Although the Honor 8 Pro is roughly two months old, Huawei is still going on with the Honor 9. The launch is scheduled for June 12 at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center. The new flagship will retain the glass back and dual rear camera design of the Honor 8. However, the back glass is now a 3D curved glass.

Specifications that showed up on TENAA mentions a 5.15-inch 1080p display, Kirin 960 processor, and a 12MP + 20MP camera combo on the back. There will be a 4GB RAM model and a 6GB RAM version, both with 64GB of storage; and an 8MP camera up front.
The Honor 9 will feature a 3100mAh battery, dual SIM slot, have full network support, and run Android 7.0. Price is expected to start at ¥2299 ($335) for the 4GB version and ¥2599 (~$378) for the 6GB model. So far we have seen the Honor 9 appear in gold and bright yellow but there is a possibility there will be more colors.
Not much is known about the Honor Band 3 but it is rumored to be waterproof. So go on and mark your calendars.
The market of cheap action cameras is pretty crowded but we just came across an affordable camera made by TEC.BEAN. It costs just $59 but it has quite a few features like 16MP Sony CMOS sensor and 4k video recording. Learn more in our full review.
UNBOXING
As usual to most of the cheap action cameras, it comes with a ton of accessories that include all sorts of mounts, cradles and so on. A few notable accessories are a waterproof case, a spare battery, and the bike cradle.
DESIGN and FEATURES
The TEC.BEAN 900 sports a classic action camera design, it’s made of plastic, the build quality is pretty good and it is very light.
The buttons are nice and tactile and we have a few ports that include the micro USB, micro HDMI, and the microSD card slot.
As for the camera, we have a beefy 16MP SONY IMX 179 sensor with 170° wide angle lens.
A 2” display does not have the highest resolution but it gets the job done for an action camera and I had no issues seeing it indoors or outdoors.
FUNCTIONALITY
You can navigate through the menus using the buttons and the user interface is pretty straightforward.
You can adjust the resolution, play with the image settings and adjust quite a few different settings if you wish so but I guess that most of us just use the auto mode. You can also view the pictures you took or the videos you shot straight on the camera display. The camera also has a built-in Wifi and that means that you can connect it to your phone using the app. The app allows you to use the phone as a viewfinder. There is a slight delay like on most of the action cameras. You can also watch the videos you shot or adjust some settings and so on.
In order to test the quality of the 4k and 1080p video, I used the Zhiyun Rider-M gimbal for action cameras. It stabilizes the footage of action cameras very well.
This camera can shoot videos at the max. resolution of 4k at 30fps. I have to say that the video quality is pretty good for such a cheap camera. Sure, there could be more detail but you simply can’t ask more for the price. The 2.5k video at 30fps looks a bit smoother due to a higher count of frames per second but naturally, there is a bit less detail.
1080p video at 30fps looks pretty good for a cheap camera. 1080p video at 60fps is probably my favorite format for action cameras if you shoot a lot of moving objects or you move quickly yourself. The sound recording quality is terrible, like on most of the cheap action cameras. Slow-motion video at 720p is usable but there could be a lot more detail.
As for still image quality, it is really good for a cheap action camera. There is a good amount of detail, pictures look quite sharp and even color reproduction is decent.
BATTERY LIFE
The 900mAh battery performs great knowing the fact that the camera has a 2” display. I could get 1:20 h of 4k video recording and around 3 hours of total usage per charge.
CONCLUSIONS
All in all, the TEC.BEAN 900 4k Action Camera is a great choice for those who don’t want to spend hundreds for a GoPro but still want to have a small device that can shoot videos or take pictures.
For the price of $59, video and still image quality are really good. Finally, if you are looking for a cheap action camera, the TEC.BEAN 900 is a good offering for the price. More deals about TEC.BEAN, please visit here.
