Xiaomi has kicked off its fourth Mi Anniversary celebrations today in India. Yes, the Chinese tech giant is rolling out the drums to celebrate its fourth year in India. It has been four remarkable years which has seen the company rising through the ranks to emerge as the number one smartphone brand in India so there are many reasons to celebrate. The Mi 4th Anniversary activities will take place online via Mi.com where Xiaomi products will sell at heavily discounted prices from 10 am IST and will terminate at midnight of July 12.

Top among the activities that will mark the three days celebrations will be giving of priority access to Mi community members and that has commenced since noon on Sunday, July 8. Xiaomi’s share price is soaring on the second day!

Xiaomi share price has experienced a rebound on the second day of trading, according to reports from Hong Kong. The Chinese tech giant officially listed for trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on July 9 with the stock code 01810. The stock traded for HK$16.6 on the first day which was 2.35% lower than the issue price of HK$17. But today, the stock price soared higher than the issuing price of HK$17, going as high as HK$17.48. At a point, the stock price peaked at HK$17.50 and as at the time of writing it has risen even further to HK$18.34, which is 9.17%. higher than the listing price.

Xiaomi is set to be included in the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index on July 23, which is a reflection of the company’s valuation. The Hang Seng Index (abbreviated: HSI) is a free-float capitalization-weighted stock market index in Hong Kong. It is used to record and monitor daily changes of the largest companies of the Hong Kong stock market and is the main indicator of the overall market performance in Hong Kong.

Although the initial trading price was disappointing, the rise in the trading price is a positive sign that it is just not over yet. Xiaomi could still come out of this with a successful record. Perhaps, if you plan to buy some Xiaomi shares, this is the best time to do it as the prices may continue soaring higher. Despite scepticisms which affected the company’s final valuation, the company is well positioned to be a highly profitable internet company and not just a hardware firm as some view it.

OnePlus releases last beta builds for OnePlus 3/3T

The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T are nearing their end of life with respect to software updates. Although if we are to go by OnePlus’s recent statement on updates, both devices should still get security updates up until next year.

Yesterday, OnePlus released new beta builds for the OnePlus 3 (open beta 39) and OnePlus 3T (open beta 30). The open beta builds are said to be the last for both phones.

AnTuTu’s top 10 most favorite smartphones for June 2018 released

After releasing the list of top 10 high performance Android phones for June month, AnTuTu has now released the list of top 10 most favorite smartphones for the same month. The following list contains Android phones that were highly rated by users on the AnTuTu app between June 1 and June 30.

The Sony Xperia XZ Premium is leading the list with a positive rating of 95 percent. The handset was launched in early 2017. It features a regular 4K HDR display of 5.5 inches and is powered by Snapdragon 834. Other specs of the XZ Premium include SD835, 64 GB storage, 4 GB RAM, 19-megapixel rear camera and 3,230mAh battery.

The Meizu PRO 6 Plus that was launched at the end of 2016 follows XZ Premium with a positive rating of 94 percent. It includes 5.7-inch 2K display, Exynos 8890 SoC, 4 GB RAM, 12-megapixel rear camera with 4-axis OIS and 3,400mAh battery.

The OnePlus 6 and Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 are tied on the third spot with a positive score of 93 percent. The OP6 is a 2018 flagship phone that features a 6.28-inch notched Optic AMOLED display, SD845 SoC, 6GB / 8GB RAM, 64 GB / 128 GB / 256 GB storage, 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera and 3,300mAh battery. The Mi MIX 2 has 5.99-inch 18:9 aspect ratio screen, Snapdragon 835, up to 8 GB RAM, up to 256 GB storage, 12-megapixel rear camera and 3,400mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3, Mi 8, Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are on the fourth position with a positive score of 92 percent. The fifth spot is occupied by Xiaomi Mi Max 2 and Redmi Note 4X phones that managed to salvage a positive rating of 90 percent.

