Yesterday, there were reports from some OnePlus 5 users who experienced their phones rebooting after dialing 911. The case is actually pretty serious as getting through to the emergency center can save a life and vice versa.
One user who took to Reddit explained that he had tried calling 911 when he saw a building on fire only for his phone to have rebooted. He was able to get the incident on video a third time.
Comments on the thread showed that he wasn’t alone as some reported that they also experienced it when dialing other emergency numbers such as 999 or 112 (Europe’s emergency numbers). Some also said they didn’t have the issue.
OnePlus has issued an official statement on the matter. They said they have contacted the customer and also posted an email address for other affected users to reach them on. The email address is [email protected].
The topic which has garnered much attention on Reddit has also revealed that the issue isn’t limited to the OnePlus 5. There were also complaints from multiple ASUS Zenfone users. The problem is said to be caused by custom manufacturer dialers not talking well with Android’s native phone framework.
YouTuber ‘Concept Creator’ released a concept video showing what the Nokia Edge may appear to be like if released. A quick summary of the device shows a bezel-less display with truly zero-bezel sides and super narrow top and bottom bezels on the display.
The general geometry and design of the phone appear to be inspired by Sony’s Xperia XZ with clean straight-cut top and bottom without any curved corners. The edges of the phone loosely resemble Nokia’s preceding Lumia models such as the Lumia 920 and Lumia 1020, with neatly rounded sides, whilst ignoring the tapering back its predecessors had.
Another interesting feature is the curved display that the conceptual model shows, although currently unusual for Nokia to adopt this feature, with current market trends and demand proved relatively high for curved screens like Samsung’s S8 or Xiaomi’s Mi Note 2.
Never the less, this conceptual device expresses a very sleek design (notably because of its bezels). What’s also notable is Nokia’s Iconic Logo imprinted at the bottom of the phone’s bezel. The single rear-firing camera also shows the relationship with previous design accents Nokia’s Lumia device had, with the sleek Nokia and Carl Zeiss branding accompanying the shooter.
In terms of color, the conceptual designer has included options of a black, light blue and dark blue options, which fit with Nokia’s current color theme. The video doesn’t clearly show what the material the device is cladded with, a logical guess would be a form of metal.
On the bottom end of the device there’s a USB C port (keeping up with current technology) with a set of grills located on both sides of the port, expectedly one being a microphone and the other speaker.
Interestingly, there is no physical home button on either the front or back of the device.

The Youtuber/Designer has also stated the conceptual device would feature a rear-firing 16-megapixel camera with a f/1.7 aperture, also noting the pixels would have relatively large at (1.5 µm). This concept continues to fit in the context that HMD Global – Nokia’s new collaboration with Carl Zeiss.
In relation to Nokia-related news, the anticipated Nokia 9 is expected to launch later this year, however, there has been no confirmation by the board when the release date will be.
It is exactly a week to the launch of MIUI 9 and Xiaomi has started recruiting beta testers. Although there is a long list of devices supported for the beta testing, only two or three, depending on how you see it will get the beta update first. Those devices are the Mi 6 and the Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm/Redmi Note 4X.
The number of devices supported for the closed beta testing this year is smaller than that of MIUI 8. MIUI 8 arrived earlier (May, 2016) and began closed beta testing with about 8 devices. MIUI 9 is not only arriving late, only four devices including the Mi 5X will actually get it first.
Before the closed beta testing is over and a public beta testing we may as well already be in September. After then will Xiaomi begin a stable roll-out to eligible devices.
Complete list of devices supported for beta testing are as follows: Mi 6, Mi 5s Plus, Mi 5s, Mi 5c, Mi 5, Mi 4S, Mi 4c, Mi 4, Mi 3, Mi 2/2S, Mi MIX, Mi Max 2, Mi Max, Mi Note 2, Mi Note/Pro, Mi Pad 2, Mi Pad 1, Redmi Note 4X (MTK), Redmi Note 4X (SD), Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 3 (MTK), Redmi Note 3 (SD), Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note, Redmi Pro, Redmi 4X, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4, Redmi 4 Prime, Redmi 3S/Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 2A, Redmi 2/Prime, Redmi 1S, and Redmi 1.
It is important to state that the beta version rolling out first is for the China ROM. Information regarding the Global ROM will be posted later.
Samsung relaunched refurbished units of the Galaxy Note 7 as the Galaxy Note FE earlier this month. Availability is still only in its home country for now (and in limited quantities) and there has been no official confirmation of it being available in other countries.
