Following the official release of Android 9.0 Pie, manufacturers have been announcing devices that are eligible for the latest version of Android. Today, Motorola released a list of its phones that will get the update.

Motorola says the update will begin rolling out this fall but don’t be surprised if some phones don’t get it until next year. The eligible devices are listed below:

1. Moto Z3
2. Moto Z3 Play
3. Moto Z2 Force
4. Moto Z2 Play
5. Moto X4
6. Moto G6 Plus
7. Moto G6
8. Moto G6 Play

Apart from the Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z2, and Moto X4, no other Motorola phone released in 2017 will get updated to Android 9.0 Pie which is sad. However, we are not surprised.

Motorola has a bad track record when it comes to software support. The V was only updated to Android 8.1 Oreo back in June and the Android 8.1 Oreo soak test for the Moto G5 Plus began at the end of July. The Moto E5 series isn’t getting the update too. We are also not surprised as we already knew this right from when they were announced.

Android 9.0 Pie brings a new navigation system, adaptive brightness, adaptive battery and a number of UI changes.

Lenovo-owned Motorola has launched the Motorola Moto Z2 Force smartphone in India. It has arrived in India nearly eight months after its official announcement. Like the predecessor model that was launched in October 2016, it carries support for MotoMods accessories and is packed with flagship specs. It is dubbed as a Limited Edition phone with the bundled battery pack MotoMod.

Moto Z2 Force Specifications and Features

The Moto Z2 Force sports a 7000-series aluminum body that measures 155.8 x 76 x 6.1mm and weighs 143 grams. It has a brushed metal appeal and it comes in single color variant of Super Black. In other markets, it is also available in other colors like Fine Gold and Lunar Grey. It features a redesigned oblong-shaped fingerprint scanner enabled home button. The bottom rear of the back panel features the connector pins for attaching MotoMods accessories.

The ShatterShield display of the Moto Z2 Force mainly comprises of 5.5-inch P-OLED screen that offers Quad HD screen resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The Snapdragon 835 chipset is present under the hood of the phone. The SoC is coupled with 6 GB of RAM. It has a native storage of 64 GB and it is also equipped with dedicated slot for adding a microSD card.

It is packed with Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support enabled 2,730mAh battery. Users can simply attach the 3,500mAh TurboPower pack MotoMod for extra battery life. This MotoMod was launched with a price tag of Rs. 5,999 in India in December last year. The predecessor Moto Z Force had featured a larger battery of 3,490mAh capacity. The handset is pre-loaded with Android 7.1 Nougat and also features exclusive Motorola Experience such as Moto Voice and Moto Display.

The round-shaped camera module that has an iconic bump includes a pair of 12-megapixel RGB and monochrome sensors, dual-LED flash and laser autofocus. The Sony IMX386 is also present in the dual camera setup of Xiaomi Mi 6, a phone that was not launched in India. It features a selfie camera of 5-megpaixel that is equipped with its own LED flash.

Motorola has released new MotoMods accessories for the smartphone. However, the older MotoMods are also compatible with the new Moto Z2 Force. As far as connectivity is concerned, the Z2 Force provides its users with options like dual-SIM support, 4G VoLTE, dual band Wi-Fi with MIMO, Bluetooth, USB-C, NFC and GPS. There is no 3.5mm audio jack on the phone. Owners of the Z2 Force will have to use the same USB-C port for connecting the charger and earphones. For the convenience of the user, the company is providing a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter along with the phone.

Moto Z2 Force Pricing and Availability

The Moto Z2 Force has arrived in India with a price tag of Rs. 34,999 (~$548).  The handset will be exclusively available for purchase through Flipkart and Moto Hub beginning at 12 AM tonight. Later on, it will be also made available through offline partners of Motorola.

After almost eight months since its official announcement, Motorola is going to launch Moto Z2 Force in India. The U.S. tech giant acquired by Lenovo will hold a live event on YouTube at 12:00 a.m. on February 15 in which it will unveil all the details about the pricing and availability of its latest flagship in the Indian market. In the U.S. the starting price of the handset is $799, which roughly translates into Rs. 51,460.

Together with the flagship, Motorola will launch the Moto TurboPower Pack MotoMod which will be possible to connect on the back of the device, through its dedicated pins. It is just a battery pack and it provides 3500 mAh of additional capacity to prolong the battery life of Moto Z2 Force. It also supports fast charging thanks to its 15W output, so, even though the capacity is high, it will not take much time to charge the MotoMod. There is a chance that Motorola Moto Z2 Force will be sold in a bundle with the Moto TurboPower Pack MotoMod in India.

The flagship distinguishes from the competition for its great build quality: its body is made of 7000 series aluminum and its display has the ShatterShield technology which makes it very resistant (but apparently not peel resistant). The display has a size of 5.5 inches and a QHD resolution (with bezels). Under the hood, there is a Snapdragon 835 SoC paired with 6 GB of RAM and 64 or 128 GB of expandable storage, while on the back there is a dual camera configuration composed of two Sony IMX836 sensors with a resolution of 12 MP (the secondary sensor is monochromatic).