OPPO is known for its aggressive marketing methods and there’s no surprise that the promotions and teasers for its upcoming OPPO R11 flagship started nearly a month before its official release on June 10. The company has roped in many celebrities to promote its smartphones and even for the R11, we have seen a lot of celebs showing off the flagship on multiple occasions. But if you were hoping to get a close look at the smartphone in real life, the promo videos or teasers didn’t do much justice. But now, we have spotted a new video which shows off the OPPO R11 in good clarity, finally confirming most of the design features that we already knew about.
So, like we saw in the posters, the OPPO R11 will come with the new antenna band design on the top as well as the bottom. This should also mean that the phone features an all metal body. There’s a dual camera setup on the top as well as a LED flash. We can also see that the camera setup protrudes quite significantly from the back. That’s not surprisingly given that OPPO’s R series phones are super thin, with the current OPPO R9S model featuring a super slim 6.6mm body.
The front is simple, with slim bezels on the sides and a physical home button that should also act as a fingerprint sensor. Personally, I would have liked the top and bottom bezels to be thinner, to bring the front in tune with the 2017 flagship design.
Anyway, you can check out the entire video down below. Let us know what you think about the phone’s design.

The listing of Galaxy Note FE suggests that the Galaxy Note FE will be available through South Korean’s telecom operators like SKT, KT and LG U+. It not only reveals its pricing but also its entire specifications. The phablet features a 5.7-inch quad HD dual-edge curved display that supports a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and it is powered by Exynos 8890 chipset. The SoC is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM and it includes a native storage of 64 GB along with a microSD card slot.
It has a 12-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing selfie snapper of 5-megapixel. Other specs include USB Type-C port, iris scanner, fingerprint reader, IP68 certified body, Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and 3,200mAH battery.
Previous rumors have revealed that the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 would be sporting identical specs as the original model. The only major changes that will be seen in the refurbished model is the presence of the latest Android Nougat OS and a smaller 3,200mAh battery instead of 3,500mAh that belonged to the original phablet. However, the listing of Galaxy Note FE on the Korean retailer site shows Marshmallow OS instead of Nougat. Since Note FE is listed with a 3,200mAh battery on the Korean retailer site, it confirms the rumored information on smaller battery.
The Galaxy Note FE leaked photos had surfaced in the previous week to show that there is distinctive letter R mentioned at the rear side of the device to make buyers know that it is a refurbished Galaxy Note 7. The South Korean company has confirmed that it will be disclosing white paper report which will contain transparent details on what went wrong with Note 7. The phablet has already received certification from various bodies like FCC, Wi-Fi Alliance and Bluetooth SIG.
We are all set to meet the ZTE Nubia Z17 flagship later tonight, at 7PM Beijing time to be precise. But before the official release of the handset, we have finally got a good look at the Z17, thanks to Nubia’s brand ambassador, Cristiano Ronaldo. We have seen him reveal the brand’s smartphones just before its release via official posters and he did the same with the Nubia Z17. In the poster released by his official Weibo account, we have a good look at the back of the smartphone.
Turns out, I was right to say that the leaked Honor 8-like renders of the Nubia Z17 were going to be the final design. The poster confirms an iPhone 7 Plus like dual camera arrangement and a mirror-like finish on the back, similar to the Honor 8. Even the blue color reminds us of the Honor phone. But the overall design looks classy and I am sure a number of Nubia fans would be happy to see the mirror finish on the back. Given the finish, metal back seems unlikely and it should be a glass body.
We seem to have got a good look of the phone’s front as well, thanks to another poster. It’s pretty simple with a decent amount of bezels on the top as well as the bottom. The phone continues the bezel-less display design on the sides as well as the red circle capacitive home button.
After looking at the back as well as front, the phone seems to be designed well. Nubia smartphones are known for its impressive design and built, and we can expect the same on the Z17. The specs are expected to be top-end with Snapdragon 835 and 6GB RAM powering it. And there are rumors about 8GB of RAM inside! So, there’s a good reason for all of us to be excited. You can read more about the phone’s design, specs and other expected details from here.