In spite of the recent launch of the refurbished version, Samsung still has hundreds of thousands if not more than a million units in stock that it didn’t relaunch with a smaller battery.
Those units will be recycled, and according to Samsung, it plans to recover over 157 tons in minerals including gold, silver, copper and cobalt from the process.
For those of you who don’t know, a ton is different from a tonne. 157 tons is equivalent to 142.42 tonnes. That is a lot of minerals if you ask me.
Other parts of the Note 7 such as displays, camera modules, processors and memories will be reused in other products. Some will also be used as replacement parts for damaged Note FE units.
The phone ships with all the usual stuff and some extras include a micro USB to USB C adapter, a tempered glass screen protector, a phone holder and a high-quality faux leather case.
DESIGN and DISPLAY
I think that the one of key selling points of the Gemini Pro an all-metal design and excellent build quality.
The phone does not look exceptional as we’ve seen this design before but it still looks great, the buttons are high-quality, and the phone feels comfortable in the hand due to rounded edges on the back.
As far as size of the device, we are looking at a standard 5.5” display phone. The 1080p resolution assures that the screen is sharp and vibrant but it could be slightly brighter for outdoor use.
We have customizable on-screen navigation keys, 8MP front facing camera, LED notification light and LED flash for night selfies.
I found the fingerprint scanner to be accurate and it unlocks the phone without any issues. However, the display could light up a little bit faster.
One of the highlights of the phone is a dual-camera setup that consists of two 13MP Sony shooters. One sensor captures colors, another is a monochrome sensor.
HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE
As far as specs go, we are looking at a pretty powerful package that includes a deca-core MTK6797 chip (2.6GHz), 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.
All the specs sound impressive but honestly, I’m not impressed with the gaming performance. You should expect quite a few skipped frames if you play some 3D games on the highest graphics settings. Also, the phone gets warm pretty fast.
BENCHMARKS
USER INTERFACE
As far as day to day performance, almost stock Android 7.0 assures that the phone is usually fast and fluid.
We have some extra features to play with. Just to name a few, you can change the colors of the LED notification light or use some gestures controls that work pretty well but sometimes the phone is kind of slow to respond to your gesture.
IMAGE QUALITY
As far as daylight image quality, I expected better results considering the fact that there is dual-camera setup. Sure, you can take some good-looking pictures but I would like to see more detail, sharpness and the dynamic range adjustment is inconsistent.
On the other hand, the portrait mode is quite good for a budget phone. The images will look just great on social media but there may be some artifacts going on. Also, some of the shots could be more detailed.
As for the low-light picture quality, it is decent but not really impressive like on most of the sub-$200 phones.
The selfies look great as the pictures are quite detailed. Sure, they could be a bit sharper but I think the pictures will look just fine on social media.
The 4k videos are recorded in H.265 format, which is not supported by my video editing software, so I could not show you the footage but you can download the original files using the link in the video description.
The 1080p videos look okay but there could definitely be more detail and sharpness. Also, there is no continuous auto-focus feature, same as in the 4k video.
The 1080p selfie video looks quite good for a budget phone. The sound recording quality is above average.
The loudspeaker quality does not impress but it is pretty decent. The sound quality via the headset jack is pretty good too, I have no complaints.
CONNECTIVITY
I didn’t have any connectivity issues with this device as the call quality and signal reception are pretty good, and even the GPS lock speeds and accuracy were okay.
The phone has quite a few sensors including a gyroscope, so you will be able to use the device with VR headsets.
BATTERY LIFE
The 3680mAh non-replaceable battery will let you use the phone for the entire day or more, depending on the usage. I could achieve a pretty standard screen-on time of about 5.5 hours, which is a decent result. What I noticed, however, is that the battery drains a bit faster than usual on standby mode but keep in mind that I have installed a lot of apps.
Finally, it takes about 1.5 hours to fully charge the phone with the supplied fast charger.
CONCLUSIONS
Ulefone Gemini Pro is yet another budget phone from China that has great specs, excellent build quality and it’s pretty fast and responsive.
However, keep in mind that the camera is lacking in some areas and gaming performance could be better considering an impressive spec sheet.
All in all, the Ulefone Gemini Pro offers quite a lot value but as always, make sure to consider a few shortcomings before buying it.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 features a glass back which is pretty attractive but also means that if your palms are sweaty or wet, you risk dropping your new phone. And we know the mini heart attack that comes with dropping a phone not to talk of the cost of repairs in case you are unlucky. To avoid that, Xiaomi has released a new protective case on its Mijia crowdfunding platform.