Motorola Moto Z2 Force that was unveiled in July last year employs a 5-layer system that safeguards the display of the phone from breaking. The screen of the Moto Z2 Force is advertised as ShatterShield display which means that it won’t break easily like the screens of other smartphones. In order to show the durability of the Moto Z2 Force, Motorola had released a video few months ago that show 100 employees of its company participating in “World’s Largest Phone Drop.” The display of the Z2 Force may not break easily, but a durability test on it revealed that its P-OLED (polymer-OLED) display can scratch quite easily. Many users of the Z2 Force are now complaining that the protective layer present on its display is peeling off easily.

Actually, the top layer of Z2 Force’s display is a permanent screen protector. It means that it cannot be removed by the user and it should not come off on its own. However, several users are now miffed about the fact that the top layer of the screen is peeling off around the edges and home button. Some users are of the view that the phone gets quite hot while charging when a Moto Mod is attached, and this could be the reason behind the peeling off of the plastic layer. Here are some of the images shared by the users that show how bad the issue is.

Shown below is an image that shows how the Moto Z2 Force looks like if the protective layer is completely removed. Peeling it off completely will make the display unusable.

Even though the top layer is a permanent screen protector, it has been designed to be replaced. However, it is quite frustrating to see it come off within few months of purchasing it. There is a solution to resolve this issue, but it requires users to spend some money. Lenovo-owned Motorola is offering a new replacement for the top layer for $49. Once replaced, the device will look as good as new. However, there is a possibility that the replaced screen protector may peel off once again in few weeks/months. It would have been better if Motorola offered a free replacement for it.

Motorola is one of the few companies that has started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo update for its smartphones. The Moto X4 Android One edition on Project Fi was updated to Android 8.0 Oreo in the previous month. However, the retail edition of the smartphone in the U.S. has now started to receive the Android 8.0 Oreo update.

Through the official Lenovo forum, a Motorola representative has confirmed that the roll out of Android 8.0 Oreo has stared for Moto X4 users in the U.S. However, all the users won’t be able to see the update at the same time. So, it will take a few days for the OTA update to be available to all users in the U.S.

The Moto Z2 Force users on T-Mobile and Verizon have already received the Oreo update. Motorola has recently started soak test of Oreo update for Moto Z2 Play smartphone in Brazil. Those who are part of Oreo beta program in Brazil have revealed that the size of the update is 1.13 GB and it includes security patch for January.

Few months ago, Motorola had confirmed the Oreo update would be made available to 13 smartphones. The list includes Moto Z, Z Droid, Z Force Droid, Z Play, Z Play Droid, Z2 Play, Z2 Force, X4, G5, G5 Plus, G5S, G5S Plus and Moto G4 Plus.

Google launched the latest version of its Android operating system in August — Android 8.0 Oreo. Since then, only a couple of smartphone manufacturers have rolled out Android Oreo update to their devices.

While most users are waiting for the Android Oreo update, here are some good news for the users of Motorola. The company is soon going to start Android Oreo soak test for its Moto Z smartphone lineup.

Motorola has sent out invites to select users of Moto Z and Moto Z2 Force smartphones in Brazil who are a part of Motorola Feedback Network for the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system soak test. Motorola Feedback Network is the Lenovo-owned company’s testing programme.

A soak test is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Beta Program where users sign up for a programme that enables them to receive beta versions of upcoming software updates or operating system build from the company. Once the soak test is completed, the company will roll out the official update.

While this is only a beta programme, it’s still good to see that Motorola and Lenovo are working on bringing the latest version of Android for its users everywhere. The soak test for Android Oreo, which is currently limited to Brazil, is expected to be expanded by Motorola to other global regions in the coming days.

The new Android Oreo update is expected to offer several improvements over the Android Nougat operating system, including faster booting time, extended battery life, more fluid user experience. It will also bring the latest security patches through Google Play Protect. It automatically checks for malware inside all the installed applications on the users’ smartphone.

According to the reports, the first beta may arrive in the next couple of days. While the company has not revealed date of the official rollout of Android Oreo, it is believed that Motorola might release the official update by the end of this year.

Motorola just took the wraps off its latest flagship in China. Called the Moto Z 2018, the fphone packs dual rear cameras, a 7000 series aluminium body and a 5.5” AMOLED ShatterShield display. Do the specs of the Moto Z 2018 look familiar? Of course! That is because it is the Moto Z2 Force with a different name.

Moto Z 2018 Design

With respect to design, the Moto Z 2018 is nearly identical to the international variant. It has the same brushed metal back design, all-round antenna line, redesigned moto mod connector pins, and a glass front. However, the Motorola batwing logo is gold instead of black.

Moto Z 2018 Specs

The Moto Z 2018 has a 5.5-inch AMOLED ShatterShield 2K display. Unlike the Z2 Force, this model packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB UFS storage but is still powered by the Snapdragon 835. There is also a MicroSD card slot for up to an additional 2TB.

The Moto Z 2018 has dual Sony IMX386 12MP rear cameras in the monochrome + RGB format. Above the display is a 5MP OmniVision 5695 selfie camera with its own flash.