The above list is mainly dominated by older phones and the only new phones to make it to the list are OnePlus 6 and Xiaomi Mi 8. Surprisingly, the list does not include a single phone by Huawei. Newer smartphones are expected to appear in the forthcoming list of top 10 most favorite Android phones by AnTuTu.

Nubia Z18 appears on GeekBench revealing key specifications

ZTE‘s sub-brand Nubia is gearing up to launch its flagship smartphone Nubia Z18. While the phone’s launch date is not revealed by the company, the device has now appeared on benchmarking website Geekbench.

The Geekbench listing shows a mobile with model number NX606J, which is believed to be the Nubia N18. A few months ago, a phone with the same model number was seen on AnTuTu, which also revealed that it will be available in more than two color variants.

The listing shows that the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB RAM, and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The phone’s single-core score is 2344 while the multi-core score is 8933.

Reports reveal that the Nubia Z18 will come with a notched display. The TENAA listing of the Nubia NX606J reveals that it will feature a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display with screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. The octa-core processor will be clocked at 2.649 GHz.

The TENAA listing also suggested that the phone will be available in two variants — one with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and another with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The smartphone is also expected to feature a fingerprint sensor on the back side and will be powered by a 3,350mAh battery.

There are dual cameras on the rear and the primary sensor is of 24-megapixel while the secondary sensor is of 8-megapixel. On the front side, it has an 8-megapixel camera sensor for taking selfies and video calling.

Along with the Nubia Z18, the company is also expected to launch the Nubia Z18S smartphone with notchless and almost bezel-less display. While the launch date is not yet known, we expect the phone to soon get launched in China.

Oppo Find X confirmed to launch in India on 12th July

Oppo recently lanunched its flagship smartphone Oppo Find X at a launch event in Paris, which was followed by a launch of the smartphone in the company’s home market. Now, Oppo has revealed that the Oppo Find X will be launched in India on 12th July.

Announcing the same, Oppo tweeted “Excitement is now tantamount to perfection for the upcoming India Launch of #OPPOFindX! Catch the live streaming on July 12, 2018. Till then, wait & explore to #FindMore.”

While the company said that the launch event will be live streamed on 12th July, it has not revealed at what time the event will start. Earlier, the company had sent out media invites for the July 12 launch event in India, but had not revealed the device to be launched.

The Oppo Find X comes with a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display dominates the front side of the phone and it is touted as the world’s first smartphone to come with a screen-to-body-ratio of 93.8 percent.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. The smartphone doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, instead, it comes with O-Face (3D face unlock) which OPPO says has a failure rate of 1/1,000,000 compared to that of a fingerprint scanner which is 1/50,000.

Unlike the Vivo NEX that features a pop-out front-facing camera, the Find X comes with a large automatic sliding mechanism the width of the phone. When this part of the phone slides out, it not only reveals the front camera and 3D face scanning sensors for unlocking the phone, it also reveals the dual rear cameras and LED flash. OPPO has termed it “Stealth 3D cameras”. According to the company, the slide-out mechanism pops out in just 0.5 seconds.

The front-facing camera sensor is of 25MP for taking selfies. It comes with multiple 3D portrait lighting features and Omoji, which is OPPO’s own take on the iPhone X’s emojis. For the photography, the smartphone comes equipped with a dual camera setup that consists of a 16MP + 20MP sensors on the back with OIS and AI features.

The device runs on ColorOS 5.1 AI Smart custom UI based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. The company says that the OS will learn usage habits, preload common applications, and make the app start faster. It also features a smartphone voice assistant. The device is backed by a 3730mAh battery, which supports Oppo’s custom VOOC charging technology which some variants come with SuperVOOC technology.

It is not yet clear if the company will launch the Lamborghini Edition of the Oppo Find X in India or not. To know which variants makes it to India and the pricing as well as availability details, we’ll have to wait for the official announcement on 12th July.