We have bonus image of a Nubia Z17 case as well, which we have added below. But since we’ve already seen the complete design, the case won’t reveal any additional details about the phone. Now, to be honest, the case first reminded me of the iPhone 7 Plus with a cut out for Apple’s logo near the center. But given that the placement of the buttons are on the right side of the phone, the case does look like it’s of the Z17.
OnePlus is intensifying its publicity campaign for the OnePlus 5 which fuels speculations that the OnePlus 5 would be launching soon. Already, a leaked internal mail and poster point to a launch on June 15 but that may just be a fluke but a launch is imminent.
One key source of details about the OnePlus 5 has been OnePlus CEO Liu Zuotu who had always taken to Weibo to share a couple of details of his company’s upcoming flagship device. The CEO isn’t relenting as he has again revealed some more details of the OP5.The CEO address rumors of a shortage of Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 835 chip which the OP5 is said to feature, allaying fears that there wouldn’t be enough in stock before its launch.
More interesting is Zuotu’s disclosure that the flagship OP5 would come with a thin body which he touts would make the device the thinnest flagship phone. The OnePlus 3 won admiration from the media because of its thin build, according to the CEO but he claims the OnePlus 5 will improve on that as the company is constantly adjusting the value of the output by 0.05mm.
The OnePlus 5 is expected with a dual camera setup whose photo samples have been making the rounds lately tipped to have been optimised for more picture clarity. Apart from the Snapdragon 835 chip, the device is also expected with 6GB of RAM, a front fingerprint sensor and Android 7.1 Nougat, of course with a touch of OnePlus’ Oxygen and Hydrogen OS.
The larger MediaPad M3 Lite 10 that has been newly-unveiled comes with mid-range specs. It features a 10.1-inch screen that produces a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. The Snapdragon 435 SoC includes an octa-core processor powers this tablet.

The tablet supports both Wi-Fi 802.11ac and LTE connectivity through Cat. 4 modem. Its fingerprint scanner is placed under the physical Home button. It is packed with a 6,000mAh battery.
The USP of the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10 is the set of four front-facing speakers provided by Harmon/Kardon that can deliver an unmatched audio experience. The tablet comes in three color variants such as Gold, Space Gray and White. The slate measures 171.5 x 241.3 x 7.1 mm and its weight is 310 grams.
There is no information available on the pricing and availability of MediaPad M3 Lite 10 yet. Quandt had revealed that the 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage variant of the tablet is priced at 329 euros ($370). The MediaPad T3 Lite 10 has already received certification from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) at the beginning of May which indicates that the tablet would be released in the U.S. markets in the coming weeks.

According to IDC market research firm, the global smartphone shipments in 2016 met with a year-over-year growth of only 2.5 percent. This is the worst ever record in the smartphone industry. The research firm is of the view that the shipments will increase by 3 percent in this year. It means that IDC foresees that 1.52 billion smartphone units will be shipped in 2017.
In 2018, the global shipments of smartphones will increase by 4.5 percent. IDC has also predicted the smartphone market growth for the next 5 years. Its market analysis reveal that it will continue to grow consistently because of improved conditions in several developing markets. Another factor that will come into play is the unprecedented popularity of the highly anticipated tenth anniversary iPhone that is dubbed as iPhone 8 by the rumor mill. The research firm has stated that half the population of the world do not have a smartphone. By 2021, the worldwide shipments are expected to reach 1.745 billion.
In this year, IDC expects that iPhone sales will grow by 3.8 percent and it will grow higher in 2018. It has predicted that Apple will ship 223.6 million iPhone units in 2017. This number is slightly lower than previous predictions. The iPhone shipments are expected to rise to 240 million units in 2018. This means Apple may witness a 7.5 percent year-over-year growth.
