LG V90 trademark reveals company’s long-term plan for the flagship lineup

Earlier this year, LG launched two smartphones — LG V30S ThinQ and LG V35 ThinQ as the company’s flagship smartphones. Now, the company is expected to launch the next-generation LG V-series flagship — LG V40 ThinQ later this year.

This development hints that after LG V40 ThinQ, there will be five more smartphones in the LG V-series as the company has now registered a trademark for LG V90 moniker in Mexico. Currently, there’s no more information available regarding the company’s future plan for the V-series smartphones.

Earlier, the South Korea-based company had said that instead of launching a flagship smartphone every year, it’ll launch new smartphone when it deems necessary. However, it is expected to launch the V40 ThinQ this fall.

The upcoming flagship smartphone is expected to come with an OLED display with over 90 percent screen-to-body ratio and a notched display that users can hide. Further, the device will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and will come with the company’s proprietary Quad DAC, and a dedicated Google Assistant button.

Interestingly, the LG V40 ThinQ is expected to arrive with five cameras out of which three will be placed on the back panel. The triple camera setup is expected to include 20-megapixel, 16-megapixel, and 13-megapixel sensors. The device is said to feature a super wide-angle lens and a super-telephoto lens.

There’ll be two cameras on the front for 3D face scanning for the advanced facial recognition feature, similar to what we’ve seen on Apple iPhone X, Oppo Find X and Xiaomi’s Mi 8. The phone is also expected to pack 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage.

The phone will run Android P operating system out-of-the-box with a custom interface on top. According to the reports, LG is expected to announce the LG V40 ThinQ in September and could start selling the device in October.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 gets 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant in China

Earlier this year, Xiaomi launched Redmi Note 5 Pro smartphone in India with up to 6GB RAM and up to 64GB internal storage. The company launched the same smartphone in China as the Redmi Note 5, with better specifications.

After launching the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage model of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in China, the company has now introduced a new variant that comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage, adding to the already available models — 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 64GB storage.

Even though the new variant comes with increased storage capacity, the pricing remains the same as 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model — 1,699 Yuan, which roughly converts to $250. It will be available for purchase in China from 27th July.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 comes with a Full HD+ display with screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 636 processor. It comes with AI Dual Camera that features a 12-megapixel primary sensor and a secondary sensor of 5-megapixel that captures depth.

The camera comes equipped with features like dual autofocus, EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization), HDR, Burst Mode and Panorama. It can capture amazing AI driven portrait shots by naturally blurring the background. Apart from shooting full HD videos, it can also record 720p slow-motion videos.

LG K11+ and K11α announced in Brazil

LG has announced “two” new phones in Brazil. They are the LG K11+ and the LG K11α. While both phones are new to Brazil, they are actually not new models. They are the same as the LG K10, K10+ (2018), and K10α (2018).

Both phones have a 5.3-inch 1280 x 720 display with bezels at the top and bottom. There is a MediaTek MT6750 on board with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage on the K11α and 2GB RAM and 32GB ROM on the K11+.

The K11+ also comes with a 13MP rear camera with background blur effect while the K11α has an 8MP rear camera. Both phones have 5MP selfie sensors. Nokia took the wraps off the Nokia X6 which it christened Nokia 6.1 Plus in Hong Kong last week signifying the global launch of the model. HMD Global has now unveiled the Nokia 6.1 Plus in Taiwan after teasing it last week. The mobile phone was unveiled alongside the Nokia 8110 4G which was launched in China last month.

The 6.1 Plus will go on sale across various channels in Taiwan from August 1 with a price tag of NT$ 8,000/€200. This is as high as the HKD 2,288 ($292) price tag with which the device launched in Hong Kong which is considered expensive. The Nokia 8110 4G will also be available to customers in Taiwan from July 25 with its price starting at NT$ 2,800/€80.

As a reminder, the Nokia 6.1 Plus features a 5.8-inch Full HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is fuelled by a Snapdragon 636 processor which is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage which can be expanded by an SD card up to 400GB. In the photography department, the smartphone sports a dual 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel camera with f/2.4 aperture on the rear and 16-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture on the front for selfies. Among these appliances are refrigerators. So far it has two already – the Mini J Retro Mini Refrigerator and the VIOMI Smart Refrigerator but a new report says it has another two in development and it appears these refrigerators will have the Xiaomi branding.

An exclusive report by Winfuture.de has revealed that Xiaomi has two refrigerators that it is co-developing with VIOMI. Evidence of the existence of the two refrigerators was seen on the Bluetooth SIG website.

The two devices are said to be a two-door and three-door “no-frost” refrigerators referred to as the “Xiaomi Mi Bottom Refrigerator” and “Mi 3-Door Refrigerator” respectively. Their capacities are also listed as 272 and 301 liters.

Both are much smaller than VIOMI’s own smart refrigerator which has a 450L capacity. We also can’t tell at the moment what the screen size will be for each of them. VIOMI’s own for example has a 21-inch touch-screen display. The refrigerators are also said to support Bluetooth 4.2 and Bluetooth 5.0 and also 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band for connectivity.