The new case is made by Guildford and is exclusively for the Mi 6 and it offers triple protection for the phone. The scratch-proof brushed back provides a strong grip when you hold the phone in your hand and is also resistant to fingerprint smudges. The way the case is designed, the cut-out for the camera isn’t flush with the phone. That way you can place your phone on its back and not have to worry about the lens getting scratched.
The Guildford Case is a mixture of TPU and PC and the inner side is lined with soft microfiber to prevent scratches. The corners of the case has an extra thickness to absorb shocks from falls.
Some of you might remember that there was an OPPO A77 released a few months ago. It seems that was for Taiwan as the company has launched another one with a different design and configuration. The new OPPO A77 can be said to have gotten a silent launch as there wasn’t a proper event before its appearance on the official site.
The major difference between this new OPPO A77 and the first one is the design of the rear camera. Th new A77 has a design that can be mistaken for dual cameras while in actual fact, it is just a single sensor and LED flash.
The OPPO A77 has a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 display. RAM is 4GB and built-in storage is 64GB. It is powered by Qualcomm’s msm8953 a.k.a. Snapdragon 625. The octa-core chip is clocked at 2.0GHz and has an Adreno 506 processor.
For optics, there is a 16MP front facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture, self-timer and 5P lens. The front camera can also take pictures with the depth-of-field effect making sure you are the focus of your selfie. It also has HDR just like the rear camera. The sensor at the back is 13MP with an aperture of f/2.2.
The OPPO A77 runs Android 7.1.1 out of the box with OPPO’s ColorOS 3.1 on top. There is a 3200mAh battery under the hood that OPPO claims should last up to 13 hours for video playback.
2016 was a bit rough for Xiaomi in terms of total number of smartphones shipped. However, things have picked up for them this year. A recent report says they shipped 23.16 million smartphones last quarter, an increase of 70% from Q1 2016. It also recorded a 328% growth in India for the first half of the year, making it the second smartphone manufacturer in India after Samsung.
These new milestones has led the CEO to set a target of 100 million shipments for 2018. CEO Lei Jun says its recent success can be attributed to its research and development efforts to make its smartphones stand out. New innovations has led to smartphones like the bezel-less Mi MIX.
Meizu’s July 26 event in China is for the Pro 7 flagship but alongside its launch, the company is also expected to release its first high-end headphones called the Meizu Flow. The Flow is expected to be the company’s most powerful headphones till date and naturally, with high-end hardware inside, you can expect the price to be quite high as well.
But how costly will be the Meizu Flow?
According to a leaked poster seen in China, the Meizu Pro 7 + Meizu Flow bundle will set you back as much as 6999 Yuan ($1035). If the poster is accurate, this basically means that the Flow headphones will be nearly as costly as the Pro 7 flagship! At such a price, the headphones need to be really, really good to find buyers.
One positive thing going for the Meizu Flow headphones is the recent comment from a senior hardware columnist and headphone enthusiast from China. Lin seems to have got the chance to try out the Flow headphones and he said that the quality is good. He adds that the headphones comes with a custom iron unit and that the price is not going to be cheap.
A recent leak revealed the design of the Meizu Pro 7 and it has a very striking resemblance to the high-end AKG K3003 headphones. Now, note that the K3003 is a premium headset, officially retailing for as much as $1000, although on sites like Amazon you can get it for a lot cheaper. Even if the design of the Flow headphones resembles the K3003, it remains to be seen whether Meizu can come close to its sound quality. If you remember, Meizu started out as an MP3 Play manufacturer, so it has years of experience in the audio field.
So, let’s see how good these headphones are at launch.
Meizu has officially confirmed that its next flagship smartphone, the Meizu Pro 7, will meet us on July 26 at the big event at the Opera House in China. We haven’t seen a high-end product from the company so far in 2017, which makes the Pro 7 an important model.
Thanks to the numerous leaks that have been going around the internet, we already know what’s new on the Meizu Pro 7 — a unique secondary display at the back. But till now, it wasn’t official. This seems to have changed now, as Meizu has released a few teasers for the Pro 7 and each of them seem to highlight the secondary window display on the upcoming flagship, essentially confirming it.
Further, teasers revealed by another official Weibo account of Meizu seems to be hinting at dual cameras on the phone. This means that we know for sure that the Meizu Pro 7 will have a secondary display at the back along with a dual camera setup.