As far as Android devices are concerned, the two developing markets such as the Middle East and Africa are expected to witness a year-over-year growth of 10 percent. Android devices will have an average selling cost of $198 in 2021.
After the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco, Samsung managed to maintain its reputation by launching the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The South Korean company has managed in selling the Galaxy S8 two times faster than Galaxy S7. The research firm claims that Apple’s keynote event that will be held in September this year will be “one of Apple’s biggest announcements ever.” Apple is heavily pegged to increase the size of the display to 5.8 inches on the iPhone 8.
IDC adds that in the next two years, smartphone companies will be rivaling each other in the display segment as Samsung and LG have already started the battle by launching smartphones with bezel-less 18:9 screens. Apple may also enter the display battle later this year. By 2021, smartphones with 5.5 inches and 6 inches screens will hold the largest market share.
Even though the low-end smartphone market has met with massive growth in the past few years, high-end smartphones will continue to drive more sales. The advancements in display technology, cameras and storage will make high-end smartphone users to upgrade their phones. For the next five years, IDC estimates that Android OS will have a market share of 85.1 percent and iOS will be second best with a market share of 14.5 percent.
Last week, OUKITEL held an activity “Guess-Answer-To-Win-Gift” to communicate with their fans about the charging speed and reverse charge ability of the battery monster device K10000 Pro. Thousands of users has given their answers to the two questions. As OUKITEL K10000 Pro is officially online, we have got the answers to these two questions and the game is starting the second round.
For the first question: How long does it need to fully charge K10000 Pro by its standard 12V/2A flash charger?
OUKITEL engineers tested this with the latest software in power off state, and get the result that the 10000mAh battery could be fully charged in 2 hours and 20 minutes. This is really unbelievable! But that’s the truth. If you turn off your K10000 Pro and charge it by the standard charger, then after 2 hours and 20 minutes, you can feel free to use it for several days.
However, in the game, OUKITEL marketing team set the condition that it will be charged in power on state with wif connected and SIM card in. That’s actually the normal state we will have in our daily use. From the video, we can see that by 1 hour and 20 minutes, it’s charged to 55% power, and 2 hours and 20 minutes, it is charged to 93% power, then by 2 hours and 30 minutes, the K10000 Pro is fully charged. So Those who have the answer of 2 and half hours will have the chance to get the gift.
For the second question: How many iPhone could be fully charged by K10000 Pro?
Since K10000 Pro is also consuming power while charging for other devices, it can not just calculate by simple plus and minus. According to the test, after fully charging for the first iPhone 7 plus which has 2910mAh battery, K10000 Pro has 48% power left, and for the second iPhone 7 plus, K10000 Pro charged it to 93%, then run out of power. It takes more than 4 hours to fully charge it. This means when you are out in the field, it at least guarantee your second device will not run out of power. But for using as a power bank, the charging speed can not be that fast.
The game Guess-Answer-to-Win-Gift round two is starting today with two new questions: How long can K10000 Pro support to watch downloaded FHD video with medium volume and medium screen? Second question: How many percentage of power will it left by playing 1 hour game? It will be live from May 31st to June 6th.
Just before the end of 2016, Qualcomm and Windows announced that 2017 will see the launch of Snapdragon 835-powered notebooks. At the Computex event currently holding in Taipei, Microsoft and Qualcomm have announced partner manufacturers that will launch notebooks powered by the SD835 running full Windows 10.
These notebooks will take advantage of the chip’s Gigabit LTE modem for constant connection to the internet hence the tag “always connected PC”. The small size of the chip will allow for a better designed laptop. Since the chip is no larger than a penny, the PCB is smaller, allowing for larger batteries or other additional components.
The notebooks will also be able to enjoy superior battery life thanks to the chip. Qualcomm claims that battery life will last up to 4 or 5 times longer when in standby mode compared to other laptops. Aside that, when your device is in standby mode, emails and other data will still sync just like a smartphone.
