannot confirm, because it is not the practice of Xiaomi to use a MediaTek chip on its flagship Mi series. Only the Redmi series had the tradition of featuring both Snapdragon and MTK chipsets.

Apart from the chip model, both the SD 835 and Helio X30-powered versions as rumored, also have certain marked features that differentiate them from one another, according to the leaked info. Some of the rumored features include that the Snapdragon 835-powered Mi 6 version would have two memory versions both using OLED panels and having 2K resolution. There is a 6GB +256GB version as well as a 4GB + 128GB version. On the other hand, the Helio X30-powered version comes in a 4GB + 64GB memory version. The base price of 1,999 yuan ($291) is also rumored to still be intact, while the higher versions are rumored with 2,499 yuan ($363) and 2,999 yuan ($436) price tags respectively.

Also, the Mi 6 flagship is still rumored to use the underglass ultrasonic scanner that made its debut on the Mi 5S and run Android 7.0 Nougat. In addition, the Mi 6 flagship is said to have an upgrade in its camera to a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor. The display is also said to have two versions; one is a straight or flat screen display, while the other is a curved display but both having different prices.

As the date draws nearer, more and more leaks are emerging out of the blues. The latest rumors surround the Mi 6’s versions and specifications. According to an online source, the Xiaomi Mi 6 will come in two versions, one with a flat display and another one with a curved screen display. Both versions are said to be equipped with the flagship Snapdragon 835 processor but neither of them will have dual-lens cameras at the rear.

Further, the leak source also reveal that the flat screen version of the Mi 6 would have just 4GB of RAM inside while the curved screen version will be topnotch, with 6GB of RAM which places it as the high-end version among the lot. The leakster also gifted us the likely price tags of the Mi 6, stating that the flat screen model with 4GB of RAM would come in at 1999 yuan, while the curved screen model with 6GB of RAM will retail for 2,499 yuan, 500 yuan higher.

Before this latest leak, an industry analyst had revealed that the Mi 6 trial production is expected to begin this month. He also disclosed that the device is expected with a dual-curved screen on both sides with a front fingerprint sensor that isn’t an ultrasonic one. There is also likely to be a 4,000mAh built-in battery crammed inside, with support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology. Recently, it has even been repeatedly rumored that the Mi 6 would end up making it as the first device both on the domestic scene and globally, that would be powered by the powerful chip.

Now, to further lend credence to this assertion, what is said to be the benchmark score for the Xiaomi Mi 6 has surfaced online and the score is fiery, to say the least. Although, the benchmark data isn’t coming directly officially from AnTuTu but it is said to be the AnTuTu benchmark score the Mi 6 ran on testing. The data showed the Mi 6 pulled a score above 210,000 points, specifically 210,329 points. If actually this is true, it means the Mi 6 will indeed feature the Snapdragon 835 chip onboard.

At present, no smartphone around had recorded a score in that region when they were benchmarked. The most powerful device of them all, the iPhone 7 Plus with the Apple A10 chip inside only achieved a score of 18,300 points when it was benchmarked. The OnePlus 3T which was released recently sporting the Snapdragon 821 chip scored only 16,300 points when it passed through benchmark test.

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is tipped to launch sometime n February, just a month away and really, we would like to see this fire power in real life action.

Lately, ASUS is tipped as planning to launch a new Zenfone flagship during CES 2017 and that the device will likely feature a Snapdragon 835 chip. If this happens, ASUS could as well trump Xiaomi and Samsung to the crown.

There seem to be no major contenders among the Chinese brands for who will first use the flagship chip, with only Xiaomi mentioned thus far. Well-known industry analyst Kevin Wang had earlier hinted that the Xiaomi Mi 6 would be the first Chinese brand that would use the Snapdragon 835 chipset and once again, the analyst has reaffirmed that position of his. Earlier on, Mr Wang had reiterated that the Mi 6 will not be affected by the low output of the Samsung 10nm node which is said to have prompted Samsung to shift the launch of the Galaxy S8 away from February.

Related: Xiaomi Mi 6 Specs & Release Details Leaked

Thus, it is very likely that the Mi 6 will not only be the first Chinese smartphone that would be powered by the flagship chip but also end up making it as the first brand globally that would feature a Snapdragon 835 chip onboard. Details on the likely specs of the Mi 6 has been scarce but the device is said to have a design that resembles a sized-down version of the Mi Note 2. The Xiaomi mi 6 is also rumored as packing a dual-lens camera at the rear as well as dual curved screen design. Xiaomi always doesn’t disappoint in the specs and designs of its smartphones and the Mi 6 is likely not going to be an exception.

The Mi 6 is Xiaomi’s expected next generation flagship and it has got a huge task fitting in as a worthy replacement for the highly successful Mi 5 series smartphones which comprise the sleek Mi 5, innovative Mi 5S with its Underglass ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and the dual camera packing Mi 5S Plus.

Yesterday, a leaked poster had teased what is thought to be the Mi 6 launch date, pointing at a launch on Valentine’s day (February 14, 2017). Yesterday also, a tipster said to be familiar with the Taiwanese mobile phone industry had revealed that Samsung foundry is experiencing some hitch volume-producing the 10nm chip for Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 processor. The tipster also revealed that the delay would likely affect the release of the Samsung Galaxy S8 billed for release in February at MWC 2017.

Also embedded inside the post are some leaked specs of the Xiaomi Mi 6 which includes design details like the Mi 6 having an ultra-narrow frame and four antenna. The Mi 6 is also detailed to feature dual lenses which are upgraded specs as well as Mi Charge which should be a specialized charging feature perhaps delivering fast charging. Don’t forget the Mi 6 had earlier been tipped as the first domestic brand in China that would use Qualcomm’s super powerful Snapdragon 835 chip. There were also earlier rumor of the Mi 6 coming in more than one version with each version having a different processor.

The Mi 6 was hitherto tipped as scheduled for release in February but according to the leakster, the flagship’s launch will now be sometime in April. It remains to be seen if these details are indeed correct as there’s still no word from Xiaomi about the rumored and much acclaimed Mi 6.

As we are already aware, the Samsung Galaxy S8 would be the first smartphone to feature the Snapdragon 835 processor and would likely be unveiled at MWC, 2017. Now, there are rumors also that the Xiaomi Mi 6 may be launched on Valentine’s day which is February 14.

A poster recently surfaced on Weibo which contained the Mi logo, a boldly written number 6, as well as the date and time of launch of the expected device. Although its not explicitly stated that it is the Xiaomi Mi 6 that would be unveiled on that day, the clues point to the Mi 6. We must point out that the poster could be a fake, as it seems to have emanated from @kjuma who is becoming notorious for fake leaks. All the same, we can’t be so sure about that.

Read More: New Xiaomi Mi 6 Rumors: May Come With Different Processors

The Xiaomi Mi 6 is touted to come as Xiaomi’s most powerful phone till date and would be fired up by a Snapdragon 835 chip as well as sport a curved display on one of its versions. Several versions are touted such as Mi 6S, Mi 6E and Mi 6P with each of them rumored to have different processors. Xiaomi is yet to officially release any statement about the Mi 6, so we’ll wait for words from China’s Apple.