The Moto Z comes with a 2730mAh battery but the phone comes bundled with a 3490mAh Moto Mod with TurboPower in addition to a Moto Style Mod that adds wireless charging.

There is a USB-C 3.1 port at the bottom with support for Motorola’s 15W TurboPower charging technology. The port also doubles for audio since the phone doesn’t have an audio jack. The Moto Z 2018 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box.

Moto USB-C Hi-Fi Headphones

Motorola also announced its first USB-C earphones or like it says, the world’s first USB-C Hi-Fi headphones. It is the in-ear type with a 120cm long braided cable and an in-line control with volume buttons and a call button.

Kingsman VIP Special Edition

The Moto Z 2018 also has a Kingsman VIP Special Edition. It comes in box designed like a briefcase which holds the phone, a VIP Card, TurboPower battery mod, wireless charging mod, USB-C to 3.5mm audio adapter, leather flip case, 45th year anniversary notepad, the USB-C Hi-Fi audio headphones, and a warranty card.

Pricing and Availability

The Moto Z 2018 is available in only black and will retail for ¥9,999 (~$1500). Expensive right? That is because you get the Kingsman VIP Special Edition. There is no mention of it being available as a standard version.

Motorola China did release a video that pointed to the launch of a new device on October 24. The Moto Z2 Force is the device which the Lenovo-owned company is expected to unwrap on that day which is just 4 days away. The Moto Z2 Force has already been launched overseas and in some regions as the Moto G5S. It may interest you to know that the same model may likely launch under a new name in China. The model was spotted while in use by a Weibo user and it is identified by the microblogging platform as Moto Z 2018.

As stated earlier, there has been a precedence so this isn’t much of a surprise. The device had earlier appeared on TENAA where it was revealed that there will be a 6GB RAM variant exclusive to the China market. The Moto Z2 Force bears a striking resemblance with the Moto Z2 Play which was also recently launched in China. The major difference between both models is that while the Z2 Force is expected to pack a flagship specs lineup, the Z2 Play comes as a mid-range device with a Snapdragon 626 chip on the driving seat.

Motorola has taken to Weibo to announce that it has an event scheduled for October 24. The 10-second long video shows a mash-up of short clips possibly recorded with a phone. Our guess is that the launch is for the Moto Z2 Force.

The Moto Z2 Force was announced back in July but still hasn’t been unveiled in China. It was seen on TENAA in August with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, so that should be the variant China is getting.

The Moto Z2 Force is powered by the Snapdragon 835 processor. It has a 5.5-inch P-OLED QHD display and dual 12MP rear cameras. There is a 5MP front facing camera with its own LED. A 2730mAh battery sits under the brushed metal back. The fingerprint scanner is below the display and there is a USB-C port for audio and charging.

Like the first generation Moto Z series, the Moto Z2 Force has a bunch of connection pins at the back for connecting it to a Moto Mod. It will work with all of the first gen Moto Mods alongside the new ones released this year.

Apart from the Moto Z2 Force, Motorola may also release its own USB-C in-ear headphones. A second teaser image shows a pair of headphones made to form the figure 5 with a text that translates into “5 days to the event”. The earphones is plugged to a phone we believe is the Moto Z2 Force (the Moto Z2 Play has an audio jack).

The earphone has an in-line remote with volume controls and a call button. It also appears to have braided wires. We have no idea how much this will cost or if it will come bundled with the phone for free.

Motorola has mentioned on its official blog that the software rollout will begin this fall. The Moto E4, E4 Plus, Moto C and Moto C Plus smartphones that were released this year are not present on the above list which indicates that these phones may not receive Android 8.0 Oreo update.

Moto G4, Moto G4 Play and Moto G4 Plus were launched in May last year with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. These handsets have already Nougat update. However, it seems that even though they are over 1-year old devices, they may not be upgraded to Android 8.0. Hence, they are not listed above.

Motorola is rumored to be working on an Android One version of the Moto X4 smartphone and it is rumored to be aimed towards the U.S. markets. This smartphone is also expected to get the Oreo upgrade. In the U.S. Verizon is confirmed to release Android 8.0 Oreo update for Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z2 Play, Moto Z Force, Moto Z and Moto Z Play. Their unlocked versions are also confirmed to receive Android 8 update.

AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile are also going to release Oreo update for Moto Z2 Force. AT&T and T-Mobile will also release Android 8.0 firmware to Moto Z.  Lastly, the unlocked versions Moo G5, Moto G5 Plus, Moto G5S and Moto GS5 Plus are also going to receive the software update.

The Moto Z2 Force was released last month and it brings new features such as dual rear cameras, a faster processor and Motorola’s signature ShatterShield display.

The ShatterShield display was first announced a couple of years ago in the DROID Turbo 2. Instead of using  glass substrate for the display, Motorola swapped it for a plastic substrate that prevents the screen from damage when it hits the ground.

The ShatterShield display on the  the Moto Z2 Force has gotten negative reviews due to the fact that it is easily prone to scratches. Motorola plans to change that and is reported to be working on a display that heals itself. This reminds us of the LG G Flex‘ self-healing back.