All Snapdragon powered notebooks will come with LTE built-in via a technology called e-SIM (embedded SIM). AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone and a number of international carriers will support the technology. Data plans can be simply added from the Windows Store.
There was a demo on display and a number of office programs like Excel, Word and PowerPoint were tested out. There was also a video download test from YouTube to show how fast Gigabit LTE is. The 1080p video downloaded at a speed of 370Mbps and took roughly 30 seconds. The highlight was the download and installation of a 32-bit legacy app, 7-Zip.
Intel has unveiled another revolutionary product in chip manufacturing dubbed Intel Core i9-7980XE which not only lets you multitask but lets you run loads and loads of apps without any hassle. The new chip is part of the company’s new Elite Core X-series family and it uses a whopping 18 cores.
Intel’s 18-core Core i9 chip takes the bar a tad higher from where AMD left off with its 16-core Threadripper CPU. The 18-core chip is the first time the company is utilising an 18-core CPU for its processor. As would be expected, the new chip equally has a huge price tag slammed on it. Manufacturers would have to part with $1,999 for a single unit making this a super high-end chip which you may definitely not find on just any desktop PC. But the chip will sure satisfy the yearnings of gaming enthusiasts who would like to play games in 4K while attending to other tasks like broadcasting the game in HD live. The Intel Core i9 also scores another first in the aspect of packing a teraflop of computing power.
Apart from the 18-core chip, Intel also has other models in the Core X family which uses 10 cores, 12 cores, 14 cores and 16 cores respectively. The model with 10 cores comes with the model number i9-7900X and will sell for $999 which is cheaper than last year’s deca-core chip. Despite the difference in cores, all the i9chips come with a base clock frequency of 3.3GHz and can reach up to 4.3Ghz dual-core speeds with Turbo Boost 3.0. The performance of the new X-series chips has been greatly improved, thus increasing both single and dual-core speed.
Other members of the X series include a set of lower core count models such as a Quad-core i5-7640X and i7 models available in 4-cores, 6 cores and 8 core models. In order to take care of the heat issues that might arise from the higher numbers of cores, Intel also developed its own liquid cooling solution which will work across these new chips, as well as some previous generations. All of the new Core i9 processors, along with the 6-core and 8-core i7 chips, feature 140W thermal design points (TDPs) which are the maximum amount of power that they’ll draw just like last year’s 10-core CPU.
Last year, just a month before the OnePlus 3 launched, OnePlus released 8 different retail boxes the phone would likely arrive in. It asked fans to vote for their favorite design but it turned out none of the boxes were chosen. It is pulling the same stunt this year again for the OnePlus 5 and it remains to be seen if our votes count this time.
The designs were posted on their weibo page and are quite interesting. There are even a couple of them in red. It’s sad to see that the flip book package design used for the OnePlus 1 is missing. While that package box does look nice, it take up more space which isn’t good when you are transporting products. A smaller sized box allows you to transport more items.
If you own the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C or either the Nexus 6P or Nexus 5X, then you should know you are eligible to sign up for the beta version of Google’s Android O. These are basically the confirmed devices that will get the update when a stable version is released. For the rest of us we have to wait for manufacturers to announce if we get the update or not.
OnePlus is probably the first to announce which phones will get updated to Android O. CEO, Pete Lau took to Twitter to announce that the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will both be updated to Android O.
A lot of you have been asking, so I'm proud to say Android O will come to OnePlus 3 and 3T.
So if you own either one of these two phones, be rest assured that the update will reach your phone. You shouldn’t expect a time frame for the update as Google hasn’t yet officially unveiled the OS. It still doesn’t have a name yet, although at the Google I/O event, there were packs of Oreo cookies available for the attendees to snack on.
This is probably a hint that it will be called Android Oreo. By now, everyone should know that the Android versions are named after sweet treats.