According to previous leaks, the Pro 7’s secondary display will be a 2-inch E-ink screen and will support different modes such as black and white, music mode etc. The screen can reportedly be used even after shutting down the phone. It is further said that users can use the screen for photo previews, playing games etc.
The usability of the additional screen at the back will decide the fate of the Pro 7. Trying out a unique design is never easy and more often than not, companies pay a heavy price for deviating from the traditional design. We know how LG G5 differentiated itself with a modular design but failed to attract the attention of customers due to the lack of significant practical benefits of the new design. But LG V20‘s secondary screen looked promising and I hope Meizu has enough tricks planned for its secondary screen to make it attractive to customers.
We also have a basic idea about the internal specifications of the Pro 7. The phone is said to feature a 5.2-inch 1080p primary display up front with Helio X30 inside (finally!), 6GB / 8GB RAM options, 128GB storage, 12MP Sony IMX386 + IMX 286 dual camera setup at the back and a 16MP front camera. The price is expected to be 2799 Yuan ($414) and 3299 Yuan ($488) for the two variants of the phone. Note that these specs and pricing details are yet to be confirmed.
Expect more details on the Meizu Pro 7 in the coming days via official teasers. So, stay tuned to Gizmochina for more updates.

Yesterday, we had reported that Xiaomi will be launching the Xiaomi Mi 5X as well as the MIUI 9 update on July 26. The Mi 5X has been already listed on the online store of Xiaomi in China for registrations. The official listing of Xiaomi Mi 5X also carries three images of the smartphone.
The official images of the Mi 5X reveals that it would be coming in three color choices such as black, gold and rose gold. There is nothing special about the design of the phone as there is thick bezel above the display that features a selfie snapper and another thick bezel below the screen that features the capacitive buttons. The left and right sides of the screen are slim. As rumors have hinted, the Xiaomi Mi 5X can be seen sporting a full metallic body.
The bottom side of the phone has the standard 3.5mm audio jack, a USB-C or microUSB port and an external speaker. The right side of the phone has the volume rockers and the Power key. The backside of the phone has a dual camera module that is a dual-tone dual LED flash at the upper-left corner. The rear side of the Xiaomi Mi 5X also features a fingerprint reader. The top and bottom edges of the back panel feature the antenna lines.
Not many details are available on the specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 5X. Leaked poster that appeared in the previous week revealed that it has a 5.5-inch display that probably delivers full HD resolution. It is driven by Snapdragon 625 chipset along with 4 GB of RAM. It will be available for 1,999. It seems a lot of people are interested in the Xiaomi Mi 5X as over 200,000 people have registered for it. To be precise, 204,000 is the exact number.
Speculations indicate that the Mi 5X will feature a 12-megapixel dual camera system will include a Sony IMX386 sensor and a Samsung S5k3m3 sensor. Its frontal camera will be of 16-megapixel. And also, rumors hint that there will be higher model featuring Snapdragon 660 chipset and 6 GB of RAM.
The upcoming launch event for Xiaomi Mi 5X will be held on July 26 at Beijing National Convention Center. Xiaomi is signed up Kris Wu, a popular Chinese celebrity to promote the Mi 5X. On the same date, Meizu will be unveiling the Meizu PRO 7 flagship phone.
Motorola has couple of smartphones waiting for release such as Moto Z2, Moto Z2 Force, Moto G5S, Moto G5S+, Moto M (2017) and Moto X4. The company has already confirmed that will be a launch event on July 25. It has not confirmed the names of the smartphones that will be debuting at the upcoming launch event. Some speculate that the Moto Z2 and Z2 Force flagship devices will be unveiled on July 25. Others are of the view that the company may launch the Moto G5S and Moto G5S+ (Moto G5S Plus) smartphones. A leaked scanned photo of the Moto G5S Plus and its entire specifications have surfaced which suggests that is arrival is drawing near.
These leaked information have been revealed by Andri Yatim who has been spilling plenty of leaked information on upcoming Motorola phones. The Moto G5S and G5S+ will be introduced as improved versions of the original Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus phones that were unveiled during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in February.
The Moto G5S and G5S+ are expected to come to with a metal unibody design. Below the display of Moto G5S+ in the above image is the capacitive Home button that houses a fingerprint scanner. Above the display is the selfie camera and a dedicated LED flash for it. The back panel has a dual camera setup supported by dual-LED flash.