Motorola has been granted a patent for a smart glass technology that uses a “memory” glass-like polymer that remembers its original shape and reverts back to it. The interesting part is that it isn’t just a hardware process. The software side includes the phone detecting if there is a crack on the screen, prompting a healing process, and when accepted begins the repair.

The user will be requested to suspend usage of the phone for the time being. A thermal element control then heats up the damaged area of the display, causing the molecules to move back into shape. Motorola says the healing process isn’t 100% efficient but does manages to restore it to a certain level.

There is no info on when the technology will finally hit the market. So don’t go raising your hopes.

IFA berlin officially begins on 1st of September and runs through to 6th. However, a number of manufacturers have launch events or keynote addresses scheduled a day or two ahead of the official opening day. One of them is electronics giant, Lenovo and they have released a teaser video of what we should expect.

The 51-seconds long video includes a wide variety of products, though most of them have already been released. First we see the Lenovo Yoga Tablet with its halo keyboard coming on. Then the Tango-based Phab 2 Pro makes an appearance.

The Moto Z2 Play is also spotted along with a Hasselblad camera mod, and the Moto Z2 Force with the 360° camera mod. If you are a gamer, you may want to visit Lenovo’s booth and check out their Y-series gaming laptop as one makes an appearance in the video.

At the 20-second mark, what appears to be a smart speaker can be seen. Although, Lenovo announced an Alexa-powered speaker early this year at CES, which is still not available for purchase yet by the way, this speaker has a different design. It also appears to have a display. Our guess is that this is Lenovo’s version of the Amazon Echo Show and we will have a first look at IFA Berlin.

The product we are most excited to see is the Star Wars AR headset made in partnership with Disney. When it was announced at the D23 event last month, very few details were released. Now that Lenovo has teased it in its IFA video, we may see it in action and get answers to our unanswered questions. Another pair of VR glasses is also seen in the video.

There is no new phone in the video, so don’t get your hopes high about a new smartphone launching.

After the launch of OnePlus 5, early owners of the flagship phone started complaining about the jelly effect while scrolling on a webpage or any app. It seems the newly launched Motorola Moto Z2 Force is also having the same issue. The problem was first spotted by XDA Developers.

Daniel Marchena from XDA Developers states that there is jelly scrolling effect while scrolling through Settings menu as well as app drawer. On investigating on the issue, it has been found that the jelly scrolling effect on the Moto Z2 Force is mainly because it refreshes in opposite direction as compared to the Samsung Galaxy S8+ which can be seen in the other video of this post.

When OnePlus was facing criticism for the jelly scrolling issue on the OnePlus 5, the same publication had found that the smartphone is fitted with an inverted display. The display IC is located on the bottom side instead of top on the OnePlus 5. The original Moto Z Force as well as the Z2 Force have the display IC located at the bottom.

The jelly scrolling effect does not impact the functioning of the phone and it is not considered as a manufacturing defect by OnePlus.  The publication claims that the Motorola phones (for example: Moto Z Force) in the past have also had the same issue, but the issue got amplified when the jelly scrolling effect was seen on OnePlus 5.

This suggest that Motorola may have also incorporated an upside down mounted display on the Moto Z2 Force. There is no workaround for this and it appears that there won’t be any software update to fix this issue. If early adopters are facing this issue and find it to be very annoying, they can’t take advantage of the refund policy.

The device has already been announced in the U.S. with a staggering $720 price tag. The TENAA listing is an indication that a launch in China will take place soon. 

The Moto Z2 Force bears a striking resemblance with the Moto Z2 Play which has been launched in China for over a month now.  Th only difference between both models is that while the Z2 Force is expected to pack a flagship specs lineup, the Z2 Play comes as a mid-range device with a Snapdragon 626 chip on the driving seat.

The TENAA listing shows the Moto Z2 Force will feature a 5.5-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.  The device is also listed with a 6GB RAM + 128GB storage combination which is exclusive to China and will be powered by a 2.35GHz processor, already known to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 flagship SoC. The device also features a 2565mAh battery but there is an earlier rumour that the battery will get a boost with the external Moto Mod battery pack which will be released as well. The device comes in black and white colours and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat out-of-the-box but we can’t say if it has got a touch of ZUI.

Other features of the Z2 Force includes a dual camera setup at the rear having a 12MP main sensor and 8MP secondary sensor, while at the front, there is a 5MP camera for selfies. From the photo, we can see that both the front and rear cameras come along with dual-tone LED flash.

Motorola finally takes off the wraps on its latest flagship, the Moto Z2 Force. For starters, this is the successor to both the Moto Z and the Moto Z Force. So don’t expect a separate Moto Z2.

We have seen tons of images ahead of the official launch and by now we should all be familiar with the Moto Z2 Force. There have been slight modifications with respect to the design, but the overall look remains largely unchanged.

Moto Z2 Force Design: Keeping It Simple

The biggest changes in the overall design are at the back. Unlike the first gen model that has a glass back that doubles as a fingerprint magnet, the Moto Z2 Force ditches it for brushed metal.

Running around the metal back like a border line are the antenna lines in a lighter shade of black/ash. The Moto Mod connector pins have gotten a redesign too but they still work with the older mods.