Nubia Z17 is one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2017. Nubia, as a company, may not be as famous as Xiaomi or Huawei, but the brand is known to release some of the best-looking smartphones in the market. This is exactly why we are waiting for the Nubia Z17’s official release, which is tomorrow, i.e. June 1. Continuing the tradition, many of the features of the flagship are already known to us, thanks to the series of teasers released by the company. But we know quite a lot more than the information revealed by the teasers, thanks to benchmarking sites like AnTutu. So let’s take a look at the expected Nubia Z17 Specs, Price, Release and other details down below.
ZTE Nubia Z17 Design Rumors:
There are two major design renders circulating on the internet claiming to be the real Nubia Z17 design. One of the renders show off a curvier phone with dual curved display up front, curved corners and vertically arranged dual cameras at the back. Just below the camera setup lies the fingerprint sensor. There’s the traditional red Nubia circle on the capacitive home button as well.
The second render shows off the phone with an Honor 8-like design in blue. This render is not as curvier as the one above but comes with a bezel-less design, red home button, and a mirror-like design at the back that we first saw on the Honor 8. Now, we believe this one to be the real design, especially because the Nubia Z17 passed through TENAA and the design on the certification site seems to be very similar to this render. The dual cameras are arranged horizontally, similar to the iPhone 7 Plus and there’s a dual tone LED flash beside it. The fingerprint sensor lies near the center of the back and below it is the Nubia logo.
The first render confirmed a 3.5mm headphone jack on the phone, but we can’t see the top of the phone in the second renders, so we are unsure about the headphone jack’s existence.
Nubia Z17 Specs Rumors:
AnTutu and TENAA have always been the reliable sources of smartphone specs before its launch. The same applies for the Nubia Z17. The phone was spotted on AnTuTu, Geekbench as well as TENAA, confirming that it will feature the Snapdragon 835 octa-core chipset inside. There will be a 5.5-inch bezel-less display and multiple memory variants like 4GB / 6GB RAM and 64GB / 128GB ROM options. What makes this phone even more interesting is the recent reports about 8GB of RAM inside. This would make it one of the first smartphones (after ZenFone AR) in the market to feature such large RAM capacity. Although the added advantage of 8GB RAM inside a smartphone is a topic of debate, it sure would be a big deal for many tech enthusiasts.
As for the cameras, the Z17 is said to feature dual 12MP sensors at the back. TENAA wasn’t clear about the camera specs, but it showed a 23MP sensor (there could be a secondary 12MP sensor) at the back and a 16MP shooter up front. We’ll have to wait for official details to confirm these specs.
The phone should run on Android 7.1.1 with Nubia’s redesigned UI. Inside, there should be a modest 3100mAh battery. At least two color options are expected, Gold and Silver. Finally, the company has confirmed that the Z17 will be waterproof and dustproof, which is good news considering the Z11 wasn’t waterproof.
ZTE Nubia Z17 Price & Availability:
Nubia Z series has always been the premium lineup of the brand and naturally, it commands a premium price tag as well. We haven’t got any significant rumors about the Z17’s price tag, however, considering last year’s models were announced at 2499 yuan (~$366 for 4GB RAM variant) and 3499 Yuan (~$512 for 6GB RAM variant), this year, the price could go a bit higher. That’s what the trend has been lately, including with the Xiaomi Mi 6. And if there’s an 8GB RAM version, don’t expect it to be cheaper than $600.
The Nubia Z17 will be launched tomorrow and should be available for purchase the following week. Initially, the phone should be available only in China but may head to other markets like India after a couple of months.
Stay tuned to Gizmochina as well will be covering the Z17 launch tomorrow.
On Monday, a screenshot of a leaked internal mail revealing the OnePlus 5 launch date surfaced online. The image mentioned June 15 as the launch date for the next flagship killer. Today, an official poster leaked online confirms the date and time of the launch.