Honor Play gets first price cut, now comes with free Bluetooth speaker and wired earphones

The Honor Play is the first smartphone to come with Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology. Apart from the improved GPU performance, it also supports 4D gaming which is basically the user playing 3D games and experiencing physical effects (read vibrations) when there is an explosion, shooting, or quake in the game.

Announced back in May, the Honor Play has now received its first price cut since it went on sale. When it launched, the base model which has 4GB of RAM and 64G B of storage was priced at ¥1999 (~$295). Huawei has announced it will now sell for ¥1899 (~$280). It will also ship all orders with a free Huawei Bluetooth speaker and a pair of wired earphones that cost ¥109 (~$16) and ¥99 (~$15) respectively.

The Honor Play comes with a 6.3-inch screen FHD+ screen with a notch. It is powered by a Kirin 970 processor, the same found in the Huawei Mate 10, Huawei P20, and Honor V10. Apart from the 4GB model which got a price cut, there is a 6GB RAM + 64GB model.

Amazfit BIP and Stratos smartwatches launched in India, pricing starts at Rs. 5499 ($80)

Keeping its promise, Xiaomi-based Huami has today launched two new smartwatches in the Indian market — Amazfit BIP and Amazfit Stratos.

Both the devices, which come with multi-sport tracking, heart rate sensor and have built-in GP, will be available for purchase in India exclusively through online marketplace Flipkart.

The Amazfit BIP comes with a 1.28-inch color touch always-on reflective display with 176 x 176 pixels screen resolution and a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. It also has an AF coating that provides an at-a-glance view of time, date, steps, weather, sports stats, among others.

It also supports notifications for calls, messages, emails, and other apps. As said, there’s a multi-sport tracking that tracks runs, cycling, etc. with mapped routes and detailed stats along with heart rate zones with optical heart rate sensor.

As for the sensor, the device packs a 3-axis accelerometer, air pressure sensor (barometer) for elevation, a geomagnetic sensor (compass) as well as GPS + GLONASS for route tracking. It also comes with IP68 certification ensuring dust, rain and splash resistance. The device supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE for connection with Android as well as iOS devices.

The Amazfit BIP is powered by a 190mAh Li-Po battery that can provide up to 30 days of regular usage and up to 45 days of usage with minimal notifications. Weighing at 31 grams, the smartwatch has 20mm standard width changeable watch band.

On the other hand, the Amazfit Stratos sports a 1.34-inch always-on color LCD touch display with 320 x 300 pixels resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor along with 512MB RAM and 4GB of internal storage.

Similar to the Amazfit BIP, the Stratos also supports notifications for calls, messages, emails and other applications. It also supports multi-sport tracking for activities like running, walking, trail run, cycling, climbing, swimming, etc.

The device comes with an optical heart rate sensor for heart rate zones and VO₂max fitness level analysis. As for the sensor, it packs an optical heart rate sensor (PPG), tri-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, a geomagnetic sensor, air pressure sensor and ambient light sensor.

For connectivity with Android and Apple device, it has Bluetooth 4.0 LE and also has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g. It has 5 ATM water resistance rating up to 164 feet and 50 meters. It has a 22mm standard width changeable watch band.

The Xiaomi Amazfit BIP comes in four color options — Onyx Black, Cinnabar Red, White Cloud, and Kokoda Green and costs Rs. 5,499 (approximately $80). On the other hand, the Amazfit Stratos comes in Black color and is priced at Rs. 15,999, which roughly converts to $232.

OnePlus will roll out the drums on July 28 as it opens three new experience stores in India

Chinese phone manufacturer OnePlus today hinted that it would be cutting the tapes soon to unveil three of its latest experience stores in India. The event which would take place on July 28 at 11 AM will hold simultaneously in Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata. As a way of giving back to its fans, OnePlus will dole out gifts ranging from a OnePlus 6 phone, Marvel Avengers Iron Man case for the OP6 and branded t-shirts to the first 100 customers.

In order to be eligible for the draw where these prizes would be won, fans must register online. In addition, students will be offered the chance to win Back-to-School kit when they make purchases. The company will also be offering free OnePlus 5 or OnePlus 5T accessories for everyone who comes along a friend.

This is a clear indication of OnePlus’ ambition to expand its global reach including in India. Thus, it is no surprise that the OnePlus 6 offline sales grew by 91% when compared to that of the OP5. The Chinese firm is said to have mooted plans to expand its brick-and-mortar stores with at least 10 additional stores in 10 major markets. The company is also tipped as having plans to open an R&D centre in India.

Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite Global Market Availability

Xiaomi finally ended all speculations and rumours surrounding the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite with the launch of the duo in an event held in Spain. The popularity of the Mi A2 is traceable to the successful run of the Mi A1 which came out as Xiaomi’s first and only phone running stock Android. Xiaomi Mi A2 has now joined that train and along with it comes a new Mi A2 Lite.