The camera bump is still there but it now holds two sensors and dual LEDs for flash. The whole setup sort of looks like the face of a Rabbid.

The changes in the front are minimal. There is a redesigned  home key/fingerprint scanner and the position and design of the LED flash has been changed.

Moto Z2  Force Specs

The Moto 2 Force has a 5.5-inch 2K POLED display with Shattershield protection. There is 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and the Snapdragon 835 mobile platform. That memory configuration is for the US.

The rest of the world gets 6GB RAM and 64GB of storage while China gets 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. All variants will have microSD card slots.

Depending on the market, you either get a single SIM slot or dual SIM slots but irrespective, it will be nano. There is dual band WiFi with MIMO; NFC; and Bluetooth 4.2 which Motorola says will become 5.0 after the Android O update and a whole bunch of sensors including an audio monitor.

The Moto Z2 Force doesn’t have an audio jack but you get a 3.5mm to USB type-C adapter.

Just like the Moto Z2 Play, the Moto Z2 Force also ditches its bigger 3500mAh battery in favor of a smaller 2730mAh one. The only plausible explanation behind this is to get you to buy the Moto Mod  battery pack according to Evan Blass.

The Moto Z2 Force runs Android 7.1.1out of the box and comes with Motorola’s additional features like voice control and Moto gestures.

Moto Z2 Force Cameras: Mono + Color

Motorola has adopted the mocochrome + color format for the dual cameras on the Z2 Force. Both sensors are 12MP Sony IMX386 cameras with a f/2.0 aperture and a 1.25um pixel size.

There is laser autofocus, zero shutter lag and depth detection. You can take images with the depth of field effect or modify the “image background or foreground to black and white, while keeping the main subject in color mode”.

The front camera is a 5MP f/2.2 sensor with its own flash and pro mode.

Moto Mods

Motorola also officially showed off the Moto 360 Camera mod. The 360 cam mod shoots in 4K with immersive audio. It has a 150° field of view and you can use it to live stream directly to your social media accounts. It has a price tag of $299.99.

Moto Z2 Force Pricing, Colors, and Availability

The Moto Z2 Force will be available in Super Black, Fine Gold and Lunar Grey. All carriers in the US will have it but the grey model is a T-Mobile exclusive. It will also be sold by Motorola itself and Best Buy.

Price starts at $720 and it will go on sale on August 10 with a free Insta-Share Projector Moto Mod. Pre-orders begin today.

The Moto Z2 Force will also be launched in Brazil, Mexico, China, Europe, Middle East and Africa in coming weeks.

The Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force are slated to get unveiled on July 25. The press render of the Moto Z2 Force has already appeared. Now, several leaked photos of a real Z2 Force smartphone have appeared.

The Moto Z2 and Z2 Force will be the first dual camera smartphones from Motorola. The leaked images of the Z2 Force show the dual rear cameras placed in a horizontal manner inside a circular camera housing that also features a dual-LED flash. The bottom portion of the rear panel of the phone also shows the 16-pin slot for attaching Moto Mods accessories.

The frontside of the Moto Z2 Force resembles with the Moto Z2 Play that was unveiled in the previous month. The top bezel seems to feature a LED flash for the front-facing camera. Below the display is a capacitive Home button. The third image shows one of the sides of the phone and gives us an idea on how slim the phone would be.

A recent report has revealed that Motorola will be providing a 2,730mAh battery with the Moto Z2 Force. The original Moto Z Force came with a 3,500mAh battery. The reduction in the battery size would also decrease the thickness of the Z2 Force by 1mm. The Moto Z Fore has a thickness of 7mm and the smaller battery on the Moto Z2 Force could mean that it would be featuring a 6mm chassis.

Leaked information has revealed that the Moto Z2 Force would be coming with a 5.5-inch QHD display. It would be equipped with a ShatterShield screen. It would be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset. The U.S. will receive 4 GB RAM + 64 GB of storage version of the Moto Z2 Force. Other regions are pegged to get a variant featuring 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. The Z2 Force would be available with 6 GB RAM and 128 GB of storage in China. All the models will feature a microSD card slot. It will come loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is expected to get upgraded to Android O very soon.

All four US carriers will indeed offer the Moto Z2 Force.

According to the above tweet from well-known tipster, Evan Blass, the Moto Z2 Force would be available through all the four major carriers in the U.S. such as AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint. Last year, the Z Force was available through Verizon in the U.S. The Lunar Grey variant is likely to be exclusive to T-Mobile whereas other carriers are expected to receive Super Black and Fine Gold editions.

The Moto Z Force came with a 21-megapixel rear snapper. However, its successor will be coming with a pair of 12-megapixel snappers sitting on its rear side. Like the Moto Z Force, its successor will be coming with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The image suggests it will also feature a selfie flash.

What about the U.S.? As said above, the Moto Z2 Force with modest configuration like 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage will be releasing in the U.S. A microSD card slot that can support up to 2 TB capacity will be available on all the Moto Z2 Force variants.