When HMD Global had introduced the Nokia X6 smartphone in April, the company had confirmed that it would be coming in color choices like Dark Blue, Stark Black and Polar White. The Nokia X6 is currently available for buying exclusively in China. Fresh information reveals that the company is prepping on the global rollout of the smartphone. The X6 is expected to arrive with Nokia 6.1 Plus moniker in international markets. Starting from July 19, Hong Kong is expected to begin the sales of the Nokia X6 smartphone. The handset is expected to arrive in other markets in the coming weeks.

Huawei Nova 3’s July 18 launch event officially confirmed

An octa-core processor that clocks at 2.36 GHz will be present under the hood of the device. There is a possibility that the handset could be fueled by the Kirin 659 SoC.

The 64 GB and 128 GB storage models of the Nova 3 will respectively feature 6 GB of RAM. For more storage, it will be coming with a microSD card slot.

The handset will be drawing power from 3,650mAh battery. The EMUI based Android 8.1 Oreo OS will be available preinstalled on the phone. A fingerprint reader is placed on the back panel of the phone. It is confirmed that the handset will be arriving in colors like light blue, gold and bluish-purple.

When it comes to photography, the Nova 3 will offer a dual selfie setup featuring a 24-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The vertically stacked dual camera unit on the rear of the Nova 3 includes a 16-megapixel sensor and a 24-megapixel sensor.

As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the pricing of the smartphone. It is speculated that Huawei will be announcing the rumored TalkBand B5 smartband alongside the Nova 3 smartphone on July 18.

Banner hints Nova 3 launch in the Philippines on July 28

Huawei is expected to officially unveil the much-anticipated Nova 3 on July 18. The company could also take the wraps off the device in the Philippines on July 28. We say so because the company is advertising a new device as coming soon in the country. The giant ad poster was spotted recently in a shopping mall in the capital city – Manila.

While we can’t say for sure that the launch would be for the Nova 3, there are indications that it will be for the mid-range device that Huawei will be launching soon. The colour of the texts of the “coming soon” on the poster is similar to the colour theme Huawei used on the device’s official teaser poster.

The Huawei Nova 3 features a design similar to the Huawei P20 Lite but with improved specifications. The device is expected to pack a bigger 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 2340x1080pixels. The mobile phone is also expected to utilise a faster Kirin 710 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM, while it will get its juice from an ample 3,650mAh battery. The device will also feature dual cameras apiece both at the front and rear aspects. The dual cameras on the back will be a 16MP+24MP combo while the front-facing camera setup is expected to be a 24MP+2MP pair.

US-China Trade War: Huawei doesn’t expect to be affected

Huawei‘s rotating Chairman Ken Hu has expressed optimism that the company doesn’t expect to be affected by the current trade war simmering between the United States and China. Recall that Beijing has been at loggerheads with Washington over the latter’s 25% tariff on $34 billion worth of goods from China last Friday. Beijing was quick to retaliate in the same measure, imposing tariffs of the same worth on products from the U.S. The U.S government is expected to impose an additional $16 billion worth of imports from China but Mr Hu believes the company won’t be targeted by the US government in its trade war with China.

Huawei’s Chairman could be regarded as holding a very lofty and ambitious expectation considering the company’s history with the U.S. Huawei has had to face several oppositions from the U.S government regarding the use of its hardware in the U.S. The government and even lawmakers have expressed concerns over the possibility of Huawei’s hardware being used by the Chinese government to spy on U.S citizens. Huawei has repeatedly expressed its innocence, stating that its software and hardware are in no way more vulnerable to attack that of other OEMs. So, in the event of the sanctions being extended, the U.S won’t mind slamming one on Huawei if possible.

However, the indices looks good for Huawei as there aren’t so many products it relies on the U.S for, neither does the company ship much of its hardware to the U.S. ZTE’s heavy reliance on U.S hardware such as chipsets is one reason why the latter found its operations entirely crippled after the Commerce Department hit it with a denial order over trade embargo violations this spring. But according to Mr Hu, the largest telecom equipment manufacturer in the world still wants to utilize “the best technologies” in its products. That approach will see it continue buying U.S. chips this year, irrespective of any tariffs or other burdens, according to the executive.