When the dust generated by the launch finally settles, the next question would be the availability of both models. The Chinese company did not leave us in doubt as to the global availability of the models. According to details released by the firm, the Mi A2 will be available in 39 different countries cutting across six different regions of the world while the Mi A2 Lite will only be available in 36 different countries. The three countries where the Mi A2 Lite won’t be available are in the Asia Pacific and they include India, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

In the Asia Pacific, the Mi A2 will b available in Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Pakistan, Indonesia and a couple of other countries. The model will also be available in the following countries in Europe; Spain, France, Italy, Poland Bulgaria, Belarus, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey among others. Both models will also be available in The Middle East and Africa in Egypt, Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. While in the Americas, only Colombia and Mexico will get the models. Meizu 16 and 16 Plus TENAA listings reveal design and some specifications

Meizu will be announcing its Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus flagship smartphones on Aug. 8. The Meizu 16 duo have recently bagged 3C certification and now both the phones have appeared on TENAA. The TENAA listings of both phones also include some information on their dimensions, display and battery size.

The Meizu M882Q and M892Q handsets that have surfaced on TENAA is the Meizu 16 whereas the Meizu 16 Plus smartphones. As it can be seen in the TENAA images, the rear design of the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus are quite similar to the Meizu 15 phone that was unveiled earlier this year. Both the handsets feature vertically stacked dual camera setup and ring flash. The back panel of the Meizu 16 duo do not feature fingerprint scanner. The front panel of both phones are mainly occupied by the display. Meizu has already confirmed through a recent teaser that the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus will be equipped with .

The Meizu M882Q features 6-inch display and it houses a 2950mAh battery. Its dimensions are 150.5 x 73.2mm. On the other side, the Meizu M892Q that features 6.5-inch display and 3,750mAh measures 160.3 x 78.2mm.

The Meizu M882Q and M892Q smartphones sport slim profile of 7.3mm. These phones are expected to arrive with 18:9 aspect ratio AMOLED screens, Snapdragon 845 SoC and up to 8 GB of RAM.

The TENAA listings of the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus are expected to get populated with all their specs in the next few days. With nearly two weeks remaining for the official unveiling of the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus, the company is expected to reveal more information on these phones in the coming days.

Xiaomi Mi A2, A2 Lite Android One phones launched with ~$290 and ~$209 pricing

Through a global launch event today in Spain, Xiaomi has announced the arrival Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite smartphones. These are Android One editions of the Xiaomi Mi 6X and Redmi 6 Pro that were recently launched in China. Since Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite are Android One phones, they do not feature MIUI 9 custom UI found on Mi 6X and Redmi 6 Pro. Xiaomi has promised to that these smartphones will be receiving Android P 9.0 at the earliest.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Mi A2 features an arc-shaped aluminum unibody that has a thickness of only 7.3mm. The handset can be availed in colors like Gold, Blue and Black. It features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display that of 18:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The screen is tucked under a layer 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3.

The dual camera setup of the Xiaomi Mi A2 includes 20-megapixel Sony IM376 primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture and 2-micron 4-in-1 Super Pixel for capturing brighter shots in dim light conditions. The main sensor is assisted by 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 secondary sensor with 1.25-micron pixel and f/1.75 aperture. The frontside of the smartphone is equipped with 20-megapixel AI powered selfie snapper for capturing selfie shots with bokeh effect.

The Snapdragon 660 AIE powers the Xiaomi Mi A2. It includes a 3,000mAh battery that carries support for Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging through USB-C. The other features of the smartphone include Android 8.1 Oreo OS, rear-mounted fingerprint reader, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0. It lacks a 3.5mm audio jack.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Specifications and Features

The metal bodied Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite comes in color choices like Black, Gold and Blue. The handset is fitted a notched IPS LCD screen of 5.84 inches that produces an aspect ratio of 19:9. The screen delivers Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels.

The Mi A2 Lite has a dual camera module on its rear shell. It comprises of 12-megapixel primary sensor with 1.25-micron pixels and PDAF and 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The notch at the front features a 5-megapixel selfie shooter.

The Snapdragon 625 SoC that powers multiple Xiaomi phones is present under the hood of the Mi A2 Lite. Xiaomi claimed that it is the first entry-level phone to feature the SD625 chipset. The power-efficient SoC enhances the performance of 4,000mAh battery of the Mi A2 Lite. The company also stated that the battery can easily last for two days. The other features of the phone include Android 8.1 Oreo, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, 4G, microUSB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack.

Xiaomi Mi A2 and A2 Lite Variants and Pricing

The Xiaomi Mi A2 variants such as 32 GB storage + 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM are respectively priced at 249 euros (~$291), 279 euros (~$326) and 349 euros (~$408).

On the other side, the Mi A2 Lite comes in models like 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB. These variants are respectively priced at 179 euros (~$209) and 229 euros (~$268).

At the launch event, Xiaomi also introduced the Mi Robot Builder with 79 euros (~$92) pricing and IPX7 water-resistant Mi Toothbrush worth 29 euros (~$34).