Compared to the original Moto Z Play that features 3,510mAh battery, the Moto Z2 Play came with a 3,000mAh battery. Motorola is using the same strategy on the Moto Z2 Force. Motorola has an event scheduled for July 25. Though it hasn’t said anything about what devices will be launching, its latest poster sort of confirms the Moto Z2 Force is one of them.

The invite for the event tagged #Hellomotoworld has the tagline “get ready to shatter your expectations” hinting at the shatterproof feature of the Moto Z2 Force.

Motorola’s ShatterShield technology which first appeared in the Droid Turbo 2 in 2015 and then the Moto Z Force Droid Edition in 2016 makes the display shatterproof. It will be making its next appearance in the Moto Z2 Force where it is expected to be more refined and better integrated with the display.

There is a high chance that the Moto Z2 Force will be unveiled on July 25 during the #HelloMotoWorld event. The new flagship is said to feature some design changes and new features, key being dual rear cameras.

Over the past few weeks we have seen the device show up on benchmark sites and in leaked press images. Today, we get to see Motorola tease the upcoming device.

If you head to the Moto Mods page for China, you should see the Moto Z2 Force staring you in the face. It is actually the same image from the Moto Mods article last night but surprisingly I didn’t notice it. The phone is shown with its back bare and also with the 360° camera mod and the TurboPower battery mod slapped on.

There are visible design changes between the Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z Force. First, the Moto Z2 Force comes with dual cameras although the overall camera design is still the same. The dual sensors are housed in the same circular housing and the LED flash still keeps the same arc design from the previous model.

Subtle changes include the redesigned back which is now plain but still looks like its a fingerprint magnet; the antenna lines; and the area around the moto mod pins.

Lenovo has begun sending out press invites to its upcoming Moto launch event which it dubbed #HelloMotoWorld. The poster spotted shows the event will be held on July 25 in New York City, United States. The conference is expected to herald the birth of a couple of Moto smartphones and accessories.

One of the smartphones expected to be unveiled on that day is the Moto Z2 Force which has been the subject of several leaks. The Z2 Force is the next generation model of the Moto Z Force which was released last year. The Moto Z2 Force is actually bigger than last year’s model with a dimension of 156.32 x 76.36 mm as against the Z Force’s 155.9 x 75.8 mm. However, the Z2 Force is thinner at 5.9mm (8.50m adding the camera bump). The Moto Z2 Force is expected to come with a 5.5-inch 2K display, a Snapdragon 835 processor and probably a more compact battery due to the thinner size.

Also, a new Moto X4 was leaked by popular Twitter tipster Evan Bass (@evleaks) and could also be among the models that would be unveiled on July 25. Not much is known about the Moto X4 but the device is expected ill feature an aluminum body, dual rear cameras, and IP68 water resistance.  The X4 will also come with a Snapdragon 630 chip backed by 4GB RAM and 64GB of native storage.

Evan Blass who has revealed fresh information on Moto X4 specifications has also leaked a press render of the AT&T Motorola Moto Z2 Force to reveal its design.

Last year, the Moto Z and Moto Z Force were exclusively available through Verizon in the U.S. Although the unlocked version of Moto Z was also available for purchase in the U.S., the Moto Z Force could be only purchased through Verizon. However, going by the tweet from reliable leakster, Evan Blass, it can be said that Moto Z2 Force will be available through multiple carriers in the U.S. this year.

Hence, this black colored handset is a AT&T edition of Moto Z2 Force.  Previous rumors have revealed that the shatterproof screen totting phone would be also available through Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint. This indicates that all the major carriers of the U.S. will be selling the Moto Z2 Force.

There is no information available on when the Moto Z2 Force will be officially launched. In 2016, the original Moto Z was introduced in June but it was made available for purchase by September. The recent leaks on Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force suggest that they should get unveiled soon.

However, the GFXBench listing only reveals that it features a single camera of 12-megapixel which is capable of shooting 4K resolution videos. Its front-facing camera is of 5-megapixel. It is running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

However, Andri Yatim, a leakster who has been consistently revealing information on upcoming Motorola devices claim that the Moto X4’s arrival has been delayed. He also states that Motorola may mention the Moto Z2 on June 30.

It is likely that the delayed arrival of Moto X4 is because Qualcomm is struggling to fulfil the demand of Snapdragon 660 that is expected to power a couple of mid-range phones including the Moto X4. There is no confirmation on which device the company would be unveiling on June 30. On the same date, Motorola is expected to release the Moto E4 Plus in the U.S. The Moto X4 comes with 5.2-inch FHD, Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB / 64 GB storage versions, dual rear cameras, IP68 certified body with 3D glass finish, and 3,800mAh battery. The Moto G5S and Moto G5S+ are said to arrive as improved versions of the Moto G5 and G5 Plus.

A leaked image that was allegedly shot at a recent Lenovo/Motorola event around a month ago revealed that several Moto phones are going to be released this year. By now the company has managed to launch couple of smartphones. In the previous month, the Moto C and Moto C Plus were launched. At the start of this month, Motorola introduced the Moto Z2 Play smartphone. In the previous week, it introduced the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus smartphones.