According to Yatim, the Snapdragon 626 chipset will be powering the Moto G5S+ along with 4 GB of RAM. It is expected to arrive with a native storage of 64 GB. It will arrive preinstalled with Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS. It will be coming with an LED enabled front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. A 3,072mAh battery will be powering the smartphone. It will be also supporting v4.2 Bluetooth
The Moto G5S Plus is expected to arrive in multiple colors like Gold, Grey and White Front with Silver / Gold rear. Leaked photos of the Moto G5S suggests that it would be arriving in trendier colors like Dark Blue, Grey and Gold. The leakster has previously revealed that G5S+ would be carrying a price tag of Rs. 17,999 in India which is around $280 in the United States.
LG has officially confirmed that it will be holding a launch event on Aug. 31. The LG V30 flagship phone is heavily pegged to get unveiled on the said date. A new flagship smartphone from LG has paid visit to Geekbench. The specs of this device suggest that it could be the LG V30 smartphone.
The LGE-LH932PR could be the LG V30 as it is powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset that includes a 1.9GHz octa-core processor. The SoC is supported by 4 GB of RAM and it is running on Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS. The alleged LG V30 has scored 1899 in the single-core test and in the multi-core test, it has recorded a score of 6350.
The LG V20, the flagship phone from last year, is the first non-Google smartphone to come loaded with Android Nougat OS. It is powered with Snapdragon 821 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It had scored 1554 in the single-core test and 3626 in multi-core test.
Rumors have already revealed that the LG would be coming with a 6-inch OLED screen. However, other sources claim that it would be featuring a 5.7-inch OLED screen. Whatever the size of the display of the LG V30, it will certain sport the Full Vision display that offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. It has been already leaked that the LG V30 would be measuring 151.4 x 75.2 x 7.4mm.
The secondary ticker screen has been the USP of the predecessor phones such as the LG V10 and LG V20. However, the upcoming LG V30 will be the first smartphone from the company to feature an OLED panel. The LG V30 is unlikely to feature a separate secondary display. However, the upper portion of the LG V30’s OLED panel will function like the secondary ticker screen to display all the notifications and other things. It is expected to function like Always-on Display feature available on recent Samsung flagships.
The LG V30‘s rear panel is rumored to be flanked with glass. This would make it possible to come with support for wireless charging. It would be sporting an IP68 certified body and it also feature a microSD card apart from the 64 GB internal storage. Other specs that it is expected to come on the LG V30 include rear-mounted fingerprint reader, 13-megapixel dual rear cameras and Android O.
Xiaomi announced the Mi Router HD with 8TB storage during its maiden appearance at CES 2017 in Las Vegas. Since then, the router has not be put up for sale even in China. But the company has now released a set of teasers that show the Mi Router HD will hit store shelves on July 20. The device will likely be available exclusively on Mi Home for its first sale.
Xiaomi did not disclose the price of the 8TB packing Mi Router HD or that of the 1TB version which it was unveiled along with. However, the company did reveal back then that the 8TB version will be less than $500 while the 1TB version will be less than $200. As a matter of fact, the Mi Router HD 1TB version has been released in China with a 1,299 Yuan price tag ($192). So, the 8TB version may sell for as high as 3,000 Yuan.
Having a hard drive capacity of up to 8TB isn’t the only highlight of the Mi Router HD. The Xiaomi Router also sports a new design consisting of a black aluminum alloy housing with 4 high-gain PCB antenna array. The router is powered by a Qualcomm IPQ8064 network processor and can reach up to 2600Mbps transfer speeds. n addition, the Mi Router HD can now sync with Dropbox in order to ensure your sensitive data is backed up.
Samsung won’t be making Qualcomm’s next flagship chip which is the Snapdragon 845. Nevertheless, it isn’t a total loss as it just secured the deal to build 7nm A12 chips for the 2018 iPhone according to The Korea Herald.
This is a big win for Samsung, considering it lost the deal for the Snapdragon 845 to TSMC whom currently makes the 10nm A11 chip for Apple. The reason for losing out on the Qualcomm deal is because it won’t be ready for 7nm production yet by the time Qualcomm needs them.
However, since a new iPhone is usually released in the 3rd quarter, Samsung would have enough time to prepare for production. The Korean electronics giant just purchased some extreme UV machines specifically to make Apple’s 7nm chips. Testing is on-going and will soon be completed. Production will then begin after Apple’s approval.
Samsung used to make chips for Apple before but lost the deal to TSMC in 2013. Now TSMC has Qualcomm, and Samsung has Apple back.
