Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is scheduled for launch on October 25 at 14:00 hours in Beijing’s Palace Museum located in the Forbidden City. Today, it’s first night camera sample has been revealed, which looks super crisp and saturated even in a low light environment. It brings back the focus on Mi Mix 3’s ability to capture images in the night with its dual rear cameras. There’s also a front-facing 24-megapixel sensor dual cameras supporting slo-mo video recording at 960 frames per second.

Looking at the camera sample above, it can be seen that the camera quality has been improved drastically in the Mi Mix 3. The sample is giving us a hint that Mi Mix 3 camera will break all the records of Xiaomi devices. Further, full details are visible in the picture without any kind of noise. When Samsung had announced the Galaxy A9 (2018) smartphone earlier in this month in Malaysia, it had confirmed that select markets will be receiving it starting from early November. The same phone is expected to debut in China as Galaxy A9s today. India is also rumored to be one of the first markets to receive the Galaxy A9 (2018). According to 91 Mobiles, the smartphone will be announced in India on Nov. 4.

Samsung has recently released the Galaxy A7 (2018) triple camera smartphone in India with a price tag of Rs. 23,990 and now it seems to be prepping up on the Indian launch of the Galaxy A9 (2018) which is the world’s first smartphone with four rear-mounted cameras. It is less than a week before BBK-owned subsidiary OnePlus officially launches the OnePlus 6T. As expected, there have been several leaks surrounding the device and more are still coming out. The flagship smartphone has now shown up on the website of a German online retailing giant, OTTO. Unfortunately, the listing has been taken down but the link confirms that the OP6T was truly listed.

The listing basically confirms the presence of a 6.4-inch AMOLED display. The display is slightly bigger than that of the OnePlus 6 and has a resolution of 2340p x 1080p and a pixel density of 402ppi. TheThe listing also reaffirms the presence of an in-display fingerprint scanner and a waterdrop notch which houses a 16-megapixel selfie camera. The OP6T will also feature an upgraded dual-camera setup at the comprised of a 20-megapixel main sensor and a 16-megapixel secondary one. The camera equally comes with support for a variety of photography features including HDR Image and a new Night Mode for improved low-light shots. The camera sample shot by the dual cameras under low light condition was shared by OnePlus’ CEO recently and it was awesome.

Black Shark Helo launched: first phone with 10GB RAM & dual cooling pipes!

The Black Shark Helo is official! The Helo is the phone we thought would launch as the Black Shark 2. Black Shark doesn’t want to call this a direct successor to the Black Shark Gaming Phone probably because they have the same processor. This is understandable but that doesn’t mean the Helo isn’t worthy of the title. There are a bunch of significant upgrades, some which are appearing in a phone for the first time ever.

Design

The Helo has a completely different design from its predecessor. It still has an 18:9 display with a bit of bezel but it now has symmetrically designed front-facing cameras. The Black Shark Helo also has a green thin line that goes around the front and rear of the phone.

A large area of the back is covered in glass with the pattern from the original underneath. The area covered in glass is where you have the dual cameras which are now vertically arranged in a straight line with the LED flash and fingerprint scanner.

There is also the Black Shark logo which now glows thanks to the RGB LED underneath. That isn’t the only RGB LED on the device. There is one on each side of the frame that can change between 16.8 million colors with different effects based on the games you are playing.

Black Shark Helo Specs

The Black Shark Helo has a 6.01-inch 18:9 display. It is not just a tad bigger than the original but it is an AMOLED screen and not LCD. It also has a dedicated image processing chip that works with the AMOLED display for superior HDR quality. It also has support for DCI-P3 and SRGB for a wider color gamut.

The Helo might have the same Snapdragon 845 processor found in a lot of phones released this year but it is the first commercially available phone to have 10GB of RAM. It beats the Mi MIX 3, which is scheduled to launch on Thursday, to the title. The 10GB RAM version has 256GB of storage. There is a 6GB RAM version with 128GB of storage and an 8GB RAM version, also with 128GB of storage.

The original Black Shark gaming phone has liquid cooling to keep the phone’s temperature down while gaming. For the Helo, there are two liquid cooling pipes with a combined area of 10000mm². The cooling pipes can reduce the CPU’s temperature by up to 12°C and increases thermal efficiency by up to 20 times.

The Black Shark Helo has dual rear AI cameras – a 12MP primary sensor and a 20MP secondary sensor. The cameras can recognize up to 206 different scenes and take bokeh images. The front camera is a 20MP sensor that can also take portrait mode selfies. Sitting below the rear cameras is a fingerprint scanner.