The other 2017 Moto phones that have not released yet include Moto G5S, Moto G5S+, Moto X4, Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force. Except for the Moto G5S, rumors have revealed all the other smartphones will be coming with dual rear camera feature. As far as Moto X4’s arrival is concerned, recent information has revealed that the Moto X4 may get announced at the end of this month on June 30. It is speculated to be an upper-midrange and first smartphone from the company to be powered by Snapdragon 660. Motorola has been releasing Moto X series flagship phones since 2013. However, in 2016, the Moto X was replaced by Moto Z phone. There is possibility that Motorola brand is coming back on June 27 with the launch of Moto X.

According to Yatim, the Moto G5S+ will be coming with a price tag of Rs. 17,999 (~$279) and the Moto X4 will be priced at Rs. 20,999 (~$326). As far the pricing of the Moto Z2 Force flagship phone is concerned, it will be costing Rs. 38,999 (~$607).

The aforementioned Moto smartphones are slated to get announced this summer. These devices are also expected to release in the U.S., but there is no information on the exact prices of these phones for the U.S. In India, the newly launched Moto Z2 Play is selling for Rs. 27,999 (~$435).

The live images of Moto G5S+ had appeared two weeks ago. The smartphone will be coming with a 5.5-inch full HD screen and it will be featuring a full metallic chassis. The Moto G5S+ will be driven by Snapdragon 625 chipset and will deliver Android 7.1.1 Nougat experience out-of-the-box. It will be arriving in color options like Gold, Grey, Silver/White and Gold/White. It will be sporting dual rear cameras coupled with dual-LED flash.

The Moto X4 is expected to come with glass and metal combination chassis. News has it that Motorola will unveil its new Moto Z2 family line in June. The line includes the Moto Z2 Play, the Z2 Force and the Moto Z2 itself. Images of the Moto Z2 have surfaced online. Although it is wrapped in a case, the images reveal an important info about the phone.

The Moto Z Force and Moto Z were the first Motorola phones to ditch the audio jack. However, recent reports say the 3.55mm port will make a comeback on the Z2 Force. While there was no mention of the Moto Z2 getting the same treatment, these new images confirm the fate of the audio jack. It will not return in the Moto Z2!!!

The images show the phone from three different angles, two of which cover the top and bottom where the audio jack should be. None of these shots show an audio jack.

The Moto Z2 in the images is gold. It has its SIM tray at the top and there is an antenna line positioned in the middle. The bottom is bare save for the USB Type-C port. We can’t see the rear since its covered with a case up front, there is a selfie flash with a new design and at the bottom is the new pill-shaped fingerprint scanner.

This year Lenovo is expected to launch the successor models of these smartphones. The leaked renders of Motorola Moto Z2 Play and Moto Z2 Force have already appeared in the recent past. However, it is only now that a leaked render of the Moto Z2 smartphone has appeared.

in April, the well-known leakster, Evan Blass had revealed that the Moto Z’s successor would be arriving with Moto Z2 moniker. The new image has been leaked a reliable source that is familiar with the plans of the company. The leaked photo only reveals the frontside of the phone. It can be said that the Moto Z2 flagship resembles a lot with the Moto Z2 Play smartphone.

The top bezel of the phone features an LED flash for the selfie camera along with some sensors and earpiece. It appears that the Moto Z2 will come with front-mounted fingerprint scanner. The images of Moto branded smartphones usually feature a clock along with the date on the home screen.

It is likely that the photo may have been photoshopped to remove the home screen and clock so that viewers may not see the date on the phone. However, the date present on the home screen of Moto Z2 Play indicates that it would be launching on June 8. Hence, it is likely that Lenovo may launch the Moto Z2 alongside the Moto Z2 Play.

Last year, the Moto Z and Moto Z2 Force came with similar specs, but the latter arrive with a ShatterShield screen. Speculations have it that the upcoming Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Force would be running on Snapdragon 835 chipset. The Moto Z2 Force is also expected to feature ShatterShield display.

Last year’s Moto Z2 and Z2 Force did not feature a 3.5mm audio jack. However, this year’s Z2 Force will bring back the 3.5mm jack. There is no confirmation on whether the Moto Z2 will be coming with or without the standard audio port.

A leaked video that was reportedly shot at a recent Lenovo event revealed that the rumored Moto X (2017) would be launching as “Moto X4.” The video was leaked by well-known and reliable leakster, Evan Blass. Today, he has tweeted a leaked image that seems to be shot at the same presentation. The new image shows the entire line of next generation Moto devices.

Before getting acquired by Lenovo, Motorola had released three series of Moto devices since couple of years. The Moto X line constituted of flagship phones and the Moto G series were midrange phones. The Moto E budget-friendly phones came with modest specs.

After getting acquired by Lenovo, the Chinese firm released the new Moto Z series with support for modular accessories in the previous year and there were no Moto X smartphones in 2016. It made the smartphone enthusiasts feel that the Moto Z line was introduced to replace the Moto X series. In 2016, Lenovo had also released Moto G4 and Moto E3 series phones. However, rumors started swirling in the last quarter of 2016 that Lenovo may launch the Moto X this year.= with midrange specs.