The image was posted on Weibo by KJuma, a popular leakster on the micro-blogging platform. not only does it reveal the date as June 15, 2017, it also mentions the venue and time.
The launch will take place at the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center (Spring Cocoon Gymnasium) at 3:00pm local time (7:00 AM GMT). This is the same venue Smartisan used for the launch of the Nut Pro last month.
Just below the date is a text that translates to “New Release” and below that is another bold text that translates to “Only fast, not broken”. We can’t make out the meaning of the second text as the intended meaning has been lost in translation. It might be a reference to its Dash Charge fast charge technology, the overall performance of the phone or it might mean something else entirely.
OnePlus‘ fans have a golden opportunity to test run the amazing OnePlus 5 flagship before it hits the road. Though this is not as spicy as Google’s recent contest where fans had the chance to take home thousands of dollars, it is also not as painstaking and it’s much less involving. OnePlus is giving to 10 lucky reviewers, the new OnePlus 5 for little involvement.
All you have to do is to first follow OnePlus on Instagram (@oneplustech), then submit three photographs from your Instagram account snapped with any smartphone. The OnePlus design team will contact you if you are a lucky winner. Please note that selection is based on the best picture thus everything about your picture comes into play from the camera quality of the phone you used to the environment, lighting and background of your photo. The eventual winners will get the new OnePlus 5 smartphone.
The plot of this OnePlus contest is closely related to the attention the company is giving to the OnePlus 5 camera and they even sourced for help from DxO who created DxOMark camera benchmark system. It appears that the company is quite confident of the OnePlus 5 camera that they went public with their plans with the OnePlus 5 camera. “We want to bring a device that’s truly tailored and perfected for photography lovers,” wrote OnePlus on the competition page.
The closing date for this contest is not stated, however, it may not be very long since the OP5 is rumoured as launching on June 15. Already, OnePlus has recorded over 15,000 applications as at the time of reporting. To keep yourself abreast with the proceedings of this contest, visit OnePlus.net/lab.
A few days ago, the invite for a Motorola event leaked online. The invite which is written in Spanish mentions the launch of a new product on June 1 at 9:30 am. A tweet by Motorola Canada has confirmed there will indeed be a launch tomorrow.
The tweet doesn’t mention the phone but sources say it is the Moto Z2 Play.
The Moto Z2 Play has been in the news a lot lately. We first got to see press renders of the device which gave us the hint that it would be thinner. Then a TENAA listing confirmed that it will be under 6mm thick (excluding the camera bump) and will sport a smaller 2820mAh battery.
Lenovo then issued a statement saying it will launch with a 3000mAh battery which is better than 2820mAh but still smaller than the original Moto Z Play’s 3510mAh battery.
The Moto Z2 Play will look a lot like its predecessor save for the redesigned fingerprint scanner, antenna lines, and Moto mods connector. It will sport a Snapdragon 626 processor, 4GB RAM, & 64GB ROM. There is a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, both with LED flash. It will run Android 7.1.1 out of the box and support the Moto Mods released last year.

The flagship processors this year from Samsung and Qualcomm are built on the 10nm node design. The process has been shrinking over time and will continue to do so, so far Moore’s law is still in use.
Samsung has announced a road-map for the future and it stops at the 4nm process. That’s a massive reduction from where we are now. The announcement was made at a Samsung Foundry Forum where Samsung said its next focus is on 8nm chips. The 8nm chips will be built using its Low Power Plus process.
For the 7nm chips, Samsung will use Extreme Ultra Violet Lithography to etch the circuit design on the silicon wafer. Samsung’s 6nm LPP process will use a new Smart Scaling solution that will allow for ultra-low power benefits before moving to its 5nm LPP process.
The FinFET architecture will be ditched when Samsung arrives at its 4nm LPP process. In its place will be a new architecture called Multi Bridge Channel FET which is Samsung’s Gate All Round FET technology that overcomes the performance and physical scaling limits of FinFET.