The Helo has front-facing stereo speakers. The audio should be significantly better now, thanks to the larger cut-out for the top speaker (symmetrical with the bottom speaker). There is a Smart PA amplifier and Black Shark’s own Biso audio technology. It also has 3 microphones for clear calls during gaming. Black Shark says the Helo has improved signal reception thanks to its X+1 antennas.

Taiwanese manufacturer, HTC, has announced a new phone – the Exodus 1. The Exodus 1 is HTC’s blockchain phone that was in development a couple of months ago.

Design

The Exodus 1 is simply the HTC U12+ with a new name and a translucent gray design. Although, the official render and video advert show HTC has borrowed a leaf from Xiaomi‘s Mi 8 Explorer Edition. What you see are not the actual components of the phone but a printed plastic that covers the actual motherboard.

Specs

It also has the same specs as the U12+. So a 6.0-inch QHD+ display, a Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It has 12MP + 16MP dual rear cameras and dual 8MP front-facing cameras with bokeh.

The Exodus 1 comes with HTC’s BoomSound Hi-Fi audio and USonic Active Noise Cancellation. There is Edge Sense 2 which lets you squeeze the frame for pre-configured actions or activating the assistant (Google Assistant or Alexa). It also has an IP68 rating, single SIM support, and packs a 3,500mAh battery.

Software

The Exodus 1 runs Android Oreo but has a number of security features. There is a secure enclave isolated from the main operating system where your virtual cash and keys are stored. HTC says it will also store all your data in future. There is also the Zion Wallet for your cryptocurrencies.

The Exodus 1 is said to run decentralized apps on the blockchain and also has a Social Key Recovery feature for regaining access to your cryptocurrencies if you lose your keys.

3D-Printed Lithium-ion battery will allow batteries to come in different shapes

Most electronic devices such as cell phones, laptops, headphones and even electric vehicles are powered by lithium-ion batteries. The size of the batteries to a large extent, determine the size of the gadgets. That may soon change with the advent of 3D-printed lithium-ion batteries. According to a publication on the American Chemical Society, a group of researchers from Duke University have developed a new method to 3D print lithium-ion batteries in virtually any shape.

Lithium-ion batteries are usually cylindrical or rectangular in shape and that usually determine the shape of the gadget. When a manufacturer is developing a product, for instance, a smartphone, a certain size and shape must be dedicated to the battery. This usually limits the available space and restrict the design options available to OEMs to play with. 3D-printing technologies will bring this to an end as it allows manufacturers to fabricate an entire device, including the battery and structural and electronic components, in almost any shape.

As you may be wondering, 3D printers use polymers such as poly(lactic acid) (PLA), which are not ionic conductors, thus creating a major hurdle for printing batteries. That is where the research actually comes in. The ionic conductivity of PLA was increased by the researchers by infusing it with an electrolyte solution. In addition, the battery’s electrical conductivity was boosted by incorporating graphene or multi-walled carbon nanotubes into the anode or cathode, respectively. The battery’s potential was demonstrated with a 3D-printed LED bangle bracelet (pictured above) integrated with a lithium-ion battery. The bangle battery could power a green LED for about 60 seconds. According to the researchers, the capacity of the first-generation 3D-printed battery is about two orders of magnitude lower than that of commercial batteries, which is too low for practical use. However, they say that they have several ideas for increasing the capacity, such as replacing the PLA-based materials with 3D-printable pastes.

The Mi MIX 3 is one of the most anticipated devices launching this week. The Xiaomi flagship has been in the news a lot in recent times with the numerous leaks and official teasers floating around. However, we haven’t heard anything about the price until today.

An image has surfaced on the web that shows the alleged price of the Mi MIX 3. The image appears to be from the official online store as it includes the prices of other Xiaomi phones too. Based on the image, the Mi MIX 3 will be priced at ¥3700 (~$533) or more like ¥3699 since Xiaomi doesn’t use a round figure for its prices.

The above price is for the 6GB RAM variant and most probably the one with 128GB of storage. There should be a 64GB variant too with the same RAM and a 256GB version with 8GB of RAM.

The price tag isn’t unusual. The Mi MIX 2S with 6GB RAM and 128GB ROM was priced at ¥3599 (~$518) when it launched though you can now get it for ¥3199 (~$460). It isn’t out of place that its successor is priced slightly higher.