The 2017 Moto Z series includes Moto Z Play and Moto Z Force. The Moto Z Play will possess a 5.5-inch full HD display and support for Moto Mods accessories. The Moto Z Force will feature ShatterShield display, Moto Mods accessories support and 1 GB LTE speed.

The 2017 Moto X series would be arriving with a 5.2-inch FHD display with 3D glass and SmartCam feature that probably refers to dual rear camera.

The Moto G lineup include Moto gS and Moto gS+. The Moto gS will be featuring a 5.2-inch with FHD screen and full metallic chassis. The Moto gS+ would be coming with a 5.5-inch FHD screen and dual rear cameras. Since Lenovo has already released 2017 Moto G series phones, the Moto G5 and G5 Plus, the Moto gS and Moto gS+ seems to be 2018 models.

The 2017 Moto E series would be consisting of Moto E and Moto E Plus. The Moto E will have a 5-inch screen overlaid with 2.5D and will also include a fingerprint scanner. The Moto E Plus with 5.5-inch HD screen will be packed with a mammoth 5,000mAh battery.

The 2017 Moto C lineup would be featuring Moto C and Moto C Plus smartphones. The Moto C will be a 4G phone with 5-inch HD screen that supports 480 x 854 pixels. The Moto C Plus would be arriving with a 5-inch HD display and a 4,000mAH battery.

The Motorola Moto Z smartphone that was launched in 2016 can not only be customized by attaching various kinds of Moto Mods accessories, but also by adding interchangeable rear covers called Moto Style Shells. Now, Louie Chan HK, a Weibo user has revealed some of the upcoming Moto Style Shells. Unlike previous Moto Style Shells that were made of different materials like Oak and Leather, the newer ones seem to be focused on certain kind of design.

As it can be seen in the above image that was shared on Weibo, the design of the new Style Shells is focused on scenery. One of them shows the beauty of a skyscraper and another one shows an evening shot of a city and the other one displays a view of the sunset between two buildings.

Like the currently available Style Shells, the newer ones appear quite thin. Moto Z phones have a protruding rear camera module. Hence, adding a Moto Style Shell can help the phone to sport a flat rear.

There is no information on the material of these Moto Style Shells. However, they appear to be built from the same material and have a glossy appeal. There is a possibility that these Moto Style Shells could be made of plastic or metal. The different designs that can be seen may not be engraved on the cover but it could be overlaid by using some kind of material such as vinyl or silicon.

All the three Moto Style Shells have a circular cut-out for the round-shaped rear camera of Moto Z. It seems that it can be also used on the upcoming Moto Z2 flagship that also features a circular-shaped camera housing. Below the camera cut-out is the circular Moto batwing logo on each shell.

The existing Moto Style Shells are available for $20 each. There is a possibility that these new shells that sport elaborate designs which may be printed in a manner to last longer might come with a costlier pricing. It is likely that the new rear covers may launch and become available globally for purchase by this week.

The Moto Z2 and Moto Z2 Play leaked images and details have already surfaced. Since the predecessor models debuted in June last year, rumors have it that Lenovo will be unleashing the next-generation Moto Z phones in June 2017.

New renders from OnLeaks and Android Authority of the upcoming Moto Z2 Force have been released online. A few days ago we actually saw the first leaked image of the upcoming smartphone which revealed the new flagship will sport dual rear cameras. These new renders also show a new addition or rather a comeback.

Last year, Motorola removed the audio jack from its flagship Moto Z and Moto Z Force but in these renders, its back. Another difference is the antenna band that goes around the back of the phone. This is to allow for better signal quality.

For the rest of the design, it is no different from last year’s model. The connector pins are still there, so your old Moto Mods will work. The camera bump is there too and you still get a flash in front (though it is now dual).

The Moto Z2 Force is actually bigger than last year’s model. It measures 156.32 x 76.36 mm, slightly more than the Moto Z Force that measures 155.9 x 75.8 mm. However, the Z2 Force is thinner at 5.9mm (8.50m adding the camera bump).

The Moto Z2 Force will have a 5.5-inch 2K display, a Snapdragon 835 processor and probably a smaller battery due to the thinner size.

In the past few days, there have been a number of leaks related to new phones Motorola has been working on. We have seen details of the Moto E4 and Moto E4 Plus and have also gotten info on the new Moto C series. In addition to those two, we now have a leaked image of the flagship Moto Z2 Force courtesy of Slashleaks.

This year, Motorola is using more or less the same design language for all of its phones. The new design first appeared on the Moto Z Force and was used for all the other phones in the Z series. The design has been replicated on the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus.

The Moto Z2 Force doesn’t look much different from last year’s model but it does have some new improvements and additions. First, there are now dual cameras on the rear. This is a major change and it remains to see how Motorola incorporates the two sensors. However, the combination of the dual rear cameras and arc-shaped LED flash makes the whole setup look like a robot’s face. Sadly, the camera hump still remains.

Motorola has also redesigned the fingerprint scanner. Instead of the square-shaped one from last year, it is now shaped like a pill. The scanner also appears to be indented in the phone, so it probably won’t press like a button.

The rest of the design remains the same. There are still Moto Mod connectors on the back and the front camera still has its own LED flash.