The Qualcomm deal is a loss considering 40% of Samsung Foundry’s sales last year was from the American company. Though there are speculations that Samsung may get deals for mid-range 10nm chips. Some manufacturers may also still release Snapdragon 835 phones next year.
This year, Xiaomi’s Mijia platform has crowdfunded a lot of interesting products. There is the planet tea cup, the red-dot steel pot set, the mini j refrigerator, and a bone china dish set. While those are kitchen related, it has also launched three eyeglasses and has announced a fourth one today.
The new glasses is made by Turok Steinhardt, the same manufacturer of the last two. While the previous ones were a pair of aviator sunglasses and an anti-UV glasses, this one is a pair of correctional glasses for those suffering from myopia.
There is however something special about this new pair of seeing glasses, and that is because it doubles as a pair of sunglasses too. It contains photochromic particles that automatically change color when you are outdoors, or when you are indoors and there is very bright light, serving as a pair of corrective sunglasses. So you can say this is 2 for the price of 1.
It also protects against UVA and UVB rays. The new Turok Steinhardt glasses is available in three different shapes and two colors that are stylish and comfortable to wear. The frame is light, weighing just 7.5g and has a temperature range of -30°C to 230°C.
Price for the Turok Steinhardt glasses is ¥300 ($45) and shipping is scheduled for 20th of August. You can also select the degree of curvature you want the glasses to have when you place your order. Buyers are also required to submit their optometry data to Turok Steinhardt’ WeChat’s channel, “TSanjing”.
Xiaomi released a teaser last week hinting at a new product for the Indian market. We already deduced that it was the Mi Max 2 and we were right. Xiaomi took the curtains of the new phone today.
The Mi Max 2 brings a few upgrades over its predecessor, the Mi Max. The display is still 6.44-inches and the resolution is kept at 1080p. One of the key changes is replacing the Snapdragon 650 for the power efficient Snapdragon 625, an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz.
The Mi Max 2 has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. One of the SIM slots doubles as a miroSD card slot and can accept up to 256GB cards.
The camera on the Mi Max 2 is a 12MP Sony IMX386 sensor. There is a 5MP camera up front for selfies and a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. The battery also got a bump from 4850mAh to 5300mAh and only added 0.1mm in thickness.
The Mi Max 2 comes with Android 7.1.1 out of the box and will be available in matte black with a fingerprint resistant coating. It will go on sale on July 20 on Xiaomi’s official website and at offline stores first. Then on July 27 it will be available across Xiaomi’s online and offline partners stores. Reliance Jio users will get 100GB of 4G data plan upon purchase of the Mi Max 2.
Huawei’s Honor brand unveiled the Honor 9 last month but what you probably don’t know is that the flagship phone was launched along with two smart IoT products. The Honor Smart Body Scale and the Honor Air Quality detector were both announced on that day and were billed to go on sale on July 18. The sales for the Honor Air Quality detector has now opened on Huawei Mall (Vmall).
The Air quality detector comes with a tumbler design and allows monitoring of air quality. The gadget captures clean air level and a number of other parameters. The Honor Air Quality detector works in real time and can detect more than 300 types of volatile organic compounds. The detector can also detect ultra-fine particles (PM 2.5) in the air, temperature and humidity inside the room and then provide recommendations to aid in improving the air quality.
In addition, it comes with an energy-saving mode which can preserve the battery for up to 5 days, but in real-time monitoring mode, the battery only lasts up to 15 hours. If it is only to monitor the temperature and humidity, you get up to1 year battery life. The Honor Air Quality detector is presently on sale at Vmall for 599 Yuan ($88). It is available only in Snow white colour.
An official poster released today by Xiaomi announced that the Xiaomi Mi 5X will launch on July 26. It also mentioned that the new version of Xiaomi’s custom ROM, MIUI 9 will debut on the device.
Ahead of the official release, we have been getting leaks of MIUI 9, even from the official MIUI account. Last week there were images of the new split-screen feature, and today we got an exclusive preview of a new official theme.
The image shows the lock-screen with a new material design wallpaper, and also the homescreen. The major change in the homescreen is the dock bar. The icons have a flat design and don’t have texts beneath them, giving them a clean look.
Xiaomi says MIUI 9 will come with three new themes that you can choose from when you are setting up your phone after the update.
Apart from the official theme reveal, the Mi Max 2 also receives the split-screen feature. However, this is still limited to those running the developer ROM. The feature is available in the MIUI Global Developer 7.7.1.3 update. So if you own a Mi Max 2 and you are on the developer ROM, you can download the update here.