A leak from earlier today says the Mi MIX 3 will come with a 6.4-inch full HD+ display that covers nearly the whole of the front. Xiaomi will be debuting the Mi MIX 3 smartphone on Oct. 25 in China. The Mi MIX 2S that was unveiled earlier this year featured almost the same design as the Mi MIX 2 that was announced in September 2017, but it came with improved internals. Rumors surrounding the Mi MIX 3 have revealed that it will be arriving with a refreshed design along with powerful internals. Here is all the information on the specs and features of the Mi MIX 3 that have surfaced so far.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 Launch Event

Xiaomi will be holding the launch event for the Mi MIX 3 on at 2 PM (local time) on Oct. 25. The unveil event will be held at The Palace Museum situated at the Forbidden City, Beijing.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 Design

All the Mi MIX series of smartphones that have released so far have featured tri-bezeless design. The original Mi MIX, Mi MIX 2 and Mi MIX 2S have featured slimmer upper and side bezels. The selfie cameras on the Mi MIX series were placed on the bezel below the display. Hence, these phones have featured thicker bottom bezels. The upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 will be sporting a manual slider design. Since the front-facing camera of the MI MIX 3 is placed on its slider, the handset sports a super-slim bezels around the display.

The official image shown above shows that the bottom bezel is slightly thick, but considerably slimmer than predecessor models. The new design on the Mi MIX 3 certainly promises higher screen-to-body ratio of around 95 percent. The dual selfie camera unit and other sensors are also placed on the slider of the phone. Recent leaks have revealed that in order to unlock the phone, one needs to simply slide the display downwards and let the 3D face scanning sensors unlock the device. It will be also featuring a dedicated button the side that will give instant access to the Xiao AI voice assistant.

Initial reports have claimed that the phone will be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint reader. It was speculated to feature the same pressure-sensitive under-display fingerprint reader that was added on the Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro smartphone that was announced in the previous month. However, leaked photos that have shown the rear design of the phone have revealed that its will be resembling the Mi MIX 2S. In other words, the Mi MIX 3 may sport a vertical dual camera setup and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner like the Mi MIX 2S.

Xiaomi is also expected to release a special edition of the Mi MIX 3. It could be an artistic version and aesthetically beautiful version of the smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 Specifications and Features

The Mi MIX 3 is expected to arrive with a 6.4-inch S-AMOLED display that will carry support for 2340 x 1080 pixels Full HD+ resolution. The slide of the phone is fitted with LED enabled 24-megapixel dual selfie snappers. The backside of the Mi MIX 3 could be equipped with 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup.

Some leaks have also claimed that the unannounced Snapdragon 855 (Snapdragon 8150) could be the driving of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3. However, the company may settle with the Snapdragon 845 SoC that is powers most of the Android flagship phones that have released this year. Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi MIX 3 will be the world’s first smartphone with 10 GB of RAM. It has also revealed that the Mi MIX 3 will be world’s first 5G commercial smartphone.

The smartphone is rumored to be packed with 3,850mAh battery. Xiaomi MI MIX 2S was the first phone from the company to arrive with support for wireless charging. The upcoming Mi MIX 3 is confirmed to feature faster wireless charging technology. Hence, the smartphone is expected to carry support for 10W or 15W wireless charging.

The base model of the Mi MIX 3 is rumored to include 128 GB of storage + 6 GB of RAM. The other variants of the smartphone include 128 GB storage + 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage + 8 GB RAM. Emerald Green, Sapphire Blue and Black are the speculated color editions of the MI MIX 3.

The Meizu M8 Note or Note 8 as it will be known in China is scheduled to launch on Thursday, October 25. Meizu has announced the event will only be live-streamed due to an issue with the venue it planned to use. Yesterday, images of the phone’s battery surfaced online, revealing its battery capacity.

Based on the image, the Meizu Note 8 will have a battery capacity of 3,520mAh. That is the minimum battery capacity. Its typical battery capacity is 3,600mah as revealed in the second image.

The Meizu Note 8 should pack a 6.0-inch full HD+ screen, 12MP+5MP dual rear cameras, and an 8MP selfie camera. It is also expected to come with a Snapdragon 636 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Soon after announcing the Huawei Mate 20 series of flagship phones through the Oct. 16 London launch event, the Chinese manufacturer confirmed that it will be announcing its newest flagship phones in China on Oct. 26. A new leak that has surfaced on Weibo suggests that the entire expect for the Mate 20X gaming smartphone and the premium Mate 20 RS Porsche Design phone, Huawei will be releasing only the other Mate 20 devices in China. The leak has also revealed the pricing and color variants of all the Mate 20 phones that will be hitting the home market.

The leaked image shown below states the Mate 20 that will carry a price tag of 4,299 Yuan (~$619) will feature 64 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM. The Mate 20 Pro that is priced at 5,299 Yuan (~$763) will be advanced version of the Mate 20 Pro as it will feature 128 GB of storage and the same 6 GB of RAM.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro that was unveiled in Europe features an in-screen fingerprint reader. However, the Mate 20 Pro arriving in China seems to be equipped with a regular rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The leak states that the more powerful Mate 20 Pro models will come equipped with under-display fingerprint scanner.

Today, Qualcomm announced its new Snapdragon 675 octa-core chipset for mid-range smartphone, with focus on gaming, imaging and artificial intelligence technology. The chipset is the successor to Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 which was launched in August this year.

Soon after the announcement of the SD675 SoC, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi said that it’ll launch a new mid-range smartphone powered by the Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 675 processor, which is manufactured using the 11nm process.

Manu Kumar Jain, Global Vice President of Xiaomi and Managing Director of Xiaomi India made this announcement during Qualcomm‘s 4G/5G Summit in Hong Kong. With this, Xioami has become the first company to announce a device powered by SD675 chipset and could also be the first to launch it.

The newly announced Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform is an octa-core processor that includes two performance cores of Cortex A76 clocked at 2.0GHz and six power-efficient cores of Cortex A55 clocked at 1.78GHz.

The chipset brings some advanced features on mid-range phones that are usually found only on high-end devices or flagship phones. It comes equipped with Adreno 61X graphics which carries support for OpenGL ES 3.2, Open CL 2.0, Vulkan, and DirectX 12.

It also supports front-facing or rear-mounted triple cameras with features such as portrait mode and 3D face unlock. It also carries support for limitless slow-motion videos of HD quality. Further, it includes X12 LTE modem with 600Mbps download speeds and 3x carrier acceleration, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 with MU-MIMIO, tri-band and Bluetooth 5.0.

The SD675 also has gaming-specific enhancements, similar to Huawei’s GPU Turbo optimisation. According to the company, compared to the Snapdragon 670 SoC, the newly announced Snapdragon 675 offers 30 percent faster gaming launch experience and 35 percent faster interest browsing.

While Xiaomi has not revealed the exact timeline for the SD675-powered smartphone apart from the fact that it’ll launch next year, we are expecting the phone to hit the market in the first quarter of 2019 given that Qualcomm has revealed that the chipset is already available to OEMs.

Nubia X dual screen smartphone is set to get unveiled on Oct. 31 in China. Compared to other flagship phones, the Nubia X will be sporting a unique appeal as it will be equipped with a front-facing display and a secondary display on its rear. The handset will be arriving in celebration of the 6^th anniversary of the company. The below image that has been shared by Weibo lists the key features of the Nubia X smartphone.

According to the below image, the Nubia X will be a near 100 percent screen-to-body. The second point on the list confirm the eye protection mode on the smartphone. The third point states that it will be featuring AI rear display which suggests apart from using it the back screen as a secondary display, it will also function mimic as the rear shell of the device by displaying different themes. The fourth point is a bit unclear to understand that the Nubia X will be a flexible smartphone.

The fifth points say that there is no notch on the Nubia X. No notch means there is no front-facing camera on the device. For shooting selfies, the rear-mounted dual cameras can be used, and the back display can work as the viewfinder. The six point seems to be suggesting the gaming and security capabilities of the smartphone. The Nubia X will be equipped with wireless charging technology, but the weird part is that it actually states that the phone can be charged through Wi-Fi. The last point on the list claims that the phone will be costing nearly 10,000 Yuan (~$1,440).

TENAA listing of the Nubia X that had surfaced in the previous month have already revealed the entire specs of the smartphone. The Nubia X has 6.26-inch notch-less FHD+ LCD screen as the main display. On its rear is the 5.1-inch HD+ OLED display. It is fueled by Snapdragon 845 SoC. the 64 GB and 128 GB storage variants of the phone are expected to respectively feature 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM.

The phone is tipped to feature dual side-mounted fingerprint scanners. For photography, the smartphone is equipped with 24-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual rear camera. It will be packed with a 3,800mAh battery that will carry support for fast charging.
